Legendary UK dub techno pioneers Glyn 'Bigga' Bush and Richard Whittingham aka Rockers Hi-Fi, originally formed in 1992 in Birmingham. Rockers Hi-Fi gained a cult following in the early years of dub-techno and soundsystem culture with their psychedelic, bass-heavy blend of dub, house, techno, beats and drum & bass.
Rockers Hi-Fi first met when Dick was putting on nights in Brum whilst working as a carpenter, after Glyn needed work doing on his house, the pair got chatting. One thing led to another and they eventually set up a studio in Glyn's living room, where the majority of the first Rockers Hi-Fi album was recorded. Following a signing at Island Records in '93, the pair expanded to a studio above a piano store in the centre of Birmingham.
A lot of these tracks presented here were influenced by musical outfits like Mo Wax, Metalheadz, Shut Up & Dance, Scientist, and King Tubby. Glyn's and Dick's music also heavily sampled 90's hip-hop, and the classic New York house sound i.e. Kenny Dope, Bobby Konders, Nervous Records & Strictly Rhythm. Not forgetting the Birmingham Diskery, a record store where the pair found plenty inspiration amongst film soundtracks, spoken word LP's and other obscure records which became part of the Rockers sound.
We're pleased to present a selection of tracks from their formative years, mainly encompassing the club ready, dancefloor centred part of their discography. This reissue LP includes a mixture of sought after bangers, as well as some lesser known tracks which people may not have heard.

DC Salas’s second EP indeed is a tale of beautiful feelings: After his last year’s debut EP on Live At Robert Johnson called The Complicated Art of Dreaming, this fresh four tracker is a proof to his creative continuity.

A1 Did They Listen rhythmic structure banks on a pounding and effective combination of bassdrum, conga and cowbell, joined by a mildly distorted bass line figure, which embeds itself in a panoramic soundscape. A2 Beautiful Feelings introduces a remarkable striking sawtooth sequence, with repeated filtered and resonating variations, alternating throughout the track. On the flipside, B1 Within employs yet another bubbly bassline, keeping the soundscape wide-open to retain enough sonic space for that eerie, yet highly energetic Cosmic Disco touch. B2 Liquid Perception signature is a liquid acid bassline introduced in the second part of the track, perfectly befitting its track title. All tracks of this monolithic EP, thanks to its consistent approach to sound design, could easily be mixed subsequently with each others.

DC Salas is thirtysomething year old Diego Cortez Salas, a skilled talent with peruvian origins hailing from Brussels. A regular DJ at C12 and Kiosk Radio both in Brussels, Diego also co-runs Biologic Records with his mate Abstraxion since 2014.

DAWL debuts on UTTU with 5 sublime bleep house & techno kuts!

Tim ‘Nev’ Prezzano was born in June, 1969. A lifelong resident of New York, he studied Photography, Philosophy and American Art, before turning his attention to early computer language and music theory, and how it related to Human Psychology.

Nev was relatively unknown until a string of mysterious releases appeared on the UK based GPR, specialising in Techno and Electronic music from the early 90’s. They were 6 track mini-LPs; musical odysseys that had shades of early IDM, techno, electro and house. Nev’s musical philosophy was to extract the soul from the machines he worked with - he didn’t believe in artificial intelligence, but ‘software touched with life’. As quoted from a review on Discogs for one of Nev’s releases, ‘no amount of digital trickery can replace an artist with some synths, a sampler and a few good ideas’.

For Nev’s ‘Deep Beep’ EP, this observation is particularly accurate. Originally released in 1991 on the New York based label Metamerism, it came at a time when artists were experimenting with instruments and machines, blurring the lines between genre or style to get to the soul beneath their fingertips. The Frankenstein-esque nature of this sound can be heard across this sprawling 3 tracker, and the EP has garnered cult status online, with the few copies available reaching up to £100.

Sadly, Tim is no longer with us, following his passing in June 2018 from Type 1 diabetes.
For this release, we are donating the proceeds from sales to the JDRF, a charity researching and preventing the effects of Type 1 diabetes. We are grateful to give you this opportunity to enter the mysterious world of Tim ‘Nev’ Prezanno, all in good time.

Sometimes, looking back to the tracks that have been most inspirational yields very interesting results. In the last couple of years these four tracks stood out and share a deep sonic connection. All artists produced music in the early/mid 80s, played in post-punk, experimental and EBM/industrial bands and transitioned naturally into the techno, ambient and trance sounds of the early 90s, while maintaining an elemental early 80s live feel in the process. It’s no coincidence that these tracks date back to 92-94, a time defined by rapid technological change and a major political landslide.

The fall of the Berlin wall seemed to herald the dawn of a new era of peace and prosperity. The Cold War thawed, a sense of relief took hold, the West appeared victorious and the future looked bright. The emergence of rave culture seemed to embody this world of endless technological possibility and future optimism, techno-optimism indeed. Fast forward to 2019 and this optimism has obviously faded into oblivion, where the dream of universal freedom turned out be the empty promise of free market hypercapitalism beneficial to a small elite only. But thirty years ago rave culture was the product of that change and felt like a new home for those who discovered it. All these tracks are a precursor to sounds we hear today, an integral part of an ongoing cycle of trends where successive generations take over from previous ones. Rediscovery of that moment in time and sound is what Transition is all about, a collection of penultimate tracks that define that era.

Spaghetti Club 002 lands early 2021 with 4 cuts perfect for selectors and collectors near and far. The A1 lands from Sequalog boss TC80 who manages to balance the perfect grove and funk on this punchy number. A2 is from Parisian AlexKid and the UKs Pierre Codarin. In this collaboration they manage to find a trippy dimension topped up with some subtle 101 baselines, acid licks and dreamy synths. On the flip we welcome South America’s Samual Jabba with a spacey groove and super killer melodies to find that nice driving funk sound and switch up proceedings. Finally young blood and new comer Jentzen rounds off the ep with a very exciting track, especially for those who like their old style 90s tinged tech-house.

Suzi is excited to announce its first EP “Too” from NYC based artist Downstairs J who recently released his debut record on Incienso.

Downstairs J has a unique way of using detailed minimalistic sounds that feel organic and sharp at the same time.

His trademark “friendly chilled-out vibe” can be found in the opening and closing tracks of the record; “Soothsayer”’s slight digital-romance vibe gently starts the record ; “Mana4000” and “Orion” tracks reveal a newer straight forward club side of the producer; the A2 track is a tasty tech-house groover with an incredible amount of sharp bleepy details and B1 “Orion” is a playful crossover between house tech and trance elements. While “Symbiosis” ends the record with a warm and constantly growing flame that feels like an everlasting floating momentum.

An overall unique, intimate and adventurous record that rounds up perfectly the very first EP of the label.

Now for something a little different on the Make A Dance imprint, M.A.D 003 sees the first joint release on the label and welcomes rising Yorkshire post-punk outfit DEADLETTER to collaborate.

When we heard the demo for ‘Line The Cows’ we knew we wanted it and with Make A Dance being more of a feeling than a genre, we knew there was scope to collude. Two studio sessions later and we had it in the bag.

The first version of ‘Line The Cows’ is a combination of both the Make A Dance and Deadletter styles, a synthetic baseline providing a deep groove as the backbone of the track with Zac’s vocals cutting through like a knife.

The second track we recorded the band doing a full live take in London’s Pony Studios showcasing just how tight this 6 piece band are.

On the flip Make A Dance get to work with the remix package with broken beats and arpeggiated baselines, turning the track into a dark twisted monster fit for a 4am bass bin workout.

Ending a break of twelve years, The Villains Inc. returns from the past to deliver four lost tracks from the label mastermind himself! Author of a short yet remarkable discography on Dominance Electricity, Electro Empire, and Drivecom just to name, Italian don Gab.Gato takes this opportunity to revisit some of his classics by a quatuor of undisputed electro heavyweights.

UK veteran Phil Klein opens hostilities on A side with his outstanding remix of "Electro Empire". Originally released on German Electrocord back in 2003, Gab.Gato's version sees a luminous electro-funk treatment in pure Bass Junkie style. Needless to say this electro banger will hit you hard with its untouchable sub bass, oldschoolish tones, hammering drums and retrofuturistic atmosphere!

Italian techno / electro legend Max Durante, coming next, propels "The Villains Inc" cut to another dimension. Taken from the "No Light Or Shadow EP" (ATVS002 in 2008), the track mutes into a milestone of an experimental slaughter tinted with industrial sororities. Following a catchy Speak n' Spell overture, the song introduces some hot and sexy female orgasms, while a heading acid line enhanced by a straight to the point rhythm will drive you on the dancefloor.

US DJ / Producer Sinistarr on the flip goes deeper into the realm with his "Couterterrorism" rework of "A Scanner Darkly". Published on Boris Divider's Drivecom in 2007, the tune evolves into a completely fresh and transformed version. A frantic bassline carries you away on a fast inducing grimey dancefloor boogie combined with hi tones and no nonsense electro beat!

Last but not the least, Drexciyan Dj Stingray closes the EP with its groovy "313 Psycotropic mix" of "S.N.A", a tune written by Gab.Gato and Matteo Merlo in 2007 on "The Systematik Network Attack EP" (ATVS001). Stingray's mix sounds like a sonic, ethereal and thought after assault based upon cutting-edge sororities over playful vocals.

Craftily written and designed (artwork project by Gab.Gato, and illustrated by Simonloop aka Urbanmagic, in 2009 was prophetic on his own: clones programmed to reappear from the past), nasty "Reprogrammed EP" features the almighty ATVS signature we all know, a dark, magnetic and rough sound ranging from breakbeat acid-tinged to Detroit-influenced electro and techno style. Should we mention that this limited 12" (no digital) is expected to sell fast and earn the status of collectible masterpiece, just like the previous releases on the label!

The legendary N.A.D. follows up the aptly titled ‘Electro EP’ with the punishing ‘A Day in May’, a scorching hot four track technofunk monster that marries the Detroit and Kalamazoo techno traditions with classic UK techno. Absolutely exceptional high-octane material destined to set any dancefloor on fire.

Pannonia Noir is an all-Croatian affair: Zarkoff w/some sort of dark jack tracks & Honored Matres w/a style between Europian electro and minimal electronics. Both have a production quality born deep in the Zabreb freak parties. Pic sleeve.

Memento catalogue number 046 will be the first release of the label for 2022, a solid way to celebrate its sixteenth birthday.

Dj Rocca is a veteran Italian producer whose first releases came out in the late 90s, ad drum&bass and breakbeat cuts under the moniker Maffia Soundsystem, representing the legendary Italian club withe same name.

His four tracks for Memento are dance floor essentials grooves with a fine arrangement and an exquisite sonic flavour. Blending together retro drums and futuristic synth lines, dj Rocca has achieved to bring on vinyl a touch of freshness with a super organic arrangement.

WRWTFWW Records is so happy to announce Poly-Time Soundscapes / Forest Of The Shrine, a brand new release by Japanese producer Taro Nohara (Yakenohara). 8 tracks of pure environmental ambient bliss available on LP housed in a heavy 350gsm sleeve with an artwork from the artist himself.

Based in Tokyo, Taro Nohara is a producer, beatmaker, DJ, and music activist who made a mark with his electronic / ambient unit Unknown Me ( (of Not Not Fun Records fame). His new solo project, Poly-Time Soundscapes / Forest Of The Shrine, is a unique and modern take on Japanese environmental music, a free floating re-interpretation of the sub-genre made famous by Midori Takada, Hiroshi Yoshimura, or Satoshi Ashikawa (and more!) fused with subtle nuances of various origins: downtempo, hip hop, sound design, chill-out, experimental.

Conceived as a two-part adventure of contemplative peace, Taro Nohara’s organic soundscape takes you on a mind-soothing walk through time (or memories) and the beautiful mysteries of luscious forests - don’t resist, let yourself go, explore!

2022 Repress

Milagros del Ritmo is the third release of Harmonie Exotic, a label focused on reissues and compilations of obscure tracks.

The producer Jose Manuel, already known for his releases on Optimo Records, Music for Dreams and other labels, has selected ten rare tracks from 1988 to 1991. Starting as a DJ, Jose Manuel has developed over the years a passion for vinyl collection. This passion has also turned into work by creating the above mentioned label with the aim of bringing back the art of the past.

Milagros del Ritmo starts with the sexy voice of Debbie McKayle in "Necesito tu Amor". Her vocal mood reminds us "Sueño Latino " . The compilation continues with "Abadan" by Mondo Bagdad, who combined Arabic sounds with New Beat. Also in "Zena" (Dub) there are middle east and the first Chicago house influences. The next track "Mescla Del House", released in very late 80's, sees the Spanish vocal with the drum Roland TR-808. Then the compilation moves from Synth-pop with "Radio Arabesque" to the belearic downtempo with "Waves" by Ambionix and to EBM sounds with "Yoshua" by Danton's Voice .

In short, a brilliant selection of ten obscure, but at the same time floor killer tracks. Highly recommended!

Gottwax Records, the record label from Gottwood Festival, return with a record after a nearly 6 year Hiatus, featuring an EP from Superlux Records co-founder N-Gynn, backed up with a remix from Luca Lozano.

The Time Item label boss and close picnic affiliate delivers 2 classy cuts on the A side and a slick side project with studio partner Herra under their 'pH project' alias on the flip side. The EP glides through a mixture of breaks, electro and refurbished 90's tech house cultivating in an outburst of groove on the dance floor.

"UNITED", Tristesse Contemporaine’s new album is like a space shuttle, full of metropolitan and eccentric music makers.

Inside the shuttle: Narumi, Leo & Mike, respectively from Japan, Sweden and Jamaican-British. All "united" behind the unique Tristesse Contemporaine flag and led since the start by French label Record Makers (Kavinsky, Sebastien Tellier, Cola Boyy…).

After three rock & post-punk infused albums: "Tristesse Contemporaine" (2012), "Stay Golden" (2013) and "Stop and Start" (2017), they’re off to a new start and open a new cycle with their new opus "UNITED".

Who other than young prodigy Lewis OfMan, the one-man band behind hits like "Attitude" and renowned collaborations including Rejjie Snow or Carly Rae Jepsen, to join the joyous ride?

After hearing "Sly Fox"'s first demo in 2019, they convinced him to produce a whole album for them and became the fourth member of sorts, adding his pop sensibility, mixing genres and emotions with funky basslines, strong hooks, and digital arrangements.

A free-spirited album filled with irresistible beat-driven tunes thanks to Mike's thunderous voice, Narumi's sparkling synths and Leo's gleaming guitar, conquering new territories from reggae to 90’s breakbeat or New-York disco. A unique and united style glued together by a rare ability to switch moods and dynamics in a gleam of light, like a skilled DJ would.

After years of being lost at sea, the ancient scrolls containing the long sought after fragments of X-Coast were discovered. It was decided that the transcripts be pressed onto plates and scattered throughout the realms, so that the age-old knowledge may never be forgotten.

On the front side of the disc, we deciphered two XTC transmissions. The first, "XTC I" dates from the original session. The second is the final attempt known to us, "XTC V".

The reverse side unfolds with an interpretation of "XTC V" by the prophet known as Foamek, who brings it to new, uncharted reaches of euphoria. The next scroll, titled "Horns" is a real collector's gem, played just once before during the inaugural X-Coast Boiler Room - transmission Belgrade.

The plate ends with what we believe is the first X-Coast session ever recorded. Simply called "Horizon”, it was evident that the inhabitants of the island stumbled upon something legendary.

This is a one-time opportunity to obtain the scrolls. Do not let them fall into the wrong hands!

For a few years a while ago, Robert James was one of the hottest names in house. He ushered in the post-minimal era with colourful, accessible sounds that brought some much needed life and charm back to the scene. After disappearing for a time he returned with his debut album in May and now some of it gets some top remixes. Slapfunk's Anil Aras pumps a nice cosmic house vibe, Kepler does his tight, high tempo work and Thoma Bulwer & Anna Wall combine their skills once more on a clipped, punchy tech house version of 'Planet 90.' Laidlaw lays out some electronic drum funk with a fine version of 'Infinity' to close.

"When not overseeing A&R and label operations for Isle Of Jura, label boss Kevin Griffiths makes time for music creation in his garden studio in Moana, a sleepy suburb of Adelaide in South Australia. It’s an idyllic location surrounded by palm trees and tropical birdlife and an inspiring spot to fire up the machines, typically with the studio door left wide open to soak up the soundtrack provided by mother nature. The LP was recorded in the midst of the pandemic with no gig distractions and the sessions were heavily influenced by this backdrop of tropical birdsong, field recordings of which made it into most of the tracks. The album traverses Deep house, Nu-disco, Balearica and Ambient along with some leftfield samples and a sprinkling of Dub throughout. "

Raised on Colombia’s Caribbean coast and united by it’s capital, Bogota, Ghetto Kumbé combine the rich musical heritage of their home, to invoke the spirit of digital rumba in audiences all over the world. Das Ergebnis klingt vor allem ausgelassen, wenn Tom astreine Breakbeat-Tunes wie "Nervelevers" und "Terminal Slam" – klassisches Dancefloor-Material – vom Stapel lässt. Düstere Tracks wie "Vortrack" und "Mekrev Bass" belegen derweil, dass er nach wie vor ein Faible für perfekt ausbalancierten Psycho-Overload hat. After various EP's, remixes and compilation features, the Lower Bavarian Vienna-based musician and producer Sam Irl releases his debut album "Raw Land". Assembling his collection of analogue synthesizers and stacks of vinyl records around his MPC sampler, he chopped up, sequenced, played and mixed together twelve jams ranging from broken beat, dub-influenced grooves, disco-ish material to raw deep house vibes. The combination of vinyl fragments, analogue synthesis, the grit of hardware samplers and mixing on a vintage mixing desk from the seventies create punchy, rough, yet also deep and soulful grooves.

Growing up in a small village in rural Lower Bavaria, Sam Irl learned to play the piano and organ at an early age, later moving on to jazz piano and first attempts at music production as well as DJ-ing. The lack of an existing underground music scene in his home town provided him and his friends with a healthy need and rooted foundation to organize their own regular parties at a local farm and smaller venues in the area, including on the banks of the River Danube, playing eclectic music ranging from roots reggae, hiphop, funk, broken beat, nujazz to house, UK garage and drum'n'bass and to collaborate on musical projects, such as making beats for regional MC's.

He has been living and working in Vienna for over a decade as a producer and sound engineer while completing his degree (2015) at the University for Music and Performing Arts.

Besides releasing his music on Jazz & Milk, he has had releases on labels such as Pomelo Records (Vienna / AT, with Patrick Pulsinger), Frank Music (Berlin / D), Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Recordings (London / UK, "Kutmah presents Worldwide Family Vol. 2", with Richard Eigner / Ritornell), Pulver Records (Stuttgart / D), Bonzzaj Recordings (Bern / CH, with Dorian Concept), Fresh Minute Music (London / UK) und Bagage Musique (Munich / D).

He has also contributed remixes for Trishes (FM4 Tribe Vibes), Inverse Cinematics, JSBL, Aloa Input, Swede:art, G.rizo, Funkyjaws and others. Firmly rooted in hip hop culture, he has been making beats for several Bavarian rap artists. Apart from releasing his solo music, Sam Irl has made records as a member of "SKYMAX", a trio together with Finnish underground producer Stiletti-Ana and Viennese homie, Feater. He is currently working on a record and playing live shows with Patrick Pulsinger for their dub-heavy "Pulsinger & Irl" project.

Darüber hinaus spielt und featured Ströme noch andere analoge Synthesizer u.a. das Modular A100 System von Doepfer. Der A100 steht auch im Mittelpunkt bei den Live Auftritten von Ströme.

Das Album birgt Clubtracks („Trang & Flinky” / “Panta Rhei”), aber auch entspannend ruhige und spacige Nummern („Wasser” / ”Niki”). “Das Modul” oder “Isolde” (mit dem Schauspieler Anton Weil aka Anton Zucker), überzeugen mit einer Portion Pop. Hinzu kommen noch einige krautige, an die 60er / 70er angelehnte Songs, die Ströme (Mario Schönhofer and Tobias Weber) in sehr fruchtbarer Zusammenarbeit mit Nick McCarthy (Franz Ferdinand) aufgenommen haben - “Right Now”, “Das Modul” und das wunderschöne “Stadlberg”.

Following up to a pair of choice transmissions on Aussie operated imprint Vulcan Venti, Perth-based rising talent Hame DJ turns up on KOC with a debut four-track platter oozing pure elegiac acid vibes and transient, sci-fi-infused ambient, seamlessly hedge-hopping from UK bass to liquid jungle, through gauzy atmospheric techno and bastardized shades of Rephlex-style electronica.

Fresh as a cucumber, opener ‘On 1’ ushers its listener in a world of keys-loaded, faux-organic layers and rippling ’90s motifs. Threading its way betwixt garage, dub and piano house, the track brushes an equally vivid and dynamic tableau of shape-shifting floor-ready electronics. Starting off as a further mischievous affair, A2 ‘Zoot’ sounds like the outback cousin to Paul Woolford’s seminal steely burner ‘Erotic Discourse’ but soon evolves into a top-shelf breaky chugger that shall jam alien radars as much as it should have everyone on the dancefloor down on their knees in a jiffy.

Breaking the B-side in, slo-mo drifter ‘Nightlife’ turns the tempo down to ‘after-party sunrise’ mode. Implementing a lushly arranged battery of swampy 303 arpeggios, soft-spoken piano stabs and vaporous vocals, this one’s custom-cut for daydreaming with a bunch of friends by the Gold Coast’s idyllic seaside. Topping off that otherworldly journey is ‘Erosion’ – a FX-laden, hip-hop drums-strewn slab making the rounds between sepulchral, Kraut-dunked broken beat a la Tolouse Low Trax and post-Drexciyan synth wizardry. Proper mind-expanding stuff from a producer on the cusp of real big tings.

Cosmic disturbances cause emotions to run free throughout the local system on Cignol's acid-laced Craigie Knowes debut. "Misaligned Logic" is shaped in Cignol's signature electro sound across the 4-track EP.

Alexander Prosvetov, aka Marco Lazovic from Moscow, delivers an atmospheric tech-house track with a strong retro feeling of the 80s and 90s dance music scene; it emphasizes how deeply Lazovic explores the roots of electronica. Street Choice is a Russian duo of Artyom Vasiliev and Alexander Rodakov; the guys present a classic house production with a humming rhythm section and a memorable piano line on top. Buzz Compass is Andrey Bychenkov and his «Make A Baby» is a perfect laid back start to an evening pre-party with lots of live instruments and no rush. From deep inside the inner workings of L3 Liverpool comes the latest instalment from the city’s very own, Aerofunk. An EP built through atmospheric melodies, break scattered percussion and the heavy sub-driven, relentlessly shifting basslines he is becoming renowned for.

The EP opens itself out into true break-funk fashion with ‘The Definition III’, setting off via back-and-forth percussive movements with hints of hypnotising, atmospheric keys, that pave the way for one of his signature hard hitting, scattered basslines.

Moving in an ever forward style, ‘Funky Breaky West’ cranks up the level for the A-Side. The repetitive bassline layered beneath a kick that skips itself in-and-out of various timings throughout the track, alongside staple, party worthy snare and hat crashes, guide the music on course before delightfully introducing an added touch of flavour with two competing basslines that work together perfectly, hand in hand.

To the flip, there’s no time for pause, as ‘Zezwa’, a track built upon a differed style to its predecessors yet sugar coated in the unmistakeable A-F style, noticeably designates itself in a groove to make its listeners relentlessly move. Throughout and just in ear shot, riding their way throughout that background, is the unmissable sound of scurrying hats and cow bell strikes that seem to make spontaneous decisions for their choice of inclusion.

The B-Side close out supplies an ending filled with a stripped back groove, plied by guided reverberating horn sounds that give off a sense of alarm aimed to draw a mind to the fullest attention. All the while, the music shifts itself on in true, groove driven funk fashion. The keys and atmospheric tones that work themselves in midway through the track are worthy of noting, as if to cultivate the way for that melody one could easily mistake to have been designed by the touch of a musical robotics lab.

Twenty’s plenty (apparently), it’s also the number we use to welcome our first artist from the US of A into the fold, Detroit USA to be exact. Francois Dillinger has been doing his thing on labels This Ain’t Bristol, Natural Sciences and Anabatic Records plus others, fusing deep melodic Techno with 909 laden broken beat Electro.
With this his inaugural release for us, he brings a fusion of these trademark sounds as the lead track Infinite eases you in with sparse punchy drums and brooding bass line before spooky Arabic style horns beckon us in further. It’s a hybrid between Electro and Techno with a drop ominous enough to make even Freddie Krugger think twice about staying in the club! It’s a track that’ll be heard on the floors of Berlin, Ibiza or even a few Miami Booty Bass pool parties (see enclosed DJ Feedbacks)!

2019 was a year full of celebrations for Nicolas Duvoisin. Not only did his label Fantastic Friends turn 10, he also celebrated his 20 years of career as a DJ/Producer and, last but not least, he experienced the joys of becoming a father for the first time. It was clearly this powerful emotional context that pushed Nicolas Duvoisin to work on a more substantial project, exploring wider horizons and stepping out of his comfort zone.

“Mon Premier” is definitely a testament to the artist’s maturity and courage, displaying more sensitivity and intimacy than what the usual club night behind the decks generally allows. Nicolas took the freedom to let his inspiration bring him into unknown territories, working without a particular framework, style or label in mind and starting from scratch for each track of the album. The challenge was also to experiment with new writing approaches and techniques, in order to lose some of the methods and habits many artists get trapped into at certain points in their careers.

The result is an eclectic collection of sounds, moving through dub, ambient, minimal and house, patiently put together in Nicolas’ studio near Lausanne, away from the frenzy of the dancefloor. Dive into Nicolas Duvoisin’s ever-expanding universe and enjoy the ride.

This 4 track Ep delivers tough yet melodic Drexciyan sounding electro cuts that are set to cuase devistation on dancefloors around the globe.

To its round anniversary Dizzy Tunes presents a limited Vinyl-Only 2-track release by the Cologne producer Stefan Gubatz.

Besides his engagement with the well known Acid House Act Snuff Crew, Gubatz releases jam sessions under the name Dirtbox Jams at irregular intervals. The concept demands to only use music hardware such as synthesizers, drum computers and sequencers.

The title track “Warning” is an electro monster pervaded by heavy hitting TR-808 and TB-303, which builds up an uncanny tension over its entire playing time of 10 minutes and culminates in an extatic acid excess.

On the other hand, “Saturday Night Jam” on Side B comes along more calmly but also unfolds its charming effect over a full 10 minutes. Here, Gubatz reflects on Detroit Techno virtues and reverts to the legendary sound of the TR-909 and the Juno 106. Of course, the TB-303 is not to be missed either.

We once again call upon Jorg Kuning for his sonic offerings. In answer, he has delivered four bubbling, pulsating tracks that ooze with organic vitality. The fruit of Jorg’s labour comes shrouded in morning mist from the Black Mountains, their meticulous details expanding and collapsing like dew drops in earthly pools.

The record begins with ‘Simmons’. Deep, amphibious sub bass drives the elements in perpetual forward motion. Atonal squeals wriggle through the undergrowth, cutting swathes of space to make room for the chords; whose arrival descend like manna to nourish us in all their microtonal glory.

We then ramble onto ‘Transplant’. Joyful squelches tumble around an Entish kick drum; the healing vibrations of which swell with the clinical serenity of the jazz indebted stabs. Pads swell and shine above the vegetation, leaving fractal trails in their wake.

The B side marches on with ‘Dripgroove’. The crystal clear, angular elements are playfully squeezed out of Jorg’s machines. The rhythm section approaches us with primeval generosity, until the quaking tension is finally released and the dam is open.

The holistic ‘Bodyscan’ concludes the trip. Beginning with gentle warming movement, the energy quickly takes a decidedly more twisted turn. When the sun sets on the shimmering keys, Jorg’s synthetic seagulls signal our return to the murk; the ensuing groove driving us deeper towards the earth’s core.

nother special project for the U Know Me Records' 10th birthday is a unique collabo of NOON and the Normal Bias duo. A brilliantly pressed black vinyl appears only in hand-numbered 200 copies.

One of the most established Polish producers Mikołaj Bugajak (NOON), has never made a secret that NB is one of his favorite Polish electronic projects. When Mikołaj mastered the Normal Bias album (released in January 2020), their further cooperation was only a matter of time.

Steven Rutter aka B12 is one of techno’s most influential artists, famed for many releases on the iconic Warp Records including "Electro-Soma" that defined what is now the deep techno genre.

B12 was originally a duo before Steven Rutter took over the alias as a solo artist, but after a string of new releases on labels like Soma and Delsin, he decided to start producing under his own name.

Deciding it was time to look to the future with a new lease on life, Steven Rutter kept his sound the same, but shed the skin of B12 to mark a new point in his musical career.

Battling with personal demons, the B12 sound had become dark and introverted, and the Steven Rutter style keeps that same moody atmosphere, while adding upbeat rhythms and more jovial chord progressions without losing focus of the core sound that’s made his music so influential.

In addition to a numerous EP, “Riddle Me Sane” is the third album Steven Rutter has done under his own name, and it's in the timeless B12 style that's adored by his fans in all four corners of the world.

The stylish Colours is a taught, driving house track with slinky hi hats and rubbery drums. The monstrous bassline bobbles away down low and is sure to lock in any crowd. Django is another inventive groove, with lush claps and a knotted bassline that drives the track along beneath infectious percussion and silky smooth synths. Switchin is the most raw of the lot with its busy leads, razor sharp tech house drums and glitchy effects. Add in some turbocharged chords and you have a sleazy and standout banger.

Celebrating our tenth release, First Cut delivers the label’s first split release. Like the arbitrary scheduling of our hometown Dublin’s bus system, it took a while for these tracks to appear – and then they all came at once!

Tr One drops ‘Fold’, a rousing house track, led by insistent piano keys and tough drums, while on ‘Crash2’, Lerosa delivers a wonderfully sub-aquatic electro-techno jam. Bringing the listener back to earth with a driving bass and powerful rhythm is Giles Armstrong’s ‘Deep is For Dopes!’

Anyone who has had even half an eye on the electro scene over the past decade will already be familiar with Emile Facey aka Plant43's unique sound, mixing an uncompromising approach to off kilter rhythms and machine-led funk with an emotive and powerful use of melody. This trio of ultra fresh tracks were penned for recent live shows in The Hague and Berlin and are brimming with the energy and excitement Facey felt on his return to the live circuit. 'Remote Signals' is led by a booming kick drum heavy enough to command any audience with Facey weaving ever more complex webs of melody around it. 'Searching The Skies' builds a mysterious atmosphere based around a call and response between characterful melodic elements while 'Constantly Morphing Entity' closes the EP with a flourish of forward moving beats and an SH101 bass line designed to move any dancefloor.

The first X-Kalay release of 2022 finds Melbourne’s Escape Artist traversing wormholes, complete with an assist from the ever-prolific Roza Terenzi.

Picking up where a 2019 Salt Mines debut left off, ‘Wanna Dance’ allows proggy tendencies to flourish across some mind-altering electro. Portals to higher planes of consciousness and uncharted star systems fling open as widescreen, celestial pads make way for lysergic climax.

Ramping up the intensity with her ‘Bassbin Mix’, Roza Terenzi jumps on remix duties; another electro workout, but this time more urgent, more propulsive. Bringing the tribal-breakbeat pressure in spades, it’s quintessential Terenzi.

More prog, but leaning further towards cosmic techno percolation, ‘Levitator’ finds mazy arpeggios in seemingly infinite ascent. ‘Time Knife’, on the other hand, is a radiant, beatless highlight. Deploying cascading synth arps to truly mesmeric effect, it sees the Antipodean achieve sublime tension in a rare moment of introspection.

SONIKKU announces the release of their new album ‘Joyful Death’, via Bella Union. “I love songs that make you want to cry and dance at the same time,” says Tony Donson, the London-based musician who records as SONIKKU. That sense of unfettered release and liberation drives their new album, ‘Joyful Death’. A fluent, fertile and full-colour hybrid of vibrant Italo-house, liquid synth-pop, righteous disco and French philosophical asides, it’s an album that signals the emergence proper of SONIKKU - a fully formed dancefloor artist. It’s also a farewell of sorts, perhaps, but with an emphatic rebirth at its heart. “This album feels like a transformation in the sense that I’m creating the music I’ve always wanted to make. A fully realised, coherent pop record that showcases my craft as a song-writer and producer.” Total control of their craft is swiftly asserted on ‘Let The Light In’, where the
influences of lost-in-music disco and the Pet Shop Boys merge under vocals from immersive, exploratory British singer-songwriter Douglas Dare. The pace accelerates as ‘WKND’ gets into a groove pitched somewhere between Madonna, Daft Punk and Indeep, with LA future-pop singer LIZ primed for dancefloor abandon on vocals. Meanwhile, SONIKKU’s independent intent is firmly asserted on the freestyle-inspired ‘Don’t Wanna Dance with You’, where singer Aisha Zoe coolly brushes off unwanted advances in favour of dancefloor pleasures.
LIZ assumes vocal duties again for ‘Sweat’, a song fully equipped to make dancefloor devotees do as its title suggests. Dreamily melodic evidence of SONIKKU’s dynamism (and love of melancholy Swedish electro-pop queen Robyn) beckons on ‘X Hopeless Romantic’, where Little Boots contributes a sweetly loved-up vocal over a sublimely
infectious chorus. Pummelling synths signal a dramatic shift of pace on the almost electro-darkwave dash of ‘Remember To Forget Me’, where actor/singer Chester Lockhart presides over a summit meeting between Depeche Mode and New Order. Performance artist Tyler Matthew Oyer takes the vocals for the Italo-disco-inspired title-track, a vividly imagined album manifesto - of sorts - inspired to varying degrees by an 1892 poem, French thinker Gilles Deleuze’s concept of the “body without organs” and a 1997 anime called The End Of Evangelion. Finally, that grand piano takes over as Dare returns, presiding over an achingly stripped-back version of ‘Remember To Forget Me’. With help from friends and artists they admires on vocals, ‘Joyful Death’ is a hugely confident and self-contained leap forward for SONIKKU after his time as a feted DJ. Having moved from Derby to London at the age of 18, Donson worked as an intern (at MTV, Dazed & Confused, SHOWstudio and elsewhere) then turned to DJing (from
London to Tokyo, Paris and Berlin) after they were signed to London label Lobster Theremin. Though they continues to DJ regularly at Tottenham’s LGBTQ rave-up Adonis, they have extra ambitions in mind: “I love DJing but I’m more looking forward to developing a live show.” LP pressed on mint green vinyl with digital download.

Danger! Danger! High Voltage! King of bad-ass electro-funk Gary Gritness returns to Hypercolour with an electrifying release of super slick, powered up, body poppin’ jams!

Plugging into the mainline, Gritness lets rip with four bustling joints on the ‘Power Charge’ EP. Frenetic drum machine patterns, feverish bass lines and quick fingered keyboard riffs are laced across every track here, all designed to blow the circuits of your mind!

Rising Welsh producer // DJ Harrison BDP has been making some serious noise as of late, with a string of stand out releases on Phonica, Berg Audio & Lost Palms. This time making his debut on Shall Not Fade with some of his most weighty productions to date. ‘Sound Expansion Meditation’ takes the listener on a voyage of discovery with spacey synths, dusty drum sequences and floating bass riffs.

Melbournian Kayroy artfully blends varied influences to deliver a stunning, dynamic and exciting EP, venturing deep into the depths of fizzy prog & cyborg disco.

Neapolitan producer Partenope certainly wears a big Underground Resistance influence on his sleeve in the case of 'Odysseia' - it's even mentioned in the press release, and we're not going to argue either. But it's no bad thing, especially as it's a general love of the soulful, uplifting, musical end of the techno scale rather than a creative plunder of any UR track in particular. The label has pulled out the big guns with a Gerd Janson remix to accompany it too, and Janson certainly warm acid trance

“On & On” by Mach is the record that inspired Jesse Saunders’ “On and On”, released in January 1984 on Chicago’s Jes Say Records. The story goes that Saunder’s copy of Mach’s record was stolen one night, so he decided to create his own version—marking the birth of House music.

Peggy Gou’s Gudu Records presents a landmark EP of original music by Dea - a legendary Indonesian DJ and artist who counts DJ Harvey, Mr. Scruff and Gilles Peterson (who famously claimed that Dea was the best DJ he’d seen in a decade after watching him spin in 2017) among his admirers.

Making his name in Indonesia’s Sun Down Circle collective, Dea has gone from one of his country’s best-kept secrets to one of the world’s most respected diggers and DJs. His EP for Gudu is his most extensive collection of solo music yet, backed with a transcendent remix by I:Cube - the few-more-acclaimed French artist famed for trading remixes with Daft Punk in the 90s and decades of brilliant solo music since.

Besides being a school teacher, a dedicated dj, a label boss and a party organiser, Utrecht’s most famous fluo-raver Freek Fabricius also started producing a few years back. It’s hard to believe that Lost My Controller actually is Fabricius’ debut EP. So matured and full of character do the six tracks on this release sound. With a touch of vintage electro and the melancholic side of IDM, yet with a unique sound of its own. Lost My Controller has Fabricius’ trademark tongue-in-cheek puns, like the videogame frustration in the title track, a sweet hybrid of Dopplereffekt-basslines and AFX-infused melodies. Or on the aptly titled Pigs Are Here, where a stomping kick and gloomy synth set the pace. Halfway through we suddenly receive a ‘breaking news message’ about an illegal rave somewhere on the shores of northern England, complete with an eye witness report. Images of running ravers immediately pop up. Fabricius does not hide his admiration for Richard D. James on Lost My Controller. On the contrary. He cultivates it and makes it his own. ‘Aphex Twin is one of the few artists that can make me cry’, he once said in an interview. He meant it. Lost My Controller has some beautiful intimate moments, like the sampled rain on his attic window during ‘Zolderraam’ or the rolling closing track ‘Mother’. In which a vintage Underworld- esque beat gently rubs against Laurie Anderson’s legs. Freek’s EP is joint release between SoHaSo and Marguerita Recordings, the label run by fellow Utrecht dweller Cosmic Force. They couldn’t have wished for a better debut record.

For the third release label decided to spoil you with a four-track record from various artists that can trigger caustic dreams.

"Way back in the 1990s, Mark Hand, Neil Iceton & Jez Nicholl channelled their love of sci-fi-fired Motor City techno into a string of inspired releases under the alias Cubic Space Collective.

After reuniting for a memorable machine jam at Freerotation festival in 2016, Hand & Iceton headed back into the studio for a one-off session and recorded 'Holiday in Beta Centauri', a musical love letter to Mad Mike and the rest of Detroit's most militant futurist techno crew.

Sending us surging skywards via 'Binary System', where lilting lead lines, fizzing electronics and enveloping chords dance atop a snappy, cymbal-heavy drum machine rhythm, before 'Arps in Hyperspace' sees them step things up a notch via layered waves of synths, sparkling melodies and a driving, hyper-speed groove.

The North-East-based twosome then attempt to warm us to the core in the shape of 'Rigil': restless organ stabs, undulating Michigan bass, alien electronics, psychedelic acid lines and Galaxy 2 Galaxy style chords catching the ear. Bringing us gently back down to earth, they complete their deep space mission with 'Beyond The Nebula (Holiday in Beta Centauri)', a bustling electro number full of stabbing analogue bass, star-burst electronics, meditative ambient chords that shimmer full of night-sky melodies.

A fine return to action for this Teesside UR-loving techno twosome... 3,167 miles away in Detroit, their achievement will be noted."

Frame Of Mind is back with a re-issue of another unknown gem from the early 90's. UK production team Dave Campbell and Viv Beeton are most known for their UK techno, rave and bleep classics as Ubik. It is under the alias of Timenet they released an obscure white label in limited quantities in 1992. This untitled and one-off 3-tracker remained fairly unknown up until today. It shows quite a different side of their stunning production talents. Dishwasher is a rough drum machine work out topped with a wild bleepy SH101 synthline a la Mr Fingers. DX Moods is a spaced out techno tune combining mysterious pads and crazy DX-100 programming. With On The Move the UK pioneers come closest to their Ubik sound: Mad UK techno with a hint of rave. A previously unreleased and stripped down version of this track is included as well.

Kreisless first release kicks off with four minutely worked tracks by Berlin based artist Goris Lecker. A trip through acid sounds synth melodies, energetic rhythms along with deep enticing atmospheres. Starting with Nonsaude, a prominent breakbeat enriched by a subtly distorted bass and an euphoric stab. Followed by Frust switching to a dark late-night mood where techno sounds hoard the track. On the B side jazzy Rhodes chords show up with Donin where a hypnotic 303 synth loop takes the lead. Ceibo culminates the record with a sound journey of melodies and effects.

Weleli, originally released by Victor Diawara under his latest project
Afrodelic, carries a deep and very personal story. It speaks of loss,
crucial life decisions and paying tribute to one's roots. But like every
great story, it doesn't stop with simply being told. And this EP offers
four new versions of Weleli, interpreted and narrated by a good friend
of Victor, Ten Walls.

It opens with Remake that maintains the reverie and a certain
melancholic peacefulness of the original. Featuring electric guitar,
bass and synths, along with ngoni, balafon and the Malian children
choir, it stays true to the original Afrodelic style: a mix of African
and electronic music. The following Acoustic Edit is the most serene
take on the song of them all. It's a stripped-down version dedicated to
highlight and give space for the vocals, traditional instruments and
percussive elements.

Remixes are without a doubt pieces of Ten Walls creation. The mood
changes quite a bit to a colder and much more aggressive vibe. The
faster tempo and heavy synths give the African elements almost a tribal color, instantly making the song even more danceable. Remixes is where the song truly shines in new light, making it a true collaboration combining the talent of both musicians.
