Thomas Mullarney III and Jacob Gossett are unstoppable. The New York artists, collectively known as Beacon, have been on a productive hot streak since 2012, and their efforts continue to pay. "When we weren't writing," Mullarney starts, "we hit the road and didn't really look back. We toured the US five times since The Ways We Separate came out, building this project the old-fashioned way." And Beacon's natural, time-tested process has brought us Escapements, their sophomore album for Ghostly. "We went into this feeling liberated," continues the singer/producer, and Gossett seems to echo his thought: "This record is in part our attempt to formulate what Beacon is going to look and sound like going forward." Escapements is about time, to put it simply, and all of the baggage it brings. The title is taken from clock mechanics, escapements are timekeeping regulators designed to transfer energy at a constant pace. "I was attracted to this concept because of the entropy it implies," Mullarney explains. "Friction and changes in amplitude over time mean every escapement, no matter how well crafted, will lose its accuracy and eectively slow down time via its own decay." This theme is delicately explored through Beacon's music and lyrics, engaging ideas of pain and loss with a surreal palette. Whereas the duo's debut was more streamlined and defined, Escapements thrives on an amorphous, free-flowing nature.
More than just a central concept, time manifests itself in these 11 songs quite literally, too. Take opener "IM U", a slow-swelling cut of electronic pop that has knocked around in Beacon's arsenal since the beginning. As Gossett puts it, "In its final form, 'IM U' is a track that has the history of the project embedded into it, an old idea filtered through years of growing interests and experience as songwriters." His idea is reflected by the remarkable cover photo, a single shot taken by Caleb Charland in darkness for eight hours. "The arc of the star trails show the rotation of the earth," Gossett points out. "I can't imagine a better representation of time, process, and discovery. It's how we wanted Escapements to sound."

After the initial demos were written, Escapements was refined and recorded over the course of nine months at Beacon's Brooklyn home studio and Gary's Electric, where it was mixed by Al Carlson. Tycho drummer Rory O'Connor was brought in to perform, unleashing new energy onto the Beacon sound and helping expand it to unheard places. Which is another notable theme on the album. "I hope this record proves our restlessness and shows that we really aren't content to have only one approach to creating music," says Mullarney. "Every part of our process is linked to discovery." And that meant trying out studio tricks and recording techniques on the fly, getting lost in the process until they came out the other side. Like on "Cure", Escapements' frenetic, breakbeat-inspired penultimate track. Mullarney explains: "There's a moment where I was simply playing chords on the studio Wurlitzer and singing while the mic recorded the room. The idea was to escape the produced electronic music, just for a moment, and capture the energy in the room."

Suffice it to say that Escapements tackles the difficulties of a sophomore album by ignoring their existence altogether—this is a record truly free of constraint and expectations. But because it's still a Beacon album, the duo's identity continues to shine through. Mullarney's voice sounds full and confident, even as it floats weightlessly over limber dancefloor constructions in songs like "Backbone" and "Better or Worse". It's a precise balance, and yet feels wholly organic. "When you don't give yourself a specific place to land you never really miss," Gossett adds. "We just tried to trust ourselves and not put limitations on what this record was supposed to be. In that sense, it's exactly the record we were meant to make."

Detroit Swindle - Huh, What! Ep
DIRT076
Dirt Crew Recordings

HouseClubTechSlow

Collecting orders for repress.
This is the first EP taken from Detroit Swindle's upcoming debut album 'Boxed Out' to be released on the 24th of March 2014 on Dirt Crew Recordings. To heaten up the anticipation on the long awaited debut album by Amsterdam's finest Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets we give you three tracks from the album as a little teaser to what is to come on the full length. First up is the title track 'Huh, What!' a true Detroit Swindle banger that takes us back to pumping Chicago old school house times. Much like their last EP on Dirt Crew that included 'John Doe' this new tune will (and we don't like this expression but can't think of another way to explain the sheer brutal power of this track) 'destroy' the dancefloors! If that wasn't enough bass in your face we got Leon Vynehall and A1 Bassline under their 'Laszlo Dancehall' moniker to rip 'Huh, What!' to shreds, resulting in a dark, pounding, straight up jackin' techno groove. Very raw and edgy, tweaking the original's key elements perfectly to join the dark groove going on. Definitely not for the faint of heart. The B-Side takes us back to that sweet and deep Detroit Swindle house groove. 'The Fat Rat' is much in the style of their last 'The Make Up to Break Up' release on their own 'Heist' imprint. A groovy percussive and soulful stabby house excursion, Amsterdam to Detroit via New York and back! 'Monkey Wrench', the last track on this EP, is just beautiful and quite possibly one of the highlight down tempo house tracks of the Album. It has this slow groove we all love from the Swindle's and a combo between the warm sound of the rhodes and the electronic feel of the arpy bass that really makes you love the track more and more each time you play it.

Detroit Swindle - Guess What Ep, Leftside Wobble
DIRT067
Dirt Crew Recordings

HouseDeepVocalTechFunky

Detroit Swindle are back on Dirt Crew, after their tremendous succes within a year of their first release we are very happy to have them follow up the great - Nothing Else Matters EP' they released in April 2012. So what can you expect here, the same stab driven deep bassy house joints like the previous release of course. The boys are currently ruling the club scenes with amazing releases. With their - Creep EP' on Jimpster's brilliant Freerange label they cemented their place in the House music scene in 2012 for sure. Here you will find three new original cutz and a contribution by Leftside Wobble who remixed the title track. As one of the edit kings in the UK right now, he took the original towards a new direction as in an edit kind of way and kept most of the original feel and sound of the track. As a bonus on the vinyl edition of this release we put their biggest track to date - Jick Rames' that was released earlier this year digitally. So it's up for the next round for Detroit Swindle to even make it bigger in 2013!

We are very proud to present the first release of our vinyl series. Last Magpie - She Won't Let Ep
SUKI016
Suki
12inch21.08.201421.AUG.14

HouseDeepElectronicaTech

That man, Craig McNamara AKA Last Magpie, is proving a popular choice round here at Hypercolour/Losing Suki HQ. With various EPs and remixes for both our labels, it's also rubbed off on some of our artists too, with the likes of Maya Jane Coles being a big supporter (getting a Last Magpie re-rub of her 'Everything' track on her new label I/AM/ME). His always on point blend of genres, from bumpin' garage kissed house to hardcore bass monsters mark him out as a very versatile producer, and on the 'She Won't Let' EP, the Magpie once again spreads his wings over four cuts.

Title track, 'She Won't Let' contains dark flavors within, the brooding bassline and clattering breakbeats jostle alongside the down tuned vocals and drum rolls, music for long dark tunnels with sweat soaked walls, the Magpie flexes his hardcore influences right here. 'Chicken Shop' is equally disjointed but no less funky, some freaky deaky monologue (from the chicken shop, obviously) and looped vox phrases ride over the bare bones back beat, booming b-line and distorted low end stabs for a proper unique track.

'Initial' finds the Magpie immersed in modular synths, as the arps twist around a moody, skanking beat, like Carl Craig just showed up at a Massive Attack 'Mezzanine' recording session. Impressive stuff. And closing the EP, a re-rub of 'Roots', which first made its appearance on 2013's Losing Suki '1995' release, and was recently was used by move d on his most recent Fabric mix CD. McNamara revisits the track here and adds dollops of authentic 90's early jungle/breakbeat vibes all over it for that true M25 experience!

Core Artist, Steven Cock presents his new energetic The Kickomat EP. Introduced by a Trippy deep bassline & Kicks, surrounded by some light shaker, the title track Kickomat steadily evolves until the stick-characteristic hihat tightens the mix.Following Daniel Stefanik puts the titletrack into a more spheric industrial background, highlighting different parts of the original.Last, there is the secret Weapon Aa2 of Steven Cocks new work. Mechanical percussion flanges through great halls, bringing up the formative chord, accompanied by slight-disruptive synth elements. Various - New Transmissions Part 2
PRMT2002
Primate
12inch09.06.201509.JUN.15

HouseTech

So, the return of Primate Recordings is gathering pace, and hot on the heels of the extremely well received 'New Transmissions pt1', comes the second part of the re-launch trilogy for the label, 'New Transmissions pt2'!!!!
Again the release features a variety of styles, and features friends, both old and new, to the label, each with their own take on the sounds that will move a dance-floor. We think that overall this release has a 'tougher' feel to it than the 'pt1', but you can all be the judges of that.

One thing is for sure though, and that is that this release highlights the undoubted talents of some of the most gifted producers on the global techno scene today.
'New Transmissions pt2' totally encompasses the labels philosophy of 'Techno Sounds For A Modern World', but with a 'Primate' slant to proceedings. All tracks will continue to contain the 2 most important of elements, 'groove' and 'quality'.
Have a listen, turn the volume UP, enjoy the music, and hopefully embrace and support the return of the label that meant so much, to so many people.

Support from: Marco Bailey, Tom Hades, Billy Nasty, Carl Cox, Paul Mac, Ben Sims, Chris Liebing, Dave Clark, DJ Remy,

Ark & Pit Spector - L'empire D'essence
CCS078
Circus Company
12inch23.07.201323.JUL.13

HouseTechAcid

Swinging from the chandelier and setting fire to the feast, our original raison d'etre is back to raise merry hell and we couldn't be happier as accessories to the crime. Ark was one of the biggest influences on Circus Company when it first formed from the freakier corners of the Paris scene, and since day one he has been a guiding force in maintaining an uncompromising attitude towards house and techno in all its most flamboyant forms. It has been some time since the Mr. Full Destructor graced our label, but he comes to us on a wave of productivity that has seen recent singles for Versatile and Thema boast developed studio skills clashing with the same punk spirit that has always forced Ark to stand on his own for the safety of the other kids on the dancefloor. On this new EP, Guillaume Berroyer has never sounded so urgent, so demanding, and yet so in control of his creative powers. 'Hall Of Confusion' is a brutal call to arms that channels rolling breakbeat badness into a nerve-jangling alarm while the samples come flying thick and fast throughout the jam. As if to complete twist with your fragile state of mind, the track's successor 'Tirés Par Les Chevaux' employs a horse to drag you by the hair back into some refined beat-head shit (as La Funk Mob would say), calling to mind some of those early downtempo interludes you would find on Brif Records but still played out like a psychedelic doodle pad of ideas and samples. Never afraid to wave two irreverent fingers at the electronic music establishment (with the utmost respect behind it of course), 'Troll Of Detroit' comes to life on some romantic Motor City strings before mutating into a bastard child of the early days of the Belleville Three, still sounding inimitably like Ark.

Daniel Bortz - Patchwork Memories (2lp+cd)
SUOLLP004
Suol
3x12inch21.10.201321.OCT.13

HouseDeepElectronicaTech

Digitaline - Wanna Ep, John Tejada Rmx
CF016
Cityfox
12inch13.11.201213.NOV.12

HouseTech

First of all we're fans of Digitaline since the first hour. We're more than proud to present their third EP on Cityfox. Another time they combine their distinctive grooves with unforeseeable melodies. That's exactly what we love about them - always expect the unexpected. 'Wanna' is the best example for this winning formula. Out of the clear sky, suddenly you get hypnotized by a huge repetitive hook. Simple and complex at the same time. Dynamic in its purest form. 'Stuck Off The Realness' represents another well known strength of Digitaline - an irresistible rhythm construct combined with abrubt vocals opening a mental and psychedelic brightness. This is something for your body, brain and soul. We made the right decision asking John Tejada to remix 'Wanna'. He adds his own flavour but never loses the original spirit. Pushing it to an almost meditative point before starting all over again with Digitaline's main melody. We would describe this package as contemporary, yet modern and timeless music.

HouseDeepMinimalTech

Who would have thought that, when OLIVER KOLETZKI released his 'Blackout' EP as SVT001 almost eight years ago, Stil vor Talent would reach the catalogue number 100 With our 100th release, we can look back on lots of fantastic music, music by artists who have become part of a close-knit family of friends. We hear the surprising and unexpected, as well as a signature sound in constant development. Here, on the first of two vinyl releases we showcase some of the highlights of 'Oliver Koletzki Presents Stil vor Talent 100'. Classy and understated, SASCHA BRAEMER shines on 'Need Someone' featuring STEVO, a laidback, subtle and utterly beautiful track on the A-side. With 'Thinking About You', KELLERKIND then provides a fine nu disco bomb that re-contextualizes classic strings and harmonies in a contemporary framework, while focusing on his trademark sound and a catchy vocal sample. Staying true to our philosophy, we also warmly welcome some new faces to the family. The Berlin-based duo of MARLON HOFFSTADT & HRRSN kick off the flip side with the positively poppy 'Once Again', on which HRRSN's vocals make for a definite highlight. Last but not least and heavily anticipated, 17-year-old JONAS MANTEY's 'Sie ist Schön' exemplifies an impressive command over melody and arrangement - emotionally charged, tearjerkingly beautiful.

The Micronaut - Bootsmann Auf Der Scholle Ep

12inch04.02.201304.FEB.13

HouseDeepMinimalVocalTech

Title-track 'Sisters' kicks things off off a bumping bass line and strong percussion and the track moves along until a distinctive vocal, which is sure to be one of the most memorable hooks of the year, enters the fold. 'Sisters' reminds us that there is always summer somewhere, a true anthem. Following on is 'Keep A Movin' which is a hypnotic rolling house track full of energy but with a darker vibe and an equally engrossing vocal - sure to be deadly on the dancefloor. On remix duties, tINI instantly marks her personal stamp on the original by taking out much of the vocal, slowing the BPM and infusing a woosy meandering bassline with the original melody. The end result is both brilliantly trippy and totally engrossing. Overall then, the 'Sisters EP' showcases Tiger Stripes considerable talent through three tunes of the highest calibre.

Uner - Tune 432 2x12"
DIYNAMICLP11
Diynamic Music

HouseDeepTech

UNER is proud to announce the arrival of his latest album, Tune432. It comes on the Diynamic label that he has been an important part of in the last four years and proves him to be one of the day's finest house producers. 2013 has been another great year for the man having been a regular in Ibiza at parties like Insane at Pacha, Diynamic Neon Nights at Sankeys and Carl Cox's night at Space. So too did he release the excellent Phamovi EP on Cocoon in July, adding the label to his already impressive discography alongside the likes of Cadenza, and he also picked up an award as best DJ newcomer in 2013, got nominated for Artist of The Year at the Vicious Awards and undertook an extensive tour of the best clubs in America from Chicago to New York, San Fran to Miami. It has taken one year for TUNE432 to take shape, working while travelling and producing day and night. Says the man himself of the album... 'It's been a very intense and exciting process. It's taken a full year for Tune432 to take shape, working while travelling, producing day and night. It's been hard but also extremely pleasant to collaborate with artists I truly respect in my most important release to date. As a professional musician I love to surround myself with people who can contribute with special things to the creative process, people like Piek, Kafele Bandele, Negra and Lazarus, among others. They've contributed to their own music, amazing voices, lyrics. I think I've managed to come up with something very special. The result is completely what I had in mind when I started it.' The end result is spectacular.

V/a - Paris Club Music - Volume 3
CCB-PCM03
ClekclekBoom Recordings
2x12inch17.09.201517.SEP.15

HouseDeepMinimalTech

It's that time again at CCB headquarter for reaping the harvest of another good year for the label.
The "Paris Club Music, Volume 3" is here and the journey is better than ever. Once again the full crew worked hard to deliver this time a more contemplative yet still percussive set of tracks exploring the dance music of tomorrow. First in the field Bambounou and French fries teams up for "Mizu Ni Idou Suru" an intimate slow mo thing playing with intricate rhythm textures and dusty key stabs fading away in the back. Aleqs Notal use some lush pads in "Ceos Vision" melted with delicate tribal percussions who would perfectly fit in a 8 A.M. set. Next in line is the digital voodoo vibes from "Ceremony", in this mental track Coni uses a more dubby approach to the sound, mixed with and industrial feel to it. Jean Nipon continues the party with a houser number, "Onibaba" focusing on soft elusive strings going through melancholy and a slightly more club oriented euphoria. Then there's the beautiful sonic schizophrenia of NSDOS in "Créteil Soleil" an hymn to the body and mind, full of modern bleeps, vapors and factory noises. In "Vertigo" the boys from Aethority invite us into a druggy haze where psychedelic drums and chords invade your brain slowly but surely. Closing the compilation, "Inorganic", is a playful jam where Manaré toy with effective repetitions and short accidents while sporadically cut by a sharp and filtered bass line. Mostly made of introspective cuts, "Paris Club Music, Volume 3" take the label aesthetic further than ever to a more mature and advanced way of thinking about dance music."

The EEE EP is the all fresh debut from Ensam, local vandal and core member of Solkyss. Born and raised troublemaker, he dropped out of school to make his way in to music. Luckily he could spend his days hiding in his fathers basement which resulted in his project progressing secretly over the years granting him a distinct cinematic groove with deep and atmospheric aesthetics.

Ezequiel Esley - Lazer Shots Ep
FDN001
Fantôme de Nuit
excl05.11.201405.NOV.14

HouseTech

Cordoba based producer Ezequiel Esley's Lazer Shots EP, complete with a remix from Nadia Popoff, is set to become the inaugural release Beirut based label Fantôme de Nuit.

Rising star Ezequiel Esley has been given the honour of the first release on the new Fantôme de Nuit imprint. The young Cordoba based selector is at his best here, serving up two original tracks and calling on the talented Nadia Popoff to come in with the remix.
'Eze' opens up his new release with the title cut, 'Lazer Shots'. Clocking in at over ten minutes, 'Lazer Shots' is a track of epic proportions. Opening up with a solitary brooding synth, it continues to grow for the next two minutes. Sprinklings of ambient glitch and spacey stabs make for a bumpy, dubby rhythm that carry the listener forward. As the track progresses we're treated to intergalactic synths and cryptically filtered vocals. Across the tracks ten, sultry minutes Esley continues to show off his credentials as a top notch producer.
'Submarine' is a B-side with some serious attitude. Featuring some serious low-end, Esley has crafted a true late night burner. The track is ripped forward by a mean bass line. Again the producers uses ambient vocals to create a sense of atmosphere, this time one of the darkest nature. Esley lays a touch of acid and a the slightest wobble to round off a truly menacing effort.
Argentinian leading lady Nadia Popoff steps up on remix duty and delivers her own techy interpretation of 'Lazer Shots'. Using a loan kick drum, Popoff constructs, deconstructs and reconstructs the tracks over its eight minute duration. Her drum programming is top notch and her distinctly South American sound can be heard throughout.
Ezequiel Esley's 'Lazer Shots' is out on vinyl and digital for Fantôme de Nuit, Month XXth 2014.

Luke Hess - Adventures In Deep Space Ep
ECHOCORDCOLOUR032
Echocord
12inch03.11.201503.NOV.15

HouseTechTechnoTechno

Adventures in Deep Space is a reflection of the wonder and complexity of recognizing that we as humans are creatures with a limited capacity stranded on a planet somewhere in the universe searching for meaning and purpose while also recognizing that what we do every moment can shape the outcome of our future on earth and might ultimately become small and meaningful stitching's that could shape the fabric of our future in space. Pillars of creation represents the beauty of the stars on a clear night and the inspiring feeling that staring at the galaxy gives: how grand the universe is, how amazing it is that we have the ability to love, think, and reason, how small our problems really are in the grand scheme of reality, the idea that there may be a purpose much greater than ourselves, and that somehow we could be a part of this grand purpose. Gravitational Effects is about the parallel between the physical properties of science and creation and how we are also all physically and mentally attracted to certain people. The music speaks to the deep connection that is possible between humans and how we should all respect each other to form a more loving, peaceful, strong, and lasting community. Crate Digging on Planet Omnom is about a dream and a hope... Traveling through the universe in a nice space cruiser with your niks - stopping by planet Omnom (aka Gary's place) for some dope new records, a hike in the alien mountains, a dip in some hot springs, and then topping the trip off with some space dancing around a neon green campfire.
