barac is clearly one of the most prolific producers on the romanian scene today. he may not release much but his tracks have already found their way into many extraordinary mixes. this is his second ep after voyetra was released on natural last year. this time he delivers 6 tracks on 2 vinyls.
marea neagra is sure to make you remember at least one sunrise somewhere if not every sunrise everywhere. you'll definitely remember the track anyway. its action time on side b with does it float and muntibasului doing a straightforward job for the dance floor.
side c presents another epic masterpiece from mr barac. farm ursul polar comes from the same sonic place as mare neagra but this one seems made for the sunset ! both tracks on side D are pure tech house gems, the names are explicit

yet another new romanian instalment in our roster. Metereze's first release sees Dubtil (one half of production duo NoiDoi) present his solo debut. in great syle we may add. both tracks are dance floor oriented, the sound metereze is keen on keeping close to. Odinioara is a classic tech house track, sprinkled with subtle percussions and deep pads. Remaked seems to be less powerful at first but it proves to be by far the more energetic one. trippier also. the killer house groove combined with the proggy percussion may give you a hint about what is in dubtil mind right now. in his case also.

Fanatico is a new project of Mathias Schaffhäuser and vocalist Jorge Socarrás (Macro Music / Compost Rec.) from New York. "Tessio" is the first single of a collection of tracks which will be released as an album later this year. Composed and released by Luomo (a.k.a. Vladislav Delay) in 2000 on Force Tracks, this song was always one of Schaffhäuser's favourite minimal house tunes. The track comes with fabulous remixes by KINK (Ovum Rec., Rush Hour, Modelisme) and M.in feat. Chriss Vogt (Yellow Tail, Desolat, Get Physical, Mothership).

Hailing from sunny Los Angeles, Plastic Love Records kicks off our first release with an EP from label co-boss Jimmy Maheras. Maheras made his debut in 2011 with his Space Jam EP on the Crosstown Rebels edit sub-label, Rebellion. Since then he's released remixes and singles on Strainjjur, Riff Raff, Supernature, and Left'd. Maheras's two original tracks showcase his depth with The Man From Another Place being squarely aimed at the big room dance floor and the second track, Arecibo, bringing a little Kraftwerkesque funk. We've commissioned Timothy J Fairplay (Crimes Of The Future) and Cottam (Aus Music / Ruff Draft) for two very unique remixes. Fairplay crunches down the original melody and throws it over the famed amen break to give TMFAP a hands in air late night feel while Cottam's remix brings the dreamy melody closer to acid with storming late night kick ready to knock down a wall.

Like all great music, it's often difficult to explain what it sounds like or convey the excitement you experience upon first hearing. Wrong Steps falls into this category exactly. Describing his music as 'melodic house' wouldn't do the intricacies and depths on display justice.
Instead, it might be easier to liken him to artists such as Floating Points, Metro Area and Portable - and we don't use those comparisons lightly!
Big boots to fill of course, but this is a very promising debut from a very promising debutante. Watch this space for more.

Returning to Delsin after 2013's What I Feel EP, Italian producer Herva is now serving up a double EP offering, Instant Broadcast, to be released in September. Herva is Herve Atse Corti, the young producer who has appeared on labels like Kontra Musik and Bosconi as part of analogue house duo Life's Track. A fan of everything from intense Aphex Twin music to more human r&b, soul and hip hop, in 2012 he served up the soulful house LP Meanwhile In Madland and since then has continued to hone his production skills to the point that he is now a pleasingly singular talent. Instant Broadcast, the 12 tracks to be released on 2 x vinyl, proves that in spades, combing as it does intricate electronic stylings with an off kilter sampling style, organic instrumentals and plenty of rough hewn charm. The album kicks off with 'And The Crunch Goes On', a fractured, sample heavy track with sensuous piano notes floating above barrelling techno drums. It evolves through many different forms across its 6-minute duration and from there the kaleidoscopic journey really begins. 'Slam The Laptop' is deep and lo fi techno, 'Pitch Business' is glistening IDM and '01 (Edit)' is scuzzy dystopian ambiance of the sort LIES has become famous for. Elsewhere there is blissful and heavenly ambiance, sketchy sound collages that put dusty old soul vocals next to trilling melodies and pounding broken beat that is awash with spring like rays of sunshine. Sometimes dark, sometimes beautiful, but always unpredictable, Instant Broadcast is a refreshingly original, sketchy album that shuns the usual Chicago and Detroit reference points and instead conjures up a truly idiosyncratic style that puts Herva in a class of his own.

Kalipo is Jakob Häglsperger from Berlin who devotes himself to experimental electronica. His debut album Yaruto follows a series of remixes and contributions to compilations released by Antime and Stiff Little Spinners. On it, Häglsperger tries to create a both unique and timeless sound that takes cues from dance music, downbeat and Gamelan traditions alike. Making use of his wide array of analogue synthesizers, a Rhodes piano, a metallophone and guitars, Häglsperger is creating the abstract narrative of an impersonal biography by creating moods that correspond with certain stages of life as well as chopped up vocal samples.

Somehow it's been two years since Tic Tac Toe boss Patrick Bateman stepped up on his own label for a full release, but thankfully he now returns with a new single 'Club Queen' - complete with remixes from Frank Haag, Billy Johnston & Gennaro Mastrantonio - that reasserts his authority as the label's finest exponent.
In original form 'Club Queen' is a deliciously deep number with ripples of chords rolling over its face, plenty of atmospheric ambiance and a slight sense of eeriness. It's slow and purposeful, full of melting sounds and gentle rhythms and when the hi-hats land to complement the kick mid way through, it really drives on and takes you with it to the edge of the cosmos.
Amsterdam's Frank Haag - a fast rising talent with releases on labels like Get the Curse and Serialism - tackles the first remix and initially strips it back just to weird found sounds that really set the scene. Then the rubbery kick drums come in and shuffle below sombre minor chords and squelchy machine effects, but the icing on the cake is the filtered, almost indecipherable vocal musings of French photographer and singer Julie Montel. The slurred textures add another layer of depth and intrigue to the already cerebral and consuming production.
A second remix comes from American producer Billy Johnston of labels like Black Nation, Sleaze and Blu Fin. Everyone from DJ Hell to Richie Hawtin has supported his minimal sounds in the past, and here he teams up with Gennaro Mastrantonio aka Undeep, the sub label owner of Apparel Music Limited. Together the pair craft a warm wind tunnel of deep and dubby, heavily rhythmic techno. It's smooth and frictionless, with jus the odd synth searching the track's sonic landscape and buried deep rattling percussion driving the whole thing along.
Another fine EP From Tic Tac Toe that takes you deep down the rabbit hole of darkened dance and keeps you there, right in its midst.

one of the rare platforms that stayed solid as a rock in all these years is mule musiq, the tokyo based label that spreads miscellaneous sound vibes that long from jazz to disco, house, and unobtrusive ambient since 2004.
with a versatile artist roster consisting of producers such as henrik schwarz, lawrence, dj sprinkles, dj jus-ed, kuniyuki, eddie c, roedelius, or new kids on the blog like barnt or lord of the isles the japan based record company developed a status of her own for being one of the most free spirited organisations in contemporary music.

Mit der ersten Veröffentlichung auf dem hauseigenen Label geben die Telekollegen ihre musikalische Richtung vor und präsentieren ihre Interpretationen von House und Techhouse. Die Platte entpuppt sich als Steigerung von Titel zu Titel zu und erzählt die Geschichte der Telekollegen in melodischer Form. Toni Haupt eröffnet die Story mit Loosen, einer souligen Nummer die sich perfekt für das Ende der Openair Saison eignet. Der Track interpretiert Oldschool-Elemente auf zeitgemäße Art. Modulierte Vocals und traditionelle Chords legen sich über den schleppenden Bassgroove. Daniel Archut zeigt sich verspielt und geradlinig zugleich mit dem Track Wild Roo, der durch ein Pub-Pianothema und einer Fülle von treibenden Akustikelementen geprägt wird. Jekyll & Hyde führen mit I Wonder Why die B Seite an, einem Techhousetrack der cool bleibt und sich die nötige Zeit nimmt, um sich zu entfalten. Sukzessiv wächst ein Gerüst aus digitalen Percussions und Vocal-Sounds zu einem hypnotischen Groove. Für den Abschlussgroove und damit für den letzten Eindruck ist Sascha Aviar mit I Am verantwortlich, einer Nummer die durch ihre treibene Bassline getragen wird und vielerlei Spielereien hervorsticht.
