Joachim Nordwall - The Message Is Very Simple

The message is very simple; think for yourself and question authority', so says Timothy Leary in the looped intro to Joachim Nordwall's follow-up to The Power of Repetition and two volumes of Soul Music for Entr'acte.

The iDEAL ringleader is at his quietest and most contemplative here, firstly offering Leary's looped mantra before opening out into starkly minimal space ambient drone space where we're implicitly encouraged to meditate on that message amid the rustle and hum of vintage oscillators and haptic scuffs.

Some half way into the piece those etheric drones begin to coagulate into a glowing aurora which glacially descends into rumbling lower registers and returning almost like a palindrome to Leary's mantra, which reinforces the piece's effect, and possibly implies a positive point of resolution on the horizon if only you hold your line.

As with pretty much everything Nordwall touches, this one comes highly recommended!

Keith Hudson - Pick A Dub (expanded 2lp/original Artwork Edition)

"The greatest dub album ever" (Jon Savage: author of England's Dreaming) / "Essential" (Steve Barrow & Peter Dalton: Rough Guide To Reggae). "Pick A Dub" showcased the enduring strength and pivotal importance of the rhythm to the development of reggae music. Keith Hudson's complete mastery of the genre and the unqualified praise that followed its release was fully justified. The album's 'austere sonic qualities' are awe inspiring, the superb rhythms are given full rein, unencumbered by extra effects and studio trickery. The overall effect is as mesmerising now as it was over forty years ago. The CD comes in a digipak with additional 12-page booklet and contains as extra tracks eight vocal cuts of the featured dubs including two previously unreleased tracks. As well the 2LP-set is extended to 20 tracks, the original album on side A and B, side C and D have the extra tracks of vocal cuts of the dubs including two previously unreleased ones.

Music For Dreams continue their high profile string of releases with this double album of dark pop brilliance from Danish newcomers Silent Riders. Apart from their names - Lu, Gee and C - little is known about this mysterious trio who wear masks during live performances. Emerging from some unknown murky world, materialising from the shadows in the woods, they have created a mythical sphere accessible only through their music - a vision of electronica that is organic and alive with both warmth and danger. Led by the sultry voice of Lu, we are drawn into the dark imaginings of the Silent Riders with almost cinematic brilliance as Gee and C man the machines that weave the atmospheric dronings of their world - a world that could be easily mistaken for one created by David Lynch or Tim Burton. The rhythms that form the path to this domain remind us along the way of previous travellers such as Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire or Tolouse Lowtrax. With the opening track "I See You", Silent Riders offer up a brilliant pop diamond combining all elements of their distinctive sound palette. Lu's soulful voice bounces off almost funky drum machines, all drenched in layers of dark analog ambience. On the lush "Copenhagen Dream", Lu channels a sense of brit-pop nonchalance into a political song about the state of her city. In contrast, "Being Afraid" sees the band in their hardest grittiest mode - with Lu reminiscent of PJ Harvey at her most moody and the slow groove behind her like a factory machine beating and releasing steam.  Other highlights include the chilling "Static" and the ethereal beauty of closing track "Falling" which sees the Riders in their most relaxed and dreamy state, and echoes the works of Portishead and Massive Attack. A stunning debut - limited vinyl release - don't miss.

Typhonian Highlife - The World Of Shells

TyphOnian Highlife is the new moniker of Spencer Clark. Clark is the ultimate shape shifter, a trickster continuously mutating from a sci-fi hero, into a mystic guru or into a speculative
visionary. As Typhonian Highlife he assimilates juxtapositions of the natural world and fantastic technology to reanimate the manieristic tradition. His compositions envision possible futures and speculative pasts. They imagine a new vision upon mankind, as a mythical underwater creature who creates meaning through a prosaic mysticism.

His latest record, "The World Of Shells" works as an dream expedition that has overflowed itself into real time. Through continual material-world visualization a technological nature music unfolds as series of movements outlining the existence of Mythological African creature. Travelling through Hollywood, Hanging Rock, Australia, and The Ear of Dionysus in Sicily the creature was placed, and has enacted a music and art form that explores a sci-fi aquatic and wind-blown desert fusion to uncover the life and wanderings of this non-material being.

Valerio Tricoli - Clonic Earth

The experimental Italian composer returns to PAN with a new LP, titled 'Clonic Earth'. His ongoing output for the label has long-presented his lectroacoustic sound compositions where since the mid-'00s, he has utilized analogue live sampling and real-time editing of field and studio recordings by means of manipulation of 1/4 inch tape.
The new record, 'Clonic Earth' is a perturbing, compelling and mind-expanding work, marked by compositional strategies of exploded narratives, psychological insight and oracular literary references where questions about the boundaries of spatial perception in the decoding processes of acousmatic music are overturned into existential, metaphysical questions.
The record is described by its author as a natural consequence of the internal collapse depicted in his previous record, 'Miseri Lares': As if all the debris left inside my loudspeakers have been ignited to expand into the ether, to find a justification at the principle of Chaos, or Cosmos alike.
This movement is expressed by references to the theme of fire as original matter in the Chaldean Oracles which, together with the later work of Philip K. Dick, are the main sources for the vocal/text elements of the composition. Fire, intended as the convulsive principle of existence, but also an ontologically terminal element - hence a representation of the infinite decay and a mean of communication with the otherworldly - serves the author a metaphor for the acousmatic listening experience itself: a borderline perception of sounds eternally fixed in their spasmodic disappearance, which could eventually drag us into a different layer of reality, drastically changing, subverting, or expanding the space in which they are diffused.
A ritual, somehow, which may link the listener and the perceptive space that he inhabits with whatever lies beyond the loudspeakers, beyond the vibrating surface of the world.

POP AMBIENT - our longest-running compilation series after Total - sees a new instalment for 2017, featuring exclusive material from acclaimed genre veterans and series newcomers JENS-UWE BEYER, YUI ONODERA & SCANNER, MAX WÜRDEN, LEANDRO FRESCO, THORE PFEIFFER, KENNETH JAMES GIBSON and SOULSAVERS remixed by WOLFGANG VOIGT.
Following his own cues from preceding entries, Pop Ambient chief curator Voigt again strikes a perfect ratio of established producers and debuting guests: our complete Pop Ambient solo album crew makes an appearance, from JENS-UWE BEYERs atmospheric soundscapes on the tracks FINAL 9.1 and FINAL 10, to THORE PFEIFFERs glitch romance GOOD LIFE, LEANDRO FRESCOs beatific drone fests SONIDO ESPAÑOL and EL ABISMO, as well as KENNETH JAMES GIBSONs melancholic epic HER FLOOD KNOCKED ME TO THE GROUND (BUT I WAS ALREADY THERE. Other returning artists include ANTON KUBIKOV of SCSI-9 fame (with electronic reverie DEKKA) and Cologne soundsmith MAX WÜRDEN, who was last seen releasing wonderfully immersive albums on BineMusic and Wolfgang Voigt's very own Exponate series. His guitar-infused, dubbed-out cut FERNFELD and the mysterious electronic mantra 186.000 MILES PER SECOND are particularly striking renditions of the rich sonic narratives possible in Pop Ambient.
For the 2017 release, we welcome Tokyo-based Pop Ambient novice YUI ONODERA with his tracks CROMO1 and CROMO2, which both serve as opener: a trained musician and architectural acoustic designer by trade, Onodera embeds diverse influences from traditional sound design, film scores, contemporary composition and electro-acoustic experimentation in his work, resulting in intricate drone sculptures and sound skylines. This skill set gels naturally with the sonic sensibilities of iconic experimental composer SCANNER who teams up with Onodera for the cut LOCUS SOLUS - it's an incredible honour to have such a towering figure in advanced electronic music on board. Wolfgang Voigt himself makes an appearance as remixer, turning the track HAL from electronic-rock-gospel duo SOULSAVERS' 2015 album "Kubrick" into a voluptuous and immersive sound journey. It's the cherry on top of a particularly fluffy cake that will prove irresistible to any connoisseur of ambient music.

Akov Remix Billain - Twisted / Mantra (billain Remix)

Bristol meets Belgium as AKOV returns to Mindtech Recordings to showcase his heavyweight sound on the label's latest 12" vinyl release!
A-side 'Twisted' opens with a heavy halftime drum line and the unmistakeable vocals of rising MC YDott, building into a heavy neuro drop of modulated bass and rolling drums.
An understated but rhythmic musical hook punctuates the beats and bass nicely on a track that fuses hip-hop and D&B for maximum impact.
On the flipside, AKOV's 2015 Mindtech smash 'Mantra' gets the remix treatment from the Bosnian badman himself, Billain! Smashing up the original with some serious bassline scuzz and an onslaught of gut punching percussive heft, this is a sure-fire dancefloor weapon from one of the best producers in the scene.
As if all that wasn't enough, AKOV serves up a digital bonus track in the form of 'Tesla'. Cinematic synths and dramatic dialogue build tension on the intro before the track drops into a hyper-kinetic bass groove just brimming with swagger. This ode to scientific experimentation is as electrifying as it's namesake!

Once again Mindtech are on the pulse with three slices of forward-thinking, futuristic D&B. Best enjoyed loud!

Slinkily slippery and hard-to-pin-down as usual, but rooted in funk and soul connoisseurship.

Two-sided this time — boozier, dizzier and more spaced-out on the flip, smudged with echo and effects, and scraps of horns and singing.

Repeated Viewing - The Three Sisters Ost

WeMe and Wil-Ru Records team up to bring you a limited edition vinyl release of Repeated Viewing's (Glasgow native Alan Sinclair) first original film music score for Irish director Daire McNab's modern day neo-giallo murder mystery movie: The Three Sisters. Both the film and the soundtrack are inspired by the golden age of Italian horror cinema, the Giallo genre, which has been making a savage comeback in recent years in both music and movie making. Laden with heavy guitars riffs, stabbing synthesizers, oppressive beats and ominous atmospheres, The Three Sisters score maintains a purist aesthetic, remaining true to the sounds of the original horror scores of the 70s and 80s. The results are a fresh, modern take on a classic sound in the spirit of the original horror film scores perfected by musicians such as Goblin, Fabio Frizzi, Libra, Stevio Cipriani, Carlo Maria Cordio and John Carpenter. This ten track LP is limited to 300 copies and features original cover art by Eric Adrian Lee.

Jim Haynes - Throttle And Calibration

In 2015, Jim Haynes accepted a residency at MoKS in the village of Mooste, Estonia to collaborate and contribute to Simon Whetham's Active Crossover series. For this particular incarnation of Active Crossover, well over a dozen international artists were invited to this region of Estonia to collect field recordings and engage in a cross-pollination of ideas, strategies, and concepts that spawned from those recordings. The refuse from Soviet-era industrial farming complexes, the droned blur of aeolian harps, massive oil tanks, and the torrent of noise from the Arctic wind ripping through an empty water tower -- these were some of the sites that this chapter of Active Crossover archived, with each participant encouraged to trawl through the archives in use of composition, performance, installation, etc.

Throttle and Calibration is the first in a series of albums that find Haynes digging through the Active Crossover archive and grotesquely exaggerating the details into exploded compositions of volatile dynamics, nerve-exposed dissonance, caustic shortwave signal abuse, and a considerable amount of scarred metal. Marked as one of the more discordant works to date in Haynes' career, Throttle and Calibration finds company near the Schimpfluch Gruppe's aktionist stains and the sour collages of 150 Murderous Passions (aka Nurse With Wound & Whitehouse).

Previously released digitally on Crónica, Throttle and Calibration is fleshed out with an additional 20 minutes of material. Haynes is a Bay Area artist, conducting research into the corrosion of sound, photography, and video. Previous recordings have been published by Editions Mego, Ghostly International, Intransitive, Hooker Vision, Elevator Bath, and the Helen Scarsdale Agency amongst others.

When Spacemen 3 - the seminal, drone-indulgent English psych duo comprised of Peter Kember and Jason Pierce - split in 1991, Pierce shuffled off to acclaim in Spiritualized. Meanwhile, Kember charted a less predictable course. As Sonic Boom, he released Spectrum in 1990, then, after taking a liking to that handle, released Soul Kill (Glide Divide) as Spectrum in 1992. Kemper alternated between those monikers and Experimental Audio Research (E.A.R.) throughout the 1990s, building a rich, probing catalog of synth and electronic explorations of which 1997's Forever Alien is an undeniable highpoint.

With theremin, vocoder, and an array of modular analog synthesizers (depicted lovingly in the cover art) Kemper, along with Alf Hardy and Pete Bassman, fused cosmische abstraction and the pulsation of minimalist composition to more traditional psych elements epitomized by early Pink Floyd. Landing between the unfettered experiments of E.A.R. and Spacemen 3's songcraft ( How Does it Feel' is scarily reimagined), Kemper crafts unnerving atmosphere on the title track and an enduring catalog high point on the consummate opener, Feels Like I'm Slipping Away.' Forever Alien leaves no doubts about the reasons for Kemper's sought-after production today (he played a vital role for Animal Collective and sculpted Panda Bear's most recent album) - nor the essential status of his post-Spacemen 3 output.

These are ambiences from Australian landscapes, recorded by Spencer Clark (Monopoly Child Star Searchers, Typhonian Highlife, The Skaters, et al). Forced by undersigned into the genus of the field recordist. Natural sounds are mirrored to a world of fabricated aquarium music. Where lorikeets and ocean waves serve as a counterpoint for beautiful, light background airs. The recorder cunningly observes a building where the tourist forages, and fascinates the sounds of lands that are forever spiritual to the native. Captured on handheld cassette recorder as both being a study, and a recorded keepsake. Resulting in a document that is a particular addition to Clark's catalogue, where the sacred, the mirth and the mundane forever morph.

Recorded in 2006 and shelved until today -All Over Thereorbits the outer leftfield regions of known hip-hop galaxies. MC A's double, triple, quadruple tracked vocals are thrown around the mic like a nipponDanny Brownriding Aquadab's "Jan JelinekmeetsTimbaland" productions (his words).

Composed and resampled entirely on MPC 1000 and Kaoss pad - Aquadab claims most tracks were made in sub-2 hour improvised sessions. MC A's vox exist to us only as texture and punctuation -we're assured the lyrics are too abstract to translate(English titles have been provided for iTunes purposes).

The results are as unique as the artists involved are generally unknown. Aquadab has scored a lone remix on Japanese imprintAun Muteand MC A can be found on a few tracks by local hip-hop acts likeDJ Motive. Aquadab lives in Osaka - home to Bokeh alumni DJ Ground and Kabamix. MC A hails from Gifu, widely known as the home of Japan's master cormorant fishermen.

BKV008 is the final release from Bokeh Versions' first year of operations. 6 releases are confirmed for 2017: one cosmic dub reissue LP, one streetwear meets library tracks hookup, one 90s steppas remix 12", one Japanese exotica 7", one future roots dancefloor set and the next genesis of glacial dancehall.

We've spent years now going through the analog tapes from the cv313 project archives and we're excited to have the long sold out, "Dimensional Space" (LP Edition) from cv313 finally available on CD. We had to pay tribute to the brilliant artwork from Lindsay Todd @ Firecracker/House Of Traps and the superbly mastered recordings from Bazza @ Alchemy Mastering, London. This edition features selected content from the LP set and unreleased versions of, "Isis", a killer new cut from the "Beyond The Clouds" sessions titled, "Beyond Dreams", this edition also features 2 unreleased cuts which were scheduled to come out on the LP edition of the album but were omitted due to budgetary concerns, never to be heard - until now. This might be the soundtrack to the other side of the galaxy, a place where space meets bass. Epic in every sense of the word!

Ghédalia Tazarès, Pawel Romanczuk, Andrzej Zaleski - Carp's Head

The newest record produced by the group of three - Ghedalia Tazartes, Pawel Romanczuk, and Andrzej Zaleski - is the result of only a few meet ups and a shared passion for music that shapes their perspective. The long play was recorded at the Rogalów Analogowy studio in the eastern part of Poland. It's worth noting that the space and surrounding countryside did not influence the sound itself as the record drifts away from the traditions of chamber music.

The musicians, together as well as separately, avoid any mainstream influences. Thus, the acoustic record is peaceful, spiritual and presents a wide variety of notions and emotions. The diversified vocal articulation and tone of Tazartes intertwines well with Zaleski's percussive play and Romanczuk's multi-instrumental skills. The rhythmic pulsation is constantly taking new directions, eventually turning into noise at some point. The voice, somehow dramatic, traps the listeners and sends them on a journey through non-existent quasi-stories. Here we are, facing an elusive romantic magician personified by a carp-headed cat.

French cult artist Ghédalia Tazartès is an uncompromising character who defies categorization. He recorded alone a dozen of albums, calling his way of working Impromuz' for lack of a better term. Before the years 2000s, his public appearances remained exceptional events. Ghédalia Tazartès' music has always been a mystery. It switches from musique concrète to - existing or invented - ethnic music, from poetry to noise, or from loops and collages to sad and extremely beautiful tunes in a second, but it constantly is in flux and coherent.
In 2004, Ghedalia finally decided to do live performances again. He first worked with other musicians (Les Reines d'Angleterre, David Fenech & Jac Berrocal, Norscq & Black Sifichi, Nicolas Lelièvre) and is now a solo performing artist (although his very young son sometimes joins him on stage!).
Since 2009 Tazartes played many shows across Europe. After performing a cinemix to the strange Haxan' film in 2008, he presented in February 2013 a new solo show at CTM in Berlin Festival to a packed HAU2. The new show is based around the music of Tazartes' lattest album 'Coda Lunga.' Says Tazartes: 'I thought I had only played for 5 minutes in Berlin... then I realised I had been going on for more than one hour!'

Pawel Romanczuk - musician, composer. Since 2006, he works within the field of unusual sounds sources. Romanczuk is a founder of the Polish artistic group Male Instrumenty with whom he recorded 10 albums. He composed several film soundtracks and collaborated with significant theatre houses. He's also famous for the various instruments, sound and audio installations he builds on his own.
In 2010, he published the first study on the history of the instrument toy piano.
In 2013, he wrote the book "Domowe eksperymenty z instrumentami muzycznymi" that was published together with his band's album Samorobka'. The publication became a guide to the process of creating hand-made and experimental musical instruments. He collaborated with Pierre Bastien, Margaret Leng Tan, Piotr Kurek, Nao Nishihara, Ksiezyc and Za Siódma Góra, Cezary Duchnowski, Andrzej Bauer.
He conducts workshops, lectures and develops exhibitions on the role of instruments and sound experiments. His music collaboration with Andrzej Zaleski and Ghedalia Tazartes started back in 2014, however, he was familiar with their music for quite a time.

He also played in bands like: Multicide, Mitch and Mitch, 3 Metry, Za Siódma Góra.
Cofounder of the theater group Komuna Otwock, collaborated with the Gardzienice Theater and Akademia Ruchu Theater.
Filmmaker ( The nature documentary series for Animal Planet and TVP2 ), experimental films.
Since 1993 he works as music curator of the Program Strefa', at the Center for Contemporary Art, Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw.

Drawing inspiration equally from emerging post-human theories and the surreal collage culture of underground circles, GIL's deft compositions conjure a multitude of somatic convulsions that transcends not just genre but the club environment itself. In keeping with Danse Noire's preceding releases, GIL invites interpretations of 'Onset' by global-minded producers J. G. Biberkopf (Knives) and Imaabs (NAAFI).

* It should come as no surprise that the Berlin-based producer's background includes training in modern dance, entering club circles while studying composition in Bern. 'Orchids & Wasps' begins as a statement of intent, laying down the gauntlet to the dancefloor but concludes as a fine example of chaos and harmony fighting over the same territory. As soon as rhythms settle they fall under their own weight; club music tropes gasp for air amongst the rubble of rapid-fire percussion; sampled melodies are chewed up and spat out in a vortex of tempo changes. The onslaught of body shocks
delivered by GIL becomes so intense that immediacy and timelessness become one, subsuming the listener into an abyss of swarming fevers.

Johann Malfatti is a composer and sound designer based in Berlin. He composes music for film & theatre as well as art projects. Over the years he has contributed to numerous music releases ranging from electronic music, noise to chamber pop on labels such as Deco, Klangkrieg, Fat Cat Records, Planet Mu, WMF Records, Subrosa and Polydor. Most notably, he is part of Ensemble (Fat Cat Records) that has collaborated with Björk, The Twighlight Sad and Cat Power. In his solo work he composes for solo piano, drawing inspiration from computer-based processes like granular synthesis and time stretching algorithms.

Surge (Glacial Movements) marks his first solo release and is an ambient album of sonic landscapes dealing with the perception of time.

Surge was written in the winter of 02016 in the Austrian alps. The music is based on textural developments that evolve very slowly over time. The composition tries to evoke a sensation of experiencing a slower, deeper layer of time. It draws inspiration from concepts like geological time and pace layers, that describe the idea of different scales of time. Most processes in nature are too slow to be perceived by the human senses. We merely experience the ripples on the surface, like the passing of hours, days, of changing weather or trends in fashion. The all underlying stream of geological change, like the flow of glaciers or the drifting of continents, is outside our field of experience. However, some events bring these streams closer to the surface. In a glacial surge, the flow velocity of a glacier suddenly increases up to tens of meters per day, making the otherwise imperceptibly slow movement tangible. As in earthquakes, the geological dimension of the process at hand is transposed into the realm of human experience. In that same sense the composition acts as a window into the vastness beyond it's sonic surface. The music has the viscosity of a slowly moving mass of ice. Like a glacier, that contains thousands of layers of snow, the vertical structures of the sonic layers are infinitely complex and ever changing. From minimal textures of white noise grow massive swells of sound. From floating fields of color rise mirages of melodies. Inspired by the music of Morton Feldman, John Cage, John Luther Adams and Radu Malfatti, Surge is an abstract state of non-time and non-space in which the listener is kept suspended in a sonic haze. The music stays intangible and abstract, yet vidid and full of details. Static, yet transient. It is neither now nor past nor future.

Following on from 2014's 'Hantasive' LP on Opal Tapes, Kaumwald have returned with a new suite of totally bugged out improv techno and electroacoustic burn out's entitled "Rapa Nui Clan"... They're a hard act to define, unifying the tabletop thrift attack of AMM or early Wolf Eyes against bold modular driven beats rich with crust. The albums title and tracks speak toward a sense of new discovery, voyaging and exploring. The duo's machines interlace this time with more pronounced vocals often rendered in absurd pitches or drawn out into oblivious texture. Tracks like 'Leil' and 'Minorque' request you to strap in as almost painful sound is slapped down over chunky 4/4. Opener 'Ortolan' and closer 'Albert Le Thouet' are lighter and more playful but overall it's a heavier and much denser affair than previous outings and all the better for it. As with any voyage there is a wealth of information to process, this is the sound of information frying in the pan as the ship readjusts it's course.

Stealth - Homage (back To You) Feat. Stylus / Smash It

Staying true to his name, Stealth has craftily taken centre stage. Every record he's released oozing with sophistication has repeatedly stolen the spotlight. And this next one is no exception.The production connoisseur yet again goes for the aural jugular, using ProgRAM as a launch pad. Stealth demonstrates the imprint's forward thinking movements and command of a genre which often goes unmatched. The relationship has been harmonious; alongside ProgRAM, he's already made a crater sized impact within the dnb community... And it's not difficult to see why. 'Homage' leads in a tightly fashioned intensity. Dark, brooding and with plucky percussion, it's a tribute to the sound Dillinja mastered. An instantly recognisable vocal sample is filtered through the record's menace, meandering perfectly between the bassline's thumps which eventually drop us into LFO-lead chaos. Piece by piece the main melody begins to build, throbbing until it completely over-takes the record's more humanistic elements. Audibly stocky, yet with a dimension that rings true of Stealth's icy production, it's a relentless roller with a nasty bite. Next up, 'Smash It' still holds onto the merciless setting of its predecessor, but also offers something completely different. With a bristling rhythm that steps its way into a haunting crescendo, Stealth uses this break to highlight the track's imposing detail; it trickles, floods and then the dam breaks due to the build up's audible weight. Progressing deeper into the mix, the track is underpinned by quaking sub bass. Following on from 2015's praised "Foray" LP, berlin-based SUBHEIM releases his new "Trails" EP on Denovali Records. As with any Subheim release, it is important to consider your frame of mind when listening to his music. "Trails" takes the listener on a very personal journey with intent, riding upon an undercurrent of impending necessity. There is simplicity in its design, though the further you delve the more complex it becomes.

"Trails" opens with the sounds of slow-building, wavering and breathy strings. Soon you, the subject to this music, are guided onwards with the support of confident tribal drums, haunting vocals, otherworldly metallic sounds and muted guitars that ring across the plains.

Having arrived at a place of calm, we are next transported in an altogether more sinister direction through the soundscape of Ego. Desert winds and affected vocal samples provide the backdrop for disconcerting harmonies and long sustains, and through the expectant ticking of a regular clock-like beat we are reminded that we have only made it part-way along our journey.

Forsaken Pt.II is an altogether more minimal territory to inhabit. With the instantly recognisable return of its guitar melody and a lilting, dry kick there is, at first, less sense of urgency as we sift through the murkiness of this familiar territory. And so it makes way for John Lemke's remix of Trails. With a subtle yet noticeable increase in tempo and set to an irregular yet constant techno kick, it wears a furrowed brow, pushing itself forward with confidence and conviction.

UnicaZürn (David Knight and Stephen Thrower). UnicaZürn build their long, ceaselessly evolving musical compositions through a process of improvisation followed by careful editing and processing. Their music, drawn from subconscious associations while recording, is frequently aquatic or oceanic in overall mood and texture. Knight has spent most of his life living on the banks of the Thames while Thrower resides on the East Sussex coast, and their musical flights of imagination tend toward rolling river dynamics and the open seas of synthesised sound. For UnicaZürn, tidal imagery, oceanic forms and the slow rhythms of coastal water are a recurring structural presence, with strong associations of rootlessness, of being far away from home, a stranger in a strange land. The inability of human lungs to breathe water endows rivers and seas with a special poetics: a boundary between two different but inter-related states. On the one hand, solidity, clarity, definition, on the other, fluidity, uncertainty, dissolution. The sense of a threshold between opposites gives rise to an elusive otherness, suggesting a portal through which the everyday world can be escaped. Death under the water, the survivors of a lost kingdom clinging to the rocks of an unfamiliar island, a coastal boat ride into deepest abstraction, a deserted beach expressing a world outside reality. A sexual frisson too: a hovering at the brink, poised at the turbulent edge of pleasure, swept away into oblivion. Do we head toward the sea when we want to escape And at the coastline, do we walk to the edge because we want to jump, or be swept away by an unexpected wave There's a darkness in the sea, even if illuminated by the most dazzling sunshine. Open horizons shows the clutter of our lives to be transient, and as we look to the sea we feel a dizzying sense of the eternal. Aquatic sensibility, oceanic timescales: the action of the salt sea beating on the shore. Each grain of sand a rock smashed to dust. Beaches are cosmic, elemental. They are images of time. UnicaZürn's core instrumentation blends analogue synthesiser, mellotron and electric piano with electric guitar and clarinet. Both Thrower and Knight draw upon their love and wide experience of of electronic music, from the outer shores of Stockhausen to the outer spaceways of Tangerine Dream. In addition, Knight is reknowned for his pioneering multi-textured fretwork with Danielle Dax and his ambient guitar settings for Lydia Lunch, while Thrower's reed playing provided a distinctive melancholy in Coil and emerged as electro-acoustic texture in Cyclobe. The title "Pale Salt Seam" is drawn from the poem "Night-Song of the Andalusian Sailors" by Federico García Lorca. Parts of "Pale Salt Seam" were recorded live at the Ironmongers Row Baths on 2nd March 2013.

"Eigenleben" was written and produced by Holger Flinsch & Martin Müller from March '05 till June '06 in Hochtaunus, Ohmgebirge and Humboldthain. After 10 years it is the first time available as limited clear marbled 180g vinyl.

Creating something selfexistent might be the most difficult part of doing arts - something that isn't just a rigid thing but an entity of itself. Our goal is to bear something upon our technical possibilities without involving any other entity's energy.

Our selfexistent entity should be made up of dead matter and brought to life by technical components which interact with their surrounding and make decisions based on observations which are being analyzed and torn through programs to calculate potential procedures. It should not be limited to its current level of experience. To remain state-of-the-art, apprehension and intelligence are indispensable capabilities our entity should be able to make use of.

The needed technology is basically built on coincidental scientific observations which have been analyzed, processed and at best industrialized. This only works on repetitive or - even better - repeatable processes, because otherwise an industrialization would make no sense. As a result nature is being squeezed into our own pattern of predictability.

But there is a fundamental problem: intelligence cannot be satisfied with predictability. Entities bound to programs are always waiting for known and already categorized input. They cannot handle yet unknown impressions or re-categorize them. Intelligence is beyond predictability - it deals with the unknown and tries to integrate it into the limited and predictable world, of which itself is - and will always be - part.

We have to ask ourself: will it ever be possible And is it worth it all

Cementing a stark reminder of noise music's subversive, contemplative power when given proper context, Deafening Chaos Serenity is about finding space for reflection at the eye of the storm, and about grasping the visceral sensation and metastasising madness of reality in all its overgrown, apocryphal ambiguity. It's about learning to work within in noise's wildly unpredictable parameters, rather than attempting to negate them.
Just as with this album's predecessor, Different Selves, and his work in The Sprawl trio with Mumdance and Logos, collaborative energy continues to generate some of Shapednoise's
strongest work across Deafening Chaos Serenity, from the fundamental conceptual impetus supplied by Burton & Alessandri's manifesto, to the absorbingly visceral manner with which he puts it into effect.
In four of the five tracks, oppositional, if sympathetic forces generate the necessary friction needed to look beyond and suppose new forms, structures. In Motion & Depth or the bleached electro-acoustic structures of Delusional Path he dissolves the tension of Emanuele Porcinai's strings into a syntax of ecstatic physics, whilst the subatomic diffusion of Resistance to a Harmonious Vision with Roly Porter speaks to a experience of luscious sensory overload, and in Pulling at the Seams of Existence, the record's most tumultuous shredding out loud/quiet, violent/peaceful distinctions, he and Rabit embrace the discord of uncertainty with unflinching vision, almost like Turner tied to the mast and facing a stormy future head-on.

Ltd Vinyl Only release. With a vast new number of record labels surfacing during the ongoing resurgence of vinyl, it's now up to Green King Cuts to bring its own history in dub-minded bass music. The CEOs Jake Hennessy and Liam Conway, who grew up together, will do what's necessary to bring their values and those of their artists to a vinyl-only rundown - all for the love of sound-system music. The London born, Bristol based C-Side plays an important role in the first chapter of the label's future outline. He has been focusing on the aesthetics of dubstep for years and is known for his enthusiasm within the whole creative process. The sound he blazons has overtaken international waters and now it's time for his inaugural vinyl release. Its remixed by DEEP MEDi igniter Cessman, known for his anthemic collaboration with 'King' Kromestar called 'Kalawanji'. The bass veteran and front-man of the Dubliminal imprint never fails to deliver a quality remix treatment that forms an ode to uplifting dub music. 'Early Days Dub' pays homage to the golden era of dubstep, containing hits of dubwise elements, a ruff bassline and the all but vital amount of delay. C-side explores the foundation of the music by incorporating a beautiful alto saxophone sting from a close friend that fuels the nostalgic feeling of old-school dub. The London born, Bristol based artist uplifts a vibe that comes close to system sound. Cessman blurs the original dub version with a lot of wet reverb and an even weightier bassline. All present elements swirl around its foundation freely, giving the solid percussion and vocal sample the right place in time. There's no harm done when this built is played out loud in foggy basements. In fact it will bring forth the feeling of an old-school session purely for a skank & inner meditation.

Dedekind Cut - $uccessor

Over the last 12 months Lee Bannon's transition into Dedekind Cut has yielded some of the most curious, immersive electronic music from the USA. His transformation now appears to be complete with the strikingly spacious and absorbing ambient sound designs of $uccessor, the NYC-based artist's debut album in this guise.

It feels as though Bannon's previous releases, American Zen for Hospital Productions, and the scything torque of R&D with Rabit, were cleverly planned stepping stones into this brave new world, where he establishes a dream-like topography of diaphanous ambient pads pitted with the shrapnel of grime and trap, ultimately revealing a simulated, otherworldly environment deeply personal to the artist.

His amalgamation of layered ambient dimensions with haunting harmonic figures nods to early '90s AI and electronica from FSOL to Coil via the antecedent spheres of modern sci-fi and computer game soundtracks, whilst also existing in a history of North American computer music and noise that connects to the spirits of Prurient and Carl Stone.

We're parachuted in like an avatar in No Mans Sky to the lush levels of Descend From Now, streaking across the iced out sino-eski zones of Instinct to the heart-rending eight minutes of Conversations with Angels and the perpetually elusive rhythms of Fear In Reverse, before he reaches to more optimistic new age planes on the aching chamber figure, 46:50.

It's telling that the album is brought to you via two highly individual labels such as Non and Hospital Productions - this meeting of worlds provides a context for the music itself, making for an album that we'd recommend as much to those of you who have enjoyed recent outings by Chino Amobi, Rabit or Arca, as much as followers of Prurient or, indeed, Dominick Fernow's Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement project. It's easily one of the most absorbing, sometimes disturbing Ambient albums you'll hear in 2016.

Die Antwoord - Mount Ninji And Da Nice Time Kid (gatefold 2lp)

Als Die Antwoord vor rund zwei Jahren an den Arbeiten zum neuen Album begannen, war die Grundstimmung des Materials noch sehr roh, düster und tough. Die Band wollte das Album "Rats Rule" nennen, denn im Leben gäbe es nur Gewinner und Underdogs. Und für Die Antwoord fühle es sich so an, als seien sie noch ein Level unterhalb der Underdogs zu Hause "in this fucked up pop world". Aber die Südafrikaner seien sich sicher, dass ihre Zeit noch kommen werde. "And soon we gonna take over this whole bitch", so Ninja und Yo-Landi.Daraufhin schrieben Die Antwoord weitere Songs. Der Kern des Albums blieb düster und "ratty", aber die Band konnte eine neue Ebene hinzufügen. Eine Ebene, die eher wahnwitzig, sexy und sehr spaßig wirkte. Also wollten Die Antwoord das neue Werk in "We Have Candy" umbenennen. Dann, beim letzten Feinschliff, kam eine weitere Ebene hinzu: "A giant supernatural mega aura". Und plötzlich kam ihnen ihr neues Werk so episch vor. Manchmal verletzlich, manchmal süß und romantisch, mutig und voller Rätsel. Schließlich sagte Yo-Landi: "Why don't we call the album 'Mount Ninji And Da Nice Time Kid". Der Legende nach antwortete Ninja lediglich mit einem, "you a fuckin' genius! I love you!".

We're totally buzzed to present DJ Marfox's febrile retrospective Revolução 2005 - 2008 via the Boomkat Editions series.
Both a necessary document of Marlon Silva's early years and a crucial survey of Angolan kuduro's formative phase and mutation in the clubs of Lisbon, the set collects nine cuts
of contagious Afro-Portuguese dance music which maps strong parallels to the UK's own transition and flux between grime and UKF, whilst also demonstrating why Marfox is now regarded as the main ambassador and catalyst for Lisbon's colourfully influential and world-renowned style.
Taking his name from Nintendo's Starfox character (and establishing a trend for the -fox suffix so prevalent in kuduro and tarraxhina) DJ Marfox was instrumental in shaping one
of today's most vital dance scenes with a number of productions from his 17 year old self cropping up on ear-opening compilations such as the foundational DJs Do Guetto Vol.1 in 2006, and later on the Bazzerk - African Digital Dance Music set which turned a lot of DJs and dancers onto this sound.
He's subsequently released the 1st record on kuduro's best alibi, Príncipe, and followed Visionist and DJ Rashad to release on J-Cush's Lit City Trax, and has also appeared alongside his Lisbon crew on the Cargaa compilations for Warp Records.
However, this set returns to his wildest early years; from the hyper disco-techno drive of Funk em Kuduro or the galloping darkwave-riding horsepower of Un Bes Bai from 2006;
thru the killer jump-up downstroke of Sem Fronteiras or the inimitable, body-carving syncopation of Aiué Remix circa 2007-08, and his hollering A Própria with DJ Nervoso - which could almost be some ravenous Chicago house oddity - all of which illustrate the sound of a young producer firmly finding his feet and blazing a trail where others such as Arca, M.E.S.H. or Nidia Minaj would soon follow.Most of all though; it's a proper dance record for summer and beyond, either as DJ tools or the soundtrack to backyard raves, BBQs and beach parties.

For the first solo EP on Horror Boogie, Fedka the Irritant steps up, after his outstanding track on Horror Boogie 01.

Fedka the Irritant is probably best known as the trombonist in the excellent band Pest (Ninja Tune), alongside Ben Pest (Panic Bridge, Victim, Bonus Round). He is also a seriously original and versatile producer in his own right. He has released on Panic Bridge, alongside the other Pest members and his trombone techno live sets are something to behold.

Here, he drops four varied tracks, starting with the behemoth 'Words for Friends', a heavy slice of wonky techno, with a big kick and rasping synth. Next up is 'One Uncertain Eyebrow', a building, funky, fuzzy acid-laced track that drops harder and harder as it goes on.

On side B, calypso-flavoured, jazzed up 'Stick It' progresses on to a become a warbling bass effort with a smooth hip-hop vocal. Last but not least is 'You Only Die Once', another funk-laden monster, with a killer slap bass line...

Graciously welcoming the second full-length lp from Philadelphia's Jesse Dewlow, recording under the moniker People Skills. The follow-up to 2014's Siltbreeze set Tricephalic Head. Ten sunken songs, derisively adorned with rhythm and rudimentary dub effects. Bedroom elegies for the lost and irretrievable, last-ditch spells for transformation and renewal. Thurston Moore and Byron Coley likened the previous record to South Island NZ pop played inside of an armored car', and that description holds here: underneath the hoods of these wracked and weather-beaten recordings are melodies of disarming beauty and optimism, bordering on the (wilfully) mawkish, bubblegum ground underfoot. Each piece as time-stopping and evocative as an old photograph of someone who used to mean something. Whether speaking through stately keyboard pastorals ('Mint Julep'), rat-arsed rock 'n roll slur ('89¢ Public Render') or sulphurous aggro-electronics (the two-part title track),Gunshots At Crestridge exposes, then seeks to redeem, all our tiny acts of self-sabotage, all our sins against time. For more than a decade now Ryan Teague has walked an unpredictable musical path, treading and blurring the lines between classical, electronic, acoustic and soundtrack influences. His latest album Site Specific is yet another twist and turn on this intriguing journey. Still present are the minimalist polyrhythms, electro-acoustic instrumentation and cinematic ambience that have come to define his style, but this time - incorporating a full band - the themes are framed through a lens which also takes in improvisation and minimal jazz.

Key collaborators include Gareth Davis (Bass Clarinet) and Dan Nicholls (Rhodes Piano), who weave subtle melodies and textures throughout. The resulting soundscapes echo the timeless feel of In a Silent Way era Miles channelled through a contemporary palette. The music is at once expressive, dynamic and exciting whilst demonstrating sensitive restraint appropriate to its minimalist objectives.

Glitchy ambient opener Wide Angle sets the tone perfectly and makes way for the likes of Second Scene with it's brooding bass, dark drums and minimal melodies. Elsewhere Surface Tension takes a fragmented string loop on an epic cinematic journey, whilst title track Site Specific sets agitated drum rhythms and cutting bass against freeform Rhodes and echoing horns in an intense showdown.

Ryan has demonstrated time and again that he is unafraid to try something new and Site Specific is no exception. But there's a newfound sense of focus and energy here and something genuinely fresh and exciting seems to have emerged.

Stephen Omalley - Gruides

The dark interpreter, Stephen O'Malley ov Sunn 0))), presents his towering debut orchestral composition 'Guidés', commissioned by French 35-piece improv orchestra ONCEIM - l'Orchestre de Nouvelles Créations, Expérimentations et Improvisation Musicales - and released thru Demdike Stare's DDS label. In early 2014 O'Malley was approached by pianist and composer Frédéric Blondy to write a work for the orchestra, comprised of exceptional musicians from the fields of contemporary, jazz, experimental, improvisation and classical. Understandably intimidated by the prospect, but encouraged to just be punk rock about it', the preternaturally gifted composer has conceived a technically demanding - for the players at least - and richly rewarding longform drone piece intently focussed on harmonic experimentation and overtone study. During its 35 minute lifespan, 'Gruidés' requires the musicians to sustain pitches for several minutes (which is difficult enough for strings, and a real feat of endurance for woodwind), yielding a gloaming spectra of eliding dissonance rent in sliding tone clusters and lucent geometries punctuated by a similar whipcrack percussion as used in his Scott 0))) collaboration. It makes great use of the acoustic qualities of Saint Merry church, central Paris, as captured in the recording of IRCAM's Augustin Muller and mastered by Matt Colton with a detached spaciousness evocatively distilled in the cover art by Jean-Luc Verna. It's an incredibly immersive piece that comes highly recommended if you're into the work of Phill Niblock, Alvin Lucier, Ellen Fullman, Harley Gaber and, indeed, Sunn 0)))

Svarte Greiner - Moss Garden

Two sidelong excursions by Erik K Skodvin aka Svarte Greiner. Side A is a moving piece, it features a disorientating bassline in slow motion, creeping underneath some delicate work of strings. There's a certain flirtation with the sublime here, but then the track enters some strange landscape, "a desolate wasteland filled with electric organisms." Side B is an epic drone piece called 'Garden'. A Garden, which is dark and comforting at the same time. Recommended!

Erik K Skodvin returns with a focused new album under his Svarte Greiner moniker by releasing two side-long cinematic compositions, continuing where he left off three years ago with the album Black Tie.

The Marble patiently sets the tone with a slow moving wall of strings underlaid by a warped bass line. A feeling of weightlessness covers the ground while empty space surrounds you in an embracing yet uneasy way. It's a gloomy territory with an unexpected extent of grace to encounter. Time gradually illuminates several stages of light and dark before revealing a desolate wasteland filled with electric organisms.

Garden strikes heavily with rattling string hits and low bass waves quivering through your skull, transforming the scenery into a fallow that is staring right back at you. This could easily be the soundtrack to a nightmarish sleeplessness if it wasn't for carefully scattered comfort zones to be found in unknown territory: What appears to be violent at first soon reveals sheer reflective beauty. However, it is patience and repeated listening that liberate the aspired altered state of consciousness. Originally composed for Marit Følstad´s installation art, Moss Garden more than ever consolidates Erik Skodvin's individual idea of soundscape. You can interpret his approach as an embodiment of the word Terrific's amelioration: Developing from Terrifying over Intense to its modern understanding in a little more than two centuries. Svarte Greiner reenacts this metamorphosis within a single recording.

Keiji Haino - 1973 Live - Milky Way

Black Truffle is thrilled to present the first vinyl issue of Keiji Haino's Milky Way. Originally released as a limited CD in Japan by the short lived Mom 'n' Dad Productions in 1993, this release documents a blistering live performance recorded in Kyoto in 1973, five years before the formation of the first line-up of Fushitsusha, and eight years before Haino's first solo album. Working with a mysterious set-up including primitive electronics, homemade acoustic instruments, piano and voice, Haino lets loose a single 48-minute psychedelic maelstrom, marrying the immersive echo-fields of kosmische music to the rough and ready hands-on feel of classic 1960s live electronics à la MEV or Ashley's Wolfman. Despite the absence of guitar, this recording clearly lays the groundwork for the epic blowouts which were to make Haino's name in years to come, building up to a point of almost unbearable intensity in its final minutes as Haino's voice wails over a wall of distorted DIY electronics. At times presaging the psychedelic noise of C.C.C.C., Milky Way shows Haino's singular intensity and ritualistic performance style already in full flower at this early date in his long career. Presented in raw and immediate room fidelity (complete with dramatic tape drop-out), this is both an essential historical document and a classic performance in its own right.

Perhaps most arresting is the sense of scale of his pressure systems, maintaining a heady flux between physical bass and persistent, warm downpours in the 15 minute opener Return Of Yellow
Herb Ambient, whereas Watery Grave leans back on a breezy sort of boogie pivot maybe best compared with Actress or NWAQ, and the perfectly portentous title of When Spotted They Are
Killed On Sight is matched by the track's clammy, petrifying nature.
If willing to travel farther, we find some of Fernow's most layered, even luxuriant harmonic arrangements and poised drum programming in Red Protection Against Black Magic, and the
closest he's come to cinematic detailing with Crustaceans Rise From Salt Water For Vengeance, and we find a possible clue to the project's esoteric, tribal and anachronistic roots in the head-
vibrating folk drone expanse of Thought To Be Bad Omens, which could almost be scoring some Herzog feature on the state of contemporary rainforests.
Finally the throbbing Nocturnal Anatomy and curdled buzz of Full Moon Moth provide some of the album's most narcotised yet insistent, irresistible moments, and Neel steps in to refresh a vintage
RSE cut, Black Magic Originated In Nature with patented Roman sophistication suitable for the dankest dance floors. t's a properly haunting, daresay addictive record.

Zero T - Ever Need (feat. Steo) / Plain As Day

* With over a decade in the game, London based Irishman Cian McCann, also known by his pseudonym Zero T, is about to join underground tastemaker Horizons Music for another phenomenal addition to their discography. Already weaving himself an established place within the scene, having worked with the likes of Calibre, Noisia, Alix Perez and more, his talent and work ethic have proved uncompromising. Also remixing classic dance music pioneers Dillinja and Rolo from Faithless, his output has never receded. Zero T's music presents the same type of diversity as he plays behind the decks, but this can only be expected from a producer who's released on every platform, from the likes of Shogun and Subtitles, to Soul:r and Signature. But this time, it's Horizons who have taken him under their wing and with such an unbreakable work ethic and stellar output, it's easy to see why.

* Up first is 'Ever Need'. Featuring the vocal prowess of Steo, it's a melodic roller that carries itself forward on clattering hi-hats and falling wave patterns. Quickly clinking drums help to bolster the mix slightly, but what really becomes apparent is the track's minimalism. Steo adds a beautiful humanistic twist, with his voice notes hitting amongst each falling break, telling a tale of forlorn love. Your introduction to the EP, it definitely sets a precedent for what's to follow.

* 'Plain as Day' comes next. It's slightly darker in its delivery, with lofty key notes drawing you into a pattern of weirdly displaced breaks. This is Zero T at his most foreboding and you're unsure of which direction this track is going to take. Your intrigue is taken one step further, when tribal wood work flows through the mix and you're once again left to stand back and bask at the producer's integral sound design.

Peripheral Minimal is proud to announce the forthcoming album, 'Aus Den Anti-Imperialistischen Tagebu¨chern', by In Namen Des Volkes.

INDV is the brainchild of Hamburg resident Matthias Schuster (also of Bal Pare, Das Institut,Geisterfahrer and others), and creates a more heavy-weight style of Minimal Synth in the spirit of D.A.F., or even early Front 242. The tracks were taken directly off cassettes and reworked with added vocals, whilst maintaining the original 80s recording techniques of 4-track and purely analogue instrumentation, strictly no plug-ins or digitalism here!

Matthias has been actively producing complex synthetic sounds since the late 1970s, having released seminal albums and singles on respected labels such as, Plastic Frog, Minimal Wave and Medical Records. His passion for all things analogue seems to be irrepressible, devoting a considerable amount of time to myriad projects each with their own unique qualities and sonics. He musically switches from Neue Deutsche Welle stylings, to Minimal Synth and proto-EBM with great dexterity and a rare continuing dedication.

The album is presented in a luxurious digipak and limited to 300 copies. Recorded between 1980 - 2015. Artwork by Kilgore Trout.

The tone gets even darker on the B-side with Reverse Blank, a pulsing, stabby warehouse-shattering dropper. Cold mid frequency stabs masterfully drenched in reverb ring out alongside stacked drum hits. Gaze Ill gets the co-production credit with Cessman jumping on the buttons to finish this one off.

Group As Salaam. 'L'burgh l'burgh' - a traditional Saharan folk number urging action by 'rolling up your sleeves'. Label Boss and curator Pete OntheCorner shared his Group as Salaam desert sessions with drummer/producer Rich Thair (Auntie Flo / Red Snapper) who is the first to vibe with this hypnotic desert band.

Emanative under the Antoine Abayomi guise provides a grime-laden tropical-bass banger that was the first remix from 'Instead' to be championed by Gilles Peterson. The Emanative, Collocutor and Earl Zinger combo that cast the label into being in 2013 have just warmed-up the earthly sprites that stepped-out to see the hyped Kamasi Washington in Berlin.c

Biome's latest release, which forms part of On The Edge's View from The Edge project, sees the Manchester-based producer return to 140 BPM across three atmospheric and sub-heavy tracks.

a1 'Turn' takes influence from the rolling techno-inspired sound pioneered by Martyn, Appleblim and Ramadanman in 2007, but updates this formula for 2016 - adding heady atmospherics, razor-sharp drum programming and the kind of vocal samples that have become synonymous with this label.

b1 'Remembrance' is a more introspective and low-slung affair, building tension throughout its five and a half minute duration. In the hands of right DJ this is the kind of track that would sound just as effective when played in a dark London basement as it would amongst a set of more European house- and techno-based sounds.

Lastly we have 'Niagra' on the b2. Aimed directly at the dancefloor, 'Niagra' ends this EP with a bang - incorporating powerful sub bass with 94' era breaks and modern day juke and footwork influences during its mid-section. This track is a certified peak time weapon, sure to result in frenzied dance floor action.

Pressed up on fresh white 12' vinyl, this EP will be released in conjunction with a digital-only mix from Biome, which showcases the sounds of On The Edge - past, present and future.

Acting as if there was some unfinished business left over from his cracking Raw Trax LP, this platter acts as a sort of resolution; in-your-face proof that Hart is hurling out some of the fiercest reductions of UK rufige styles right now.Slewage is the run-off of 20 odd years in front of the bassbins and behind the decks on pirate radio and X amount of raves, like the residual effluence of jungle, dark garage and dubstep reanimated like some concrète golem that's gagging for a gary and a good mash up.The title track comes spoiling for it with speaker-worrying levels of scything halfstep patterns punctured by dancehall declamations, rinsing a paucity of elements for kernels of brutalist truth in a way that also provides the backbone to the ravenous slaughter of
Bombastic Plastic - a very strong nod to OG breakstep and DMZ's B - whilst The Curse rolls out at full stretch with scabrous proto-grime drums balanced by a skinny but crucial lick of pensive strings.On the remix Rabit goes into freefall mode, channelling Slewage into a mazy K-hole of masticated soundsystem samples and anti-peristaltic wretch that sounds sod all like the original, might as well be another OG Rabit ace.

Hospital Productions collect some of the strongest coldwave pop dirges of a generation in Contrepoison's Discography 2010-2012 survey, wrapping up both his self-released tapes and releases for Dominick Fernow's cherished imprint.Since the late '90s, Québécois musician and noise artist Pierre Marc-Tremblay has been recognised as a vital force in nether musical realms with a palette ranging from hermetic black metal (Akitsa) to the bitterest rhythmic noise (Âmes Sanglantes), and, more recently, the nerve-bitingly melodic pop of Contrepoison, whose I Keep On Searching 12' - included here - is a dead firm fixture 'round these parts.Arriving at the vanguard of a new slew of coldwave revisionists and fetishists in 2010, his music stood, and still stands, head and shoulders above the rest thanks to an incessant drive and directness that can't be ignored by anyone into the original stuff, or who has arrived via the sound's prevailing, contemporary winds.Vacillating belting vocal pop arrangements with howling, stygian instrumentals of synth, guitar and enslaved drum machines, Discography 2010-2012 drags a perfectly malformed body of work, cycling chronologically from the pounding mix of industrial kicks and neofolk cadence of ...Until Next Morning's amazing title cut to the blank-eyed dirge of To Never, Forever, before taking in the stomping Deserted Story from his 2011 split with Vatican Shadow, and committing the frankly fucking addictive hits of I Keep On Searching, best summed up in that raging, glam title tune and sandwiched with aces from the compilation Around The Dragon's Broken Neck Hangs the Medal of Saint Lazarus.It only gets more wonderfully bombed out and crestfallen from therein, from the plangent siren call of Nectar of Destiny to the exclusive instrumental, The Moon Has Mad The Eclipse, and a grip of killers off The Thunders Which Collide tape, including the raging banger The Thunders Which Collide and another cut exclusive to this set in the T2-finale-esque instrumental, As The Blazing Sun Enters Scorpio.Basically, it's riddled with memorable hooks and rages like a wounded beast trapped down a well. You'll know within seconds whether you love it or not, and we definitely fall in the former category.
Hugely recommended.

Pale Calling presents the fruits of the first collaboration between Oren Ambarchi, Kassel Jaeger and James Rushford, recorded at GRM studios, Paris in 2014. Although drawing on aspects of each member's solo works, the trio mark out their own unique territory, a mysterious space of slowly cycling electronics, distracted vocal mumbles and often unidentifiable field recordings. These two side-long pieces are composed of distinct layers that gently rise up and recede, obeying a dream-logic that feels entirely disconnected from traditional electro-acoustic composition, forming surreal sonic images in which half-remembered fragments of everyday life mix with the quiet intensity of dreams haunted by natural forces.Over the course of the first side a slowly thudding electronic pulse eventually gives way to a distant organ, detouring through reverberated guitar shimmers, moments of Ashley-esque vocal automatism and waves of insects and bats. The second side utilises similar ingredients, this time layered over the top of what sounds like radically slowed down film music. Anders Enge - Tengdahlsg Acid Master

Anders Enges interest in modular synthesizers comes from a desire to shut down conscious decisions about form and to focus on rhythm and timbre. This does however not land in traditional techno but rather in a riff-oriented style, the riff being both rhythm and "melody" and also a morphing entity in the music. Drums and percussion attempt to follow this entity, while maintaining a link to the dance music pulse. The resulting style makes for a hybrid timewarped experience of travelling a parallell electronic music reality, a brooding technoid that grooves.

These Hidden Hands - Vicarious Memories

After These Hidden Hands re-surfaced earlier this year with the collaborative single These Moments Dismantled featuring Lucrecia Dalt, Tommy Four Seven and Alain Paul a.k.a. Shards are set to release Vicarious Memories, their second full length LP, on August 8th 2016. Vicarious Memories builds substantially upon the sound forged with their debut album and brings a considerable new level of detail, complexity, and musicality, which ranges from flowing mellifluous grooves, somber drones, to the outright bizarre and unexpected. Although loosely an instrumental electronic album, the album makes extensive use of guitar and vocals and features prominent guest vocal contributions from underground Berlin based musicians Julia Kotowski and Ale Hop. A multifaceted artist from Guinea-Bissau, based in Lisbon: rapper, poet, edutainer & beatmaker, creating music based on improvisation in which he blends his psychedelic, black music, afro ancestral influences and love for the non-quantized beats in the same way as with experimental jazz, mixed contemporary and urban styles. Last year Diaphra wons the 3rd place at the 1st International Poetry Slam in Rio de Janeiro (Flupp). In 2012 Diaphra featured & toured Europe as MC/performer for Angolan/Portuguese project Batida's eponymous debut album (Soundway),"a record that could change the african electronic music on the 21st century" (Songlines) - their live show was also "one of the best 10 acts from Womex" (NPR Radio). Diaphra's Blackbook Of The Beats is following the idea of building instrumental bases on the outside environment wherever Diaphra feels inspired. A backpack, some vinyl records, a portable turntable and a sampler for self deconstruction / recreation from which resulted this (mainly) instrumental album and which is documented in form of musical videos in the dvd. The particulary of this project resides in the non-quantized beats over which the enlightening poetry is spoken, rapped and chanted in portuguese, where trial and error take part of the compositions which are enhanced with the use of instruments played by invited musicians and sometimes by Diaphra himself. Add to this various carefully handcrafted editions " including a silkscreened reproduction of the real Diaphra's Black Book Of The Beats " and you get the kind of artifact we love to bump into. It's no exaggeration to say that J:Kenzo is one of the leading lights of underground bass music today. As a producer for labels as diverse, venerable, and crucial as Tempa, Metalheadz, and Exit Records he makes much of the music defining the moment from drum & bass to steppers. He also shapes our listening and dancing through the careful curation of his own Artikal Music UK and Lion Charge imprints, to say nothing of his monthly Rinse FM show and non-stop global touring. Needless to say we were extremely pleased when he approached us with two tunes tailor-made for ZamZam.Without" is a 140 workout, at once minimalist, muscular, meditative and sinister. A deep skanking pad and synthetic percussion set the stage for the leaden kick and steady hi hat pulse calling all dancers. Rockers' drum fill and test tone sprinkle dubwise flavor as the haunting melodics waft through, as hypnotic as smoke trails in a cloudy studio. Without' is perfectly crafted in every respect.

The flip side Within' is another expertly honed journey into deep 140 waters, heavy on the atmospherics that recall wide open vistas and treacherous seas. Synth and bass work as one, surfacing and diving to both anchor and propel a massive riddim both heady and totally physical. The hi hat is again steady with punctuating snares & claps, huge chasms of space open up leaving the listener stunned at the depths within.

'Satan's Slave' is the latest release from Moscovitch Music (Terror/Prey), the brainchild of producer/compiler Joel Martin (Quiet Village/Velvet Season & The Hearts of Gold/Maxxi & Zeus) whose 'de Wolfe Music' compilations 'Bite Hard/Bite Harder' are considered essential primers of the library genre.

This Holy Grail Black-Magic British Jazz soundtrack from 1976 is the most requested movie score of cult film composer and top English Jazz saxophonist/flautist - John Scott (Symptoms/Wake in Fright/Craze).

For aficionados of rare library music and obscure Horror soundtracks this is an essential album.

'Satan's Slave' - The original soundtrack to Norman J Warren's (Terror/Prey/Inseminoid) nihilistic tale of Witchcraft and occultism conjures an uneasy yet compelling experience for fans of exploitation OST's, and a veritable smorgasboard of dark progressive samples for the producers. The ritualistic tribal beats of 'Sacrifice' could have been culled from the KPM library catalogue (John Scott was a regular session player for them) while 'Drive to Alexander's and crash' is forgotten filmic UK Modal Jazz with a tropical flavour which harks back to Scott's legendary Columbia Lansdowne LP from 1967 'Communication', a firm Gilles Peterson favourite. 'A walk in the grounds' is pure mellow heat - fuel for the MPC 2000, with its crisp Fender Rhodes chords and 'Dusty Fingers' vibe, and 'Unused Cue' which is an additional recording we discovered on the reels is a fiery free-Jazz odyssey for explorers of the fifth dimension!

The complete 'Satan's Slave' soundtrack, which is being presented here for the first time on any format, has been lovingly remastered from the original half-inch master tapes courtesy of Sean P(Z Records), and sounds as edgy, fresh and relevant as it did back in the swinging seventies.

Spooky And Boylan - Low Rider / All Black Winter

Our 14th release takes us to the darker side of the sound. Boylan has been the unsung hero of our label over the years- engineering and mixing down the majority of our releases and becoming a real architect of the foundations of our sound. Following his work with Edgem and general ubiquity on London's stations over the last year or so, it was only natural that he and Spooky found themselves in the studio together. Earlier this year they brought "Peckham To Hackney" to the second Boxed 12" and we thought they needed a release of their own. This 10" is the product of it. Low Rider starts the process. A malevolent take on the West Coast walking bassline style, we signed it before it was even a track - just a 4am 8-bar loop, haze and sub. After listening to that sparse 20 seconds on repeat for a while, they brought muscle to the skeleton - DJ Quik in Peckham. All Black Winter, meanwhile, takes their sound in a much harsher direction. Growling saws, gutteral strings and a brief morse code arpeggio meet violent gunshot snares and Boylan's bass science. One for the 2am rideouts, the double drop at 2:40. The late 1990s was a fertile time in the American electronic underground. A growing body of artists, spread around the nation, were engaging in the latest round of a decades-long transatlantic musical conversation. At the convergence of hip-hop, electronic, and soul music, these artists sought to carve out their own lane. In September 2001, New Orleans' Telefon Tel Aviv, high school friends Joshua Eustis and the late Charles Cooper, joined the conversation with their debut album, Fahrenheit Fair Enough, released by Hefty Records. A labour of love, Fahrenheit was an attempt by the pair to contribute something meaningful' Eustis says today, something definitely American, and kinda southern too.' On the fifteenth anniversary of its release, Ghostly International is reissuing Fahrenheit Fair Enough with a vinyl edition and bonus digital material

Living in New Orleans in the late 1990s, Eustis and Cooper were in the thrall of two musical orbits: black America——New Orleans' bounce, Detroit's techno, Chicago's house——and British electronica——Au-techre, Aphex Twin, Jega. Recorded over the course of a year in Eustis' childhood bedroom in the Riverbend neighborhood of New Orleans, Fahrenheit mapped out a potential for American electronic music in a time of hope. The music features delicate Rhodes and guitar instrumentation wrapped in a southern bounce shell, smothered in r&b, and cut up by digital rhythm programming. The tracks were meant to be constantly, evolving sculptures.' Fascinated by IDM, the pair sought to inject some swagger into it, loosen it up a little but also make it hyper romantic.'

Eustis and Cooper had imagined making a hard club record,' but instead Fahrenheit came to be seen as a delicate slice of electronica by fans and critics who misconstrued its stylistics roots. This was, perhaps, hardly surprising. Telefon Tel Aviv arrived at a time when there was no roadmap for an American electronic music scene comparable to what the UK had produced in the 1990s. They were the latest artists to find themselves in a strange middle ground between hip-hop and electronic music that had yet to be understood.

Following the loss of Cooper in 2009, Eustis spent years unwilling to revive the Telefon Tel Aviv project, doubting his ability to do it justice. But time is a great healer. After seven years Eustis is now working on new Telefon Tel Aviv material. And time is also proving the pair right. The sonic sculptures of Fahrenheit Fair Enough they spent thousands of hours' carving have proven resilient. The music sounds all the more relevant in 2016 because the roadmap Eustis and Cooper desired then exists today. And because today everyone listens to what the South has to say.

We just wanted to see if we could make it work,' recalls Eustis. We didn't know. Our aim was to make something we could be proud of.'

A staple since its first edition in 2010, UKF's yearly UKF Dubstep compilation is back for 2016, featuring some of this year's most essential tracks from dubstep and beyond.

Representing the full spectrum of influences of the genre, this year's album boasts hits from European bass music powerhouses Noisia, Flux Pavilion, Feed Me or Eptic as well as a string of some of the most prolific US artists like Datsik, Jauz & Snails - all having made dubstep history throughout the years. In addition to the heavier sounds, UKF Dubstep 2016 also showcases the influence of grime on current productions, with tracks from Shm and Foreign Beggars x Asa x Sorrow.

Melodic dubstep fans will be delighted to find Koven's Telling Me on the album alongside Bare Noize's huge come-back release: vocal single Elemental, a collaboration with producer friend AFK featuring vocalist Anna Yvette. Last but not least, the album features throwbacks to the sound that kicked off UKF and dubstep in 2010, with Myro's Playa and Cookie Monsta's Soundboy, both echoing the wobbly sound that grew dubstep into the worldwide phenomenon it still is today.

Villem & Mcleod - Spiritual Value Ep

* Horizons Music have time and time again upheld their ethos. This is something which is becoming abundantly clear with each release. Their mission statement is to deliver only the best, most versatile and dynamic pieces of static artwork and to ensure they line the sets of artists from every DJ type. It's impossible not to become entrenched within their discography, every part of it as spectacularly moulded as the next. And it's the artists they hand pick for their roster which makes their music so especially perfect for late night rendezvous on the dancefloor. Villem & Mcleod, two artists whose synergy is apparent from each release they've put out together. It's an energy which is about to take the helm once again; throughout the next three tracks Horizons Music will further lodge itself within your musical subconscious.

* 'Wonderful' opens the EP with an intricately written intro, including lofty piano notes and shaking percussion. With a bassline that quivers and flutes which add to its waif-like atmospherics, prepare to be taken into the sound of Villem and Mcleod. However, the light has a darker side, and you're quickly plunged into a low frequency distortion of bass. Female vocals add yet another shade, dicing up the segments and presenting a huge colour palette of sound. 'Spiritual Value' and 'Mystic Ritual' both give a valuable insight into the minds of Villem & Mcleod, but channel their own vibe individually. 'Spiritual Value' bleats through elongated note arpeggios and precarious samples of speech. But as always, they take you down a murkier path and drop the level two or three notches below zero. Following this up, 'Mystic Ritual' switches up a notch, this time not leaving you guessing and firing you synapses first through a chasm of plucky strings and carefully laid out pads. Drums push through the mix giving it an edgier feel, whilst vocals are utilised to soften the blow. The drop, although slightly less illusive, still catches you off guard. You find yourself brought forward on a jazzy riddim, one that'll take you into the darkest nights of any club. Horizons present a package of three delights.

* Flip-side 'The Carpenters' strikes a more domesticated tone, with motorik industrial dub eventually giving way to haunted sci-fi bachelor pad lounge.
