Noamm is the electronic equivalent of a honed switchblade. With surgical precision the Bass Agenda alumnus incises keys, cuts chords, pierces percussion and razors through rhythms. For the second installment Rødhåd invited Dystopian member Alex.Do to his Berlin studio. Leuchtkraft is the second album from Frankfurt based multidisciplinary artist Daniel 'Flug 8' Herrmann. Returning to the banks of hardware with which he created the organic electronica of his critically acclaimed debut Trans Atlantik Herrmann's sound has evolved to a higher state. Now, untethered from drums, his floatation tank soundscapes soar to the heavens, buoyed on wave after shimmering wave of lush drone and cascading melody.

Translated as 'luminescence', the 10 tracks of Leuchtkraft smudge between moods; the delicate icicle chimes of Kristallpalast give way to the widescreen spacewalk of John Carpenter-esque Man High. Mittelwelle is an ominous descent of nervy creaks and distant distortion, whilst Sierra Charlie is a mirage of Eastern sun-baked drone.... But the album is best consumed as one long, unravelling drift, a sprawl trip through half remembered dreams and future fantasies.

A renowned musician and photographer, Herrmann has previously released music on Disko B and Smaul, collaborated with members of Einstürzende Neubauten, and art directed for both Roman Flugel's label Playhouse label, and the iconic Live at The Robert Johnson mix series. For Leuchkraft he has created a series of images ruminating on the notion of illumination, where light sources battle through stark contrasts of darkness. Whether this is a metaphor for our confused world, or a wider examination on the universality of light is entirely up to the audience to decide...

The latest transmission from the world of Gunnar Haslam, Kalaatsakia wildly sprawls across the intersections of techno and more abstract sounds to take us on a wideranging journey from the subterranean to the coastal, from blown-out dub tones through fractured rhythms. An incredible work that is not easy to pigeonhole, Kalaatsakia is a full length album that navigates and sketches landscapes where new languages are created from old, dead ones to emerge as the lingua franca of interconnected immersive zones.Haslam is an avid home listener of dub, dancehall and calypso, and that influence is quickly felt as Kalaatsakia launches with a tight electro snap and dubwise crash. Kalaatsakia advances and retreats seasonally, tightening up for the floor with the chrome-plated 'Broadcast' and 'Kjolle' while splintering apart on 'Kalapuyan' and 'nxbound'. Its constituent parts are often left to collapse in on themselves, smearing themes into residual trails. As the narrative of the album disintegrates and unfolds into more deconstructed territory, it stretches out even further with a striking skittering mental tease, settling into burbling sub-audible vocals and resonant spaces that all form a part of Haslam's self-created subconscious language.

Clear White-Coloured Vinyl - Techno don Reinier Zonneveld looks set for a massive hit with his latest track, which reworks the stunning melody made famous by PPK's 1998 smash 'Resurrection'.

Techno don Reinier Zonneveld looks set for a massive hit with his latest track, which reworks the stunning melody made famous by PPK’s 1998 smash ‘Resurrection’.

Zonneveld made his remix of the trance classic to play in his live sets, and it proved to be so popular that he felt it simply had to be released. He and his team set about trying to find the rightsholder of the original melody so that they could license it.

This journey led them not to PPK, but to the original composer: the now 82 year old Russian electronic music pioneer, Edward Artemiev. He wrote the melody for the soundtrack of a 1979 movie called ‘Siberiade’. Zonneveld wrote him a letter asking if he could grant him permission to release his take on the melody. Listening to Reinier’s new interpretation of ‘Resurrection’, Artemiev was immediately sold and approved it to release.

One of the earliest composers to adopt the synthesiser, Artemiev has a pioneering legacy that lives on through this new version that has been so skilfully crafted by Zonneveld.

Moving on to the track itself. Pummeling old skool hardcore techno kicks thump under filtered layers of bubbling synths as an ominous tone is set early on. The melodic elements tease in tense fashion as layers of hissing percussion build on top. Flashes of the distinctive riff are sparingly deployed. Then suddenly the swell comes, rising pads and dramatic synth riffs fuelling the fire as cymbal rides urge us forward. Snare rolls and acidic textures build the tension further before the rug is pulled from under us and we’re thrust into the dream-like sounds of that famous riff.

Sounding as enchanting and otherworldly as ever, these cute interweaving melodic lines soon transport you to another dimension. Filtered kick drums and heavily reverbed pad sounds interplay with percussive builds and rising acid tones, suggesting an explosive drop. Instead, the minimal approach is chosen, stripping the track down to its bare melodic basics and letting the famous hook shine. Further glorious melodic subtleties lift the track again and snare rolls push higher, but the track never reaches for excess and continues to tease throughout.

Drumcode has become a label synonymous with some of the most-cutting edge and forward-thinking techno over the last 20 years. Their artists include both emerging and established names, and one of those well recognised is Enrico Sangiuliano. Now announcing the very first concept album of his career.

iomorph is born. A very special concept album designed to take the listener on a journey of evolution. A musical adaptation describing how biological and technological advances over numerous generations of time have all started from the same first step in our own biological journey.

Divided into 4 parts, Organisms opens with atmospheric tones, gradually blending complex textures and timbres to begin the evolutional process. The beginning of this section combines full sounding arrangements before stripping it all back to basics. From here it dissolves into the atmosphere. Organisms then progresses into a break-beat influenced, down tempo track using synths to add complexity to the straight, broken rhythms.

Galactic, futuristic elements are found in both tracks in Cosmic Forces. Upbeat, groovy, electronic synths resonate, before 'Hidden T' brings the tension to get things pumped up with stratospheric swirls and twirls to lay down one of the most mind meltingly deep drops.

Metamorphosis is mysterious, its opening beat is a deep and piercing tone that sends the listener into a sensory awareness of their surroundings before breaking into a fully charged, techno track, with Enrico's trademark sounds and textures.

All evolution has an ending.

Two Probabilities shows the positive, starting out evocative and emotional, with a gentle harmony, gazing towards a 'New Dawn'. On the other side of the spectrum lies the negative. This is influenced with a rhythm that articulates the beat of death, mathematical, cold and metallic in texture, it shows the unsustainability of its nature, with a hectic, anxious break beat influenced ending.

For the first record of the new decade Outer Zone welcomes Modus’ triumphant return for this second part of his “Triple M” sequence.

Standing in direct contrast to the stasis much of modern life has been held in, this EP offers up an opportunity to vicariously enjoy a world, where the futuristic vistas that techno promised at its genesis seem present. Machinic cycles, looping escapism and understated funk are the axes in which this space is rendered, a space that for a moment allows us some respite from stillness.

The Ray Keith classic that everyone is familiar with carefully restored by the Music Preservation Society and remastered by Subvert Central Mastering. The original Digital Masters were full of tiny clicks from the piano samples used, which when removed, let that huge bass line shine. The end result is nothing short of amazing. Clear, loud and punchy without losing any of the original flava.

Kin-Ben LABEL's latest production definitely comes as a pinnacle of its catalogue. It includes deep, heavy, driven, hypnotic tracks by Unknown Thoughts, who is an unidentified producer, and an exceptional remix by Evigt Morker.

The 4th and final sampler taken from Swedish Silver Vol 2. Patrick Siech then steps up with the next track, 'Kill Room' that also uses atmospheric percussion and stabs to build into a funky drum groove. The final track by Cari Lekebusch called 'Xylopeggiator', conveys a dark, pounding 5 AM rhythm that uses vocal samples and a melodic synth to create a hypnotic drum pattern.

Bengoa's B2 Recordings returns with its third release this June, this time the inaugural release from newcomer Zaq, entitled 'Magic Silver' and backed with a remix from the label-head himself. B2 Recordings : ''Zaq is an analogue machine expert and upcoming bright new talent in the scene. Collecting analogue gear from the age of 15, Zaq's output has influences from dub to italo, early 80s and 90s drum machines, ambient, reggae and acid house - his debut on B2 recordings is a personal statement and the start of many great things that are about to follow from the young artist.'' 'Body Waves' leads on the release, a tripped out dub infused cut drive by evolving ethereal atmospheres, echoing synth stabs and off-kilter drums. On the flip, the original mix of 'Magic Silver' is up first, showcasing the acid house influences of the artist, blending together squelchy 303 licks with dub stab sequences and 808 drums. Bengoa's Club Reshape of Magic silver then rounds out the package and tips things into peak-time realms, fusing the original with a dynamic 909 drum workout and enchanting spoken word vocals.

Long-term Soma collaborator Tony Scott drops his debut album with the label under his Edit Select alias, the perfectly crafted experience, 'Cyclical Undulations'. Having released with Soma under his Percy X moniker for years and having countless hits under his belt, Scott reinvented himself as Edit Select. Known for his dark, expressive and expansive music, Edit Select has become once of the most well respected and renowned artists in the genre. With this latest full length, he continues to explore the furthest reaches of the Deep Techno spectrum.

The Cyclical Undulations journey begins with Insta Grain, a mesmeric odyssey of ebbing pads and sparse percussive elements that seem to drift of into the expanse. A perfect opener before the first foray into more 4x4 territory begins with Above Ground a pulsating affair before Two Step Phase, a more stripped back affair, reminiscent of earlier Percy X works in it's 90s heyday. Undulation, more propulsive in it's approach, melds warping synth hooks alongside spectral tones. Horizon#1 follows in a similar vein yet drift into slightly more hypnotic territory as recurrent tones lead the track. Scott flourishes with yet more machine-throb crafting Close Up & In The Beginning She Was, both stacked with subtle nuances of his stylised percussion lost across dream like states. The later half of the album has a distinct minimalistic approach yet seem to provide maximal output with every beat. Horizon#2 is dark and ominous yet still characterised by a tough percussive element. Contact, produced in collaboration with Claudio PRC, delves into more submerged sounds with heavy sub bass and echoed drums, finishing of with Towards The E; a shuffling broken beat affair with after hours vibes and an endearing ethereal quality.

Cyclical Undulations demonstrates a mature sense of production from Edit Select. An assured collection of material, each track providing a striking insight into a true artistic mind.

BRVTAL has started in 2018 and after several gigs and episodes of the podcasts series at last we arrived to kick off our dream project: the music label!

There was no question who would be on our first release, because we have been following their music since the beginning and we had a banger nights and great times with both of them at LARM and in Budapest. These awesome producers to whom we thank BVR001 are Niki Istrefi and Draugr!

Niki Istrefi is a rare precious star in the Danish techno scene, everyone can recognize his music in the first minute, this mindfulness, fast, harsh and tight sound with the essential melodies of melancholia. Niki is pretty determinant in BRVTAL's life, because we noticed him since his first release and it was obvious that we invited him to our first LARM's event!

Worldspawn gives the first push on his side of the vinyl. This catatonic sound is the enter to the darkness, what we can accept from the whole release. Blood Run is another step, much faster, much harder with an iconic spooky melody that will haunt us through our nightmares.

But we don't have to be afraid of Draugr either, he isn't joking at all. He became one of the unavoidable figures of Parisian techno over the years. It wasn't a surprise how he totally bombed the LARM to the delight of us and our audience in 2019. We fell in love for the first time when we heard XB71. This track is the real taste of Draugr's music, the uncompromising, tough sound with cruel hammering and flooding energy like an atomic bomb. Lastly we get to the final track of the vinyl that is dedicated to us, so the title is Brvtal. It's a great honor for us that this more galloping banger with killer dark melodies has the same name like our label and event series!

Planet Rhythm is steadily outing material these days. The next in the string of releases is a VA by Planet Rhythm usual suspects ''Robert S'' ''Deepbass'' ''Jamie Haus'' and ''Dubiosity''. 4 versatile Techno cuts that each showcase a different sound within the Techno spectrum.

After the very successful ABS 004 EP, Ruffneck Prime returns with the second installment of the so-called HEX series on the Absolete imprint.

The vinyl release features 4 tracks all with a different vibe.

The A1 made by Ruffneck Prime & STLTH focuses more on the trance side of the acid techno spectrum with a very hypnotic melody line with a twist here and there.

Ruffneck Prime also remixed one of his own (originally hardcore) tracks made under his DJ Ruffneck moniker. The gabber tune was carefully ported over to a hard techno version!

Then on the B1 side, we find a solid collaboration with Tresor resident Esther Duijn. Deep kicks combined with a raw acid line are keywords for this fine tune.

The B2 side truly shows the more dark side of Ruffneck Prime and his love for broken beats as this tune is dark, grimly, and aimed towards the pits!

"Icons of Destruction" shows Ruffneck Prime's love for artists like Headless horsemen, Ancient Methods and the likes.

All in all once again a VERY solid 12 Inch release!

Stanislav Tolkachev, oft lauded as one of the shining lights of the genre, debuts on Token with his unique take on contemporary Techno. The five track EP, titled There Is No Cure, highlights the producer's infamously idiosyncratic style, showcasing his ability as an artist to draw in disparate moods to his work whilst maintaining a powerful sense of cohesion.

Deconstructed opener Two Treats Right Now, instantly recognisable as Tolkachev's music, sets the tone for the record. A single, curiously disharmonious patch waxes & bends for just under three and a half minutes while off kilter rides and hat patterns are introduced (and occasionally removed) to add to the delicious cacophony, the result being a kind of sonic palette cleanser. Follow up Whole Life Order maintains that sense of reduction and disharmony, but places the listener firmly on the dance floor - heavily saturated, delayed kicks drive the work while a live lead sequence sits atop. To some degree A side closer Delayed Gratification does what it says on the tin, holding the listener in stasis - a perfectly executed bridge piece designed explicitly for DJ use.

If the A side of There Is Now Cure is characterised by a kind of brutish darkness, the B offers a lighter approach to Tolkachev's work. Title track There Is No Cure is nothing short of anthemic. Built around those same components so favoured by the Ukrainian - the driven kick drums and isolated, singular sequences, There Is No Cure is crisp and playful, communicating a palpable sense of hope, all the more compounded by what has come before. About Time, the EP closer, continues these thematic concerns, but appears gentler still in its articulation. Soft but still dense, and beautifully produced, it's a deeply moving piece of music built sparingly that ties up a fantastic first offering for Token.

After Sw. contributed heavily to Kimochi 13, 14, and 15, he's taken a little sabbatical to travel the world - releasing sounds for LOVEiT, R&S sublabel Apollo, Night Defined, Acido, and of course his homebase at SUED. Now, a triumphant return to Kimochi Sound for #44, where Sw. takes the opportunity to really spread his wings. From the instantly catchy UK garage stylings of inCOMPlete to 90s hrdcr supreme to the jazz-inflected percussion workout of rOAch rOAd 0.1 X-LOOSE to the industrial spatial noise exploration of herbperp, this is an auteur who dares you to name the genre.

The Story Itself

On the 12th of April 1961, Yuri Gagarin was launched into orbit for the first and - so they tell us - the last time. Upon returning to Earth, Yuri became a global hero, travelling the world to tell of his adventure.

Secretly, he was plagued by strange hallucinations and a persistent glow around his vision; a cornucopia of colour in a constant corona. In 1964 - following a silent coup by Leonid Brezhnev - Yuri was banned from embarking on further manned missions into space. At first fearing madness, the cosmonaut came to see these apparitions as a signal, an invitation, a welcoming beacon from a distant lighthouse blinking across the cosmic void.

On the 27th of March 1968, aided by trusted friends within the space program, Yuri Gagarin swapped places with another cosmonaut on a secret test flight and was once more blasted into outer space. Knocked unconscious by the extreme velocity of his experimental craft, Yuri awoke a mere 15 minutes later in view not of the rapidly shrinking Earth, but an entirely alien vista; he was elsewhere...

Tony Neptune is a multi-media persona created by the Leeds-based artist and producer Sam Jefferies who, inspired by the narrative and musical legacies of early Detroit techno culture, aims to tell a complete story for the senses through a combination of image, sound and text. Asa member of the DimensionsDJ Directory three years running, some know Jefferies for his notorious DJ sets—whether he’s playing new wave or booty bass; as Tony Neptune or Yuri; solo or alongside Mark ‘Turbo’ Turner in another peak time marathon b2b, it doesn’t take long for crowds to catch on to his deep knowledge of all things riddled with Hi-Tech Funk and Soul. But this isn’t the only storm he’s cooking up: in his visual work, Jefferies uses oil paint to unveil the surreal and celestial adventures of the original cosmonaut and space pioneer, Yuri Gagarin, capturing every aspect of their dream-like surroundings with an eye devoted to detail and depth. This painting lies at the heart of his debut EP, Reflections on a Daring

Forma by Lucy Railton, is a work that digs into us. It disorients us, plays with us, but without malice. It is like a nocturnal butterfly whose wings reflect a dark light, thus projecting fleeting hallucinations, which nevertheless persist on the surface of our retina. Its trajectories, too, are unpredictable. But such disorientation is not that of a chaotic space, it is rather a mysterious reason that presents itself to us, an imperious unfolding whose logic escapes us, but which nevertheless fascinates. It is also a history of shapes and their becomings. A story, also of their own vanishing.

Metabolist Meter (Foster, Cottin, Caetani and a Fly), by Max Eilbacher is a teeming piece, a matrix where textures and structures merge together, where the polyrhythmic instances become timbre, where the formal abstraction of the harmonic volutes coagulates around a vibrating form that is actualized in the dramatic reality of a dying fly. And this formal mastery is not disembodied in Max Eilbacher's work and the kaleidoscopic forms of the sound spectra that he has deployed know how to resonate in the sensations and experiences of each one.

These two pieces have this in common, but each with their own agenda, that they evolve with grace and inspiration in the vast domain of the sound world and it is a great pride for us to present them in this new collection.

Composed as a means to map the cultural translation between Chinese culture and European traditions, Piotr Kurek’s A Sacrifice Shall Be Made / All The Wicked Scenes is comprised of pieces composed between 2016 and 2018 specifically to accompany theatre performances directed by Tian Gebing (500m and The Decalogue) and Grzegorz Jarzyna (Two Swords). Kurek attended performance rehearsals in Beijing and Shanghai, with additional preparations and recording sessions taking place back in Warsaw.

While most of Kurek’s past work is unaccompanied by other musicians or outside help, A Sacrifice Shall Be Made / All The Wicked Scenes features various Polish and Chinese musicians both from classical and experimental scene (Barbara Kinga Majewska, Grzegorz Hardej, Łukasz Rychlicki and Hubert Zemler) as well as by actors of Paper Tiger Theatre Studio from Beijing. This approach of Kurek exploring new players and places is further juxtaposed as Kurek recycled samples from his own past, including various recordings with musicians he did throughout years, found sounds from the Internet, or cannibalised old solo work.

Recorded over the course of several years, this aural report of a monumental multi-disciplinary venture is in the end an enthralled and enthralling survey of a contemporary composer who is unencumbered by geographic or cultural boundaries. Concurrently, ditching any resemblance to local musical traditions and rearranging the compositions for all three performances, Kurek has formed an architecture that allows the phases of rituals to unfold while projecting social structure assumed in myth making. The regrouping of different moments in these stories is a curious way of narrating another myth — a synthetic, polyvalent story set in a city that strangely reassembles Beijing, Giza, and Prague at the same time.

Piotr Kurek is a Warsaw based musician and composer who straddles the world of electronic music taking inspiration from various genres but fitting comfortably in none. Through his unconventional use of a wide array of instruments both electronic and acoustic, he built a reputation for himself as a qualified inventor of hypnotic worlds drenched in uncanny arrangements.

Kurek has already released a range of idiosyncratic, forward-thinking works on a variety of imprints (including but not limited to Sangoplasmo, Black Sweat Records, Hands In The Dark, Dunno Recordings, Crónica, Foxy Digitalis) and participated in numerous music festivals including Unsound, CTM, OFF, TodaysArt and UH Fest as well as participating in extensive tours in Poland and abroad. In 2014 and 2015 he opened for Bonnie “Prince” Billy’s two European mini-tours. In 2016 he has been selected as a part of Shape platform for innovative music and audiovisual art from Europe.

"The Invention of The Human" is designed as a response to the question "what makes us human?" The question has become increasingly important in this period of history, in that many of the answers aren't good enough. "Civilisation" could be one answer; but what good is civilization where there is so much misery within it? "Progress" could be another; but what good is progress without kindness and empathy to sustain it? Taking the thought of man's relationship with technology as a measure of humanity, I asked the computer "what do you think a human sounds like?", and with that I built this album of synthesised vocals, wondering if technological development can help explain what we are.

Story
Relentless percussions, savage rhythms and mind-expanding glitches narrate the adventure of Quetzalcoatl, the Aztec feathered serpent deity of Wind and his mission to interrupt the silence on Earth with music. A long time ago music was yet a privilege of the Sun who was keeping all the musicians confined in its realm.
The evolving nature of the tracks symbolizes the journey of the Wind, who, helped by the waters, reaches the Sun s land. Disoriented and lost in the Sun s maze, he accepts the challenges that his adventure presents and endures a lengthy and demanding quest to find the music. The only way to get on the right path is by feeling the sound itself. By trusting it and following the air vibrations, he finally finds the courtyard where all the musicians are playing. Despite the Sun s crying and imploring the musicians not to go, Quetzalcoatl manages to bring them all down to Earth. With their arrival, the silence in the world is suddenly broken, while sounds and music sprout everywhere as animals and humans learn how to sing and play.

This story teaches us that through our perseverance and also by working with others - like the wind joins forces with the waters - we can change any condition and bring wonderful things even where they do not seem possible. It s up to each one of us to create the world we want. So abandon yourself and embrace the broken silence.

Second Circle returns with the follow up to Giuseppe Leonardi’s 2018 debut record ‘TBC’, with another singular EP from the young Austrian musician, titled ’MenteMente’. Recorded this year in Vienna, during the lockdown of the city, the title ‘MenteMente’ was derived from the Spanish word ‘Mente’ (meaning ‘Mind’) and refers to a meditative state developed during times of crisis, and the evolution this has brought to Giuseppe’s own musical process over the past months.

Reflecting an evolution in his musical output, the six tracks on ‘MenteMente’ incorporate a diverse mix of sounds and influences. The EP also includes collaborations with vocalist Fresh Princess, a young experimental dancer and vocalist from Ghana now based in Vienna. As well as spoken word from Georgian Art Theorist Lana Girkelidze who reads her favourite passages from Georgian poet Galaktion Tabidze’s poem ‘Qari qris’ - გალაკტიონ ტაბიძე-ქარი ქრის.

‘MenteMente’ will be accompanied by a series of digital visuals made by Carolina Rivera Arboleda, artist and student at the Vienna University of Applied Arts and a stop motion video installation by renowned Viennese street artist Olivier Hölzl.

Though the clubs and festivals shall remain closed for the foreseeable future, Kölsch has kept the beat alive with the release of four new tracks since the start of 2020. Thankfully he has not disappeared from the stage completely and has delivered a weekly flow of Sunday DJ sets from his studio to yours via Facebook. In true Kölsch style he has as usual tested and played new demos and tracks in his sets hinting that there is more new music to come... And that day has arrived. The third instalment / double single makes a huge entry with “The Great Consumer”. This is one of the best rhythms you will hear this year. Especially given that it mingles playfully around Kölsch’s signature synth melody and even harps at some point! “Remind You” finds Kölsch embracing a soulful side to his music…the tune shimmers with a fundamentally Detroit House vibe - trumpets and vocals duet to a relentlessly catchy rhythm. This track is pure jam. Truly a welcome soundtrack to sunnier days.

Two miscreants of UK electronics have been drafted in by Shipwrec for a 12" of techno debauchery. Richard Bevan and Joshu Doherty, aka Posthuman, have been addicted to acid from their first contact with the caustic and cruel chords of the TB303. Since then the two cousins have gone on to curate 10 years of I Love Acid as well as doling out some toxic classics of their own. The duo deliver the soured goods once again, starting the audio anarchy with the ominously titled "Netflix and Kill". Drum patterns are gnarled and nasty in this slow burning jacker where basslines boil over into a thick syrup of late night revelry. The flip is taken over by the bullying sounds of "The Damocles Syndicate." The track rumbles with venomous menace. Coils of 303 spite bulge and contract under the strict resolve of a stern beat in this ready made floor filler. Two helpings from two malevolent masters of the silver box.

Ribé joins Boddika’s Nonplus Records imprint with his debut modular techno album entitled ‘Tested Signal LP’.

Longstanding analogue enthusiast, producer and live performer Ribé is no stranger to the world of reduced and perfected techno having racked up countless hours amongst the cables and steel crates of his sound-producing machines. With previous releases on Non Series, Ex Aequo, PoleGroup’s sub-label AINE and with upcoming cuts on Warm Up and Token, alongside regularly appearing amongst Madrid’s club circuit, all play a vital part to fueling his credible and growing catalogue.

The Spanish artist now delivers an ensnaring collection, that reflects the modular performer’s current output, on his first album - a project encompassing fifteen-tracks - which places focus on dark warehouse and machine-like sounds that engulf rhythm.

‘Overture’ opens with distant chords and a sparse atmosphere that is jarred by occasional glitches, both ‘Tested Signal’ and Ribé & Boddika’s collaborative cut ‘Fusion’ follow with sparking analogue qualities and buried sub-frequencies. Next, ‘Variables’ has a digital language to it with binary-like beats and bleeps until UK-based and Mote Evolver producer Shifted then follows with layering in a dubbed rhythm and intricate percussion ideal for early hour sessions.

‘Flux’ elevates the energy with its reverberating synth while tracks such as ‘Entropy’ and ‘Vacuum’ lean more towards cantering techno patterns alongside the disjointed and broken drums of ‘The Certainty of uncertain’, ‘Sub rosa’ and ‘Symmetry axis’. Finally, ‘Rhetoric’ then fluctuates with minimalist-style programming before ‘Quantic Drone’ hauntingly dissipates into a vast aural space, ‘Pulses’ then subtlety rattles with otherworldly sequences until ‘Prototype’ concludes with its tonal rich hits and chattering cymbals.

Documents” is a project that has coalesced around the music venue Acephale in Cologne, oriented towards putting out various works in various formats and forms and related in various ways to music. The first of these is a release of a 12" compilation that features music by Frank West, Future Transfer, Keshavara, Tulips, Robert Bergman, and Montel Palmer. The various musicians involved are all in one way or another connected to Acephale - as residents, guests and friends.

The different strains of music - house, improvised electronics, motoric synth jams, ambient and more, serve as a snapshot of the sorts of sounds that one might hear at the venue.

To accompany the release of the record a number of live events are taking place over the course of several months on Sundays at Acephale.

In our 4th EP release from OMEN Recordings, we bring you 'DETOX', written and produced by Russian artist, DRAAG, an amazing discovery with unique and astonishing style. To complement the release, we added remixes by our very own signature artists: Berlin-based, AYARCANA, and AXKAN from Los Angeles.

DRAAG begins the title track, Detox (A1), with hard 4X4 kicks, and glitchy, metallic snares that drive momentum and groove. Listen carefully and unsettling vocals and frightening screams begin to creep about, intermingling with a potent synth lead. By Mouth (A2) is cut from the same burial cloth, as it were - rich, dark melodies underlie powerful, kick-driven rhythms as a storm of noise washes through, punctuated by quick, attacking hats. Simultaneously sumptuous and unnerving. The digital format features a bonus original track entitled Acidosis, which sets out with steady kicks complemented by dark textures that enhance the main acid synth lead. The result is sure to make movement mandatory for any crowd.



AYARCANA's merciless remix of Detox (B1) starts out ready to destroy all in its path - we predict this full-bodied track will become a new favorite of industrial techno fans in short order. AXKAN's remix of Acidosis (B2) unapologetically declares dominance through heavy breakbeat kick patterns, icy screams, and a razor wire acid bass line that slices through the track, this EP draws you in.

Five years after his critically acclaimed debut album Throwback, Glenn Astro returns with his deeply personal album Homespun.

Marking a change in course from his first release on Tartelet Records, Glenn Astro is set to showcase his sophomore album Homespun, a testament to a visionary artist who has come into his own. Made up of ten tracks spanning 45 minutes, the record twists and turns between electronic meditations, soulful vocals by Ajnascnet, and futuristic electro, carving out a world of spacey eclecticism that is as nostalgic as it is experimental.

“This album is in all facets different from the first one, which was a deliberate decision. No vintage sounds and references, no sampling, combined with futuristic sound design and song structures.I tried to keep it as current and intuitive as possible,” he says.

Known for his chunky beats and fuzzy textures, Glenn Astro has released on labels such as Ninja Tune and Apollo, leaving a distinctive signature on everything he touches.

But Glenn Astro has quietly been crafting a new sound for himself. Sometimes taking detours – morphing into his dark alter ego and experimenting with artist collaborations.

The sound of Homespun is a culmination of several years of reflection and artistic development – however, the album itself was produced in less than three months. “I set myself an ultimatum to finish the album within three months. If I didn’t make it, I’d
have to rethink my career path and keep music as a hobby, he says.

On the introspective first single and album title track “Homespun,” Ajnascent’s vocals lend a sincerity to the melancholic production. “It’s about the regret of not taking chances and giving in too much, but also about taking responsibility and being honest with yourself. Homespun is a nod to nostalgia and a desire for simplicity and prudence, being equally the culprit and the cure,” elaborates Ajnascent.

On “The Yancey,” an homage to J Dilla, Glenn Astro paints his vision of contemporary dance music with shimmering melodies, deep ambient soundscapes, and advanced drum programming. “Moreira” and “Look at You” feel like spaced-out electronic funk hybrids, while “Taking Care of Business” goes back to the future with Glenn Astro’s take on jungle. Other tracks such as “Mezzanine,” “Slow Poke Flange,” and “Viktor’s Meditation” provide the finest dubby electronics.

For this latest entry into the LFRMX-catalogue Len Faki has chosen two synth-driven tracks of anthemic proportions. Paul Ritch is no stranger to Drumcode and has returned with an outstanding single featuring three tracks that will dominate DJ sets. The first track 'Run Baby Run' entertains us with an arpeggiated chord sequence that is accompanied by percussion-like synth sounds before bursting into a thick-layered sequence of sound. The dark and dubby side of the single see's Paul's 'Astral' bring a funky sleazed out groovy track that also uses a discerning melody. 'Mind Insistence' is a dark 5am groove that will keep the dance floor swaying in the early hours with it's tripped out feel and syncopated percussion.

"When Alexander (Boddika) got in touch asking for some new fresh music I knew it was a really important step for me. Nonplus is a stable reference label in the Techno scene and it was a unique opportunity. I thought the open minded philosophy of the label would help me a lot and I could create more experimental works.I decided to produce the tracks in almost one take... turned on the synths and looked for the perfect range and character of sounds and spent some weeks recording it, finishing with some edits before the final mixing.The final results were more than expected. Harmonic Rain, the Ep main's track has a really special groove, with a main melody which is transposed and slightly altering it gives me a good feeling.The Ep feels to me like a complete journey itself. With peak time tracks, and more experimental and "warm up" music. Loops but not loops.
In summary, I'm really happy with this release and with the beginning of this musical relationship with Boddika and the Nonplus team."

Consisting of Dennis White, Charlie May, and Dave Gardner, Quiet Places is a new project by the UK producers focusing on vivid and wide-screen journeys. Between the three, their production roots go deep into some of electronic music's most important outputs of the last few decades. Be it performing live as part of Sasha's recent Refracted shows, their own individual projects such as Spooky, Sentre and Cosmonauts or remixing the likes of M83, The XX, Thom Yorke, Little Dragon or Elizabeth Fraser, they are no strangers to electronica.

Swedish producer Shielding lands on Facta and K-LONE’s Wisdom Teeth imprint with an extended collection of hazy dub techno, drone and downtempo. With previous releases on Kimochi and Leif’s UntilMyHeartStops imprint (as Okänd Konstnär), ‘Collecting Seaweed’ is the artist’s fullest body of work to date, comprising six tracks cherrypicked from a vast set of recordings produced over the last two years. The record’s pulse recalls Basic Channel and the clicks-n-cuts of Jan Jelinek and SND, but its textures are loose and painterly. Looping, pulsating textures sprawl out to create rejuvenating, emotive soundscapes. Patterns repeat, but no two strokes are the same.

Adriana Lopez's Grey Report returns again with a four-track EP signed by rising artists Temudo & Norbak. With previous releases on labels such as Soma, Modularz or Warm Up, to name a few, in this occasion the Portuguese producers join forces to show their distinctive way of combining textures with dynamic percussive components. We are going to release a bunch of compilations with doom bands from Heavy Psych Sounds roster featuring some of the heaviest bands of the world doom scene. Each volume will host two bands. Bart Skils returns to Drumcode with his third solo release, 'Shadowprint'. Consisting of Bart's famous rolling drums and bass rhythms he has crafted an EP that is exceptionally functional. With each track Bart has added character by introducing vocals, interesting melodies and deep percussion to keep it interesting.

The EP is made up of 3 peak time tracks that are eloquently put together. 'My Part Of Town' is a bit deeper from Bart and contrast's well to the rest of the EP with it's melodic bass line.
