Dimelow label boss Bony Fly steps forward with a seven-track cassette + digital release for Equiknoxx Music, marking a heavyweight link-up that’s been years in the making. No stranger to the Equiknoxx universe, Bony Fly has long been part of the extended family—hosting the crew in Geneva and premiering “Rivers Odyssey” on the collective’s NTS show back in April 2020. Since then, plans for a larger project have been quietly taking shape.

Now, in 2025, the vision arrives fully formed: seven Dancehall-meets-Reggaeton scorchers, built for sound systems, clubs, and global dance floors. Bony Fly’s long-time undisputed sparring partner Androo steps in on Dancehall Science to close off the project with style and elegance. A true cross-continental connection—Guatemala City meets Kingston City in fine style, delivered through Bony Fly’s unmistakable global-club energy.

Albert Aylers bedeutendes Free-Jazz-Quartett bestand aus Don Cherry an der Kornette, Gary Peacock am Kontrabass und Sunny Murray am Schlagzeug. After screaming to the world You Don't Know What Chiptune Is, arottenbit returns with an even more radical and collective statement: You Don't Know What A Rework Is. Ten tracks, completely deconstructed and rebuilt by twenty Italian bands, each in their own sonic language. From drone swallowing the void to the most savage death metal, from visceral punk to a fearless flamenco twist, every track becomes an uncharted territory, a journey where arotttenbit's identity dissolves and multiplies into twenty new forms. Most of the recordings were captured by Otto himself with his mobile studio, during a tour across Italy that took him into basements, rehearsal rooms, and underground spaces, harnessing raw and direct energy from the bands in their natural environment. Mixing and mastering then came to life at Otto Engineering Labs, his personal sound-space where everything was stitched together and transformed into a single living organism.

Ne$$ and Baby J’s 3rd album comes after a long collaborative working relationship from previous group A-Alikes. Ne$$ has recently done a series of UK shows in London, Leicester and Birmingham as well as an upcoming feature on 05.21 YouTube channel and interviews on Itch FM. The tracks have also been supported on Soho radio and by Shotry Blitz. The album represents an original voice in hip-hop, addressing working-class proletariat stories of street life, and the effects of capitalism on black and poor people. Ne$$ has been a successful part of the US hip-hop seen over the past two decades, working with the likes of Mos Def, Dead Prez and Bilal. Baby J is an established UK, hip-hop producer whose production credits include Amy Winehouse, Skinnyman, Dead Prez, Plan B and Mark Ronson. The album is sonically broken and dark with a raw purist Hip Hop sound.

After so long it becomes harder to say new things about older things you now just do. Some things you've become. Some things you simply (never simply) are. The thing becomes a slippery notion. The self slides along with it. After this long, the story is whatever are the songs. A Self-portrait at two decades. Here are 11 new ones, from the current constellation, and a future still to come. The cement is still wet on that one. From the forest near where I now live you can hear a chorus of different birds in voice at once, competing but each defined, in defence of a territory or to attract a mate. There's an app that tells you so. I wonder, too, what that app doesn't reveal, if their nature need not share those same purposes. This is simply (never simply) how it exists. Long-time NuNorthern Soul contributor, B.J. Smith is a man in demand, dividing his time between solo work, playing guitar in Crazy P man James Baron’s popular JIM outfit, collaborating in a variety of well-regarded projects (Smith & Mudd, Bison and White Elephant amongst them) and composing for TV. Due to this impressive list of musical commitments, solo releases have been few and far between of late, with Smith’s most recent NuNorthern Soul release, a stripped back version of his Big Sur single, dropping late 2023.

It's been ever longer since he delivered a volume in his popular and ongoing Dedications To The Greats series, where the singer-songwriter and composer successfully turns his hand to other people’s songs. Since debuting the series on NuNorthern Soul in 2013 via revelatory and inspired covers of tracks by Mos Def and the Pharcyde, Smith has covered cuts by Outkast, Prefab Sprout and Soul II Soul.

On volume four, Smith’s first volume in the series for five years, he delivers a “cover of a cover” – a revolutionary and imaginative interpretation of Billy Swan’s ‘Don’t Be Cruel’, itself a version of a song first made famous by Elvis Presley. It was their mutual love of Swan’s version that brought Smith together with the release’s most prominent guest artist, Joe Harvey-Whyte, whose lilting, bittersweet and deeply emotive pedal steel performances can be heard across the EP.

Smith provides three contrasting takes. The EP is led by the ‘Mother Earth’ version, a slowly unfurling epic in which waves of effects-laden pedal steel and sun-splashed picking acoustic guitars usher in Smith’s eyes-closed vocalisations, settling into a groove reminiscent of his collaborative work with long-time friend and collaborator Paul ‘Mudd’ Murphy that showcases Harvey-Whyte centre stage to joyful effect. As the 14-minute epic progresses, we’re treated to long, languid electric guitar solos, percussion-laden slow-motion builds and hazy, stretched-out organ solos. It’s a breathlessly brilliant concoction that’s a million miles away from either Swan or Presley’s versions.

In contrast, the similarly epic ‘Earth Heart’ version – available in full vocal and instrumental takes – pushes the song front and centre. Following an extended build up, where Tamar Osborn’s gorgeous and fluid flute motifs rub shoulders with languid guitar solos and Harvey-Whyte’s pedal steel, Smith takes to the mic, delivering an emotive performance of the song’s heartfelt lyrics over a hushed, slow-motion groove. The track builds in waves as it progresses, with Smith layering up instrumentation as it rolls towards a fine conclusion.

Completing a superb package is the ‘Root Heart Version’, a Balearic-meets-Americana take built around shuffling drums, toasty bass guitar, extended pedal steel instrumentation, flashes of flute and Smith’s sun-bright acoustic guitar. Loved-up and more than a little saucer-eyed, it’s a bona-fide sunset delight.

If anyone in the reggae circles could be described as having their own sound it would have to be Mr Augustus Pablo, born Horace Swaby 1954 St Andrew Jamaica. He took the humble melodica a wind blown mouth keyboard and made it shine.

His musical journey started one sunny day in 1969. Walking into Herman Chin- loy's Aquarius Records shop and on playing his melodica so impressed its owner that he was taken off to Randy's Studio 17, the very next day to cut his first record 'Iggy Iggy'. But it was his second tune under the guidance of Clive Chin again cut at Randy's, the seminal 'Java ' that put the young Augustus Pablo on the map. Clive Chin continued his work producing Pablo's debut album 'THIS IS AUGUSTUS PABLO' . An instrumental affair on which the neo-mystical ''Far East'' sound synonymous with Pablo's work emerged.

Having worked with most of the top producers of the time,Lee Perry,Keith Hudson, Bunny Lee, Augustus decided to set up his own label "Rockers", named after his brothers sound system. Where many of his tunes would first be heard.The label came to define a new and exciting chapter in reggae history.Even when versioning acknowledged classic Studio One rhythms there was a precious maturity and depth to Pablo's productions that kept him at the top throughout the late 1970s and into the 1980s. His 'King Tubby meets the Rockers Uptown' set which featured some of these rhythms reworked; Swing EasySkanking Easy, Frozen SoulFrozen Dub, stands as one of the true dub classic albums of any reggae education.

This set of dubs are taken from his classic 70's period.All rare dubs straight from the masters. You may have heard the tune, but not these versions. So sit back and enjoy the Original Rocker..... STILL SOUNDS SWEET.

The debut album from Tokyo's WENDY, now available for the first time as an extended vinyl edition. Formed as teenagers during Japan's strict COVID lockdown, WENDY secretly came together to create rock 'n' roll for a new generation. Their raw demos quickly landed them a publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing and caught the ear of Grammy Award-winning producer Marc Whitmore (Jon Batiste - "We Are"). Whitmore was so impressed he produced their debut album himself, recorded live in just nine days, with no edits, capturing the band's unfiltered energy. The process was even featured in Sound & Recording Magazine. The vinyl edition includes two exclusive, previously unreleased tracks: "Pull Me In" and the powerful "Pledge of Love".

The Argentine-born producer, now based in Munich, presents his long-awaited
debut album Bleeps Don't Cry, born out of a period of emotional upheaval in the
artist's life, and marks an immersive sonic journey through bw's evolving inner
world.
The record blends hypnotic, dub-infused rhythms with haunting atmospheres and
introspective ambient explorations. With this release, bw presents a raw, strippeddown aesthetic and a deeply personal approach to modern electronic music.
Both the artist and his self-titled label, bw, exist as a refined underground entity
with a keen ear for quality and contemporary techno. His tracks are crafted with
minimal yet vital elements, each sound added like a crucial ingredient, emotionally
expressive and essential to the whole.
