To naysayers, techno is a genre often derided as being soulless and unemotional. And in many respects, it often is. Fortunately however, such issues never seem to permeate through Funk D'Void's output. Taking a much deserved hiatus from the Francois Dubois pseudonym that's served him so well of late, the Scottish native returns to his own recently established Outpost imprint here with a two track EP, that - in many ways - is symbolic of the style he's become renowned for in recent years.

Mike Dehnert follows up on his previous 2 Clone Basement releases! After just releasing his debut album we have a selection of 4 tracks, that shows another side of Mike. Four tracks that reveal the more challenging side with some forward thinking techno tracks. Slightly slower paced as some of his recent works, and with only 1 out of 4 tracks having a straight kick in the complete track, he is placing emphasis on the rolling machine groove and the flow coming from sounds and effects. Very industrial and how controversial, very smooth aswell. Time will tell, but this could easily be his biggest accomplishment to date!

In 2009 a series of five anonymously produced ink stamped vinyl recorded releases appeared in the global techno scene under the mysterious guise 'Traversable Wormhole. The series released exclusively on vinyl. The sound of 'Traversable Wormhole is a unique signature of sci-fi laden techno music with gaps of time, space & bass in between sound & rhythm. Within a month's time of it's conception Volume 2 of the series appeared and a huge buzz was soon amassed on the project. Accusations on who was the artist behind the project ran wild. People all over the techno scene had made theories to who was behind it. The project quickly received huge support from many of the world's most renowned techno shops such as Rub A Dub , Hardwax, Juno & Decks. Word traveled fast through the wormhole and it was soon reported that globally respected dj's such as Chris Liebing, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Mathew Herbert, Ryan Elliot, Andrew Galluzi, Surgeon, Function, Frankie Bones, Surgeon, DJ Deep & Radioslave were all supporting the sound of TW. With the series fast approaching into further galaxies with the appearance of Vol 3. Techno cult blogsite MNMLSSG (http://mnmlssg.blogspot.com) tracked down TW via Twitter. A sonar ping was sent back to the popular blog and soon a 'Traversable Wormhole' mix appeared anonymously on the site, receiving rave reviews. Their were also reports through the anonymous 'Traversable Wormhole' Myspace profile that dj's from the dubstep scene were supporting the songs that had more of a broken beat structure in the series. As the series transgressed to Vol 5 by the year end of 2009 the mystique of anonymity continued to grow. To usher in the very start of 2010 'Traversable Wormhole' would release the sixth volume of the series. At the same time 20 year veteran techno artist/dj Adam X originally from NYC and now residing in Berlin would be invited to partake in a feature called 'Playing Favorites' on 'Resident Advisor' the worlds biggest electronic music

Tronic continues its roll out of summer bombs with the 'Origin'/'Freed' two-tracker from Dosem, an artist who has previously made a name for himself with sterling output for Technasia sub-label SINO. 'Origin' is the first of the two tracks and it opens proceedings with an epic, synth heavy vibe. Filtered, impeccably programmed drums gently unfurl into a persistently padding groove that kicks on a big system. As the track opens up to drop, metallic synth chords shimmer out of the groove and deliver a massive punch. The intensity grows continually throughout and the melodies are pushed to their maximum, making this an unashamed anthem. The flipside's 'Freed', while more 'heads down' than it's counterpart, is certainly no shrinking violet. Driving drums are topped with long, building vocal screams and rising synths create a feverish atmosphere that, added to a pulsing and brutish bassline, goes off.

Neapolitan techno powerhouse Unrilis delivers a brand new EP from Gaetano Parisio in the form of Needing Chords. Up there with the likes of Adam Beyer, Ben Sims and Marco Carola as one of the premier exponents of European techno, Parisio's reputation is backed up by an enviable discography and touring schedule.
Needing Chords, backed by a remix from another Neapolitan legend in Rino Cerrone, is
a heavy-set, muscular techno-workout which builds with unbridled intensity.
Cerrone's remix is considerably more stripped but loses none of the original's power. Moodier and with a sinister edge, it's an interpretation which provides an exciting slant on the original.
The skippy funk of Fake Stuff follows and does so with a playful urgency. Threaded with
a snaking white noise motif that ebbs and flows under staccato keys, it's hugely hypnotic
while not loosing its groove.
Finally, it's the trippy synths of Program Meanings that close the EP. Heavily layered the
track constantly and fluidly shifts with filters revealing new combinations of layers
throughout while a funk licked bassline and heavy drums do the rest.

A: Finder's Keepers (8:05) 'Finders Keepers', the title track of the EP, leads off with a propulsive, bouncy techno sheen underpinned by densely-layered samples, intense build-ups and hard hitting drums justifying the track's 'A' status as guaranteed peak-time floor-filling material. B: Plus This (7:42) 'Plus This' takes a slightly darker turn with a throbbing groove and mental samples that pan across the stereo field adding both a sense of delirium and focus.
