Tief welcome Jon Sable back for his second release on the label, this time backed with a remix by his New Zealand buddies Chaos In The CBD.

It is in this force that Yoruba Soul Records is proud to present the brand new solo album by Osunlade. In the time since his last full-length (2014’s Peacock), Osunlade has continued to rock parties all over the world, overseeing releases for both Yoruba Records and Yoruba Soul Records, AND still finding time to create music amidst a very busy schedule.

Recorded in his hometown of St. Louis, USA and spiritual home of Santorini, Greece, Aché is the continued evolution of Osunlade as songwriter, arranger, and producer. It’s all here.

The seeds of minimalist electronic funk Osunlade began to sow on albums such as Peacock and Rebirth are now in full bloom with the album opener, “Positiv’ly”. Featuring a subtle, almost avant-garde performance by Yoruba Records’ very own Quetzal Guerrero on violin, this groove will have you confused on whether to listen to this sitting down with some headphones or blasting it through your best speakers while you dance.

“Open Doors” is Osunlade at his funkiest. Starting with a drum break reminiscent of the J Dilla produced Q-Tip single “Let’s Ride” and accompanied by a killer rolling bass line, the song speaks on finding yourself and letting your truth carry you to your highest self.

“Community” is a float-like groove, with a guitar motif that both soothes and encourages a beautifully urgent and powerful call to self-determination.

The Aquarian Moon showers its lunar dust all over “Joffy’s Funk”, a luminous groove that transports us to starry nights on the mountaintops of Santorini. The composition provides us with one of Ache’s most elegant moments (of which there are many on this album).

On the other side of reality, we know there is nothing funny about the social resentment and anger that is currently building up in this historical moment. Osunlade takes us through why that is. Part-homage to his deceased father, part state-of-the-union, “Comin’ Around” is the sound of Devante Swing at a Black Lives Matter demonstration in the US south.

Of course we can’t forget our house heads, and “Same Same”, which we premiered last year in a very special limited edition single for Record Store Day, is featured here as one of the album’s most energetic moments.

There’s even some Piscean Group frequencies being dispersed through the serotonin-inducing “Seratonin,” featuring a magnificent flute performance by Han Litz.

“Poh’s Devotion” is an ethereal interlude that leads us to the closing segment of this album, a closing that finds acceptance, acknowledgment and resolution, hope, and inner peace.

This sense of renewal and outlook for a better future is deeply felt on “Flowers Bloom,” the last vocal song of the album. Osunlade proclaims “there’s no more room for feeling blue,” and a future “where governments no longer rule,” and most profoundly “I’m one, with God… at last.”

Closing this journey is “Solitude.” Accompanied by an ornate string arrangement, Osunlade plays acoustic guitar in a setting that could find a home in a Nick Drake album. It captures a poetic melancholy, not desolate, but of coming to terms with oneself.

Aché is an album that comes at the right time. A body of work to be immersed in its entirety. A sonic meditation for soul healing and recovery. An album that urges us, regardless of circumstance, to live by love above all and to let go of any fear that may block us from being us.

Legowelt delivers a very deep and mesmerising instrumental remix in true Legowelt style; spacious, warm and trippy. The pianoladen remix by Betonkust is probably the most powerful of the four, sheer clubgold, that, in normal times would have set dancefloors ablaze around the world. Spacefunkateer DMX Krew takes the poppyness of the track to another level, adding extra layers and a keyboardsolo. And last but definitely not least is Mr. Fix, Orlando Voorn with his signature funk sound. Strongly rooted in Chicago, funky basslines tummble over pumpin’ house beats and off the charts (and beat) synth leads. Twisting the whole track around.

On the A-side, -Paradigm- gets us off the ground with a headstrong bassline dripping 90s-aware acidalia. Harking back to the golden age of Destelbergen, a twisted voice makes short work of any presenting competition. -Prettyboy- takes things across the Atlantic, with reverberations of New York s heydays tangible throughout. Spinning around an ever extending groove, the tried and tested dancefloor drama slowly loses it thread and comes undone – before a skipping rhythm puts all the pieces back in place. Access the deepest cut on the flip: Laid out across a full side, -Serendipity- is an understated collection of accidents. With its undulating melodies stimulating the glowing mind, it crosses barriers between house music, techno, and the chillout floors of yore.

'Nude' is the most diverse and adventurous record in the catalogs of both artist and label. It switches between slick, downtempo electronica and driving club fare without breaking stride. Afforded the freedom that comes with a full-length album, we hear another side of Adriatique.
Adriatique prove themselves to be as adept at creating beautiful, melodic songs as they are driving club beats; the two worlds merging on this refined and truly singular album.

Finnish Producer Saine joins the BLR family with a four tracker of deep, sample-based house tracks. ‘Fade’ and ‘Movin’ are sure to be party-starters, whenever we’re ready to get back to the dancefloor. Meanwhile, 'Come Around' and 'Jangle' tap into low-slung aesthetics from days past.

LUKE VIBERT's first WAGON CHRIST release in nearly a decade released on PEOPLE OF RHYTHM RECORDS on yellow colored double vinyl and CD. LUKE VIBERT has been key in pioneering and developing the “trip-hop” or “downtempo” genre of electronic music over his long, storied career. Creating, sampling and using various instrumental hip hop and funk riffs, found electronic sounds, rare breakbeats, outlandish spoken word samples, and carefully mined sound bites, along with LUKE’s signature sample pack of sounds. All mixed up and bound together with those thick WAGON CHRIST grooves.

Hackney Vandal Patrol is a brand new project from long time friends and neighbours Scott Fraser & Richard Sen. Focusing on their joint love of that deep Miami/ New York house sound, Vol I is the first edition in a series of LTD 12s. Heading back to Richard's heritage of being a highly respected graffiti artist, each one is hand tagged by Richard in his own unique style and numbered with an insert by Scott. The first release, ""Bound By Faith"" is a straight up and direct for the dance floor Miami style deep house cut, complete with Reverend Jesse Jackson speech on the vocal version. For the DJ crews there is a deeper ""Redemption Dub"" stripped back ""Bass Hit"" with added percussion and a re-programmed instrumental of the original....The Hackney Vandal Patrol were once despatched to patrol the streets around the mighty London Borough of Hackney.

Returning to French label Happiness Therapy is Vancouver based producer Jesse Bru, with his first LP in 9 years ! Influenced by early 90’s hip-hop’s use of samples, Jesse Bru’s sample-heavy music production style is highlighted in this diverse 15 tracks release spanning from Anthemic Summery House to Jazzy Emotional Electro.



This double vinyl album welcomes you with a dreamy opening track, leading into 3 heady raw houses tracks with jazzy keys, high paced breaks, and nostalgic trance chords. On the flip side, there are 3 breathtaking tracks ranging from soulful uplifting breaks to introspective emo electro demonstrating Jesse Bru’s extensive knowledge of a diversity of genres.

Highly soughtafter by those who've heard Erol Alkan unleash it in recent months, 'Sound Test' kickstarts Phantasy Sound's 2019 - a rolling tool for a dance floor sliding into another dimension, constructed around a dramatic, numeric countdown.

A minimal, skeletal build builds hroughout to one of the most out-there breakdowns in recent rave-blotted memory, as the Axes slowly but surely rebuild their house to even more outlandish new proportions.

'Shabak Shalom' quickly snatches the record back from outer space and drags it deep into the basement, zoning in on the gritter, strobe-ready sound that defines the duo's most club-ready work.

All of the Axes' weapons of choice are deployed as unusually as per usual; militant drums, battered electronics, fucked- frequencies, wiry post-punk guitar lines and lovingly drowned traditional instruments blend to create their own special, slightly-menacing interpretation of hi-NRG.

Finally, on the unapologetically sprawling and immediately effective closing number, 'Kookoo Pa-pa', Red Axes demonstrate their inherent talent, if proof were ever needed, of conjuring rolling, simmering tension in otherworldly shades. 박혜진 Park Hye Jin releases her new EP “How can I” on Ninja Tune, the highly anticipated follow up to her 2018 debut, “IF U WANT IT”. The six tracks on “How can I”—completed over the course of 2019, primarily in transit as she travelled for the first time across Europe, North America and Australia—showcase the multitude of styles and influences that have come to be encapsulated in her output to date. On ‘Like this’ she pairs her own vocals over dream-like pads and grainy, driving rhythms. Elsewhere, the moody techno of ‘NO’ and footwork inspired ‘How come’ demonstrate an artist who is comfortable with pushing her own boundaries and moving definitively beyond any notions of categorisation.

Ben Gomori curates another unputdownable VA for his Monologues Records label with four killer tracks from new, emerging and resurgent names from four different countries that have been getting big reactions of late.

Copenhagen's genius-like Paxton Fettel has been destroying dancefloors with his piano-heavy, joyous sound recently on labels like Delusions Of Grandeur and Greta Cottage Workshop. 'I'd Like To Know You Better' is another fist-pumping jam that oozes positivity. London DJ Kristy Harper makes her debut in the production world with the slinky, pared-back disco groove of 'Uncle Jungle' - an earworm of a track which she has been consistently pestered for when playing in her sets.

Sub Club resident Harri has been slaving away over new material as one half of Glasgow duo Manakinz, with their heavyweight, relentlessly building and layered house sounds exemplified on the extremely potent 'Robopubez (Rust In Peace)'. Sounds from South Africa round off the EP, as now-London-based talent Maxime Alexander turns out a phat acid-house-rap jam with fellow SA rapper $hakes' irresistible delivery on hand.

Written and produced in 1991 by the duo Andrea Gemolotto and Claudio Zennaro, Atmosphere E.p. is the perfect expression of the Italian Deep House of the early 90s. The Sun, the Rain and the Wind the three elements that give the name to the three unmissable traces of this rare and sought after Ep.

The A side eases you in with ‘rauschsong’ - a stripped back soundscape of panning synth and muffled crackles. The title track follows, subtly upping the energy with a broken beat, throbbing synth bass line and guitar licks. ‘c.r.s.a.’ welcomes the first house flavour, as deep swelling pads surge and retreat over a simplistic yet powerful foundation.

‘jovian’ begins the flip side in hydrosleepchamber mix form, pulling you into a blend of delicate horns and intricate drum grooves. ‘oh boy’ truly strips it bare with a blend of out of this world sounds flowing before the closing track arrives on scene. The float mix of ‘cyber sweet’ features nods to UKG as icy hats and snares bounce along a bed of more enchanting pads and intricate melodic passages.

Sometimes a record comes along that is a wonderful anomaly that really is all about the music. Silver Leaf recently appeared on the radar via obscuro diggers on both sides of the Atlantic and landed with a Hey!
What is known about Silver Leaf, beyond that it was a short-lived mid-80s project out of Cincinnati, Ohio, is that it features ex-Zephyr keyboardist John Faris, working alongside the mysterious vocalist Silvia Leaf.
The difference between the blues and occasional psychedelic rock of early 70s Boulder, Colorado's Zephyr and the lo-fi recordings of Silver Leaf are striking, but in Hey! and Can We Rebuild Our City?, the power of the ballad and strong playing of John, is wrapped in mid-80s, mid-States lo fi heaven.
Whether a non-de-plume, Ms Leaf's searing, innocent vocals fly above John's keys and programming. Hey!'s repetitive exhalations act like a mantra to a party, while tom's chime in accompaniment. Here it comes!
Can We Rebuild Our City? starts with Faris' forlorn intro before crashing percussion heads to some kind of wonderful, as Leaf questions a calls to hearts.
Releasing just 3 singles, Silver Leaf's music is unique and essential, an experience and a delight to present.

Celebrating Osiris' 50th release in two parts, label head Simon Shreeve unveils 'Deep Summer' as the first: a downtempo, vocal-led track with a pace and laid-back vibe not usually associated with his Mønic alias. On the B side, a remix from none other than Burial offers a distinctly smokier take on the track, full of percussive melodies that weave into surprisingly major-chord territory towards the end of the song's ten minutes. This is a release that sees both artists pushing their respective music's preconceptions.

Back for his already third run on the label, Berlin-based producer Berobreo returns to Sundries to take care of the 2nd vinyl release in the catalogue.

Undeniably funky from start to finish, the 'What Can You Read On It's Thoughts' EP is all about those driving basslines and clean cut samples that have become synonymous with Berobreo's output over the past two years. While the A side, featuring the title track alongside another rather 'Delightful Affair', is probably the funkiest of the two with some serious old-school flavour sprinkled all over, the flip provides a bit more punch with 'Migrante' and especially 'Pina Colada' slowly taking this one into the early hours.

Felix has been working his Studio hard this past summer and caned out a whole bunch of awesomeness! We are more than pleased to welcome him back on Dirt Crew this year after his excellent new EP on 'Bobby Donny' and the 'Buster' jam for our 'Deep Love 2018' compilation. The A-side starts off with 'Between US', a cool, pump-y and jazzy track with a hypnotic tribal bongo rhythm that winds up in that typical Leifur swirl. Followed by the super deep 'Hamburg 3011' that flicks an off-beat mash up of soul, guitar samples and funk hi-hat vs snare groove that is just irresistible dance floor goodness, we can't wait to drop this on a massive sound system. Over to the musical world of that B-side! What can we say, Felix changed his style quite a lot here and delivers some bang on Electro with 'Pinot Noir 1985' that just bounces in yer face with a dope ass beat keeping those typical Leifur flavors alive with a warped piano loop and delayed vocal snips. Second is the almost garage-y tune 'Modern Soul Classics' with massive subs underlaying the 'Rhodes' and drum cut ups, moody and deep in his signature style. The closing track is a real Icelandic Bossa Nova affair! Silky 'n smooth again he works that piano loop towards eternity, we love this piece a lot! Reminding us of past 90s electronica by the likes of 'Sabres of Paradise' or 'Nightmares on Wax'. The best ending to this EP we could have hoped for! Enjoy this varied 'n eclectic EP by our Icelandic talent Felix Leifur and make your Autumn a hot one by dropping these jams on the floor!

Jhelisa Anderson's voice was ubiquitous throughout the mid 90's and beyond, her debut LP Galactica Rush had been released by Dorado to critical acclaim and Friendly Pressure was a huge single that crossed numerous underground borders, finding favour with soul fans and clubbers and DJ's alike, providing a late-night/early morning soundtrack to weekends spent partying, expressing and hanging out.

Dorado commissioned numerous remixes of this future classic, but it was Ceri Evans' aka Sunship whose 2-step/UKG remixes in 1998 solidified Friendly Pressure as a stone-cold pirates anthem, a total smash on the buzzing UK Garage scene. Evans had been a member of the UK's legendary Jazz-funk outfit The Brand New Heavies, so his sound was a swinging fusion of soul, jazz and snapping UKG drum programming.
Fused with Jhelisa's beautiful voice, the Sunship mixes are now regarded as classics and will undoubtedly bring the vibes to any dancefloor, sounding as fresh and soulful as they did back in 1998.

Friendly Pressure has been legitimately re-released with the full involvement of Dorado Recordings and was remastered by London's Curve Pusher from the original DAT's especially for Mint Condition. 100% legit, licensed and released. Iconic New York label Nervous welcomes Swiss-Chilean innovator Luciano as well as Sano and FNX Omar to remix a new single by Lou Gorbea & Jose Burgos featuring Nina Hernandez.

Lou Gorbea is widely known as a DJ's DJ, a veteran selector with tonnes of flair and a wealth of releases on key labels as well as his own Omi Tutu Production Company. Here he links up with fellow mainstay and long- time house champ Jose Burgos, a Defected and 4 To The Floor associate with his own rich sound.

Their top original tune 'Madre' feat. Nina Hernandez is a perfectly Latin tinged summer jam with trumpets, Spanish vocals and plenty of salsa in the shuffling drums. It's one to bring arm rays and heartfelt soul to any party. The alt version is more punchy and upbeat, with piano chords and driving drums making it more suited to the dancefloor, but it's still just as brilliantly musical.

Cadenza boss Luciano has long been imbuing his minimal techno flair and for that reason is one of the most standout names in the game. His first remix is scattered with claps and clicks, toms and triangles that are perfectly stringy and held together with a bold bassline. His Percussion Dub is more direct, with pacier rhythms and more tightly woven percussion that will tie mind, body and soul in knots.

FNX Omar is one of the pillars of the house music movement in Morocco. He brings plenty of Afro soul to his remix, with its loose toms and shakers all making you move while the vocal rings out with real gravitas up top. Sano is last up and the producer from Medellín, Colombia is now resident in Barcelona and has been a core part of the cult Cómeme family since 2012. His remix is perfectly tropical, with subtle steel drums and the exotic vocals adding sensuality and colour.

First up is 'Heatwave' by Cubik, a stomping house jam with soulful undertones and a pulsating bassline. Cubik’s clever use of vocals sets the track off, giving it an undeniable summer vibe. Following Cubik is Adham Zahran with 'Tender Sun Pin', a hands-in-the air disco floor filler. Infectious riffs, a throbbing beat and enough cowbell to last a lifetime, 'Tender Sun Pin' is an instant classic! Taking us into the B side is straight up bumpy house joint 'Visions At Night' by Jesusdapnk.
