Stefanik is a phenomenon! On the one side he is that crazy-cool party animal with amazing DJ-skills. His DJ-sets feature a wide variation of techno-, house- and minimal tunes all mixed up in a fresh and easy way that almost no one can escape from. On the other side he is this über-talented producer who sometimes doesn't sound like his DJ-sets at all. On his recent album for Cocoon Recordings Stefanik painted musical pictures of different moods and for different moments. A soundtrack for people living in the modern club world of cities like Berlin or London. Days of joy and sun vs. grey and cold mornings or foggy and dusty club nights, there was something for everybody and every moment. However with his new release on Cocoon Recordings Stefanik proofs how versatile he is as a producers by creating a vibe that refers more to his DJ-sets. Stefanik melts down different club music ingredients to one unique mix here. We hear influences from Detroit, Chicago and Berlin mixed up in identical quantities. Deeper house meet masculine basslines ("Signs") and pitched-up Inner-City-like-beats merge with driving hi-hats and chopped up vocal-samples before the whole arrangement receives a proper 90s UK-styled synthesizer-polish ("Illuminations"). This is big, this is pure and it breathes energy. Thanx Mr. Stefanik for this nice mix-up of 25 years of house and techno however all sounding fresh and modern. This only works with technomusic kids!

First appearance of the duo Giorgi & POM on their own vinyl only Imprint TRAFO. The A -side starts off with the trippy tune "Mitrax" which is supported by a functional remix from Fabe (Cocoon, Salty Nuts). On the flip side "Elek Orch" and "Ampeks" round up the EP with repetitive house vibes. Different roots, common patterns.

Keysound Recordings are proud to present an EP from one of the UK's most exciting production talents, Otik.
The EP consists of four original productions on vinyl 'Top Ten', 'Latex', 'Notion' and 'True Level,' plus on the digital a refix of 'Top Ten' from label co-owner Blackdown 'Top Ten.'. Collectively they are weighty contributions to the space emerging between techno and bass music currently being forged by labels such as Timedance, Hessle Audio, 3024 and Ilian Tape. 'And Keysound of course haha...' adds Otik. 'I've been very inspired by these labels'. 'I'm based in North East London but I'm originally from Bristol. I've been producing since the age of about 15 but didn't really get into UK dance music until the age of 18,' he adds. In recent times, Otik's released on 17 Steps, Dusky's label, DEXT Recordings, Durkle Disco, Push & Run, Tessier-Ashpool and Infinite Machine. He will also be releasing on Nous Disques later this year.
What Recordings present their new release the M-EP (What03)
with the original tracks - Muzic' and - Mentiv'.After the What members and label owners Tobi Neumann and Patrick Ense released their first two EPs in 2017 they had earlier this year already a highly respected release - What you doing'" in collaboration with Dorian Paic and legendary singer Eric D'Clark on Arno Einzelkind's imprint La Peña. They went back to their studio and came out with this two little gems. The track - Muzic" was already played by Ricardo Villalobos on several festivals during this summer.
'Bugs' is AUS label owner Will Saul's first solo EP in over 4 years and follows his inaugural release on new Aus compilation series, Inside Out. Here's Will on the A side.... 'Bugs' is inspired as much by dancing at Plastic People/Co-op to the Bugz In The Attic as is it is by Carl Craig's Innerzone Orchestra track Bugs In The Bass Bin. Hopefully I bring my own twist to these key influences...... 'The Map Room' tumbles with big, swinging drums as a fervid sense of tension burns throughout before Matt Karmill takes 'Bugs' off on a linear dubbed out excursion to complete the package....
Three electro powerhouses join forces and take on remixing honors for Kadebostany's melancholic summer ballad "Mind If I Stay". Leader of Republic Kadebostany, the main artist has previously channeled his output on labels such as Freude Am Tanzen or Fenou, a sublabel of Dapayk's skillful producer Mo's Ferry. Ensnared by the compelling vocals, the artists take it on as the focal point in their arrangements, each in their own unique and memorable style.
Berlin's Sebastian Doering aka lovebirds signs a glistening, disco-infused reiteration, stripping down Rhita Natta's vocals and focusing on a deep and playful layering. What results is a glitch-tinged highly melodic piece that's perfect for warm sunny days.
Hailing from Dortmund and bringing in his modern house Ruhr sound, Kittball's Ante Perry serves up a light-filled exploration, channeling airy pads and dreamy atmospheres.
Known for his instrumental-driven productions, Cocolino label chief SIS offers up an intricately deep journey laced with wispy strings and mellifluous chords.

Drumcode returns with its 6th installment of the internationally celebrated A-Sides series. Renowned for fostering a shared space between industry tastemakers and rising talent alike, the careful curation that goes into each volume is a fine example of why Beyer's brand continues to go from strength to strength.
Techno titan Adam Beyer has grown Drumcode into a force to be reckoned with; the label has become synonymous with forward-thinking, functional techno and even after 20 years, Drumcode continues to find new boundaries to push, and ways to solidify its legacy as the world's number one techno label.
2017 is no exception, with Beyer's imprint hosting it's first stage at Tomorrowland, not to mention the expansion of the critically acclaimed Junction 2 where the Drumcode stage is the centrepiece and Adam plays the key role of festival director. The Drumcode phenomenon continues to grow each week, chiefly fuelled by Drumcode Radio, Adam's radio show that's broadcast in 57 countries via 86 stations and to a global audience of 16 million techno fans per week.
The A-Sides series acts as a perfect vignette of Drumcode's cutting-edge sound; functional yet inspired techno, all tracks tried and tested by Beyer himself. Vol. 6 continues this tradition with a collection of 16 multi-faceted cuts from a mixture of both emerging artists and experienced label friends.
The heart-throbbing bass in Amelie Lens' electrifying piece 'In Silence' sets the tone for the dark and dance-floor-ready energy that Vol.6 carries the whole way through. Other standouts include Mars Bill's rough'n'ready 'Mohave'. Pulsating and precise, 'Mohave' has highlighted many of Beyer's sets recently as has Wehbba's monster track 'Fake', which fans have been anticipating the release of all year.
Label-favourites Dense & Pika also feature on 'A-Sides' Vol. 6 with their hard-hitting 'Just a Beat' and a huge track from Beyer himself who has joined forces with Enrico Sangiuliano to bring us their undeniably infectious 'Preset Heaven'.
With many more notable selections from the likes of Julian Jewell, Timmo, Tiger Stripes and Pig&Dan, A-Sides Vol. 6 is another impressive addition to the label's prolific release roster and a testament to why Drumcode remains at the forefront of the electronic world.

Rotate's first release as a vinyl imprint comes as a collective sonic statement of seven chapters. With tracks from all the music crafters of the family, Rotate starts the year with steady momentum, in a collection of different-yet-unified sound that combines wit, fresh attitude and unique musical signatures.
Makcim & Levi Verspeek cut the ribbon with peculiar focus on groove, and a sizzling atmosphere to match. Their 'Chickens Night Out' (A1) works as a cradle for slowly building albeit steady dancefloor motions, without ever forgetting the balance that the use of intertwined warm tones can actually create. Mattia Lapucci grabs the gears of the (already moving) train and keeps it rotating with 'External' (A2), adding tips and bits of steady beat programming, joyful chords and filtered, unspoken vocals to a galactic sonic cauldron.
Gua Camole kicks the flip-side with 'Drop Out' (B1), a 4 by 4 excursion to a land of hypnotic rhythms, eerie synth pads and unrecognizable vocal samples that ultimately feed a atmosphere of already great mystery and idiosyncratic acid patterns. 'Tournikottipannacotta' (B2) is David Gluck's take on drum-machine experimentalism and full-toned low-ends in full effect, reminiscent of the early 00's signature micro-house movement where microscopic sample-cutting and shuffled hi-hats were all the rage.
Cleymoore's 'Endless Rotation' (C1) is a 15-minute journey through startling soundscapes, sweltering synths and his endemic, hand-shifted drum arrangements. Dialogues from a obscure french cult movie ebb and flow throughout the entire arrangement along with Photonz's pulsating synths, ultimately setting a hypnotic, provocative tone to the second record.
Loopdeville opens the last side of the compilation with 'Humo' (D1), a pulsating, almost cardiac low-end arrangement of kicks and bass stabs that rumble beneath a palette of warm chords and shamanic, humming vocals for pure mental thrill. Andrea Cichecki's 'Tethys' (D2) finishes Rotate's seven-part story with a fine exercise on sonic delirium and total loss of equanimity. Between the warm, yet slightly lunatic tone of her modular system melodies and soundscapes, there's a discerning attitude and sharp poise in her drum arrangements, as if making people dance while lost in time and space would be possible. And it is, they keep rotating.

A real Techno / House / Electrosynth Stomper!! "Patrik Book has being in our knowledge since we were kids and listening to his early project AUSGANG VERBOTEN "Entertainment", a real underground synth tape released back in 84 and later re-released as LP by Genetic Music 2004." Enough said, 100% POWER! This wont slip!
support by:
Pig & Dan (COCOON), Danny Tenagliy, Axel Bartsch, Hermanez, Terry Francis, Andre Rozzo (mountain people), Luke Miskelly (fuse), This is why we dance, Enzo Siragusa (fuse), Marco Duranti (UGLH), Lewis Ryder, Andrea Ferlin (sleep is commercial, contexterrior), Magda, Orde Slam (Soma/Paragraph), Hernan Cattaneo, Paco Osuna, Richie Hawtin, Dubfire...
Since opening their digital doors in 2009, Lucidflow has built up quite a following of admirers; luminaries such as Slam, Hernan Cattaneo, Joris Voorn, Vince Watson, Steve Rachmad, Laurent Garnier, Dubfire, Guy J and many more have checked in since inception to get a piece of the action. With Lucidflow defying convention and going analogue in the last year, it makes sense for them to tap into their pool of friends and admirers for the latest in their vinyl releases. Nadja Lind & Friends is a collection of works with some of the Lucidflow family and a chance for long time supporters of the esteemed Berlin based imprint to own something more tangible.
There is no finer way to kick off than with Saharan Night, a collaboration with scene legend and veteran Brendon Moeller. A veritable production machine, his dub heavy sound is a natural fit with the Lucidflow sonic template, the deep and bubbling tones an ideal counterpoint for Nadja's sharp and swinging beat programming.
Quintin Christian made his Lucidflow debut back on LF039 (MoodWarp, Quintin Christian and Vandermeer's Illusion) and gets his chance to rub shoulders with the Lucidflow co-owner on Place Of Bliss. Significantly lighter in mood than Saharan Night but no less deep, breathless tension is the theme with field samples conjuring up the mood of middle eastern twilight. This airy mood counterpointed by the deep and bassy vocal sample that runs through the track.
Staples of DJ boxes worldwide don't come recommended more than tracks and remixes from Chris Lattner. If this is a name you are not currently acquainted with then just look at the support from DJ's such as Kerri Chandler (on his recent Watergate 15), Nick Harris (head of the sadly shuttered NRK, who featured a Lattner remix on the farewell NRK compilation) and Hot Creation's Richy Ahmed (who plucked a Lattner release for the exceptionally current Rinse mix series). Here, on Drifting Elements, Lattner keeps things skeletal, swinging the beats and letting the dub chords chime out.
To tie off the release, Nadja provides a standalone moment in Berlin All Day Long. Crafted after a seriously demanding tour schedule, it is the glorious return to the mothership. The huge and cheery dub chords provide an instant hook to a track that feels both Germanic and like it is hitting the vibe of classic New Jersey house in equal measure. Smiles all around guaranteed on this flourishing 12' series.

Don't be fooled by the ominous title, it's a family affair this one! Simina Grigoriu teams up with sibling Moe Danger and life partner Paul Kalkbrenner on the Shark Island EP, with K-Paul on remix duties and a special appearance by the label's youngest member, Paul & Simina's daughter.
The title track sets the tone with throaty vocal chops that add mystery to its clacking percussion and devilish synth lead. The effect is an intense build up, with the tension gradually released in the second half, by the way of dreamy synth arpeggios that lighten up the overall mood.
Kalkbrenner applies a staccato feel that tilts towards a more bouncy version of the original. Giving the track new life through a novel melody, it evolves into a deeply affecting piece, as its pulsating rhythm keeps the energy at a constant high.
You might know K-Paul as the electrifying half of the 90's dance duo Lexy & K-Paul, a trait that applies to his production style, as well as in his remixing effort for Shark Island. With a more enigmatic, hyper-gradual release technique, this particular remix unveils jarring electro synths with brooding countermelodies.

A new collaboration project on Crowdspacer.
Bryce Hackford, part of one of the most daring DJ crew in NYC (Deep Trouble), true purveyor of a certain New York club culture legacy (think Arthur Russell) and author of 2 acclaimed albums, came to Joakim's studio and after a few hours of live synth and drum machine jamming, JHACK was born. I would describe this as 'psychedelic voodoo house music'. But it's up to you really.

With the Telepathy Ep, new talent Dalvik debuts on vinyl with four high-quality, classic underground house tracks. "Real" starts off as a deep, Prescription Underground inspired track, yet with plenty of fresh new ideas and a voice sampling to be recognized. "After Glow" is a slower hypnotic synth journey perfect for the early morning DJ set or to chill to the day after. The B-side starts off with a peak hour house slammer, serving as a nice complement to the deeper A side. The final track is a more leftfield, experimental journey, with vocal snippets and trippy synths. The under the radar label Romb records delivers another dj favorite!

New York experimentalists Sheik N Beik continue on form as they follow up records from Japan's Keita Sano, Legowelt & Xosar and Jeffrey Scott with a bold and atmospheric 12' from Jerry Riggs & Maxwell Church a.k.a Hermans. Hailing from Toronto - Hermans specialise in their own brand of esoteric Techno that lends them perfectly to a release on Sheik N Beik. Their 'Things Change' EP slots neatly into the catalogue with its blend of spooky melodies and analogue drum work.
'Diana (How You've Changed)' kicks things off with an infectious vocal loop and juddering drum patterns. Brooklyn's Max Pask then follows up with his take on 'Diana' which sets 909 drums over a thick, burning acid line. 'Endless Toil' then follows up with a tightly wound groove built with metallic whacks and frazzled, flexing synth tones. 'Forget The Past' then brings the package to a thumping close as manic synth lines dart between crunching drums in another strong addition to Sheik N Beik's catalogue.

Following 2014's well received album for Third Ear under his :Brownstudy alias, 'Life Well Lived', Jason Hogans steps away from the mic to focus on an LP of flawless instrumentals. Returning to production under his own name for the first time since Carl Craig's Planet E label released his album Peter And The Rooster in 1998, 'The Age of Scrap' belies its title to instead deliver a forward thinking record rooted in classic Detroit, fused with futurist sonics and dope beats. Hogans seamlessly combines strains of house, jazz and hip hop, as well as the futurist bass pioneered by the likes of LA's Brainfeeder collective, throughout seven perfectly formed musical excursions. After more than a decade of exploration, Kundi's first release remarks a new beginning of the artist, a newly born label, and a platform for merchandising music.
Hovering between melancholy and melodic hopefulness with Kundi's techno signature, Passing Strangers' unfolds into a 3-track LP. The triangular composition was inspired by "The Color Wheel Theory of Love" — a theory created by a Canadian psychologist John Alan Lee to describe different types of love.
Replacement Duty, representing a loner's longing for connection after long hours of sleep deprivation, enters with a plain sound and clean definition as the track evolves the wandering leads and progressive bass-line hits the composition.
The Color Wheel brings the mind back to more familiar, safer places. A long-awaited attempt at restoring conventional ways, its unveiling bassline puts the senses back to rest from dismays, confusions, and sparse feelings.
Passing Strangers, on its peak, concedes a confession of a disappointment. A technoid tripping with strong punch, a play of intertwining sounds and melancholic evolving arrangement, opens access to psyche's unusual places as a realization of the consequences of expectations.

Midwich is proud to present Moon Pool and Dead Band's MEQ (pronounced MEK--futurespeak for `mech'), an album of swinging, dirty, analog techno-funk, created with mountains of old synthesizers. MEQ consists of Moon Pool and Dead Band's earliest track, reworked by some of Detroit's (and ex-Detroit) best producers: Patrick Russell, BMG (Brendan M. Gillen of Ectomorph), JTC (James T. Cotton/Dabrye/Charles Manier aka Tadd Mullinix), Ice Cold Chrissy (Coyote Clean Up), Michael Dykehouse, Erno the Inferno and Nate Young in Wolf Eyes mode. MEQ plays like an album, rather than a collection of remixes. The remixers were supplied with "stems" nearly one-half hour long, leaving each with an abundance of raw material at their disposal. There are no cloying, repetitive vocal hooks to disrupt the sonic narrative. Deep, dystopian techno-funk is delivered with the unerring raw assurance that only seasoned masters could deliver, leaving the music's rough edges appealingly unvarnished. The strong, danceable music is rugged enough to test the limits of any club sound-system, yet contains nuances, subtleties and warmth that make it ideal for home listening. Mastered by Ruud Lekx (Rude 66) and cut by Josh Bonati at Bonati Mastering in NYC. MEQ comes housed in a wide full-color UV gloss jacket featuring artwork by renowned sci-fi illustrator, Mark Salwowski, with layout by designer Beth Hall. A digital download code is included. Detroit-based Moon Pool and Dead Band's David Shettler and Nate Young both have long and diverse musical histories: David Shettler is an in-demand musician and producer, playing with legendary outfits SSM, The Sights, Rodriguez, Paul Collins, Scott Morgan and many more. Nate Young is known for his work with Wolf Eyes, Regression, Dan'l Boone, Demons and many more. He is also known for his visual art and has exhibited in galleries worldwide.

It's been nearly two years since the last Sanys record. In the meantime, techno has flirted with noise and industrial, often resulting in gloomy self-indulgence.Thankfully, there is no such creative verbiage on this seventh instalment of Downfall Theory. 'Seizure' starts the release with a robust, stepping rhythm and relentless stabs playing out against atmospheric, eerie textures. It's like Shed's Wax project jamming with Deepchord.
Next up is 'Natural High'. This is one of Sanys' darkest moments so far; inspired by the depth and length of the St Petersburg winter, it sees the Russian producer lay down a visceral, muddy rhythm, against which ghostly shrieks and waves of frosty chords, blown in from the Baltic Sea, meet. 'Free Society' follows and at this stage the release takes a left of centre turn. It centres on a dense groove, defined by beats that collapse in on top of one another, space invader bleeps and some of the spookiest synths this side of John Carpenter. It's only for the bravest selectors, but once dropped it'll cause havoc. The Clouds remix of 'Seizure' closes out the release; the Scottish pair take a break from releasing on labels like Turbo, Soma, Opal Tapes and Electric Deluxe to deliver a noisy broken beat version. Focusing on noisy, malfunctioning computer tones and bolstered by killer subs, it's a far cry from Sanys' original version but is sure to appeal to anyone with an interest in the interface between techno, bass and knackered machines.

Infrasonics presents the second part in Spatial's three-part series Emergence, encompassing music and digital art. Early support has come from Machinedrum, A Made Up Sound, Mosca, Mumdance, Ekoplekz, Hodge, Ben UFO, and Beneath among other DJs. Focusing on the progression of intensive rhythmic phrases arranged in multiple layers, these rhythms seek an active neurophysical response by experimental means, as opposed to familiar patterns derived from genre. Both pieces are emphasised and systematically developed in the bass, to outline a narrative assimilable in terms of basic neurophysical functioning preceding musical understanding. In terms of generalised meaning, Reanimator' is primarily characterised by an alertness to the emergence of new possibilities, as well as suggesting a desire for experimentation in fields with ambiguous potential. Tensegrity' is characterised by a mood of tension in response to a large but otherwise unknown event rapidly approaching. It is further characterised by the difficulty involved in strategizing in the face of uncertain conditions. Coexistent with its application inside the framework of club-DJ-audience, the work is presented within a multidisciplinary approach. On the 12' vinyl a URL is printed as the only information. This leads to track information alongside an evolving visual work hosted on the web. These visuals are generated by a genetic algorithm, a mathematical expression of the understanding of genetics and evolution implicit in modern biology. It's pressed on heavyweight 180g silver vinyl and housed in a printed transparent sleeve. Emergence part 3 is forthcoming later this year.

Play It Say It welcome a trio of top talents in Luca M, JUST2 and Atapy for a new EP featuring four fresh dancefloor tracks that are destined for big things.
Romanian Luca M is a real techno talent who counts mainstays like Marco Carola and Richie Hawtin as fans. From Suara to Terminal M, he has released on the most vital labels and runs his own Get Funky Music in collaboration with JUST2, who he works with here on three of the tracks. A fellow Romanian of equally international repute, he can lock in a dancefloor for hours on end.
Opener 'Acid Ghetto' is a masterfully slick house track with electrifying synths and restless, non-stop drums. The whole thing races along and sweeps you up with freaky vocal sounds, whirring machines and bendy pads that are as heady as they are dance friendly. The excellent 'Restore' is a supple groover with an elastic bassline and bright piano chords that will twist and turn the dancefloor out of shape and. Next up 'Bechamel' is more stripped back, with a dynamic deep house feeling permeated by dark chopped up vocals and the sort of slippery rhythm that hypnotises the whole club.
The final track is from JUST2 & Atapy, a producer who has been making his mark since 2010 on the likes of Get Physical and working with artists such as Noir and Louisahhh!!!. Their 'Levels' is a perfectly bumping house track with rich, rubbery drums and tumbling synth chords that bring an off-kilter charm to the driving grooves.

This summer, Skint Records serve up a brilliant package of remixes of Midfield General's huge 1999 smash 'Reach Out' with Linda Lewis. The new remixes come from the one and only Crooked Man and feature vocals re-recorded by Linda in 2000 which were consigned to a draw waiting for the right person to use them. Crooked Man is that person, aka Richard Barratt, a uniquely inventive house and disco producer whose self-titled 2016 album on DFA was one of the most revered of the year. He has a knack for off-kilter greatness and has also released on Optimo Trax. Interestingly, he and Midfield General both worked together on Zebra Face, a cartoon about a hip hop obsessed Zebra and his diabetic side kick for Channel 4. The show featured voices from Kid Acne, Jarvis Cocker, Roots Manuva and Lady Chann amongst others. It also turned out that Midfield General was a huge fan of the Crooked Man album before realising who was behind it, so got in touch ask for some remixes.
The results are 2 typically unusual new dance floor bombs.
The classy Remix #2 is down and dirty, with warped bass twisting and turning underneath metallic drum hits. The vocals are more aloof here and lend the whole track a feeling of effortless cool as synths gently undulate and carry you late into the night. Another standout effort, Remix #3 is somewhere in-between. It's an airy track with driving house drums and hits, and elegiac synths that bring real dynamism and musicality to the track. It's clean and soulful in design and one to bring the whole floor together as one.
These tasteful remixes have emotion and groove to spare.
