Tomohiko Sagae / Perthil & Aerts - Black Series 003

incl. Secluded Remix! The third part of the Black Series Trilogy guides Authentic Pew into a new year. According to a furious frist with releases by Jonas Kopp,
Kevin Gorman and Markus Suckut the new E.P. is following the rising sun with a special Guest from Japan named Tomohiko Sagae. Far East Techno, straight and
with some drops of acid. But befor you face his "Endurance" on the A2 you have to bear down "Nyers" by Aerts. On the Flipside you can find some more acid-drops,
this time by PertHil & Aerts and called "Kin", first in the original way and after that remixed by Secluded.

Ilario Alicante - Wax Weapon Ep, Rodhead, Ryan E

The Tuscan Techno-Wunderkind Ilario Alicante has made an amazing progression from an insider's tip to one of the most wanted Italian tech-house-DJs at the moment. He joined Cocoon at a very early stage and we are proud that we accompanied his steps ever since then. However it is first of all Ilarios very own sound and style that brought him to this point. This special mix of oldschool influences and pure analogue sounds merged with modern technique and styles and tools. You won't find just another plastic-loop-based track producer here nor a pseudo retro-fan again. Alicante tracks are fully focused on their floor potential however with just the right musical spice to make them that important bit different. Elements of house, techno and various influences from all the good productions out of Chicago, Berlin, Detroit or Frankfurt, you all find it in here. 'Wax Weapon & 'XYXY' are no exceptions to this proven formular follow Alicantes handwriting. ' Wax Weapon' is a great weapon for all those open air floors and based on a mystic sawtooth synthline that adds this special Alicante analogue flavour. In contrast to that 'XYXY' is built on a nice and fat house-chord and almost waves a slight hello in the direction of DHS' 'The House Of God' - this track simply breathes the definition of 'tech-house". Rødhåd is in remix-charge for 'Wax Weapon' and he follows the original vibe and idea of the track and emphasize the synthline even more, this is exactly what this sounds deserves. The result is a very deep mix of hard techno that will be played on hot summer nights when the sun won't get down again. Mister Ryan Elliot from New York City is going into a different direction with his remix of 'XYXY' and combines the original house-chord with almost oldskool breakbeat-house-elements.

  • B2: Conoscenza

Tresor Records thrusts forward with an artist who chooses to keep an element of mystery as part of his persona.

Debuting with 'Golden Rule', Confucio makes a promising stand in modern techno with three solid tracks that showcase his versatility and depth.

'Where the Logic Ends' is a driving introductory track lled with energy, as randomly triggered tones dip tenderly into a motivating bassline. 'The Present is the Future' enraptures in a feverish hypnosis with a potent grinding punch, over which a graceful wave of elongated ltered strings slowly comes hovering.

Cleverly melting the boundary between organic and synthetic, 'Conoscenza' presents a gentle crescendo of intertwining waves and percussive sounds.

With an introductory EP as potent as this three-track sensation, Confucio sets himself up for future successes, developing a sound suited for quiet appreciation, till all hours.

Drumcell - Departing Comfort, Planetary Assault Sysh Ä Corph, Material Object Rmxs

With the 'Departing Comfort EP", CLR artist DRUMCELL has put together a heavyweight remix package for one of the tracks from his debut long-player 'Sleep Complex". After receiving raving reviews and massive support in the international scene, the Californian dj/producer has invited some of today s most intriguing Techno artists to create their own version of his outstanding composition. The title is fairly self-explanatory and goes back to an emotion, which followed MOE ESPINOSA pka DRUMCELL all through his life. 'Departing Comfort' deals with leaving one s comfort zone, facing change and exploring new grounds without caring about possible expectations, a challenging experience, skilfully manifested in the original version of the track. DRUMCELL is one of today s most extraordinary and promising electronic musicians and his way of expressing deep and truthful emotions with his characteristic blend of Techno is one of the most remarkable and recognizable trademarks of his work. To have LUKE SLATER s PLANETARY ASSAULT SYSTEMS contribute a remix is in itself a major thrill, but the result is even better than anyone could have expected. Elegantly driving, straightforward, deep Techno, perfectly arranged by one of the most experienced and popular underground players of our time - a more than dignified A-side. On the B-side of the vinyl we can find the ORPHX remix, which remains faithful to the broken beat structure of the original. It creates a suspenseful atmosphere and contains distorted rhythms and acidic sequences, reflecting the sonic roots of the original. The second title on the B-side is the MATERIAL OBJECT Remix, characterized by a big, hypnotic bass- line, slowly building with a variety of well-chosen rhythmic elements and textures.

Divided - Mile End Ep Ft Hodge

In the follow up to their inaugural release from Acre that garnered support from the likes of Dario Zenker, Pearson Sound, Norman Nodge and Jamie XX, Manchester based Project 13 deliver their second package from newcomer Divided backed up by Hodge on remix duties.

Despite it's relative infancy Project 13 have forged a distinctive sound characterised by cold mechanical textures and tough, scuzzy percussion which in this case is represented deftly within their latest offering: Divided's 'Mile End' EP.

'Uildi' kicks things off with a frosty, juddering synth pattern propelled by rasping percussion before 'Mehrige' builds behind a driven kick set sawing through it's menacing back drop. The title track then blooms through circling machine loops and more off-kilter percussion as it picks up fiery vocal snips and brazen, hacking synth tones.

Bristol based Hodge then follows his releases on Hotline, Punch Drunk and Tempa weighing in with a 4/4 take on 'Uildi' that sets a thick, sizzling texture over a persistent, pacy bump rounding up another solid release from a flourishing and exciting new label.

Gonzalo Medina hails from Buenos Aires. After a few releases on Knotweed and Ressort Imprint as well as an appearance on DMT 004, he deliver 3 fierce techno tracks on DMT.
Arsat is the first Argentinian telecom satellite launched into orbit. ARSAT gets the rocket ready to ignition: a repeated stabs loop manages the take-off with success. On remix duties, up-and-coming Argentinian talent Julixo delivers a jacking Chicago-style interpretation of ARSAT. With BELTRAN, the rocket starts its launch into space: although fast paced, the track brings some harmonious dubby elements and nice violins in the mix to calm down the expecting crowd: it's all going to be OK. FORMULA ends the E.P. like a celebration of the satellite's geostationnary slot: a hard hitting, percussion driven, techno track where the stabs penetrate deep under your skin.
Not for the faint hearted!

Garnier is back on F Communications for the release of the suitably named Home Box. After a mammoth year spent making new music and performing DJ sets all over the world, Garnier has returned with a wish list, a travel journal and plenty of searching questions.
Why inundate the market when there are already so many techno productions already out there After thirty years of expostulating the techno revolution and seeing it grow, why the need to add to what's already been said Is techno really still at the forefront of the musical cultural revolution What will come next to reinvigorate the music scene
The Home Box does not aim to answer all these questions, but instead explains the thought process that drives Garnier to question his work as a producer; something he has done throughout his long career.
The result is a collection of vinyl records that is both personal and far-reaching. The Home Box is a new direction as yet unseen in Garnier's discography. It contains a collection of tracks released on five very different labels, originating in five different countries. There are also a few previously unreleased tracks and and an as yet unreleased 'surprise' EP. The Home Box is a limited edition collectors piece that encapsulates Garnier's character: it is audacious, bighearted and artistically uncompromising.
The design of the Home Box, the poster, and the vinyl records illustrate with imagination and humour a visual universe conceptualised by the artistic collective, Alles Gut. The Home Box is an object of desire that continues to define the contours of Garnier's artistic universe. The Home Box will be released in April to coincide with the long-awaited UK release of Garnier's book Electrochoc.

Ghostek - The Morning After / 2.5 Miles Abyss

Ghostek graced Shipwrec in 2011 with the excellent Easy Changes. Now the Russian producer returns to the Dutch imprint with two tracks for Deep Sound Channel. A steady drum pattern introduces the mysteriously shrouded "The Morning After." Toms are hollowed out as persistent percussion builds into a lonesome and windswept plateau of otherworldly aspects. Ambient spills into Techno for this cerebral spiral of sounds. "2.5 Miles Abyss" steals the listener below matted waves. Melodies blur, harmonies washing out of focus as aural layers lap overhead. Northern skies of solid permanence shift against cylindrical coils and lost vocals as immense pressures rise and fall under Ghostek's omnipresent control. Colored vinyl (only) release.

Vévé Ep

12inchDM3D010

17.11.2014

There is definitely something mysterious about Hiss:1292, and unlike a number of other techno projects, it is not the identity of the two producers at stake here.It has never been concealed : the guys behind the curtains are Francois X and Opuswerk. The latter is found at postal codes between 1200 and 1209 in Switzerland, the second in 92... right near Paris. Hence 1292. Nobody's hiding here...

Nobody Well, not quite. For this new project at least hides something, or some mysterious spirits that may have chosen to haunt these vinyl grooves. Four of them to be correct ; namely Augun, Damballah, Eshu and Simbi ; four Veves of the Dahomey and Yoruba Voodoo traditions, four complex and intense spirits that have seized Hiss:1292's music to make it their own.

It is often the intuition of similarities between Voodoo and Techno that pushes some producers to choose their track names with Vodun keywords. Indeed, intense experiences one can endure in some effective techno installment can sometimes approach the mental images we have of mystical trances and seizures. Here, the process has been different. The Voodoo Vévé theme was unintended at first, but once the project was finished, it seemed like a spell had been cast on the record, and the artists were bound to name their music after the spirits that dwell within.

We hope you'll get enthralled as much as we did in this one !

Phil Kieran - Going There / Getting Away

Accomplished producer, Phil Kieran, makes his Hotflush debut with a two-track ode to hedonistic flight. 'Yes I'm going there' goes the lead track's refrain. Where 'there' is, who knows But you can enjoy a soundtrack of sun-kissed piano chords and heraldic horns on the way. As Kieran 'gets away' on the A2, the mood takes a turn for the dark. Lost in the early hours, pockets full of miniature plastic bags and no money...thank fuck for the throb of that kick in these lonely but exciting times.

Richy Ahmed and Ryan Elliott, offer their interpretations of Kieran's bacchanalia on the B-side with the former creating a barnstorm of minor stabs and attitude, and the latter tearing it up, down, left and right with his broken beats and wailing vox. Gone there. Got Away.

The Fear Ratio - Refuge Of A Twisted Soul

Mark Broom :

A truly prolific artist, Mark has a myriad of production credits to his name having worked with world renowned labels and artists for decades. It all started in the Summer of 89 when Mark landed in Tenerife on vacation and stumbled across the delights of the emerging sounds of Chicago and Acid House. Returning to the UK, he immediately went in search of this new found music - a pair of turntables bought, and with them a musical career was born.

James Ruskin :

Has been working in music for more than 20 years now and is considered as one of the main artists for British electronic techno music, as both producer and DJ. James comes from a background that first put him in touch with hip hop and electro in the 80's and later with the emerging Detroit techno scenes which inspired him to become a DJ in 1991 and then venture into production in 1994. James remains a vital element in the British techno scene today.

Trevor Jackson (Playgroup, Output Recordings, Metal Dance) Releases 'Format', A collection of unreleased gems from his archive, his first album in 14 years.
Following the launch of his limited multi edition FORMAT project in February, Trevor Jackson releases a collection triple LP/CD download edition via The Vinyl Factory on the 18th May featuring bonus tracks not available on any of the initial releases.
Jackson is a man whose fingerprints are all over underground and mainstream culture, not only as a producer, DJ and label impresario, but also as a designer, artist, filmmaker and curator.
FORMAT is the first album from Trevor Jackson since his acclaimed Playgroup album back in 2001. His Output Recordings label (1996-2006) introduced the world to the likes of Four Tet & LCD Soundsystem, His recent Metal Dance compilations reinvigorated interest in early industrial and experimental electronic dance music that's clearly had a powerful influence on much of today's leftfield club music.
FORMAT's initial limited edition release in February consisted of 12 separate physical releases each featuring a different track, available on 12', 10' & 7' vinyl cd, mini CD, cassette, USB, VHS, minidisc, DAT, 8 track + Reel to Reel this was no ordinary album release - it charted the legacy of the physical music format, in a characteristically beautiful and uncompromising way, paying homage to physically released formats over the decades and also celebrating the artistry, design and individual experience of playing music via traditional methods. An accompanying installation at the vinyl factory space in London offered people the opportunity to listen to the album as a unique audiovisual experience Curated from an archive of over 150 tracks Trevor had built up over the past 2 decades, the inspiration for Jackson's music, has come from 'the times and places where genres weren't quite formed.' From his obsessive collecting of obscurities and outsider records over the years, he's developed a natural understanding of how people work in the moments just before rules are written, when everything is a gleeful experiment with technology and rhythm and every sound is there for its own sake - but from his long experience of DJ-ing, he knows how to distill down what works in the most direct and thrilling way from these experiments. So while his synth and beatbox workouts might touch on proto-house, on new wave, on italo and techno, on ambient and psychedelia, they are at the same time none of these things.

Now into its second year, Shipwrec's sub label Deep Sound Channel turns to newcomer Von Grall and Berlin based Do Not Resist The Beat label boss Milton Bradley for a new four track EP. Von Grall goes first following on from a couple of releases in 2014 on Annulled and Planet Rhythm Records as well as on a VA 12" with Bas Mooy and Developer. He has also had a digital release on Semantica last year, so that should tell you all you need to know about his stripped down sound. His track 'Fahr' is slow burning bit of soundscaping with drone synths growing ever more ominous as rippling chords fight for your attention down below. It's a great bit of moody scene setting before his second contribution, 'Next to the Nil' follows a long form and hypnotic techno groove way down the rabbit hole. Train like drums, ever present pad based pressure and a slowly emerging bass line all add up to one seriously seductive roller. Techno mainstay Milton Bradley (who has been on this label before with Alien Rain) then flips this one into a more free roaming and groaning techno track with monstrous panning synths and icy percussive ripples. Dark and heavy, it's a perfectly ominous affair designed to lock down entire warehouses. Milton's other contribution is an original, '238857 Miles,' and is a scary and unsettling bit of deep space ambience with spaceship sounds off in the distance, spoken word captain's orders bleeding into the mix and a real sense of drama throughout. Uncompromising and perfectly designed for zoned out techno sessions, this is another fine release from Deep Sound Channel.

Now on to the third release, Dutch duo Will & Ink have turned plenty of heads with their raw and pounding sounds. This latest EP, Mersenne, is no different and features four more tracks of hardware made house. Opener 'First Mersenne' is a hunched over techno kicker with loud in the mix hi hats leaving icy trails in their wake as chunky beats race below. It's a powerful groove that sweeps all in its way aside. 'Second Mersenne' is similarly defiant in its mission to get from a to b and has some kin ship with the bulky loops of analogue technoists Skudge. On to the flip side, 'Third Mersenne' is spikey and splintered, with wooden drums and rattling dub chords that work toward a heady and intense peak. Indecipherable vocal yelps hide within the arrangement and add an extra sense of urgency. Finally, 'Mersellanious' is a beat less sketch of pulsing synths and alien sound effects that entombs you in a warm pillow of sound. It's the way each sound is sculpted so expertly that makes these heavyweight tracks so essential.

Back in 2010, Boris Bunnik released his first full-length album, Machine Conspiracy, through the now defunct Meanwhile label. Delsin are re-issuing it along with Love & Hate, the EP that came at the same time and that features three tracks from the album. Machine Conspiracy came a few years after Conforce had first emerged and was a magnificent dub, techno and electro opus that made for a complete listen from start to finish as well as offering up some key dancefloor tracks. Showcasing the skills that have since made Conforce a household name in underground circles, the album is full of analogue invention, seriously moody atmospheres and non standard textures, patterns and feelings. Released on CD, digitally, black vinyl and on limited transparent vinyl, this is an album every one needs in their collection.

Valcrond Video invites you into the world of Helmer's "Roccale". Helmer's second release picks up the pummel that began with his first 12"", and continues the attack with three tracks of thoughtful, pulsing darkness.

The first track, ""You Say I for Me"" presents a forbidding metallic landscape. A snake winds through it in the aural form of an eerie growl, making its way among the crunch and clutter to periodically emerge and rear with menace.
The second track ""Corrib chun Mask""' is what they play for prisoners sentenced to hard labor in the gulag of the future, if hard labor = dancing for days.

"spry -Env", the closing piece on ""Roccale"", is perhaps Helmer's most masterfully evocative. We have walked in on a ritual, dominated by an incense pendulum that swings and smokes, and carries with it the sound of an ancient transgression.

Sweden's influence on modern Techno can never be overrated. Over the past twenty years the ever growing band of dedicated artists emerging from the country have each played a huge part in the global growth and development of the sound. Stockholm's Joel Mull is one of the key and original members of the country's musical militia. Known for his dynamic and often marathon DJ sets and his impressive releases for the likes of Music Man, Cocoon, Kanzleramt and Drumcode, the DJ/Producer is steeped in Techno history. Today though he again proves his eyes, and ears, are looking firmly to future with his latest work and debut release for Nicole Moudaber's MOOD imprint.

The two track Wind It Up EP again highlights Joel's love and skill for crafting atmospheric and harmonic techno. The Waiting's powerful kick drum is governed by its beautifully intergalactic breakdown, before Wind It Up's marching groove is bathed in swirling synths.

04.08.2014

Almost a year after they unveiled their collaboration with the wall of sound that was the 'Spiker' 12' Perc & Truss return to their home on the Perc Trax Ltd label to serve up a fresh four track EP of live analogue jams. Once again the tracks were recorded in one take. All mistakes, happy accidents and bizarre unexplainable audio artifacts have been kept in place, with no post-production or further editing done once the first take was recorded. These tracks cover more ground than the three on Spiker, but the Perc & Truss collaboration is no experimental vanity project, with all four new tracks aiming straight at the dancefloor.

Title track and opener 'Two Hundred' leads the way with caustic acid providing the foundation for a classic London cabbie-rant vocal, whilst 'Judd' layers all manner of malfunctioning effect pedal sounds over a triplet rhythm track. On the B-side 'Forever Your Girl', a mainstay of Perc's sets for months now, leads the charge, as rave interludes provide a breather from the kind of kick drum volley tailor-made for Awakening's Gashouder home. Finally 'Van Der Valk' mixes hardcore stabs over an icy electro-tinged groove and crowd samples, stretching the Perc & Truss sound further than ever before.

Sinecure - Devil's Tongue

After the release of Radial's hugely supported album CRUX, it is now time to continue the journey of his new imprint Radial Records.

This time it is SINECURE, a collaboration of the label owner with Maarten Hoogenboom. Although they haven't released any of their original music until now (just remixes) they have been friends and studio partners for a long time. Their music is very diverse and often ventures away from techno, but in this EP they showcase their shared obsession for the kind of old school sounding techno made by 'traditional' means, such as Roland TR-909, TB-303 and other analog gear. These tracks are hypnotic, paranoid, haunting and insane, but ultimately dancefloor rocking.

Demdike Stare - Testpressing#007: Rathe / Patchwork

Lucky #7 - the best Testpressing yet from Demdike Stare and the final instalment for the time being for a series that began almost two years ago.
Landing 6 months since their last raid, it's a dichotomy of dancefloor devilment, going hard for it on one side, and running ragged emotions on the other.
A-side 'Rathe' opens the doors of perception to a show-stopping bloom of heavenly voices and halfstep jungle, ratcheting the levels to heart-in-mouth effect with panoramic harmonies and ricochet drums that sound like a 2015 update of Windowlicker, all owing as much to Source Direct as Alice Coltrane.
B-side, 'Patchwork' is a whole other madness. Shocking in a different style, it consolidates swirling, norish samples nodding to Italian concrète with the kind of 2-step swerve heard on Artwork's 'Red' EP - proper feral, swinging business.
We seen and heard it go off in the dance and can safely confirm that it's one of the baddest joints in their now extensive catalogue...

Dj Deep & Roman Poncet Present Adventice - Hydraulic Pressure

Following the release of Jonas Kopp's capturing debut album and the recent Transllusion and Drexciya re-issues, the Berlin powerhouse starts the year with a bang.

Tresor Records is proud to introduce the debut collaboration between two Frenchmen, all-time reference DJ Deep, and emerging artist Roman Poncet, with two powerful 12"s released back-to-back, exploring both modern and classic interpretations of techno.

DJ Deep, uncovered by Laurent Garnier in the early '90s, has always rested on the cusp of modernity, whether in the realm of house or techno, relentlessly delivering visionary selections throughout. As label owner of Deeply Rooted, DJ Deep seeks out likeminded artists, including Poncet, to propel his vision of contemporary sounds.

Roman Poncet, surfaced in 2013 on Len Faki's Figure imprint. More recently his catalog also expanded to include releases on Deeply Rooted as well as young French label Taapion.

The blend of the two producers is simply incendiary and their profound compatibility takes all its sense on these two explosive
EPs.

Woo York - Smoke Signal Ep

Ukrainian duo Woo York explore more deep Techno with 2nd Soma release.

Ukrainian based duo Woo York mark their second release on on Soma with yet more deep, dark underground vibes on the Smoke Signal EP. After the huge success generated from Ancient Light earlier last year it seemed natural to keep up with the duo's output and once again the pair have deliver two perfectly warped Techno bombs

Title track Smoke Signal is a deep, evolving monster growing from resonating sub bass and cleverly crafted percussion. Woo York strip things back for this one as dark, brooding synths ping through stuttered and looping beats. A perfect dance floor tool.

Cold Welding drops next, building from the depths out a hollowed out, distorted core leading slowly into a fierce, kicking loop. More stripped percussion keep the track flowing as ethereal atmospheres ebbs out in the background giving this track a much deeper edge than you would think.

Woo York have crafted two excellent Techno tools, born from their amazing live sets. With even more material on the way from them they are fast becoming core artists of an ever-evolving Soma.

Alberto Pascual & Ribé - Deliquio

There is in Madrid a musical effervescence that nothing can tame. If the secular bleakness fits well the dark, sullen, industrial compositions of some of its famous musicians, an older tradition, looser, of dedication to the suave, stretched, paced nighttime, finds its natural extension in the talents of young artists like Alberto Pascual and Ribé
Beyond the city that has both seen them grow up, the two producers share a common vision of an exciting, immanent techno. They purpose on this release 4 limpid tracks, scrupulously carried out, providing an irresistible outlet to the audience, oscillating from sweet languor to euphoria. EX AEQUO records is now engaging in the creation of a raw, solid techno that is to be kept closely under watch.

An ornate globe made with many layers of exotic woods spins on its axis. Through the stained glass window diffuse light casts russet hews across the study. Looking out over the walled garden to an orchard, great swollen purple and black fruits hang malevolently from mangled moss-covered trees. A gentle wind pushes the tangled branches and as they creak and moan the fruits thud lazily to the ground, gathering in mouldering clusters on the dewy grass.

From two floors down a door slams angrily shut. A snakes head emerges from a bucket of rust. The weight of expectation pushes plants back into their roots and draws the forgotten ones out of stygian corners. Bintus throws wide his star cloak and beckons that we step through time with him. A black mirror points the way to oblivion while a disheveled figure appears, rain sodden, skin blanched like a slab of pre-historic granite. Stumbling over centuries, crushing asteroids with mind fire. Shango is among us tonight, bringing his wrath but also his forgiveness for those who show willingness to be forgiven.

Gregor Tresher Presents Breaking New Soil - Volume 6

Break New Soil continue their immensely successful Breaking New Soil series with volume number six, a four track collection featuring new music from, Maxime Dangles, Dosem & Supernova, Per Hammer and Kernel Key.

The label's latest gathering of nations sees two label debuts and the return of some our favourite artists. "All of the tracks featured on this collection, as with all of the previous volumes, have been mainstays of my current DJ sets" says label boss Gregor Tresher. The first of the newbies is France's Maxime Dangles with 'Lyoc'. "This track has been my secret weapon for the last few weeks. Absolutely smashing it each and every time I play it" says Gregor.

Label fav Dosem, fresh from the successful release of his new artist album, teams up with fellow countryman, Supanova, on yet another melodic, peak-time smash, 'The Good Way.' A fan of Kernel Key's music, Tresher is happy to welcome him aboard with, 'Init', a track that, he says, displays the Italian producer's "signature grooves" and one that has become a staple in his DJ sets. Last but by no means least, Per Hammer follows up his collab with Patrick Siech from a few months back, with his very own solo funky tech-house number, 'Ogaden.'

Enjoy!

Emmerichk - Late Nineties

Mexican Techno artist Emmerichk first discovered the world of electronic music at a very early age: His father was a great fan of electronic sounds and the young Emmerichk was introduced to the sounds of legendary German group 'Kraftwerk' and also heard music from Japan's pioneering electronic / space music composer 'Isao Tomita'.

At the age of 14 he had access to a sound studio and learned how to use mixers, drum machines and synthesizers and gradually began to create his own electronic music. He embraced the rise of the modern electronic scene in Mexico and in turn he made contact with many other artists that had similar interests and music styles. Together, they worked with their music and ideas and found adequate means to publish their music.

The final result being 'Late Nineties' - A tribute to the Techno artists who have laid the path in electronic music history. This is Emmerichk's "vision" of Techno. A fusion of digital and analog machines, deep and dark sounds resulting in diverse parallel layers of sound.

29.05.2013

The label Bond is the brainchild of Swedish techno DJ and producer Petter B. The concept of the label is 'music by DJs for DJs'. The label focuses on releasing tracks that enable the DJ
rather than the producer to be creative. It is based on that special bond which is created every time a DJ combines tracks, loops and
sounds live into something new and unique.
This first release is a three-track EP made by Petter B himself. The first track is 'The Transistor Rhythm'. It is an atonal banger with a firing backbeat made for big rooms. With dark percussions and heavy bottom this track is a destroyer. On the flip there is 'Drummer I' that is an atonal 606/808/909 beat that could be
mixed with anything needing a bit of forward momentum. The track goes up and down in intensity, perfectly crafted for the dance floor.
'Jacker' is a romantic chord-driven track with enough atmospheric noise and dust to form a new universe. The whole release reeks of distortion, abandoned warehouses and sweaty clothes.

Thomas Goertz returns with a massive 5 tracker! This time under his new moniker Dendren on his interesting imprint Untangle.

Here is what he says about the new record:

"I mess around with my early 80s synths...fuck around with my DRM 1 Drum Synth...put some analogue reverbs, delays or effects on it...put the whole salad into my MPC 2000XL... maybe sample some vocals from 90s Rap records...jam with the salad...build something out of the salad...keep the MPC on for about 2 days and then record everything live in one take on DAT.That's my workflow...simple as that."

The result is an outstanding amalgamation and intuitive interpretation of rugged machine made Techno,Grime,Ambient and Soundscapes all refined with a very own sound aesthetic.

Additional notes:

"All songs built and recorded with machines from the past, but made for today and maybe for the next days to come."

07.11.2011

The two long time mates Thomas P. Heckmann and Gez Varley aka G-Man finally release their studio sessions they recorded over a short period of time in 2011.
Based mainly on live production and using funny and long obsolete instruments and samplers, they managed to throw their long history in music together for these fun sessions. The EP starts with the title track DRIVE INN, very minimal in the production and reduced to the main ingredients a great track needs and definitely to be experienced in a nice club with decent PA. This one also gets a very fine treatment by the Detroit duo AUX 88 as a Mad Scientist remix !
The flipside starts with the Chicago influenced BACKPACK tune, very Techno-House in it's appearance, but not to be mixed up with Tech-House ! Nice swirly and pushing FMed basslines carry this tune into the subconscious.
And we finish off this package with the trippy and dubby SIDEWINDER, a great builder with fancy and psychedelic effects and deepness...

We love and release on Vinyl!

Earth Mothern's ninth release is signed by JS & Andee aka Rk's.
The label owners offer their vision of Techno and House music made of machines, synths and samplers live sequenced.
JS's Dance With Me is a Techno oriented raw tool, where slender snare drums run into a minimalistic string pad, almost without a break. With dramatic sounds and punching beats JS turns Nocturnal Symphony into a breathless 'in crescendo' track based on electrifying violin melodies.
Andee's side starts with Filter 999, a killer track with funk filtered samples and hypnotic percussions. It goes on with the old school house flavored Soul Train Robbery to end up with Pacific Palisades, a smoothy aquatic tune, characterized by floating bass, peaceful synths and broken distorted beats.
Recorded between Milano and Berlin.

Gavin Russom - Telemetry / The Beneficent, The Merciful

Gavin Russom returns to Ecstatic Recordings sister label Entropy Trax for the fledgling label's second release. Building on the brooding atmosphere of 'The Purge / Enthroned' with a pair of throbbing, synth-powered & acid-infused cuts, the 'Telemetry/The Benificent, The Merciful' 12" draws together sonic touchstones found in Russom's many projects - Black Metoric Star, The Crystal Ark, and his work with Delia Gonzalez - melding them into two singular productions that pump and drive like the sequenced machines that power them.

Gavin Russom on 'Telemetry': "This came out of some deep digging into the abilities of one of my self-designed analog processors. I was demonstrating to someone how a second layer of filtering can turn a simple 16 step sequence into an evolving line which seems to never quite repeat the same way, sequences that don't strictly repeat but rather seem to have a life of their own that expands as their more rudimentary parts lock into repetitive motion... I built a track around it by building up layers around the central sequence that grow in impact as the track unfolds."

"The title 'Telemetry' sums up a nice connection between the machine and the body, as often it is used to track or monitor living creatures from distance. It also functions like a metaphor for what happens in a club as a DJ or musician uses the technological medium to bridge the distance between his own inner rhythms and those of the others, at a distance on the dance floor. Or at least that's how it works for me."

Gavin Russom on 'The Beneficent, The Merciful': "Although I think of all music as prayer this may be one of the most overtly prayerful tracks I've ever made. The title comes from the asma allah al-usna or 99 names of Allah and is a phrase that opens many Islamic prayers. My mother, although not Arabic nor Muslim, was raised in the Middle East, and I grew up in an atmosphere of much celebration of Arabic and Islamic culture through food, music, art and spirituality."

"This prompted me to study Islam and its traditions deeply for some time and I found them to be incredibly beautiful, deep and poetic. There is nothing overtly Islamic or Arabic about the music, except perhaps some unconscious inspiration from Islamic devotional music that I love. I chose the title to recognize the depth of spiritual devotion and love present in these traditions and how it has inspired me. Total devotion to the divine is what I seek in my own life, and what I seek to express through my music."

Scuba - Claustrophobia 2x12"

Scuba's musical biography has been a story of constant change. Over the past eleven years, his music has zigzagged through bass, techno and house, at times dark and contemplative, at others bright and anthemic. A look at his discography bears out this creative restlessness: from the shadowy rhythms of A Mutual Antipathy and Triangulation, through the soaring melodies of Personality and the cardinal "Adrenalin" EP.

Claustrophobia is more than just the next phase in this development—it's a culmination of everything that's come so far. As its name implies, the record is tense and inward-looking, but it's also rich and dynamic, nimbly moving through a panorama of moods and styles. Rhythms expand and contract from one song to the next, textural passages give way to shimmering strands of melody, found sounds and field recordings breathe life into ambient sketches. The album is modern and understated throughout, but also touched with something unrestrained: the exhilarating energy of classic rave.

The album comes at a pivotal moment for Scuba. In the past few years, he's gigged heavily, playing countless festivals and clubs around the world. The hugely influential Hotflush Recordings, the label Scuba runs, has expanded rapidly, with upwards of a dozen releases each year, including widely loved titles from the likes of Joy Orbison, Mount Kimbie and Paul Woolford. But Claustrophobia was written in a period of relative calm. Scuba began the album last summer as he prepared for his set at Labyrinth, the intimate techno festival in the mountains of Japan.

On that autumnal afternoon, given four hours on the world's best Funktion One, he traced the full arc of his current sound, from sonorous Rhythm & Sound-style dub to full-on warpath techno.

Claustrophobia, which he finished in the months following Labyrinth, has the same bold and comprehensive quality as that performance. We only occasionally get a 4/4 thud—most tracks are built on lurching, angular rhythms, sometimes subtle ("Drift," "All I Think About Is Death") sometimes monolithic ("Television," "Needle Phobia"). A few tracks, like "Levitation" and "Transience," are essentially beat-free, but are not mere interludes—with vivid tones and striking depth of field, they have as much gravitas as their thumping companions ("PCP," "Why You Feel So Low" or "Black On Black"). Sleek, versatile and aurally lush, Claustrophobia is Scuba at his most immersive.

Tadeo - Terra Incognita

Terra Incognita

12inchTOKEN51
Token Records
12.03.2015

A spiralling maze of echoing bleeps and blips, booming low-end and warped orchestral flourishes dominate Token's latest offering. Considering the EP comes from Miguel Sar, an artist who has made his name aligning pulsating 4am techno with as many abstract, otherworldly details as he can muster however, perhaps this is to be expected. Under the alias 'Tadeo', Sar has navigated his way through richly textured dub, meandering acid and rugged warehouse techno, arriving at a sound which takes influence from each of his previous endeavours.

Earlier this month Token was graced with its 50th release in the catalogue, Ctrls' rough-edged three-tracker, 'Users'. Joining the label's rather impressive roster, Sar follows in excellent form - the 'Terra Incognita' EP making up the Spanish producer, DJ and label owner's debut on the imprint. The EP keeps the listener in a constant state of suspense, mind-bending atmospherics and driving percussion working up to sweltering climaxes at Sar's chosen moments. 'The Possibility Of An Encounter' or 'Apollo 7' for example thunder forward leaving little room to gather breath, both sinister and hypnotic in equal measure.

'Deep Space' is another dark, unsettling affair. Arpeggiated chords snake between deep, tribal rhythms. Sar's intoxicating synthwork is reinforced by steadily building woodwind melodies, creating moments of rushing intensity before sinking backdown into brooding soundscapes.

'Mind Possibilities' deploys a similar mediation between synthetic and acoustic textures, yet in other instances Sar chooses to turn the focus to almost entirely orchestral timbres. 'Despert' closes the release with staccato'd oboes, swelling low-end and delicate strings, showing creativity and versatility rarely found in EPs with this much dancefloor appeal.

The Neon Judgement - Tv Treated (jimmy Edgar / Dj Hell Remixes)p

If the saying goes that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, it can certainly be said that remixing may be the sincerest form of musical respect. More than thirty years after The Neon Judgement first released "TV Treated", the song has reached a truly legendary status. Sadly, one might add, its message is more relevant than ever today: you don't even need to be a conspiracy theorist to see that the shining eye is inherently evil.

Small wonder, then, that illustrious DJ's like Helmut Josef Geier aka DJ Hell, the Berlin-based electroclash pioneer, and the multi-talented Jimmy Edgar from Detroit, stateside's techno capital, were only too happy to add their names to the long list of artists who had previously created remixes of a track that has stood the test of time in defiance of every rule of commerciality.

As such, it's a fitting introduction to what will follow... Keep your eyes and ears peeled!

Cio D'or - All In All

While music in its definitive nature fills both space and time, creating environments in which we live and breathe, these miniature dramaturgies string together to become the screenplay to ones existence. Sometimes chosen, and often times forced, these sounds influence the subconscious and designate emotions. Purposely flowing fluently through a spectrum ranging from theatrical to rapturous tensions that mingle through the night. STRGTHS features 7 scuffed, throbbing industrial tracks. Initiated by the drones of SLVRBBL, the openers' atmospherics soon give way to the more direct, beat-driven LTTLWLF. RSRRCTN brings dubbier elements into play before leading into LVNGWTR's searing melody and acidic dynamics. PCTSTSS accelerates up to the record's zenith, before descending back into the darkness for the cold steel rhythms of WHTLGHT. Closer LLDTMPS evolves over the course of its near-12 minute running time to move from unsettling, disorienting tension to a warmer, contemplative climax.

The LP marks Avian's first full-length album release and will be preceded by a 12-inch featuring reconstructions by label bosses Shifted and Ventress, plus label acolyte Sigha.

Marcel Dettmann - Fabric 77

19

Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann has been picked to mix the next edition of Fabric's mix CD series, following efforts from Deetron, Maya Jane Coles and Jack Beats.

Fabric 77 finds Dettmann largely working with unreleased material from artists affiliated with his own Marcel Dettmann Recordings label, and this has informed the method in which the 19-track selection was put together, with the DJ and producer revealing in a press releases that he 'mixed it at home with 2 CD players, as most of the tracks are not available on vinyl yet. The mix is mostly based on unreleased MDR demo tracks, which I've carried around with me for the last few years.'

As a result the mix is a good primer for what to expect from Dettmann's label in the future, with Answer Code Request, Norman Nodge, Ilian Taper Dario Zenker and French producer Marcelus amongst the high-profile names contributing unreleased productions. Other notable inclusions include unreleased Dettmann reworks of Joey Anderson and Paperclip People, and the decision to close on Vril number 'Torus XXXII'.

The label Bond is the brainchild of Swedish techno DJ and producer Petter B. The concept of the label is 'music by DJs for DJs'. The label focuses on releasing tracks that enable the DJ, rather than the producer, to be creative. It is based on that special bond which is created every time a DJ combines tracks, loops and sounds live into something new and unique.

This second release is a four-track EP made by Petter B himself. The first track is Accent Patterns which is an offbeat rhythmic groover that starts subtle and grows vigorously throughout the length of the track. The next track is Drummer II that, like the name implies, is a drumbeat. With a catchy detuned clap acting as a lead it could add groove to a dead person if necessary.Tool 01 is a tribal DJ tool that hits the dance floor with the same exaggerated force as a sledgehammer crushing an egg. The last track Tool 04 has a repetitive arrangement with mayhem-like delays building up and dropping like there is no tomorrow.

Admx-71 - Second System

Adam X's industrial-tinged experimental project ADMX-71 sounds pretty much exactly like you'd expect. Foreboding, dark and hopeless. Every time you hear something like a piano reach out of the murk, it's quickly joined by something gnarled beyond recognition. Indeed, if you didn't know that X likes to carefully delineate his projects (he's the man behind the hypnotic techno of Traversable Wormhole as well), you'd be forgiven for wondering why this came under a different name at all. It could have just as easily been the sort of "downtempo and experiments"-style album that many techno producers offer up when it comes time to make the leap into the world of albums.

Like many of those full-lengths, Second System is based on a concept. X was a graffiti artist in the '80s, bombing the New York City subway system along with Joey Beltram and many others. In exploring the underground tunnel network that connected the lines, he eventually discovered unfinished stations and dead-end tunnels. Naturally curious, he learned that they were part of a huge undertaking in the '20s and '30s to serve emerging neighborhoods in the city that got scrapped before it could be completed. (World War II and the city's shift in focus toward automobiles being the main reasons.) Second System is the sound of X remembering what it was like to find such a ghostly labyrinth.

As a result, most of the material on Second Systems tends to work exceptionally well on first listen. There's a sense of the unknowable throughout—and a dread that must've accompanied X when he couldn't find an explanation as to why these tunnels existed. "Shell Stations" bangs along with an increasing ferocity that suggests the queasiness that comes with an unsolvable mystery. "The Winfield Spur" has that aforementioned piano, accompanied by what sounds like a distorted cloud of guitar lurking behind it.

There are brief moments of respite. The synth line on "Elevated Dreams" evokes the second word in its title instead of, say, nightmares. It's also one of the album's least successful songs, though it's unclear whether that's simply because X doesn't handle lightness well or because it sounds incredibly dated. Industrial, as a general rule, hasn't done as well as other genres in that latter regard. Which is why when he veers toward more abstract climes—like "Subway Inertia" or "Nine Decades Later"—you get the sense that you could quite easily come back to them in 2025.

As for 2012, Second Systems showcases a side of Adam X that many haven't heard before. The immaculate sound design on those Traversable Wormhole 12-inches was no accident, and when employed to less floor-specific ends, X proves capable of inspiring the same sort of atmosphere.

Joseph Capriati - Self Portrait

There's no room to argue, Joseph Capriati has enjoyed his finest year to date and his escalation as one the principle profiles in techno knows no boundaries. The Napoli-born firebrand has just completed a stunning season in Ibiza as a resident of Marco Carola's Music On at Amnesia. Anyone who caught him play the main room this season will agree - his special ability to combine an infectious stage presence, with razor sharp DJ skills draws techno fans to dancefloor like bees to a honey pot. No wonder island legend Carola's handpicked him to perform on 8 separate occasions, more than any other artist this season. Combine this momentum with an outstanding 2013 that already saw him headline his first coast-to-coast tour of the US, play a historic 12 hour set at the Metropolis in Napoli, plus headline every major techno festival on the planet, the time couldn't be better for Capriati to unleash 'Self Portrait', his sophomore LP. Already ingrained in the consciousness of techno lovers this year thanks to 'Fratello' and 'Awake' the pair of searing dancefloor slayers that were released in June as the album's first singles, 'Self Portrait' goes deeper than the club stormers the Italian is famed for. Over 11 future-facing tracks, Capriati displays his deft production skill to supersede his reputation for bodyslamming dancefloors. Tracks such as 'Electrolytic', the album's atmospheric opener evokes mood with a barrage of steely synths, gritty drums and industrial beats, while 'Self Portrait', the typically reflective album title track is an understated ambient gem led by warm trickles of melody that pairs nicely with 'Naked' which exhibits the producer's deft skills for moulding sparse stripped back minimal that kicks along with cheeky vox and shuffling percussion. He further reinforces his ability to create addictive club rollers with the quirky, squiggly groover 'Easy Come Easy Go', while the masterful 'Basic Elements', chugs along with rattling industrial percussion before giving way to a sublime wall of melody that's just the kind of genius fare that gets his diehard fans raising Italian flags inscribed with 'JOSEPH CAPRIATI KING OF TECHNO' regularly at this gig. And with an album this good, who are we to argue

Pfirter - New State Of Consciousness Rmxs

Pfirter is back with the sixth release on his MindTrip imprint, this time remixed by Italy and Spain´s finest: Lucy and Oscar Mulero. With a massive early support, this EP will be an essential tool for lovers of hypnotic, old school techno. This is MindTrip music! Stroboscopic Artefacts boss took some time off to reinterpret ¨New State Of Consciousness¨. Armed with a dubbed out filtered synth and textured noisy hats, Lucy takes Pfirter´s original analogue recordings into the limits of contemporary production and beyond. Warm Up legend Oscar Mulero put his hands on delivering two different remixes: first, he takes ¨Iteration¨ into a trippy-sci-fi void, while he also provides a deadly version of 'New State Of Consciousness'; both with Mulero´s haunting and mind blowing touch. This new MindTrip package is wrapped up with a tool edit of 'New State Of Consciousness' made by Pfirter.

Bringing back the Phonk to electronic groove music is this warehouse find from thearchives of Cologne's Hotel Lotte imprint - a still recommendable ten track compilation album meandering between the realms of psychedelic Downtempo, dubbed out dopeness, free floating Electro and fascinating BigBeat with a well trippy twist, brought to you by the likes of Hagedorn, M.Flux, G.E.N., Dr. Walker, Peta, Unit700 or Vermona which all played an essential role in the development of the creative, free floating electronic underground of Cologne / Germany.

Hodge - Resolve / Prototype Fear

collecting orders for a repress!
Punch Drunk proudly closes 2013 with a fearsome
new 12' single from Hodge. This release marks his
first solo release on the label following up his
collaboration with Peverelist entitled 'Bells', which
appeared earlier this year. Previous releases for
Deadplate and Well Rounded Housing Projects
have been well received, but we believe that this
new record is certainly his best to date.
On these two new tracks, Hodge draws on distinctly
UK influences combining thumping broken jungle
techno and modern era Bristolian dub aesthetics.
Kicking off the 12', 'Resolve' is a real belter,
rugged, visceral and pumped with attitude and
adrenaline. On the other side, Prototype Fear
delves deeper into the psyche, with shifting hypnotic
machine riffing, frenetic nervous rhythms and
unearthly bass pulses.
Hodge has recently achieved great success with his
House based project Outboxx with collaborators
Matt Lambert and vocalist Naomi Jeremy,
culminating in an album this year on Bristol's Idle
Hands label and a summer touring festivals and
clubs throughout Europe.
This record is a landmark 12' in defining Hodge as
an artist in his own right, whilst adding another
classic to the Punch Drunk legacy of....

Juan Atkins And Moritz Von Oswald - Borderland 2/3

Collecting Orders For A Repress!
*After more than two decades of behind the scenes collaboration Juan Atkins & Moritz von Oswald present Borderland - their debut collaborative album to be released this summer on Tresor Records.

*The album - made up of 8 sequences, which seamlessly blend the styles of both masters - was recorded at the beginning of 2013 over various studio sessions in Berlin and will be released as a series of three 12"s and a CD album.
Limited to 500 units, pressed on heavy vinyl and packed in hefty sleeves, this is the second chapter in a series of three 12' vinyls. Footprints was the second work to be produced in the Borderland studio sessions. A robust groove reminiscent of earlier collaboration between both legends such as the infamous 'Starlight' released on Metroplex eighteen years ago.
On the B-side, Mars Garden returns to the Electric Garden theme with a high dose of ultra deep gritty funk.
Together with a live show being debuted in May at MUTEK festival - the record gives common voice to two independent yet mutually supporting musical journeys, achieving a singular expression of club-orientated electronic music and the freedom of organic musical experimentation.

Mtd - Random Thoughts Ep (rmx Myk De

Limited to 300 copies.

It's been a while since we've heard a jam as bruising as Nonsense. Titles in techno often don't tell you much, and we'd go as far as to say this badboy is really more no-nonsense. This one will blow the stack, with cavernous kicks, down-the-line 909 claps and hats, and good old fashioned warehouse bells. Decision is a jackin factory floor jam. Spitting percussion that's reverbed to the roof, combines with a one-note synth and pacy high-end work for a full-on strobe light track. Myk Derill goes DIY on his re-work of Nonsense, bringing more detailed rhythm work and creating a dynamic jam that ebbs and flows, constantly moving in and out of focus. Polishing off this belting release is Imprinted - an atmospheric sci-fi rhythm reminiscent of Convexion or even Monolake - a very nice little surprise on an otherwise heads-down release.

Raw District - Ragged Star Ep

With a decade of presenting exciting new talent behind them, Crosstown Rebels press on, signing up Belgian duo Raw District for their impressive debut on the label after a storming sophomore release on Defected sub label DFTD put them firmly on the radar. The 'Ragged Star EP' featuring live vocalists Ellipsis and Giorgia Angiuli is two compelling original cuts combining hypnotic, swinging grooves in the languidly deep Detroit-laced 'Ragged Star' and contrasting textures and tempos and ethereal voice in 'Turn Away'. Throw in stone cold killer tech 'Rethink' by house music demi-god Josh Wink and you have more than enough bangers for your buck.

Vernon Bara and Massimo DaCosta aka Raw District are Homecoming Music label owners and producers that between them have released music on labels such as OM Records, AMA Rec, Robsoul, Aroma, OFF Recordings, Icon and Doubledown, and delivered remixes for the likes of Brett Johnson, Fred Everything, Style of Eye, Miguel Migs and JT Donaldson. Earlier this year they launched the Raw District project with the mission statement that 'Raw District tracks will feature fewer samples and more organic influences. However, the trademark soul, funk and disco influences will still be evident, mixed up with the fresh European sounds coming from Berlin.' With more vocal collaborations in the pipeline, expect to hear more infectiously deep and characterful club sounds in the not too distant future.

Josh Wink needs little or no introduction. As the owner of long-standing benchmark label Ovum Recordings and a DJ/producer since the dawn of the 90s, Wink has helped soundtracked the clubbing life of a generation. Forming Ovum in 1994 with partner King Britt and releasing anthem 'High State of Consciousness' in 1995, Wink *under many different monikers) has continued with countless game changing releases, touring the globe extensively and entering the house music hall of fame as one of Philadelphia's most prolific exports.

Pev & Kowton - Signal 3 / Low Strobe

* Critically acclaimed UK label Livity Sound announce their first 12" of 2015.

* Established by Peverelist in 2011, the label initially served as an outlet for the uk stylet racks he and contemporaries Asusu and Kowton were making. A run of low key but emphatic releases from the trio positioned the project firmly at the forefront of UK dance music, earning the label Resident Advisor's accolade 'Label of the Year 2013'.

* Last year the label released a stampede of A-list reinterpretations of this initial material. Surgeon, Pangaea, Kassem Mosse, 2562, MMM, Ron Morelli and Tessela to name a few, stepped up providing their own re-versions for a series of killer 12"s culminating in a CD compilation at the end of the year. Meanwhile a hardware based live show featuring the original trio toured Japan and Europe playing major festivals and underground venues alike, bringing a new energy and dimension to their sound.

* For 2015 the focus is back to releasing much anticipated new material, pushing the UK sound forward once more. The first release combines two deadly strains of mutant techno from label originators Peverelist and Kowton setting the standard for what's to come.

SECOND STATE AUDIO
04.03.2015

We here at Second State are thrilled to bring you our new concept entitled HUB. While most labels these days are doing various artists releases to showcase the overall talent on their label, we thought it would be better suited for both our listeners and ourselves to break the mold and bring you a series of true collaborations. Each HUB release will feature a single artist teaming up with others from the Second State family to create an EP of authentic musical compromises. A place where multiple minds find a harmony somewhere outside their own identity and each collaboration conceives a genuinely unique artifact. With this, there is no one we would rather have kick off the series than the man behind the massive EPs; 'Throwl' and 'Doch', Stephan Hinz with HUB One!

Of course it would only be right to kick off the first track of the first HUB One way. An alliance with, Pan-Pot. "Tension' is a heavy number with just a few key elements, it's a slow lurking journey through a dark forest at night. As each bush and branch is pushed aside and every step inches closer to a destination unknown, the pressure builds. Soon, without knowing, you are in the depths of a jungle with no way back and only one decision. Keep going.

Next is 'Hak' with Philipp Ruhmhardt. Together they have already made waves with their tune, 'Doch' becoming an anthem almost immediately since it's release last May. This time they are back with a stormer that feels like racing through a metropolis at warp speed. Each chord stab is a quick, bright flash of color as the shakers and hi hats impersonate the rapid pulse of a speedometer. 'Hak' is a white knuckle ride.

To round up the EP, Stephan and Clint Stewart united to create a cosmic journey into the outer reaches of deep space with 'Shimmer'. The longest affair of the three, 'Shimmer' is the aural embodiment of hurtling through space as you look out the window into the vast never ending blackness. Yet, when you observe the star dust and cosmos against the onyx background, the colors are that much more vibrant and surreal.

Terence Fixmer - Depth Charged

Over the past two decades, French producer and live performer, Terence Fixmer, has continued to evolve as an artist while maintaining his influential stance in international techno culture. With his last solo album, Comedy of Menace, already five years behind us, his continuous evolution has led him to produce his most introspective album yet. With this 10-piece composition Fixmer is able to tell a story from start to finish, with powerful, deep, dark, pulsating tones that are essential to his musical approach. Depth Charged is a complete concept as Fixmer's track arrangement takes the audience through various emotions illustrating how there is more to darkness than the dance floor. Beginning with a slow but heavy bassline, 'Ellipse' acts as a perfect introduction setting the attitude for the album. 'Fleeting Beauty' brings us fluttering chords amidst a serpentine drone, while the rolling bass of 'Unforeseen' sends you into a trancelike state. 'Purity' distracts the listener with its raw analog warmth filled with extraterrestrial energy. 'Inside of Me,' exclusively selected by Marcel Dettmann for his Fabric 77 mix, followed by 'Outside of Me' are both very dark tracks, filled with atmospheric suspense and quaking rhythms. 'Beyond' is a pure exemplary of Fixmer's signature style with an infectious progression sending anyone to the dance floor as 'Pallid Light' follows its footsteps filling a bit more radiance into a modern techno sound. 'Thoughts' shows another emotion of the album with deeper dub-like sonorities leading to the final track. Concluding the odyssey is 'Elevation,' the most melodic track of the album, beautifully deep, undulating and atmospheric, it is a breath of fresh air that brings one back to reality.

05.03.2015

The blend of the two producers is simply incendiary and their profound compatibility takes all its sense on these two explosive EPs.

Doka returns to Wolfskuil with a relentless techno twelve. A concept EP based on Figures translated to sequences. Opening track Figure 8 leaves no doubt about what this EP is all about: sweat on the dancefloor. On a foundation of distorted kicks and percussion an almost alien-esque, out of sync synth pattern emerges and evolves & moves on slithering paths throughout the tune. Figure 4 explores more dubby and spaced out areas on a slow, but solid drumtrack.

On the flip things open, even warm up thanks to an acidic bassline and dreamy pads. A beautiful contrast with the pounding groove that accompanies it. Titletrack Figures is a disturbing drone and an ambigious ending to an EP where Doka showcases his enormous and evolving talent. There's more where that came from.. Stay tuned.

INIT is the musical incarnation of Rhein-Main based duo Nadia D'Alò and Benedikt Frey. Albeit heavy use of analogue synthesis and drum-machines, INIT rethinks it's genre's sonic approach, unfolding a unique and organic, yet alienating sound, somewhere in mysterious mids of acid, techno, ambient and kraut-rock. The result is a captivating sonic universe that reminds us of a more twisted, darker and techno take on the noir electro-pop sound from bands such as Chromatics or Glass Candy.

Their first EP for Hivern is comprised 'Talking About Talking' and 'Blackbird'. Both tracks are excellent doorways to their haunting vision. A sound full of contrasts, in which stinging textures create warm atmospheres, eerie vocals become captivating and tension is always sensual. The release also includes three dazzling remixes by C.P.I., Willie Burns and Cliff Lothar, each them giving new perspectives to the tracks without losing its original spirit. C.P.I. transform Talking About Talking into an acidic techno slow burner, reinforcing the rhythmic patterns and extending the sequences and vocals to give them an almost drone-like quality. Willie Burns gives Blackbird a candid twist by adding dreamy arpeggios, haze swishes and high-pitched vocals. In contrast, Cliff Lothar takes the same track towards much muddier realms by adding abrasive synths and pummelling drum-machines.

The 12' comes wrapped in artwork by german designer Michael Satter.

Trus'me - Treat Me Right - The Remixes 3x12

Limited to 300 copies only !

'Treat Me Right', the third album from Trus'me, featured plenty of modern club anthems and was lauded by a gamut of the most respected DJs around, including Ben Klock, Guy Gerber, Tini and Maya Jane Coles. Reflecting the Trus'me musical palette and chosen by him for this very reason, Prime Numbers has now put together an undoubtedly excellent collection of seven remixes by a stellar cast of friends and collaborators.

From the U.S with Luke Hess & Truncate to Sweden with Skudge via the U.K with Truss & Alan Fitzpatrick, France with Marcelus and Germany with Roman Flugel, together these remixers make up an impressive team from the forefront of Techno and House including both bonafide veterans and the vibrant new school talents alike.
With remixes on Prime Numbers, the label always ask the producers to wholly reinterpret the tracks and that's what has happened here to devastating effect, with each artist bringing their distinctive style to the table and providing radically fresh tracks rather than just basic revamps.

In inimitable style, Skudge mould 'Moonlight Kiss' into a deep analogue roller. They maintain the chopped vocal hook and the dreamlike feel of the original but drive the tempo with crackling snares and thunderous kicks. Marcelus brings the pain to 'Hindsight' stripping the piece right back to the bare essentials. His rework fizzes and pops itself into the darkness whilst the bass and keys ride out a mesmeric and hypnotic groove.

Both Alan Fitzpatrick & Luke Hess put their touch to 'I Want You'.
The Deeplab Detroit master Luke Hess turns out in much the same vein as his releases on FXHE and Planet E working the original into a subtler, more spacious groove. Whilst Fitzpatrick pumps the track with iron & steroids rocking some seriously insistent action for the wide-eyed, this is most certainly one for the top of the night and has all the right anthemic ingredients.

Truss toughens up 'Defunct', simplifying the track and giving it more friction for the dance floor. 'It's Slow' gets treated twice to Truncate's vision. Mix 1 is all minimal pumping Dance Mania type moves whilst Mix 2 is a nod to Todd Terry dubs with percolated bass and frayed keys.
Roman Flugel heightens the tension of the now classic 'Somebody' building the groove expertly with delay and a perfect flow very much in the style of his fantastic Jack For Daze release last year.

This limited triple vinyl release comes in a bespoke wide spine sleeve and includes a bonus CD featuring a selection of the remixes plus a few handpicked tracks from recent Prime Numbers vinyl releases including Fred P, Mosca, XDB & Adesse.

Following his well received fabric mix comp in December 2013, Ben Sims returns to his own Theory imprint with yet another ring release in the form of 'Reection', which features two original new tracks, a remix from ROD and a vinyl exclusive. The eponymous opener is a strident, 909 + 707 driven affair that fuses overlapping, stereoscopic tones to a gently distorted and brutalist groove that sits somewhere between Dance Mania and Detroit. 'Break Glass' is the second original on offer and has been a heavily requested track for the past few months. The perfect partner to 'Reection', 'Break Glass' is similarly overdriven but heavy on the sort of mechanical funk that Sims does so well. ROD's version of 'Reection' is a linear assault which ebbs and ows with purpose throughout a linear and intense arrangement while Sims' remix of 'Break Glass' zeros in on bone rattling percussive aesthetics and vox samples, in much demand after featuring on his fabric mix cd.

Reection is released on Theory early March 2014.

31.07.2014

Inside these airless sarcophagi, the passing of time renders objects once forged from molten metals as fragile as paper; so delicate a gust of wind could destroy them for ever. Once deadly weapons now oxidised to dust are proof of the futility of man in the face of time. All regimes will crumble over years, all empires turn to dust...The more potent an object in its former life, the more poignancy in its nebulous disintegration. The shattered radio controls, the gun turned to a rusted block like a child's toy, the bullets corroded to nothing are all exiled from their brutal pasts. What messages are locked in time that passed through the obliterated decoding machine, who alive if anyone can tell its secrets.

Works The Long Nights
22.10.2014

After a short hiatus, Blawan & Pariah return with their influential Works The Long Nights imprint. Teaming up together once again as Karenn, here they display three tracks of all-hardware muscular techno experiments. Highly essential, therein keeping with traditions of the label and artist's previous output, of course.

Repress in April!
For the first release on Nous'Klaer Mattheis provides an EP full of cosmic music to dance to. Born on a small Dutch island, Mattheis has the ability to write modest and intimate music, far from big city boldness. Isms is an EP full of synth explorations - arpeggiators waving up and down, driven by dusty drumcomputer rhythms. As a part of Clone distribution Nous'Klaer Audio tends to release human dance music, both for parties and real-life. With more to come this autumn, the Isms EP is a warm and welcome start.

Trevor Jackson - F O R M A T : Lumiline

1

Acclaimed creative director and music maker trevor jackson releases format, a collection of unreleased music & his first album in 14 years.

F O R M A T is no ordinary album release - instead it charts the legacy of the physical music format, in a characteristically beautiful and uncompromising way, paying homage to physically released formats over the decades and also celebrating the artistry, design, as well as the individual experience of playing music via physical methods.

Initially available as a limited edition release, each track is available on : 12", 10", 7" vinyl, cd, mini cd, cassette, usb, mini disc, dat, 8 track and 1/4 reel to reel.

Says Jackson: Every copy of a physical recording is different, a real object that has its own little story - a one of a kind, personalised by the effort you put in to purchase it, each time you touch it, and the unique ritual that goes along with playing it. this music is the result oF many years of experimentation and evolution, created by physical machines, fed through objects with personality steeped in history. the fact culturally everything's become so convenient and easily accessible whilst in the process totally disposable is an important subject i needed to address with this project.

Jackson, over the years, has built up an archive of over 150 unreleased tracks. for format he has carefully selected, re-edited and remastered tracks from various points through the last 15-year period to create a new body of work. touching on synth and beatbox workouts, proto-house, new wave, on italo and techno, on ambient and psychedelia, the tracks are, the same time, none of these things.

All editions are signed and numbered.

Dez Williams - Strength In Numbers

Classy, driving, Drexciyan acid from the Welshman. Ekman and Bintus remixes, too — some massive, rampaging, squelchy electro, which makes your speakers sound broken, and a slash-and-burn warehouse banger.

Paul Johnson - Vol. 1

A killer collection of tracks from the mighty Paul Johnson on Steve Poindexter's Chicago Underground offshoot.
This is some true Blue "Ghetto" House music, fat, funky and fresh with all the swing you'd expect from vintage Paul Johnson!

The tracks across this EP kick like a mule when applied in the correct scenario, all styles are present here featuring some straight ahead bangers and some weird, woozy down-tempo cuts for the freaky side of the dance-floor to get lost in! There's endless fun to be had here for the DJ's, you'll want to work these tracks all night long in the mix. Essential!

Re-mastered, re-pressed and re-released with the permission of and in conjunction with Steve Poindexter / Chicago Underground Records USA and inspired by Bobique Bobby. Do it!

LBL
12.03.2015

LBL is a new Label Project brought to you by Man Power (Hivern Discs, Correspondant) and Peter Wilson (Join Our Club, People Get Real).
With the simple ethos that all of the the music released has to be something that makes the co-owners / curators want to dance, the planned releases display a wide range of styles, tempos and textures, provided by a mixture of new talent and established artists.

For their second release, LBL present another Various Artist EP featuring the Talents of Ste Spandex (Red Laser Disco, Wet Play), ASOK (MOS Deep, Scenery), Causa (Tusk Wax) and Colours in Waves (20/20 Vision).

Cutting his teeth at Oddball Manchester musical institutions Red Laser Disco and Wet Play, has lead Ste Spandex to embrace a wealth of sounds reflecting Techno, West Coast Funk, Chicago House and Electro Boogie.
"OH" see's Ste showcasing his darker side, with a relentless chugging and crunchy beat that gives way to driving close which belies the track's relatively low tempo. Never one to shy away from his oddball 80's leanings, the entire track was recorded through tape... VHS Tape... to complete its unique lo fi feel.

ASOK is the man behind Scenery Records. Since starting the project in the last couple of years his music has been released on labels including MOS Deep, Mule Musiq, Photic Fields and London Housing Trust. These endorsements alone should be a sure sign of the type of quality House he releases, and we're pleased to say we believe that his track "Grid Runner" is representative of some of his finest work, showcasing a classical yet off kilter approach which breathes some much needed excitement in to the tropes of machine made House Music.

Causa is the alias of Joe Lucas. A former record shop owner, with the necessary wealth of influences that the role entails. Joe has been quietly making music for many years but now labels are beginning to pick up on the artists prolific output of music. "Seven" is a dark and druggy slab of deepness. Techno on 33rpm, but with enough drive and hypnotic atmosphere to keep the attention and move the feet.

The final track on this release comes from relative new comer, Colours in Waves. His track, Conservation of Momentum is quite hard to pin down, being equal parts Techno, House and dare we say Trance (the good Trance) and Prog (the good Prog). It also manages to veer between a range of emotions, which lends the track some hefty pathos that make it potential anthem material.
Frankly speaking, the track is huge, but never overblown, which we think is one of the most delicate balancing acts possible, and which makes us very very excited at the prospect of further tunes from the artist.

As with all LBL releases, these tracks will be released digitally, as well as on a limited vinyl run of 300 copies.

Wouter De Moor - Brain Fog Ep

Ovum
10.03.2015

Wouter De Moor debuts on Ovum! With previous EPs on heavyweight imprints such as Get Physical and Poker Flat, Dutch up-and-comer Wouter de Moor's latest release on Ovum Recordings maintains his strong upward trajectory towards the big leagues. Kicking things off is 'Fluf', a chrome-plated jacking banger. Its menacing organ line is punctuated by punishing snare volleys and vocal cuts. This leads into 'Fluffy', a more subdued reinterpretation of the same track. Whilst retaining many of the same musical elements and samples, it drops the tempo and energy somewhat, taking things into trippy, late-night dub techno territory. 'Data Dump' is a hazy cascade of synth stabs and modulated hi-hats, which undulate in and out of the fore, whilst a simple yet effective four-to-the-floor beat drives things forward. 'Brain Fog' is a refreshing left turn, with sun-dappled piano chords and peppy, almost UK-funky-esque snare rolls. The result is a totally unique sounding piece of dancefloor material, infused with soul and colour.
