A heavy, heavy remix package here from Hypercolour. Step forward Bonobo, Kowton and Dark Sky, who all contribute stellar remixes of Maya Jane Coles' 'Don't Put Me In Your Box' EP, originally out in 2011. Bristol's Joe Cowton AKA Kowton plucks for 'Parallel Worlds' from Maya's EP to get the once over, opting for a dancefloor-centric re-work. Stripping things right back with big, distorted drums and strobe like percs, the Idle Hands and Livity Sound man affords us with a real sweat soaked warehouse banger of a remix. Dark Sky have been firing on all cylinders of late, releases on Tectonic and 50 Weapons, collaborations with Breach... and their remix of 'Something In The Air is underpinned with a rattling 4/4 groove and big subby sweeps, retaining the original's melodic touches. Bonobo seals a huge period of activity, including a rack of acclaimed albums for Ninja Tune, with an ethereal and sublime take on 'Something In The Air'. The remix cinematically sweeps over you, its rising melodies and tight percussions making this a standout job from Bonobo and a fine closing to a big remix package!

Hypercolour's latest release comes in the form of 'Higher Level', a brand new release from label co-owner Alex Jones that is tastefully augmented by remixes from Mr Fingers and Hypercolour's latest signings,Groove Armada.

Jones' reputation for the sort of house music that takes a unique path is well deserved. Whether it's the choice of sounds, the levels in the mix or the occasionally bizarre arrangements, Jones belligerently ploughs his own path and is one of the few house artists who can claim to be completely unique. The designer behind Hypercolour's ever-striking artwork, Jones even gets to imbue his own releases with the sort of irreverent humour that has led to him being known as the Spike Milligan of house music by nobody in particular (or just 'bell' to his friends).

With 'Higher Level', Jones typically confounds expectation by delivering a his most straightforward cut yet. Classic in its elements and references, it's a track that employs a small mixture of percussion, an original vocal (courtesy of Alex's neighbour, Alan Winfield) and key samples to create a vibrant and powerful tune that is as classy as it is high impact.

The second release from Spazio Records is a transatlantic affair. Made by the dynamic duo Zopelar from Sao Paulo in Brazil and SUMORAI from the southern part of Sweden. The tracks are the fruits from jams made behind hotel walls in Tokyo. Deep, raw and sticky-icky.

Reminiscent of a time where we were releasing 4-tracks sampler every month (remember the Secret Gems From The Vault) It is naturally that we thought about a various artists sampler in order to introduce the new wild bunch.
I said new but some of them are pretty familiar, which is the case with the almighty D'julz or Raw District for an incredible update on 2007 « Fast Forward » which deserves its title, Do I need to introduce D'Julz I don't think so, one of the most sought-after French dj and producer, he never disappoints.
Then we are pleased to welcome Accatone, having several EP's and remixes released since 2008 and a full album in 2012 on labels like Dabit, Apparel, Piston Recordings, Roots & Wings, One to One, to name some, and having his work remixed by legendary Matthew Herbert or Jay Tripwire (Poker Flat, Tonality), Piek, (Cadenza, Paulatine, diynamic), Accatone is becoming a full-grown producer by conquering the likes of Dj Sneak, Laurent Garnier, Stacey Pullen, Slam, Timo Maas, Danny Tennaglia, Olderic, David Labeij, Mirco Violi, Severino Panzeta (Horse Meat Disco), Paco Osuna and many others !
Scan Mode aka Alberto Sánchez began his career in the year 1998 and has since traveled throughout the Spanish territory, performing in major venues and festivals alongside the likes of Jeff Mills, Sven Väth, Dubfire, Marco Carola and Richie Hawtin to name a few. He is regarded as an eclectic artist who has taken different professional profiles during his musical career. His music is on the edge of House and Techno with brilliant melodies and rhytmic, Kike Henriquez began editing in Alex Flatner's labels, Later released on labels like BluFin, Greenhorn and with some of the best artists from the tech-house & deep-house scene, Introduced to David Duriez by Something Different(s head honcho Jesus Pablo, Kike soon joined the task force behind this new BR100 release, Another artist to watch out.

Proper fun-filled House music from back in the day!This stand-out EP mixes a delicious slice of past and present, and is a rare record not to be missed. Play it loud!

Recording under different aliases, the Burrell Brothers were the backbone of Nu Groove, the New York label started in 1987 which took inspiration from Trax Records, both musically and aesthetically. This compilation collects the absolute best of the Burrell's output, and gives a valuable insight to the much overlooked roots of New York house music. It is now close to 25 years ago that Nu Groove began in a New York where the house scene was just starting to blossom. In the four years the label existed, it released over 100 records, famously putting out early releases from artists such as Bobby Konders, Frankie Bones and Joey Beltram. Nu Groove started by releasing records by Rheji and Ronald Burrell, and continued to do so until it folded. The brothers were scouted by the label after they had recorded a ton of material for EMI America that never came out. The Burrell's have always stayed under the radar, which has largely to do with the various aliases they used for different projects, such as Aphrodisiac, Equation, Houz' Neegroz, Metro, N.Y. House'n Authority and Tech Trax Inc. This release is a celebration of the work of the Burrell Brothers. The album includes a wide variety of their music under all their various guises. And despite their different guises, all the music they made always had a grainy quality to it, like house music with a sepia tint. The second part of the vinyl set features classic Aphrodisiac material, most notably the ambient-esque 'Song Of The Siren'. Another Ronald Burrell highlight here is the equally seminal 'How Do U Luv A Black Woman'. Alongside more N.Y. House'n Authority tunes, the Metro tracks included here are another testament to Rheji's love for deep Chicago house, plus the energetic 'The Answer' by Equation, which became a rave anthem in the UK in the early 90s.

South Florida's very own J. Albert and Person of Interest come together for Exotic Dance Records on this four-track 12" of certified heat! A1 cuts to the chase with the soul-inflected number "Thank You for Believing in Me": a slapping house beat carries a soaring vocal refrain through rattling percussion and fretless bass. A2 shifts into sexier territory, as an enticing brass motif dances on top of titillating pulses, punchy breakbeats and an authoritative bounce. On the flipside, Person of Interest's homegrown "Pompano Acid" trades melodious acid with sun-soaked oscillating piano stabs on top of a shuffled boom-bap garage rhythm. B2 track "Still" made an appearance in last year's Bronze/Palace Paramount video and here provides a nice finisher to Exotic Dance's inaugural 12".

Informed by years spent building electronics and collecting records in Chicago and honing crowd control skills in the foggy clubs of London, C Powers' output approaches multiple rhythmic configurations via the intent of generating human response expressed in dance.C Powers is currently residing back in his home state of Georgia and is holding resident DJ posts at Atlanta's HUNGER club night and his own Cape Fear in Savannah GA. C is also the resident DJ for Savannah's own House Of Gunt performance group who through cross sensory stimulation experiences involving gender blasting action and choreography. Chris's recent output includes 12's on Proper Trax, CGI, Niche-N-Bump, as well as producing tracks for 18+ (Houndstooth/Fabric).
All Right is a sample-based late night banger with remixes from House music heavyweights Parris Mitchell (Dance Mania), Kai Alce (NDATL), and John Barerra & Will Martin (Dolly, Argot).

Across the 2 discs you'll find back to back bangers, a serious addition to any DJ's bag & throwing a whole lot of styles into the blender Boo & Glen don't let up! This is the first time this record has ever been re-pressed since it's original release surprisingly with prices on-line often being at the higher end of the scale for used copies. Seeing as we here at WPH HQ kinda like vinyl only releases we have decided to start the WPH 'TEN' series. The idea is simple: 10 x 10', always pressed on 300 copies, vinyl only, two original tracks from one artist. Up first is the debut release by another young Belgian kid called Dektro. A gear-head with a musical background and a love for house music is a combination that cannot go wrong...and it hasn't.

'De Flattekat' and 'Langhors' are two absolute house beauties that will appeal to both fans of Floating Points and Ame. Worlds apart for some, but not for Dektro and WPH

Local Talk release no.61 is 'Bewyste EP', a unique and contagious take on house music by Esa & Mervin Granger.
The opening track, Bontas lures you deep into Esa's forward thinking house music, it's raw, percussive and wondrously catchy with a organic feel. It might sound pretty straight forward but don't let that fool you. There are many layers of fx and clever programming which makes Esa stray away from the norm when it comes to producing and that's what we love.
Next up is MVK, a perfectly balanced deep house number that builds slowly with a lush combination of chords and piano. Watch out for the thumpin bass, it transforms the track into something really special and takes it to another level. On the flip Boddhi Satva delivers a remix worthy of a big sound system. His Ancestral Soul Mix of Bontas is delicate swinging congas and claps, garnished with a twisted synth line just waiting to explode.
