We've been meaning to put out some music by our friend Harald ever since we started this wee operation five years ago. Imagine our joy now that we're ready to release not one, but two masterful records signed Mr. Björk! Fritids EP sees Harald bringing his top game to Studio Barnhus: starry-eyed pop melodies, dusty machine riddims and the Maestro's sweet trembling voice, all synched up (sort of) and ready to tell us stories of imperfect love, blossoming Nacka gardens and bicycle rides on wet gravel. Also on this record: Suzanne Kraft jammin' harmonic on the remix, Malin Gabriella Nordin straight up slaying it with the artwork. This 12'' EP is released synchronously with the vinyl exclusive 7'' single Strings Of Harald (BARN 037).

Tony Allen, drums; Max Loderbauer, synthesizers; Moritz von Oswald, percussion sequencing, synthesizers, additional electronics.
Mixed by Ricardo Villalobos.
Artwork by Marc Brandenburg.
The Moritz Von Oswald Trio opens a new chapter. There's a new configuration to the project, with Tony Allen joining original members Moritz von Oswald and Max Loderbauer. Allen, the legendary drummer who's amassed a formidable catalogue both as a solo artist and as part of Fela Kuti's band, has taken over percussion duties from Vladislav Delay.
Together, von Oswald, Loderbauer and Allen form something close to a dream team, two masters of the electronic sphere meeting an afrobeat pioneer. Allen had already established a rapport with the group before they entered the studio to record Sounding Lines—he's been touring with von Oswald and Loderbauer for more than a year, playing live shows around the world.
There has been an evolution on each new Moritz Von Oswald Trio record, and Sounding Lines is no different. The album, which was mixed by Ricardo Villalobos, maintains the project's trajectory—a fearless exploration of dub techno, classical music and jazz—but the prevailing mood feels looser and more organic than ever before. Allen's imperious percussive work sits tantalisingly in the mix. His drums meet the electronics of von Oswald and Loderbauer in a way that renders the project in new, vivid colours.
There are 4/4 tracks, beatless interludes and complex jazz structures, with propulsive recordings ("3") coexisting alongside more languid moments ("1"). Sometimes Allen provides flourishes of drums (notably on "4") while at other times spectral synths come to the fore (as on "5"). Von Oswald, a masterful composer and arranger with a deep understanding of space, paints the crevices of each composition on Sounding Lines with rich detail. Individually, von Oswald, Loderbauer and Allen are formidable and hugely influential musicians.
As a trio, they've conjured something remarkable.

Amphia celebrates its 10th release with a two-tracker EP from Cezar Lazar.
Both tracks reflect his signature sound, taking time to evolve into soundscapes that expand outside the familiar borders. The latin american influences embedded in "Choice Of Ancillaries" leave us hints of its vivid melody surfacing beneath its tight percussions. On the B side we find its darker counterpart, "Grounds And Shields", treating us with a more acoustic flow, sewn graciously around the incisive bassline.
The Balancing Act EP' adds a new layer to the ever expanding
catalogue of works under the Amphia imprint.

Poker Flat capture Mark Henning in a rich vein of form for this EP of deadly deep and intense tech house. For almost a decade, the Anglo-German, Berlin-based DJ has turned out consistent releases on an array of underground labels, but here his trademark combination of darkness, swing and technoid funk reaches new levels. 'Pusher' is a modern masterpiece: tough, crisp and fine-tuned for deployment on Stonehenge-sized speaker stacks, it's a tune that envelops you, the introduction of each individual element staggered for maximum effect. 'Somebody let me get my sh*t,' the repeated vocal declares: a request the tune responds to magnificently. The kinetic shuffle of 'Swingers' follows a similar trajectory, overwhelming the listener with its relentless energy. Through the simple yet spooky Hitchcockian device of a single repeated piano note 'Triple 13 hypnotises, a trippy snatch of processed vocal providing a hallucinatory edge, while 'Satin' explores dreamier territory with a reverberating New Age synth motif. All four tracks are masterclasses in restraint from a producer who can combine deceptively simple elements to make a resounding and inimitable emotional impact. Aptly named, this 12 is simply the only drug you'll need.

Everything comes in its own time: a wordly wisdom that Marcus Henriksson and Sebastian Mullaert aka Minilogue take for granted. Since their foundation in the year 1997 they emerged to one of the most respected and hard to pigeonhole electronic music acts world-wide. And that not only because in each of their artistic expressions you can feel their effortless passion for what they do - whether live or magnetized on a medium. Also because they do not stick to any stylistic niche to mark their territory. House, techno, ambient, trance, and lately jazz are equal parts in their creations. The most effective bunched proof for their musical universalism was marked in 2008 with the release of their debut album 'Animals"' on Cocoon. Since then a string of Ep's on labels like Mule, Wagon Repair, Traum Schallplatten, and their own imprint Minilogue continued their story in sound in which everything is made out of the present moment. Also the jazz infused album 'Bring Out The Imps' that they recorded under the alias IMPS with two jazz musicians and a heartfelt collaboration album with the Japanese producer Kuniyuki entered their discography. And between all their work they constantly performed their intense improvised live shows all around the globe. Privatly they formed themself a life far beyond the big city lights, out in the Swedish woods in the north of Malmö. Here they live a life where the inner gets the outer and where their way of creating is far away from Zeitgeist zones in which musical trends pass by like seasons. In the past five years they met every now and then when it felt like hooking up in the studio, jammed on their equipment without a clear goal in mind and recorded each unique moment that was guided by the experience of the single day of l

All bets are off with the third vinyl sampler from Thema's Strength In Numbers compilation, as the wide-reaching nature of the NYC label truly reveals itself with four varied and striking diversions into critical house music.
As a veteran of the hypnotic groove, UK producer Mr. G is never more at home than when he's twisting out a spiritually-charged jam like 'A Little Grainy One', riding on an insistent combination of looping, psychoactive samples and straight-talking drums. Also hailing from across the Atlantic, in his Raudive guise Oliver Ho takes a flamboyant approach on 'Carved' as he bounces chunky drum machine percussion around a kinked groove with a devilish line in leftfield synths and vocal snippets.
On the flipside, Cesare vs Disorder reveals a side that might not be familiar to those who have enjoyed his stripped-down releases for Serialism and Stock5 over the years, as 'All Night' throws down a boogie-infected neon-lit burner. Keeping the mood shifting, Thema's house duo Suburb draw on their strength in crafting sublime deep
house rich in melancholic melodies played by warm and soothing sound sources. 'Odyssey' follows on perfectly from their two previous EPs for the label, not to mention successful turns on Frank Music and Freerange.

Berlin based Mark Henning continues a series of self released 12's on his own imprint Swing Recordings. Next up is a re-issue of two of his most famous bassline-heavy tracks to date - Trojan and Sin City plus a new unreleased track.
Trojan sold out very quickly, was never repressed and can only be found on Discogs for silly money these days. Meanwhile Sin City, co-produced with Japanese Producer Tokuto Denda a.k.a Den, was never pressed on to vinyl in the first place.
Henning fans now have the chance to get these two tracks on wax as well as a bonus track Bang Bang, a Juno bass inspired slab of techno funk.

Just ahead of all the exciting 15 Years of Moon Harbour celebrations planned for later in the
year, Matthias Tanzmann's label continues to evolve with its next great EP. The man behind it is
none other than influential German DJ, writer, producer, label boss and record collector, DJ T.
The two excellent tracks he serves up mark his notable debut on this label, and the package is
completed with a great remix from Emanuel Satie.
DJ T., born Thomas Koch, has been active on the scene for twenty five years now. The German
started out in the mid '80s, and since then has held down various DJ residencies at clubs like
the now legendary Dorian Gray, founded the influential Groove Mag and Get Physical label and
is generally a rightfully respected pillar of the contemporary scene, and it's all thanks to his well
informed DJ sets, full lengths and hot 12's.
His excellent opener here, 'The Growing,' is an arresting bit of tech house with rattling
percussive patterns, a freeform bassline and spoken word vocal snippets that add some late
night mystery. It's robust and fulsome, and is sure to have dance floors locked in as one as
soon as it is dropped. On the flip, T. serves up 'Times We Had'. Another no nonsense and
rugged track, this one has a more nimble bassline that rides up and down next to cute synth
stabs. Overall the vibe is deep and groovy, the track is perfectly propelled by slick kick drums
and the production, along with more carefully treated vocals, really jumps out of the speakers.
Remixing this one is Get Physical live act and DJ Emanuel Satie, who's trips it back to a
spangled bassline, jittery vocal and jostling drum beat that really gets under your skin and
makes you want to move.
This is another landmark EP for both DJ T. and Moon Harbour, and one that couldn't have come
at a better time as Moon Harbour celebrates 15 years at the top of its game.

Releasing vinyl needs to be always special. One advantage of releasing in physical format is that you will keep that jewel your whole life. That´s what our friend DJ W!LD has done: give birth to a house gem.
All Night Long features three cuts of classic house sound approach. Both three original tracks show a brilliant use of samples, sometimes giving a special chilled atmosphere as in `All Night Long´ and `Heart Break´ where those dreamy chords melt with the sound of analog percussion. `Just In Time´ is a great lesson of jazzy groove which has been remixed to perfection by other master of the craft, dutch hero Steve Rachmad who delivers a ska influenced interpretation driven by a rising bassline.
We feel very proud to count with this ode to house in our catalogue.

It's been over a year since Gregor Tresher's last solo release on his beloved Break New Soil. Granted we've been treated to his remix of Chymera and the excellent collaboration with Petar Dundov, but for a fresh new solo production we have to look back to his epic Nightcolors album.
Today Gregor returns home with two slamming new tracks, both of which are the result of hours of tweaking and testing whilst on the road this summer. Midas is built around a stripped back single-riff groove. Minimal elements and maximum effect show that Gregor still has that midas touch.
On the flip and easily living up to its name is Disturber. its snarling synth takes centre stage, intimidating and unsettling. But as the kick drum thumps and the intensity builds, Disturber suddenly returns to the dark shadows.
An excellent brace of the new tracks from Gregor and a release that also sees a fresh face for Break New Soil as the label presents the first in a new series of cover art by Frankfurt's Think Design.

Dream Weapons' »Moonland« from his »Pathways EP« (Holger 3, 2014) has been a favorite of many. Accordingly, remix duties were given into the trustworthy hands of Barnt and Jens-Uwe Beyer - two of the co-founders of much acclaimed Cologne label Magazine. An expert in mixing and structuring, Barnt carves out the hidden capabilities of the original while Jens-Uwe Beyer takes a slightly more humorous but no less feet-moving approach to things. Weirdo techno in typical Magazine/Holger style.
Having recently played an eight hour set to a sold-out crowd at London's Oval Space, the prolific Dusky drop a trio of moody club tool tracks on 17 Steps as they continue their European Autumn/Winter tour.
A club tool in the most effective sense, lead track 'Lydia' is dark, nagging acid groover that builds and builds throughout its 6 hypnotic minutes. With all the melodic material based around the Lydian scale, 'Lydia' was originally inspired by a bizarre, trippy dream Alfie had in which everything was all based on the Lydian scale.
A homage to classic techno, 'Bitter Lake' is a hard-hitting surge of looping, percussive energy and Detroit-nodding rave stabs that build to a hoover-fuelled breakdown release.
Rounding off the trio, the brilliantly titled and uniquely composed 'Infinite Libido' again explores Dusky's more percussive tendencies and has been a regular feature in their DJ sets for the past year.

With previous releases on influential labels Hotflush, Aus and Hypercolour, George FitzGerald has joined a new home, signing to Domino offshoot Double Six. Kicking off his inauguration is new single 'I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)', a house cut which set the 7,000+ strong crowd at Ushuaia in Ibiza moving last week as he went back to back with Radio 1's Pete Tong, a relationship that kicked off earlier this year with George's Radio 1 Essential Mix. 'I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)' is available digitally through BeatPort now.
The video for 'I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)' follows a group of hedonistic teenagers roaming the streets of George's adopted hometown, Berlin, to the backdrop of George's infectious rhythms threaded throughout the track. Directed by Alex Southam, the man behind videos for Alt-J, Laura Mvula and Liane La Havas, you can watch the video HERE.
A remix package featuring mixes from Breach, responsible for the aptly titled summer club smash 'Jack', and a remix from Paul Woolford, will be available from the 30th of Sept. Further details to follow shortly.
George continues to play throughout the summer and has started work on his debut album due for release in 2014 through Double Six, where he joins such luminaries as Jon Hopkins and John Cale as part of the extended Domino family. Fitting company for a producer who is destined to be a career artist dedicated to perfecting his craft and raising the bar for his contemporaries.

Emerald City, the newest label venture from Jamie Jones and Lee Foss delivers a majestic second release with a new collaboration between Jamie Jones himself, DJ/composer Kate Simko & London Electronic Orchestra featuring the vocals of Jem Cooke.

Truesoul Records are proud to announce the release of 'Let Your Soul Outside', the debut album from Reset Robot in April 2014.
Behind the Reset Robot project is Dave Robertson, a producer who has released standout singles on labels like Dogmatik, Intacto and Adam Beyer's Truesoul imprint over the past 5 years. Now he steps up with his debut album, the stunning 'Let Your Soul Outside'.
The LP was written at Reset Robot's home studio in Portsmouth and is an album of fascinating textures inspired by "all the music I listen to and love!" says the producer himself. "I've wanted to do this for a long time and all of a sudden I had 8 or 9 tracks together which were a little bit different. I added a few more and asked a close friend, Tom Powell from Mister Woo, to add vocals to a couple of them and it was ready."
The result is a full length that touches on many different moods and emotions, starting with the melodically soothing tech funk of 'Guitar Man'. Tracks like 'Little Alice' then pick up the momentum thanks to slick beats and crisp percussion and 'Sizzler' introduces a soulful vocal element over more tortured sounding, synth-laden grooves.
It's not all full on dancefloor material though, with tracks like 'Desi Beats' it allows you a little time to breath thanks to their more widescreen and laidback vibe, whilst 'Sausage' strikes a truly emotive pose that has your thoughts turning inwards.
With this album Reset Robot proves both his range and his dexterity - no two tracks sound the same, and instead the Portsmouth producer explores every nook and cranny with a fine attention to detail that really makes the whole thing sing. 'Let Your Soul Outside' is a stellar achievement.

Hot Creations favourite Robert James makes his debut on VIVa with three original tracks and heavyweights Groove Armada are onboard to deliver 'Terrace' and 'Dub' remixes.
'Seagate' captures the energy of the sunshine with licking hi-hats, rolling grooves and unforgettable vocals. The feel-good 'House Invader' rides a swinging bassline and sharp kick, while Groove Armada's 'Terrace Mix' strips solid percussion into a dramatic synth affair, and a digital 'Dub Mix' is also on the agenda. On his third original production, Robert James delivers more sonic bassline action with 'Feel That Way'.
First surfacing amidst a new wave of talent on Lee Foss and Jamie Jones' Hot Creations, Robert James has gone on to DJ at hot-spots all over the globe as well as release on labels like Culprit, Saved, Silver Network and the legendary Strictly Rhythm. He also holds a highly honoured residency at Jamie Jones' Paradise at DC10.

The mighty Visionquest get set to release the highly anticipated 'Rain' from young shining star Subb-an. A monster of a release, the A-side features the haunting vocals of Visionquest favourites Footprintz, while the B-side welcomes a collaboration with Holland's Tom Trago featuring label co-founder and No.1 Seth Troxler on vocals. Released as a digital only, Subban's partner in crime Adam Shelton steps in for remix duty and rounds of what is undoubtedly set to be a special release for all involved.
Having spent the last few years paving out his distinctive driving style with huge releases on labels such as Crosstown Rebels, Culprit, Spectral Sound and his own One Records, it may come as a surprise that for the A-side of the release Subb-an steps into new territory to deliver a truly mesmerising slice of modern electronica on a closer tip to his recent remixes of Lana Del Ray and Jamie Woon. Written over a year ago and feeling that 'Rain' was a really special track, there was much deliberation over finding the perfect vocalist. With previous smash hit releases on the label and a debut album on the way, the idea of Footprintz materialised and everything simply fell into place. Captivating synths glide across a bed of dreamy deep chords and subtle percussive passages, while the signature sound of the haunting Footprintz vocals swirl through the deeper vortex. Keeping things tight within the family, label partner and best friend Adam Shelton delivers a stunning remix of 'Rain' to be released as a digital only.
On the flip the talented producer teams up with Rush Hour favourite Tom Trago to unleash the powerful 'Time'. The track was born through a bond that formed when Trago was asked to remix one of Subb-an's first big releases, 'What I Do' on Culprit LA. Becoming friends the pair soon found their way into the studio to master up a dance floor weapon that is highly sophisticated and intricate in production, building with tension and suspense as hypnotic waves are thrown into the equation. The thought provoking vocals spoken by Seth Troxler send the track into new dimension and with these three heavy weights involved; it's set to be a big one.
The past few years have seen a rapid rise to fame for the Birmingham bred Subb-an and with this monumental release and huge plans in place for the coming year including the 10 Years Of Crosstown World Tour and a debut artist album, there's no hiding the fact that Subb-an's stardom will continue to soar.

Patrice Bäumel occupies a highly distinctive and less-trodden niche in electronic music. He operates at the intersection of the emotive and the technical, his keen ear for melody and drama working in tandem with intricate sound design and experimental templates. While you could loosely label him as a 'techno' artist, his love of ambient, electronica and thereabouts are just as crucial to his musical identity as any sense of dancefloor machination might be.
A stalwart of the Amsterdam scene who held residencies at the legendary Club 11 and Trouw, he has proved himself to be a formidable producer with releases on Kompakt, !K7, Get Physical, My Favorite Robot and Systematic as well as his acclaimed debut album Vapour. He has time and again proven his skill in crafting intricate, often conceptual mixes, frequently weaving in unusual field recordings, found sound and speech samples to add a hypnotic layer of otherworldliness to the proceedings. Here he joins the illustrious Balance Presents cannon, joining the likes of Guy J, Kölsch, Fur Coat and jozif in the series of one-disc mix compilations and following recent double-disc releases from the Australian curators by Magda and Stacey Pullen.
Rather than blending one record into the next, I wanted to blur the lines between DJ set and production and turn it into a composition in its own right' he says of his approach to this stellar mix. But I wanted the result to be musical. I want the listener to totally forget about the nuts and bolts and just feel it. It was also really important to me to create something that is built to last, without any regard whatsoever for current trends.' He took the wise decision to largely opt for records from his collection that have stood the test of time already - that way I knew that I had a lasting relationship with them and not just a brief fling' - ensuring an end product that won't date any time soon.
I wanted the mix to sound truly like me, show off my trademark sound with all its quirks and idiosyncrasies. I had to really sit down and think about what defines my style. My conclusion was that it's a mixture of abstract, foreign sounds and super warm, trancey elements. All my music is a dance between these two polar opposites.'
The result is a mix that blends and contrasts the soaring melodies of M83 and ethereal magic of Nils Frahm with the guttural throb of Plastikman, and the glistening highs of Max Cooper with the dark lows of FKA Twigs. The mix also features exclusive new productions from Bäumel. His intense, brooding version of Underworld's Bird 1 - created especially for this project - provides a moment of high drama around the middle of the mix, while mesmeric outro track Departure is a beatless slice of epic crescendos, penetrating sub blasts and intense percussion that loses nothing from its absence of kicks.
The whole affair was painstakingly arranged using harmonic matching, automation, transposing looping, editing and was finally passed through an analogue mixer to engender a crisp, tight aesthetic. This was a pretty important phase. The difference between 95% and 100% is simply enormous. That, by the way, is something one should not underestimate with anything in life.' A truly cohesive and imaginative piece of work, Bäumel's Balance Presents compilation highlights his reputation as someone who approaches music in a truly holistic and psychological fashion.
I hope for the mix to contain enough intelligence and emotion to be a worthwhile listen under many circumstances. It's not all easy listening, some parts really have teeth. So by nature, the mix is not - and was never meant to be - for people with a low tolerance for music and sound that is outspoken. I didn't want to dumb it down. I think it's a great after-hour home party mix but I hope that it sparks people's imagination and creativity in all kinds of situations.'
