Kojiki Groove' is Magnesii's second release on Chronocircle. Compared to his previous 'CIRCLE002', this is more of a club orientated 12" rather than it's hypnotic psych-techno predecessor.
Magnesii makes hypnotic music, preferably in a space out of time and reality. Embracing the absence of computers and screens, the absence of any digital window into the world.

Some Magnesii tracks form a conceptual whole, CIRCLE002 is an example of this: it's a piece of music made to epitomize a psycho-dramatic hallucinate trip from the past. Sounds to emulate saturated and hypnotic imagery.

W&P Hgg is back to Deep Explorer since his last release on the label in 2010. This new EP contains "Edit gospel #5", a hard to find old classic tune by W&P Hgg and two new versions of the song by the Deep Explorer heads, one killer club cut by Dubbyman and another downbeat take for chilled moments. Is crurch time...

Herman Prime's debut 12', 'Maajo' is a beautiful ode to spring and new birth. "Maajo" pays homage to Nigerian music, with its borrowed vocals from juju style's King 'Sunny' Ade. The track has a house foundation, which shows in its fat kick drums and sub bass groove, while the hypnotic Rhodes melody harkens to early minimal electronic pioneers such as Manuel Göttsching.

The B-side, 'Maajo (Take Four)', is a track of its own, a mutant revision of the emotional original. This version is not just a slightly altered copy but an electronic dub that takes the original to a completely different direction. Talking drums and a polyrhythm structure maintain the dreamy, Nigerian feel, but the dystopic, detuned synths have the scent of an underground techno bunker.

Jon Thureson, alias Herman Prime, has been open-mindedly DJing and producing music for 15 years. He has a broad understanding of musical language which helps him to infuse his various influences. With his strong background in house and disco, Jon often reaches beyond the limits of both genres towards new frontiers. His love affair with West African styles and electronic Krautrock shows on 'Maajo'.

Seagull Records is a spin-off from disco rework factory Kojak Giant Sounds and 'Maajo' is a slightly moodier and housier departure from the labels usual repertoire.

"Memory" is the new solo EP from WYS! co owner and resident Jacob Husley.

'The first track for the EP was the first track I wrote after becoming a dad this year, I sent it to Chris aka Glimpse to see if he would remix it and he responded 'Yes Big Daddy' hence the title"

The originals warm atmosphere is broken up by a darker bass stab, a dreamy vocal floats on top of the underlying bouncy sub bass. The track builds and breaks finally dropping into a harder groove with busy 909 claps sprayed on top.

Glimpses remix strips the track down and adds his own trademark warm dusty kick drums and percussion. The vocal gets pitched down, resulting in "one of those" special tracks that can be dropped anytime guaranteed and tested to groove and get the dance floor moving.

'The Second track is called Madeira . Its where i got married"

The Madeira Original is created using a lot of quirky live elements such as drumsticks being played on the studio table and Jacob finger tapping on a old cello. Its steady deep dubby bass line gets the track rolling to a climax where two synth lines slowly intertwine before finally unifying. The drop breaks into the resolution, exposing the clearing mood of the rest of the track.

Axel Boman's remix is unique and true to form. His humour and playfulness maximises the originals love and warmth .A very personal intro directed to Mr Husley himself is reminiscent of a prankster drunken message you might vaguely remember getting on your answer machine after a night out. The track offers a fresh bassline with a more energetic housey feel. Elements of the original synth lines floating on top.

The past two years without a jozif release have felt like an eternity at Culprit headquarters. Imagine the collective relief and delight, when one of the label's core artists had a veritable musical outpouring, delivering five delicious originals. Too rich with originality and some of jozif's best ideas to be contained within one collection, 'Waikiki' will be released in two parts, accompanied by exciting reworks coming from some of the label's favorite artists.

Part 1 shows jozif's unwavering dedication to genre-defying, timeless dance music. Analogue disco meets old school r'n'b and funk, framed by a modern deep house feel, all delivered with jozif's typical poise and a sense of musical adventure. Never the one to hem himself by expectation of others, jozif continues unabated on his unique path. 'Waikiki' accomplishes real depth with lightness of touch, yet again rewarding Culprit's faith in the artist with some of the best music in the label's cannon.

Remixes on 'Waikiki' Part 1 arrive courtesy of Matt Tolfrey and No Regular Play. Tolfrey is another Culprit mainstay, with the working relationship spanning almost the entirety of label's existence. His take on 'Good Man' is warm yet trippy, its deadly groove led by a terrific bassline. Brooklyn's No Regular Play are long time friends of Culprit, with Greg Paulus (one half of the duo) having featured on a pair of remixes by Thugfucker and Signal Flow recently. This is the Wolf + Lamb family members' first proper work for Culprit and it's assured electronic funk is a very welcome addition to the release.

Yoruba Records is happy to release this dance floor ready EP by label head Osunlade. Stretching across a range of styles there's something for everyone in this release, an absolute must for every DJ's bag. The EP opens up with the title track, What Pho. A relaxing jam driven by a powerful sounding grand piano and complimented by shakers, the added backing percussion and subtle bird chirps lend well to the creation of this track's rainforest-esque mystique. Next up is the deep, almost jazzy track - Jus' Anuda Groove. The rolling bass line and four to the floor beat will get you moving - and keep you there - as Osunlade reminds us that this is just another groove. Opening up the B-side is Schavanna, a funky, guitar-driven track whose pulsating bass line and friendly but muffled vocals will keep people moving on the floor. Finally, the EP closes with The Waiting Game, a hypnotic, tribal-learning track with a foot-stomping beat, colored with the seductive vocals of Rainy Payne, it's hard to tell which is more captivating, the groove itself or the story line she unfolds.

Celebrating 5 years of Needwant, the imprint that made the world familiar with Mario Basanov, Kim Ann Foxman, Ejeca, Maxxi Soundsystem and many more, asks their now admired artists and its extended family to create fresh reinterpretations of its stunning back catalogue.

This 4 track vinyl sampler creates new associations between artists with standout results, as artists reinterpret material from the Needwant vaults for this special limited edition 12'. The sampler features brand new mixes from Nicholas', with his take on Kim Ann Foxman's 'Hyopnotic Dance', as well as a Uluru's reversion of Maxi Soundsystem's 'Make or Break', all seemingly fording a new groove to these already formidable house records. Mark E makes his own retake on 'We Could Love' with a Sadness Of Yesterday mix and The Revenge unearths fresh depths with his take on James Fox's cut, 'Holding On'.

All 12' vinyl samplers come with a download code of the 4 remixes, as well as nearly 20 other tracks taken from the double digital album including further new remixes and some highlights from the Needwant back catalogue.

Let's Play House's latest endeavor is a no-nonsense imprint, simply dubbed LPH WHITE, which, as the name implies, takes a cue from those mysterious, classic, unmarked dance records of years past.

The debut 12' comes courtesy of London-based duo Waze & Odyssey, who, as is to be expected, deliver a couple of top-notch club bangers (the deadly 'Feelin' You' and deeper 'Gonna Make This') that will immediately shred any dancefloor to pieces. The one remix included in the package is by London-by-way-of-Southern California up-and-comer Urulu. (The second WHITE EP will feature four originals by the guy.)

Supplying us with a vast array of sounds and textures, Deep Site Recordings vinyl imprint gives us the 'Honey Bunny EP' from the very talented Producer and DJ, Jesus Gonsev hailing from Real, Spain. With a wide discography from labels such as Peppermint Jam, Prog City, House Cafe Music, Gastspiel and Tenor Recordings, not to mention his own imprint, the highly respected 'Troubled Kids Records' Mr. Gonsev shows us what he's all about with this 4-track EP.

'Honey Bunny (Original Mix)' lays down an extended intro with rustling percussive sounds. The organ riffs resonate along with a deep bass section grooving from start to finish. 'Honey Bunny (Sunshine Jones Remix)' brings in the piano amid soothing sweeps and a throbbing bass.

The synth line is reminiscent of Lil Louis' French Kiss. 'Walking in the Glass (Original Mix)' puts a sophisticated shuffle on the highs and a steel-drum sound for authenticity.

The rolling bass line coupled with the inspirational melodic vibes modulate with finesse through to the finish. 'Honey Bunny (Satore Remix)' commences with a dark tribal feel expanding into an uplifting deep house theme then reverts back to the mysterious providing the listener with an ultimate journey into hybrid sounds

Talented producer and live artist Pezzner is next up on the Visionquest imprint to deliver a stunning four track musical soundscape in the form of 'The Island Fantastic EP'.

'The Answer' is a deep groover for the dance floor, while 'Bird Flu' strips things back moving into a luscious melody and abstract beat. Over on the B-side 'The Island Fantastic' rolls with intricate percussions and shakes, building with intensity. Last up 'Anthology' is a deep chugger culminating into a medley of melodic synths and haunting vocals.

Resident of Seattle Washington, David Brian Pezzner is a welcome addition to the Visionquest catalogue. After some time producing music as a duo he decided to go solo and in 2010 he released his debut album on Freerange Records. He's since had releases and remixes on labels such as Systematic Recordings, 8 Bit and Crosstown Rebels receiving a massive response. Sought-after as remixer, he has been called upon to reinterpret the works of Josh Wink, Groove Armada, and Underworld just to name a few. Always featuring new productions, remixes and originals, his live set continues to take him to the far edges of the dance music map, reaching the heights of festival appearances and club shows all over the world.

Originally released in 1999, these two cuts from the rare "FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT EP" get reissued on the NOBLE SQUARE imprint. The first track is a groovin’ deep house vibe with powerful spoken word parts. "CHANGES" on the flipside is a splendid melody-filled deep tune with a classic SJU sound.

DEETROIT drops a confident 6 tracker that is going many places while still keeping the die-hard UDR fans fed with that raw sound they want! With this fourth 12" you should know by now what to expect.
