Seven Davis Jr - Beautiful Friends Remixes
CMC152RMX
Classic Music Company
12inch24.08.201524.AUG.15

HouseDeepTechTechnoTechno

Sometimes you wait and things fall into place, this is an A&R man's dream. You can spend hours banging your head, waiting for lightening to strike, trying to find the perfect pairing, it's there floating around in your head but the answer is not clear. The record needs a remix, but who would be perfect

Not being one for doing things by numbers, sometimes you have to leave the music for a moment. Give it a life of its own and allow the musical landscape to adapt to it. I had been mulling over remixes for Seven for quite some time. We had the Krystal Klear mix which was perfect, that happened early on, I just needed something to compliment it and round of the remix single.

Detroit Swindle are notorious for being very selective, but armed with Classic as my calling card I got ready to approach them. Low and behold, possibly within a day or two of formalising my approach in my head, they emailed me and asked if they could remix the record. The stars aligned and it all made sense. These two remixes complement each other perfectly, and this feels like a complete single coming from the heart, remixed with love.

Various - Dance Mania: Ghetto Madness
STRUT120LP / 100011
STRUT
12inch21.01.201521.JAN.15

HouseDeepTechDetroitTechnoTechno

Strut return to the archives of seminal Chicago house label Dance Mania in January 2015 for 'Dance Mania: Ghetto Madness'. The follow-up to Strut's acclaimed Dance Mania label retrospective 'Hardcore Traxx' from early 2014, this new instalment places the spotlight on the raw, stripped back, hyper bpms of ghetto house and the rise of the movement's fresh generation of stars during the mid'90s including DJ Deeon, DJ Funk, Jammin' Gerald and DJ Milton.

The album tells the story of the evolution of Chicago's sound during the era as mix tapes circulated through local stores and DJs developed their own underground following, playing local parties in the projects. Crowds began responding to faster bpms and gangsta rap-inspired X-rated lyrics. As DJ Deeon remembers, 'it bridged the gap. It made it OK for guys in the ghetto to like house again and it brought the women onto the dancefloor too.' Dance Mania was perfectly positioned to capitalise on the new sound - many of the DJs came regularly into Ray Barney's record store and, as Chicago's most trusted and respected label owner, he was offered the best tracks for commercial release at an early stage.

'Ghetto Madness' brings together some of the underground classics and enduring favourites that earned Dance Mania the title of 'Ghetto House's Motown'. Tracks include DJ Deeon's party-starter 'The Freaks', raw DJ Funk cut 'Computer Sex' and Nina Kraviz favourite, Paul Johnson's 'Give Me Ecstacy'. Other featured gems from the archive include the dark early Steve Poindexter outing 'Computer Madness' and Tyree's in-demand jam, 'Nuthin' Wrong'.

'Dance Mania: Ghetto Madness' will be released in 1CD unmixed, 2LP and digital formats. Physical formats are fully illustrated in raw ghetto style by James Wilson and also feature CD a fold-out poster featuring an exclusive James Wilson illustration featuring the Dance Mania DJs as tattoos!

Ali Love - Perfect Picture
CRM135
Crosstown Rebels
12inch17.11.201417.NOV.14

HouseDeepElectronicaTech

INCL. SKREAM, LUCA CAZAL & DUBKA, ROUTE 94 REMIXES

Frontman, songwriter, musician and straight up entertainer, the inimitable Ali Love has many sides. Aboard a non-stop thrill ride as part of Infinity Ink and Hot Natured throughout 2012/2013, the dust was only beginning to settle when Ali Love dropped his third solo album 'P.U.M.P.' on Crosstown Rebels at the height of summer. Described by Mixmag as 'his best work to date' P.U.M.P is the pinnacle of Ali's life long journey through broad spectrum of music styles. An album that conveys the building blocks for one of the most distinctive voices in UK dance music, Ali's refusal to stay in his box has produced a piece of work that's the perfect antidote for modern day 'track' culture. 'P.U.M.P.' spans psychedelic house, cosmic disco and soulful downtempo all with the common thread of Ali's golden vocals. One of the standout tracks from this cult summer album is next single 'Perfect Picture', an uplifting flash back to rave swagger with flashes of old school breaks. Original dubstepper Skream, crossover star Route 94 and close collaborator Luca Cazal alongside Dubka all offer up their distinct interpretations to the psychedelic mixing pot.

Skream's epic rework of 'Perfect Picture' is a spiralling bass driven strings spectacular taking Ali's voice to a haunting level. Having been a pioneer in the Croydon dubstep scene and now a BBC Radio host and tastemaker, the unstoppable Ollie 'Skream' Jones brings his unbridled energy to this emotive raw driving house cut to cinematic effect. Luca Cazal is one quarter of the formidable Hot Natured and one half of Infinity Ink with Ali Love. With a long-running relationship with Ali in both life and music and a solo alias on the rise, Luca was a natural choice of remixer. Here with ex Cazals band mate Dubka, 'Perfect Picture' is given a stripped back techy framework with warping synth patterns for a late night trip. Getting named one of Rinse FM's artists to watch in 2014, Route 94's rise to prominence has been rapid. Championed by BBC radio tastemakers, appearing at festivals worldwide and producing a track for Katy B's latest album as well as vocal anthem feat. My Love feat Jess Glynne' (both via Rinse), Route 94's twist on 'Perfect Picture' is another bona fide bomb with a killer build up, heavy low-end and bleep filled hypnotic groove.

Ali Love's last seven releases, whether with Hot Natured, Infinity Ink or as solo artist, were all Radio One Essential New Tunes. Third solo album P.U.M.P was produced and co-written alongside Steve Dub (Chemical Brothers / Primal Scream) and Mark Ralph (Hot Natured / Hot Chip) and gained accolades across the board from tastemakers and media alike, a tour de force of 'sumptuous summer sounds' (DJ Mag) and 'willfully weird' and 'rarely less than entertaining' (Resident Advisor). Ali will be taking the album live on tour in the not too distant future.

PHAT TRAKTOR aka Jose Vinilo (Dj, Producer& remixer)
Captured at the tender age of 14 by the movement of the 90s, Phat Traktor, aka Jose Vinilo, remains dedicated to his passion, Stockholm style, to the music that took him at so tender an age. At fifteen, Phat Traktor began experimenting with music production and the technologies to which he now confesses he is addicted. Like any junkie he has a singular objective; to pursue his addiction, decimating boundaries and developing a unique style, a journey which has taken him through derivations from House, fused with sounds from Deep to Techno, progressing to a bolder sound; Technohouse. His explosive sessions entertain crowds who, enraptured by his contagious energy, collude with him through the voyage of his irreverent, and endlessly unpredictable sets, in an atmosphere that explodes the air like a night in downtown Bhagdad. Beyond his much famed non stop twelve hour sessions with the collective Soundmode, along with seven other djs from Barcelona, Phat Traktor can boast shared line ups with John Digweed, Marco Carolla, Joris Voorn and James Zabielia, his productions have been recognized by artists such as Ben Manson, Mike Ivi, Bogdan Taran,Raul Blanco, dj Jobani, The Flash Brothers, Deka, Christian Cambas, Peter McGill, Maxi Iborquiza.

Matthias Tanzmann - Tilt
MHR065-6
Moon Harbour
excl29.08.201329.AUG.13

HouseTechTechnoTechno

Despite a predictably hectic summer schedule, Moon Harbour boss Matthias Tanzmann returns to his own label with a suitably brilliant new EP, Tilt, complete with a remix from US bad boy Kris Wadsworth. It's his first release since mixing it up for fabric 65 last year, but boy has it been worth the wait and as such will also be pressed onto vinyl. The title track Tilt goes first and exhibits Tanzmann's unique skill for cooking up a nice loose brew of silvery hi hats and dumpy kick drums that is constantly evolving and revolving. Frazzled chord stabs add some nice texture to the clicky, clappy and infectious loops elsewhere and a moaning voice adds that all-important human touch. Just wait until you hear this one at DC 10. The Extra Ball mix of the same track is a bit more bold and direct, with plenty of height in the kick drums and drive in the hi hat ringlets that surf up top. The rubbery basslines prop up the whole thing and interact so closely with the stabs your attention is never allowed to wane. ...There's a reason Matthias Tanzmann enjoys the high profile and revered position he does in today's house and techno scene, and this evidence is further proof of that once again.

Me & Her - Ginseng Ep
OFF098
Off Recordings
excl07.11.201407.NOV.14

HouseDeepTech

We were long craving a little female touch here at OFF headquarters and we have luckily found exactly the right dose of girl-powered funk to amaze our fans all over the
globe. ME & her are two musical soul-sisters bridging different cultures and talents.
Jen & Phuong have a great background of influences and are rapidly making waves in the house music world.
"Ginseng" could easily be a single, featuring the magic vocal work of Thomas Gandey it creates an hypnotizing vibe with crazy synths and fxs over a funk infused bassline and a killer groove, Adding to our neverending list of all-star remixers, we
brought in Mendo, from Cadenza, Defected, Suara and 8-Bit fame, a big name when it comes to mindblowing reworks, fact that he proves turning the track into a peak
hour techy irresistible monster crafting the original elements with perfection.
The second rework for "Ginseng" comes in the hands of Stevie R and Ian Mackenzie who bring the pace down into a deeper landscaped version with plenty of leading
synths and atmospheric value.
"Oyster" is another dancefloor stormer, with a rolling tech house beat and infectious synth bass licks. Once again Me & her show their love for fx atmospherics taking
the track to a different level of mind tripping to close this amazing package with "Euphorbia", showcasing a fat bassline that rolls steadily into a moving chord pad.
This girls are here to stay and clearly to create the best musical tools to mess with your mind, just how we like it. Glad to have them on board!

Radiq - Rhapsody 2x12"
PNR006
Pluie/Noir Recordings
2x12inch08.01.201608.JAN.16

HouseMinimalTechVinyl Only

Japan: the land of the rising sun and one of the worlds biggest havens for creative,
forward-thinking musical freedom. Masters of a infinite number of stripped down, funk
infused brands of electronic music, the japanese crews of music makers are usually teams
of noble perfectionists.
Consistently shining a bright guiding light on the japanese scene, Radiq (aka Yoshihiro
Hanno) remains one of Japans best exports and the reflection of what it means to be a true
musician while managing his own japan-talent-only imprint Op.Disc with wit and will.
Rhapsody' adds to the chameleon's release catalog a 4-tracker of deep musicality, expansive
4x4 examinations and textured realms that ebb and flow between dance-focused sonatas and the
kaleidoscopic intimate travels, and ultimately begging a listen all the way through. The title
track 'Rhapsody' (A) is Yoshihiro's signature exploration of humanized rhyrhms, crisp claps
and deep low-ends that ebb and flow with a very peculiar organic steadiness. Circulatory
Breathes' (B) uses micro-house patterns as starting point to build something more intricate
where robotic movements remain constantly intertwined with amoebic perc-samples, vocal
snippets, groove swings and jazzy synths. Clocking at 14 minutes, the dreamy and deeply
absorbing Antigone' (C) is the EP's longest work, and a true hypnotic anthem that works
like a musical vortex. Radiq's artistic indulgence culminates with Sad Strings' (D), the
EP's jazziest exploration around heavy drum programming and dramatic mood shifts.
The double EP was visually interpreted by Max Binski in a heavily textured acrylic painting,
giving this release the visual perk Pluie/Noir collectors grew accustomed to. Limited Pressings.

Adam Beyer - You're The Same
TRUE1253
True
12inch18.12.201418.DEC.14

HouseTech

Adam Beyer has been showing us the extent of his versatility for years and this EP solidly cements the idea that Beyer can confidently swing between genres and keep up his consistently high standards within electronic music. 'You're The Same' is a remarkable piece of work and keeps the tech house bods moving and shaking. All the tracks on this three-part stunner are chunky, solid grooves, that are infused with dashes of techno, house and dub. Vocal snippets are used to create some spine tingling hooks as well as moody pads to create eerie atmospheres. 'Valium & LFO's' has already built up quite a following courtesy of its inclusion in Beyer's landmark Amnesia Terrace set for Cocoon that was later broadcast as part of his Drumcode Live radio show. It has also been a mainstay in Richie Hawtin's sets along with other accomplished DJ's including the likes of Joseph Capriati. A well accomplished single from the Swede.

Cosmin Trg - Gordian LP 2x12"
50WEAPONLP13
50 Weapons
2x12inch24.04.201324.APR.13

HouseDeepElectronicaTechTechnoTechno

Two years after his debut full length on the label,
The new album marks something of a new direction for
Cosmin, however - it's a much more intricate affair that deals
in plenty of fuzzy texture, percussive energy and his
trademark skimming bottom ends, but looks outside the
techno world for its influences. "Gordian is as much a
document of my past year as it is the beginning of a
conversation. The title references an ancient myth, but
describes the very contemporary, impossible task of
discerning between real and replicated, authentic and
contrived. Coping with facts, objects and bodies, the
necessity of 'making it', fear of failure, fear of 'not being
happy' are today's topics, and Gordian is my attempt at an
exploration of those issues."
Starting with the deep, alien laced ambience of 'New
Structures For Living' its clear from the off Cosmin's
production has continued to improve and evolve since
Simulat. Abstract yet heartfelt, it's followed by the more
implosive snare rattles and crossing synth lines of the title
track 'Gordian' that sounds like a factory gone feral.
Opposing light with dark, density with space, tracks like
'Desire is Sovereign' manages to be both propulsive and
cerebral. One thing that ties the album to Cosmin's nuanced
back catalogue is the gauziness of tracks like 'Divided By
Design' where the distant hum of radio frequencies turn your thoughts
to Cold War era transmissions lost in blizzards of
snow.
Though the heads down surges of tracks like 'Semi Present'
sure will work on the floor, there's an underlying narrative that
makes this album as suitable for listening on headphones.
Non-standard melodies, otherworldly blips and a ruined
intergalactic energy seem to course throughout, truly transporting you
to another world entirely.

12inch02.09.201502.SEP.15

HouseTechTechnoElectroTechno

Our newcomer Gajek is being remixed by two of electronics finest: ALVA NOTO and PLAID. Need we say more We are extremely honored to release this fantastic work on Monkeytown, not only because we are big fans of the artists but also because both remixes prove real heavyweights on their own. The tracks work very different angles: Carsten Nicolai's Alva Noto project turns the playful "Restless Water Shapes" into a stonecold dark bassline roller. You are welcomed into the sonorous temple of solemn and serious dancefloor business with a pumping kick and resonating reverb deemed to drain you of all your adrenaline. On the flip Plaid bring up your oxytocin levels with bristling euphoric electronica letting a bright light shine into every corner of your mouth.
Guaranteed to make you smile, this package feels like an extremely fulfilling hypermodern clubnight compressed into just 2 tracks.

The American techno Producer D'Marc Cantu who has previously released on Spectral Sound and Ghostly as part of the duo 2AM/FM. Infuse ( Mariano Mateljan, Alci, Ferro, Steve Abot) - Infuse 003
INFUSE003
Infuse
12inch09.12.201309.DEC.13

HouseTechTechnoDub

You've got to love a label sampler where the artist field says "various".
It simply means you're not going to get any padding. You won't find any pointless stuff on your plate, just a collection of A-Sides from different producers and in this case, the four servings of meat on this one dish are of particularly high, organic value.
The first thoroughbred track, I understand, was raised on a free-range farm somewhere in the Croatian lowlands by sexy DJ/farmer Mariano Mateljan.
The aptly named Pigeon Boxer is a real sultry little groover, a simple but chunky beat just jacks along, nice and confidently. Drop bits in, take bits out, the rhythm will do the rest.
A very, very good bit of real deep house. So we're off to a bloody good start down at Infuse's inner city groove farm; which, by the way, is a sub label of Fuse, one of London's top club nights.
Lets just put a bolt gun straight through the face of this weird farm/food metaphor thing going on because, as I'm sure you'll agree, it's getting fucking tiresome.
Anyhoo (anymoo), next up comes Swiss producer Alci who provides another fine example of minimal house with Justice. With hypnotic synths that echo about on the far horizon, they're met head-on by a huge round bassline.
When the drums join in, in full, that same kind of laid-back but very danceable vibe comes through again, it's impossible to not bop your head along, at least.
Uh-oh, here comes Dutch weirdy Ferro with his track Semmer. Gone are the straight 4x4 beats of previous, we're welcomed by a sordid little piece of off-kilter, fucked up minimal.
At nine minutes long, Semmer is quite a piece of work and if you could find the right kind of dancefloor I'm sure it would drive them insane, if they weren't a little already.
Last comes the crackling, low-down vibes of Ghent badman Steve Abot who gives us the very cinematic, moody sounds of Sovereign.
Though only on their third release, with tracks like these, infuse are making their sound known very quickly. Quite possibly the new home of deep and moody bass-filled house in London.
MOOOOOOO!!!

Lockyear - Store Street/katabatic Wind
OTB006
OTB Records
12inch28.01.201628.JAN.16

HouseMinimalTechTechno

The sixth release on OTB Records sees debutant Lockyear explore new territory for the imprint/label.

Honing his craft and tastes in Manchester, the now London based producer draws influence from dance music spanning multiple decades and regions: from Detroit to Norway, Amsterdam and Vancouver. On the A side, Store Street channels the capacious vigour of packed Manchester warehouses from years gone by. A charging lead and polyrhythmic drum line combine to disorient and urge dancers to frenzy. Katabatic Wind finds Lockyear in more contemplative form. As a symphony of disjointed ambient textures and glassy, washing synths envelop a tense bottom line, the groove's driving meditation tugs on feet and minds alike.
For the visual identity, OTB records started collaborating with 88888, an interdisciplinary artist-duo who designed an art stamp that will be used to produce the vinyl sleeves by hand, making each piece unique.
Vinyl will be available 1 month before the digital release.

HouseDeepTech

Since its birth in 2002, Truesoul has grown into a solid, dependable label. Known as Drumcode's little brother, Adam Beyer has taken Truesoul and twisted it into a platform for new and emerging talent to be thrust into the world of electronic music. Each release has its own unique identity and each track brings something new and unique to the label. The quality of each track is paramount and that has been proven with previous releases from some of the finest talent within the industry.
With future releases from the likes of Reset Robot and Geddes, Truesoul is positioning itself as a label to be reckoned with.
Okain is a French DJ and producer who's grown up in Paris. He has previously released on labels such as Tsuba, Bpitch Control, Quartz, Viva and Upon You which, has gained him recognition across the board.
He has toured around the world at clubs such as Fabric, Rex Club, Row 14, Watergate and more helping him to become one of the most charted artists on Resident Advisor. A new name to join the ever-expanding Truesoul roster is 'Okain'. His first EP on Truesoul majestically crosses the paths between house and techno. Using deep underlying sub bass rhythms throughout his tracks, Okain creates grooves that maintain an extremely funky feel throughout this EP.
The use of percussion helps to reinforce this and keep the free flowing momentum going strong.

HouseTechTechnoTechno

We are proud to introduce one of Holland's finest to our roster. We have been big admirers of Sandrien's DJ-sets and the fruits of her studio efforts for many years. When she send us 'Haters', it was love at first sight. This left field gem falls neatly between several genres such as techno, electronica and house. There's no way around the stunningly beautiful dance between the theme and bassline, sweeping in out througout the track, constantly building without reaching a climax. Digital bonus track Goodbye is build on the same pillars, but is more rough around the edges. She proves once again that the simplest ideas usually have the most beautiful results.
In Berghain resident and Ostgut Ton recording artist Marcel Fengler we found the perfect match for the rework. Marcel is well known for combining typical Berlin-style raw grooves with melancholic melodies, thus adding sparks of light in the darkness. He even skipped the typical 4x4 groove in his interpretation, giving the bassline and melancholic washes of strings endless space to take over control. He manages to do this wihout losing any danceability or impact when played out on the dancefloor. We take out hat off for you Marcel and Sandrien and welcome aboard.

Tcb - Rather Happy Songs

HOUSE IS OK

HouseDeepMinimalTechSlowBeatsLounge

House Is OK's seventh instalment goes Kraut with a three tracker from Chris Beiswenger formally known as TCB (The Citizen's Band). Since the split up of Arto Mwambe, Chris has been slowly building a sound of his own. Instead of sticking to standard templates he has gone deep into modular synthesis and his music can be described as futuristic, kindred and cerebral.
Labels such as Live At Robert Johnson, Tasteful Nudes and Story already recognised TCB's unique twist and Rather Happy Songs' is just another proof of his unquestionable quality. These three mid-tempo techno ballads will get your mind moving and spirit floating while your body will fall in instant trance dancing to these highly hypnotising pieces. A remix from Roman Flu¨gel on top makes the EP a 100% Frankfurt affair' and when it
comes to House and Techno, we Frankfurters take our green sauce' serious, don't we
Cheers,
HIOK Team

Amir Alexander - The Butterfly
ARGOT017
Argot

HouseTech

Amir makes his triumphant return to Argot with an exceptional and strange EP. Having launched the label in 2012 w/ his Gutter Flex EP, listeners are reacquainted w/ the eerie depths of Alexander's current sound across three arresting new tracks.
"This EP name-drops many subjects and themes for those who are truly interested in 'lifting the veil' in order to fully understand what we're up against. It's also just a nice deep house record for those who only want a good beat to party to. Like life, it is what you make it." - Amir Alexander
The Butterfly is a seductive record. Its supple grooves and unique textures are ear-catching whether or not you notice the twisted lyrics of "Butterfly (The Monarch)" or the read into titles like "Many False Prophets". Yet close observers are rewarded with bread crumbs that bring Alexander's perspective into focus.
The haunting vocals on "Butterfly (The Monarch)" reference Monarch mind control techniques, intermixing comforting familiar phrases with dark, affected passages. They seem surreal threaded through limber bass licks and bold organ patterns, Alexander's signature 909 hi-hats cutting through the fray. "Black Mass" engages audiences in deeply hypnotic patterns that grow to a near frenzy before falling back into ritualistic patterns. And "Many False Prophets" is a lament for the easily misled, encircling listeners with gorgeously evolving percussion patterns and gently waltzing organ lines. "Deep, dark, and brooding," as Alexander puts it. That's an apt description of the whole record, as well.
