For the best part of a decade, Fred Peterkin has impressed with his ultra-deep, soul-flecked take on deep house and techno. Here, his Soul People Music imprint gives birth to a new sub-label, Energy of Sound, with the New York producer delivering a double-pack's worth of previously unreleased cuts. Naturally, the standard is abnormally high throughout, with Peterkin variously serving up sumptuous, dreamy fare ("Down Under", the San Francisco '90s deep house revivalism of "Don't Be Afraid"), chunkier deep house rollers ("Memory P"), crunchy dub house ("Dub In The Sky"), and throbbing, tech-tinged brilliance ("Tokyo To Chiba" and the European-sounding "Sybian").

For more than a decade, Jimmy Edgar has experimented in sound structure and design, utilising an array of digital and analog hardware to release delphic signings on Warp, !K7 and Hotflush. After launching his enigmatic label Ultramajic in 2013, the Detroit born space cadet delves into mystic philosophy with his latest metaphysical embodiment.

Following on from Lando's July release, the forthcoming EP 'Shine' sees a continuation in pulsating chunky house chords with an industrialised varnish. The gargantuan brawn and weight of 'Let me tell you' ensures crowd-pleasing thump. This theme then slightly diverts, with the synthetic minimalism of 'The Dip Chair' and 'Two of Wands'. However, Edgar harks back to earlier influences in his career with 'Feel what it is', embodying Detroit house seen through R&B elements, reflective of his hometown influences.

Haunt are back with Right Place the new single from ToCo.

Mark Jenkyns and Christopher Sylvester have joined forces as 12 Stories to release the heavy duty 'Night Obscure EP' on Hot Creations. The EP features two original and unique no nonsense club weapons plus an equally solid remix from Bunte Bummler.

On the A-side, the acid induced 'Showtime' uses a sample from a ghetto fight to aptly fit the name of the track. After spending a lot of time in the studio and using numerous bits of Roland gear, the second track 'Night Obscure' finally came together when Mark's neighbour spontaneously sang a French poem for the the vocals. No stranger in the Hot Creations camp Bunte Bummler uses the vocals to full effect over deep chugging percussions, while keeping hold of the sonic energy that flows through the EP.

This release is their first original output as 12 Stories and paves the way for much more to come including releases on VIVa and Leftroom. Originally from South Shields, Mark Jenkyns has enjoyed a series of well received releases on Hot Creations, Hot Waves, Crosstown Rebels and Dogmatik. Christopher Sylvester under his Inxec alias has released on a wealth of labels including Contexterior, Last Night on Earth, Leftroom, Get Physical, Culprit and Crosstown Rebels.

Mannheim natives Bunte Bummler aka Fabian Winkels and Manuel Vobis met 12 years ago in the graffiti scene, although several years would pass before they joined together to produce and DJ. Releases have appeared on the likes of Hot Trax, Recovery Tech, Deep Tech Records, Viva Music, Leone, Defected and Cecile.

secretsundaze return with SS016 - DJ Qu's mighty SS1 EP. secretsundaze and Qu have developed a special relationship with him playing at many of their parties in London but also at their events in the likes of New York, Berlin and Barcelona.

A full 3 track EP on a label outside of his own Strength Music is rare for DJ Qu so its serious coup for secretsundaze.

Title and lead track 'SS1' is quite simply huge. Definitely one of Qu's most peak time tracks, a slamming groove is underpinned with a bleepy, squelchy sounds and some dramatic synth stabs. This should be a highlight in many DJs sets for months to come.

With 'Fearless' DJ Qu goes deep. A typically eerie yet soulful groove creeps along complimented by deep strings before the sampled and skewed spoken word creeps in. 'Loveboxx' is a dark and sinister track with stuttering drums and more of Qu's trademark treated vocal samples.

The track is really lifted up with some string like keys and this 3rd and final track rounds up what is a masterful display by a producer in his prime.

New Jersey's mythical Zanzibar club has long been a source of wonderment for dance music fans around the world. The Newark institution has been connected to some of the biggest producers and DJ's in the world of dance music; Blaze, Tony Humphries, Kerri Chandler, Tee Scott and many more! Step up Jovonn aka LY with this most classic piece of late night NJ House / Garage from 1994 - "Back To Zanzibar", a love letter to the club and dance-floor that no doubt had a massive influence on him and countless others during it's existence. 2 mixes of "Back To Zanzibar" feature and both are slow burning House of the highest order with LY calling us to join him to "hang out in Newark" and go back to the club over a backdrop of melodic deepness. It's a flawless track and deservedly wears the tag of "classic" comfortably. Essential. On side-B we are treated to 2 mixes of "Deep Inside My Mind" which has a slightly tougher, more frenetic, vibe to the side-A cut. "Deep Inside My Mind" is all skippy drums, slightly odd synth chords and LY on vocals asking us "Can you feel it" Definitely one for the dancers in the dark corners of the club!

Bam Bam's label Westbrook unearths a true Chicago classic from 1988.

Written by Mike Dunn and co-produced by Bam Bam all three tracks are truly pioneering Acid House benchmarks from Chicago's golden age.

TAPAN is a duo from Belgrade. Title track, 'The City', takes few minutes to get going, but when it does... it's like a James Chance/no wave saxophone on some kind of funky slo-mo euro techno. The other 3 tracks drift in and out like some kind of night time fog on a glassy lake with live instruments/percussion peeping out from the hills. For deep and moody waistoids and freaks only.

Hudd Traxx celebrate their 10th Anniversary in style with a 4 part Compilation called 'Now & Then'. The first part includes tracks from Chez Damier, Tomson, Agnes & Iron Curtis. Over the years Hudd have released music from the likes of Matthew Herbert, DJ Sneak, Rolando, Rick Wade, Iz & Diz, and JT Donaldson and a whole load more. The concept behind the release celebrates both new & classic tracks on the 'Now' & 'Then' sides respectively. Man of the moment Tomson kicks things off with a typically straight up House number entitled 'On The Buttons', and definitely is right on them with this one. Chicago legend Chez Damier steps up to the plate next with an Epic Deep House groover with elements of soulful Jazz, which will be well received for those late night or early morning sets. Flip for the B Side & find 2 Classic tracks with Agnes remix of 'The Bass' & Iron Curtis' 'You Are'. Both still sound as good as they did on their initial release, and prove that buying new Hudd Traxx music now will still sound as fresh in another 10 Years time.

Not just a purveyor of dusty club music, LAN (Live Act Night)
is a conceptual project also operating within the realms of
event and video. From curating the Out Of Sight podcast to
the POV video series, Live In My Room, live machine music
with plenty of soul has been a calling card of the Berlin-
based project. Enlisting the services of friends and peers to
work on the various facets, we've seen the likes of Cloudface,
Steve Summers, Perseus Traxx and Steven Tang join founder
Willis Anne in both the booth and the studio since LAN's
inception in 2013.
Financed by way of a co-funding pre-order, the second release
comes from Willis himself. Delivering three cuts of peak-
time ordnance, the Bordeaux native shows just why he was
picked up by Nous Disques for a split EP alongside Berceuse
Heroique. Immersive opener ›Expecting Myself‹ juxtaposes
waif-like electronics against the lo-fi percussive elements.
Gradually unfurling as the track progresses, the undulating
synth swells coax the listener in while the punchy framework
bumps along underneath.
Willis takes a more stripped-back approach on the flip with
›Automatic Body‹. Built around a strapping kick drum and a
snare that hits like a blacksmith's hammer, there's a graceful
fragility found in the shimmering synths and feathery cymbals
that pepper the track. Yet another grower, ›Nonlinearity‹ draws
listeners in as proceedings build up to a stunning crescendo
of bubbling 303s, ominous vocal samples and a machine-
gun spray of hi-hats. Like its predecessors, this heads-down
number slowly builds in tension while displaying a masterful
grasp of what it takes to produce emotive machine music
without diminishing dance floor impact

* With 'Footwork Or Die', Chicagos own DJ Diamond returns to the spotlight with a strongly infectious and deep brand new masterpiece, a very worthy successor to his debut album 'Flight Muzik', originally released on the UK's Planet Mu Records in 2011. 2013 saw the release of a reloaded extended version of 'Flight Muzik' and now in late 2016 Duck N' Cover Records is very excited to have the opportunity to bring more of his outstanding music to the ears of a wide audience.

* Already, with his first album DJ Diamond, aka Karlis Griffin, made clear that he is one of the Footwork scene's most original producers, with a very distinctive style of his own that is not repiclable. The epic quality and deepness of some of the brightest moments on 'Flight Muzik' is back and in some cases even topped with his second full length release. The most important factor that made DJ Diamond a local legend long before the debut album was available is the apparent musicality of his productions. The Holic Trax label has released a wealth of well-formed house and techno from the likes of Mr.G, Rick Wade and Tuccillo before now, and on April 30th the label offers up its second compilation. Put together by label boss Tomoki Tamura, the selection features a
range of artists old and new and will be released on two slabs of vinyl as well as digitally, with an extra bonus track. Tomoki is probably one of the most successful Japanese DJs in the world having held down residencies at places like The End as well as running his own Holic events, and now proves he also has a
great ear for A&R with the tracks he pulls together here. First up is MÔME aka Bertrand Lacroix, a big collector of phonographs who owns a lot of 78RPM American Jazz records. His 'The Good The Big The Bad' is firmly rooted to the ground with its big air kicks and grinding drums.

Responsible for some of the biggest house/techno singles of the past 18 months with 'Flo Jam', 'Nobody Else' and 'Careless', North London duo Dusky aka Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman present a limited run of two of their best loved deeper excursions in 'Mr Man' and 'Lost Highway'.

Having been supported by DJs as varied as Eats Everything, Sasha, Justin Martin and Damian Lazarus, the deep brooding 'Mr Man' has been deployed as a leftfield end-of-night anthem by so many thanks to its unexpected use of magical classical pianos.

A deep gem from their 2011 album 'Stick By This', the beautifully unfurling 'Lost Highway' is found on flip and balances deep grooves and measured melodic beauty perfectly.
