Apollo is a new concept project from me, spread across 3 EPs which throw back to the 90s melodic Techno and Progressive Trance sound. Although my roots are firmly in Breakbeat-Rave, I was also captivated by the big room sound of labels like R&S, Guerilla, Hard Hands and Sven Väth’s Harthouse from that same period of time. My studio is full of old equipment that fuelled that original European sound so I quickly found myself focussing on a bunch of tracks that are heavily influenced by some really special music that often gets forgotten." " ‘Entity EP’ encounters both a happy spirit and two fathomless spirits who dwell in limbo ready to tell the first tale. On side A Wendel Sield displays two original cuts who embody the label's direction.
‘Missing Chant’ is an uplifting rhythmic track full of liquid Rhodes and layered percussion followed by sonic fm synth line. Where as ‘Obeah Rhythm’ takes the EP to a deeper spectrum with evolving pads and hypnotic percussion. On the B side Trinidadian Deep took a deeper organic take on the main track making an infinite flow of percussion layers accompanied by ever evolving moog synth line.
Obia Records' name is inspired by the Obiaman - a spiritual healer from Surinamese and Caribbean culture, often good, sometimes evil. Obiaman resides in the jungle where he practices magical sessions to heal the mind, body and soul. Rhythm and chanting is his tool to guide those who seek a deeper meaning or healing through a journey of music and dance. "

'LoveHrtz' return this Valentines Day with another two track, vinyl only single, and the vibes are set to maximum on this one. The previous release in the LoveHrtz series sold clean out, and is swapping hands on Discogs for silly amounts (not our doing!), so diggers are advised to get on this one without delay.
LoveHrtz chop out another brace of feel good, disco bangers, with ‘Music Makes Me High’ and ‘Sweet Style’ already picking up BBC Radio 1 airplay from Annie Mac and Danny Howard, and a handful of DJs such as Jamie Jones, Butch, Martinez Brothers and Seth Troxler giving these cuts some serious road testing in the clubs.

Producer & DJ Mall Grab has announced his new EP 'How The Dogs Chill, Vol. 1', on his brand new imprint 'Looking For Trouble.' The new release arrives ahead of Mall Grab's upcoming 'Looking For Trouble' tour, including a London headline show on 6th October at E1.
The 25 year old's latest record follows one of last summer's biggest house releases - 'Pool Party Music' on DJ Haus's ever-excellent Hot Haus Recs, as well as a collaborative EP earlier this year alongside Loods on Steel City Dance Discs, the label he runs with his friends Jarred Kennedy and Jackson Fitzsimmons. Having emerged in 2015 with the infectious 'Feel U' EP, the strength and evolution of Jordon's productions has firmly established him as one of dance music's most exciting talents.
The new EP arrives in the middle of another busy period for Mall Grab. Having played well over 100 shows in the last year, he just curated the London event Long Live Southbank - a one off fundraiser party supporting the restoration of Southbank's hallowed Undercroft skate space, which was streamed by Boiler Room. Having grown up skateboarding the event's cause was a particularly special one for Jordon. About to embark on his much anticipated 'Looking For Trouble' tour throughout September and October and with more shows through November & December in Japan and Australia, Mall Grab will close out 2018 on a high.

Introducing a fresh new label concept from Robin Ordell. No Time County’s focus is music that brings a feeling of elegance to the dance floor. A deep interest for sounds has given Robin a refined ear and a unique personal style, which permeates into his vision for the label. On this first release we get three slinky cuts, each one representing the label ethos in its own way.
The EP begins with a cut from Robin’s collaborative project with Bruno Schmidt - Asper Bothrops. ‘Track 21’ is dainty yet punchy, rolling with vigour for almost 10 minutes. Throughout, the rhythm keeps you locked in tight, swinging beats complemented by an assortment of bleeps.
Up after that is ‘Backwash Intro’ by Robin on a solo tip. This track fuses soul and retro beats to create a captivating composition full of energy and mystique. Robin’s penchant for unusual sounds is evident from start to end with an almost frog-like motif in its croaky cadence.
Lastly, it’s Rudoh from Karachi. Featuring alluring atmospherics and a hypnotic bassline, this is an enchanting workout. A range of organic sounding percussion pushes the track along, while tactful production techniques ensure that the energy builds steadily.

An integral part of the OPIA family from its early stages, and long time resident, Audri delivers their eighth release. ‘Tappo Di Ferro’ stretches across unexplored territory, making this a refreshing offering from the label. Opener, ‘Background Radiation’ steers through the synonymous rave energy we have come to the love from the label, chunky drums meeting with twists and bleeps. ‘Ihr Lied’ kicks off the deeper vibe, with distinct synths carrying the track. A different flavour with ’Zisco United’ upbeat, minimal flair, with a squiggling bass line funk! ‘Like A Train’ on the B side runs like a dream, ready for hazy mornings on dance floors again. Closing the EP is an intelligently arranged, sub heavy monster from the Italian entitled ‘9 Evolution’. It is no surprise the Demut founder has nailed this turn out on his closely affiliated OPIA Records. This marks his third outing on the label, previously found on VA’s ‘Elektropia’ and ‘Lyla’s World’ with single tracks, ‘Tappo Di Ferro’ marks his debut solo release on the imprint.

The second release on the Masaala label explores a brief time in the late 80s and early 90s, when musicians were fusing Acid House with Bhangra. One of Leicester's unsung DJ heroes was Cutmaster Singh, who for this record has revived a selection of his own edits from back in the day. Also included is Cutmaster Singh's massive 'Acid Agah', an unreleased 1994 dubplate that more recently you might have heard being championed by Mr Scruff.

Derek Carr is a name known by few and far between, with only a handful of vinyl releases in the early 2000s, he built a worthy but unfortunately not widely-spread reputation for putting together stunning deep techno.
Originally pressed in finite numbers, the records have recently found themselves in demand on Discogs, and rightly so, Derek's music is in a class of its own. Having been a big fan since his releases on then local (to label owner Ben) Leeds label Geek records, For Those That Knoe has dug deep into the archives to put together a sizeable selection of Derek's back catalogue, with some unreleased gems dotted amongst the classic must-haves, spread across three EP's
Part three in Derek's starts with Cuba, probably the most sought after track in his back catalogue.
It's stunning simplicity and charming summer vibe puts it amongst Derek's greatest works and understandably so. Red then slots into the 'A2' position which was originally released under the radar on a Headspace compilation. As warm as Cuba but with an added touch of melancholy. Truly outstanding deep house.
Iceberg takes things back more into techno territory with a funked up bass line, stepping rhythms, Detroit strings and those trademark twinkly leads. Finally Penthouse Apartment 3 AM a lush electro breakbeat track from the very hard to find Trident release, rounds off the EP with aplomb.

This time around he's debuting the ISKRA alias, which comprises more of the keenly sculpted, propulsive but healthily unusual brand of minimal house he's been known for, but with an added emphasis on interesting rhythmic formations. World-renowned British producer, musician and DJ Will Holland aka Quantic is set to release epic new orchestral-disco track ‘Theme From Selva’. Drenched in lush strings, bright horns, wah wah guitar and an irresistibly solid rhythm section; ‘Theme From Selva’ is a show-stopping entrance worthy of any Soul Train line. The 12”s B-Side features Quantic’s heavy disco cover of Paul McCartney and Wings’ spectacular ‘Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five’ (from their 1973 album ‘Band on the Run’), putting centre stage on the song’s famous pounding piano riffs.
Called a "one man music factory" by Billboard, Will has released over 20 albums under various pseudonyms since 2001; bringing together a deep knowledge and heavy passion for soul, disco, Latin, African, dub, electronic and club based music. Working from Brooklyn for the past six years, and Colombia prior, his sound combines solid musicianship and a progressive attitude with a genuine excitement and sincere respect for sharing influences from around the world.
Selva was built and conceived by Will and his partner Aziza Ali. They conceptualized a recording space and studio with ample natural light, the wooden-furnished grandeur of yesteryear studios, and spacious enough to house Will’s vast collections of vintage recording equipment, instruments and records. Selva also operates as a production facility, where writing, recording, mixing and vinyl mastering takes place daily. Releasing records on Selva, all made in this unique analogue recording environment, was a natural evolution.

After his acclaimed debut EP « Cotonou » on Alma Negra’s record label, James Stewart comes back with his new EP Atlantic River Drive for Mawimbi Records, featuring two collaborations with Ghanaian kologo musician Ayuune Sule as well as two remixes from Simbad aka SMBD.
James Stewart met Ghanaian kologo musician Ayuune Sule, after booking several shows of kologo music star King Ayisoba in Lyon. Stewart was quick to witness the bluesy tone of Ayuune’s voice and his kindness as a musician, despite his impressive stature. Quite logically, Stewart invited Sule to record vocals on two of his ongoing demos at Bruno Patchworks’ recording studio (Voilaaa, Mr. President, Da Break), with the idea of making a rather unheard crossover between traditional kologo music and contemporary styles that would both appeal to Ghanaian crowds and a Western audience. Stewart then had a number of his arrangement ideas re-recorded by a talented cast of musicians, resulting in a brilliant mix of acoustic and electronic textures, sounding both vintage and modern.
Nodding to Eddie Palmieri’s landmark record “Harlem River Drive”, “Atlantic River Drive” is a stomping dancefloor track, drawing from the 6/8 feel of kologo music and the energy of contemporary club music. The track can be read as a tribute to the musical cross-pollinations between the African continent and its many diasporas, which Stewart has dedicated a long part of his life to, but also as a more intimate story about his life and family. All words were written by Stewart and then translated by Sule in his native Fra fra language from Northern Ghana.
“Where Are We Going?” is a two-part journey that reminds us that we should care about each other, about our communities while we don’t know what the future is made of. An important and much welcome message to navigate through these troubled, uncertain times. Referencing congolese N’dombolo tracks, the track has two parts and rich arrangements, with its first part going deep with syncopated clarinet hooks and playful percussion parts, and its second part moving to a four-on-the-floor pattern and an entrancing baritone saxophone solo.
The EP also features Worldwide FM and Brownswood maestro Simbad, who delivers two dancefloor-ready reworks of the track “Where Are We Going?” under his SMBD moniker, turning it into a spiritual, dubby journey, as well as an emotional house music track.

Hotly-tipped Glasgow duo Manakinz are next up on Jasper James’ budding imprint Mitchell Street Records with a vigorous three-track dispatch.
Behind the duo is Jasper’s father and house music legend, James ‘Harri’ Harrigan, and venerable selector Affi Koman. Both are steeped in Glasgow’s rich musical history, with Harri being one of the legendary faces behind Scottish institution Sub Club with its world-renowned flagship residency Subculture, and Affi Koman is known for his lauded Sunday Circus residency.
Established in late 2018, the duo’s productions have bagged support from a long list of respected artists, including Andrew Weatherall, The Black Madonna, Levon Vincent, Ashley Beadle and Bill Brewster.
“A week after I got these tracks, I dropped the A-side ‘Snakehips’ at a Boiler Room gig and the reaction was amazing. Approval doesn’t get much better than spinning it through a road test and I’m looking forward to kicking 2020 off with this killer EP. ” – Jasper James
The EP leads with ‘Snakehips’ a frisky peak-time brew loaded with propellant, tribalised drums and a soulful vocal cut set to stir. On the B side, ‘Yamaha Rumba’ runs with the headiness, amplifying the atmosphere with a maelstrom of synths and skittering keys, and it hits the spot with the release of a lustful, lascivious female vocal. ‘Partizan’ completes the package, giving listeners a robust, heavyweight club track.

Distraction combines thundering bass elements from darker techno with deeper, emotive pads and flourishes to create a meditative yet driving late night groove. Best used to hush dance floor chatter in favour of getting heads down and putting a shift in.
Static and Choke also play with juxtapositions of light and dark elements, with Choke being the firmer of the two. Both offer sounds ideal for creating trippy and introspective dance floor moments, while not allowing those hard fought for energy levels to drop.

Following the release of his debut album, ‘sketches of transition’, UK house devotee Seb Wildblood has curated a brand new collection of remixes, inviting a cast of artists to reimagine tracks from the LP - featuring contributions from Suzanne Kraft, object blue, Ciel and Jenifa Mayanja. Running Back and ESP Institute affiliate Suzanne Kraft opens into the collection, offering a typically atmospheric, Italo-inspired take on sombre pop cut ‘amelia’.
Breakthrough experimental club producer and DJ, object blue, warps the easy-going pace set out in ‘sketches’, drawing focus to its woozy mood with muffled vocals and disjointed percussive hits. Swirling synths and a rich ambient tapestry make for an intoxicating rework.
On the B-side, Bumako Recordings boss Jenifa Mayanja puts a percussive deep house spin on the technicolor minimalism of ‘small talk’. A live bass groove pops beneath the track’s swaying synth beds and melodic chimes, making for the most “classic” dancefloor take of the bunch.
Discwoman affiliate and DJ/producer extraordinaire, Ciel, bathes ‘bahn’ in fluttering psychedelic percussion. Invoking the likes of Orbital, Boards of Canada and The Black Dog, with an emotional candour shining through the foggy atmosphere.
