Slow Porn - Prise De Vue #1

My Favorite Robot is proud to welcome the return of DJ and production duo Slow Porn with a stunning new compilation album. After releasing a critically acclaimed EP on the Canadian label back in December 2015, Slow Porn now come back with a fantastically curated 18 track compilation that proves the richness of their sound goes way beyond their studio and the dancefloor.
Made up of Meant Records label boss Remain, and fellow Frenchman and La dame Noir label head honcho, Phred Noir, the duo have shared many DJ booths over the
years leading to this collaborative project. This new compilation, which also includes Slow Porn sounds, is an expert experiment that finds them delivering 'a filthy groove and slow-paced mood music for confidential and undisclosed dancefloors.'
Taking in a delicious and diverse selection of artists such as label regular Fairmont, via machine music maverick Richard Norris and numerous other luminaries such as
Rodion, Rework and Vosper, this is a carefully constructed mix where a libidinous and spaced-out mood is king.
Things start exquisitely with the spacious and lush 'Lost In Love' by Amevicious before touching on broken disco with French spoken words, percolating kosmische,
languorous and slow motion deep house and synth-tactic steppers that gently nudge up the BPM. Mixing beautiful drones with heavenly chords, leggy drums with pixelated
pads, Slow Porn plot a journey through space that is wide open and inviting, laid back but vitally engaging.
Their own cut 'Silver and Lust' is rugged yet colourful, with aloof female whisperings and modulated synths really getting under your skin. From there trippy synths continue
to squelch and fat bottomed drums hold a constant groove before things warp up perfectly on the malfunctioning disco sounds of Kieran Holden.
The aural pleasure seekers, that are Slow Porn, truly come correct with this wide ranging and absorbing selection.

Walton - Taiko Ep

Kaizen
13.02.2017

Early support from Loefah, Paleman & Mary Anne Hobbs. Having made it into Mixmag's Top 20 Labels of 2016 chart, Kaizen looks set to start 2017 with an almighty bang. The third release on Madam X's burgeoning imprint comes from Manchester based Walton. After several releases via Kode9's Hyperdub he released his debut album 'Beyond' to critical acclaim and once you add to that a trio of fine EPs on Tectonic, we see an artist with seemingly unlimited potential. Walton is no stranger when it comes to dark frequencies and the superb 'Taiko' EP takes influence from Far Eastern sounds with a wealth of space and subtle percussive grooves. The A-side features two fierce and stark club cuts, with 'Tension' setting the tone for the murkiness inside. You may recognise the track from Madam X's wildly hyped Boiler Room set and it's found it's way into Loefah's bag too. Title track 'Taiko' hinges on a groove that bounces and slams its way through the runtime with Mary Ann Hobbs a fan of 'the dark, tribal textures'. On the flipside the pace is kept up with two more dense, atmospheric tracks, with 'Black Hole' employing a heavy set, feverish use of percussion and 'Zen' acting as a more cinematic cut, almost like a weightless, demonic lullaby. The EP has been on the club circuit for at least a year before seeing release, but the wait is now over and it's time for Madam X to take Kaizen to the next level.

Lokom Aka Non5ilent - Good News From Mars/blurred Vision 10"

At a time when the weekly flow of new albums, EPs and mixtapes come to exceed the number of e-mails that pile up in our inbox, the dazzle in Lokom's new double single is like the long anticipated rainfall season in a tropical country: nothing protrudes yet everything is present.
Totally melodic and surprisingly quiet despite its fabulous rhythmic complexity, Good News From Mars soothes like a perfect conversation in a sea of things left unsaid. At the same time dry, blazing and melancholic, Blurred Vision recalls the Brooklyn duo Team Shadetek in their early 2000 years, when the two were still hesitating between ambient warpish glitch and grime jolts. When combined, both tracks offer a vision inspired by the union in 2014 of electronica and experimental dance : an infinity of possibilities where hope still exists. Included Download card Inside

FIRST WORD RECORDS

First Word enters 2017 with a bang: a 28-track album courtesy of Eric Lau. This, his third instrumental album, is a veritable tapestry of vibes, ranging through Hip Hop, Soul, Jazz, Funk & Brazilian beats. A mere taste into the genius production skills of London's Mr. Lau, it's easy to understand why he's so revered by DJs, artists and producers across the world, including Rich Medina, 9th Wonder, Bobbito, Dam Funk, Gilles Peterson, James Poyser (The Roots), Phonte and Ali Shaheed Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest), amongst others. Eric has had previous outings for First Word as part of the Record Store Day beat-challenge trilogy, along with Tall Black Guy, Kidkanevil and Mr. Thing, and was recently initiated into Jazzy Jeff's star-studded annual Playlist Retreat. As a producer, he's worked with a host of artists, including Kaidi Tatham, Oddisee, Yussef Kamaal, Guilty Simpson, Dego, Tawiah, Rahel and Fatima, to name a few, whilst his DJ skills have seen him tour the globe with luminaries such as Erykah Badu, Robert Glasper and Questlove. Additionally to three instrumental LPs, he previously released his debut-proper for Ubiquity, 'New Territories', and the acclaimed 2013 sophomore album, 'One Of Many'. 'Examples' really provides you with what it says on the tin - a mere taster of this man's talents, available digitally and on wax, black vinyl for the purists and limited edition yellow vinyl for the heads. Kicking off the new year with a bounce, it's unnecessary that we tell you that you shouldn't sleep on this.. Don't sleep on this.

Kamikaze Space Programme - Humanoid Ep

Following his recent outing as one half of Dot Product and a number of well-received EPs on Luke Slater's Mote Evolver label, Chris Jarman returns in his Kamikaze Space Programme guise for a new EP on Osiris Music uk. Opener Clickersintroduces a loop that permeates the entire track — an exercise in meditative repetition,KSP-style — followed by the sci-fi bleeps and sub-bass thuds of Pax. On the other side, Thalamic Transplant heads straight for the floor with more repetition: this time the alarm-like glitches ofw a malfunctioning spaceship. The EP closes with a version of'Clickers' reworked by label boss Mønic, complete with half-time cavernous kicks and cosmos-sized reverbs.

Melly - Flying Ducks

Flying Ducks

12inchWIID07
Where To Now?
06.05.2016

Where To Now Records are proud to present the debut 12' from Dublin based Melly. On 'Flying Ducks' Melly gives us four varied cuts that showcase his unique and unrestricted style of body music beautifully.

On 'Skip Fire' Melly takes sinister raves sounds and fires them across a core of ever intensifying percussion. The drums, with their apparent simplicity and almost swaggering or brutishly insistent presence, become a powerful statement. When placed amid elements more readily associated with techno / hardcore we are invited to enjoy a, perhaps, more rudimentary sounding form of rhythmic embellishment, but one that becomes just as deep, complex and intrinsic to the composition's power. The roaring percussion morphs into a sustained and highly pressured pulse ... The sirens sound, bodies assemble, the firing range begins, melee ensues.

The title track 'Flying Ducks' comes across like a reflection on an attempted aura of organisation and calm amid a scene of chaos. Much like the assumed title association of the duck presumably struggling in flight, v-shaped and temporarily structured, battling against the tumultuousness force of nature... perhaps. The beat threading it's way through the track guides us through a seemingly spontaneous and ever present soundscape that calls to mind the crepuscular canopy of an imagined digital rainforest with all its strange interjections and growing chorus of unique voices. Throughout this track, and the whole record infact, Melly's sound takes on an almost Post-Punk/Minimal wave edge that also completely embraces the level of experimentation and universal musical influence associated with that era.

On hand to assist in remixing 'Skip Fire' into a ferocious dancefloor destroyer is friend and fellow Dubliner Lumigraph (Mister Saturday Night, Opal Tapes, Major Problems), moulding the roaring percussion into a complete blaze of fury, demolishing everything it touches whilst still holding close a deep low end groove. A woozy synth line eases the pressure at times, but after every break the fire returns with further intensity and rage.

Melly rounds things off with 'Windproof'. The strutting pulse returns but this time concerns are certainly centred more on experiments in bass and timbre rather than an all out exploratory descent into controlled chaos. Coming across like a lost On-U-Sound cut, 'Windproof' allows itself the space to explore dubbed out ghostly sonars, radiophonic transmissions, and haunted rewinds.

Pinch & Shackleton - Boracay Drift (morphosis Rmx)

Morphosis' epic remix is more spaced and spooked than the original — the dread in check — but still body-rocking and stepping out of its silences. B-boy rimshots, a rough snare, a thumping kick-drum and spare bass are layered with emotive synths and brilliant effects, as Shackleton's dream liturgy unfolds in its full, twisted glory — an eerie, garbled sublimity, like a kind of black-magic plainsong. Magnificent work by Rabih Beaini.

Tomorrow's Explorers

3Six Recordings
06.02.2017

We're living in a unique time in history. Most of our planet has already been traversed and catalogued by people who have come before us. Earth, at least from a geographical perspective, has few discoveries left for us. The true unknown lies in the worlds beyond our own. It's likely that in the next few decades, humans will finally have the means to take our first tentative steps on the surface of our neighbouring planet, Mars. We will be the first known species that has both the knowledge and the desire to transcend our existence beyond our home planet and expand further into space. There may even be people alive today whose children will be born on a planet that isn't called Earth. For them, the concept of "home" has a very different meaning to our own. They will be Tomorrow's Explorers, redefining what it means to be human, whilst retaining the very thing that makes us so - our unquenchable thirst to explore the unknown.

"Tomorrow's Explorers is the follow-up to my 2015 EP 'Sine Dust'. Usually when I finish a record, I draw a line under it and move onto the next concept, with the explicit desire to do something different. After 'Sine Dust', I felt that there was more of a story to tell. Space is a pretty big place! Whereas 'Sine Dust' was a 100% synthesiser-based record, 'Tomorrow's Explorers' expands the sound gamut considerably, introducing heavy string-based sections, that work alongside the synths and pads to create expansive, enveloping walls of sound. This culminates in the 13 minute title track, which I feel is one of my most audibly rich, melodically complex tracks to date. Drawing influence from every other record I've made, whilst taking the sound to new and unfamiliar places, 'Tomorrow's Explorers' is sure to please fans both old and new. The endless themes of space have been explored countless times by artists in the past. It's a limitless source of inspiration for many of us and always a joy to discover. As usual, I hope you enjoy where it takes you." -36

ONE LITTLE INDIAN
30.03.2015

Björk is a rare artist - a true original, a non-conformist with wide appeal, an extraordinary genre-busting musical individual who speaks to the heart, the head and the feet. She is the quintessential modern musician, ceaselessly innovating, and completely multi-dimensional in the way she uses performance, technology, fashion, video and art to complement her music.

'Vulnicura' was written, produced and recorded in collaboration with Venezuelan producer Arca and British musician The Haxan Cloak. Of the album's nine tracks, six are written by Björk with two co-written with Arca and one co-written with Spaces. Six songs are produced by Björk and Arca, one by Björk, Arca and The Haxan Cloak and two by Björk. All string arrangements are by Björk. The album was mixed by The Haxan Cloak, except two songs mixed by The Haxan Cloak and Chris Elms, and mastered by Mandy Parnell.

Creme
12.01.2017

Creme Organization's Jericho One label continues to set a fine agenda with its fifth EP, this time from DJ Plant Texture aka Dona Basile, who also releases as Dona and Given. This is only his second EP under this alias, and is one that again marries breakbeats, techno and electro into electrifying new forms. Things kick off with 'Maybe Sometimes', three minutes of brutal old school rave. 'Maybe Sometimes (2_3 Psymono Mix)' is then a heavily filtered and stripped back version of the same tune that is brilliantly weird and otherworldly. 'Lello From SDA' then picks up the pace once more with reversed stabs, slamming drums and rubbery bass all cut up with yelping vocals and dusty breaks that take you right back to the early 90s. On the flip, 'Gargantuans' is on a deeper and more trippy old school flex with bright pads and gurgling bass taking you higher, then 'Cyclone (Tribute To The 90's)' is just that with its frenzied drums, filters and euphoric breakdowns all run through with Street Fighter samples. 'D_One' then ends the trip with a bit of ambient electronics, with odd sine waves and sharp sound designs placing you in an unhinged world.

Fatma - The Dirty Beat / Cirklar

Second only to the JFK-murder, the investigation of the assassination of Swedish prime minister Olof Palme in 1986 is the largest unsolved murder investigation in history. And like there's numerous of theories surrounding the assassination of John F. Kennedy so is also the case concerning the assassination of Olof Palme: 'The PKK trace', 'The police trace', The military league' are amongst many other explanation models, the headlines of the most popular conspiracy theories connected with this huge murder investigation.
In Februari 2016, exactly 30 years after the shots on Sveagatan in Stockholm, F.A.T.M.A. laid the finishing touch on the two tracks 'Cirklar' and 'Dirty Beat' which Hoga Nord Rekords now releases on 7inch record. The genre can be labelled 'conspiracy funk', where the underlying message is thoroughly masked with a beat that only true professionals on funk, elektro and dub can mobilize. When the bass drops on 'Dirty Beat' it is clear that the search for best dance track in 2016 is over!
The musicians behind F.A.T.M.A. are no rookies but they keep an anonymous approach: the secrecy surrounding the band fits well with the suggestion of their music and the secret agent/spy aura that encircles their sound. As undercover as SAPO-agents in a 1987 SAAB 9000 creeping up and down the streets of late eighties Stockholm, F.A.T.M.A. works their way forward in drawing the map over the confusing Palme investigation, and also over how nerve bending dance music should sound like.
Yeah baby..

Jesse Osborne-lanthier - Unalloyed, Unlicensed, All Night!

dedicated to promote young and evolving artists and to present musical diamonds in the rough, raster-noton is curating the unun series which name refers to the chemical elements 111-119. »unalloyed, unlicensed, all night!« is jesse osborne-lanthier's first release on raster-noton, and the ninth and final release of this series.jesse osborne-lanthier is a berlin / montreal based, canadian electronic music producer and multidisciplinary artist. his erratic research process incorporates the urgency of dance music and conceptual electronics by disassembling their grammar and acting through it. refusing to follow the etiquette of a particular musical genre, he explores many creative practices in order to generate clashes of mood, expectation and technique.
»unalloyed, unlicensed, all night!« was recorded by osborne-lanthier a mere two hours before a live set in paris. its specific purpose was to generate a response from the audience, to stimulate their bodies through sound. the toolbox for this task was stocked with automatic call-and-response music tropes drawn from EDM, big-room house, trance, and online production tutorials. between the producer's idiosyncratic by-the-numbers process and the rushed nature of the composition, the final product is rendered unpredictable; each signifier transforms into a distorted ghost of itself. this allows for unexpected responses to manifest on the dance floor as well as in the listener's space of existence.

Tape / Cassette

* Kebko Music is Tokyo-based Akiko Kiyama's independent music label focusing on releasing avant-garde music which is not bounded by any specific genres but embraces the whole range of techno, experimental music, field- & live-recordings and classical music. The label owner established her name by Richie Hawtin featuring her track in his well-known DE9 Transitions mix in 2005. Since then, her music style has gradually changed to explore the edge of electronic music. The core of the label is based on small handcrafted editions of cassette tapes. It aims to give a chance for all of artists and listeners to explore their musical experience and creativity.

* Akiko Kiyama was born in Tokyo, Japan. Since her youth, she was surrounded by classic music education and had been playing piano for 20 years. Her music career has started since 2004 since her debut EP "Dimension" on Sud Electronic(London) which got great supports from renowned DJ & Musicians like Mad Mike, Richie Hawtin , Sven Vath, Ricardo Villalobos. And in November 2005, her track " Like Ancient" has been licensed by M-NUS records ,and is appeared on DE9 Transitions by Richie Hawtin. In 2007, She moved to Berlin to follow through with her commitment to dance music and to develop her style further. She also released several singles on reputable labels such as Contexterrior, Lick My Deck, etc and her first album "7years" came out on District of Corruption under Kompakt. Since then she has been playing in Europe, North & South America and Japan widely, including her main acts at Fabric London and Panorama bar Berlin.

* This is Akiko Kiyama's 4th full-length album, stemming from two years of exploration outside her established dance floor inclinations, boiling down her sound to its essential organic grooves, intricate harmonies and eery atmospheres. The nature of her organic grooves lies within inter-sound gaps, carefully crafted to lead the listener through time distortions and into an hypnotic solitary world where music is breathed, not played. A sound imprinted of a definitely human character and vigor, yet sometimes ambiguous, fleeting, and capricious. From her peculiar sense of harmony and rhythm, and a meticulous minimal approach to composition, emerges rich lyrical lines forming a unique musical universe that few has had the chance to hear yet.

H. Tical - Impact - Synthesized Sound And Music

From the very first second, "Impact - Synthesized Sound And Music" is a difficult, icy release, embracing many cornerstones of what would become known as industrial music. These 16 sonic experiments are totally devoted to synthsizers, which are the main architects of whirling escapes, white noise and sonic landscapes in the mood of early Warp releases.

"Impact - Synthesized Sound And Music" was originally released via Armando Sciascia's Vedette label in 1971, under the alias H. Tical: it's a really peculiar library music album, filled with incredibly contemporary sounds and atmospheres. Unlike "Distortions" by Blue Phantom, whose supergroovy and almost hard-prog tracks are all credited to H. Tical, this is a totally different sonic planet - and it's difficult to figure out which kind of images could be paired with such an extreme experiment, which is a one-of-a-kind effort in Sciascia's more traditional career as a composer. Moreover, the musical delirium is enhanced by the usual beauty of the titles - such as "Colluvium", "Metastasis", "Trigonos", "Intercosmic", "Rubidio", or "Laser", mixing Latin and English languages. This is a wonderful, alienating album made of static' music, totally estranged from the idea of movement. A true desert island album - or, better said, an abandoned planet album ...

Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith & Suzanne Ciani - Frkwys Vol. 13: Sunergy

Sunergy brings together synthesists Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Suzanne Ciani for the thirteenth installment of FRKWYS, RVNG Intl.'s intergenerational collaboration series. For this edition, a panorama of the Pacific Coast provides the place and head space for a musical appreciation and consideration of a life-giving form vast and volatile with change. Fortuitously (as is the freaky way), Smith and Ciani were discovered to be neighbors in the small coastal community of Bolinas, California. The two had become close friends, bonding over their experience as woman musicians and, more unusually, their shared passion for the Buchla synthesizer. The music of Sunergy embraces this kinship, with Ciani and Smith respectively performing on the Buchla 200 E and the Buchla Music Easel, two modern configurations of the innovative instrument developed in the '60s by Don Buchla.
Sunergy was recorded in the Bolinas home where Ciani has lived for the last twenty-four years. Her living room overlooks the Pacific Ocean from a cliffside perch, creating an idyllic, inspired setting for music making. Setting up their synths side-by-side, Ciani and Smith took turns keeping time and freely improvising for the album sessions. As a complete piece, Sunergy is shaped by slow, pulsing forms and sinuous, melodic sequences that conjure both an oceanic world and the unlimited sound made possible by modular processing. For her part, Ciani has long been a Buchla voyager. Suzanne proselytized the potential of Don's synthesizer instruments in the '60s and '70s, performing her own compositions before introducing synthesized jingles and sound effects to household audiences. Ciani then achieved wide recognition for her debut album Seven Waves, a collection of colorful, classical song-like melodies fluidly working with harmonic textures and sounds of the ocean shore. Since its 1982 release, Seven Waves has become an important chapter of the ambient canon within which contemporary artists like Smith have developed their own synth syntax. Smith was born just a few years after the appearance of Seven Waves, growing up in Orcas Island, Washington. A place of profound natural beauty, the islands would inform Tides, her first instrumental collection from 2014. Smith composed Tides as an accompaniment for Yoga classes, ultimately freeing her from conventional songwriting into the exploratory, synth-based compositions demonstrated in ecstatic variety on 2016's Ears. Despite the serene setting where Sunergy was realized, the album does not romanticize a complete oneness with nature. Smith and Ciani use their collaborative ground to reflect on the unstable forces at play across the Bolinas horizon. Sunergy takes stock of Bolinas in the 21st century, a once-thriving artist's refuge now vulnerable to real estate pressure extending from affluent San Francisco, and more irreparably, the specter of climate change erasing its many waterfront habitats.
A diametric dynamic is present in Sunergy, a somber meditation amidst the intense cultural and solar forces transforming the landscape, and a hopeful assertion of the surviving creative culture of Bolinas. Far from rehashing the gentle grace of the artists' seminal works, Sunergy instead seeks to awaken and bear witness, employing the Buchla waveforms to mirror the infinite rhythms of the ocean and our essential relationship to it.
Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Suzanne Ciani's Sunergy will be released on September 16, 2016 on LP, CD, and digital formats. An accompanying documentary by Sean Hellfritsch will be offered in tandem.

The project's goal is combining different electronic sounds and genres and building interesting sound-structures in a contemporary way with different technical solutions. Every set of Magamura is a story they tell through sounds and rhythms, taking its cue from the '70-80's experimental music to create a futuristic sound.

* Akiko Kiyama's Kebko Music is proud to announce its third instalment with a debut and one-time-only album by Magamura, an experimental project founded by guitarist Eril Fjord and Laurine Frost, the man behind the Not So Secret Diary label. Focused on their improvisational approach, the Hungarian duo have released no music to date, instead making appearances at renowned festivals and venues like Arma in Moscow and establishing their name with the combination of the former's indie aesthetic and the electronic music prowess the latter has proved on Nervmusic and All Inn under his Coldfish moniker. Despite their huge influence from the 70-80s experimental music, Supernaturals is not so much retrospective as ominously dystopian. It captures and distils their well-known improvisational mutability into a testament to their promising potential, which stands the test of time. True to form, each cassette comes with an individually hand-printed silk screen cardboard case, craftily designed by Damien Tran. Also, Supernaturals is set to be released on vinyl in 2017.

Marcus Fjellström - Skelektikon

Six years after his last album on Miasmah, Schattenspieler, it's great to find Marcus Fjellström resurrected after several long years spent composing his audio-visual opera Boris Christ.

Born out of shattered dreams and an obscured vision of the future, Skelektikon is a delirious yet lucid exploration of the farthest and most conflicted reaches of the heart, teeming with confusion, passion, and ghostly shadows. Being no conventional composer in any way, Marcus stumbles further down his musical domain of detuned orchestral (re-)arrangements and pain-inducing synth passages, arriving at a most unique and personal result. Where Schattenspieler gave way to noir filled alleyways, Skelektikon fills them with paranoia. It's the sound of Limbo, of dancing amoebas, of deviant skeletons, nostalgia and futurism, or quite possibly none of that.

Inhabited by the bizarre and the beautiful, Marcus's music is a blurred yet encouraging representation of how you can never trust your own feelings - or eyes and ears for that matter. And yet, we can't shake the idea that the truth is to be found somewhere within this alien language, as delivered to us through the speakers. Opening our eyes after the final track has dissipated, we wouldn't be surprised to find someone or something there, staring at us, in silent and unsettling knowledge.

Michael Vallera - Vivid Flu

Michael Vallera is a musician and visual artist currently based out of Chicago. He collaborates with percussionist Steven Hess (Locrian) as "Cleared" (Immune Recordings / Utech) and with artist Joseph Clayton Mills as "Maar" (Umor Rex). His first solo LP Distance was released on Opal Tapes in 2015 after a series of cassettes under the pseudonym COIN.

Vivid Flu is the second full-length solo recording from Michael Vallera, and his first on the Denovali imprint. The record is committed to pushing the electric guitar into new territory among a latticework of samples, piano and machinic stutter. The five tracks operate as a fever dream, filled with confusions of space and the cosmic thrum of post-industrial life. The total image is an obscured perspective on something once familiar.

Vivid Flu was recorded by Greg Norman at Electrical Audio in Chicago, Illinois. Further EQ and mixing was done with Benjamin Balcom at MINBAL. The album was mastered by Daniel Rejmer (live sound engineer Ben Frost) for digital and vinyl formats.

Sonic Pieces
03.02.2017

2nd Edition! Full Tone Gatefold Cover Artwork, incl. printed Inner Sleeves, incl. mp3

With their second album Moon Ate the Dark is taking the next step of contemporary piano composition. Moving on from their well-received debut album in 2012, Moon Ate the Dark II is based on an extraordinary playful and varied approach to melodies and drones with dedication to subtle, yet complex details.
The combination of Anna Rose Carter's piano, violin and keyboard playing and Christopher Bailey's electronics, amplifiers as well as organs and synthesizers creates something less shadowy than their first album in favour of a more melodic, still thoughtful endeavour that manages to virtuously move on the thin line of nostalgia and optimism.

While the shorter pieces of the record are mostly based on lively piano tunes completed by forceful electronic components, the attentive ‚Sleepy Vipers' is dragging the listener into drones and violin that slow the pace to create an engaging high mark in the duo's recordings underlined by the excellent production that will grip the listener until the very last notes of the wonderful closing track ‚Lo'. Moon Ate the Dark II is an impressive achievement and evidence of how diverting a meeting of two parts can be if they match as perfectly as this.

This LP-Reissue is presented in a reversed cardboard gatefold jacket, printed in- and outside with full tone colours, and includes printed inner sleeves with the original artwork.

Odeko - Digital Botanics / Construct Conduct

Bath-based producer Odeko returns to Mr. Mitch's blossoming Gobstopper imprint with a new two-track single, following a 2016 that saw the label release EPs from mainstay Loom and Irish duo CLU, as well as Odeko's debut record, 'A History With Samus'. Deeply idiosyncratic, Odeko's sound references a variety of themes without ever feeling bound by any and on 'Digital Botanics', he takes this bright, one-of-a-kind sound design to new heights. Subtle trap patterns provide the foil for gloopy, toy-like melodies to glide over the top, spiked by short bursts of growling, industrial noise. On 'Construct Conduct', Odeko offers his take on euphoric, 80s-inspired synth music — only prepped for the future — with pulsating, heady grooves and spiralling, acid-y melodies nodding to a growing reputation that he is quietly becoming one of the UK's most exciting young sound designers.

* A1: 'King Stays' A track that has been supported up and down the, from Calibre to Dj Hype, this is one of the rare drum
and bass cross spectrum tracks. Release and T>I draw on both their strengths combining a minimal stripped back approach, whilst creating a bouncy and infectious funk, underpinned with deep subs and flashes of well know breaks. This is a track set to be a landmark in both producers back catalogues.

* B1: 'Make me Feel' A fine balance of musical vibes and a deep underpinning rhythm. Release draws on driving drums and both synthesized and live bass hits to fill the body of the track. Musical samples and well placed FX come together perfectly to give this track a classic light and dark vibe, typical of Release's style.

* B2 :'Giving Up' Pulling together classic vocals, rave samples and growly bass stabs, all working in harmony with a well know drum break, this track chops and pumps in all the right places, whilst giving away hints of nostalgia. This one is made for the floor.

Vit Fana - Irrgang

Irrgang' is the highly anticipated debut album of Ossian Ohlsson's Vit Fana project. Representing a new generation of experimental musicians from Scandinavia pushing the limits of contemporary industrial music, 'Irrgang' is the culmination of a process perfected over several years. While the comfortless drones, ear-piercing noise bursts and razor-sharp synth work may be the album's backbone, the signature trademark of earlier Vit Fana recordings is present in Ohlsson's haunting vocals and the subtle hints of brutal beauty. A highly personal musical statement, 'Irrgang' stands with one foot firmly rooted in the tradition of early industrial noise music, while effectively creating a grotesque universe of its own.

Black Mecha - I.m. Mentalizing

An incredible 2nd chapter of Wold's 'mentation electronics' under the Black Mecha moniker for Profound Lore, following the project's first emergence via The Death of Rave in 2015. This is properly indescribable, genuinely odd music, fused at the meeting point between Black Metal and Power Electronics, think somewhere between the primitive, early experiments at GRM, Maurizio Bianchi's noise reductions and the spannered techno obliterations of Russell Haswell for an idea of what you'll find within.
If you recoiled in horror at their debut LP, AA, then you've probably got no business here either. But if that LP stained your mind as badly as it did our's, you'll also be ravenous for the visceral effect and burning focus of the project's second LP.
From the evocative artwork on the front cover, to the track names, and, fundamentally, the sound of monotone revs, Merzbow-like maelody and hackling drum machines, this album speaks in a unique and poetic techno-primitivist dialect whose linear, condensed rage and emotion is belied by a hypnotic sense of resolution and eye-of-storm calm in a way that connects the urges and intent of Black Metal proper both to power noise and industrialised electronics.
Taking cues from occult, surreal sci-fi culture and literature, and delivered from his nonpareil position in the nebulous field of extreme sonics, Black Mecha employs his Internal Masonry thought inference technique with cryptic incision over seven parts: firstly in a series of five succinctly invasive probes, taking in the bitterest electronics of I.M. Mentalizing, the churning revs of Brain Saw and Psy Fall, and what sounds like a spasmodic Maurizio Bianchi in Head Works; and secondly in a pair of relatively longer pieces including the densely layered gale force of Natural Laser and its deeply buried truths, and then, most remarkably, with the intensifying knot of roiling gristle and diffracted, lacerating laser tones in Mental Picture.
If anything, we can safely say that it's a worthy follow-up to its outlandish predecessor, AA, and arguably one of the most vital dispatches from the brink that we've heard since that record. If you've ever been compelled by music from Merzbow, Alberich, Maurizio Bianchi, Russell Haswell or Dave Phillips, and loved it but weren't totally sure why, then this album is strongly tipped to you.

Carsten Jost - Perishable Tactics

In the midst of a busy year, full of wildly-varied accomplishments, David Lieske (aka Carsten Jost) has surprised us all with an unannounced 11-track full-length album on Dial-- his first since 2000's "You Don't Need A Weatherman..." In the interim he's kept busy curating countless releases on Dial, the label he co-runs with Peter "Lawrence" Kersten, celebrated a 15 year label anniversary with an all-encompassing 2LP/various artists'

compilation, released a gallery-edition album of his black ambient collaboration Misanthrope CA with Robert Kulisek, "Deathbridge" and launched a new magazine project (also with Kulisek) named after the speed of light i.e. "299792458m/s". All this activity, even after his recent trans-atlantic relocation from Berlin to New York City, mainly to open the American branch of Mathew Gallery has surely taken us all by welcome surprise.
Out of all of the Dial house and techno artists, Carsten Jost has always represented the most precise brand of exquisitely doom-laden house, laced with equally strong doses of melancholy and beauty. Here on "Perishable Tactics", Lieske runs through his distinctively stealthy low-slung beat-mospheres, leaning towards a decidedly low-lit and sultry space, but mixed with a fresh, gently arc-ing feeling of romance and dare I say itLove() Tellingly he's seen it fit to include 2007's "Love"-one of his best e.p. tracks from a split release with Efdemin. But while "Love" represents a climbing and yearning towards a place where love might reside, the remaining new tracks debuting here seem to represent a place where this love actually exists. This feeling is woven into his deep, medium tempo, detroit-inflected house rhythms, accented with crystalline keys, disembodied voices at times and gently soaring strings. While anger may be less in the forefront here it is important to notice that these tracks are ripe with the balance of joy and unease inherent in house. There is definitely a newfound languidity here that feels particularly like a moment shared by two (perhaps amongst many) but the atmosphere still remains decidedly pensive. See "Ambush" with it's strolling beat, moody yet sweet chords and chilling atmosphere later joined by thunder cracking in an almost-approving-manner a safe-distance away.
Of course diehard fans will find satisfaction knowing that Lieske's delectable angst hasn't completely abated. Title track "Perishable Tactics" takes a disarmingly peaceful setting and rolls a heavy fog over it to herald a sure-to-arrive fate that awaits us all. (See also "Army Green".). But with "Dawn Patrol" the whispering hi-hat and gently clanking rhythm offset by rolling strings marries the old and new Carsten Jost most successfully. All of this atmosphere bookended by ambient intro and outro tracks by Misanthrope CA make for a perfectly foreboding, elegant and deliciously dark new album release by Carsten Jost.

Dave Phillips - Rise

Dave Phillips

Rise

12inchIDEAL144
Ideal Recordings
31.01.2017

Frighteningly messed-up and compelling slab from Schimpfluch-Gruppe participant Dave Phillips, whom with Rise arguably establishes a crucial bridge between the continuum of radical European outsider art and NON or Halcyon Veil's politically-charged, hyperreal soundscapes.
Accompanied by some of the most fascinating sleeve notes we've read since, ooh, Pauline Oliveros' Primordial/Lift, Dave Phillips' Rise conveys a starkly impending warning about human greed and the tendency toward anthropocentric worldviews and 'extractivism', as opposed to stewardship, all rendered thru seven scenes scrolling from convulsive hyperviolence to detached, abyssal drone and clawing cacophony.
We really couldn't say whether Phillips, a tireless 'purveyor of radical sound since the mid '80s' has heard or is even aware of the NON phenomena or Halcyon Veil's abrasive aesthetics, but the textural and political similarities between those vital new labels and Phillips' cranky ass are just too striking to ignore.Face first, he sucks us into the peristaltic paroxysms of We Know Enough To Know How Much
We Will Never Know with a sense of arrhythmic chaos and trepidation that feels like Rabit and John Wiese imagining a world where feral populations fight over the last food and goods on the shelves, before Rise steps outside into a bombed out scape strafed with buzzing flies, and Culture Of Ethical Failure sinks into a fetid mire of soggy textures and deeply unpleasant torture chamber wretches dappled with minor key piano motifs.
The Construct farther gnaws at the simulacra's shaky resolution with visceral, unsettling white noise distortion, and Solastalgia / Ohnmacht feels like the infinite intro to a Venetian Snares calamity which never manifests, instead serving up grindcore rage in Only The Cockroaches Shall Survive To Rule The Earth, and leaving us petrified at what may come with the primordial orgy, A Grain of Salt (Goes a Long Way).
OK, there's definitely a distinction to be made between Phillips' extreme angled weltanschauung and the hypermodern consciousness of NON and their affiliates, but it's surely better to hear their relative similarities and, if you're a DJ or listener who likes to mess around with their records, to crash and layer 'em together in the mix where we'd imagine they'll really come alive together.

22.07.2016

ZamZam Sounds' Tracy and Ezra have been close followers of Alpha & Omega and Alpha Steppa from day. ZamZam is well-pleased to finally be able to present two exclusive tunes from the UK powerhouse. Now three fantastic albums deep via Steppas Records, Dub Dynasty is composed of Alpha Steppa and Alpha & Omega (Alpha Steppa's father and aunt). Two generations of UK dub combine for a sound with roots in orthodox 80s UK sound system, pushed into new post-dubstep territory.

For their debut ZamZam the trio unearthed two early sessions, recorded and mixed during the formative months of the Dub Dynasty project. Unreleased until now, these two staunchly 140 pounders marry the weight of classic A&O to the digital space and sensibility of Alpha Steppa for maximum pressure in the dance.

Dub Cure combines the bucolic ambience of Christine Omega's chickens (!!) with majestic horns and an absolutely storming steppers kit. The massive bassline propels a stripped yet anthemic tune for sound systems of every size and stripe. Named for "the ritual performed by Korean shamans, involving offerings and sacrifices to the gods and ancestor worship, rhythmic movements, songs, oracles and prayers,' Kut () is powered by a driving riddim that skillfully rides the knife edge between steppers and one drop, featuring a detuned melodica figure alongside plucked guitar, punk skanks and the masterful dubbing we expect from this regal concern.

Jeff Mills - A Trip To The Moon

When Georges Méliès created Trip To The Moon in 1902, the world was just beginning to feel the tightening, yet exciting effects of another giant leap in modern civilization with the Industrial Age. It was a place in time that was transformable and in all dimensions of an evolutionary process: social, economic and political revolutions were buzzing. As man worked hard under the Sun, exposing his efforts and determination, it was the Moon that hatched his dreams. It was a time of realization and a time of romance'. - Jeff Mills

Madteo - Confessions Of A Permanent Alien Opium Beater

1

Somewhere between a Dadaistic mixtape, a surreal audio collage sourced from his record collection, and sporadic interjections from his own storehouse of outlandish and intriguing productions, this 79-minute journey reveals Madteo's freewheeling rigor in the studio. Prone to glitching, rhythmic ruptures, and end-times bass frequencies, Confessions surfs quark-infested waters with hallucinogenic logic. Fragmentation rules everything around Madteo. You will hear — among other things — Adderall-addled raps subsumed by mutant techno, radio ads for trance-blues masters Canned Heat, riveting noise-techno merging into lopsided hiphop reminiscent of Jan Jelinek's Exposures project, the passionate folk balladry of Lucio Battisti, the glittery soul of Billy Preston, and some of the coldest and oddest electro funk ever. Throughout, Madteo flaunts baffling, unprecedented sounds arranged in confounding configurations. Confessions of a Permanent Alien Opium Beater is another crucial piece of a discography from one of music's most fascinating enigmas, a celestial lysergic jukebox that conjures new pleasures and deeper mysteries with each listen.

Vermont - I I

Vermont

I I

CDKOMCD133
Kompakt
01.03.2017

Following their much-acclaimed surprise debut album VERMONT from 2014, Motor City Drum Ensemble's Danilo Plessow and Innervisions' Marcus Worgull reunite for more synth daydreaming on the suitably titled 'II'. The new outing continues where the first full-length left off, strolling further down the luminous and undulating path that the duo turned into, influenced in equal measures by kosmische, krautrock, minimal wave and synth soundtracks.
This latest batch of instrumental cuts opens with the strictly balearic vibe of NORDERNEY, a softly swinging, light-footed recording with a keen sense for structure. Featuring a guest performance from Robbert Van Der Bildt (aka Kaap) on guitar, it's a telling starting point for the album that - similar to Vermont's self-titled debut - successfully navigates between economic, careful studio arrangements and playful, incidental exploration further pushing into jam session territory. Van Der Bildt's guitar returns on the plucky, curious UFER, where Vermont showcase a renewed sense for jazz-like improvisation - same as on the cuts DSCHUNA, CHANANG and WENIK, which also include contributions from Dermot O'Mahony and Tadhg Murphy on strings.
Still, Vermont's synth contraptions remain the album's main attraction, with the extensive array of gear encompassing an entire panopticon of analog bling - from Arp Oddysey and Moog Prodigy to Fender Rhodes, Juno and Prophet, list-studying gear heads will find lots to drool upon. Consequently, tracks like CHEMTRAILS, UNRUH or GEBIRGE err on the machine side of things, expertly interweaving arpeggiated sequences for maximum atmospheric effect. Foreboding, slightly menacing synth motives as on SKORBUT or CHEMTRAILS are perfectly balanced with the casual ambient of HALLO VON DER ANDEREN SEITE and the nostalgic warmth of DEMUT - while the gentle push of the masterful KI-BOU even carries a whiff of classic deep house, linking the Vermont project to Plessow and Worgull's main careers as dance floor movers and shakers.
Continually intriguing, immersive and texturally rich, each one of Vermont's new pieces betray the experience, precision and determination of the producers involved - while opening up Worgull and Plessow'a vocabulary for patient experimentation and subtle discoveries. A musical treat for synth aficionados - and everyone else, if you ask us.

Von D - Politricks

Von D

Politricks

12inchKHALIPHONIC07
Khaliphonic
02.03.2017

Jerome Meyer AKA Von D is a master craftsman, well-known for releasing dubstep and bass music since 2009. On an increasingly prolific trajectory since last year, recent 12's on Infernal Sounds, Trojan Audio and Scotch Bonnet have signaled his renewed focus on dubwise productions. We are proud to say that Von D's Khaliphonic debut sees him fully committing to reggae and dub - in his words, going back to my musical roots.'

Politricks' is a masterwork, cut from the same living rock as the classic Cuss Cuss riddim, a simply huge bass and drum workout that is truly one for the ages. Politricks is an anthem for now, a call to avoid the dead-end of politics-as-usual and a warning to beware of the lies politicians tell to keep themselves in power - full of promises but changing nothing. Von D says that working with Don Cotti was very natural,' and their easy relationship is audible - the tune fits the vocal like a glove, and Cotti's instantly-recognizable singjay style gives even more gravitas to an already heavy track. The dub version spools out Von D's signature saturated echoes even further, and opens up spectral chambers of reverb that shimmer and glow.

The B side Ygrec' is an equally massive tune, just as compelling if more meditative and mysterious, coming in both one drop and power-steppers mixes for maximum versatility and vibes. Both tunes and their versions feature an incredibly robust, warm, human sound - one that simply can't come from machines alone - live drums, bass, and kete drum among other instruments maintain the tradition of live musicians in dub - to say nothing of expert desk-based mixing and deployment of live analog effects the way the elders intended. Both tunes dial in at 140 making them perfect for roots and dubstep selectors alike.

Von D got his start as a drummer and engineer outside Paris, in the heady days of original jungle. Early releases on Disfigured Dubz, Hench, Boka, Black Acre and the seminal V Recordings, as well as his reggae-oriented Liquid Wicked project, cemented his reputation. Don Cotti is a prolific producer, DJ and MC with releases stretching back to 2006 on labels as varied as Bass Face, Studio Rockers, and Soul Jazz.

Dan Bodan - Anonymous / Hunger Games

Limited vinyl edition of two previously digital-only singles by Berlin singer, songwriter, and producer. Dan Bodan, hailed by Pitchfork as "an expression of the storied NYC dance label's more oddball tastes." First up is "Anonymous", a poignant portrait of yearning for the post-Facebook generation. The A side is rounded out with a remix by DJ Richard (1/2 White Material with Young Male) that manages to drag the track to even deeper depths of anxiety. The flip features 2013 single "Hunger Games", a widescreen epic of a track that will be stripped down to the bare minimum on Dan's forthcoming LP. It features production by left-field dance geniuses Physical Therapy and Ville Haimala of Renaissance Man. Comes in a custom spineless picture sleeve featuring an illustration by Julien Ceccaldi.

Exploring Jezebel - On A Business Trip To London

17

On A Business Trip To London is an album of curious electronics and sissy dance conceived under the shadow of Big Ben by Vivid Extreme. Initial research carried out at Ibis City Hotel, London; purple nail polish applied in Berlin and New York City. The result is the perfect and perhaps overdue meeting of emasculated P.E, limp-wristed ornamental industrial, sickly minimal synth and cheap suntanned trollop techno. What's more, its tinny rhythmic ringtone cycles of humiliation and debasement evince an unlikely humanity: there is yearning behind the red ballgag and loud make-up cake; Duck's piggy eyes betray an implacable melancholy. Indeed, despite the sexually explicit nature of its content, On A Business Trip To London is a highly accessible and often disarmingly pretty work which will appeal to the belissima ballerina in all working men. Required listening for all who admire those qualities most fascinating in a woman: allure, magnetism, power and dominance. Exploring Jezebel has been active since 2008's Locking Up The Husband's Penis Is Not Slavery, But Rather The Greatest Act Of Kindness Given To A Man and Attending UCLA Lecture On Forced Feminization, and notable releases since include the 12-hour, 8-cassette set Penis Torture Chamber (2010) and 2014's Performs For Her And Her Bulls (all Hospital Productions). On A Business Trip To London is Exploring Jezebel's first vinyl offering, and is presented in a full colour gatefold sleeve with two printed inserts; the album will also be issued on CD and digital formats. This release is for ADULTS ONLY. It contains uncensored sexually explicit material unsuitable for minors. You must be at least 18 to purchase this item. Access and/or ownership may be prohibited in certain states/countries.

Kangding Ray / Rrose - Ardent / Swallows

This latest installment in the Stroboscopic saga once again calls upon the talents of two label veterans, both having released EPs on the label while also contributing to its five-year retrospective series. This new split release shared between Kangding Ray and Rrose is a fitting partnership: after all, both individuals are known for advancing the progress of rhythmic electronic music while drawing from creative influences and movements that weren't typically associated with the 'techno' lineage until these producers made such links possible.

Kangding Ray's side, Ardent,' is a gripping and propulsive piece formed in the same spirit as the songs from his latest full-length, Cory Arcane. Dramatic and cinematic from beginning to end, it makes the listener and/or dancer feel like a highly alert martial artist slicing and kicking through a host of liquid-metallic adversaries, with disciplined synth bass and rich melodic swells as defensive weapons. Slick and accessible without ever being conventional, Ardent' convincingly collages stuttering and minced sequences together with steady percolation and smooth, brassy undertones - three different sonic 'states of matter' that unify to make Kangding Ray's musical imagination into an almost tactile thing.

The entity known as Rrose, meanwhile, presents a track here that reaffirms that artist's expert skill at crafting perfectly symmetrical and mesmerizing musical palindromes (a skill that can be seen on other standout Stroboscopic Artefacts tracks like The Stare,' and also on Rrose's interpretation of James Tenney's classic palindrome Koan (Having Never Written A Note For Percussion)).' The track in question, Swallows,' is appropriately named, impressing upon listeners like the sonic equivalent of a massive searchlight which, once it lands upon its target, swallows or vacuums up the listener's conscious attention. This elegantly arching set of multiplying and disintegrating waveforms rewards those with the courage to return its insistent gaze and to play at maximum' volume to reveal the wealth of detail concealed within its deceptive minimalism.

With its scientific exactness and sheer originality, this split is an essential listen not just for fans of either artist, but also for any seeker after new perceptual revelations.

Kelle - Respirator/radiophobia

Program
14.04.2014

With two floor-shattering releases from Eastcolors and Teddy Killerz already unleashed this year, Program continues to surge into 2014 with clarity, command and concentrated future-focused clout.

Yet another showcase of drum & bass's finest international creativity, here we find the label hooking up with Hungarian artist Kelle. Well respected across all corners of the ever-expanding world of bass, Kelle's distinctive mechanical soul went next level last year when both 'Respirator' and 'Radiophobia' featured on Andy C's massive 'Nightlife 6'. Lean, mean and coded with industrial funk data, they've caused all manner of stirs and demands amongst DJs and fans since Andy debuted them.

Living up to its name, 'Respirator' is heavier than an iron lung. Stripped back and steppy, the alluring dynamic builds around a hypnotic hook before a waspish bassline buzzes in from nowhere. Sprung with a heady, insistent riddim that slams with uncompromising muscle, Kelle's attention to detail and production craftsmanship are just as impossible to avoid as the physical, body-minded groove.

'Radiophobia' is equally distinctive. Charged with a penetrative two-step drum arrangement and another instantly hooky riff, there's a captivating sense of drama programmed into every element. Conjuring a masterful sense of groove theatrics, the breakdown strips the track back to a bare pad before all elements are triggered in unison for a high impact second drop. Peppered with naughty nuances and subtle twists, we guarantee you'll hear something new on every listen.

Two examples of drum & bass at its most stark, progressive and forward-thinking; two reasons why we reckon Kelle is on a one track mission to the D&B premier league. It's time, as always, to get with the Program!

* OVERVIEW: L 33... Get acquainted as we think it's a name you'll be hearing A LOT more of in the future. Hailing from the creative D&B hotbed that is Bulgaria, L 33 has been creeping up the ranks with covert diligence and a sonic attitude that's going to take him right to the top.
* Already enjoying big love and support from scene titans Drum&BassArena, here we find him making his Program debut with two scorching underground future-focused work-outs. Recognise...
* 'Helvetica' is a heavily textured roller that flips and flexes with intricate production detail. The primary focus is a slinky, jittering metallic bassline that springs with concentrated funk. Flanked by an array of twisted FX, stabs and dynamite drum arrangement switches, it's an infectious, physical dynamic that guarantees full dancefloor lock down from the off.
* The darkness and drama develops as we take in 'Detuned'. A paranoid build-up of cinematic elements acts as the fuse for a truly explosive drop. Slamming with caustic clarity over sharp steppy beats, the overwhelming power and urgency can be felt through every treacherous twist and turn. The savagery steps up a gear on the breakdown as we're presented with the full detuned riser that inspired the name of the track. Soaring and surging from a bed of heaving synth horns with pure sonic insanity, it will inspire nothing but complete crowd chaos.

Medison & Ruckspin Feat. Rider Shafique - Life Cycle

After a short radio silence, Pressed Records is back to proudly present you the 'Life Cycle' EP produced by common sound travellers Medison & Ruckspin.

Their joint-effort has resulted in an earth-rattling production that is blessed by powerful lyrics from DEEP MEDi-affiliate Rider Shafique and a must-hear remix by Quantum Soul.

Rider Shafique spills his wisdom on the mystical endeavour 'Life Cycle', containing sediment that drags listeners into the fundamental exploration of his powerful penmanship. Every word falls into place when Medison & Ruckspin, known for their breath-taking audio design, deliver their darkest interpretation to date, all for this long- awaited Pressed release. The London-based musicians strike by eclipsing vibration and time with an authentic half-step anthem. They have carefully synthesised a jam that builds up and releases tension through perfectly crafted words, sharp percussion and the mind-opening message. The experience that is ultimately established successfully captures a reflection on life and futuristic dubstep music. Quantum Soul's reinterpretation steers into a more sophisticated dub avenue full of wobbles, delayed elements and a wall of sub debris. This even darker outfit showcases the producer's ability to recreate an anthem of his own. The superb FX programming, peaking drum work and shuffling basslines noose effortlessly.Subsonic frequencies, mouth-watering effects and lean strings sonically enrich both tracks making up this twelve-inch record. It collectively allows minds to tune in at the right frequency with the help of Rider Shafique's lyrical wisdom, Medison & Ruckspin's feel for music building and Quantum Souls reinterpretation skills. With the next record nearing with the speed of light, just try and keep up with these future- bounding frequencies. We at Pressed Records are ready to fully announce our 12th release!

Spirits is the debut EP of Sabla, one of the heads who's always been close to the Gang. Field recording, ethnic samples and machine sound live together to create structures midway between Andy Stott's dark journeys and Donato Dozzy's relentless rhythms, marrying at the same time the philosophy of Gang of Ducks.

The sound matrix of the ep, through its repetitive and progressive attitude, takes the role of alienating the listener and taking him into a state of hypnosis. A polirythmic definition confuses the percussions in order never to define a single loop line, but softening the rhythmic cycles.

G.O.D remixes the main track 'Spirits' annuling the rhythm section and adding a vocal mantra, taking everything on an esoteric level. Ital, fresh from his double ep on Planet Mu, centers his rework midways between house and techno, perfect to crash the dancefloor during peaktime.

Sabla is a project born and raised in Turin, devotely committed to the study of hypnotic sounds and poly rythms. Alter ego conceived during the performance A Great Symphony For Torino in collaboration with Kode9, DVA, British Council and Club to Club festival, for which he has produced two tracks together with XIII in 2013 and 2014. At the beginning of 2015 his debut ep is released on the label Gang of Ducks, with reworks by Ital (Planet Mu) and by the curators of the label G.O.D. He's also active under different monikers as a visual artist.

Natural Sciences is a "Manchester mutant electronics" label with an irreverent view of dance music history, making classic genres lo-fi and crunchy, recklessly mashing them together or dipping into newer trends. They put out a lot of records—some better than others—but you can usually count on them to deliver a zany energy. The debut from Belgian producer Datawave feels a little more serious, launching into the outer-space world of established electro artists like The Exaltics and Dopplereffekt. But the more considered approach works wonders, making for one of the label's most fully-realized releases yet.

"Stellar Wind" is a pitch-perfect piece of Detroit electro, with anxious choral pads, booming basslines and a brisk but steady drum pattern make you feel like you're cruising through space at a comfortable warp speed. The darker "Hidden Outpost" features jagged basslines and vocoder vocals, while woozy synths give it a sci-fi sheen. Neither of these tracks are terribly original, but they're lush and confident, yet another Natural Sciences release that reveals a confident new artist.

Always innovating and evolving his distinct sound, the bassline architect Digital wanted to have a different approach to this album project. With this album, each collaborator contributes their unique styles to a collective synthesised vision.' says Digital.

In the process of making this album, he personally travelled around to collaborate with each producer as opposed to sending files through the internet. Digital explains I'd much prefer to get a vibe off in the studio personally and the results feel more authentic, more real when you're in the studio together. And as a result of working on this album, I feel that we've formed a collective of sorts that is larger than this project.'

Biosphere - Substrata

***2017 REPRESS!!***

One of the all-time classic ambient albums. This edition of Substrata is released by Geir Jenssen's own label Biophon Records. It comes as a double gatefold album with the bonus album Man With A Movie Camera.

Biosphere is widely regarded as one of the legendary names in ambient / electronic music. Residing in Norway, near the Arctic Circle, he has found the focus to slowly and steadily create a self-contained aural universe, made up of reflective and immersive sound sculptures. For almost fifteen years he has released a string of critically acclaimed albums. Substrata, which marked Jenssen's embarkation towards an intensely minimal style, is not only often considered to be Jenssen's best work to date, but is also seen as one of the all time classic ambient albums.

David Stubbs, Melody Maker, 1997: "The best ambient album I've heard in an ice age, an album of terrifying, desolate and all-enveloping beauty".

New artwork by David Coppenhall.

Commix expands on the 'Generation' EP series. Part 1 was a reintroduction via new material peppered with older material.

EP 2 is all new material and very excited to be able to release it. The EP spans BPMs and palettes, it's the sound of Commix not only sharing his influences but adding to those influences with his own contributions. Already a firm favourite with the electronic music scene the EP is a exactly what we want to hear from Commix at this point in time.

Dom & Roland - Last Refuge Of A Scoundrel

The whispers have been building gradually for Dom & Roland's album for Metalheadz and now we're very happy to be able to reveal the sampler for the project. The sampler kicks off with 'Sirens Song' feat Robert Manos, typically cinematic work from Dom with Robert Manos' trademark vocals, the drum work is some of Doms finest to date.

* 'Tone Poem' has been a highlight of Goldie's sets for the last few months and its easy to see why: big bass and lashing drums make this one an instant wheel up

Dom & Roland - Last Refuge Of A Scoundrel

* This full length album for Headz from Jungle Drum & Bass alumni Dom & Roland comes at a perfect time for the artist and the label, it follows his massive "Outta Endz / Unofficial Jah remix"release and comes at a time where the label has been at its most fertile in recent memory.

* The album harks back to pioneering 90s aesthetic of the music but it doesn't feel retrospective, in fact it feels futuristic- a thread that Dom has made sure ties all his work together. The reference points for the album stretch far and wide, from the inspiring and equally green eyed Sunday Sessions at Blue Note to RZA's approach to sampling.

* Dom's own words on the album perhaps shed the most light:
"The album is inspired and processed via a collection of moments I had through growing up, the things i was into, memories of good and bad times i'd had and the music i was listening to at the time'
Collaborations are kept sparse and potent, US legend Hive turns in a very rare appearance on "D.M.T"and vocal features come from Robert Manos and Natalie Duncan.

The album is Dom & Roland exorcising his artistic demons and we're proud to be releasing the project on Metalheadz.
Let's leave Goldie to have the last word on the album:
"It blows everything else away. Hands down...Right now.... Dom's album destroys everything.

Eric Lau - Examples

06.02.2017

Gabriel S. Schray is a producer and musician living Stateside in Akron, Ohio, a city of 200,000 people. He's been making and putting out music for years, though save for an LP on Bark & Hiss in 2012, most of his work has been self-released. For his latest album he's partnered with Last Resort, a brand new London-based label born from the NTS Radio show of the same name. *Gabriel* is a sunny, mellow record, rich with light and emotion. None of its eight tracks are easily confined to any one genre, floating somewhere between ambient, new age and whatever style or sound you'd ascribe to The Durutti Column or Talk Talk. On a more modern tip, think Suzanne Kraft or Lord Of The Isles (minus the kick drums). Schray played all the various instruments himself, whittling down the final versions from their lengthy original recordings. The whole thing took him more than a year to complete-a labour of love assembled organically and with feeling.

Hecker - A Script For Machine Synthesis

The latest work from Florian Hecker A Script for Machine Synthesis is an experimental auditory drama and a model of abstraction. A Script for Machine Synthesis presents a complex simplicity that spirals in an unending manner as an audio image of the uncanny valley. It is the third chapter in the trilogy of text-sound pieces Hecker has collaborated with the philosopher Reza Negarestani. A resynthesized voice outlines procedure as procedure itself unfolds.

The suggestive encounter with a pink ice cube is a conceptual point of departure for a scene in which linguistic chimeras of descriptors are materialized through synthetic trophies, mental props and auditory objects.

Hecker presents a synthesis of the gap in the valley which we almost know. The motifs Hecker has staged in the last decade, the text, the sound, the scent, the obelisk, the demon, the self, the other all appear throughout in a thorough, rigid and formal exploration.

Exeunt all human actors, A Script for Machine Synthesis is an experiment in putting synthetic emptiness back into synthetic thought.

  • 4: A White Truck
  • 5: Ten Sleep
  • 6: Black Shimmer
  • 7: Hypoxia
  • 8: Rushlight
  • 9: Song For A Last Night

High Plains is the duo of Scott Morgan and Mark Bridges.

Morgan, based in the Canadian Pacific Northwest, is predominantly known for his drifting, textured soundscapes released under the pseudonym LOSCIL.

Bridges is an accomplished, classically-trained cellist residing in Madison, Wisconsin.

The two met in Banff, Alberta while they were simultaneously there on residencies at the Banff Centre for the Arts in 2014. They first collaborated when Bridges contributed cello parts to Morgan's generative music app ADRIFT, recorded in Seattle in 2015.

In early 2016, the duo embarked on a collaborative set of compositions in the oxygen thin air of Wyoming, spending two weeks holed up in a refurbished school house in the town of Saratoga, where this album was recorded.

Inspired by Schubert's Die Winterreiseand the rolling landscapes of
their surroundings, the collaboration culminated in a collection of recordings that evoke a shadowy, introspective and dizzying winter journey.

Cinderland takes cues from classical, electronic and cinematic
musical traditions but is mostly a product of the rugged, mythic landscape; vast and sprawling with a wild, uncertain edge.

The recording was made with a portable studio and all sounds were sourced on site, most notably from Bridges' cello, the resident Steinway D piano, and field recordings collected from the local soundscape.

The results are a site specific, wide scope view of thehigh valley terrain the duo worked in, a mix of analog and digital, neoclassical and modern electronic sounds, a complemental series of tracks to become absorbed in, a truly deep listening experience.

The cover art forCinderland was created by London-based artist, Peter Liversidge.

Jay Glass Dubs - Dislocated Folklore

Dimitris Papadatos (b.1981,USA) is a composer, musician and sound artist based in Athens Greece. His experimentation in various territories of sound began in 2002 and since then he has indulged in sonic areas that vary from pop music to music-concrete, post-grime and dub. At the moment he actively runs three projects: U, The Hydra and Jay Glass Dubs.

Jay Glass Dubs is an exercise of style focusing on a counter-factual historical approach of dub music, stripped down to its basic drum/bass/vox/effects form.

His work has been presented in various institutions and festivals from the Transmediale, the Athens Biennale, the Onassis Cultural Centre and Fasma Festival, to the Athens/Epidaure Festival, Cynetart Festival and the Greek National Theatre while he has composed scores for award winning short films and pioneering theatrical performances.

He has performed in venues and spaces such as Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, mo.ë in Vienna, Bios in Athens,Echo Buecher in Berlin,Salon Des Amateurs in Dusseldorf , Detail Gallery in Paris and Goldsmiths University in London. His music has been featured in various radio shows including Trevor Jackson's show on NTS Radio, Sam Segal's show on WFMU, Tristan Bath's "Spool's Out" show on UK's Resonance FM and Tiny Mix Tapes' "Tabs Out" podcast.

Dislocated Folklore, recorded especially for The Tapeworm, consists of two 30 minute long tracks that incorporate mainly stretched-out 0'03" sample recordings of 90s Ragga 12" single intros combined with and recordings of a Quran recitation from a Turkish TV channel and Jay Glass Dubs' signature hybrid hardware/software set-up. The title refers to (and therefore is an intended pun of) the misinterpretation of "otherism" "orientalism", "exoticism", etc..., - phrases often used over the past 100 years to describe a tendency of metropolitan musicologists to intellectualise forms of expression that have a very strong relation to roots, religion and ethics.

'When Georges Méliès created Trip To The Moon in 1902, the world was just beginning to feel the tightening, yet exciting effects of another giant leap in modern civilization with the Industrial Age.

  • 3: ) Memory Trace
  • 4: ) Array
  • 5: Vivo Wish
  • 6: ) Eki

Subtext's latest signing is Joshua Sabin, a Scottish musician and artist based in Leith, Edinburgh.

* Joshua's debut album Terminal explores humans' relationship with environment and space, and how this experience is augmenting us as we further embrace a digital age. Our structures of communication, exploration, and discovery are mediated by technological shifts and we exist in simultaneity between our physical environment and emerging cyberspaces with a blended perception of embodiment and orientation within both.

* Sirens reverberating through station tunnels, fluctuating harmonics of subway engines, echoing tannoy systems, piercing screams of electromagnetic fields.

* The sonic material of this album is composed exclusively of field-recordings captured in transit through Kyoto, Tokyo, and Berlin, in addition to electromagnetic field recordings captured in Glasgow and Edinburgh. By interrogating the sonic properties of our physical environment, Terminal imagines the sonic landscapes of these dualistically navigable 'cyberspaces' we transiently create and move through interacting with our world.

Kassel Jaeger & Jim O'rourke - Wakes On Cerulean

Timely outing from two grand masters of exploratory electronics. Kassel Jaeger is the moniker of French musician François Bonnet who works at the GRM and has released a number of books including the highly regarded The Order of Sounds, A Sonorous Archipelago published by Urbanomic in 2016. Jim O'Rourke is known to most through his explorations of the song and shapes, the high and low, the east and south.

Wakes on Cerulean is a joint adventure where process folds upon process and the operation of procedure remains unknown. Amongst a mysterious cloud of excited high frequencies tiny whistling howls. Frog leaps in technique lay out a thrilling and uplifting journey that runs from the soothing to ecstatic and back to the buoyant again.

Wakes on Cerulean is a staggering feast of the joys found in electronic process. A malleable bubble of hovering excitement, melody and joyous refrain.

May peace prevail on Earth

Editions Mego is proud to present the latest opus from legendary British composer, actor, sound designer and all round fine human Simon Fisher Turner. Giraffe is a new major work which blurs the lines between sound design and song, machine severity and narrative sentimentality. Subtitled 'living in sounds and music' Giraffe take the listener through a vast journey where an abstract clacking of unknown origin rubs up against a melancholic electronic sequence. 'Life sounds' were captured with a portable hard disc recorder and i-phone and appear alongside contemporar sound design. Emma Smith provides the narrative on 'Slight Smile' whilst electronic machines grind amongst background industrial klang in 'Mud Larks'. 'Save As' revolves around a beautiful simple piano motif which soon folds into an unnerving field recording and drone combination.

Giraffe is a document of interior and exterior duality. A living space where machines and the surrounding world collide, a sonic landscape where musical and nonmusical elements are placed on an level hierarchy. The alchemy of these constituent parts results in the magic of Giraffe, one where the symbiotic sequence of events highlights a unique approach to sound as rapturous matter in whatever form it takes.

Lywood has worked alongside some of the most prestigious names in art, fashion, music and film - from Led Zeppelin to Louis Vuitton, The Venice Biennale to The Serpentine Art Gallery, in a career spanning over 20 years. JUNK sees Lywood stepping into the limelight for the first time with these eight epic psychedelic dance-floor and spaced out instrumental visions.
JUNK is inspired by Vik Muniz's ground-breaking documentary Waste Land, which tells the story of the landfill site, Jardim Gramacho, on the outskirts of Rio De Janeiro. Recycling fragments of German electronica, disco and 80's synth from his childhood and fusing these with new, found sounds, Lywood takes us on a journey through his world of JUNK re-imagined.
Five of the tracks are named after some of the largest landfill sites around the world, and Trash Vortex is named after the swirling mass of plastic waste the size of Texas, in the North Pacific. Lywood stays close to Muniz's mission to 'change the lives of a group of people with the same material that they deal with everyday'.** Cover artwork by Keith Coventry, the celebrated fine artist represented by Pace Gallery**

Hatti Vatti - Worship Nothing

New Moon Recordings' cornerstone artist Hatti Vatti is set to release his long-awaited debut album, entitled Worship Nothing, on 3 February 2014.
Having released a string of 12"s since 2009, Hatti Vatti's sound has previously flowed seamlessly between deep dubstep and a minimal, Autonomic sound. Releases for Mindset, New Moon, On The Edge, and Absys have marked this Polish producer apart for his cinematic take on bass-driven, dub-rooted electronic music. Hatti Vatti closed 2013 with the release of Algebra, a stripped-down mini-album of Middle Eastern field recordings and ambient techno for Nowe Nagrania.
Worship Nothing sees Hatti Vatti's artistic journey culminate into a single, coherent vision - a vision that is simultaneously spacious and deeply intimate. A futuristic sheen of 80's nostalgia penetrates much of Worship Nothing, even within the familiar restrained dub of "Struggle" (with Polish vocalist Sara Brylewska) and "Wonderful World" (with Irish vocalist Cian Finn). The organic synths remain In "Treasure" and "72 Dub", though the rhythms become decidedly more manic, hinting towards the feverish feel of footwork while remaining decidedly introspective. Floating, haunted vocals pervade the half-step of "Tokyo" a shimmering collaboration with Manchester producer Synkro. Also hovering around the minimal 170bpm sound are "Synthesis" and "Black Flowers", which features vocals from Lady Katee. Slowing down to a garage-tinted swing, "Nights" is yet another collaboration with a UK artist - Versa.
Throughout Worship Nothing, Hatti Vatti has created an atmosphere that draws the listener deep into his own world of beautifully crafted beats, ambient textures, and sub-bass frequencies. Grab your headphones and float away...

Only a few nuggets of information exist on The Valley and The Mountain. They/he/she hail(s) from Detroit. Previous work has featured on labels like WeMe and Shipwrec. That's it. And the mysterious producer has been quiet of late, but the return is well worth the wait. Gentle Waters Keep Moving is the first full length outing from TVTM and their/his/her most absorbing work to date. Sharpened edges are rounded, 303 squawk softened and rhythms mellowed as ten tracks of melting music is served. The Detroit denizen calls on the sounds of the hometown. Techno is at the album's heart but frosted touches of electro are present, warming acid twangs, house grooves with all being dipped in a refreshing undercurrent of electronica. A collection of tracks that draws you in, deeper and deeper, with every listen.

Following his participation in the SchleiBen series last year and his recent collaborative release with Wolf Muller on International Feel, Cass. returns with his new explorative solo album, Youth Sessions.Niklas Rehme-Schluter aka Cass. has been making a name since the aptly titled Loops and Farewell Sketches debut appeared in 2013. Collages of soundcaped textures, his music has progressed via a series of cassette releases. Recommended by Jan Schulte during a visit to Dusseldorf, the inclusion of 6 near ambient pieces for the label's SchleiBen albums were a highlight of the series for many.Succeeding this summers The Sounds Of Glades mini-album with Jan (as Wolf Muller), Youth Sessions sees Cass. expand his solo works beyond ambient and kosmische defines towards a more whole encompassing ouvert.Mixing field recordings, percussion loops, samples, Cass. now adds vocals to build and layer with a warmth and glow - evoking long overlooked, but sought feelings. Moments, glimpses of something new yet known. Tracks like Jelli, U and Prismatic Prolog create tension towards The Chase / Holding On, before peaking with the anthemic Ann and outwards again.
Leaving us with the refrains of Space Talk and Your Beautiful Look Is Looping Endlessly In My Head, Cass. progresses his music and also, Emotional Response too. A parallel journey to an end still unknown, with that rush of yearning and hope, a youth that may never of existed, but still for a short time, feels recaptured.

Opener 'Hanckora' lays down a lo-fi infused Hip Hop style to kick things off, while 'Checkma Dem' lies in similar territory with the addition of some vocal stylings as well.

For the most part though Easy To Remember lay the focus on emotive house music, title track 'Pescaiola' plays on multi-layered melodies and retro synths, 'Hijack Percussion' focuses on gritty rhythm and soft atmospherics and 'Try To Escape' brings to light ethereal synth leads and snaking bass grooves. The duo instil some funk influence into the LP as well via 'Feelings' and some experimental touches as well with their Giulio Etiope collaboration 'Degolas' amongst others. All in all Easy To Remember deliver a refreshing take on modern electronica across the project and further prove Unclear is a force to be reckoned with in the underground.

S-max & Spatial - Ms. Rosen Dub / Corti

The second serving from Schmorgasbord brings together two relatively disparate and unrelated artists, but who both share a uniquely twisted approach to making music. S-Max has been doing his thing for some time, running legendary home all things bizarre in house and techno, Boogizm, and releasing a special kind of groove on labels such as Telegraph, 7th City and Karloff. His original track, 'Ms. Rosen Dub', swaggers and sways with the spirit of classic Yorkshire bleeps and bass. The groove is house, but the spirit of adventure is most definitely techno. His remix of Spatial's 'Corti' takes a very different approach, taking a rolling, jungle-like approach to dubstep and nailing it to the groove with stabbing bass notes. Spatial leapt onto the bass music radar late 2008 with his shadowy Infrasonics imprint, and quickly snapped heads with his crisp, refined approach to 2-step rhythms. Since then he's done things on his own terms, only releasing for himself and mutating his sound over a series of 10's. 'Corti' perfectly demonstrates Spatials unconventional tendencies, lurching and buckling around a perfectly honed splatter of beats, off-centre synths and delirious vocal snippets. Meanwhile on his remix of S-Max, Spatial flips the script once again with a stomping, swung techno angle that hammers the original into an uptempo, fist-pumping banger.

The Junto Club - Shiviana

After two well received releases on Optimo The Junto Club return with their debut EP on brand new label Snap, Crackle & Pop, born of the London club night of the same name. The A side features two slices of dance floor ready post punk from the Glasgow four piece, throwing references from everything from Suicide to Weatherall. On the B-side Khidja's remix teases out the disco groove before growing into a monstrous acid house inspired freakout in its second half, paving the way for the Ivan Smagghe & Cross version which delves even further into acidy motoronic beats.

31.05.2016

Other than thousands of hardened workers elbow to elbow, pounding sheets of metal, we're in a dead zone - an imaginary sphere extending miles in every direction, devoid of life. Volume and vibration drove away all that could sense it, with the remainder of the food chain following.

In municipal work yards thousands of men and women (panel beaters in this case) are pegged out in a grid, each allocated a 120cm square. Amenities amount to uncovered channels from each work station, feeding into larger channels which facilitate the exodus of waste, like an irrigation system in reverse. However a lone figures' tributary remains unblemished. Yard Elders claim he hasn't relinquished solid nor liquid, neither eaten, slept, or spake a single word since his presence permeated sector eight. Preposterous this claim undoubtedly is, it was only talk of his strike rate climbing to nine hits per second that pushed the Elders' credibility beyond repair.

At work in his booth, this man's worn, nub-like hammers thrash away as though their true destiny lay a foot beneath the steel. It is his rhythm alone that welcomes the dawn, and continues on to exceed the standard work-day by God knows how long. The question being: what fuel then does this man-machine require to punctuate time's passing so relentlessly

Somewhere in the sprawl an inaction sparks a pause. Metal workers exponentially drop out of the industrial orchestra, stillness rippling outwards til the whole yard rests agape. The figure everybody now beholds bears aloft a mighty hammer that with the inevitability of death, comes arcing down while impoverished lungs screech into the air "CHANCELLOR!!!"

Klaus Schulze - Ballett 1 & 2 Bonus Edition
  • 01: Atmosphère Concrete
  • 02: Kagi's Lament
  • 03: Wolf's Ponticelli
  • 04: The Smile Of Shadows
  • 05: Trance 4 Motion

Wolfgang Tiepold, seit 1978 Schulzes "Haus-Cellist".

Mythologen - Mythologen

Alexander Palmestal was fifty procent of the electro duo Pistol Disco - a band that during the 00's bustled around in the music scene of Gothenburg and became known for having a certain sound and for their unpredictable and often magical live shows. The later incarnation of the band took a step away from the German 70's influences to move towards a more club friendly universe. In 2015 the band released the 7inch 'Goo/Pool' on Hoga Nord Rekords which was their last release and now Palmestal, under the name Mythologen, make a release on Hoga Nord Rekords.
Mythologen continues building on the foundations that Pistol Disco and Palmestal's other band Iberia was made upon. The songs on this album named 'Mythologen' is the perfect combination of the fragility and melancholy of Iberia and Pistol Disco's monotony and drive. Underneath layers of dreamy, free floating synthesizers and restrained yet steady drumbeats lies muffled melodies waiting for the air to be let in. And then, all of a sudden the clouds disappear and the sunlight is beaming down over the music, like on the closing track 'Brighter Summer Day'. In other songs on the album the darkness is more present, embodied by polyrhythmic tribal drums giving the music weight and suggestion.
'Mythologen' is the soundtrack for recovering from a depression. The album seduces the whole spectrum of your moodswings, eliminates your ego and moves your focus from the past to the future.

Here are no edges only night. The same dream again and again just a little bit different. In the future everything will be the present. No distance and no edges only light years. Large silver clouds inside the eyelids, glittering and electric because of the black space. Planets like eyeshine, things hide in the dark. Listen for what you can't see.

17.03.2016

We warmly welcome back Kettel who makes his return to Clone/DUB records since his debut Cenny Crush 15 years ago (which was followed by the brilliant Whisper Me Wishes in 2007). After a hiatus of 3 years since his last release Kettel is releasing his new album on Clone Records. The talented musician has been busy with producing music for computer games and commercials, but is now offering a fine selection of pieces he has made in the last couple years with this full length in mind. The result is a playful, inspiring, eclectic, delicate, melodic, well-balanced and brilliantly produced album fuzzing elements of electronica, classical music, jazz and techno stirred into flawless, memorable compositions. As a 90's kid Kettel has always been inspired by the early electronica pioneers (whose names don't even need to be mentioned... everyone knows who we're talking about right), and on this album too you can hear some of the aesthetics of those late 90's productions, but adopted into Kettel's unique world of confident rhythms and melodies filled with expression. The music on this record has a lyrical quality to it and is so expertly written that it does not strictly depend on it's electronical environment: these compositions would still stand firm performed on whatever combination of instruments. Another lovely and magical release by Kettel thats spreading good vibes from the first to the last second!

Spygeist - 7 Rooms

* "7 Rooms" is an album that was born in the rooms of an house accompanied only by the moonlight and the union of spirit, mind and heart, which give rise to a succession of compositions by jazz nuances, neo-melodic and electro-acoustic. All this is part of an intent that little strives to bring the listener in scattered places of imagination, giving freedom of movement within their musical journey. "Hanged" electro-acoustic song by low and soft lines are linked with the mystical sound of drum, played strictly by hand. "Detonica" is a piece where rhythm of past ages are transformed into a sinuous ballad, punctuated by the crescendo of a plot that thickens as it scrolls with the inclusion of classical and electronic instruments. The fullness of this passage is immediate transportation. "Confidential Love" A song by the fresh air like a late spring afternoon, which mixes acoustic and electronic instruments for a nice chemistry between melody and absence of rhythm.

* "WoolCover", the embrace of a love of neighbor, love love, narrow; the love that you have next, love you breathe, love unfiltered, the love that homogeneous thoughts and feelings of the listener. (Voice by Anna Fabri). In "Malinchonica" sounds and melodies are more gloomy structured. "Light Pipe", a leap in a purely electronic piece with broken rhythms but softened by melodies. "Velocity" sounds scratchy, high-speed, characterized by the Drum 'n' Bass sound. A project created by the "observation" of the schizophrenic society.

Loscil - Monument Builders

Monument Builders is the new album from Loscil, the ambient/electronic project of prolific composer Scott Morgan.

It was primarily created on sample-based instruments in Morgan's century-
old Vancouver home. Like that aged space, this music is also rough-hewn, with rickety samples of boiling kettles and resonant moving air. Recordings from a vintage micro-cassette recorder contribute distortion, rattles and textures that serve as both percussion and abstract aural color.

According to Morgan, the genesis for the album may have begun as he viewed an old VHS copy of the American experimental film Koyaanisqatsi . 'Something about the time-tarnished visuals and the pitch warble on Philip Glass's epic score added a new layer of intrigue for me,' says Morgan.

'Glass has always been an influence but lo-fi Glass felt like a minor revelation, as if the decay was actually enhancing the impact of the film's message.'The investigations on
Monument Builders also took inspiration from the anti-humanist writings of influential philosopher John Gray, as well as photographer Edward Burtynsky's iconic aerial
photographs of pollution and environmental destruction. 'Gray's writing, particularly his book Straw Dogs: Thoughts on Humans and Other Animals , reinforced a bleak notion I had that we humans don't have much say in how it all turns out,' says Morgan. 'With Burtynsky, I was struck by the fact that something so strikingly beautiful could be the result of large-scale waste and exploitation.'

Monument Builderswas composed during a period in which the life-and-death battles of close friends and family forced Morgan to examine his own feelings on mortality. In the course of that introspection, Morgan found himself buoyed by a feeling of celebration and a stubborn sense of survival - an acknowledgement of what it means to be able to breathe and create amidst the clash of love and chaos. Ultimately, Morgan hopes the music here can offer listeners solace while leaving room for exploration and surprise.

press quotes for previous album Sea Island:
'It's a brilliant piece of work in its own right and continues to see Morgan peerless and at the very top of his game.' The Quietus

'It's headphone music for sure, optimally experienced on a slow train with a glass roof so the record's atmospheric elements can aptly complement the passing stars.' Exclaim!

Organic Analogue
27.12.2016

Following the wealth of techno, electro and jungle on DJ Guy's Structures & Rhythms '94-'99, Organic Analogue turn to cult champion MNLTH for a fulsome six-track EP.Dave Monolith has been busy under a variety of aliases since first releasing his Volume 1 EP on Rephlex Records. He went on to drop the fantastic Welcome album on the Cornish institution before further quality electronic explorations on WeMe, CPU, not to mention the fig.03 and fig.04 EPs on his own Photodementia label.
MNLTH comes to Organic Analogue with a singular selection of tracks that completely encapsulate his sound in all its warmth and weirdness. This is unsettling electro done the British way, nodding to the electronica tradition but equally channeling a rave spirit throughout. In that sense, it speaks to the core principles of OA perfectly."111Pad" is a laid-back machine jam of dirty drums, bass and piano stabs, while "Q Express" raises the temperature with a surge of unnerving pads and heavy analogue drums. "Zirberterai" meanwhile takes shape as a darkside roller peppered with crusty, flitting vocal sampling.
"Fline" showcases all the deftness and subtlety in the MNLTH arsenal with a limber arrangement that pivots around pulsing square waves and delicately simmering beats. "Polynana" reaches skywards in a celebration of after-hours electro with an ambiguous mood that lies just beyond your comprehension. Finally "Meadow" rounds the EP off by evoking all the idealism of the quintessential outdoor rave in a cascade of kicks and piano chords.Having originally surfaced as clips through an obscure YouTube account, the tracks on Laser80 were already garnering the attention of more switched on techno fans in niche corners of the internet. Now, with this official release on OA, the dynamic blend of techno futurism, rave energy and hi-tech soul gets the airing it deserves.Very limited pressing so be sure to grab the Laser80 while you still can.
