Spectral Sound has assembled four distinctive but complementary producers to flesh out Fort Romeau's remix 12", Frankfurt Versions. Dial Records vet Roman Flügel builds on vaporous atmosphere and snappy movements for his densely layered version of "Insides". Tackling "Lately" and "All I Want", Robert Johnson regulars Orson Wells and Massimiliano Pagliara display their love for bassline-driven dance music. And the Tuff City Kids outfit (a.k.a. Gerd Janson and Phillip Lauer) delivers two interpretations of Insides closer "Cloche". Frankfurt Versions doesn't just wrangle together Fort Romeau's cohorts and contemporaries, it illustrates their vitality in spades

Now already almost a year has gone by since 'Inspiration', the collaboration between Jah Wobble and singer PJ Higgins has come out on Sonar Kollektiv. With 'Chaingang (Remixes)' we get a further renewal of one of the eight tracks off the album. For instance Utrecht, Netherlands based multi-instrumentalist and producer Pitto gets down to work to morph the song into an eight-minute spheric techno extravaganza. Some sort of a teaser for his upcoming album on Sonar Kollektiv later this year (although it will sound completely different). Also releasing an album on Sonar Kollektiv in 2015 is producer Marlow from Weimar. His voodoo version of 'Chaingang' draws nearer to the original and incorporates the jubilee style gospel chanting to a hypnotically impelling rhythm. At the right time at the right place this remix will cause outmost frenzy on the dancefloor.

Continuing its ongoing theme of releasing records influenced by our vast universe, deep space, spirit and consciousness, Meander presents The Scorched Earth EP by Konrad Black, a selection of advanced 101 techno infused break-beat science. With his sparse, yet highly considered discography, Mr. Blacks first output for Meander draws key inspiration from recent earth-bound meteorites and the blinding light that follows. Creating precision dance music, Black conjures the essence of the explosive meteorite, its afterglow and its sonic resonance. The results are powerful, timeless sonic treatments for body and soul, pressed on heavyweight 180 gram vinyl. Initial copies available with handmade screen-print sleeves. Together with fellow Canadian Mathew Jonson, Konrad Black founded the influential Wagon Repair label in 2005 - A label that has had a heavy impact on the dance community with its relentless top-quality releases including those of Black himself. The Scorched Earth EP will be accompanied by a follow-up record in the form of remix-interpretations by genre defining artists from the underground electronic dance music scene.

Blossom Kollektiv returns to vinyl once again after the success of Jepe's 'Spring Shadow,' this time around inviting House and Techno veteran Matthias Vogt to the label. The two-track EP of finely crafted melodic and emotive Techno features remixes from Oliver Gehrmann and Jepe and is sure to find its way into DJ bags world wide.

Starting the EP off on a strong note with Solace, Matthias Vogt takes us on a magical journey like we're floating in the clouds with a driving kick and lush melodies that keep us soaring through the sky into a land of beautiful and lovely emotions. Then just when we feel like we're about to fall the track uplifts us once again into a place of cosmic bliss with rich piano notes full of substance.

Playing with the rich piano notes of the original Oliver Gehrmann creates his own vision of Solace bringing a deeper and more after hours feel. The track takes us through the elements of the original but reworking it ever so slightly while never losing the strong emotional sense of the original.

Next we come back to Matthias with Fluorescence where we once again are whisked of to a fascinating place full of melody and care free attitudes. However don't let this allure fool you, powered by a heavy kick drum and tight percussion this track will work wonders on any peak hour dance floor bringing a sense of euphoria to the crowd.

After returning from our blissful land Jepe brings us right to the floor with his straightforward house version of Fluorescence. Putting his stamp all over his version using classic piano stabs and funky percussion to make the track uplifting in a rhythmic way, then subtle synths from the original peek their heads out to create a little drama and suspense until the slamming kick drum kicks back in making the crowd move.

You can call them a »supergroup«, but Moderat understands that it's the »group« aspect that makes them interesting.

Gernot Bronsert, Sebastian Szary (aka Modeselektor) and Sascha Ring (aka Apparat) have been working together as a trio almost as long as their two separate projects have existed. We've seen their collaboration grow from »laptop boy-band,« (as Ring playfully puts it) in 2003—with computers synched using software Ring himself had written, because at the time, »there was just no live performance software around.«

Ring confesses that Moderat wasn't »really meant to be a recording act ,« with Bronsert agreeing that, »it was really just about fun.« This maybe explains the six-year break that followed Moderat's first EP before they finally returned in 2009 with their selftitled debut album. Intent on creating something that contrasted with their own projects, the group started the cycle which blossoms on their second album, aptly titled II, culminating now in the trilogy's completion, III. Whereas I was the combination of two separate entities, II brought the members closer together, and in III, the final chapter in the trilogy, Moderat sounds like one band.

Both Szary and Ring will tell you that Moderat moved progressively from making tracks towards a more traditional writing approach of making songs - a process more fully realized on III. That's partly why the vocals have become more prominent. Mostly, you hear Ring singing (there are no guests this time), as he so often does as Apparat, but listen closely to »Ghostmother« to hear Bronsert and Szary backing him up. Stepping out of their comfort zone is the kind of thing that helped create their interplay between pop and electronics, doing it right won them the Resident Advisor Best Live Act honor as early as 2009, and they continue to gain popularity while remaining independent and underground.

Szary describes the idea behind Moderat as, »imagin(ing) yourself sitting in the cinema and watching a movie with an incredible soundtrack.« This is true with Moderat in general, but III in particular pairs an emotional pull with sensual imagery, creating dynamic sound and depth with lyrics such as »the calming scent of lavender fills the air,« or »burning bridges light my way.« You'd have
to ask them whether they're intending to manipulate the listener in the same way that John Williams or Hans Zimmer might with traditional orchestras.

One of the best parts of Moderat is their use of electronics to achieve orchestral diversity. They update the songwriting tradition with an intriguing palette, borne of careful attention and skill, informed by their »experiences with sounds of nearly 25 years of suband club culture.«
Let's not forget that these three were brought together by Berlin's now legendary rave scene. With this as their common foundation as individuals, III signifies Moderat's maturation in modern pop — an achievement shared under their collective belt.

Bronsert explains that, »the new album isn't based on jams. We went into the studio and knew exactly what we needed to do.« This is reflected in the sophisticated themes explored in the music. Take »Ghostmother,« which ponders inner peace, acceptance, fear of the unknown and how facing that fear often reveals something not so scary. Or »Running,« which is about being part of a mass that constantly needs to move to function, but doesn't have the power to decide the direction of motion. Or how about the wisdom of »Reminder,« which recognizes the world for its flaws and our role we've each played in that, but choosing to act differently and light the way to something better.

Given that, it's a bit of an understatement when Bronsert says, »I'd say our music has definitely matured.« Successful in their own endeavors, now they've mastered the »group«. It doesn't mean the end of Moderat, but it does mean they'll have to find something else to excel in.

Shanti Celeste steps up with a full EP after her amazing "Strung Up" track from the recent Future Times compilation Vibe 3.
She uses the full A side for the killer "Being," a nasty dancelfoor cut that balances sleek, precision drum patterns with cool, showerdown melodies that haunt the feet AND the mental. The B Side starts off like a lost CBS Slow Burn cut with "Good Spirits," an exercise in machine romance, and ends with an ambient mix of the A side, to drift off into space with. Shanti is ON.

Side A features two tracks from Styro2000's Le Bal EP "Deselected", out on the same date, June 25th. Styro2000, Zurich's master of modular analogue systems and of "Galoppierende Zuversicht" fame with legendary live performances at Burning Man, is back with a solo release featuring his carefully crafted trademark sound of analogue minimal techno that seduces the listener with its rhythmic patterns and sonic waves.

Side AA features the third and final installment of the "Strange Sounds" remixes by Le Bal's own Manuel Mind & Valentino Tomasi. While in Volumes 1 & 2 (LEBAL1201/1202, LEBAL002), we invited mainly producers from our native Switzerland - Andri, Canson, Marco Repetto et al. - this time, we asked some international remixers to complete their visions of the track. It starts with DJ Slugo, one of the pioneers of Chicago Juke / Ghetto House, and his uncompromising deep bass 808 booty-shake Juke version; after that, Foremost Poets' Johnny Dangerous beats "Strange Sounds" with a bat, and out comes a syncope-driven "Mental" version that fully deserves its name. At last, Berlin-based Mijk van Dijk delivers a funky track with a boogie feel you feel the need to dance to.

Hypercolour welcome back the pairing of Lucretio and Marieu AKA the Analogue Cops. The Italian producers, now residing in Berlin, present 4 contrasting tracks of bit-crushed techno and loopy Chicago House armed and ready for this summer's parties. Having previously released two EPs on our HYPE LTD label, the pair follows up with more dancefloor certified vinyl of pure analogue goodness.

EP opener 'Vampire Killer' is a Lucretio's ode to bit crushed Techno, with 135+ beats per minute of face melting, drum machine funk. Beautifully distorted melodies (taken from the game Vampire Killer on the MSX2) contrast with distilled analogue rhythms to transport the listener to some lost world of computer games and 6am Techno.

'Shinobi' continues side A's theme of chip/game music twisted for the warehouse. Bitty melodic phrases push the track into orchestral territory, with heady arpeggios and feel good melodies evoking shades of late night Sega and SNES sessions and the days of proto-house.

'Corona' is Marieu's first contribution to the EP, taking his side of the wax into harder, darker territory. Deep, sine wave bass, impeccably mixed drums and a vocal lick that creeps into the mix without introduction; 'Corona' is a short sharp shock of a track. EP closer, 'McGraw', waltzes into vintage Chicago territory; with looping funk samples and slamming drums, this track proves you don't need 20 channels to make a burner. Pure 4-track House simplicity at it's best.

Vanguard Sound follows up on Guerilla Soul's self-titled EP with label co-head Chris Mitchell delivering Feng Shui Flow. Feng Shui Flow is an exploration into deep harmonic textures in the form of three distinct offerings.
A1 Primordial Gravitational Waves- As the name suggests, inspired by the possible discovery of gravitational waves believed to be reverberations of the big bang. Staccato Bass and drums provide the heavy background for a pulsing bass wave, accented by synths and chords conjuring up visions of interplanetary manifestation.
B1 Eurínome- Melancholic and intensely emotive chords and bass layered with intricate drums to paint this impression of the mysterious water goddess.
B2 4th Density- A synth heavy offering with several layers of bass, string like patches, and a sprinkling of choral sounds driven by a pair of kick drums Into a plane of telepathy, harmony and ascension.

Phantasy release the next in a series of remix 12s for Daniel Avery's hugely acclaimed "Drone Logic" album. First up, KiNK applies his ever-masterful touch to "Knowing We'll Be Here" for a wholly euphoric house embrace whilst, on the flip, label boss Erol Alkan resurrects Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve, his neu-pysche collaboration with Richard Norris, to push "New Energy" fully into the realm of the third mynd with a very special re-animation.

Irishmen Kieran Craddock & Peter Fleming, aka Effy, after 2 releases on Disco's Dead and Erimus, respectively, showcasing their jackin' house and dark warehouse proclivities, and attracting support from UK households such as Swamp81, are now armed and ready to join the IM family. Part of the encroaching brit monopoly of our roster, alongside Beaka, Seb Wildblood, Wallworks/RZR, Kalpa, iO Sounds, Troy Gunner et al, their work on "Distant Sounds" is a testament to our dedication to steal the cream of the crop of UK talent and release it on the other side of the Atlantic. Tee-hee. Now then, on to the music.

"Move" is probably the sexiest track we've ever put out (barring the dubious sensuality of most Liar trax). "Just a little bit" go the breathy vocal cuts, and the rest of the track complies. Seductive rather than lascivious, it's pervaded by a less-is-more approach that does away with any superfluous element one might encounter in modern clubbing.

"Bourbon Switch" continues among the same lines, albeit being a bit of a punchier, more driving affair. Garage percussion, basslines, house groove, techno gravitas - for anybody familiar with the UK scene, this is nothing new; however, few others juggle these as well, and with as much functionalist immediacy, as Effy do.

On the remix tip, things get mental. Troy Gunner takes "Move" into heretofore uncharted territories - stripping down the track even more, utilizing silence and space to spectacular results, and inflecting a thoroughly alien rhythm. Hound Scales does the very opposite, driving his 'Shade 2 Go' remix hard, plentifully building atop the original into a perfect morsel for those hungry for his unique brand of outsider techno. Lower East launched in the Summer of 2010. It was the result of a coming together of 3 likeminded friends: Cozzy D, Lee Brinx and Ed Kane (Kanio/Dexter Kane). All established members of the London scene in their own right, they combined forces to create a label with one simple ethos: quality electronic music. Whilst the idea itself is unified, the influences are vast. Disco, Techno, Garage, Hip-Hop, Drum and Bass, Jazz, 80's and Soul all inspire Lower East's subtle blend of 4/4 beats. Notable artists on Lower East include: Lee Foss, Gavin Herlihy, Robert James, Uner, Nima Gorji, Pezzner, Richie Ahmed, Puente and Rosche, Waifs and Strays, and Death on the Balcony.

With support from Clash, DJ Mag, XLR8R, Rinse FM, B. Traits, Mistajam, Maison Sky have garnered a solid reputation across media, tastemakers and artists alike. The young West London DJ & Producer duo now join the ranks of Breach's ever-evolving, buy- on-sight imprint, Naked Naked.

On the A side, 'Incline' is a rolling workout led by crisp snare shots through a dark landscape of undu- lating bass and ethereal overtones. An unrelenting groove riddles both tracks as the flip takes things a little more peak time with 'Wallflower', hitting harder and upping the ante that little bit more with some ravier-inspired keys.

Flexing signature versatility, Woolford goes from heads-down to hands-in-the-air in the flip of a record: a dance floor locked in to the twisted sirens of acid rave (Orbit) experiences a sudden belly rush as it collectively comes up to piano breakdowns and female chant (MDMA). The new release by Ricky Erre Love is called "Novulation" for Pugliese label Metroklang Records, who took it to the third stage in a musical adventure entirely "underground". The vinyl comes after the first one "Barduloso" (April 2011), with contributions from Yapacc in the remix, and the second "Disco Ball", (November 2011) featuring Chilean DJ Aldo Cadiz. The album is promoted with the support of PUGLIA SOUNDS - PO FESR PUGLIA 2007/2013 ASSE IV. "Novulation" expresses a musical concept rich in content: which is the creation of a new creature, a being who is, who wants to live and wants to express himself. Ricky Erre Love, with this new album, leads us to discover a new generation of house techno. "Novulation" a track that gives name to the project, is characterized by elements of old school, rich shades of dub and techno, with an evocative and dreamy percussive melodic development. The groove is complemented by a bass-line that is full-bodied and attractive. Overall, the track retains softness and elegance. The same song is remixed by the Venezuelan Argenis Brito, former star of several record releases on labels like Cadenza and Nice Cat: in his interpretation of "Novulation", you feel the entire culture of the South American and African funk influences creating music for clubs. With "Walking In Love" it continues with a colorful sound journey: the lead being with the electronic guitars, defined by a carat dub and enlivened by a funky bass, eclectic melodic and gentle rug, designed to generate an entrancing atmosphere.

Last May saw the release of Illogical Directions, the third album by Shinedoe, to be released with critical acclaim. Surely a mesmerizing highlight in the artist's career, the album represents several deep and melodic excursions in nowadays deep and tech house, while her own imprint Intacto Records also added a beautiful gem in its discography.

Now the Amsterdam based DJ delivers another momentum for the world famous label, with an impressive line-up of producers reshaping some of her already monumental tracks into something completely new. Yes, the remixes are upon us!

Illogical Directions The Remixes Part 2
Things are about to get even more profound, proves Jerome Sydenham with his remix of Wo Wei. Originally a simple, funk filled groove, the New York veteran creates a straight up house classic out of this bonus track, beautifully build around elegant synth lines and sounds that seem to come out of drum computer heaven.

If that isn't enough, Dutch own Tom Trago also takes a shot at Essence, this time evolving into a slow burning moment of euphoria, broken house music from the deep, it's as vivacious as it can get. Finally, 'mister Dial' Lawrence takes care of Panomanic again, letting piano chords take over a delicate rhythm before the music moves into faraway, melancholic atmospheres, a more than fitting complement to Shinedoe's creation.

It is an honor to release two beautiful tracks from accomplished artist Einzelkind on Fantastic Friends. The skilled producer has more than a trick in his sack, proven by his releases on Infuse, Cecille and on his own imprint Pressure Traxx.
The first track « Dirtybird » is a tech house gem that bewitches us with its synth and super shaky rhythm. « Throwback », on the other hand, takes a totally different direction, with its african influences and double kick, giving it that typical « opening » or « closing track » kind of special vibe.

Following a summer of fifth birthday celebrations, Tom Trago's Voyage Direct label returns to action with a brand new 12' from Amsterdam scene stalwart Simon Weiss.
Although a new member of the Voyage Direct family, Weiss is no newcomer to the scene. He's previously delivered high grade EPs for Rush Hour, Deepermotions and Home Taping Is Killing Music, and his contribution to First Mission, Voyage Direct's fifth anniversary compilation, was one of the undoubted highlights of that set.

It's that track - the gloriously positive 'Tele-Vision', and it's cyber-house fusion of darting synthesizer arpeggios, Detroit-influenced percussion, and thrusting acid bass - that heads up Weiss' first EP for Voyage Direct.

Dutch veteran and longtime friend of the family Dexter turns in a stunning remix, putting a well-placed boot up the backside of 'Tele-Vision' via speaker-shaking sub bass, kaleidoscopic electrofunk motifs and thumping techno rhythms. It's a stunning re-make, and one that takes Weiss' fine original to even greater heights.

Flip the record for two previously unheard Weiss productions. First up is 'Ghost', a supernatural house shuffler full of alien synths, wayward melodies, intergalactic electronics and crunchy drum machine hits. Weiss flips the script slightly on 'Super Sub', pairing his now trademark vintage synthesizer refrains and tumbling electronics with a heavyweight, bassline-driven groove. It's a sweet and evocative track, but critically also packs a punch.

&ME is a no stranger to delivering high quality EPs to Saved and this time round continues the maintain that standard.

The Berlin based member of Keinemusik delivers 2 tracks which possess his unique signature styles that are already blowing up dance floors across Europe.
