What do you do when you are part-time bored, when you are part-time broke and - even better - when you claim to make and live dance music (of course, also part-time) Well you are obviously running a record label. This is what Johannes Albert does since 5 fun years and 20 releases. Releasing his own music on vinyl but also his mates stuff. From Achterbahn D'Amour to Smallpeople via Jeremiah, from Fred P and Lauer remixes back to french youngsters Ralph & Larry Houl. So Frank will celebrate this anniversary among life & happiness early 2016 with two twelche inches and a lousy tour. Starting with the lamest of all - Johannes himself - to be followed by a bulky rework by Oskar Offermann. Flipside ticks in with heartbreaker Phillip Lauer and his bottomless love for all things Lohret. Markus Mutzenbacher hailing from Würzburg in southern Germany - a djs dj - manages to drop his first track ever. after only 15 years of being a dj. this guy is an inspiration. Let's just be frank shall we



(Oskar Offermnn Remix)

Der Interpret is a collaboration of Arne Schaffhausen from Extrawelt and his long time friend Marcus C. Maichel with whom he (and also Wayan Raabe) collaborated in early days under the moniker of The Delta. The trax have been recorded in the Extrawelt studio and feature 3 tracks. As Arne Schaffhausen said, Marcus was a mentor to him in the beginning and it was really nice to team up with him again after so long for this special 3 track vinyl.

The opening track "Since Forever" brings ideas of early techno and rave, so to speak big bold chords reminiscent of Inner City "Good Life" or any other good R&S act of that time, together with tiny climbing tones that install that certain kind of hypnotic and analog trippyness that melts on top of their beats like snow.
A nostalgic moment turns up for sure when the track plunges into the break and gives full attention to the chord melody and so it is a flashback to a great period of time full of euphoria the two have shared here with "Since Forever".

The b1 track on the vinyl EP is "Landfall"."Landfall" is a sensual paraglider of a post Detroit track. Carried by a cautiously raised and lowered synth tone sequence it acts as if a step beyond could cause enormous damage.  
The track then aviates through a cool beat programming which is quite Extrawelt-nesque, keeping that balance nice grooves can achieve... hangs in the air in a good way... only to be interrupted by a loud Detroit - electro synth stab that cuts the track in two parts. All that just lasts for a bit longer than a second, the chord is then sucked into the arrangement to a degree where you could say it is almost absorbed... as if it was the most natural thing to be.  

The "Since Forever Dub" is a phantasmic remix as it really shows that a mix can create something totally new. So that might be the mix for all of you who cannot relate so much to the old school idea of techno and instead seek a more atmospheric soothing dubbed out version. Feel at home with this version as we think it could easily have gone on forever. Rewind!

The remix which comes digitally is from Nick Dow who is a core artist now on Traum with his second EP released in May. 
He has remixed "Since Forever" in the fashion that he has
kept the quietness and repetition of elements of the original
and has added elements very carefully and gentle so to not twist things here too much but work rather from the inside out. Resulting in a very smooth and cool hypnotic remix!

One of the founding fathers of Chicago house, himself a grandson to a DJ and frequently alongside other greats such as Ron Hardy on the decks, Gene Hunt summons a 3-tracker for the Midnight Shift label. True house and techno direct from the source and in his own words, a rather 'jungly' take of it due to the tracks' chaotic percussion. 'Feeling It' takes you back to the original old school, with all the classic elements in place, it's a house lover's wet dream, 30 years after the fact. 'Spector' twists things up while keeping that pumping jacking groove a perfect intersection between then and now. 'Scatter' punches through the noise like a clarion call to arms - where are all our jacks and jackies at Report to the dancefloor, please.

The third edition of Figure's recently launched run of limited edition hybrid discs sees the label head helping a 90'ies classic to new glory. When originally released in 1995, Ian Pooley's Celtic Cross destroyed clubs everywhere with its iconic vocal sample and hypnotic bass bleeps. Len Faki's remix treatment is a sublte one, which manages to leave most of the original's Elements in tact while still expanding upon its fiercely banging character. The now sub-laden kicks stomp even heavier, the old-school drums rattle even crunchier and lashes of Faki's unrivaled hats whip the frenzied track through its now much slicker progression. Bringing the unashamed rave vibes from two decades ago up to modern production standards, this remix will have both the new generation of techno lovers as well as the veteran heads unite in joy on the dancefloor.

Kevin Arnemann and Daan Kemp's Taped Artifact record label is prepping its first release of 2017. Following the label's recently released various artists compilation, the Amsterdam based imprint welcomes two pioneers within the Icelandic techno scene: Ohm & Octal Industries. Ohm earned his stripes through his collaborations with Exos in the early 00's, whilst Octal Industries is a much-respected artist within the IDM scene under his Ruxpin alias. With the highly dub-influenced 'Maoss EP', the Icelandic duo follows up their recent appearance on Thor's renowned Thule Records. The four-tracker features highly textured, rhythmical and classic rooted dub techno, showcasing the iconic Icelandic aesthetic.

Aspecto Humano return to the vvaa format in their 3rd release with a 4 track sampler. Moderne Recordings label owners, The Revolving Eyes, present a schizophrenic 90's scent techno banger with their 'Imaginary Analysis'. Follows Holon, who brings in an apocalyptic odyssey in 'The Sky Comes Alive With Fire And War'. The incombustible Iron Blu offers on the flip a more optimistic vision with a crispy bassline and playful cosmic leads in his MoToRiKi. Finally, synth magician WC Olo Garb shows his skills in 'Lesson I learn', an intense track as if The KLF would meet Chris & Cosey to burn everything down.

Hailing from Chicago's South Side, the duo Dar Embarks lives in a world of underground techno and machines. Their debut album, FLEER EP, was recorded live on hardwares, no keys were played, just the pressing of buttons and turning of knobs. Gathering its inspiration from records on the shelf, sci fi and comics, Dar Embarks remains steadfast in technotic efforts to interpret the future...our future.

When someone drops a CD in, and says "I've recorded a couple of tracks, that I would like to put on on vinyl, would be up for distributing them " " One of them is not finished yet though, I just need to put some trumpets on it", well your expectations are not particularly high. It's a wonder that it even made it on toThe record flew out the door.Few months later we pressed a 12 for him on P&D deal. It didn't sell as well, which is often the way with records we love.

Fast forward few years.. I got a call from the 'No Trumpet Man' aka FAKE LEFT, who had another couple of tracks he'd done. My first thoughts were, sorry afraid we can't help out this time... then had a listen, second thoughts were.. Fuck Aye, these have got to go out. So here they are.

RAD-TRUMPET1 - as you'll see on the scribe.. well there is the story. When we sent this off to master, we were not sure what the catalogue number would be. So the files were titled Rad Trumpet.. with a view to updating before the lacquers were cut and test presses done. Of course we forgot, and only realised when the test presses came back as RAD-TRUMPET.. and I'm left having to explain to Graeme via these notes that he is 'affectionately' known here as Trumpet Man.

So RAD-FAKE we'll let the music speak for itself.. and not a trumpet in sight. Oh apart from the stamp.. but that's another more politically based story.

We move on with the summer days and our next chapter! We present to you atention the SV-12! 12 wonderful rarest tracks from Mr. Cloudy, deep, airy, rainy travel, take that November Night or Lumen tracks, dark as well, and the permanent Sleepy Vigil trilogy, keep us good to travel with Mr. Cloudy on his hypnotic worlds. Autumn Leaves and Rustle Of Morning Stars keep us warmer and kind, and awake with Smoke Spring. With Deep Road we are moving to new discoveries. And that's not all for sure, the White Rain is soothingly good to close this album. Here are collected all the cool deep rarest Mr. Cloudy tracks! Grandi Successi" is a project by Angelo Sindaco and Maurizio Carli Moretti with guests like Raime drummer Valentina Magaletti, Soft Moon Matteo Vallicelli, impro-avant combo Starfuckers, Jonathan Clancy (singer of His Clancyness) plus contemporary artist Claudio Corsello and writer-performer Emidio Clementi.
Angelo Sindaco started producing electronic industrial music on tape in the mid '80 and dark techno during the nineties, releasing albums for ACV, Minus Habens, Eukatech and more. He has been the first techno dj in Bologna (Italy) at Link Club sharing decks with Underground Resistance, Aphex Twin, Theo Parrish and many others. Maurizio Carli Moretti started djing in 1981 opening for Killing Joke and Contorsions acts and then performing in clubs and art galleries mixing dark wave and electronic music.

Yoruba Records is proud to welcome back Toto Chiavetta for the release of his debut album, 'Impermanence', split on vinyl format over two 12's. Hailing from Catania, Sicily, Toto is known for his deep, techy, and often moody dancefloor-ready jams. This album wastes no time getting down to business, with 'Impermanence' (Part 1) opening with 'Tenor': a chunky, deep tech tune lead by a beautiful tenor sax ensuring this one will make waves in the coming months. Teamed up with Running Back for a vinyl release, Bubbletease Communications' releases are defiantly infrequent, reflecting boss man Maurice Fulton's desire to only release personal projects and those he's somehow had a hand in. Given Fulton's track record, this approach guarantees a high quality threshold; in truth, Bubbletease releases are rarely less than excellent. This four-tracker from Tokyo-based DJ Nori, co-produced by Fulton, is predictably impressive. There's a touch of melancholic, acid-flecked stargazing in the shape of 'Spaceg' (all heady synth melodies, fuzzy bass and 808 cowbells), some out-there, beatless space calypso (the unwieldy 'We Don't Know"), and a mighty chunk of Syclops-ish wonk-jack ("80s Drugs"). Oh, and a moody, Detroit-influenced Fulton remix of 'Happy Sunday' that breaks into a space disco jam near the end.

Hippie Priest returns to Argot to release his second album, See It Through. Having made great strides at dialing in his production and strengthening his songwriting since the release of Gaia Variants in 2016, the young Champaign-based producer focuses his sophomore longplayer around a narrative approach. 'See It Through is a day in the life of a lioness", says Hippie Priest, 'Beginning with the soft ambience of waking up in the morning, leading up to an intense hunt in the middle, and into evening revelry and eventual slumber". The album's 11 tracks cover a large stretch of sonic ground to tell this story. Its glowing opener, 'Umbrella Keeper' gives way to widescreen stompers 'Thorn' and 'Quicksand' that clear the way for more contemplative moments like 'Crystal' or 'Cherry Blossom". One can't help but imagine a dramatic hunt while listening to 'Are You Okay' or carnivorous displays on 'Desire". Even tender scenes are possible with closers 'Tanuki' and 'Tired Lioness", gorgeous movements in which Hippie Priest's melodic profficiencies shine brightest. Riding high on the success of his EPOCH EP in February, John Monkman makes his debut on Crosstown Rebels with HARMONIX, a celebration of the Moog Voyager, whilst techno heavyweight Matrixxman supplies the remix.
A true master of his craft, Monkman has been creating music for over a decade and his passion and experience shine through his productions. HARMONIX was born after the UK producer and DJ limited himself to just one synth, resulting in 'interesting harmonics and a rawness that comes from syncing the oscillators, combined with an overload hack that gives the sound a little more juice'.
Sophisticated and formidable, HARMONIX 1 and HARMONIX 2 are orchestrated around the legendary Moog Voyager, with charged high hats that fracture the driving beat. US producer and DJ Matrixxman completes the EP with an imposing remix, verging on cinematic and brimming with atmosphere.
Continually building on his solid reputation, John Monkman has previously collaborated with Pete Tong, and released on labels including; Kompakt, Get Physical and Noir.

Raam is putting out records in a steady pace and has already reached Raam 006. On this EP Raam is diving deeper into the deep house universe and the production and sound quality is immaculate.
The EP opens with Titled, which is the perfect marriage between that warm deep bass-line, rolling percussion and fragile and wobbly chords.


With the tracks Const & Austre Raam digs even deeper into a raw and analog territory that he has been curating skillfully for quiet some time.
As always on the Raam imprint there is always and uptempo gem that fits perfectly into any peak hour set.This time in the shape of a remix delivered by Qnete (Lobster Theremin, 777 etc) He has redesigned the track Const into an acidic banger, that starts deep to end up in an frantic acidic peak, before returning back to the deep lushness.

BSS Records returns with the second in a series of VA compilations entitled 'Percussive Parameters'.
After successfully launching the series last year, showcasing both emerging and established artists and topping Juno's Vinyl Chart, this one's set to cause a stir. First up is Troy Gunner, an artist with a wealth of experience and a diverse arsenal of club focused records to his name. 'Pleading' shows Troy's deeper, more melodic side with atmospheric pads and vocals layered around an intelligent, driven percussive array.
As the track progresses, a hypnotic and compelling synth is introduced that draws the listener further in, cementing Troy's intuitive abilities in the studio.
Next up are head honchos Silas & Snare, who deliver a certified club weapon. 'Memories' starts unassuming, mesmerizing and innocuous, before launching the listener into a rolling, dubbed out cut destined to open and close sets across the world's sound systems. On the flip, we bring two exciting and emerging UK producers, Agrippa and Yak, both delivering their debut 12" offerings. Kicking things off is 'Ziplash', a drum workout that demonstrates Agrippa's ability to manipulate percussion and sub to the highest caliber, with thunderous claps and kicks weaved over intricate beats and samples.
Finally, and as the name suggests, 'Showdown' is a menacing cut of club weight destined for low ceilings and late nights, with a relentless sub and inimitable groove throughout!

Edmundy aka Patric Philipsson is as many of the Borft artists from Karlskrona (Sweden). Being active as dance-music producer since 2000 (crazy stuff back then...). As the years passed Edmundy got more skilled and experienced. In 2005 his first record was made on Suitable Records. It was a four track moody house vinyl.. His next record came eight years later in the late 2012. And now 2013 it's time for this Astropsychics minialbum. Cleaner than ever and 6 good moody dancetunes will sure make you move...

Following 'Conningham EP' Reach return with another uncompromising 12' from duo Thread. Dropping it's predecessors unashamedly raw bashfulness, ''Goldhawk EP'' is a subtler, deeper affair yet it still maintains its bass heavy, electro leaning edge. The first track ''Ellerslie'' sets the tone for the EP; a trip through the cosmos, with shimmering synth lines taking you on a journey through the galaxy. Subtle variations float effortlessly on the driving rhythm patterns, the bassline only a distant presence. The 2nd cut ''Sycamore'' is another journey into the deep, a slightly more housey affair; a motorik drum patterns carrying an eerie, deep atmosphere that is punctuated by melodic patterns appearing unexpectedly.
On the flip ''The Grove'' instantly works up a sweat - claps, dark synth riffs and a relentless drum pattern. Ferocious, in your face dance floor work out. Rounding-off the EP in style ''Goldhawk'' is the sparsest of the tracks on offer. Built on bare bones frame, there's melodic flourishes, subtle production trickery, galloping along a 2 step-ish percussion pattern. Thread further cementing their eclectic production style with this strong EP.
