Pascal Pinkert aka Dollkraut is a unique specimen in today's world of clean and sterile music production.

Emotional Relish welcome in their second EP of 2013 with some solo work from Scott Fraser after a previous collaboration with Headman and Nitzer Ebb vocalist Douglas McCarthy. The Light Sleeper EP pairs two trademark Fraser cuts with remixes from the aforementioned Relish boss and fellow Weatherall acolyte Timothy J Fairplay. A drab bassline wades "Paraphase Mine" into the murkier exclaves of synthy territory, allowing Headman to lighten the mood by adding some tonal difference in his mix. Fraser sets his arpeggios to flutter and bounce in "Centreville Lapse" with marching snares set to a Severed Heads styled reverb. Fairplay does away with the tracks nosier components, demystifying Fraser's original for a warmer, eat petting remix.

Revivra is back on GAMM with two seriously well produced re-edits (or remixes) on the soulful boogie tip.

Just like last time this is just not some quick 5 min fixes but hand crafted reworks that takes the original tracks to the next level with loads of added live elements.
The a-side's take on Midways "Set It Out" is so good it almost makes the original sounds like the remix. With a beautiful live string intro it explodes into a proper boogie winner that easily could have been produced by any of the big producers from late 70s.

On the flip Revivra goes back to his deep love for Marvin with +11 min excursion of "Mercy Mercy Me". Epic is an understatement!

Love, Murder, Passion...in the heat of the night what is unresolved comes to the fore.
After our maiden voyage into the unknown last spring, on our continuing expedition we find ourselves entering into the fantastical world of a bedroom jockey with a sublimely over active imagination.
First on the A-side is 'Heat Crime' a dreamy half reverie that unfurled itself near the end of a late night session. Through misty intimations it gradually took shape, stirring delight in its receptive translator. In the beginning it was an unformed mood but through toil and mishap it became music. It was underived, but its cousins and aunts are the forgotten and quietly enchanting soundtracks to Ms Marple, Hercule Poirot and their ilk, who drip mystery and beauty unannounced calling the heart to attention.
The second track on the A-side is 'Moon Letters' a crescent lit jazz nocturne, evoking visions of stormy seas on a far off globe, Two parts euphoria to one part melancholy, it is a highly composed piece of rave revival.
On the flip Peter plunges 'Heat Crime' into the paranoid depths of near psychosis, only to re-emerge with triumphant redemption. Take a little trip with us, Love, The KR-Family

Lewie Day - aka Tornado Wallace - ups the meteorological ante and turns in some laser-guided, ethno-hypno, eco-lectro jams for the eighth Beats In Space Records release.

The three tracks of Tornado Wallace's Desperate Pleasures EP sound like the work of a comfortable yet adventurous producer who isn't afraid to take a simple yet exotic theme and stride to the other side of the jungle.
According to Wallace, this is "music for darker times in warmer climes, for where there is sun there are shadows.'
What began as in-the-moment experiments with an assortment of old synths, drum machines, and dusty library records evolved into three super dapper, viscerally contaminated compositions, each one more zoned in / out than the next.

Drawing from 70s kraut, 80s post-punk, electro, and 90s house and trance, the ten plus years of producing / DJ experience that Wallace boasts allow for all of these elements to fuse together quite tastefully and strikingly at that.
Ultimately, these Tornado jams dodge genre conventions for a curious and compelling outcome.

Each 12 from Beats in Space Records features original artwork in considerate and serial form.
This 12 features the tropical creature comforts of Californian Steven Harrington and is pressed on tri-colored, Day-Glo splattered wax.

Wikipedia describes tapenade as 'little bits of shit chopped up small to spread on dry bread'. Technically speaking Tapenade 2 is a remix of a mash-up of bootleg disco edits, mixed in a blender in a kitchen in the back of a nightclub somewhere in The Hague. 'Ahh yes that's just what I'm looking for, let me have a listen...'!

The on going and much loved Balearic Gabba Edits series continues in the capable hands of Enzo Elia once more. Here he serves up three new edits of classic house and techno form the late 80s and early 90s in his usual unique style. These tracks might be 20 years old. But edited as sympathetically as they have been, they've never sounded better. The first track, Sueño Latino's 1989 hit Luxuria is, in the hands of Elia, a slow burning journey through buried beats and glassy melodies that grow ever more prominent as the track continues. The whole thing is backlit with an ethereal synth glow until some classic sounding house percussion bubbles out and really gets things going. It's hard to imagine a better way to start a set than with this. Next up, Next up, another Andrea Gemolotto's production, Q Base's Tango Beat was originally released in 1990. ..

latent disco perpetrators. It's loosely connected to Sleazy McQueen and his assorted cohorts.

Robot 84 return with 2 killer Balearic inspired re works

After his previous dancefloor corkers on Lovemonk and Kat records, Casbah 73 returns to the fray with four more servings of deep & funky boogie-house. 'If You're Leaving Part 1 & 2' starts off as a spacey downtempo delight, only to shift gears and morph towards that sweaty, intense area of the club where dislocated bodies rub up against each other and one-night stands are born. The powerful and stripped back house of 'Too Cool To Be Careless' keeps it funky, raw and, yes, cool, just below the 120 bpm, while the irresistible 'All Night Long' is meant for exactly that: grooving to that ultrafunkular bass line until dawn, and closing track 'I Want A Lot' adds some tasty disco to the equation to keep that fire burning!
Casbah 73 has had a busy year, whether it's delivering intense Detroit-influenced jams & twisted house originals or releasing some essential edits, stripping and rebuilding those disco & jazz bombs for dancefloor duties to great effect. His joints have been supported by names you can trust like Gilles Peterson, Jazzanova, Danny Krivit or Belle And Sebastian's Chris Geddes.

Lío en Río is the epilogue for Con Mi Tiempo Y El Progreso, Linda Mirada's sophomore album, a wonderful collection of summery disco-pop gems. Five of the album's songs are remixed for this E.P.

LA's Secret Circuit, fresh from his first album release in Tim Sweany's BIS label adds a tropical twist to Aire while New York's Phenomenal Handclap Band put their pyschedelic disco sorcery in Secundario. From this side of the pond, fellow Spanish producer Daniel Kyo prepares a Tour de Force with Dinamo and Barcelona's Sabore Bicoro takes Lío en Río to the Balearic territory. Finally Russian amigos Simple Symmetry (half of Pompeya, Moscow's electronic indie kings) take La Costa into an Italo Disco trip to full effect. This EP is definitely a joyful trip through delicate disco influenced pop.

Record Store Day is synonymous with exclusive and limited releases and this year is no different. Featuring our first volume in a series of re-edits from our Luv N'Haight catalog starting off with Mike James Kirkland. Nico Jaar's edit 'What My Last Girl Put Me Through' on his excellent 'Bluewave Edits' previously released by Wolf+Lamb Records is featured on the A-side with a deep rework of the classic 'What Have We Done' by prolific and talented producer 78 Edits on the flip.

Nico Jaar's highly sought after 'Bluewave Edits' release in 2011 contained some radical re-takes and treatments to tracks by Missy Elliot and The Blow but his re-vision of The Mike And The Censations track 'There's Nothing I Can Do About It' was arguably the highlight. Originally released as a 'promotion only' single, this release is an official collaboration between Wolf+Lamb and Ubiquity Records with a follow up edit of another Mike And The Censations track by Nico in the works to be released in the near future as Vol.2 of the Mike James Kirkland re-edit series.

UK producer Jamie Buchanan aka 78 Edits is a veteran in the 12' re-edit scene with releases on Giant Cuts, Audio Parallax, and Editorial. His take on Mike James Kirkland's 'What Have We Done' from the legendary 'Hang On In There' album transforms the original from a conga and vocal driven song to a stretched out, 8 minute, mid-tempo dance tune.

Every now and then, a record comes along...this is one of those occasions. BUT...it's not any old record; it's a new one. Specifically, the new 12Inch single from Sundown Drive, brought to you by Mind Fair and Rogue Cat Sounds. Moving on from the 'body and soul' that embodied their first trip, SD transcend you to the annals of deep clubland and melodically twist your heart strings with an early morning flutter and a tantric tension. The meandering-yet-purposeful piano finding its feet later in the proceedings this time, but rising to full effect, leaving only the dub to knock us sideways into a beautifully-simplistic dark alley of spring reverbs, synthesized prophecy and the voices in ya head telling you to 'give it up'.

What makes this trip an extra special journey, though, are the two wonderful reworks fresh from Scandinavian climes, courtesy of Mark Seven and his burgeoning Parkway project. The lo-fi mix nasties up the affair, as the title suggests, to a fine 'Captain Rapp-esque' snap, relying on dirty drums, a smattering of the keys and lush, haunting pads. Finally the Parkway dub is sure to do damage, simmering slowly with echo-beats, a loop of the piano chords, reversed cymbals, subtle strings...and all before he drops a killer b-line which then carries the groove from there forward, slowly unleashing more strings until eventually, and to perfect effect, letting go of the piano to round up a killer 12Inch.

Another fresh collection of house cuts from the LOVE REVOLUTION camp! JAMES JOHNSTON's "SICK AND TIRED" opens the EP with a sweet groove with bouncing chords & horn stabs and DJ NAV follows with the deep "EXPRESSION". MONTEL's "NOT ALONE" is a 90s dub-like vibe and "NU KONSTRUCTION" is a perfect tune!

All any DJ touching down in San Francisco needs is Nikola Baytala's number on speed dial. Whether you're a frequent visitor or a virgin to the West Coast city, it's imperative to call on him for an in-the-know tour of the City's finest spots. Apart from underground San Fran expeditions, Baytala's legacy comprises some of the most kinetic and dynamic club tracks ever released, an eclectic record collection so big it requires its own postcode and a vintage car and bike collection nicely referenced in the artwork for his first release on Pets Recordings. The 'Nikola Baytala' EP sees Baytala explore his far reaching influences with the help of Myles Egner (with label bosses, Catz 'N Dogz, and fellow San Franciscans, Pillow Talk, on remix duties.) Opening track, 'Zero $' carves out a chugging 4x4 beat that soon becomes overrun with dark and dischordant synth tones and a stripped back bass line that buzzes with reverb. This is house at its most ominous. Catz 'N Dogz drag the track back into the light for the remix, filling gaps with skippy and spirited drum lines, replacing moodiness with movement. 'Cityz Angels' presents groove driven house at its finest, as Baytala releases and silences a mirage of keys, synths and machine vox sounds in time with the kick drum to create a complex, yet satisfying dance floor mover. Pillow Talk instantly latch onto this stylish nonchalance for their 'Cityz Angels (MT's Pillow Talk remix)', bringing a freestyle jazz breakdown to their laidback, rhythmic rework. The 'Nikola Baytala EP' is Baytala's first release for a number of years and his skilled, non trend-pandering formula impresses yet again.

DISCOVERY Recordings is proud to release Coule'Ba by Analog Players Society, a collective melting pot of musicians lead by Amon. Coule'Ba draws from West African influences and features the incredible Missia Saran Diabate of Guinea on lead vocals. Shortly after the release was lined up, the studio and surrounding areas endured Hurricane Sandy. With the Red Hook Initiative, Amon and his family began helping out wherever they could. When power finally returned and the debris was cleared, it seemed only appropriate that the record should benefit the organization that did so much for Red Hook during that time. All profits benefit the Red Hook Initiative.

This latest release on Craig Bratley's ever-essential Magic Feet is a 10' which features two remixes of tracks from Femi Kuti's album 'Day by Day' which have never been released on vinyl before.
The remixes were commissioned as part of a unique creative collaboration between Mercer Street / Downtown Records and the Santa Monica-based public radio station KCRW.
And were originally featured on a limited edition compilation CD that was only available as a membership premium during KCRW's bi-annual pledge drive to raise funds to support the station's programming.
Liza Richardson's remix of 'Eh Oh' first came to Craig Bratley's attention when Sean Johnston featured it on his Beats In Space mix. (The engineer on the remix, Jake Davies, was previously Sean's partner in The Hardway Bros). With Magic Feet becoming established, Craig decided to license the track in order to make it available to vinyl lovers.
To complete the package we have Garth Trinidad's Fiyah Dubb of 'One Two', which has additional production by The Mad Scientist.

Mercury steps up next with a stripped-back, bass-driven version of Jonas Rathsman's Tobago - the original mix of which was initially licensed to Chris Malinchak's French Express label. Rounding things off is Forrest., and artist who shot to notoriety on labels including Noir Music, Souvenir and Gruuv. His inimitable production is characterised by its depth and warmth and Creep is a shining example of his skill.

Italian post rock and cosmic disco duo Crimea X have finished their second album, Another. It comes 2 years after their last effort, Prospective, and explores the same laidback yet spaced out sounds laced with intergalactic guitar riffs, wobbly pianos and skewed synth patterns that DJ Rocca (aka Lucca Roccatagliati, producer for Daniele Baldelli, Ajello and Dimitri From Paris's partner in the Erodiscotique project) and Jukka Reverberi (Giardini di Mirò) have championed since first getting together. In that time, the pair have become hugely admired cult figures in their respective worlds, pioneering sounds and garnering adoring support wherever they go. First singles from the album such as 'Yev' have already been doing the rounds, finding favour with musicos like Andrew Weatherall, Ivan Smagghe, Justin Robertson and Tim Sweeney, whilst the album itself was produced by Norwegian legend Bjorn Torske who spent 10 days in the studio with the duo before returning home to mix it in Bergen.

Emotional Relish sees Emotional Response team up with the Relish label overseeen by Headman to launch the limited Emotional Relish label with the first release helmed by Headman in cahoots with Scott Fraser and Douglas McCarthy of Nitzer Ebb fame. The title track has McCarthy suppling gurgly and anthemic vocals while Headman and Fraser drop cold basement beats, warbling synths and driving arpeggios. Of the three alternate mixes, the first comes from the Hardway Bros and their "Axis Forces dub", which powers home '90s new beat and EBM stylings, while Mexican producer Daniel Maloso puts emphasis on the the original arpeggio and breathy McCarthy vocals. The additional dub mix reduces the synth action and like Maloso, reworks the the Nizter Ebb's vocalist's yelps, making a great alternative club mix.
