This EP represents in full effect the evolution of the solid duo from Utrecht. Four tracks where they show their roots and their influences, that definitely are techno. They don't like to be too exposed; they like to share their concept through their music.

Fresh off of his re-activation of the seminal "Planetary Funk" series, Luke Slater delivers another new 12" with all of the purposeful intensity and sonic clarity to be expected from his celebrated Planetary Assault Systems alias. Pairing both an original mix and a spirited re-working by Josh Wink, "Kat" is a winning synthesis of all the elements that make P.A.S. such a continually relevant player in the game of moving bodies and opening minds: it once again pushes beat-driven sound to disciplined extremes, but not without clearly detectable traces of humor and playfulness.

As vocal repetition of the track's simplistic and suggestive title is run through a maze of filters, pitch-shifts and delays, an equally busy set of tubular bass figures mirrors this approach and meshes with the insistent rhythm. Carefully inserted hard stops, crafty fading of sound from background to foreground, and unexpected breakdowns give the track a kind of restless feel that ensures its success as a peak hour selection, or as a reliable companion on inner-city underground transit journeys.

While the original mix on the b-side begins in a more subdued fashion, it isn't lacking at all in concentrated energy. As is the case with so many other P.A.S. classics, this mix relies on geometrical sound sequences that slowly approach from a distance before they completely overtake the listener. Elements like static crackling are wielded here like active parts of the conversation rather than as atmospheric wallpaper, and the beat itself hits with a mixture of force and subtlety, with anxious drum hits doubling up on one another and regularly giving rise to new patterns.

"Kat" is the kind of record that gives Planetary Assault Systems fans both what they want, and what they didn't expect: it steers away from easy techno conventions but never abandons that genre's physicality and infectiousness.

The fourth release on André Hommen's These Eyes imprint is coming from Tlak, the alter ego of Croatian-born and Danish-based Denis Horvat.

Horvat made a lot noise over the last few months with releases on labels such as Innervisions, Afterlife, Exit Strategy, Sum Over Histories and more. His studio set up is stacked with analogue gear, resulting in what he describes as the synthesizer techno' he makes. But - you will hear a difference between 'Denis Horvat' and 'Tlak' productions - as that's why he created his second alias.

EP's Title track 'Dispossessed' was first featured in Tim Sweeney's legendary Beats In Space show, where André Hommen did a guest-mix in August 2016. Since then, 'Dispossessed' received a massive "Track ID"-explosion on social media and even though it's a pretty dark production, it takes you on a special journey throughout the track with several electronic elements, where some might appear surprisingly. B-side Cristal is lightening it up again, which makes it to a matching EP.

Expertly made dub techno for the dance floor.

Scott Monteith's last album, Wax Poetic For This Our Great Resolve, was both a lament and a message of hope for a world in turmoil. On that record, the Canadian artist embedded speech in an often instrumental form. On his latest LP, he's less poetic, reflecting not on the world around him but on a festival he played last year: Waking Life in Portugal. In the process, he's made some of his most straightforward dub techno in recent memory.

Waking Life has the same rich sound design that's characterized so much of Monteith's music. Lush synths glimmer in the dark expanse of the aptly titled "A New Sense Of Purpose." The gently percolating lead on "Waking Dub" evokes sunlight reflecting off a river. The 14-minute closer, "A Last Swim," is immaculate dub techno.

Waking Life feels made for the dance floor and flows like a night out, peaking with "A Last Swim." The LP's midsection is heady and nocturnal, with a tech house-inflected groove on "Midnight In The Garden" and a bleepy lead on "A Thousand Shining Stars" that wriggles and shimmies endlessly. Most of Waking Life has this feeling of perpetual motion, as if the whole record poured out of Monteith in a single studio session.

Waking Life may be Monteith's most satisfying work since his career masterpiece, Drawn & Quartered. Like that album, it strips down the Deadbeat sound to its core elements—house, techno and dub—the results of which are undeniable. But where Drawn & Quartered was almost intimidating in its heft, Waking Life seems intent to serve the kind of uplifting and communal experience that spawned it.

The next release is brought to you by rising star Nolga. Nolga recently burst onto the scene with a sublime collaboration with UK's Michael James on the mighty Hoarder label. His sick minimal style has worked its way into the sets of many Romanian minimal artists such as Arapu and SIT. Fresh of the back of releases on RubIsco and Aesthetic, Nolga is shaping up to be the hottest new property in the underground scene. On remix duties we are delighted to welcome Silat Beksi who’s been a huge favourite of ours over the last few years. Finally Niko Maxen brings his signature rolling groove to round off the ep.

Dystant Recordings presents its first Release of the Year in Catalog 001.

Your mind will immerse yourself in a completely techno scene. The support pillars of the same Label and the new EP are the Italian Duo "The Extraverse" composed of Antonio & Rosario, which today form a distinct format.After their record-breaking vintage, they devote everything to their Dystant, giving birth to a solid Original with dark and very mental features.
It drops into a dark storm, straight crate and depth that anticipates an analog synthesized acid synth.

To embellish everything is the Remix made by the already-stated Hans Bouffmyhre.The Scottish Glasgow resumes the work of the Italian Duo and then rejoices very personal sounds at the Original. Imagine being tied to a chair while something terrifying is approaching./'a0Cold emotion Hans in this Remix.

The EP ends with the Synth Extract from Original that the Duo has then rewritten as an environment that reflects all of the Release that is already gaining national reputation.

David Löhlein debuts on the new Vision Ekstase label with four hypnotic techno tracks entitled

„VISION I – NYSA“.

The club-oriented and rhythm-heavy EP opener „Altai“ features a hypnotic vocal sample fused with stabbing modulations maintaining a constant drive best suited for peak-time purposes before ‘Morava’ continues with vibrant synth walls and stabs, euphoric pads in the distance and resonating frequencies.

On the flip, „Red Code“ starts with clap-heavy and groove-infused percussion above the growling oscillations throughout until „Six Nine“ rounds things off with innovative synth compositions, stirring resonations and clattering drums providing a driving rhythm within.

From now on the label sticker includes the BE9-logo, it's a collective of Mannheim based labels and artists.

Lithuania's Greyscale returns this December with Ohrwert's 'Fidelis / Blavus', backed with remixes from XDB and grad_u.

Greyscale was launched in 2012 by Lithuanian producer and DJ grad_u, and photographer Rima Prusakova, set up as a platform for material from grad_u and close friends whilst Prusakova's
black and white analogue photography provides the visual identity of the label.

The original mix of 'Blavus' opens the EP, perfectly setting the tone with murky, ethereal atmospherics, billowing dub echoes, modulating percussion and thunderous drums before DubTechno stalwart XDB strips things back a little with soft touches of the originals airy drones tucked away in the depths whilst choppy stabs and dynamically unfolding analogue rhythms wander throughout.

The second original from Ohrwert opens the flip-side, upping the energy levels slightly with hooky stab-sequences, filtered delays and hypnotic melodies running alongside a sturdy percussive foundation. Lastly to round out the release grad_u reworks 'Blavus' into a more groove-driven workout, employing shuffled hats, looped dub chords and bumpy sub-bass hits throughout.

For its sophomore release, vinyl only record label, Modeight prepares a special VA: "Modification 01" that firmly establishes the label's unique fingerprint in putting out some of the finest minimal cuts in the Eastern European underground circuit. University Of Nowhere present "Ja Z," a record that features a smooth ominous chord brooding in the background while a thick bassline carves out the rest of this atmospheric take. Bucharest's Olivian Nour presents a fierce minimal breaks groove in "Elaborat" that uses pulsating percussive textures placed on top of a powerful minimalist bassline. Over on the B-Side, Germany's Durrred returns to Modeight with a punchy bass groove that ascends into a clear flow of micro percussive pieces and a calm, swelling pad quietly reveals itself from behind the rhythm. Svet holds its minimal techno roots close in "The Astral Traveler." A dense, hypnotizing, low end is the focal point as the bass growls from measure to measure eager to break out from behind the filter. This collection is ready to go right out of the sleeve for the best afterhours around the world.

London based party brand Miriam launches their new label Miriam Records with debut release 'Ants'. A three track EP featuring two musically rich and club-ready originals from co-founder Benson Herbert, backed with a remix from Hungary's up and coming and ever impressive Capeesh Society.

The timeline Ep is a nod to the journey of label head Jamie Trench. It features a blend of tracks previously only released on limited VA eps and digital only releases. All four cuts epitomise Jamie’s style of heavy bass and drums with lots of sample cuts. The eps these tracks feature on have been heavily in demand so it’s great to see them resurface.

First release of the Vinyl Only Label from the Mannheim-based BE9 Family comes from Jan Golly with a massive Remix from Fabe which brings a magic vibe on every dancefloor.

Nu Zau pushes the pedal into overdrive with his first full length vinyl album - La Rascruce' is the mark of a crossroads for the artist as he comes into his own with a masterful and dutifully produced piece that goes all the way from the solemn and somber Incloido' to the happy, go lucky threads of Take Me Back' and the warm imbrace of Lolita'. Vivus Records presents its first vinyl release, featuring the work of talented Producer/Dj from London - Josh Wicks. He presents us with an exceptional new record consisting of 3 original tracks and one remix by LDN label owner and fine artist, Scott Kemp. Without further a due this is Grumble EP, a nice uplifting 4 tracker which can be found on a vinyl only format.

Berlin-based house and techno wizard Emanuel Satie brings together a plethora of talent for Addis Ababa on Crosstown Rebels. Ninetoes, Mowgan and Matador all join the party to complete this epic EP.

Satie says of the release that it's 'an homage to worldwide collaboration. While travelling through Ethiopia I recorded traditional musicians, brought the sounds home to Berlin and made electronic tracks out of them with my friends Ninetoes and Mowgan'.

EP opener Injera, produced with Ninetoes, is a mysterious and bumpy roller. Argew Neka, made in collaboration with Mowgan, adds tribal song and brings a delicate yet hypnotic groove to the table. Matador's remix of the latter turns the track completely on its head layering futuristic elements over a harder beat.

Emanuel Satie's career has blown up since he came to our attention in 2016 with his rework of Late Nite Tuff Guy's remix of I Get Deep, which hit the top spot in the Beatport charts. He's won the coveted Best Producer award in the DJ Awards and had a string of releases signed to impressive imprints including; Saved Records, Moon Harbour and Knee Deep In Sound. This year saw his track Don't Forget To Go Home given the accolade of Essential New Tune from Radio 1 tastemaker Pete Tong at Miami Music Week.

The latest edition of our Breaking New Soil series proves that time flies when you´re having fun: This is number 10! Once again presented by label head Gregor Tresher, and this time with two exciting contributions by the man himself, we are proud to announce a very versatile lineup: We have Hybrasil, who Gregor met at a gig in Dublin, presenting a beast of a peaktime track with - Flexo . Returning to the label is Ferdinando Apicella from Naples, better known as Kernel Key, who delivers another non-conforming techno jam that will go big with all the real Techno heads. Next up we have label favorite Fac3off - returning with not one but two amazing tracks presenting his signature sound - we´re sure we´ll be hearing a lot more from this talent in the future! The Yellowheads, hailing from Spain, had a storming EP release on BNS last year and return in very strong shape with - Caelum . Last but not least there is Antipolar from Cologne, with whom Gregor recently shared the decks at Cologne underground club - Gewoelbe - he´s new to the label and is debuting with a very unique sounding production called - Mandal . Monty has made a real name for himself in the drum and bass scene, and has truly put Toulouse on the dance music map. This is his 5th solo EP on the label, and include collaborations with fellow Toulouse based Visages, who are also part of the 1985 Music family, as well as label head and long time co-conspirator Alix Perez. Monty’s signature is strong in this EP, and really showcases how truly mature and diverse Monty is, and shows why he stands out in drum & bass today.

Side A1 by Sancess kicks off with an self-effacing minimal temperament, excelling with a very crisp and raw beat pattern.

Side A2 by Nae:Tek is a very bass driven and unrelentingly obscure deep techno premise, becoming the gut-punching dancefloor track of the whole EP.

Side B1 reveals a new whole version of David Hausdorf - Deep & Slow interpreted by Dmitry Stelmakhov with elegance and progressivism.

Side B2 by Gjidoda features a patient and slow burning foundation of dub sounds, an unflawed cut for a dramatic takeoff of a well-crafted musical journey.

When three people run a label together it is exceptionally rare to find a positive unified opinion of a record on first listen. When Isolée sent his "Mangroove" EP to Maeve, this was in fact what happened. But it is Isolée after all....
Mangroove came about last summer when The Drifter happened to catch Isolée's live set at a festival in Switzerland. Instantly blown away by the A side "Pisco" he was determined to find out what it was and if it was to be released. After chatting, Isolée suggested that he would send "Pisco" along with a couple of other "demos" to Maeve and a few days later the EP was happening.
Isolée has created some of the most important and beautiful records of our generation and has being a huge influence on what we do, thus we are incredibly excited and humbled to release his work.
This three track EP shows several different sides of the Frankfurt native, from the A-side dance floor catalyst that is "Pisco" to the deeper dubbier B-sides of "L5 Syndrome" and "Mangrove". This is the perfect record to mark our tenth release.

So there we are. Teenage years are over, the wild times are still ahead, though. Keinemusik turns twenty - all hands in the air! In celebration of this biographical moment of glory the whole crew is circling up in brotherly and sisterly embrace. Make an high-angle shot, what does it look like Like a ring of course. So therefore you'll find the signet ring on this picture disc's A-side. The flip is tagged with what this symbol of companionship is leaving, once it's used properly. So there's a signed and sealed big up to everyone who has supported keinemusik so far. No. 20 prettied itself up a bit and commends itself as a nice little collector's item. Still as a decent spinning item as well, containing those pumping features:

On A1 (aka the ring side) David Mayer opens up with 'Machinedrum Calypso', a relentless Tech-monster with classy percussive decoration, lurking single notes, malicious synths and a roller coaster ride of breaks and full tilt. Perfect opener!
Next in line is 'Think', falling out of &ME's hardly failing machines. Initially, the kick tends to hide behind some cryptically cut vocal- scraps, but once it's grooving at full level, there'll be no dry corner left on the floor. Add some sub-bassy guts massage and some highly effective break-stuffing and you have a picture of this guy's current sure shot.

The seal side contains another surprising new Adam Port-cut. 'Burana' starts out as a funked out, crackling Disco-beat-skeleton, incorporates a tongue in cheek bassline and some offset hi-hats and once in a while is raising up to cloud nine of synth-paradise. Devoid of any vocal trace there is a potential secret favourite grooving from second row.
Rampa is aiming for an unlike feisty spot landing for the grand finale. His 'AY' offers microscopic fiddling on his percussive tribal rataplan and some decent feverish shaman dance. As a counterpart, he inserts an u¨bercool bass into the background and if needed, an u¨bercool bass into the foreground as well. One glimpse should show that peaktime' is written all over this bitch.

'Prepare yourself for the first ever vinyl pressing of legendary free jazz guitarist Sonny Sharrock's seminal final album Ask The Ages, in a strictly limited edition 45rpm double 12' edition.

Sonny's classic final album swings between deep, lyrical melodicism and passages of pure fire music and features jazz legends Pharoah Sanders on tenor saxophone and Elvin Jones, member of the John Coltrane Quartet, on drums. The album was produced by Bill Laswell and originally released in 1991 on his Axiom label. The crystal clear production sounds amazing on 45.

This release is a must for fans of John Coltrane, Albert Ayler, Ornette Coleman and Sun Ra.'
