»sichten« refers both to »opinions« as well as the »examination of material«. in lose sequence, we will invite friends and colleagues, but especially music lovers to share their opinions on music with us or to look through their collected materials in order to present music that tends to be out of the focus of current media channels. as a label for electronic music our focus is on examining exactly this genre. but in the context of the series, we are rather looking for more hidden, unknown, perhaps forgotten music. we want to present the yet undiscovered, and also offer a platform for other cultural environments with different musical approaches. each issue will be supervised and compiled by a curator. an introductory text shall explain the ar- tistic approach of the respective curator. in this sense, the format of a double lp can only provide a first insight and wants to invite to a more in-depth research. for the first issue of the series, »sichten 1«, we asked frank bretschneider to compile his own, very personal selection of current electronic music. his choice fell on six artists, whose different styles me- ander between accessible music on the one hand and very abstract compositions on the other hand.

In loser Folge laden wir Freunde und Kollegen, vor allem aber Musikliebhaber ein, ihre Meinung zur Musik mit uns zu teilen oder ihre gesammelten Materialien durchzusehen, um Musik zu präsentieren, die nicht im Fokus der aktuellen Medienkanäle steht. als label für elektronische musik liegt unser schwerpunkt auf der untersuchung genau dieses genres. im rahmen der serie suchen wir aber eher nach verborgener, unbekannter, vielleicht vergessener musik. wir wollen das noch unentdeckte präsentieren und auch eine plattform für andere kulturelle umgebungen mit unterschiedlichen musikalischen ansätzen bieten. Jede Ausgabe wird von einem Kurator betreut und zusammengestellt. Ein einleitender Text soll den künstlerischen Ansatz des jeweiligen Kurators erläutern. Mannequin Records is proud to present a trilogy of reissues from the avantgarde Italian-born producer Doris Norton, "Norton Computer For Peace" (1983), "Personal Computer" (1984), "Artificial Intellingence" (1985).

Apple's first music "endorsement" (later IBM consultant) and early Roland affiliate, Doris Norton is one of the most important women pioneer in the use of synths and in the early electro / computer music.

While the beat-oriented style of Norton's music aligns her with such global fellow-travelers as Yellow Magic Orchestra and Kraftwerk, her championing of the personal computer as a tool for self-sufficient musical creativity also connects her to more artsy musicians such as Pietro Grossi, Laurie Spiegel, and the League of Automatic Music Composers. Norton's predilection for the bright, glossy timbres of early digital instruments also recalls Hubert Bognermayr and Harald Zuschrader's bizarre 1982 one-off Erdenklang.

Bit-Tuner's "Arabian Nights" is based on field recordings, tapes, radio snippets and sounds recorded and produced in Cairo. The gleaming heat of Egypt was processed into a grinding 40-minute live set, contrasting the layered atmospheres with Bit-Tuner's signature staccato beats.

Swirling sounds fall into place as the recording evolves. As blasts of wind carry away the dust, sights of a dense and vibrant metropolis are set free. After his previous works "The Japan Syndrome" and "The China Syndrome", Bit-Tuner's new recording "Arabian Nights" takes an edgy approach: Bit-Tuner extracts grainy physicalness from his sounds and brews them in his high-energy arrangements. Der aus Kanada stammende und in Europa lebende Pianist, Entertainer und Grammy-Gewinner Chilly Gonzales ist für den innigen Klavierklang seiner Erfolgsalben "Solo Piano" (2004) und "Solo Piano II" (2012) ebenso bekannt wie für seine Selbstdarstellung auf der Bühne und Kompositionen für preisgekrönte Stars wie Jarvis Cocker, Feist und Drake. "Gonzo", wie ihn engste Weggefährten nennen, strebt stets danach, ein Mann seiner Zeit zu sein. Er nähert sich dem Klavier auf der Basis einer klassischen und jazzmusikalischen Ausbildung - aber mit der Haltung eines Rappers. Wie die beiden vorangegangenen "Solo Piano"-Alben findet auch die dritte Folge ein glückliches Ende in C-Dur, doch auf dem Weg dorthin finden sich mehr Dissonanzen, Spannungen und Unklarheiten als früher. Denn mittlerweile ist es Chilly Gonzales egal, ob seine Musik gefällt oder nicht, und damit werden falsche Noten auch nicht mehr glattgebügelt. Dadurch erhalten seine geheimnisvollen Akkorde und seltsamen Strukturen einen solchen Suchtfaktor, dass sie schließlich wie unvermeidlich klingen. Im Gegensatz zu den ersten beiden Editionen ist die musikalische Reinheit von "Solo Piano III" kein Gegengift für unsere Zeit, sondern reflektiert all das Schöne wie auch Hässliche, das uns umgibt.

LPost-Heretic Dracula X Chronicles is Nicola Kazimir's debut album. It features 30min full of diverse, rough, evil, melancholic electronic music compositions either partly sampled out of important melodies in his life or fully produced by him. Post-Heretic Dracula X Chronicles LP draws from contemporary and past cultural references evolving around institutional-critique, occultism and dividualism and manifests those via metatags or sonic compositions.

Nicola Kazimir is a part of the collective Les Points based in Zürich, Switzerland.
His art/music draws from 90's rave utopias, decentralized & dividual thought, institutional-critique, occultism, progressive & accessible frameworks as showcased at their offspace Mikro -
a physical room which has no doors and opening times during exhibitions and raves - making an institution available to all social layers.
His recordlabels "Les Points" and the newly founded "Gentrified Underground" appropriate those ideas and transfer them to the distribution channels of electronic music.
Nicola refuses genre-stigmas and explores a vast number of genres in his dj-sets and productions - his newest LP "Post-Heretic Dracula X Chronicles" being an example of that diversity.

Shortly before the turn of the year 2017/18, my friend Jan Müller wrote me an e-mail: »Dear Martin, I'll send you the new album of my band ›Dirty Dishes‹ now. The album is titled ›Kabinett Von Papen‹. It is a concept album, which has the third-last government cabinet of the Weimar Republic as a subject. So, please tell me how you see it - whatever your verdict, I'll use it as an incentive to put my mind and body in the service of global pop culture even more so in the future«.

Dirty Dishes is founded in 2005 by Jan »Rasmus Engler« Müller (Tocotronic) and Rasmus »Jan Müller« Engler (MHerrenmagazin, Little Whirls, Ludger) when the two are bored during recording sessions for the second album of their group Das Bierbeben. Immediately, they write two pieces of music (»Bon Giorno«, which has alcohol and drug abuse as a subject, as well as »Drink a Coke«, a Brigitte-Mira-dedicated anthem for the caffeine-containing soft drink), which are released in the same year as a single under the title »Hurra...! Endlich Ferien!« on the label K.i.N.d.V. Two years later, the duo releases their debut album »Tea Is Not Our Cup of Coffee«. Here one can hear the first experimental and more conceptual works such as »Dirty Dishes as Goofy as Asterix«. The following albums (»Mit uns nicht!«, 2009, and »Von der raffinierten Kunst, jemanden in einen Tümpel zu stoßen«, 2013) juxtapose song and experiment. The first pure concept album, including now-permanent members ALEXANDER (Schrottgrenze, Station 17), Guido vom Flockenberg (Back On The Road), Isabella Stellmann (pedagogue) and Zopfus (ByteFM), is »Der Egel vom Tegel - Die kleine Rock-Operette der Dirty Dishes« (2010), followed by »Round about Ignaz Kiechle«(2013). The latter brings together songs that deal with significant events in the life of former Agriculture Minister Kiechle and were recorded freely improvised in just one recording session.

The second album release on Cordial Recordings is a re-release of Afrodisia's highly collectible album 'Elephant Sunrise' from 1980 on Comma. the album is limited i pressing to 500 units. Afrodisia were combination of US soldiers with local musicians from Worms, Germany that were formed in 1978 and recorded two albums during their years together with 'Elephant Sunrise' being the only one that was actually released. Cordial Recordings will be issuing the previously unreleased album in 2019. 'Elephant Sunrise' has become a revered album by collectors because of the high quality of songs featured on the album which cross from soul to funk to disco and jazz with great ease. The band's leader Darnell Summers is originally from Detroit and is the brother of Headhunter Bill Summers who also features on the album as a player and songwriter. 'Sugar Free' is highly regarded by aficionados on the soul scene for it's glowing summer sounds and is one of the two songs that Bill Summers co-wrote on the album. This is one album not to be missed.

"Book Of Life" ist letztlich auch der Grund dafür, warum das Londoner Label "Stories" als weltweite Neuauflage noch einmal in die Läden bringt. Der Zeitpunkt ist gut gewählt, da 2018 perkussiver Ambient eine Art Renaissance erlebt, unter anderem befeuert durch die Wiederveröffentlichung von Midori Takadas wegweisendem Album "Through The Looking Glass" in 2017 sowie Ryuichi Sakamotos "Comeback", dessen Soundtracks durchaus Parallelen zu Masayoshis Storytelling-Klangwelten aufweisen. In den vorangegangenen Jahren fokussierte der ausgebildete Schlagzeuger sein künstlerisches Schaffen ausschließlich auf das Vibraphon und prägte so einen ganz eigenen Ansatz zwischen Ambient und moderner Komposition. Das Vibraphon "ist ein recht junges Instrument, und doch wird es fast immer auf dieselbe Art gespielt", so der Berliner Exilant. "Ich habe das Gefühl, dass es da noch viel mehr zu erkunden gibt mit dieser spannenden Erfindung."

In a full moon illuminated clear night while experimenting with various unique herbs he accidentally found a recipe to create warm and ravishing music. He firmly believes that music is his infinite source to gather strength and positive energy After years of strengthening himself and shaping vibrant sounds Aussteiger decided to share his delightful music with the world. Griffit Vigo, a real innovator in the Gqom genre who grew up in Clermont and started to produce music around 2007, has attained a legendary status amongst his peers as he was one of the originators of gqom, inventing sounds as Umshanelo (meaning broom in Zulu) and chopping vocals that everybody then started to sample. Many of his beats were appropriated or sampled, so now the time has finally come for him to show his talent and unique style and inspire the listeners in the same way he inspired everyone in Durban. This single introduces his forthcoming album on Gqom Oh!, to be released in September/October 2018 entitled 'Gqom is Alive'. "For the final part of SchleiBen 5 - 8, Emotional Response welcomes two Scottish based artists to close out the series. In Jon Keliehor you have a world and music traveler with history from psychedelic rock to fourth world exposure, alongside one of the best electronic producers of the last decade, Lord Of The Isles. As the drummer of West Coast folk rock / psychedelic band The Daily Flash, Keleihor spent much of the mid-60 based in and out of Seattle and Los Angles, playing alongside the likes of Jefferson Airplane, Cream and The Doors, before an increasing interest in meditation and philosophies outside of the 'rock' realm led him to England in the early 70s where he become involved in dance theatre. Teaching Advanced Rhythmic Music Studies at the London Contemporary Dance School, his music composition style became influenced by his studies of world music. Finally settling in Glasgow for over 20 years, while running the Luminous Music label and Gamelan Naga Mas, his earlier recordings for labels like Indipop, Touch and Bruton have seen a recent revival, with music appearing recently on contemporaries Optimo Music and Invisible Inc. The wonderful recordings included here span over 3 decades, from sessions at the Luminous Studio at The Diorama Theatre, London in the early 80s, through to recent field-work based recordings in the Cairngorms. Reconfigured and updated, a common thread appears through the pieces - a sense of longing and appreciation - as Jon's knowledge of outer-national instrumentation alongside equally extensive travels around the globe gives the recordings a seamless blend of organic craft. The tonal consonances within unlikely combinations of instruments, with tuned glasses (tarang), tabla, jaw harps, clay flutes and ocarinas, Chinese instruments that include Xiao-Bo and Xiao-Ping, large Noah bells, small and larges gongs all employed, the recordings have been reconstructed, edited and updated via sampling and digital processing. Featuring the playing of John "Jhalib" Millar - the extraordinarily gifted musician and tabla player - who has appeared with an EP on sister label, Emotional Rescue (ERC029), sadly recently deceased, the contribution acts as a tribute and more. To close, the music of Lord Of The Isles is an excellent companion to Jon's work. Neil McDonald's list of club-based releases on labels CockTail D'Amor, Ene, Firecracker, Permanent Vacation, ESP Institute and Phonica is comprehensive and exemplary, however within his productions has often been an other-worldly element, a space between the beats and occasional fully ambient pieces. Approached originally for series one of SchleiBen, the 7 pieces included were worth the wait, a journey in themselves and the perfect completion. Spanning almost 5 years, the majority were written during an extended exile in the Cairngorms. The lifting, ethereal, but melodic nature of the music fits that aesthetic. Blue skies, snow, long walks, space to think, but with a longing and appreciation of family and friends. The solitary nature found in SchleiBen 8 and the geographical incidence of both artist's recordings including sessions in the Scottish Highlands fits the series ideals and is a nice closure. Lloyd Miller, Jahrgang 1938, ist ein US-amerikanischer Musikethnologe, Arrangeur, Komponist und Multiinstrumentalist. Millers Karriere begann in den 1950ern mit Dixieland. Aufenthalte im Nahen und Mittleren Osten weckten sein Interesse an orientalischer und speziell persischer Musik. Das machte aus Miller einen Pionier des Oriental-Jazz. Während der Siebziger hatte er als Kurosh Ali Khan sogar eine eigene Fernsehshow im Iran. Die Sendung lief sieben Jahre und brachte dem Musiker eine große Popularität ein Neben diversen erkussionsinstrumenten spielt Miller Bass, Flöten, Kamantsche, Klarinette, Oud, Piano, Santur, Sehtar, Tabla und Zarb. 2010 veröffentlichte Miller mit der britischen, vom Afrofuturismus angehauchten Spiritual-Jazz-Band The Heliocentrics ein gemeinsames Album, das Strut nun in einer limitierten Auflage von 1000 Exemplaren als Doppel-LP neu auflegt. Hier beweist das Londoner Musikerkollektiv, das im Jahr zuvor (2009) mit Mulatu Astatke, dem großen Ethio-Jazz-Veteran aus Äthiopien, ein viel beachtetes Werk in Umlauf gebracht hatte, einmal mehr seine musikalische und instrumentale Vielseitigkeit

When Michaela Meise performed at WestGermany at Kottbusser Tor in Berlin-Kreuzberg on March 20, 2015, accompanying herself on the accordion, I was perplexed. I knew her first album from 2010, which was about hymns (»Preis dem Todesüberwinder«, originally released on Clouds Hill, available as a download and stream through my label from July 2018 on), but what she was playing weren't spiritual songs! I wanted to put this music out on my label: the songs sounded sad, aloof and wistful but also proud, determined and unerring.

The album title »I am Greek« is a tribute to Melina Mercouri's album »Je Suis Grecque!«, which was released in 1971 when Mercouri was deprived of citizenship by the Greek military junta. Mercouri lived - like Mikis Theodorakis and many other cultural workers - in exile. Meise's album is dedicated to the chanson scene of post-war Europe, whose songs were popularly folksy, but also political. Some talk about the experience of war, the Shoah and labor migration. Michaela Meise has translated the Greek, French and Romanian songs into German (with the help of Aliki Marini and Carmen Gheorghe) so that the lyrics are understandable to a German audience, a gesture that was also common in the European chanson scene. More than half of the songs are by Mikis Theodorakis. He knows the translations and new recordings, gave his blessing and just noted a wrong tone ... The other pieces on the album are by the French artists Barbara and George Moustaki and the German musician Alexandra. There is also a Romanian folk song.

The album was recorded by Michaela Meise together with members of the group Isolation Berlin as well as the guest singers Carmen Gheorge and Dirk von Lowtzow (Tocotronic). The producer was David Specht (Isolation Berlin).

Michaela Meise and me both have intimate relations with Greece - Michaela has innumerable holiday memories with parents and brother, I have a friend who lives in Athens and whom I have been visiting regularly for about ten years now. This friend, the graphic designer Vasilis Marmatakis, styled Meise's album using an impressive, scary photograph taken in May 1985 during the occupation of Polytechnio Athens. Together, we opted for an elaborate packaging made by a bookbinder, a so-called Japanese tip-on-gatefold cover. The packaging reminds us of the records that were made in Greece for export and taken by German tourists as a souvenir back home.

Der Leipziger Produzent Kolja Gerstenberg hat bereits hervorragende Tracks für die Suol "Summer Daze" Compilations der Jahre 2016 und 2017 beigesteuert. Schiggeria, das Projekt bei dem Kolja mit seinem Kollegen Atbin Milani zusammenarbeitet, ist auch auf unserer neuen "Hallo Montag" Compilation mit der wunderbar souligen Partybombe "Muggelhausen" vertreten. Und weil die beiden die ganze Zeit hochqualitative Tracks raushauen als wäre es nichts, ist es nun höchste Zeit für ihre erste, eigene Suol-EP. Die "Saver Flex" EP wartet mit nicht weniger als vier überaus eingängigen Housetracks auf. Wir sind beeindruckt!

King Coya ist das digitale Alter Ego des argentinischen Musikers, Produzenten und Komponisten Gaby Kerpel. In den Neunzigern entwickelte Kerpel die furiose Theater-Performance "De la Guarda" mit, später setzte er seine Kreativität für das preisgekrönte Showprojekt "Fuerza Bruta" ein. Abgesehen davon ist er bekannt für die innovative Verbindung lateinamerikanischer Folklore mit moderner elektronischer Musik. Seit seinem 2009 veröffentlichten Solodebüt "Cumbias de Villa Donde" fertigte der König Remixe für Acts wie Amadou & Mariam, Brazilian Girls, Julieta Venegas, Luzmila Carpio, Chancha Via Circuito, Tom Tom Club, Petrona Martinez und Magin Díaz an. Weiterhin beteiligte er sich als Mitglied der Band Terraplén an den Aufnahmen zu "Tira Torito" (2010). Mit "Tierra de King Coya" setzt Kerpel den eingeschlagenen Pfad weiter fort. Zur Geltung kommen neben kolumbianischer Cumbia und argentinischem Folk insbesondere traditionell in den Anden gebräuchliche Instrumente wie das Zupfinstrument Ronroco oder die Schnabelflöte Tarka. Natürlich werden alle Sounds vom King so lange am Computer aufbereitet, verfremdet und geschichtet, bis sich explosiv-tanzbare Songs ergeben. Neun Stück sind es auf "Tierra de King Coya" geworden. Bei diesen wird er von La Yegros, Iara Nardi, Isabel Pinedo Rengifo, La Walichera, Balvina Ramos und Queen Colas am Mikrofon begleitet.

Bruno Pronsato hat schon länger erfolgreich Erwartungen in der Techno- und House-Szene untergraben. Im früheren Leben war er Schlagzeuger einer Speed-Metal-Band mit einer ernsthaften Leidenschaft für Zwölftonmusik. 2005 zog er nach Berlin und eroberte die Aufmerksamkeit der elektronischen Musikwelt mit seiner LP "Why Can't We Be Like Us". Pronsato kehrt nun mit seinem neuen Album zurück ins Rampenlicht. In Zusammenarbeit mit Yonatan Levi hat er "A Face Wasted On The Theatre" geschrieben und produziert. Diese Verbindung ist bereits bestens eingespielt: Seit 2014 arbeiten die beiden immer wieder zusammen. Das neue Album entstand in zwei verschiedenen Studios im Prenzlauer Berg, der Wahlheimat des Texaners Steven Ford, wie Pronsato bürgerlich heißt, - und zwar meist nachmittags und nicht etwa in tiefer Nacht. Auf sechs der acht Songs ist Levi alias L.A.Teen erneut am Bass zu hören, weitere Gäste sind der Komponist und Produzent Peter Gordon und der israelische Saxofonist Yonatan Yudkowitz. Auch Levi stammt aus Tel Aviv und ist klassisch ausgebildeter Gitarrist und Bassist. Er ging einst in die USA und machte sich in der New Yorker Jazz-Szene einen Namen.

RSN ist Produzent, DJ und Musiker aus der griechischen Metropole Athen. "Strange Eyes" ist bereits sein viertes Album und gleichzeitig sein Debüt auf Agogo. Es enthält 13 Songs, die von Electronica und Trip-HopSounds beeinflusst sind, die typische Elemente aber mit ganz ungewohnten Klängen zusammenbringen. HipHop-Beats mit fetten Basslinien treffen auf effektvoll melodische Gitarren, eine Hammond-Orgel und atmosphärische, analoge Synthesizer schaffen einen idealen Klangraum für die Musik des Griechen. RSN hat zudem zahlreiche außergewöhnliche Sänger und Musiker als Gäste für diese Produktion eingeladen. Seit 2009 ist er als DJ bei der bekannten britischen Band Belleruche aktiv. Mit diesen Meistern des Souls tritt er regelmäßig bei vielen Konzerten in Griechenland und im Ausland auf, sei es in Serbien, in der Türkei, Russland, Schweiz, Frankreich, England oder Ukraine. In den vergangenen Jahren ist er so auf den großen Festivals in der ganzen Welt zu Gast gewesen. Als DJ hat er selber die Live-Shows von Top-Künstlern wie Alpha Blondy, Wax Taylor, DJ Krush, Parov Stellar und anderen eröffnet.

'Middle of the Road Less Travelled' is not only the debut release by Michal Turtle on Light of Other Days, it is also his first new material released since the amazing reissues put out by Music From Memory in recent years. The three tracks on this EP were written and produced by Michal in 2017 with additional production and guitar playing by Light of Other Days' very own HOVE.

The two met back in 2016 when HOVE contacted Michal after he heard the 12' «Are you Psychic» and was blown away. As it turned out Michal was living in Basel which is only a short train ride away by train from the Light of Other Days home base in Zurich. The two started meeting and playing music together. Soon after, they put together a live-show for Michal's music which had its debut show at Phono Festival in Denmark in 2017. During this time, they started working on new music together as well. The result is this EP.

The music on 'Middle of the Road Less Travelled' is a continuation of Michal's musical exploration into other-worldly territory. Michal is a master in building hypnotic textures from repetitive rhythms that collide with trippy and atmospheric synthesizers. The delayed and dubby guitar lines by HOVE were recorded during rehearsal sessions in Michal's living room in Basel and the last track of the EP 'Agallo (Real)' ends with vocals performed by Lucianne Lassalle. Besides playing in local bands with Michal back in the 80s, Lucianne also performed and co- wrote early Michal Turtle tracks like 'Phantoms of Dreamland' or 'Village Voice' from his first record 'Music from the Living Room'.

It's been over 10 years since the release of Gui Boratto's breakthrough full length debut 'Chromophobia'. As to what its title suggests, he shook up the techno game with a contrast of lushly coloured minimal grooves and melody, whilst many will recall that the album included the highlight single Beautiful Life' which became a dance floor anthem for that era. Four albums in and countless EPs and remixes under his belt, the Brazilian producer's unique savoir-faire in carving out a functional album out of diversely routed singles and features is back at it on his fifth studio LP, 'Pentagram'. Here Gui Boratto lays down a nuanced 12-track narrative that reinvigorates his signature sound into a refreshingly different perspective that feels all too familiar - including the return of Beautiful Life' vocalist (and Gui Boratto's wife) Luciana Villanova on the single "Overload".

Through his signature kaleidoscopic approach, Boratto delivers an album built as a far-reaching hub-and-spoke system, broadly inclusive as can be. From the opening cut, 'The Walker' - hot on the trail of Tears For Fears 'Elemental' (one of Boratto's "favourite 80's bands") - to the hi-NRG euphoria of 'Forgotten' and its pounding tech alter ego 'Forgive Me'. "I was going into 2 different directions", Boratto says, "the typical indie- electronic-rock' Boratto kind of production like It's Majik' or Like You' and a much more techno approach." He goes on, "I decided to split them into two twin sister songs. When I play live I always put these two songs together."

The Brazilian Producer further embraces the pop-friendly essence of his past work on tracks like 'The Phoenix', featuring vocalist Nathan Berger, and 'Overload', both melding acidulous synthlines with laser-precise breaks, vox hooks and drops calibrated for extended radio and club use, although sieved through his distinctive rainbow-hued musical prism. For the symbolists out there, the album's pared-down closer '618' duration accidentally happens to equate the proportions of the said pentagram. "Coincidence" Boratto questions, and capsulises, "not so ufanista and supporter of Brazilian neo-concretism, but I guess the brazilian sculptor Lygia Clark also inspired me a lot. Not the meaning of her sculptures, but the shape of the hinge of most of her work. I've wanted to transmit the scientific pentagram's point of view. It's not a religious kind of thing."

Whereas 'Spur' (a field-tested 808 and 909-heavy "purist track", "very, very old school" Boratto insists) and 'Alcazar' are sheer smooth-edged four-to- the-floor epics, the album also shares its lot of startling moments, such as with the John Barry'esque 'Scene 2' (with a hint of Amon Tobin, 'Easy Muffin' style, throw in) and its refined string-laden buildup, 100% fitted for a 007 opening credit sequence, or with 'Hallucination' (feat B.T.) and the further James Holden-ish title-track 'Pentagram' (think 'The Idiots Are Winning'), "one of those exercises I did when I got my Buchla modular synth" Boratto analyses, "I think I've used more then 30 different snares, with different delays and reverbs. The whole song is alive". And so is 'Pentagram' in its entirety: alive and definitely just as manifold and hopeful as its architectonics are the stuff of science and dreams all at once.

Hier legt Gui Boratto ein Zwölf-Track-Narrativ vor, das seine Handschrift auf erquickende Weise wiederbelebt. Wiederbelebt wird auch die Stimme von - Beautiful Life (die der Frau Gui Borattos gehört) auf dem Stück - Overload .

Durch seinen charakteristisch kaleidoskopischen Ansatz liefert Boratto ein Album, das gebaut ist wie die Speichen deines Fahrrads, von dem Opener - The Walker - direkt auf der Spur von Tears For Fears - Elemental (einer von Borattos - favourite 80's bands ) - zur Hi-NRG-Euphorie von - Forgotten und seinem stampfenden Counterpart - Forgive Me . - Ich bin in zwei unterschiedlichen Richtungen gegangen , sagt Boratto: - den typischen ,Indie-Electronic-Rock'-Weg wie in - It's Majik oder - Like You und den Techno-Weg. Er fügt hinzu: - Ich hab mich entschieden jedem Track seinen Zwillings-Track an die Seite zu stellen. Immer wenn ich live spiele lege ich die zwei Stücke zusammen.

B.T.) oder der James-Holden-hafte Titeltrack - Pentagram (wir denken da an - The Idiots Are Winning ) wäre da zu nennen. - Einer dieser Übungen, die ich gemacht habe, als ich meinen Buchla-Modular-Synthesizer bekommen habe, war , erinnert sich Boratto, - mehr als 30 verschiedene Snares, Delays und Reverbs zu verwenden. Der ganze Song sollte am Leben sein. Und so ist - Pentagram im Ganzen: lebendig und sicher genau so vielfältig wie sein Bauplan, der auch der Wissenschaft und den Träumen zugrundeliegt.

Baiano & Os Novos Caetanos was a band formed by prolific and multi-talented Brazilian comedians Chico Anysio and Arnaud Rodrigues. Satirising Brazil's Tropicalia movement in the 1970s, the duo took a friendly crack at the likes of Caetano Veloso and psychedelic rockers Novos Baianos, with their righteous tropicalista alter-egos 'Baiano' and 'Paulinho Boca de Profeta' poetically denouncing the dictatorship while simultaneously mocking those who took themselves too seriously. Jazz funk legends Azymuth play backing band with keyboard maestro Jose Roberto Bertrami also responsible for the arrangements on the album. Azymuth's free and funky psych sounds combine with accordion, harmonica, brass and plenty of rural Brazilian rhythms, for a hugely varied album drawing on MPB, funk and soulful samba rock. The album also features Orlandivo who co-wrote many of the songs, and renowned multi-instrumentalist and producer Durval Ferreira.
