Munk is the project of Gomma label founder Mathias Modica ("Germany's most interesting electronic music label' The NME). Munk is best known for his collaborations with Rebolledo from Pachanga Boys (Surf Smurf), James Murphy LCD Soundsystem (Kick out the chairs), Asia Argento (Live Fast Die Old) and club hits like Down in L.A. and La Musica. He co- produced the albums of Gomma bands WhoMadeWho and Moullinex. There is already a big buzz around Munk right now: The pre-single Southern Moon went on top of the Beatport house charts. DJs like Todd Terje, Shit Robot, Tensnake and Disclosure are playing it. Also Happiness Juice (and its superb video) is all over the blogs right now. Munk's latest remix of Lana Del Rey's West Coast went on No.1 of Hypemachine after it's release in June 2014 and is one of the most blogged remixes of this summer. The new album Chanson 3000 is the 4th Munk album. It was recorded in Berlin - where Mathias and his new vocalists live. As usual Mathias' music doesn't fit in any categories. It's a mixture of 90ies Electronica and House with New Wave, 70ies Jazzfunk, Indie Disco and his love for songwriters like Burt Bacharach, Quincy Jones, Trevor Horn. Mathias is a classically trained musician. His dad (a composer of contemporary classical music) taught him instruments since the age of five. That's why Modica's way of producing is so different: He mixes 'real' instruments (he plays piano, synths, bass, saxophone, guitars, drums) and new digital techniques.

Niconé, the versatile musician and likeable style-icon: unshaven and latently bleary-eyed, of course, but elegant and - thankfully - modest at the same time. Over the past years, Alexander Gerlach has become synonymous with a certain playful touch and light-hearted attitude that flows through his music and goes hand in hand with a laidback natural tenor. 2011 saw him release the hugely successful 'Romantic Thrills' album together with his good friend and constant partner in crime Sascha Breamer. Now, two years later, Niconé is presenting his first solo full-length, 'Let Love Begin', on Stil vor Talent. ‚Burnhain' gives a taste of what's to follow and is one of two 12 EP accompanying the album. On the A-side, ‚Burnhain', classic house sounds such as driving high-hats and 90s rave stabs offer a nod to the past, while hitting the zeitgeist. 'Querido', which features Sascha Braemer and the newly discovered vocal talent Yvy, initially drops the energy on the B-side before exploding with Mediterranean life, castanets included for good measure. 'You Are My Best Meowfucker' then pushes us back into the club as a techy rhythm and repeated vocal hook draw us to the floor. What do you get when you cross a Frenchman, a Dane, two Irishmen and a Swede The debut various artists compilation from Kyoku Records, of course. Gathering the producers who make up their whole discography thus far, the Melbourne-based imprint are welcoming back Dorsi Plantar, Sune, Long Island Sound and Ethyene (alongside Folamour and Marc Bianco). Translating from Japanese to a befitting "dancing birds", the Odoru Tori EP is revitalizing the elegant origami series for one last spin. The orizuru, hachidori, oumu and hakucho, that is, the paper crane, the hummingbird, the parrot and the swan are bringing the handmade array to a suitable conclusion. On the A side, the Scandinavian connection is responsible for bringing some summer heat. Dorsi Plantar sheds his usual wistfulness for a slightly moodier, more functional track with "Senorita Lolita", although still incorporating some of that playful sampling he's now come to be known for. "Californicate" from Sune takes a more laidback approach and channels the breezy and carefree atmosphere of the coastal Golden State. On the flip side, Long Island Sound follow the same recipe that made "Delusions" such a big hit with the intricate sampling and eloquent arrangement of "Ease In". To top things off, Ethyene, with the help of Folamour and Marc Bianco, close out the record with a groovy, vocal number that sees them employ their signature French Touch formula to great effect on the simply titled "Good".

Studio Barnhus' love affair with Lukas Nystrand von Unge continues with his second EP for the label, a collection of six tracks recorded between 2010 and 2016. From A1's sturdy take-'em-to-church organs, through a goulash of the sweetest, roughest lil' house jams you ever heard, all the way to B3's cut-up disco jubilation, this record is a perfect example of why the sounds coming out of Tensta Tape Academy remain so endlessly fascinating to us. For their 12th label anniversary, Jazz & Milk have decided to launch a new series called "Twelve Inch Jams" in order to celebrate vinyl culture and the legendary 12" format!

JAMS002 sounds the bell for the second round of the series including a 10 years re-issue of the classic Sam Irl cut "You Don't Feel Enough". Originally released as a B1 tune on his "African Dance EP" debut on Pulver Records in 2007, this jazzy house gem found its way into the record bags of many influential DJs over the years. From Session Victim, Glenn Astro, Max Graef to Hodini... the record never disappeared in club sets but certainly from discogs a good while ago.

So it was about time to give the tune a second life and finally press it on the format it deserves - a whole 12" side. The German production duo Session Victim are well-known fans of the track describing it as their secret weapon playing it in quite many DJ sets for years, including their 2015 appearance for Mixmag's DJ Lab.

Hence, it is a great pleasure that Session Victim contributed a remix to the new release. Their absolutely elegant and groove-driven version with a charming 90's touch to it makes a brillant counterpart to the original with its jazzy piano-, drum- and double bass samples leading to an epic synth break that regularly causes ecstatic moments on the dancefloor.

Brodanse´s 'Danse Club Records' returns with another 90`s New Jersey gem reworked for 2013 with remix duties this time going to Just Be, Lula Circus & Chubby Dubz ... Danse Club Records, the label started by DJ/production sibling duo Brodanse has made a sterling start so far with releases of classic 90`s US house cuts remixed by the likes of Matt Tolfrey, Oliver $, Moodymanc & Brodanse themselves.

The reaction has been outstanding at a time where there is an obvious embracing of all things nineties and DJs such as Danny Tenaglia, Maxxi Soundsytem, Seth Troxler, Huxley & Dusky have been queuing up to lend their backing. For their latest release Danse Club look once again to New Jerseys historic shores, this time picking up an old record from US soul house duo The Burrell Brothers and drafting in three hot production acts to rework this much loved tune.
To start the package we have the original "club dub" version, giving an insight into the records history with it`s mid nineties feel and production still standing up wonderfully.

The first of the remixes sees Crosstown Rebels and Get Physical artist Just Be AKA Matthew Bushwaka deliver his"Insomniac mix",

Next up we have Italian production duo Lula Circus whose releases for the likes of Culprit and Noir have been creating quite a stir. Besides launching his fresh Bodybuilder Quartet series (QSB), inaugurated by Scott Franka, Nachtbraker unveils yet another Quartet: four records in the The Trophy Quartet series (QST). Middle Ground is a dusty filtered house track, aligned with a soaring string section, which narrate the warm uplifting journey this track lays down. Mandingo was made as a tool for Oli s sets last summer and after some huge reactions and some serious demand, Mandingo was set for a vinyl release. Big stabs and plenty of funk this track is party ready. On the flip we find Mak & Pasteman return to Music is Love after an appearance on the 3rd LOVEBOX VA in 2016. Piano4 is flipped into what these boys do best, Simple stripped back grooves delivered with stupendous power. On B2 is the original take on Piano4 which sees Oli flexing his power house muscles on this big piano track. Piano4 is an unrelenting beast that twists and turns its way through various passages of maximum intent.

House hit makers MOTHER RECORDINGS are back with another tight two track package. This one comes from the label boss NHAN SOLO, a real house talent with plenty of great singles and EPs in his back catalogue, most often on his own great label.

Opening the release is SHOW ME LOVE, a deep and groovy number with nice piano chords rolling over slick house groove. Power female vocal add fuel and emotion to the fire and the whole thing really casts a spell on you.

BROTHERS KEEPERS is on the flip and is another kicking house tune with sleek metallic drums, great percussive tension with smart kills and filters, and clipped vocals that inject real warmth and soul. Both cuts carry on in this Berlin based producer's fine tradition and are sure to get plenty of dance floors on their toes in the coming months.

The next reissue classic on Henry Street Music comes from Scott Kinchen AKA Scotti Deep. Originally released in 1997.

February 23rd saw the release of Sidney Charles's retrospective full length 'House Lessons' album on AVOTRE. Here we get treated to a second single from the album, complete with a fresh new remix from the original house gangster, DJ Sneak.
German talent Sidney Charles has become an influential producer since emerging in 2011: his full fat, chunky house offerings have become staples in DJ sets and he has served up many modern dance floor classics along the way. Always touring the world and laying down engaging sets full of many house flavours, here we get another fine serving of his unique sound in the form of new single 'Psyjack.'

The track is a full blooded bit of jacking house with tough drums, icy hi-hat loops and rib rattling bass that thumps out a sweaty groove. Oversized and emphatic throughout, some tripped out melodic breakdowns offer intricate musical moments before the physical drums bang once more. It's first rate club music, make no mistake.

It's a perfect track to be re-worked by I'm A House Gangster label boss and all round Chicago house pioneer DJ Sneak. His version is pricklier, and hypnotically loopy. With vocal stabs and barreling kick drums, loose, DIY sounding percussion and shooting synth lines it's a raw and genetic bit of house music that cannot fail to make dance floors sweat.


Once again we are reminded that Sidney Charles is at the top of the modern house pile and that AVOTRE know exactly who to enlist to remix their releases to the greatest effect.

Vinny Villbass is one of the long time driving forces behind the Norwegian club scene. In addition to an extensive list of club nights and house parties on his conscience, he is one third of the crew behind the renown Oslo club night Sunkissed and initiator of the Norwegian web-portal OsloClubCast, building ties between the clubs, DJ's, and producers of Oslo.

As DJ, Vinny Villbass is known for his exceptional groove and timing as a result of 15 years behind the decks, mostly in Scandinavia, but also as a resident of German club capitol Berlin, and in New York City.

His musical experience also reaches far beyond his 15 years as house DJ and vinyl junkie. As guitar and synth player in diskJokkeBand and a master of acoustics, Vinny Villbass´ production skills fronts his very own trademark sound of house music.

In addition to releases on labels such as Eskimo Recordings, Trunkfunk and Afro Art, Villbass also has a long history of remixing. The latest years, he has been remixing Norwegian bands as diversions from his daily studio focus. "Diversions" collects a wide range of Vinny Villbass' trademark analogue reworks, all produced at his peculiar studio collective at Grünerløkka in Oslo. Focus on each bands distinctive energy has resulted in a diverse compilation of contemporary Norwegian quality, from Norwegian Grammy award winning bands Beglomeg and King Midas, to Deathcrush, Pow Pow, Radio 9 and Lionheart Brothers, plus electropop artist Sandra Kolstad and jazz futurists Jaga Jazzist.

When we started Heist a few years back, our idea was to give a stage to talent in a same way as we have had a helping hand by the labels that have supported us from the beginning. Therefore, it's our pleasure to share this release with you by newcomers 'Ouer', a Berlin based duo with only a handful of tracks out so far on their self released debut last year. Their approach to producing is very much jam based, and with a compact collection of synths, drum machines and a fair level of distortion, they succeed in creating their own sound with hints of classic electronic music from Chicago and Detroit. There's a nice mix of energy on the whole EP, 'The ascent being the most driving track of the package'. Fans of classics MCDE tracks will love 'Show off' with it's dreamy DX7 style chords and cracking acid lines. 'Move over' feels like a jam session that was way too much fun with some lovely solo work on the synths, whereas 'Mess around' goes down in similar free-ride style on the synths and again, has some lovely sampling going on.
