Hot Creations prepares to welcome in a milestone release this March, as Riton’s Gucci Soundsystem project makes its debut on the label with Fuck Me Right feat. DJ Funk & Vula. Made up of Grammy Award winning producer Riton and long-term friend Ben Rymer, the single features legendary Chicago house veteran DJ Funk and esteemed Basement Jaxx vocalist Vula.

The single begins with Vula’s enchanting vocals, the likes of which open into rapid kick-hat combos. A funky, guitar-like bassline swiftly complements proceedings, as 4x4 drum patterns march on to create that four-to-the-floor feel. It’s an outright party anthem - as to be expected from Jamie Jones’ flagship imprint - but one that retains a soulful underlying groove courtesy of DJ Funk and Vula’s signature contributions.

Riton is a globally-recognised artist in today’s music world. Crossing the bridge between contemporary pop and underground electronic music, the renowned British producer received a Grammy nomination in 2017 for one of the year’s biggest singles: Rinse & Repeat. He followed this up by winning a Grammy Award in 2019, for his production work on Silk City (Mark Ronson & Diplo) and Dua Lipa’s Electricity. Since then, Riton has continued to work with some of the industry’s most iconic talents, including Kylie Minogue, The Chemical Brothers and Gorgon City to name a few.

Ben Rymer has been a stalwart of London’s club scene for decades. One half of Gucci Soundsystem and formerly a part of The Fat Truckers, the likes of whom toured with Jarvis Cocker’s rock band Pulp, Ben’s club history boasts performances across some of the scene’s most respected night time venues, including Fabric, London and Space, Ibiza.

Originally released on Toolroom in 2015, Technasia and Green Velvet’s huge summer anthem ‘Suga’ quickly became one of the label’s stand-out releases of recent years, soaring to the top of the Beatport charts within days and featuring within a long list of sets from a host of the industry’s biggest names as the two combined to offer up one of the year’s Ibiza tracks of the season. Now five years on from its original debut, Toolroom revisit the back-catalogue favourite this winter as they welcome leading talents Detlef and David Penn to deliver their own take on the production and offer up two huge remixes for 2020.

Harnessing the original production’s iconic vocals, Detlef steps up to take the reins as he delivers a driving interpretation guided by rolling metallic drums and swirling synths, before handing over to David Penn who introduces paired back, refined percussion arrangements alongside the track’s funk-fuelled guitar licks to deliver a resonant house cut and shape up proceedings in style.

Continuing Nu Groove’s new era of house excellence, one of Chicago’s most revered DJs Jamie 3:26 delivers his debut release on the label with red-hot two tracker ‘Live My Life / Feelin’ It’. An artist whose exuberance shines through on everything he touches, this Nu Groove EP is no exception, capturing his classic meets contemporary Windy City sound with the signature Jamie 3:26 flare. Teaming up with Rotterdam’s Jurgen Bouman on opening track ‘Live My Life’, this chunky house cut with its free-flowing groove, tough bass and Jamie’s mischievous spoken-word vocal captures the energy of a floor in full flow. A more stripped-back affair, ‘Feelin’ It’ goes deeper with soft keys and a lilting beat you can’t help but move to, perfect for summertime sets. Another unmissable package from the revived Nu Groove, Jamie doesn’t disappoint with this pair of club heaters.

Born from the friendship between Luke Solomon and Derrick Carter, Classic is above all else a family label. Creating a platform for artists to satisfy their artistic intentions with left-of-centre house creations, this release sees Classic return to its vinyl-only beginnings for Volume VIII of its 12” Label Sampler series. Kicking off the A-side, Classic co-founder Luke Solomon, Amy Douglas & Queen Rose deliver ‘Love. Hope. Happiness’, a joyous boogie-filled track destined to uplift listeners. Jansons’ ‘Less Ordinary’ follows featuring Liz Cass’ uniquely hypnotic vocal, with a devilishly deep bassline providing boundless dancefloor appeal. On the flip, Scotsman Austin Ato’s groove filled track ‘Heat’ opens, featuring choppy guitar riffs and a soulful vocal, this record radiates good energy. Wrapping up the sampler is Jaden Thompson’s ‘To The Light’ with warm synths and a gloriously deep bassline sure to captivate its listeners. This sampler is the perfect dose of Classic’s signature grooves that are always full of character, and with all tracks previously unavailable on 12” is not one to be missed.

Apollo / R&S are proud to present a compilation album of a series of classic EPs of timeless vibes and lush percussive excursions from overlooked Japanese innovator Mr YT AKA Yuji Takenouchi.
The 'Brand New Day', 'Southern Paradise' and 'Parfum' Eps were originally release between 1997 - 1998 on Apollo Records and R&S sub-labels Generations and Global Cuts.
Over the intervening years, the EPs' heady blend of atmospheric pressure, balmy pads and deep grooves has percolated, gathering fans across the globe, to the point where original copies are in high demand on the secondhand market.
Created in the late 90s on a hardware set up of Roland Super Jupiter, Roland JV1080, Roland D550, Yamaha TX81Z and Akai S1100, Takenouchi was burning with inspiration from the sounds of Ron Trent and Chez Damier, Basic Channel, House of 909, Ian Pooley and Carl Craig.
A video game musician by profession, Takenouchi was used to producing music for specific scenes / sequences - starting from scratch had him baffled. Deciding to set a theme or concept for each EP proved to be the breakthrough he needed, a day of new environment for 'Brand New Day', yin and yang for 'Southern Paradise' and imaginary fragrances for 'Parfum'. Looking at pictures related to each of these themes helped to fuel his creativity while producing.
From the sun dappled balearic haze of opener 'Morning' to the blissed out bump of 'Afternoon', the gauzy euphoria of 'Ocean In Heaven' to the cosmic funk pulse of 'Regard', the music contained in the 'Brand New Day' compilation remains as timely and relevant as the day it was released and should see Mr. YT appreciated alongside the likes of the US and European producers who first inspired him.

‘Borderline’ is the debut single from hotly-tipped Jamaican-Canadian artist and musician, SeeMeNot. Released on 18 September, 2020 and accompanied by a remix from Roman Flügel, ‘Borderline’ is available via SeeMeNot’s own imprint, Brainstream. Her debut will be followed by the release of ‘Invisible Me’ produced by Peace Division’s Justin Drake, and ‘Chez Renee’, remixed by Joe Goddard, all in the coming months. A 21 st century house anthem, ‘Borderline’ is a stunning debut that shows the power of both SeeMeNot’s voice and her lyrics, and has been championed so far by Skream, Anja Schneider, Solomun, Adriatique, TSHA, Erol Alkan, Adana Twins, Monika Kruse, Andhim, Tim Sweeney, Chloé, Marco Carola, Digitalism, and many more.

‘Borderline’ was sampled on SeeMeNot’s July 2020 debut mixtape ‘Long Overdue: The Sound Of A Revolution’ along with an excerpt of the powerful speech by Tamika Mallory in the wake of the death of George Floyd.

Reclaiming house music as a form of protest, ‘Long Overdue: The Sound Of A Revolution’ was SeeMeNot’s first creative work. Released via her Soundcloud page, ‘Long Overdue’ featured SeeMeNot singing a cappella over a mix from DJ Oliver Baptiste. The 30 minutes of music is the sound of a Black female artist detailing the journey of Black people from Fight to Flight, channeling the pain she’s experiencing – and experienced – into something beautiful that pays respect to her ancestors but serves as a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional healing through singing and music. Influences from country music to gospel are joined through a shared history of hymnals as both protest and healing music. SeeMeNot recently released a PSA on her YouTube featuring an acapella from the mixtape – “a childhood cover” of the late Ray Charles – paying homage to Black Lives Matter.

Expanding upon their recently released album Needledrop, which has
received support from the likes of CRACK, Dummy, Mixmag, DJ Mag,
Resident Advisor, XLR8R and more, the Remixed EP invites some of the pairs favourite artists for a deeper exploration of the album.
With a blend of jazz, electronic and downtempo, each of the remixers
instill their own production styles to reimagine one of underground
music’s most intriguing and genre-crossing acts into a new listening
experience. From Laurence Guy’s melodic yet driving remix of
‘Needledrop’, to Jackmate’s transformation of ‘Still High’ into 5-minute, experimental rework, the ‘Needledrop’ remix EP continues to reaffirm the original album as Session Victim’s most eclectic LP to date. Patrice Scott 90’s influenced take on ‘Isle Of Taste’ is a longer and more contemporary offering, whilst Dday One’s remix of ‘Jazz Beat’ adds a sinuous saxophone solo to fully embrace the experimental spirit of the original. The neo-jazz feel of ‘No Sky, Blue Sound’ is flipped to a slower tempo by Panoram, yet retains the explorative guitar solo heard on the album.

‘Silver Surfer’, ‘X O Surf’ and the ‘X O Surf remixes’, big tunes from the dance floors of 1993 will be rereleased via Violent Drum Recordings on September 4 2020.

The Deep, was the alias Matt Frost and Pete Diggens recorded under from 1993-1996.

Frost and Diggens released a stream of vinyl on own imprint Violent Drum and finished when Matt and Pete were discovered by Andrew Weatherall at Sabresonic which led them to sign to Leftfield’s Hard Hands label in 1997 as Dark Globe.

‘Silver Surfer’, ‘X O Surf’ and the ‘X O Surf remixes’ were created over a series of weekends in ’93. When you listen to the record you can hear Frost and Diggens try to create the sound of waves amongst the beats, they were also influenced by tracks like Pink Floyd’s 20-minute epic ‘Echoes’.

Getting back into the swing of things, Innermoods starts to ramp up again with another release from Toronto house legend Abacus (known for some great releases on Prescription and Guidance).

Her latest collaboration with Nosaj Thing, ‘CLOUDS’ is out now, and has received countless accolades and plays from the likes of 6Music and KCRW.

Recently hailed as “one of the breakout stars of the past year” by Mixmag, “How can I” comes off the back of an incredible 18 months that have seen Hye Jin go from releasing her debut EP IF U WANT IT to playing shows at legendary venues such as Berlin’s Panorama Bar and Ibiza’s DC-10, big international festivals like Primavera, Dour—a particular highlight for her, Melt, 88RISING's ‘HEAD IN THE CLOUDS’, and a personal invite to play alongside Jamie xx in London last year. Thompson aka Akasha System spins a suite of remote outpost rhythms and old-growth electronics variously inspired by “days and nights spent in the forests,” “long stretches of back road trails,” and “sitting alone under moss-covered trees.” It’s club music for misty mornings, towering redwood canopies, and overcast skies above uninhabited terrain: Echo Earth.

Recorded across the fall of 2018 at Thompson’s lava-lit Portland home studio, the album’s eight tracks trace cyclical arcs and seasonal tides, churning and yearning, meditative motion patterns flickering like holograms projected in the rain. Following key appearances on Elestial Sound, Neo Violence, and New Information, Echo Earth embodies all Akasha’s most evocative and elusive sonic strategies in a nuanced naturalist landscape of rust and radar, information and isolation, wires woven like roots beneath ferns.

David Agrella returns on his newly-minted Agrellomatica Records with three fresh interpretations of Robot Romance. Agrella is a DJ, producer and recording artist with a growing reputation as a versatile selector. Showcasing his musical inspirations across genres via his Agrellomatica slot on London radio station Bloop, the first release on his recently launched eponymous imprint gained support from artists including Moxie, Korea Town Acid and Jane Fitz, alongside high praise from the likes of Ransom Note, Vinyl Factory and Bolting Bits. Electric Nostalgia is an utterly addictive track that draws you in right from the start, as swirling synths and subby pads float above crisp breaks. Robot Romance slowly intensifies with fluttering chords that feel weightless, as the even kick drums meet an elastic bassline - providing a propulsive gem. Agrella's Transition Mix of Fallin', which closes the E.P comes with pummeling drums and muscular acidic melodies.

Malin Genie takes us deeper than deep on this new drop for his self-titled label. "Aventijn" opens proceedings up with a veritable plunge pool of submerged pads and steady ticking techno hypnotism - the perfect mind bath for all sub-aquatic travellers. "KIAB" has a dusty house groove to it, but it's still resolutely liquid in its demanour, while "Duppy" has a more pronounced edge and some intriguing metallic dub clangs at work in the mix. "Amulius Numitor" continues the dub techno theme without using any drums - just one massive gravelly chord pulse. Then the record trips on out for as long as you like with a batch of locked grooves for the trick-loving DJs to get creative with.

Providing the five-track Somethin’ For Tha Underground EP, two leading vocalists feature on the release in the form of esteemed reggae talent General Levy and American singer-songwriter Hadiya George.

Somethin’ For Tha Underground feat. General Levy begins proceedings. A tribal, old-skool leaning number, General Levy’s vocals add that signature jungle feel, as Mason’s four-four style marches on in the foreground. Ring Of Fire feat. Hadiya George comes next, manifesting as a soothing sunset cut packed full of emotive chords and warming strings throughout. The dub version soon arrives before Motherland ramps up the tempo courtesy of a rolling bassline and rampant kick-hat combos. Finally, Disco Punk brings things to a funk-driven close thanks to an instantly recognisable vocal sample.

Manchester DJ and producer Mason Maynard has built himself an exceptional reputation since first bursting onto the scene in 2017. Releases on Hot Creations, Relief and Sola have cemented his standing as one of the scene’s brightest young prospects, whilst performances at clubbing and festival institutions such as Privilege (Ibiza), Parklife (Manchester), Hideout (Croatia) and Space (Miami) have brought his sound to global audiences. In recent times, his Lookin’ At Me release saw him work alongside USA heavyweight leaders Insomniac, setting the tone for a new musical direction, with tastes of rhythmic Detroit style electro further establishing his ever-growing musical palette.

What a Summer (Sampler 2021).

This is the 3rd solo release from Meftah under his own Musha Publishing imprint, bringing another strong batch of tracks for all kinds of music heads. After his debut release 'Information Travels Through', Meftah followed up with a digital beat tape that only teased what was to come on the next record, and with this, he delivers. In true "Detroit Beat Down" fashion, Meftah's 'Life-Like' EP is a fresh perspective from the Motor City, while still remaining familiar to his roots.

Four of our favourite deep and lo-fi house tracks make their return on MISPLACED 02, plus a brand new vinyl-only beat from Marc Brauner.

Inner Vision also features four cuts, these courtesy of DJ Compufunk, aka Nao from Osaka. He's the founder of Compufunk Records (the longest-running record shop for House and Techno in Japan) and, as the four solidly crafted tracks show, an experienced producer in his own right. The vertigo-inducing title track struts aggressively with a high-velocity swing peppered by tinkling synth accents and acidy squelches, after which “Abyss” cools the pace for a sexier House style (a swishing drum machine detail even gives the cut a rather Kraftwerk-like tinge). On the flip, “Midnight Sky” grooves as boldly, this time with a smattering of Garage worked into its swing and chiming synths brightening the mix, while “Mind Power” changes things up with a swirling bottom end that's so dizzying it's positively gyroscopic. Dj Compufunk sn't averse to packing his productions with layers of dizzying detail, and as a result the stimulation level remains high throughout. Strictly limited 250 copies.

Geraldine Hunt's 1980 classic "Cant Fake The Feeling" gets the remix treatment from none other than Carl Cox. Featuring 2 new mixes from Carl plus the original and the highly useful dub.

"Can't Fake The Feeling" held the #1 spot of the Billboard Dance chart for several weeks in 1980 and sounds as fresh as ever... Carl Cox needs no introduction with a career dating 4 decades and still going strong. Oh yes.

Promo's, edits, mega-mixes, the record pools, white labels, acetates, reel to reels. All of the above were the weapons of choice for the disc jockey's of yesteryear, utilising these tools helped various luminaries pave the way for where we are today on the modern dance-floor.

Those 'secret' mixes, 'private' versions and edits of the hottest Disco jams that only the select few had access to could make or break a DJ's reputation in the clubs and on the streets. It is within this world that the For Discos Only label operates, sourcing the finest underground edits and mixes for the Discotheques. We carefully hand pick and dig for obscure or forgotten versions of the best tracks that may have been previously out of reach for the majority, inviting the hottest editors and mixers to open up their archives and share their secret weapons with us all via the medium of the 12" record.

Our second offering pulls together 2 of THE biggest edits from the last 20 or so years, so big in fact that they are regarded as classics of the genre. 2 absolute monsters that now fetch tidy sums in their original forms. That's right, we've asked the mighty Revenge to give us their versions of BOTH Hot Chocolate's 'Heaven's In The Back-Seat Of My Cadillac' AND Gwen McCrae's 'Keep The Fire Burning' and they agreed! We then cleared both of these versions to be released on FDO with the license owners and catalogue controllers, had them remastered and pressed onto a high quality 12" for your maximum playback, dancefloor pleasure. This is one essential 12" for any serious lovers of the Boogie, Funk, Soul and Disco underground, boasting 2 of the largest reworkings to ever come out of bonnie Scotland. Hard hitting basslines with vocoded vocals and swirling arps, Blavatsky & D.J Tolley, two veterans of the scene since the ‘80s prove their power on this debut EP for Evil Plans Records that sits right in line with the sounds of ALFOS and the likes.
