HouseDeepTech

Groove Armada are rooted in dance music's seminal movements. When the duo met in the mid-90s, little did they know that they'd become one of the planet's best-loved dance acts. However, throughout their two decades of global success, they've remained as comfortable in sweat-soaked basements as on big stages.'FABRICLIVE 87' represents the music that Groove Armada might drop in a club set, when the vibes of the dancefloor align perfectly with the music of the DJ.

Ld Nero - Let Your Body Speak
GPM335
Get Physical Music
12inch18.04.201618.APR.16

HouseTech

When an artist truly lets their music speak for them, there is no need for words. With his discography packed tight for the last 3 years and almost no information online, this seemed to be the case for LD NERO. So when he dropped 4 original tracks at our doorstep, we knew we had to pay attention. 'Let Your Body Speak' is LD NERO's EP debut on Get Physical, already appearing with his bombastic remix of Roland Leesker's 'My Warehouse' alongside Chris Liebing, Cardopusher, M.A.N.D.Y. and DJ T.. LD NERO's fresh and unique sound is abundant throughout the EP. First, the hyperactive 'Friction Addiction' gives us a good feel for what's to come, keeping it light while still delivering the steam (the digital version includes a FBK remix, definitely check that out as well). 'Gauge pressure', on the other hand, feeds a drip of deep bass bathed in bubbly percussion. 'Skip About' is a stripped down, straight-to-the-point kind of track, achieving a very diverse track. And finally, the title track growls along as the vocals guide our attention (you'll also find an instrumental version here). All in all, LD NERO has had no problem exploring new directions and serving up a brilliantly simple, effective, refreshingly unique sound. In fewer words, 'Let Your Body Speak' is bouncy, gritty tech-house to jump your late-night bones.

Mike Witcombe - Delomi Ep
KINDISCH094
Kindisch
12inch18.04.201618.APR.16

HouseTech

Mike Witcombe joins the Kindisch family, bringing along a delicate sound for a fantastic journey with his 'Delomi EP'. The title track charms both the body and the soul, with an elegantly simple track unleashing a sea of warmth with beautiful chord-work and a steady stream of organic percussion. Taking the torch further, 'Almond' dives a bit deeper, and travels a bit further, hypnotizing us into the night. Acid meets house meets after-hour meets pure and warm intentions to create an intricate and almost spiritual experience. Next, Mike Witcombe and Felix Warmuth balance chaos and control with 'Islagrande', representing the symbiosis between artist and machine; opening doors to realms rarely seen and inviting all to join the experience.

Johannes Brecht - What's About
POKERFLAT143
Poker Flat Recordings
12inch26.11.201326.NOV.13

HouseTech

Johannes Brecht prefers to ply his trade in the shadows - fitting for his oceandeep productions. The Stuttgart native marks his first outing on Steve Bug's inimitable Poker Flat Recordings with an exceptionally atmospheric EP sure to make it's mark with the deeper end of the DJ fraternity. 'What's About' bumps along with an irresistible groove, incorporating a sweet guitar lick and various backward synths before a sick bass line arrives to lift the track yet further into the ether. It's house music for music lovers, and sure to go over big with discerning dance floors. Likewise, the epic 11-minute 'You' develops with a sense of style and restraint often missing in the club, and revolves around beautifully realized synth pads over a crisp, punchy rhythm.

Project Pablo - Utensils
HYB016
Hybridity
12inch09.09.201409.SEP.14

HouseDeepTech

Following up his recent Basic EP for Vancouver-based Hybridity Music, Project Pablo's latest offering will be released on August 5, 2014. Three raw heavily swung funky playful house 'Utensils' is aimed straight at the dance-floor...Over top of dark gritty rolling grooves, Pablo layers frenetic vocal snippets, cheeky jazzy chord stabs, and warm resonant synth melodies. The release is 'tape saturated, swung-out house music; hints of the old and new.' Project Pablo is the latest moniker of Patrick Holland (formerly 8prn). Over the last couple of years the young producer has been making some waves within the West Coast underground electronic scene, producing a slew of remixes, and curating mixes for i-D Magazine, Do Androids Dance, and the Slowcast. He also runs the label, ASL Singles Club in collaboration with Heartbeat(s) and Chef. The label was recently featured on thump and xlr8r. Project Pablo's own production is diverse, moving between a more experimental/ambient sound to classic Chicago House. He recently played SXSW in collaboration with installation artist Charles Long, and will playing a number of festivals throughout the summer; Sled Island, Bass Coast and Shambhala.

Tom Middleton - Penrose Steps
OVM226
Ovum
12inch16.10.201216.OCT.12

HouseMinimalTechTechno

As we head into fall Ovum Recordings keep the hits coming. Having bathed in the deepness of Nico Lahs we were then moved to get sweaty and get down with Technasia's 'Bastille Days.' Today we come with yet more freshness with the diverse new ep from the legendary Mr Tom Middleton. Tom is a true electronic luminary. From his partnership with Mark Pritchard as Reload, Global Communication, Jedi Knights and Secret Ingredients to his own solo work, Tom has always pushed the boundries of dance music whether it be ambient, techno, electro, funk, and house. A true master of his game, we are honored to welcome him as the newest member of the Ovum family. This new release initially came together off the back of the A side track 'Penrose Steps". Tom gave the track to Josh and it instantly became one of the biggest tracks in his sets, never leaving his bag. In true Ovum style, we were keen to bag a B Side with a completely different feel. We went back and forth for quite some time and as Tom set about working on a production we all lost a very dear friend and colleague, Kenny Hawkes. The aptly named 'Hawkes Groove' is an amazing ode to a truly talented producer and DJ and we are so happy to be bringing it to you.

Greenville Massive - Rewind Ep
RCM002
Rhythm Cult
12inch17.09.201417.SEP.14

HouseDeepElectronicaTech

Exceptional taste and sound is an ideal that Rhythm Cult embodies and is at the core of the label's mission. With its first release bringing an eclectic group of electronic tracks, the second release raises the standard even higher. This time Danish duo Jesper Larsen and Simon Knøsgaard aka Greenville Massive, drop three original works of high standard house sounds. Known for their signature style, sitting between deep and tech house, the two tend to rely heavily on a melancholic vibe in their work. The Rewind EP is just that, a flawless ode to their carefully honed sound through years of exploration. A cosmic ride of relaxed and charismatic electronic music, Rhythm Cult's second number is mature and oozes delightful soundscapes.

With work already on labels like Initials, Tenth Circle and the success of their 'Autumn' single for the legendary Defected In The House', we hear the next chapter of their artistic vision inside the studio. Rewind begins that journey, as serene vocals and simplicity make this one bright for the ears. Featuring the stunning vocals of Michelle Bee, Rewind is one to be heard across all sunset parties and early club sets. A simple melody is punched out on soothing keys as jazzy percussion lays a think layer of warmth and class to the arrange. A little more on the tech side of the fence with a bouncy beat and of course melodic frequencies at every turn, Mind combines tasteful sampling with a refreshingly smooth atmosphere.

The final track of the EP, Better, is a full plunge into Greenville's signature style. Harmonic strings add depth and drama to the fluttering notes and percussion patterns. One track to truly get lost in, its mood soaks the listener into utter deep bliss. Utilizing the core sounds of the track to their fullest, the simplicity in design almost makes Better that much better. Nurturing new talent and brining works of art to its fullest potential is that of Rhythm Cult's mission. Diversity and the ability to foster an identified pattern of upfront electronic sounds, the label makes a big mark with its second release. As Greenville Massive prepare to head back to Berlin and begin their studio work once more, Rhtyhm Cult scours the globe to find the next beacon of talent in this big rhythm cult we call life.

Hnny - Tears Ep
LT041
Local Talk
12inch16.12.201316.DEC.13

HouseDeepChicagoTechDetroit

HNNY strikes again with his second 12' on Local Talk this year.

The lead track Tears puts HNNY back in peaktime territory and as with previous tracks Yearning and For The Very First Tim, HNNY shows you do not need many ingredients to serve classic house flavours, just the right amount of grit and a irresistible vocal.

First out on the b-side is Gymnastics, a blistering disco number or as Tooli described it 'a 100% string-stomper.'
Ending this 12' is No Tears, a dub version with all the key details from Tears but also goes deeper and with more added efx.
An absolute guarantee to jack your body.

Flabbergast - No 1
CCS097
Circus Company
12inch09.11.201509.NOV.15

HouseMinimalElectronicaTechTechno

Following the playful tones of Feathered Sun and Carlos Nilmmns, Circus Company continues its run of distinctive singles with a four-track release from new production entity Flabbergast. While the name might not be familiar, the imagination-soaked minds behind the music are synonymous with the history of Circus Company. Guillaume Coutu-Dumont is of course one of our most treasured sons, a Montreal-man turned Berlinboy with no less than two albums and seven EPs scattered amongst our back catalogue, let alone his achievements elsewhere. He first came to light on the Mutek and Musique Risquee labels, both of which have had the guiding hand of Vincent Lemieux at the controls, and now the two long-time friends have joined forces in the studio to conjure up some heavy grooving voodoo that feeds directly from their respective experiences in the freakier ends of the house and techno spectrum. On all four tracks, there is a concurrent theme that binds together this new sound world of Flabbergast. The production hits raw and direct, with dead-eye rhythms providing a functional structure around which surreal sonic decoration can frolic. 'Frozen Beans' has a twitchy lead and all manner of displaced vocal snippets drifting around the sparse mix, but there is still space for the warmth of a Rhodes to sneak in before things get too unnerving. 'Gros Sabots' meanwhile has fun with some roughly hewn drum breaks, before 'Wash Karma' gets into a spooked-out, exotic incantation of minimal techno with an emphasis on cheeky funk of the highest order. With its delicate elements, flairs of percussion and deadly bassline, this is the kind of track to sneak up on the unsuspecting and shake their hips with inappropriate intent before they know what's hit them.

Kurt Baggaley - Winterland Ep
CH012
Chapter 24 Records
excl10.02.201610.FEB.16

HouseDeepElectroClubElectronicaTechno

incl. download code!

As the waning of the final winter moon comes to an end, Chapter 24 enters the world of wax with its first 12-inch release. For this next story in sound, we welcome back Kurt Baggaley, whose wonderful 'Winterland' also receives the attentions of Patlac and Petar Dundov with two immaculate Editions.

The EP has been in the hands of a chosen few since the summer, and has already been played by Âme, Solomun and H.O.S.H. at some of the world's biggest festivals. To be released on vinyl only, this package is one not to be missed.

An artist who lives and breathes electronic music culture, Kurt Baggaley has evolved his productions into a unique and personal sound since his early days as the Electro artist Scape One. Taking in influences from early 80's Chicago House, Detroit Techno and New York Club, with a fusion of Italo Disco, Euro Synth and Electro, his huge Former Self EP on SoHaSo in Spring 2015 was met with widespread acclaim on both digital and physical formats. Supported by the likes of Michael Mayer and Dixon, it was followed up with his debut release on Chapter 24 a few months later, opening the book with his Spiral EP.

Winterland continues this momentum. The title track blows in a cold, enveloping wind of analogue synths and drum machines, swirling around a central arpeggio. Disco, minimal and electro influences are clearly to be heard in what amounts to a unique and compelling piece of electronic music.

Patlac takes the reins for the first Edition. With original releases on liebe*detail and Soulfooled and remixes for Pets Recordings, Noir and Musik Gewinnt Freunde, his music possesses an empathy for time, people and place. Retaining some of the disco influence of the original, this sensitive and thoughtful approach results in an energetic Edition driven by pushing rhythms and deep, powerful grooves, but also with a refined sense of harmony and melody.

The final Edition on the package is a fitting one, from Croatian maestro Petar Dundov, who occupies the flip side. Dundov makes intelligent electronic music that breaks boundaries. His breathtaking take on the original embodies this ethos, hitting home with body twisting beats while also challenging the mind with complex melodies and slow-burning, hypnotic progressions. In his masterful hands, the track takes on life of its own, forever evolving and expanding and increasing in intensity.

With the Winterland EP, Chapter 24 turns the page on its first volume of releases, closing the Aesop's Fables artwork series with a stunning linocut portrayal of 'The Wolf and the Crane' from in-house artist Simon Vaeth. The lessons from Aesop will make way for those of the Tarot, as the Book of Changes continues to shine a light on the wintry path ahead.

Each purchase includes free digital download once shipped. Please email proof of purchase to label (at) chapter24records (dot) com

Various - Incolor
TRCKV01
Trick Track Records
12inch07.12.201507.DEC.15

HouseMinimalTechLimitedTechnoAcid

Only 150 Wordwide
Incolor is a collage of distinctive sounds, purposed to disturb the listener's reality, smearing paradoxical stances throughout the entire record. TRCKV01 approach differs from normality. The beginning of each side taints mystery and a relaxed state while the following smears vigor to the record. On the A-side, Greorogythme casts minimalistic glitches onto the cosmic Watch The Stars Falling, while Scopter & iON bring an excess of drums and dub, enfolding in a persisting voice that forms Muntele De La Mare. On the B-side, Key Clef builds an ever-growing tension on disrupted tempos, over persisting wobbles, all which finalize in Keep The Deep. Finally, Dual Shaman lash out on the closing track, with a hard to digest overload of kicks, drums all wrapped in a hard to digest CroMagnon. The record is as complex in sound as colors on a canvas painting, going in depth, exploring unheard mixtures and combinations. Heard entirely, it paints a perfect colored picture.

BORUSSIA is our neighbor but don't think we're releasing his record for this reason! He is passionate about video games, horror movies and romantic comedies, which might be one of the reasons why he gives us such an explosive cocktail. This record is raw, mad and dirty like a good old Dance Mania. But no need much to say, just try it on a dancefloor you'll enjoy it!

Chez-n Trent - The Kms Remixes Vol. 2

12inch01.06.201501.JUN.15

HouseDeepChicagoTech

Kevin Saunderson's Detroit-based imprint celebrated its 25th Anniversary back in 2012, and the label's continued to cement its legacy with key vinyl reissues over the past couple of years. The recent campaign included Saunderson's Just Want Another Chance, the track which contains the "Reese" bassline—rivaled only by the Amen break as a formative element of drum & bass—as well as '90s releases from MK, Kreem (Saunderson's duo with Juan Atkins) and Chez (Damier) N (Ron) Trent.

The two remix compilations dwell on Chez N Trent versions produced during the 1993 through 1995 period, when they released enduring originals like "Morning Factory" and "The Choice." Volume One contains remixes of Sonya Blade and Miller/Scott Project while the second EP includes Damier and Trent's versions of Kreem as well as Saunderson's seminal vocal house group, Inner City. Chez N Trent's takes on Naomi Daniel's "Feel The Fire" and Essar'ay's "Forces" are also included.

Der Dritte Raum - Electric Friends
DDR014CD
Der Dritte Raum
CD20.09.201620.SEP.16

HouseTech

2016. Twentyfive years after Der Dritte Raum's first release on Sven Väth's Harthouse and Eye Q label, Andreas Krüger aka Der Dritte Raum locked in his studio again to create Electric Friends, an album ostensibly meant to make up for his previous album Aydszieyalaidnem and it marks a shift to a more pop direction. Though Krüger is lumped in with all other electronic music producers, on Electric Friends, his approach is to create a meeting place for techno rhythms and sonic experimentation from the perspective of the dancefloor, and a song-friendly one at that. Befitting the club setting, the tracks are long (twelve on CD and seven on double vinyl ), but they're crammed with interesting stuff. This album is not a clinical exercise in the textural possibilities inherent in static, Der Dritte Raum is tracking pop hooks and disco beats, and he even throws a couple of trance influenced tunes into the mix of the album. The first - and title track on this excellent album is called 'Electric Friends', a brilliant tune that highlights a smart way for listeners to approach the record. It showcases an extremely catchy lead synthesizer melody, underpinned by a sharp electronic backing. The track is suitably catchy without ever approaching raucousness. Electric Friends' reflects the wide range of Krüger's musical interests, and there are some homages. Command Line' has the odd distinction of being an Front 242 influenced track (in terms of beats and synths). 'Wasserstoff' is laid-back, starting with house-chord sounds, before getting all running noisy.Uptempo, danceable instrumental techno dominates the album, but the detours are frequent enough to make Electric Friends' works as a varied, complete document with feel-good body music. So why is it called 'Electric Friends' Well. Krüger apparently named it so because he thought that all friends who are involved in the D3R production like live co/pilot Ralf Uhrlandt, Booker, Management and Graphic designer as well

Dinamo Azari - Estranged
VF181
Vinyl factory
12inch18.04.201618.APR.16

HouseDeepTechTechnoTechno

The crossover success of Dinamo Azari's previous band's raucous, hedonistic, revitalization of classic house - with hits such as 'Reckless (With Your Love)' and 'Hungry For The Power' - brought game-changing concerts all over the world. After such extensive touring the solo Azari returns to Toronto for rejuvenation and inspiration on his solo debut.' Toronto has a thriving, young scene and it was imperative I stay close to it,' Dinamo enthuses. 'The feeling is underground, rebellious, late night warehouse and loft events. I'm staying close to my roots and the results are on the record.' Speaking to all cultures through tones and vocal harmonies, the music throughout 'Estranged' maintains the retro-tinted bubbliness of Azari's past but also heads somewhere grittier, tougher and much further into the nightworld - from analog machine-based 4/4 to the raw, minimal, darker sides of disco and house. New voices include James Ken Bailey, who appears on the title track 'Estranged', 'Santo (Fear & Desire)' and 'Break Me'. His soulful, emotive vocals match the lush, minimal production of the album's title track and create a sweet contrast to the stark, jackin' house of 'Break Me'. Another discovery is Ahmad Larnes, from Queens, New York via Berlin, appearing on the Balearic houser 'Edge of Control' and album opener 'Witchwood'.
Fritz Helder, is one of Dinamo's oldest friends, and crops up solo on the pared back and funky 'Drexl', replete with its 'Black don't crack' refrain and provocative lyrics. Other guests include Nick Fiorucci who collaborates on 'Haçienda', a reinterpretation of his own 1989 rave classic, the piano line of which was the basis for so many early '90s hardcore classics (Slipmatt & Lime, Altern-8, Carl Cox, etc).

Röyksopp / Audion - I Had This Thing / Dem Howl (joris Voorn Remixes)

12inch28.05.201528.MAY.15

HouseDeepTech

Jamie Irrepressible's lullaby-infused whispering voice sits a top the Dutch producers signature rhythmic framework, arguably redefining the current dance floor aimed remix approach in favor of layered emotion where Joris's textured synths and acoustic subtleties are as soft and supple as they are comforting.

With over two decades worth of live performances and an ever-increasing discography to his name reaching from atmospheric interludes to broken beats, Voorn continues to have little boundary in his melodic explorations. With a sound both identifiable and individual, the past decade has seen countless re-edits anonymously sneaking around the Internet for months and sometimes years on end and as we edge further into 2015 Norwegian electronic music duo Röyksopp's poignant single goes under the remix knife.

Voorn clearly has a wide range of instrumental talent at his disposal; the genius of creating music that's by turn as adventurous and as sweetly accessible as a pop song.

Though Joris's remix techniques as demonstrated with 'I Had This Thing' taken from the Norwegian outfits latest album 'The Inevitable End' soothing in timbre and placid in pace, his production efforts and unique results continue to impress and position him brightly amongst the identities of electronic music innovators as a key talent.
