Hip-Hop Vinyl New Releases - News

Originally released in 2014 via digital only, we are giving this incredible EP a well-deserved Vinyl release. 8 vocal tracks, plus 4 exclusive instrumentals, makes this a sure-shot purchase!

C L N K is Silviu Badea of Bucharest, Romania. The elusive producer debuted in 2014 with the full-length 'Black Ecstasy', soon followed by a 5-track EP, 'Anti'. Press feedback included The FADER, XLR8R, Dummy, Line of Best Fit, Big Up, and more. Both these records feature erratic and brittle bat-cave techno. For his latest work, C L N K sticks with the nihilistic undertone but revives influences from downtempo, footwork, and ambient.

Coming off of the success of his critically acclaimed sophomore LP 'A Dream Deferred' and the heralded 'Barrel Brothers' collabo album with Torae, Skyzoo returns with his third solo effort 'Music For My Friends'. The album finds Sky back to what he's known for best: vivid storytelling, using elite lyricism to paint the scenes. Backed by production from !llmind, Apollo Brown, Jahlil Beats and more, with guest features from the likes of Jadakiss, Black Thought, Elzhi and Bilal, #MFMF is sure to fill the void of NYC soundtrack storytelling that Skyzoo's fans have been yearning for since his last solo release.

Suff Daddy from Berlin is leading the pack of the new wave of German beat producers like Dexter, Brenk Sinatra, Twit One and Flako. - Suff Sells' is his third album after - Hi-Hat Club Vol.2 - Suff Draft' and - Gin Diaries'. Features by Miles Bonny, Elzhi, Phat Kat, Fleur Earth, Vertual Vertigo, Twit One and Hulk Hodn. Suff Daddy songs have been used in Adidas commercials and can be heard in the UK cult series - Shameless' and tv programms like the German science magazine - Gallileo'. Suff Daddy has produced and remixed artists like Gulity Simpson, Phat Kat, Sola Rosa, Flo Mega and Morlockk Dilemma. On - Suff Sells' he is giving the fans what they want: 29 brand-new Suff Daddy joints in a drunken boom bap style. Fuelled by crackling old records, weed and sick micro korg licks. A couple of vocals cuts are thrown into the mix too but it's all about the beat and the vibe here.
Step into the world of Suff Daddy...
Life can be easy when you are Suff Daddy. You get up late and roll a phat one. You switch on your MacBook and chop some samples. Pour yourself a drink and twist the Micro Korg. Upload the track on the MPM server and let it marinate there for a minute. Miles Bonny, Elzhi or Fleur Earth may add some vocals later on. If it is a tuesday night you pack up your gear and head to Beat Geeks, the producer hang-out in Berlin Kreuzberg that you host. If it is a Friday or Saturday chances are good that you jump on the ICE train and head to Cologne, Hamburg, Vienna or Zürich for a gig. You play Splash Festival, Beat BBQ, Hip-Hop Kemp and the Hi-Hat Club and do tours with Miles Bonny. No matter where you go, people welcome you with free weed and liqour. You hang out with your producer friends Brenk Sinatra, Twit One, Dexter, DJ Day or Hulk Hodn and talk beats, rhymes and life. When your new record is ready, HHV pre-order a 1.000 + copies and produce a free t-shirt. You sign sponsorship deals with the San Diego Padres, Tanqueray, Carhartt and Louis Vuitton...
In short: you are having the time of your life if you don't take in account the
beat blocks, hang-overs, shitty sound systems, shady promoters, filthy hotel
rooms, crowded trains, colds, black-outs and long weekends away from your girl. But some this might chance soon. Suff Daddy will move from Berlin to Sydney this summer ....

'I may have no possessions, but here lies everything one needs'
This is Alexandre Francisco Diaphra's motto as governor of his own life. A multifaceted artist from Guinea-Bissau, based in Lisbon: rapper, poet, edutainer & beatmaker, creating music based on improvisation in which he blends his psychedelic, black music, afro ancestral influences and love for the non-quantized beats in the same way as with experimental jazz, mixed contemporary and urban styles. Last year Diaphra wons the 3rd place at the 1st International Poetry Slam in Rio de Janeiro (Flupp).
In 2012 Diaphra featured & toured Europe as MC/performer for Angolan/Portuguese project Batida's eponymous debut album (Soundway),'a record that could change the african electronic music on the 21st century" (Songlines) - their live show was also "one of the best 10 acts from Womex" (NPR Radio). Diaphra's Blackbook Of The Beats is following the idea of building instrumental bases on the outside environment wherever Diaphra feels inspired. A backpack, some vinyl records, a portable turntable and a sampler for self deconstruction / recreation from which resulted this (mainly) instrumental album and which is documented in form of musical videos in the dvd.
The particulary of this project resides in the non-quantized beats over which the enlightening poetry is spoken, rapped and chanted in portuguese, where trial and error take part of the compositions which are enhanced with the use of instruments played by invited musicians and sometimes by Diaphra himself. Add to this various carefully handcrafted editions - including a silkscreened reproduction of the real Diaphra's Black Book Of The Beats - and you get the kind of artifact we love to bump into. Available as CD and Limited Vinyl Edition.

Citizen Funk are Scherbe und his longtime friend Peter Clamat (who is also running Big Bait Records). Each year, they meet in the French region Alsace to jam along on their machines, moving back and forth between House, Hip Hop, Funk and Jazz. Every track here breathes good vibes and a laid back attitude just in time for summer.

Rinse are proud to present the debut full-length album by London producer Faze Miyake, released on 2nd October.

Four years since the firey swagger of his debut single 'Take Off' and its follow-up Second Six exploded onto dancefloors, Faze Miyake is a definitive and thrilling realisation of his signature sound. A sharp, vividly rendered club record, it casts his characteristic sonic traits in shocking hi-def, with disorienting hi-hat whirls and string stabs steeped in ever-present, body-shuddering sub-bass - a dazzling, dreamlike vision of 21st century sound system music.

Highlights of "Noir" include the lead single "We Do Our Thing" that has Willie The Kid, MaLLy, P. Blackk and Fabrashay trade rhymes over an atmospheric instrumental backdrop as well as Chuuwee's "Rock The Party (Bang Bang)". On this standout track the Sacramento rhymesayer and longtime JR&PH7 collaborator rocks your local house party over a hard knocking drum break that will leave you with neck problems.

With the release of this new EP, the two German beatsmiths let everybody know that they are a force to reckon with in 2015. There is light in the darkness, just ask JR&PH7.

Key Selling Points: - New JR&PH7 project after three critically acclaimed albums ("The Standard","The Update", "The Good Life"), which all ranked on the iTunes Indie Spotlight Best Hip Hop Albums of 2009, 2010 and 2012. - Four previous #1 singles on the college charts - Radio promotions by Foundation Media, online marketing by Soulspazm. - Radio support via Hot 97 FM, Power 105, Sirius Satellite, XM, Music Choice & College Radio - Strong Online Presence

18+ return with their 'They Remixes' EP, a collaboration with artists they respect and admire, with a purpose to reinvent their favourite tracks taken from their critically acclaimed debut album 'Trust'. Featured artists include the distorted trap beat darling Suicideyear (prod. for Yung Lean), experimental grime producer Mr. Mitch, and the cult Portuguese collective Tia Maria Produções. The final feature is relatively unknown Puerto Rican artist Audri Nix, whose unofficial remix for 'Crow' first caught the attention of the band for its similarities to their own aesthetic and magpie-like approach to art. Sung all in Spanish, Audri provides original lyrics just keeping the band's beats.

The 12' is cut & mastered by Matt Colton, and strictly limited to 500 copies on heavyweight vinyl.

MF DOOM and Madlib are Madvillain. The two met in 2002 and soon began working on Madvillainy which would be finished over the next year and released in March 2004. The music on Madvillainy went against the grain of all popular conventions in contemporary hip-hop: short songs, dirty sound, no choruses, and with lyrical themes which were not always clear to everyone on first listen.

The album received the highest critical praise of a hip-hop album released in 2004, and years later haS continued to generate interest and controversy. This modern classic, while previously available only in a plain sleeve, is given the proper treatment of a full color jacket.

The prof is back w/some heavy boom bap for New Orleans Funk maestros. Check the heavy head nod on "Right Place Wrong Time" & the sweet funky grooves of "Superjock." Heavy beats, clean scratches, & funk for days.

Tune in, turn on, drop out! - The Trip' ist Dexter's lang erwartetes zweites Soloalbum.

Razor-N-Tape does hip-hop! This 3rd instalment in the eclectic RNT45 series presents The Planty Herbs, an up-and-coming production talent out of Amsterdam. On the A side, the Detroit sound gets the blunted and bouncy Dutch coffee-shop treatment, and on the flip a daisy-eyed classic gets revitalized over a sampled-laden groove, punctuated with rhodes and guitar stabs. Roll dat shit, light dat shit, hit dat shit. ;)

All female rap group featuring the legendary Monie Love, Carolina Dirty, MyVerse & Dominique LaRue on J.Rawls Polar Ent. label! Production by J.Rawls & Mr.Lawnge of Black Sheep!

Individually they are: Carolina Dirty, Dominique Larue, Monie Love and MyVerse.
But collaboratively they make up 'Heresy', an all female Hip Hop group that is going to quickly remind you what you have been missing in Hip Hop music.

The four ladies, all well-established Emcees in their own right come through the door already adorned with various achievements and wearing their experience in the game like jewels.
What started out as a Hip Hop dream in the mind of music trailblazer and heavy hitter, Monie Love is now a reality.
Carolina Dirty - No longer the 'New Girl in Town' the North Carolina native has proven her reputation for soulfully coming hard on a track to be true. She consistently delivers on arrival using her musical skills and quickly adapting to any beat, making her an exciting Emcee to listen to and watch for.

Dominique Larue - Also known as simply Larue, is a lyrically loaded Emcee born and bred in Columbus, Ohio. D. Larue has been described as 'A breath of fresh air that brings her artistically sharp and unique perspective to today's Hip Hop.' Don't let her calm and controlled demeanor mislead you, lyrically she goes in with a vengeance and comes back out, still solid.

Monie Love - A certified member of Hip Hop history already, this spitfire Emcee originally from London, England is well respected, well connected and well received. Monie Love is a two time Grammy Award nominee and her contribution in Heresy is only a part in the ongoing and growing role she continues to play in Hip-Hop.

MyVerse - A product of a Puerto Rican and Panamanian upbringing, Natalia or MyVerse started as a poet and writer. A native of Orlando, Florida and a skilled wordsmith from the very beginning, she found that her talent for writing and performing was best showcased when fused together in the world changing art form known as Hip- Hop.
Together these ladies are a voice for the voiceless, a well-mixed combination of strength and femininity. In Heresy, they share their stories - and represent for women everywhere.

O.B.E. Vol. 1 is Breezy Lovejoy's (which was the name Anderson Paak was using back then) debut release. Originally released in 2012 it was one of our favorite releases that year. Since then we have been following Paak's releases closely and ended up becoming die hard fans. His ability to effortlessly tie together Soul, Hip Hop, R&B and a whole lotta other influences sets him apart from a lot of artists out there. He sings, he raps, he produces, he plays drums, his live shows are incredible.

We knew at some point this needed to see a vinyl release and after meeting Anderson in Berlin last weekend during his 70 city world tour with Watsky, whose album he produced, we knew this time had come. A classic in the making. Hopefully we'll also release some other releases from his catalogue on vinyl sometime soon.

Make sure to check for Anderson Paaks upcoming releases. He currently working on new music with Ta-ku, Iamnobodi, Knx and many more.

"Cot damn, this is fresh!!!!" Questlove - The Roots

* Sharp sonic behaviour doesn't cut much clearer than Razor's Edge. A Metalheadz side project saved solely for the specials, they've delivered some serious heavyweight heroics this year.
* Hot on the heels of Ulterior Motive's remix of Future Cut and Jenna G's 'Obsession' and Rido's tight-fisted 'Twisted VIP' comes this genre-defying rub from D&B's man-of-the-decade Rockwell. The timing is perfect: 2012 has been the most exciting, creative year for all forms of electronic music but none more so than drum & bass... The rigid rules of tempo have been ruthlessly torn to pieces as the scene's progressive players dive deep into new territories for inspiration.
* Jubei's original was a clear indication of this when originally released this spring. A monstrous half-step stomp laced with a devilish foggy funk, it played the ideal bed for Roll Deep's Flowdan to lay down his lyrical textures, flipping from stark soliloquies to double time message-making in the space of a bar.
* Naturally Rockwell's paid respect to every menacing nuance of the original with this remix. Oozing darkness from very instant you press play; the pitched down vocal triggers tremors as a trap-like 808 kicks in and struts deftly under Flowdan's crucial announcements. Complete with twinkle-light synths and heaving horns, it's a slo-mo juke joint designed to soundtrack your darkest psyche. A celebration of the very best aspects of the original and a neat showcase to his consistently unpredictable styles, Rockwell has stepped up to the Razor's Edge challenge in every way.
* 'Say Nothin' (Rockwell Remix) will be released as an exclusive limited edition one sided picture disc on Razor's Edge this winter.

Our small and heartfelt label Laut & Luise starts to get adolescent: Thank you listeners, dancers and dreamers for supporting the music, ideas and feasts of our family and friends - you made us grow! But isn't it also nice to be infant That's why we joyfully welcome our new younger sister >Luettje Luise<. The sub-label is meant to be a playground for sounds beside genres and borders.

Rye Rye - real name Ryeisha Berrain - began performing at the age of 16, and a chance meeting with Blaqstarr resulted in their 2006 club hit 'Shake It To The Ground', heralding an impressive list of collaborations including Diplo, Robyn, Toddla T, M.I.A. and more, with Rye Rye touring with the latter throughout 2007 and 2008 and appearing in the video for her global smash 'Paper Planes'. This time she's jumping on a spidery beat from mercurial West London producer and DEEK label boss Bullion aka Nathan Jenkins... 'I found an old MP3 player when I was back at my folks' house, in with a load of my old stuff, and it had this weird track on it... a dancehall rhythm made with a didgeridoo sample. It was labeled 'Bum Spider' and I tried for ages to google it and couldn't find anything (googling 'bum spider' brought some strange results) so I put a tweet out describing it but... nothing. Then my manager, who knows the producer Bullion, told me it was by him and that he must have sent it to me ages ago! Anyway, I called Bullion up and said I had to release this track because I'd become obsessed with it. Rye Rye came to mind immediately for a top line so I got in touch and she loved the track so got on it and came back with 'Keep Up'.' - DAVE MACLEAN, KICK + CLAP Bullion's productions are full of distinctive rhythmic arrangements and unexpected changes - owing to a short attention span and acute attention to detail. With a slew of releases on One-Handed music, he drew the attention of Young Turks, releasing 'You Drive Me To Plastic' in 2011 and soon after, R&S, revealing his own voice on 2012's hypnotic 'Say Arr Ee'. Forthcoming is 'Rooster', a mini album for joint release on Greco-Roman and DEEK. Alongside his solo output Nathan produces and writes with other artists. His collaborations include Gwilym Gold, Laura Groves & Tic Zogson (as Nautic) and Jesse Hackett (as Blludd Relations).

Now repressed and note new dealer price!! Jay Dee, aka J Dilla, emerged as a Hip Hop producer to be reckoned with in 1995 when his name was attached to the first single from The Pharcyde's eagerly anticipated sophomore album 'Labcabincalifornia'. Drop the needle on his first Pharcyde production 'Runnin' and you have the launch point of a producer's career that mesmerized, titillated and expanded the domes of Hip Hop fans for the next decade. 'Jay Deelicious: Originals, Remixes & Rarities' documents Jay Dilla's early production on Delicious Vinyl. Working closely with The Pharcyde and Michael 'Mike Floss' Ross, (Delicious Vinyl's founder), Jay Dee was instrumental in keeping The Pharcyde's second album as ear poppin' and bugged as their maiden classic 'Bizarre Ride To The Pharcyde', stepping up big time after the group parted ways with 'Bizarre' producer J-Swift. In addition to original productions and remixes for 'Labcabin', Jay Dee skillfully worked with the label on incredible mixes for the Brand New Heavies, as well as unreleased remixes for former BNH singer, N'Dea Davenport. From the jazzed out Rhodes syncopation of 'Sometimes' featuring Q-Tip, to the crazy cutting up of 'Got To Give It Up' for 'Saturday Night' featuring Mos Def, Jay Dee shows there's no tempo he can't freak on some otherworldly jazzed up funk tip. So put on your head phones and take a trip into the early work of a Hip Hop master. Umm Umm JayDEElicous! In respect to Dilla's legacy, all proceeds from the sale of this release will go to Maureen (Ma Dukes) Yancy. 1. Runnin' - The Pharcyde 2. Sometimes (Remix) - Brand New Heavies feat. Q-Tip 3. Somethin' That Means Somethin' - The Pharcyde 4. She Said (Remix) - The Pharcyde 5. Bullshittin' - N'Dea Davenport 6. Drop - The Pharcyde 7. Saturday Night (Remix) - Brand New Heavies feat. Die historische Zusammenarbeit kam in Folge einer Vielzahl von Studio-Kollaborationen zu Stande, die vor mehr als zehn Jahren begonnnen und dabei u.a. Klassiker wie "Beautiful" (2003) und "Drop It Like It's Hot" (2004) hervor gebracht hatte.
