House Vinyl New Releases - News

Cologne based lone ranger, producer, coffee drinker and occasional bike rider Steffen Baldo aka Ugly Drums has been fine tuning the spokes of his career for 10 hard working years.
Making early marks in the scene with his "Next Room EP" on German based label Polyfon, which received support from Moodymann, MCDE and cemented his reputation early on. Steffen later released dance floor workouts on Rush Hour, Fifty Fathoms Deep, Black Key Records, Quintessential and KOLOR LTD.
His 2013 album left a burning mark on the sample based house scene, pushing the boundaries of the melting pot of his home base Cologne.
Mr Drums has also extensively backed up his original works by remixing the likes of Manuel Tur, Toby Tobias, Holly Backler, Andy Ash, Inkswel and Bartellow.

After the smashing "Get Up" edit released on FACES alongside Kid Sublime and Jayson Brothers, Ugly Drums is back on FACES Records with his best work yet "The Freak EP". Co-produced by Kalakuta Soul System, Chesney and featuring Detroit based MC/Producer :brownstudy, Steffen deliver a multi dimensional, raw, untainted EP, that displays a splash of all colours- House, Disco and Hip Hop. A definitive weapon for the record crate!

Azari & III's undeniable pop hooks and pitch-perfect vintage house sensibilities have lent themselves to some of the best and most popular remixes in recent memory. Now, the trend continues as Turbo presents a vital new wave of top reworks of the group's endlessly fertile catalog.
REMIXERS

Turbo New Jacker Locked Groove takes "Manhooker" out of the vice squad lockup and turns it out under a strobing streetlight with a killer acid bassline. Yet another notch in the young Belgian's ever-tightening dance-belt.

The peerless Konrad Black cuts open "Indigo" and excises the Dark Heart of House, leaving it throbbing mechanically on the warehouse floor with over 10 minutes of cold techno precision.

Fresh off co-writing and producing a track on Jamie Jones' last album, rising house star Luca C sends love from Ibiza with a mix of "Manic" that is somehow even more lifestyle-friendly than the original.

Finally, the release is capped off with an alternate version of Maceo Plex's enduringly popular remix of "Manic", slowing down the BPM while pumping out a bumping tom groove. We couldn't in good conscience let you have another life-changing pool party without it.

Ethereal and chilly hardware jams from Bobby Draino & D. Tiffany out of Vancouver, BC. Previously collaborating on a 1080p tape release, they meet again for one collab and two solo tracks on this record. Mixed by D.S.R.

Bret Winans (aka CB-R & CB Radio) produces music out of a studio in Brooklyn. Using a variety of gear that has been amassed over the past decade, he's experimented with house, italo, techno and more. 2014 saw the release of CB-R's Inside Existence, an EP of dub techno and ambient textures that launched the S//P//A imprint. He's also appeared on the 100% Silk 2015 label comp, Sunset Silk, as CB Radio with the more italo leaning Pacific Ocean Blues.' With each release we're opened up to another side of the producer's world. Available on Full Color Jacket LP by New York based visual artist and musician Jay Goitia.

yesss, now repressed !!! Sonntagskind and David Jach from Dresden teamed up for this incredible Release! Kol Mojito rocks!

With "Closer" Masterton debuts on Blackfoxmusic's 19th release (BFM019). "Closer" is a warm track with a deep groove and beautiful melodies. It relates to living in a long distance elationship and overcoming a lack of proximity. Robert Babicz (Babiczstyle, Systematic, Bedrock Records) created an incredible remix. He used lots of the original melodies, combined them with new elements, added rolling drums and a thick bassline to give the
track the extra drive. His remix became a constant part of his live sets and was debuted with great response at Grelle Forelle (Vienna) and Ritter Butzke (Berlin). Channel X (Stil vor Talent) remixed "Closer" into a pretty cool and clubby deep house track. You can feel their Berlin origin when listening to the groovy bassline with variations of the melody. Finally the breaks capture the mood of the dissonant sounds from the original track. Supported and played by: Dj T / Danny Howells / Solomun / Âme / Martin Böttcher / Dj Felipe / Slam / Tony Rohr / Sasha / Robert Grant...Reviews: Dj Mag / De:Bug / Faze / Resident Advisor / Ibiza Voice...

Technicolour maintains it's impressive run of form with the Dollar EP by Newcastle based hardware addict NY*AK.
Following up on an excellent 12" for Karakul - a Phonica Records sub-label - he channels the spirit of legendary rhythm architects Herbie Hancock, Theo Parrish, Kenny Dope and Lil' Louie Vega, collating four rough gems made using an MPC, Nord Lead 2, Roland SH101, Roland 606, Juno 106, Jen SX1000, Rhodes 88MK1 and with the help of Mark Hand on keys, Misumami on vocals and Ian Blevins. Each track packs incredible punch in the groove stakes, undoubtedly the characteristic that has attracted the likes of Moodymann, Seven Davis Jr and Gilles Peterson to NY*AK's music.

New label "INIT" has appeared from new minimal house scene of Tokyo. First release is a Compilations Singles like the label samplers! Artists included are "Takashi Himeoka" who has released from Rora and Ada Kaleh etc, "Yoshitaca" from Fasten Musique, "Shintaro. D" and "Kensuke Yasuhara" of INIT label founders. Presenting the exquisite track with cool sound flow of the current minimal house. VINYL ONLY.

After releasing the highly praised 1 year cd Natural Rhythm returned in the second year
with a brilliant double vinyl. With a rooster of veteran producers like Cristian Viviano ,
Manon , Horatio , Negru , Nicolas Duvoisin , Steve Nash and some highly skilled rookies
like Herck and Manu Gonzalez , Natural Rhythm 2 years compilation will be a success.

London based producer Alex Around has been a mover n'shaker on the scene for sometime now and looks set to further his upward trajectory with this meaty 3 tracker on Geddes' nofitstate label.. 'Diffuser' is a subtle groove with a blissed out touch whilst 'Homespun Wisdom' opts for a deeper tripped out route. Djebali provides the remix of 'Diffuser' on the flip, toughening up the drums to lend the track a houser edge.

For the first vinyl release on Sound & Object we are thrilled to have Chicago resident Area bring us the EP Forbidden Plateau. In Forbidden Plateau Area is able to create a mood of equal parts confident swagger and tentative emotion. Rich pads, loping piano melodies and robust rhythms swirl and mix to land somewhere between house and techno. The 3 original tracks - and a remix from Mikaere - create an EP that is full of space, details, bright edges and dark corners all framed by lively beats.

hardworksoftdrink is an analog creative collective founded by twelve friends faithfullyrepresenting the Offenbach and Frankfurt am Main area. They work on a range of cross-discipline projects including music production. The 4th vinyl output of hardworksoftdrink named 'Volcano Classic' is focussed on Felix
Reifenberg, one of the team's producers

With two releases already under his belt on Clone, Gary Gritness AKA Slikk Tim lands on Hypercolour with The Sugar Cane Chronicles Vol. 1. Gritness may be a relatively new name on the block, but his session work for artists like Kenny Bobien, Louie Vega and Grant Nelson has marked up this multi-instrumentalist as a clear talent. Hailing from France, Gritness had been spotted by Underground Resitance's 'Mad' Mike Banks as 'one to watch', and on his Hypercolour release, displays a deft hand of producing futuristic funk sounds. A spot on blend of raw drum programming and blissfull jazz funk riffs, Preachin Some Tight Game' sets the EP's tone just right with its infectious melodies and cruising groove. Darker 1980's soundtrack vibes are explored on Stayin' Strong Hand' with its thick analogue atmosphere, whilst the laid back and freestyle vibes of Working Girls' demands to be played in the Cadillac with the top down! EP closer, Fly Shit", continues with the tranquil melodies and G-Funk factor.

Another new face graces the halls of Soma's roster as American based Techno artist Jeff Derringer make a blistering debut with Panic. Jeff weighs in with 2 top-notch hypnotic Techno tracks and we also welcome a debut on Soma from the incomparable Mike Parker who whips up his usual storm of sound on his remix of title track Panic.

Not time is wasted as the EP open with all guns blazing. Staccato synth hooks loop out of control as buzzing percussion fuels the fire within this track. Bent out bass and sub aquatic pings keep this track rooted in the depths of unrelenting Techno.

Fellow American Mike Parker follows up Jeff's onslaught with his completely unique version of Techno. A solid 909 kick is warped beyond reality with looped out, frenzied synths that only Mike seems to be able to control. Percussive blips give rise to Mike's intentions within this remix as his keeps it dark, hypnotic and turbulent.

Panic Attack closes the EP with a little lighter edge as big chords permeate thunderous low end and dubbed out percussion. Building slowly, Jeff creates the perfect tension needed to deliver the goods and a subtle break in the flow gives rise to a devastatingly effective deep techno track.

Soma are proud to welcome an already well established artist to the roster and one that fits perfectly with the new drive of the label.

1st pressing of 500 copies in limited embossed sleeve & 180g Vinyl

Collaboration pushes us through conflict and pulls us back together balancing somewhere in between.

Artreform return and are gaining a high fan base, with fans of the label including Laurent Garnier, Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Jozif, Butch, Leon, David Durango, Ralf Gum, Heartik, UGLH and many more, you know they're on the money! Joss, D.Lamar, A.Harris. Hailing from the Ukraine, these talented producers have delivered some dance floor magic. Comprising of a combination of a local DJ legend Harris & Joss (the co label owner of Artreform), up and coming talent D.Lamar. Three original tracks starting with with the brooding groovy Get No Sleep, an incense workout that locks you in to its magical groove. Followed swiftly by Welcome, a deep techier affair, with its mysterious and tantalising vibe, with hints of that underground essence that Danny Tenaglia used to deliver in his productions. Welcome is remixed by Noah Pred who toughens things up, spicing up the beats and using the hypnotic synths and adding effects and depth. Closing the package we have You Got To Get In a warm yet deep housey number, subtle yet effective with its groovy undertones. Underground tasty winners from Artreform that need your listening attention

In January M.A.N.D.Y. dropped 'Gizmo' into our laps and caused quite a stir. Shortly thereafter, talks of remixes surfaced; and now here we are! We've got four stellar remixes from four special artists, Monoloc, Tim Green, Guti, and the one and only Marc Houle all set and ready to go. You'll even be able to get your hands on the vinyl four weeks before it hits digital shelves. The A side is home to CLR's Monoloc, who makes an appearance here with his dark remix of 'Gizmo'. With long rolling pads, sharp percussion and plenty of heavy energy to go around, this remix will surely find its way into the sweatiest of sets. Tim Green remixes 'Montagsmaschine' to complete the A side. Tim's perspective carries over the dark vibe of Monoloc's remix while keeping the energy reduced, allowing for a long, simmering track that fits nearly any time of day. Both Guti and Marc Houle play with 'Obsessed' to bring their own sound to the EP. Guti's remix is the deeper of the two, with hi hats blazing and the kicks punching. Marc's remix contrasts beautifully and keeps the atmosphere rather playful and snappy with a great tech-house vibe.

Harry Agius has been making waves as Midland since 2010, releasing a series of increasingly impressive 12's as a solo artist but also collaborating with the likes of Ramadanman (Pearson Sound), Breach and Pariah on labels such as Aus Music, Naked Naked, Works The Long Nights and his own Graded imprint. He is also a prolific remixer who has lent his talents to artists such as Lone, Guy Gerber, Julio Bashmore, Dusky and more.

We can proudly say he came to many people's attention via his first Phonica 12' 'Play The Game' back in 2010 and he has remained a friend and regular at the shop ever since. Midland's well deserved rise has been a delight to watch from the sidelines and we're glad to welcome Harry back to Phonica with the fantastic 'Before We Leave'. It starts slowly but surely as reverb soaked percussion comes to the fore, cushioned by the truly beautiful string melody, which we're sure will be stuck in many a head this year! This could well be Midland's most deftly handled arrangement yet.

Running Back's Gerd Janson wisely decides to stick to the original track's feel, letting the strings weave their magic, yet also brings the bassline and drums to the forefront. Delicately but expertly done. Midland rounds out the 12' with his barebones drums and percussion-only 'Bonus Beats' version, perfect DJ tool material. We wish more records had these!

The Colors team of Guilhem Monin and Stephane Ghencia follow up the beast 'Mamajunk' with an extremely strong 4 track ep by Thomas Roland. The lead cut 'Hurluberlu' flows with a smooth panache and the use of a great sample which has received support by Kerri Chandler.'Bubble Gum' struts away before the vocal lifts the song to higher places with devastating effects. The strip back approach of 'House Call' with the constant percussive groove alongside a cut of a chant of 'house' proves to be a winner too. 'House Call (NY meet Chicago mix)' brings up the rear and provides a respectful take on of the sound of Twilo and the Sound Factory Bar in the 90s. This is a great debut by a rising Parisian producer destined for greater things. KERRI CHANDLER:Very great release, i really like the vibe of Hurluberlu
TRUS'ME: last two tracks are something I would play. Laid back rolling tunes, a pre summer buy for sure.ILIJA RUDMAN:i like the Roland's tech house aporoach on this ...nice mastering on the cut...House version for me. JONNY ROCK: dude so good the bubble cut, well done. HECTOR MORALEZ: Will play and support

AUS Music continue on form in the follow up from their releases with Youandewan and their new addition Escape with a 4-tracker from label favourite Tom Demac who aligns his arsenal of hardware and readies a pack of rattling club tracks peppered with armoured kicks and luminescent textures. Throughout his releases on Hypercolour, Morris Audio, Murmur and Liebe*Detail Tom has never one to tether himself to any single style and as a producer, is never adverse to a challenge. His back catalogue evinces a broad ambit and showcases his knack for filtering myriad influences into a constantly evolving sound. His latest offering: the 'Smoke Stained Ivories' EP carries forth the power present in his anthology as it spans a variety of moods and textures that are propelled by his tough, thrumming percussion and sportive synth work.

For 3 years civil war has been going on in Syria - 4 million people have been fleeing from their own country - 2,6 million people live in refugee camps. These facts make our blood run cold. Following 'Containing A Thousand' and the 'Mountain Divide' EP, their pair of sublime releases for the label, Lakker now deliver their debut album 'Tundra', perfectly in line with R&S's techno heritage whilst also taking in influence and inspiration from the varied likes of No U-Turn Records, the choral music of Arvo Part, Merzbow, early Human League, and raw ethnic music.
The crowning achievement of their decade long musical career, 'Tundra' sees them once again blurring the lines between the 'real', organic / natural and the synthesised, virtual and 'artificial' the album contains field recordings from motorway tunnels in Japan, church bells from Schöneberg, a female choir from Dublin and Inuit throat singers.
'Tundra' is a titanic album of diverse and intense soundscapes that demands exploration by not only Aphex Twin obsessives, but also fans of the likes of Sunn o))).

Mike Parker is back with 3 massive abstract acidic tracks on Geophone.
The A side opens up with Mike's Autumn Remix of "Give Yourself Up 2 Techno" by Apple Juice featuring Sean Place. The buzzing high-pass filter pattern will shred speakers and precisely cut through any mix. The B side features two more originals by the label boss that explore oscillating low end frequencies and atonality as only Mike can. Pure techno, analogue style and created 100% live.

es gibt reis !!! Played by: Groove Armada, Monika Kruse, Alan Fitzpatrick, Anthony Collins, Spektre, ...

A collection of tracks, skits and moods for James Turrell´s visionary Roden Crater project by The Analog Roland Orchestra.

A new sub label for us, Church Volumes featuring friends from Peckham, L.A & Vancouver.

Three years have past since Battista's first solo EP on Warm Sounds. He's now back at it with "Balance", a more dancefloor oriented 12" including four dusty house stormers. Following the label's distinctive sound, Battista here delivers deep saturated kick drums, afro percussions (watch A1 "Untitled") and tight vocal lines empowering the sharply jackin' grooves. Heavy artillery here, especially A2 and B1: crunchy and straight forward floor-killers taking no prisoners. The EP closes on a more techno note, as dirty as it could be.

Ronan Portela , Pablo Cahn and many more.

Nikola Gala is back on Metropolitan with his unique style, from house sounds to techno atmospheres. After his single "Get Your Soul Back" Nikola presents this new track for your summer season! Mattei & Omich sign a cool remix on A2 with a very old school sounds, suitable for the miost demanding situations.

Aladdin is an atypical project at Versatile, even for Versatile's standards. In the base, the group consisted of Nicolas Ker — singer, chaotic poet (known from Poni Hoax, Paris, and his solo project yet to emerge) — and Gilbert Cohen, boss of the label. The two met in the studio after breaking up with their then-girlfriends, resulting in an album filled with inner pressure. 'We were strong so we got lost', released only on cd in June 2011, selling only 400 copies. And since then... nothing.

But thanks to a one-week studio session offered by a brand of energy drink, they met again, attracting Syd Barrett-influenced guitarist Eat Gas as a new member, to record new material. Besides Eat Gas and his haunted guitars, other musicians were lured to the studio to contribute to the latest Aladdin EP: 'Girls in Uniform'. Long jam sessions took place, featuring motorik drummer Mark Kerr, bass player Juan de Guillebon, and percussionist Francesco Lopez playing Brazilian percussions like the berimbau, and — hold your breath — the mouth harp.

With a cast alike, you'll understand the listening experience will be a hybrid one; in between rock, dub, kraut, interrupted by a break in the form of a strange fairy tale... Trevor Jackson has been a staunch supporter of the previous album, so asking him for a remix was an obvious choice. Glorified by the success of his compilation on the On-U Sound label, he swings in a remix dark as hell but with an unstoppable heavy groove. At last, Gilb'R delivers a smoky dub, one of the first recordings to roll out of his new Amsterdam studio.

Lonely souls together under thunderous grey skies recorded this for you while the snow poured outside. Frigid techno, sleep deprived angst and alien timbres from a distant place mark this as a memoir for Babicka & Mic Mills far more than their debut single.
