Clone Royal Oak Series with its 24th release! And this time it's Canadian Gingy with vocals by singer Starving Yet Full. RAPT is an amazing vocal tune that doesn't follow the ''color by numbers'' dogmas. 2nd track is the equally exiting instrumental cut named VSCUS with abrasive lead synth twisting and turning over haunting strings and shimmering hihats in the best Detroit tradition. Serge & Tyrell team up for a remix version of RAPT. They deliver a straight forward, no nonsense powerful Dub mix!

Jungle Wonz (marshall Jefferson) - Time Marches On

The second Jungle Wonz release on Trax, again with Harry Dennis' gorgeous vocals, was sub-licensed to both New York label Vendetta and Breakout in the UK (both subsidiaries of A&M), with some fine remixes by former Area resident Justin Strauss. "This was one of the first house songs I ever heard when I was like 14" recalls Felix Da Housecat. "Marshall Jefferson has been a huge influence on all my basslines. People usually think that basslines come from 80's pop bands but they came from Marshall Jefferson. Marshall Jefferson is probably the best house producer of all time for this period."

Matt Tolfrey drops the second single from his 'Word Of Mouth' EP this ... via his Leftroom imprint, opting for the infectious groove of 'Encarta' and pulling in Marco Bernardi and DJ Sprinkles on remix duties.
Matt Tolfrey's, Leftroom, imprint has gone from strength to strength over the past seven years, and his debut full length 'Word Of Mouth' earned critical acclaim amongst peers and press alike. Here Leftroom offers up another stellar addition to the catalogue, further showcasing Tolfrey's undeniably on point A&R skills by pulling in sought after artists DJ Sprinkles and Marco Bernardi to present yet another refreshing release from the label.
The original version of 'Encarta' kicks things off here, its cosseting Rhodes melodies, whispering vocal licks, gritty shuffling snares and sheer elegance draw you in, and further display Tolfrey's experience in the industry with its classic meets contemporary vibe. Clone, Planet E and Futureboogie artist Marco Bernardi steps up first to rework 'Encarta', putting a slightly more driving spin on the original number with insistent arp lines, crunchy distorted drums and raw saw wave bass tones thrown into the mix. Bernardi displays his more than capable production skills through evolving melodies and subtle nuances, resulting in an up-tempo, tasteful interpretation.

Last up to close the release is the forever on-point DJ Sprinkles, stamping his signature emotive, ethereal touches on the original. Sprinkles, as he often does, goes to full lengths with an eleven minute mix, meandering through an amalgamation of synth and drum variations with a genuine song structure, as expected it's an intelligent, forward thinking rework.

Ryan Crosson - Bricolage Ep

Ryan Crosson, one third of the powerhouse Visionquest, gets set to release his next solo assault - the brilliant 'Bricolage EP'. A master at delivering diverse productions, here Crosson offers three heavy dancefloor weapons each with their own distinct allure. 'Spoons' gets to work with pacey percussions, a groovy bassline and underlying eerie synths with reverbed vocal snippets giving it that extra depth. 'Close To Danger' is powerful and destined for the peak time with progressive synth lines and driving bass. On 'Club Chimes' Ryan teams up once again with Cesar Merveille to serve up intricate layers over mystical bell chimes creating a dark and mysterious vibe over a propulsive yet skipping beat.

Ryan Crosson has released tracks on groundbreaking labels such as like m-nus, Telegraph, Trapez, Wagon Repair, Soma, Spectral Sound and Supplemental Facts. Ryan also released the impressive, esoteric album 'DRM' and preceding EPs co-produced with Cesar Merveille. Not only a talented DJ and producer, Ryan has performed b2b live shows with Lee Curtiss as part of the Visionquest Thirteen tour at fabric and Movement in Detroit.

Cadenza favourite Cesar Merveille is also now a staple part of the Visionquest crew and it's safe to say we will see more collaboration's with Ryan in the future.

Various - Uncanny Valley 025

After the extensive "Uncanny Valley 20" compilation we go back to our classic 4- track-format for "Uncanny Valley 025". Taking the chance to introduce 3 new artists to our roster, we warmly welcome Lake People, Philipp Triebel and RJ (who is also one half of Duererstuben) to add their distinctive flavour to this record. Lake People doesn't need an introduction anymore as his smart and emotional productions are making rounds from Ibiza to your basement club around the corner. His "Unexpected End Of Archive" is another example for his knack to produce tracks that evokes an emotional maelstrom on the dance floor. Beautiful synth melodies are meandering throughout the tune while the slick drum arrangement provides just enough tension to keep your feet on the floor. Philipp Triebel caught our ear with his live set when we played together at a party in his hometown Giessen. After handing in demos for some time he now contributes "Unity" to this compilation. Clocking in at just 4 and a half minutes it gets us moving with tight chords, tricky drums and a short but prominent synth melody that will be heavy on the dance floor. The B-side features two tracks by RJ who will also be a member of RBMA 2015 in Tokyo. "Leo" is an excellent piece of slowly rising House music that pushes the right buttons at just the right time. With melancholic robots on vocals duties and dreamy synth pads this track literally tells a story. Closing the record is "Nie" which rises the pace and takes a similar path like its predecessor with moony synths and a very catchy melody. As always with the Various Artists EPs on Uncanny Valley, the artwork is by courtesy of illustrator Paul Waak, this time with a fresh new approach.

Powel - Cloud City

Powel

Cloud City

12inchFINA013
FINA
09.09.2013

Powel aka Paul Christie is a Berlin based DJ/Producer, and a relatively fresh name on the underground house circuit. Christie has previously released material with some exciting new labels, namely, Berlin-based label Keller, Wunderbar Recordings and Deliciuse, here he joins the FINA roster, well and truly putting him on the map, and slotting in alongside Move D, Cottam and Leif.

Title track 'Cloud City' opens the single here, an ethereal deep house number featuring an amalgamation of cosseting synth tones, understated, organic drums and intricate, blooming melodies. This is a stunning opener for the EP and a clear-cut sign that Powel has a deep-seated knowledge for sculpting heartfelt house music.

Up next is 'Falling In A Black Hole', which sees Powel take a more reserved approach and minimal sentiment, opting for sparse drums, emotive chord progressions and smooth pad lines.

On the B-Side of the release, first up we have 'I'm Talking Quietly', Powel drops the tempo down to create a chuggy, disco inflected feel. Throwing in loose, organic percussion for an authentic nu-disco feel, while piano chords, heavily delayed strings and sax licks further fuel the musicality, adding a further charm and character to the record. Then up last to close things is 'Getting Out', embracing a similar slo-mo, low-slung aesthetic to the preceding track, yet introducing a gritty electronic bass hook and analogue style synth lines this time to create a brilliantly contrasting track, and rounding off a stellar package full of understated, intelligent electronic music.

Mark Allister - Not Going Back

Giant Records is the new label from Grant Dell, a man that has been at the forefront of the tech-house scene for over 15 years and has amassed a truly enviable back catalogue of releases. Giant's first release is from Mark Allister, whose skill for crafting a proper old school tech-house groove on "Not Going Back" is more than matched by his talent for laying down vocals. Complementing this original, Jay Tripwire turns in a self-styled "Marimba machine redux", whilst label head Grant Dell chooses to focus on Allister's vocal for a remix that possesses keys that wouldn't sound out of place on a Kraftwerk track. Supported by Mr G, Doc Martin, Eddie Richards, John Digweed, Richie Hawtin.
