Lucca Leeloo releases his new LP “Prosperous”, the sequel to his debut LP “Beyond Infinity” from 2020. Once again he’s collaborating with Italoconnection and Fred Ventura & Paolo Gozzetti have given the album their own special vintage-modern italo-disco treatment. The lead single “Say Goodbye” is a duet with the french singer and multi artist Pierre Pascual. The main themes of the album revolve around longing, transformation and redemption.

Mario Acquaviva’s 1983 ‘Notturno Italiano’, one of the most sought after italian boogie songs, receives a full on rework/reconstruction from Azymuth’s Alex Malheiros and Daniel Maunick of Far Out fame. Disco’s most erotic walking, talking light show Sexy Lazer makes his debut on Riotvan with three delightfully cosmic oddities and odysseys. At points sleazy, at other points sparkling, forever loaded and coded with space, each of the three originals promises full immersion and escapism.
Zone out to the woodwind wonderment of ‘Fluting In Space’, freak out to the synth-powered bliss of ‘Future’ and totally trip out to the much darker and pensive Black Strobe-like ‘Jing Jang’. ATTENTION! Jimmy Patrick Longfort's hit arising from Düsseldorfs cult hang-out Ratinger Hof in 1987 is now officially reissued for the whole universe. All three original tracks got remastered plus TAFS – the Netherlands best kept secret and part of the group Voertuig – produced a pushing, extra groovy instrumental rework of the title track. The 12" is housed in a full cover artwork based on the original with extensive liner notes by Rudi Esch (Electri_city, Die Krupps) on an extra insert.

The title track ATTENTION! is about a young man, waiting in vain for his love's return but instead of a reunion the distance even grows and she leaves him with destination America. For sure this causes a serious and hard to bear heartbreak. Scream it out loud on the dancefloor and dance the pain away!

On rework duty we got Offer Van Kesteren under his Tapedeck Adventures From Space moniker. Slick funk grooves and super galaxy sounds that will heat you up. Burning hot.

Side B starts off with Ma'mbaillé, French lyrics, funky keys and steel drums – a true feelgood song that will make you dance wherever you are. This one is followed by Do You Really Love Me a highlife love song that closes this record properly. Play it again.

In a time where dancing has a kind of nostalgic feeling attached to it, Glossy Mistakes kicks off its brand new series of dancefloor-oriented EPs, Glossyfloor. The starting point of this adventure from the Madrid based label comes with the reissue of the highly demanded Cover Boys’ banger ‘Reality’, an absolute ode to one of human beings most basic instincts.

Canadian producer Charles Biddle Jr. is the man behind the Cover Boys project, who arranged, wrote and sang ‘Reality’. Originally released in 1984, this anthem seamlessly captures the 80s essence with an addictive bassline and a pop-infused chorus recalling a summery euphoric atmosphere. One of those tracks that sticks to your mind while having a strong power to move your body.

A2, the reggae version of the ‘Reality,’ is a refreshing cover with fantastic arrangements that flips the mood but holds the essence. The B-side contains a remix from one of Australia’s finest producers, Hysteric, that provides brings his magical touch focusing his efforts in turning the original version even more dancefloor friendly, making it a perfect tool for DJs.

The frontcover artwork, Fluo Flowers, comes from Barcelona based painter, Jordi Aguilar, capturing with his painting the colorful soul of the whole release. Limited edition, 500 copies, remastered in Amsterdam by Wouter Brandenburg.

If there is one musician out there that has inspired Opolopo more than anyone else it's Herbie Hancock, so we of course had to make an EP solely dedicated to Herbie.

The two classic Hancock jams 'Butterfly' and 'Hang Up Your Hang Ups' have been remade with the Opolopo formula.
With the added production behind these two epic grooves Opolopo has upgraded Herbie into version 2.0, it's a near perfect musical match.

Paula Tape has developed a signature style in front of listeners eyes and ears with her drum patterns and her voice samples. After ‘Agua Congas EP’ on SOBO was welcomed warmly around the world and opened the door for club-oriented releases on Rhythm Section and Permanent Vacation. The original track channels electro and dreamy vibes carefully crafted by Volantis with Paula Tape’s hypnotic voice, all blending together for a single summer heater.

Remix by Elias Mazian, that recently pleased us with a sophisticated electronic pop release, kicks things off with a beautiful, melodic, overwhelming tune.

Tornado Wallace revisited the original version with his spacious sense of deep house groove and an unique, relentless drum programming.

The original single from Escape From New York finally gets an official reissue. Originally released in 1983 ‘Save Our Love’ was released a year before ‘Fire in My Heart’ and sets out their highly effective fusion of New Wave, Disco, Italo and Post Punk. Featuring Jaki Graham and D.C Lee on backing vocals, the 12” also includes an instrumental mix and cult classic ‘Slow Beat’ (Dance Mix).

Escape From New York were short lived and disbanded in 1984 following the release of ‘Fire in My Heart’, ultimately buckling under the pressure of commercial expectations for their innovative brand of pop music. Fast forward to 2023 and history has been kind and these singles are now regarded as being pioneering classics.

Dan Kye is the mysteriously evoked moniker from multi-instrumentalist, producer, and vocal sensation Jordan Rakei. The New Zealand-born artist - who now resides in London - presents his first long-player from Dan Kye, ‘Small Moments’, on Bradley Zero’s Rhythm Section INTL. An ode to the dancefloor, the musical project was born out of Jordan’s lockdown experience, created from the comfort of his own home. Recorded with just a laptop, extra live instruments and guest musicians, ‘Small Moments’ seamlessly transcends across electronica, jazz and funk, with each genre being effortlessly fused with Jordan’s melancholy vocals. Allowing himself to push the boundaries, Jordan’s Dan Kye moniker draws on the energetic and uplifting elements of house and techno and perfectly mixes it with the sultry vocals and emotion that come with the live elements we know and love from Jordan Rakei. The record offers listeners a journey through more floor-heavy tracks such as ‘Mogeri’ and ‘Raro’ to more groove infused offerings such as ‘Rainbow Road’ (which is named after one of the maps in Mario Kart and inspired by the energy of Prince’s iconic live concert at The Aladdin in Las Vegas), whilst tracks, like ‘Sober’, take on a more lyrical and anthemic feel.

Jordan Rakei: “Rhythm Section INTL was my entry point into dancefloor orientated music, and it was Bradley who asked me whether I could head in that direction so he could play my music out in the clubs. Dan Kye has still got melodies, but the main focus is to keep it high energy.”

After meeting Bradley Zero online whilst living in Australia, Jordan eventually moved to London in 2014. The same day he landed, he went straight to a Rhythm Section party to meet Bradley, and it was here that he first got a taste for house music. He enjoyed Rhythm Section INTL’s ability to draw on both live and electronic talent; and thus, after Bradley asked him for some productions for the parties, the idea for Dan Kye was born. ‘Small Moments’ is a musical masterpiece that can be enjoyed as much on the dancefloor as it can in the comfort of your own home and is a perfect step into Jordan’s landscape and idealism of dance orientated music.

Bradley Zero - “In around 2014 the proprietor of the famous Northside Records in Melbourne handed me a self released 12” from a new, unknown artist based in Brisbane. It was Jordan Rakei - Franklin’s Room. I’d been home almost a year before I actually got round to listening to it and I remember that moment like it was yesterday. I lay down on the sofa, put the record on and was transported! The Dan Kye project is a testament to the experimental and independent ethos Jordan lives by and is a product of an artist reaching full stride but not afraid to still try something new. This ‘Small Moments’ LP was conceived in a record store, born in a club on Rye Lane and is now flying the nest, throwing caution to the wind and making a bold statement.”

Over this four-track EP Koichi has selected some of his favourite Japanese Jazz-funk and Jazz-fusion tracks from the 70's and 80s'.

Hammer returns to his nascent Italo Hiits label for the second release of Hi-NRG grooves made in an Italo-inspired period of furiously productive creativity. Road tested on Hammer's global livestream at London’s Saatchi Gallery and his supporting set for Bicep at their recent sold out Brixton Academy date, this latest pair of effervescent disco cuts are fully designed for dancing, and a taste of many more to come from both Hammer and Italo Hiits.

Luuk van Dijk has unveiled his hotly-anticipated debut album First Contact, out 11th November on his own Dark Side Of The Sun label. The Dutch DJ and producer’s maiden LP is the end result of a long and intense voyage of discovery.

Years in the making, it’s a project that Luuk can fully stand behind and be proud of. Next to a search for his own identity and his own place in music, it has also become a passage
through time.

By far his largest body of work to date, the 13-track release kicks off with the suitably-titled ‘Cosmiq’, a deep, grooving sonic exploration that immediately sets the tone. “Because of this
track I wanted to make an album to showcase my other kind of music that people won’t maybe expect of me,” Luuk explains.

Next up is the shimmering, ethereal sounds of ‘Love You’, a track that features the irresistible vocals of US singer-songwriter Dawn Richard and will be released as a single in October. “She really brought this track to a whole new level,” says Luuk. “I couldn’t be more happy with the result.”

Further collaborations come in the form of ‘Wolf’, a majestic, strings-led house cut featuring Steve Burton of oneofmanysteves; ‘Master Plug’, a deep, jackin’ number with Chicago artist
Kid Enigma; and the Detroit-indebted ‘Together We Rise’, punctuated by the spiritual vocals of MC Roga. “I tried making a track the way they used to make music,” Luuk says of the latter.

“With as few machines as possible, just a mixer, sampler and some synths.” Additional highlights include the enchanting ‘Let The Bass Kick’, orchestral ‘Lightning
Striking’ and hypnotic ‘Hot Stuff’, before ‘Knowing How To Love’ closes things out on a peculiarly wistful note. “The last track of the album, also a track that started as an interlude and
ended up being a full song,” says Luuk.

“This song basically sums up how I’ve been feeling the years 2020 and 2021, very emotional, sad, but also hopeful. Everything will be alright.”

One of the hottest new names coming out of Amsterdam’s bustling club scene, Luuk van Dijk is currently making waves in international waters with his infectious take on spirited house
music.

After a bit of down-time, Spacetalk Records returns with something special: a stunning compilation of obscurities, rare cuts and secret weapons compiled by label co-founder Danny McLewin under his Skyrager alias.

Although most widely known as one half of Psychemagik, McLewin has long been regarded as one of the UK’s most decorated crate-diggers – a DJ and record dealer recognised for his ability to unearth slept-on gems, private press obscurities and campfire-friendly curios. He’s already showcased his curatorial skills on a string of acclaimed and now sought-after comps – see Psychemagik’s Magik Cyrkles, Magik Sunrise and Magik Sunset Pt 1 & 2 – but Traces of Illusion marks the first time McLewin has put together a collection as Skyrager.

There’s no grand concept behind Traces of Illusion, though McLewin’s selections are universally tactile, sun-baked and effortlessly summery, evoking images of nights spent camped out in the Californian desert or beneath the vibrant canopy of an English forest at dusk. As you’d expect, there are no well-known anthems or ‘big tunes’ here, just an inspired selection of largely unknown musical nuggets oozing in quality.

For now, the track list is under wraps but you can be sure there are plenty of highlights to savour amongst the 15 tracks which all add up to an eye-opening, head-soothing journey through the dustiest corners of McLewin’s record collection.

Introducing Jaisiel; The Canary Islands’ answer to Bacalao. After years modestly honing his craft in Madrid and Tenerife and re-appropriating forgotten dollar bin gems for his label Ears On Earth, Jaisiel has found a home on Antinote with his shimmering ‘On the Universe’ EP. Tinged with a late 80s sound are 3 tracks of convertible top down, shirts unbuttoned, neon glow dance music.

Opening the Maxi 12” is the ecstatic ‘Talk To Nature’ replete with chirps, coos and woofs. Its catchy melody a subtle nod to ATB’s seminal anthem 9PM (Till I Come) which was once quoted as sublimating sexuality with its “purring titillation”. There is an equally evocative fluidity to ‘Talk To Nature’ found in Jaisiel’s use of pitch bent guitar, climaxing snare rolls and pounding kick drum. However it’s all very lighthearted when compared to ‘Embrace The Unknown’ a driving and mystical track filled with vocoder commands, tinny drones and synth stabs whose accompanying pointed bass line makes this the perfect song for peak time transitions. Raving into the sunrise on the Carretera El Saler is ‘On The Universe’ a contemplative and melancholic closer. Still vibrating with residual dance NRG, the central vocoder breakdown beckons you to reach for trance, to consider The Universe, as it were.

What ties together this On The Universe EP is Jaisiel’s penchant to upcycle 80s and 90s trance dance sounds in a clear and fresh flavour, distinctly Spanish, while simultaneously using just-enough-cheese catch phrases without being too cliché or pastiche. Once again, Innocent Soul is back on his label Strictly Street Sound, but this time with the house music “teacher” Paul Johnson on the remix duties. Two banging original cuts plus a dancefloor dub version of the title track by PJ himself, for an effective 3-track EP.

Since 2014, Brighter Days has been a part of the rich tapestry of Amsterdam nightlife – a semi-regular party promoting positivity and inclusiveness run by resident DJs Kamma and Masalo. On the back of the platform provided by the party, the duo has notched up a string of memorable club and festival appearances, a regular Brighter Days show on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM, and a memorable Boiler Room set streamed live from Dekmantel Festival.

Now Kamma and Masalo have taken the next step and curated a Brighter Days compilation for Rush Hour, a collection that does a terrific job in offering up slept-on and unreleased gems – including a clutch of their own tried-and-tested re-edits – while also accurately representing the sound, style and ethos of the event that inspired it.

Like Kamma and Masalo’s event, which invariably takes place in intimate dancing spaces in Amsterdam, the Brighter Days compilation offers up an open-minded, club-friendly soundtrack that joins the dots between crate-digging obscurities from the recent and distant past, fresh cuts, ‘secret weapons’ and previously unreleased music from young, local producers who have become regular faces on Brighter Days dancefloors.

Across nine tracks, Kamma and Masalo deliver an enticing blend of tactile and colourful house, disco, basement-ready throb-jobs, inspired dancefloor dubs and righteous boogie jams, some of which are appearing on vinyl for the very first time (see Haroumi Hosono and Yasuhiko’s ‘Turquois’, an exceedingly rare, CD-only chunk of deep, throbbing tribal house intoxication).

There are highlights everywhere you look, from the piano-house rush of the ‘Subterranean Mix Edit’ of S’Xpress’s overlooked 1990 single ‘Nothing To Lose’ and the South African Kwaito-boogie brilliance of Cisco The Champ’s ‘Move On’, to the Italo-disco excellence of Hugh Bullen’s ‘Alisand’, and Mr Fingers’ jacking 1988 remix of ‘We’re Gonna Work It Out’ by fellow Chicagoan house producers North/Clybourn.

Kamma and Masalo’s remixing and re-editing skills are put in the spotlight, too. There’s the edit of Discotheque’s 1982 Dutch-Belgian disco classic ‘For Your Love’ and a previously unreleased ‘dub’ edit of French-Cameroonian artist Anyzette’s 1984 gem ‘Baladoun’, a low-slung slice of drum machine-rich body music that blurs the boundaries between Italo-disco, Afro-boogie and proto-techno.

Completing the package are two cuts that demonstrate the duo’s love of showcasing tracks by young and little-known Dutch producers. Peffa’s ‘Routine’, an immersive and emotive treat that blends elements of deep house and Detroit techno, is just one of numerous unreleased tracks by the producer that Kamma and Masalo has been showcasing in their sets in recent years, while Desmon – whose ‘Submerge’ is a woozy, off-beat deep house treat – has been a regular on Brighter Days dancefloors since the start. It’s a fitting nod to what makes Brighter days special: a close-knit community of dancers and inspired, lesser-known music old and new.

Disco don, insatiable digger and edit wizard, the King of Nothing, AKA Kon, returns on a purple themed 7” with fellow Canadian edit aficionado Nick Bike.

Kon’s 45 pairs an A/B of classic disco and R&B that has already been proven effective on dance floors. Absolute essential for the party crate.

A pioneer in his field, Etienne de Crécy remains more than ever one of the pillars of house music made in France. In his three-decade career, the French producer has recorded some of the world's most important electronic music albums, including Tempovision, released in 2000, arguably his mostaccomplishedto date.

What is a Dirty Banana? It’s a tasty cocktail that blends ingredients like rum, Kahlúa and banana liqueur. But who the hell are the Dirty Bananas?

The name masks a Viennese duo consisting of DJ Cut Ex (Urbs & Cutex) and Addy-F (3MinutenEi). The two producers dug deep in the crates to create a delicious recipe, incorporating the finest Disco flavors from the 70s & 80s. In a lucky turn of events, six of their cuts made their way to Luv Shack Records a couple of months ago; thus, the Cocktails EP was born.

The EP opens with “No Lie”, a low slung, cheerful synth-funk jam that feels a bit like a lost B-Side from a certain furry Italian edit duo.

“Melody” takes notes from a beloved oddball jazz funk classic, while maintaining the boogie flavor with plenty of machine drums, synth bass and a perfectly quirky lead solo to boot.

On “Draft”, the Bananas ramp up the tempo to unleash a short but tasty disco stomper with extra crispy drums.

The laid back, percussion heavy disco chugger “Gentle Breeze” comes packed with an extra portion of familiar samples and chopped up drums, while “I’m U” takes a leftfield disco classic, and, in a no-nonsense approach, loops the hell out of it while blending it with a more moody sample.

Lastly, “Fairmax” circles around a jazzy organ melody on top of a super-dry, yet punchy drum-machine loop. What a shockingly delicious journey!

This is “Apulian Strings” by Innocent Soul, the third vinyl release from See-Saw, featuring four gorgeous sample-house themed tunes. In at the top spot is “Apulian Strings”, an uplifting disco infused track making ample use of a soaring, anthemic string sample alongside a stomping beat and heavy bassline. Up next at the A2 position is “Get Do It”, with a looped vocal sample and super catchy bassline that takes things in an altogether funkier direction. Kicking off the B side and keeping the funky vibe alive is “Don’t Be Shy”. A cool yet quirky track that cleverly utilises a nifty 2 beat sample, an unexpected yet pleasing vocal refrain and irresistible beat. Rounding things off is “My House Is Funky” which, as the name suggests, has a distinctly house fuelled flavour, featuring synths and samples in equal measure. The perfect end to this magnificent EP.

The band kicked-off in 1979 with their successful debut A.G.N.E.S. / Look Around and later on developed their style from New Wave to Italo-Disco influenced Synth-Pop (‘The Claim’) and a decade later even touches of New Beat (‘You’re The One’).

‘Love In Motion’ is a beautiful mixture of 1000 Ohm’s repertoire. The release comes with remastered versions of the original 12″ version, instrumental and on top a DJ friendly ‘Vanzetti & Sacco’ edit.

We love to just try things at Athens of the North and when Clara and Theo (one of our PR friends) were chilling with us at pikes one evening it came up in conversation that Theo has a lovely singing voice and fancied having a spin in the studio. Roll on a month later, and they were home in Edinburgh, and we threw ourselves into a couple of days of experimenting, this little electro floater we were all super pleased with came out of the session. Tonight is a super late night CR78 drum machine mashed work out with a Theo's floaty falsetto smashing out the park, we flipped the OG with a brilliant dubbed out mix that's not to be slept on either.

We are very proud to present you the third release on Schatzimusik with the reissue of the much sought after I.B.M. – Computer Love 12″ inch and an unreleased track and a remix. For this release we have teamed up with none other than Dario di Pace & Raffelle Arcella from Naples, better known as Mystic Jungle and Whodamanny. The two have done numerous remixes for very well-known Italo-Disco songs. For this remix, they have delivered a brilliant reinterpretation of Computer Love. Rhythmic, driving, funky and playful, they put Computer Love in a new light. The release is rounded off with the previously unknown track “Metropolis” and the long version of “Computer Love”. A little background info on the original vinyl. Thomas Waver & Rudi Raders the two originators of the group I.B.M. emigrated to Alicante (Spain) in the 80s. They stored the records of Computer Love in the attic of Thomas’ aunt. Unfortunately, she died, and the attic was dissolved along with the records. So, the original vinyl is unfortunately a rarely seen item.

Belgian duo Chassé keep the acclaimed Black Jukebox series rolling with a 4-track EP that pays homage to classic US house sounds in accomplished style.

‘Fake Real’ kicks off with sunny abandon, all breezy piano chords and synth sax creating an authentic early-’90s NYC house vibe over plump plucked bass and lazily skipping percussion. Deep pads, bright strings and delicate synth arps bring the atmospheric edge.

‘People Dancing’ ups both the chonk and swing factor, getting more jaunty with its live piano chords and lilting rhythm. Hazy, filtered electric piano chords swoon over classic drum hits, the deep and the pumping meeting in perfect harmony.

‘Nightlife’ takes snatches of classic house vocal and peppers them between melancholic chord samples and dramatic snare hits, and a tense breakdown that exacerbates the subtle qualities of this soulful stomper. A few carefully placed organ notes are all that’s needed to draw the most out of the cool bassline funk.

‘True Game’ rounds off this delicious EP, finding itself somewhere between the classic US house vein and the French touch era, where graceful pads cut against jazzy organ chords, pitched-down vocals, garage snare patterns and seductive bass throbs.

Amsterdam and Naples based bassist Daniel Monaco (bass player for Nu Genea, Mystic Jungle & Capinera) joins the Rush Hour Store Jams imprint. A strong disco heavy two tracker featuring vocals from Mame N'Diack Seck Thiam and a wink to Cerrone, including instrumental versions. Released in conjunction with Utopia records London.

This is somehting Kano's and die-hard italo-disco fans will definitely
appreciate. Kano's "Anothern Life" is finally remastered and repressed on limited-edition white vinyl for the first time since 1983 and out on FullTime Production.

This LP consecrated the fascination of italo-disco, which merged disco, funk and synth pop.

This is demonstrated by a song like "I Need Love", where we immediately recognize the classic elements of synth pop (thus merged with the rhythm and the funk voice of the charismatic voice of Glen White. So "Mad In Love" and "Dance School", where you can already recognize all the grooves that will one day be other followers who have taken, to recall the name, a direct lesson from this "school". Kano surely influenced a whole genre of new European dance acts.

"Another Life", a single now immortal for lovers of the genre, certainly
felt the influence of another genre, known as space disco, a short Eurodisco vein. So "Ikeya Seki", which is not a tribute to the East
like the later China Star (typical of the aesthetics of many bands of
this early 80's), but a very suggestive instrumental piece whose name
derives from a comet discovered by two astronomers Japanese in 1965, Seky and Ikeya in fact. This, is the sound that is also found in the 8-bit soundtracks of arcade videogames, in those contained in Commodore floppies, and it is the music that everyone would have liked to sweat every day.

Half Spanish, half Lebanese, Rakim Under was born in Chile, grew up in Memphis and Spain and is now based in London.

Listening to his debut EP for M.A.D. Records, it’s easy to hear his exotic heritage very much reflected in his music.

Karim effortlessly covers many styles, ranging from Latin house to Bollywood infused breaks and electro, all under pinned with his distinct hi-pressure bass lines.

As a DJ, Rakim has a taste for a variety of musical styles, where genre has no limit. Selecting from his painstakingly curated record collection, even the deepest of diggers will walk away having had their ears opened, failing that, he’ll at least make you dance your ass off.

When not playing on his own, he is a resident at his own event, Soursopp where he often plays alongside David Triana at what is quickly becoming one of the best parties in London and beyond.

“Preparing Singularity” is the debut album by Berlin-based EBM act Transhuman Rebirth, currently a one-man side project of renowned German synth-punk artist Ben Bloodygrave.

Already instantly recognizable on the European synth/wave scene and touring circuit with his high octane aggressive minimal synth, Bloodygrave started this new project over the past few years focusing more on classic, first-wave EBM, moulding the nine tracks on “Preparing Singularity” into a sound that’s recognizable to fans of the starting foundations of the genre. While retaining a sound that’s unique and solely its own, elements of minimal wave and synth-punk are fused in these propulsive tracks, with nods to old idols such as Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft, Front 242 and Absolute Body Control.

Transhuman Rebirth is subjectually futuristic to dystopian, interspersed with political statements. The lyrics focus on topics that are current and modern, including science, technology, surveillance and artificial intelligence — all delivered through Bloodygrave’s well-known vocal style with a sound that is much rougher and with compositions and sound designs that are more complex than his main Ben Bloodygrave persona.

Remastered reissue of Francesco Messina's seminal LP from 1983 produced by electronic Italian pioneer Franco Battiato.
Messina and Battiato are considered central figures within the Italian avant-garde. Part of a generation of artists who contributed to a radical rethinking of musical practices and composition, they reveal Minimalism as it's rarely known: delicate melodies, subtle harmonic interplay, incorporating diverse creative traditions and slowly giving way to an ever-expanding open space. This album was recorded at the legendary Polygram Studios in Milan and using the most powerful electronic music synthesizers for that times like the CMI Fairlight and the EMU Emulator.

The Reflex returns with another helping of that sweet, multi-track remix recipe. This time tackling the delights of a certifiable national hero. The A side hitting with a track once described François K as ‘one of the funkiest records ever made’ and the B a pure feel-good classic that never fails to slap a smile on a crowd. Both reworked with that special Reflex touch, to make modern dancefloor gems for a new generation.

Legendary Parisian disco pioneer and producer, Black Devil Disco Club is back and has announced the release of a new album via UK independent imprint Lo Recordings on the 1st December.

‘Etincelles’, which translates as ‘sparks’ in English, is the follow up to 2020’s ‘Lucifer Is A Flower’ and will be digitally available and released on limited edition coloured vinyl wrapped in screen printed sleeves with lazer cut triangles designed by the award winning Non Format team. With a story as deep and strange as the music itself, Black Devil is the alter ego of Bernard Fevre, a French composer of electronic library music with a highly sought after back catalogue that includes the magnificent ‘Strange World Of Bernard Fevre’.

Having grown up and worked in Paris, it was the African clubs and rhythms in the city that inspired him to make his celebrated debut album ‘Black Devil Disco Club’ with only a small arsenal of electronic keyboards, a vocoder and looped conga drums. One of the most enigmatic electronic masterpieces ever made, the record was so ahead of it’s time that no one could believe it was made in 1977 on it’s release in ‘78. When it was re- issued in 2004 on the Rephlex label many thought it was a hoax and that the music was made by Aphex Twin or Luke Vibert but when Lo Recordings put out the ‘28 After’ album in 2006, the truth was finally revealed.

‘Fog’ is one of most obscure and dark italo instrumental works done in 1984 late at night in Riccardo Cioni’s garage/studio by his trusty Stephen Head experimenting on PPG Wave 2.2, Linn 9000 and Phophet 5.

Mondo Groove release this 12″ 45rpm involving 4 key figures of analog electro: Morgan Geist (Metro Area), Tiger & Woods, N.O.I.A. and Daniele Baldelli.

Patapenka is a new disco-leaning alias from Minsk-based Uladzimir Patapenka, who has previously worked as LIPSKI. With 15 years music making experience under his belt including work as an Ableton Live instructor, he sure does know his way around a tune. He worked on these pieces over several months with vocalists, trumpeters and a cellist and as such they are layered tracks that work both in the club or at home.

'Children' is a warm and sunny one that transports you to a balmy Mediterranean coast line. 'First Dance With You' brings more jazzy vibes with Afro vocals and beautifully lush grooves while Latin feels dominate the slower sounds of 'La Playa'. 'What About This' is a blissed out and stirring instrumental with swooning strings and 'Canvas, Oil' shuts down with Rhodes laced funk. A sublime EP.

Peter LC, a producer known from Small Great Things’ “Small Great Tunes Vol. 1” Compilation (SGT002) which came out last summer, blesses us again, this time with a full EP titled “Walking On Clouds” (SGT003) coming out soon. The title nails the mood perfectly. We’re thrilled to present four tasteful house music compositions.
Starting with “Dance With Me Baby”, the producer opens the EP with a bang. The track features Wurlitzer riffs and soulful, ear-wormy vocals on top of busy percussions - a combination which undeniably delivers a powerful groove.

The energy on the A side seems to go a level further with the second track. Marc Brauner and Luca Olivotto, two artists closely related to the label’s creative output, have remixed the opening track and took it in a slightly different direction. Piano riffs and the specific choice of synthesizers gave this version of “Dance With Me Baby” a kiss of the 90s sound aesthetic.

The B-Side starts with the title track “Walking On Clouds”. The track features a beautiful dialogue of sampled voices describing ideas about music and it’s creation process, underlined by relaxed and blissful pads with a groovy bassline and a soft breakbeat. With “Baby Don’t Go Away”, Peter LC takes the energy higher once more and closes the EP with a proper “booty-shaker”, serving groovy basslines, vocal samples, piano chords and a whole lot of snares and claps!

The producer fell in love with 70's disco and started producing soon after his DJ career begun. His style is usually marked by research focusing on house music and includes influences which are deeply rooted in disco, jazz and funk inspired by 70's italian records and the most avant-garde sounds. Pietro La Calamita comes from Matera, south of Italy, where he had the chance to propose his music to thousands of people during numerous performances.

vinyl for the first time
Remastered for vinyl and including colour insert with liner notes by Moataz Rageb
(Disco Arabesquo). Most tracks have never been released on any other format
and are making their vinyl debut with this set. A journey through the funky sound
of 80s Egypt, Sharayet El Disco (which can be translated by "Disco Cassettes")
features Simone, Ammar El Sherei and more obscure names from Cairo's
cassette culture.
The audio has been remastered for vinyl by David Hachour/Colorsound Studio in
Paris and the LP features artwork by young Egyptian graphic designer Heba Tarek
and a 2-page insert featuring artwork of the original cassettes plus insightful liner
notes by Moataz Rageb.
The set is a unique insight into the diversity of the Egyptian Disco sound, from the
pulsating Disco of "Hezeny" by Hany Shenouda's Al Massrieen band to the boogie
of Simone's "Merci," via Firkit El Asdekaa's tongue-in-cheek "Eklib el Sheriet" ("turn
the cassette to the other side"), produced by legendary Egyptian musician Ammar
El Sherei.

This fourth album marks a turning point, that of independence and letting go.
For the past three years Yuksek has experimented, collaborated with many artists for no other purpose than shared pleasure, and this album has stood out more than it has been thought out. It’s probably his most natural album, the one that sprang up by itself.
At the release of his 3rd album Nous Horizon Yuksek had announced that it would surely be the last, tired of the music system, of touring, then the desire came back with a return to the sources, djing and music for dancing, the one we share, the one that we live with our whole body.

The Latin, Brazilian influence is very clear in his dj-sets, and his collaborations with Fatnotronic (Philippi & Rodrigo) as well as with Processman and his tribute to Hélio Matheus (Mais Kriola)
confirm on this album this taste for the Brazilian sound and the richness of its disco and pop scene of the 70’s and 80’s (Marcos Valle, Gilberto Gil, Di Melo ...).
For some Nosso Ritmo will also sound more Anglo Saxon than the previous ones, perhaps by his uninhibited and more instinctive approach, by his direct filiation with artists such as Sylvester (on Into the light sung by Isaac Delusion) or his tributes to some 90’s dirty house sound with G.F.Y.
(sung by Queen Rose), This Feeling and Gourgeous composed with Confidence man.

We also find in this album Yuksek's taste for experimentation and destructured and ecstatic electronic pieces, especially on his collaborations with Zombie Zombie and Polo & Pan, on J'aime les Synthes as well as on Burning, produced with his companion longtime studio Jean-Sylvain from Juveniles.
Then there is love and gentleness as in his collaboration with Breakbot & Irfane as well as in Universal love, a sort of low-tempo psychedelic mantra, and a direct affiliation with the first French-touch sound on The Rollercoaster.

Yuksek has been making film music for several years and producing many artists, which has allowed him to refocus his personal project on his essence, his first love, the groove.
His fourth album is the perfect demonstration of this, a generous, modern and referenced dance music album, subtle, timeless and unifying, Nosso Ritmo, the rhythm that connects us.

Legendary producer Dave Lee returns as AC Soul Symphony with the “Metamorphosis” LP - his most ambitious production project in his 35-year career.

With an inimitable CV and discography that includes over a thousand production credits to his name, hundreds of singles under renowned pseudonyms including Joey Negro, and three UK top 40 hits as Jakatta, Dave Lee is one of the UK’s most revered producers of disco and house music, defining each genre with a signature sound. Always looking to push the boundaries of what it means to make music, his latest project sees Dave return to one of his lesser-known pseudonyms – AC Soul Symphony – to deliver an epic disco record that takes the sound back to its roots in every way possible.

“A few years ago, I produced a remake of David Shire’s orchestral disco masterpiece Manhattan Skyline under the alias of AC Soul Symphony. I really enjoyed reworking that classic track in a way that retained my favourite parts of the original but also writing new musical sections that gave it more my own flavour.”

Comprising 15 beautifully arranged disco tracks that effortlessly span almost two hours, “Metamorphosis” is an album by definition, but at its core, much more than that – it is a labour of love, meticulously composed, arranged and crafted through a very tangible and human creative process which is unmatched by many modern producers.

“I do it because I love the process of creating something. My aim is to come up with an end result I genuinely think I’d want to buy, play and listen to if it wasn’t me.”

Inspired by happy memories from the golden era of TV and the soundtracks of his favourite childhood shows, “Metamorphosis” was borne of a desire to put the strings center stage and recreate the same analogue sounds that brought instrumental albums by Love Unlimited, MFSB and Salsoul Orchestra to life.

“I thought making a whole album of this mainly instrumental, string heavy, tv theme like music would be a really enjoyable project and one that would play to my strengths as a producer. It was also slightly new territory musically and a bit of challenge.”

Taking disco back to a physical place, “Metamorphosis” was an organic writing process that saw Dave lay down his ideas digitally, before reshaping the MIDI strings into a proper arrangement and recording them live with a 20-piece orchestra at RAK Studios. By his own admission, it is an album of pure indulgence, but by relying on digital production methods, it can be easy to lose sight of the soul that makes music such a unifying entity. Backing up the immaculate strings with catchy vocals and enough groove to level a discotheque, it’s this soulful energy that Dave has captured and expertly delivered with “Metamorphosis”.

Disco Segreta makes another dream for italo-disco hardcore true!

The first ever 12” officially licensed repress of this Yamaha DX-7 and Polysynth arpeggiated 1985 italo-disco masterpiece, previously released only as a b-side of a 45 on the tiny italian Discokkio label.

The 12” edition – made in collaboration with Metastasio himself – will feature the original version plus an alternate instrumental and vocal versions of “With You”, recovered from the original demo tape.

Three timeless tracks from the esteemed D.C. LaRue back catalogue get brand new remixes from three equally exciting producers to give a modern spin to these ‘70s classics.

LaRue joined the music industry by recording two top 40 pop records influenced by the teen-idol era. In his early adulthood, he began writing songs about the fast-growing club and bar subculture he frequented where the most outcast of society’s young and marginalized could safely congregate after being ostracized in work, church, school, and often family. In this relatively brief selection of LaRue classics, contemporary remixes paradoxically bring out the timelessness of his songs, in tone, message and musicality.

First up, ‘Do You Want the Real Thing’ gets a fresh update from re-edit royalty Opolopo in the style of the lush yet sharp Motown and Philadelphia production pieces that inspired the arrangement originally, still resonates as a nightly inner dialogue or negotiation, another of LaRue’s literary signatures.

‘Let Them Dance’ greeted in its time as a one of the breakthrough moments of new music technology, is reinterpreted by Dr Packer mainly with its live acoustic tracks, also retaining bright, rhythmic synthesizer hooks with results that are still true to his intentionally oblique lyric, a novelistic portrayal of the drug dealers, the LGBTQ+ underground community, and the powerful upper class elite that made up the multi-racial, socially integrated crowds on the dance floors at the height of disco.

Last up, ‘Indiscreet’ from LaRue’s 1976 concept album, ‘The Tea Dance,’ tells much of the story about how disco had already birthed its own far more popular and influential successor form, Hip-Hop, by the time it was declared dead by the superannuated establishments of the radio, media, and record businesses. Released in a highly limited, personally inscribed 12-inch 45 rpm edition for a select list of top disco DJs, its complex, elastic polyrhythm made it as irresistible to younger black DJs and breakdancing teens as any of the year’s other big street breakouts. Only Good Vibes Music head honchos and Scotland’s finest The Knutsens give it the magic touch for the modern dancefloor.

Fronted by former South London lovers rock vocal harmony group, Alpha (sisters Jackie & Jean Heron and Marlene Richardson), Take Three was the brain-child of writer/producer trio "S.H.E." - Steve Sinclair, Peter Hinds & Kevin Ellis.

Meeting each other at The Factory community centre in Paddington (now known as the Yaa Asantewa centre and in the last few years, The Yaa Centre) Steve & Kevin began a partnership writing and directing their own theatre productions as part of The Black Theatre Co-Op, which called the centre home at the time. When a song they had written together for one of their productions received praise and plaudits, the path toward writing and producing records began, bringing in more seasoned hand Peter Hinds - formerly a member of key brit funk groups Light of the World and Beggar & Co, and player with Incognito, Imagination & Loose Ends - to complete the circle.

Following on from Freestyle's reissue of the group's first single around this time last year, in the form of 1983's Tonight's the Night, we decided to drop another killer 12" from the Take Three vaults - this time it's their last single released as Take Three in 1985. Can't Get Enough (of Your Love) was originally licensed out to, and released by Andy Sojka's seminal Elite label. It features two super extended mixes - the A side's "Soul mix" showcases the girls's harmonies pinned down by a big & heavy synth bass groove before moving into boogie-dub territory, while the B side "Reggae mix" introduces an ofbeat skank heightening the vocal stylings' lovers-esque tendancies.

James Ingram's evergreen jam was an anthem at 80's soul weekenders in the UK, as well as being a crossover record that found favour with B-boys and ravers alike with it's easy electro funk groove. A true classic in every sense of the world, 'DJ's Delight' is one of those tracks that just doesn't stop - watch that bassline! In the spirit of celebration, Unidisc has invited remix heavyweights Knight & Gray to bring their vision of the track into the year 2021 with their modern peaktime version appearing here in both extended and single versions alongside the OG mix. Returning for Volume 4 of the sought-after series, Glitterbox Jams is back with another red-hot delivery of dancefloor gems, ready to become a record box essential for all discerning disco DJs. The A-Side features two remixes of an early noughties dancefloor gem, as two esteemed disco editors Moplen and Dr Packer both take on ‘Love Will Be Our Guide’ from Mark Picchiotti presents Jersey Street. On the flip come two productions from Italian-Belgian producer Vito de Luca, donning his Aeroplane alias for a disco-infused remix of Marco Faraone & Greeko’s hip-house pumper ‘Armaghetton’, before swapping over to his Flush pseudonym to deliver the playful Balearic joy of ‘Come Back Baby’.

Setting out to create a future Balearic anthem while doffing a cap to street soul and synth-heavy Italo-disco B-sides of the early 1980s, Orbs of Light’s debut single, ‘Billion Days’ lands on Leng after a tip-off from Mind Fair duo Dean Meredith and Ben Shenton, who booked the duo to play live at their Rotation festival last summer.

Orbs of Light’s Baz Bradley and A Girl Called Kate have been friends for decades and have collaborated musically in the past, though it was only a couple of years ago that they dreamed up this project. It was first trialled via a 2021 remix for Andres y Xavi on Hollis Recordings (‘Perfect Timing’) on which Kate added new vocals to Bradley’s interpretation of the track. Since then, regular recording sessions have taken place, with the duo first crafting tight instrumental tracks before – in Bradley’s words – “dream up the best songs we can” with “melodies that will hopefully stay in your head all day”.

It would be fair to say that they’ve achieved that goal on ‘Billion Days’, a hooky and addictive affair whose vocal hooks and strong chorus could well inspire Balearic sing-alongs in the months ahead. Their original mix (B1 on the vinyl version of the EP, track 2 on the digital EP) is joyous, cheery and kaleidoscopic, with steel pan style melodies, bouncy synth stabs, jaunty lead lines and Kate’s wonderful lead vocal riding a shuffling, post street soul beat and a bubbly bassline.

The accompanying remix package is naturally very strong too. San Francisco crew 40 Thieves, fresh from dropping a killer single of their own on Leng (‘The Gift’, with disco legends Gary Davis and Cinnamon Jones), step up first with a take that stretches out and builds on Orbs of Light’s original mix – think wobbly nu-disco synth bass, fresh flute sounds, dubbed-out vocal snippets and a locked-in groove that’s just perfect for sun-soaked alfresco dancing.

Fittingly, the second and final revision comes from Mind Fair, whose email to Leng HQ about Orbs of Light got the ball rolling. Opting for a rubbery, body-popping beat inspired by vintage electro, they deliver a joyful, effects-laden Balearic dancefloor ‘Dub Mix’ that somehow makes a genuinely life-affirming record even more loved-up and saucer-eyed – despite the presence of only a fraction of Kate’s addictive lead vocal.

For its first release on newly launched, fully licensed label DISCOLIDAYS, The Reflex tackles two underground disco cuts remixed from the original multitrack for the very first time.

‘The Voice of Q’ is a leftfield electro disco gem originally released in 1982 on Philly World records. Produced by the studio team behind the label, the track has become a cult classic but had never been remixed from the stems until now. The Reflex brings it up to date with the added discovery of a pre-vocoder vocal and a full rap vocal that were left unused in the tapes, highlighting the funk bass to the max while pushing the cosmic vibes envelope even further.

‘Everybody Loves A Good Funk’ is a rather obscure ghetto disco-funk produced by none other than John Davis (of the John Davis Orchestra fame) that was recorded at Sigma Sound studios in Philly in 1980 for the Midsong International label. Heavy synth bass, super punchy horns and a devastating groove make up for one hell of a dancefloor killer revision. Again remixed strictly from the tapes for the first time, The Reflex gives this Ruth “Silky” Waters track the shine it always deserved.

With both tracks running at 118 bpm, this release will speak to a wide range of DJ’s and music lovers, from the disco-house contingent to early electro disco fans alike and beyond.

This is the first vinyl release on DISCOLIDAYS (with digital to follow), a new label by remixer extraordinaire The Reflex, fully licensed from the copyrights holders, with more exciting releases to come.

This latest instalment of ARTHUR BAKER Presents DANCE MASTERS finds the production/ song-writing/ remixing maestro taking the spotlight for a long overdue snapshot of his own classic 12” mixes during a crucial evolution of dance music, club
and pop culture.

“I’ve always felt like I was on a mission to make music from the time I heard Motown, Philly and Sly and the Family Stone. My mission started as a hobby and still feels like one now. You’ve got to keep on pushing and hustling. It can be a drag sometimes but
if you really love what you’re doing, it’s worth the work. I still really love what I do.”

Arthur Baker helped codify the remixer as artist. His genre-fluid approach to projects
has resulted in a joyous myriad of classics that spans many decades. This ’80’s focused DANCE MASTERS collection offers a welcome glimpse at Baker’s illustrious career and many long out-of-print 12” versions and previously unavailable mixes.

This 35-track, six LP expanded edition includes a wide array of selections from the likes of Robbie Nevil’s “C’est La Vie,” Fleetwood Mac’s “Big Love,” Neneh Cherry’s “Buffalo Stance”, Jeffrey Osborne “Soweto”, Freeez “I.O.U”, Rockers Revenge “Walking On Sunshine” and of course the juggernaut “Planet Rock” with Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force.

In 2001 legendary Japanese outfit Kyoto Jazz Massive put out the ‘ Spirit Of The Sun ‘ album for Munich based Compost Records. 22 years later Echoes Of A New Dawn Orchestra who have been the live international band members for Kyoto Jazz Massive over the last 2 years got to do their own rendition of this classic.
In this particular version, 3 members of Echoes Of A New Dawn Orchestra also happen to be part of Jéroboam who record for buzzing Dutch label Space Grapes and in this Mukatsuku release feature from Agyei Osei (vocals),Carel Cleril (bass), Kevin Le Bellec (guitar)from Jéroboam .
It’s a funky slap bass jazz flex affair with seductive horns that make for an irresistible dancer. On the flipside an unreleased exclusive instrumental version.
