The first release on Standards & Practices since the widely acclaimed remixes of Talker's 'Battle Standards' EP (by Surgeon / Regis / Broken English Club) from late last year, 'Live From Frankfurter Strasse' represents the first recorded collaborative effort from Jonathan Krohn (Stave, also 1/2 of Talker) and Jan Grebenstein (Downwards, Horo).

The twitchy, pared-to-the-bone opener 'Alfa' is at once vast and frighteningly claustrophobic, recalling the brutal, clinical precision of Mika Vainio & Ilpo Vaisanen's output, with a brilliantly tricky arrangement that continually pulls the rug out from under the listener - it's vertigo-inducing twists and turns are simultaneously disorienting and endlessly hypnotic. On the flip, the brooding, scorched-earth 'Stirn' & 'Verstarkerstufe' work at a much slower tempo, uncurling like a plume of smoke with a spacious, cerebral quality that occasionally brings to mind early Gescom.

Perhaps CPU's deepest foray into techno, Osaka-based artist Yuri Urano's 'Autline' E.P. draws parallels with the machine-like incremental builds of Sweet Exorcist / Richard H Kirk.

Plenty of variation with minimal down-tempo through to fierce industrial techno.

Urano's industrial sound is gaining a lot of attention in the Japanese techno scene and this E.P. will only galvanise her reputation.

Vincent returns to Omnidisc with his second installment. You Wear A Human Mask But You Have No Human Soul is a dark house inspired driver paired with a Slave to your image which Drvg's more experimental side. Then he closes out the EP with his classic sound in Something Happening Somewhere.

The second release on Oktave Records is produced by Tokyo's Iori. The multi-talented Japanese producer and DJ has had his music released on some of the best labels in the business, including Prologue, Field Records, and Semantica. Iori's inimitable and distinctive sound has put his productions on turntables and headsets all over the world, while the man himself continues to extend his touring radius, hitting clubs and venues all over Europe and into the Americas. Oktave Records is proud to present his 'Circulate' EP.

The A side gives us 'Satellite,' a relentless floor-focused track, bursting with Iori's signature, looping sound he draws us into a hypnotic void and allows the listener to get completely lost in the polyrhythms so deftly layered on top of each other. 'Satellite' will mesmerize your dance floor.

The B side opens with 'Vortex,' which gives us more of that special Iori hypnosis, but this time we're carried along by a broken beat. Complex, understated and rhythmic, 'Vortex' is another stunner. The EP closes with 'Inversion,' an ambient track, which is an area of strength for Iori. He has long been producing compelling, cinematic soundscapes with his unique sound signature, and 'Inversion' continues in this tradition.

Iori has created a knock-out EP with 'Circulate,' and sets the bar quite high for the label.

»sichten« refers both to »opinions« as well as the »examination of material«. in lose sequence, we will invite friends and colleagues, but especially music lovers to share their opinions on music with us or to look through their collected materials in order to present music that tends to be out of the focus of current media channels. as a label for electronic music our focus is on examining exactly this genre. but in the context of the series, we are rather looking for more hidden, unknown, perhaps forgotten music. we want to present the yet undiscovered, and also offer a platform for other cultural environments with different musical approaches. each issue will be supervised and compiled by a curator. an introductory text shall explain the ar- tistic approach of the respective curator. in this sense, the format of a double lp can only provide a first insight and wants to invite to a more in-depth research. for the first issue of the series, »sichten 1«, we asked frank bretschneider to compile his own, very personal selection of current electronic music. his choice fell on six artists, whose different styles me- ander between accessible music on the one hand and very abstract compositions on the other hand.

Evod Music is glad to welcome Binny and Dj Surgeles on its limited catalogue. The English dancefloor killer and the Dutch sci-fi master fused perfectly together on this split EP. Organic by Binny is a perfect tool, thanks to its mesmerizing acid sequence, masterfully fused with powerful drum patterns and hypnotic drone raids. Missing Link is another killer tool, perfect for a dance floor full of people. Its old school sound and the various changes make this track a must have. The B side is managed by Dj Surgeles, with three outstanding sci-fi tracks. Science Fiction contains a randomic, spaced out sequence blended with heavy drums and various drum patterns variations. Commander Pete is the most Millsesque track: in this piece there is a real space ambience, thanks to a its far pads, the electronic ringings and bleep sounds incursions that create a constant suspense, broken by the interruption from an astronaut radio message. The EP is closed by Message To Earth, an ambient outro that fits perfectly with all the other tracks.

Dutch producer and live act Conforce is back with 'Autonomous', a fifth artist album and the latest in his long relationship with Delsin Records. Conforce is Boris Bunnik, a producer who explores the deepest realms of dub, house, techno and electro under many different names. His Conforce alias is where his most club orientated material comes from and this new nine track album finds the Transcendent label boss producing dark syntheses inspired by his hometown and harbour city, Rotterdam, and its automated industries. A masterfully conceptual album that really paints a vivid picture of a harbour as heard from deep down in the depths.

After all he hasn't stopped yet, rather, he has started to discover the dark side of club music and converted his own sound into electro. The result of this new beginning was the 12-inch 'Death of a Star' on Pinkman in 2016.Now 'ODD EP' is the next level: much deeper into the darkness.'Arabian Nights', as the title suggests, is an electro-orientalist-exoticism, like an ancient dangerous night in the desert. However, from the second track, we are in the future: in cold dark space. 'Outer Delta Dynamics' is the launch rocket, followed by 'Celestial Bodies', which is a cruel and desperate fight in time and space.Imre Kiss has started with dreamy lo-fi sounds on Farbwechsel, then he improved his music in house and techno on the next two EPs on Lobster Theremin. But the banger remix 'Crisis '91' is a pretty new thing in his music. This cool jungle rework perfectly matches the whole atmosphere of 'DD005', even if the style is somehow different.The last curiosity of this EP is that all of the tracks were born in Szemlohegy, which was actually a coincidence (or maybe fate). Four years after his excellent Eclipse 12", Roberto Auser is back on a Rotterdam staple: Pinkman. Color Your Soul has adopted some, but not all, of its older brother's attributes. Lumbering with menacing intent, the title piece leaves wreckage in its bruising wake. "Do You Want To Believe" is cut from the same deviant cloth. Grunting rhythms stomp on tortured strings, industrial shrieks cry beneath the boot of a raging beat. The closer, "Wake U Up", has Auser toying with his victim. Steam hisses, acid lines bulge, pistons pound and sirens blare in this boiled work of brooding brutality.

Jude Greenaway joins Analogical Force with 'E.OneSeven EP'. Some might already know ScanOne from past releases on Combat Recordings and Yellow Machines. Intricate breakbeat treatments with crisp electronica melodic edits, twisted future hardcore and London-bred basslines...the sound of ScanOne in 2018. On the b-side the Conner brothers reappear after a long silence as Bitstream, to twist 'Re-Turn' into the darker dystopian side. Fans of solid underground music take note.

For the next installment on Darko Esser's Balans imprint the Dutch producer Tetelepta brings his slick, laidback tech house vibe to the label with 'Waiting For The Flash' EP. 'Waiting' opens the EP gently with a crisp, hypnotic groove and half way it turns into a beast of a tune sure to move any dancefloor. On the flipside 'Flash' opts for a more tribal sound, with a dreamlike, slow burning melody that builds up to a trippy frenetic rhythm.

International Deejay Gigolo Records presents its second remix package from the single "I Want U" of label boss DJ Hell. The original get´s a new twist with the reinterpretation of Darren Emerson. His own view on the track has a high intense energy and a pumping upfront attitude. French techno head The Hacker reworks his own remix and gives it a dark & playful 2018 facelift.

The first release for both the label and Elon in 2018, it shows promise of good times and tracks ahead.

The EP opens with 'Stoner' and its undulating synths. Before long, clapping snares and the kick join in. Almost without warning, the track drops into a head-down, out-on-the-floor groove that gets the dance moving down through your whole body. Scrambled vocal samples land on top with an ascending bassline below, taking the track into yet another new phase.

'Where Is My Shit' comes next, with a ticking drum machine and a deep rumbling bass getting things started. Crackling synth comes in on top as the track rises and falls, maintaining an almost motorik feel. The EP closes with 'Skipping Stones'. The track opens with rapid fire hi-hats and a probing, revolving bassline. Elusive keys join in on top, painting fragmented melodies across the musical landscape. The steady house beat pumps away constantly beneath it all.

Razor sharp cuts from Levon

Going back to 1999 with Sara Bernett's legendary 7 release - Little Grey Machines we've just unearthed from the archives of the formerly Cologne-based underground label XXC3 . Catering two fascinating analogue tracks Sara Bernett explores the grey area somewhere in between Electro, B-boy Breaks, dry, experimental BigBeat and the ultimate Phonk for all those DJ's willing to take a their crowds to a next level of dancefloor madness.

Arguably one of the most prolific techno labels in Croatia at the moment is off-springing their fourth release packed with four great artists.

Out of Place is welcoming French wizard François X, UK's protagonist JoeFarr, diverse Croatian producer Disrupted Project and co-founder of the OOP label - Volster.

The next carefully assembled Delsin re-issue EP is four tracks of slick electro from VC-118A aka Samuel van Dijk, who also released on Delta Funktionen's Radio Matrix and the Clone affiliated Frustrated Funk label. This EP was originally released on AC Records in 2015, strictly limited and only sold by the label itself. All four cuts are electro of the highest order: opener 'Vaxna' is a mid tempo, atmospheric piece that places you in the middle of a desolate futuristic landscape, while 'Sepia' is a more rueful track that encourages your mind to wander amongst its thoughtful pads and sombre chords. It's timeless and tender machine music that's followed up by 25h, which has an astral feel. Beautifully smeared pads and a nimble bassline cast you free deep in the cosmos. The EP closes in style with 'Versicolor', an emotive electro jam with clever arrangements and immerse sounds.

This is the return of the collaborative project 'VOFA', by Sawf and ANFS, on Pi Electronics. The Athens based duo, that put out the label's debut release, deliver another 4-tracker of their signature sound for the 5th Pi record. PI05.1 is a bass line oriented composition of thrilling beauty, while PI05.2 and PI05.4 provide different takes on the main PI05 theme: one leaning closer to UK breaks' influences and the other closer to industrial, hard hitting broken beats. Pi05.3 offers a driving tool of distorted realities and tuning bass lines. All tracks showcase further focus on sound texture and dynamics' balance, providing a perfect blend of Sawf and ANFS in joint forces as VOFA.

Alan Fitzpatrick is one of the men of the moment speaking of all things techno! Since his first steps into the arena in 2008 he turned into one of the most wanted producers around. His releases on labels like 'Quartz", 'My Favorite Robot' and especially on 'Drumcode' brought him on par with the first line of international techno producers and DJs. So we are more than happy that the man who rocked 2013 xxl will be the featured artist of our next release on Cocoon Recordings. His tracks 'Memories Of A Time Once Past But Long Forgotten' and 'Truant' are two real techno highlights that follow the basic vibe of the his last releases. Deep emotional techno full of warm chords and analogue basslines merged with cool beats to get that special Fitzpatrick vibe. Music for dancefloors and living rooms at the same time, charismatic and dynamic! Alan Fitzpatrick is not just another name to be watched. He found his style and shows this in every track and in every of his DJ-sets that he played over the last months in Europe, North America, South America and Asia. He also started a new residency at London cult club 'Jaded' every sunday morning and we are sure you will soon hear his Cocoon release there, too!

Seine Debüt 12' für Ostgut Ton startet mit - The 4th Verdict' und zeigt eine klare Richtung. Die hämmernden Beats im Kleid des Sägezahns oszillieren den Sound des Stücks nahezu perfekt. Die sanfte Dramaturgie des Pads und der spätere Ausstieg der gebrochenen Beats im Break ergänzen den Rest. Mit - Ghostes' geht die Ansage weiter. Ein Klang, der seinesgleichen sucht. Die mystische Stimmung, durch Kombination der Drums mit den träumerischen Synthis, lässt den Namen ideal geeignet erscheinen. Fast unglaublich wie alles in perfekter Konjunktion miteinander schwimmt. Der Abschluss der Breathe EP lässt paradoxerweise keinen platz mehr zum Atmen. Der Titeltrack startet mit dem mächtigen Synth, der sich wie eine schraube durch das Lied zieht. Trance lässt vom Soundcharakter grüßen. Erst wenn die Beats aussetzen darf man Luft holen.

Conrad Van Orton debuts on Attic Music for the 15th installment of label. 'Hypersomnia' is a collection of haunting techno tracks that sit on the darker side of the genre's spectrum without loosing it's dance floor appeal.

The 4 track spanning record opens up with the title track ''Hypersomnia'' though techno sounds that revolve around a train-like whistle that repeats throughout the track's poignantbuild. ''Green Eyes'' is an intrusive piece of work that closes down the A-side with it's intense synth works.
On the B side we find ''Iteration''. This growling piece of music has an almost live sounding quality to it. ''Ending Point'' is the toughest piece of work of the record which revolves around a fierce bass sound and a potent drum work.

Charlois welcomes back label inaugurator Dollkraut, this time in company with De Ambassade. The label grants permission for them to share this 10" and create their own world, so they can coexist and share stories about lost love, condolence and isolation. On the A side they come together in a dark room anthem about sex, lust and worship. It oozes with cold, heart-stabbing melancholia, yet carries the artists idiosyncratic warm and crunchy sound. The flip side scratches open the wounds left by the first song and sees Dollkraut drop his soft touch. What follows is a hypnotic voodoo track, summoning dark spirits with unsettling synths, shamanic vocals and tribal jewish harp.

There was a time when to die was something slightly different from what it is today. Back in the last days of the middle age, some hidden monk was concerned about how to die properly, according to the catholic standarts of that era, so he wrote a book that was a cornerstone in that period.
This has been the leitmotiv and ispiration in the concept that drives this album, the Ars Moriendi book from 1415, a book that gave some clues about how to die properly, avoiding lack of faith, despair, impatience, avarice or spiritual pride, all those actually track titles in this compendium.

Album starts with Impatience a short atmospheric drone sets the path to post industrial mayhem, based on a continuous and obsessive metallic sequence that drives the angst over a dirty rhythm workout until the textures go on top after several bars.

Rules of behaviour breaks the beat into metallic hits as starting point, then more percussive layers add to the main beat until the dark pads take over mixing hate with beauty on a grey canvas.
Despair return to adrenaline, icreasing the tempo, running unstoppable on a relentless sequence with skeleton beats as a driver.
Speculum acts as a sequel from the first track, same sequence different rhythm, extending the anxiety feeling but with a cleaner groove, again a few elements make everything run smoothly no fillers, just tension.
Lack of faith keeps on with the beat as fundamental component, based on a cemented kick and breathing components that grow during the running time.
Avarice returns to harsh kicks and martial sincopation having distortion as the main element until Fm percussions shine on top.
Spiritual Pride is the adrenaline shot in this album, obessive dry sequences, harsh kicks and razor hats in a direct floor burner.
Closing the travel, The search for identity goes underwater: cavernous landscapes and absence of brightness with a pulsating sub frequency doing the low end, while drones and obscure sound design make the rest.

Mood 24 brings you the first in a limited vinyl only series in the form of "Mood Series". Each track has its own story to tell from artists SILAT BEKSI, GORBANI, HERCK, LEPARENTE. "Secret Circle" from Silat Beksi has a very minimal feel, simplistic drums, repetitive groove combined with spacey atmospheric pads and synths. Gorbani's track "The Jaw" is more drum and percussion oriented with subtle fx shots and and groovy sub bass. Hercks "Gura Sada" is very atmospheric, lots of organic noises. But its that main synth that gets you moving which the entire track is built around. "Flashback" from Leparente is deep and groovy, pieced together with a wicked bassline and main synth/pad that you can feel in your soul. Ears open, this is just the beginning.....

SØS Gunver Ryberg, Aïsha Devi, Rrose and Paula Temple are the four artists collaborating for Decon/Recon #2. The new record will be released as limited edition vinyl and digital on 16 January 2017 on Noise Manifesto. In this collaboration series, each artist has produced a track from all the artists' sounds, yet the release credits all four artists equally on all four tracks. It is a symbolic act for reducing hierarchy, ego attachment in identity, preferring instead to shift the focus towards affinity. Paula Temple describes the bond in this second collaboration as "Every artist in this release approaches their creative energy particularly connected towards a more shamanistic mindset. When you listen to the progression of their music, it feels like the physical and mental realms we accept as reality and function within are being stripped away. Maybe that is weird to say about underground dance music, but I find the journeys each of these artists take you on are very exciting in how they affect you.

With a brimming catalogue of music that operates in the more adventurous quarters of the techno music genre, A Sagittariun preps his first release of 2018, with a remix disc of one the Holy Grail of tracks from one of the most endearing electronic acts of the 1990s. The Sabres Of Paradise, AKA Andrew Weatherall, Gary Burns and Jagz Kooner, released a clutch of acclaimed albums, singles and remixes between the years 1992 and 1995, when the trio disbanded. Three albums for Warp, remixes of The Future Sound Of London, Leftfield & Lydon, Bjork, New Order and The Dust Brothers (AKA Chemical Brothers), and not forgetting the now legendary 'Smokebelch II' single, which must have soundtracked hundreds of thousands of sunsets and chillout after hours over the years, have left a huge treasure trove of a catalogue as part of their legacy. One production though has gone down in Sabres folklore, since its release was limited to inclusion on one multi artist compilation CD album only, and it is this track, 'Lick Wid Nit Wit', that A Sagittariun has unearthed, licensed and re-moulded, 25 years after it was produced, for release on his Elastic Dreams label.

For the third release on Intergraded, we welcome Tracey to the label. Having cut his teeth as a DJ and producer in Amsterdam over the last 15 years his sound has developed into something both classic and futuristic. Across the 'Outcome' EP he follows on from his two excellent EP's on 'Voyage Direct', with four tracks that traverse from electro, sci fi soundscapes and trippy club rhythms that fit perfectly into the sound of the label.

Iceland's Volruptus returns to Bjarki's bbbbbb with five esoteric cuts titled 'Alien Agenda'.

Releasing on bbbbbb at the end of last year, Volruptus has emerged swiftly on the European party scene, with the Icelandic artist popping up on line-ups all over the continent. Following releases by Norway's EOD and fellow Icelandic talent, Lord Pusswhip, 'Alien Agenda' is bbbbbb's third record of the year - continuing Bjarki's progressive tastes for innovative electronic Scandinavian artists.

First up, 'svi´nasti´a 3000' deploys a synthetic, fast-pitched techno revolver fused with space- induced, twisted modulations. A scratch tool titled 'Itchy and Scratchy Show' follows before launching into 'Su´rmatur' - a celestial 303 synth line layered over scattered electro drums, together providing a magical transcendental experience.

'Alien Agenda' is suitably an eccentric, IDM tinged number with shades of acid and powerful bass shrills becoming the focus here. Last up, 'Misanthropgy (Dark Sto¨ff)' provides an energetic rolling percussive loop, intensifying naturally through cryptic, high-pitched melodies.

The second outing from Yaleesa Hall in this two-piece EP series on Will & Ink. The 13th release on the label packs a visceral punch across four fresh tracks that are perfect for dance floor deployment. First track Daisy Wright kicks off with minimal but impactful drum rhythms that eventually get cut up with tumbling sirens, hammering hits and blasts of dirty noise. It's hugely physical stuff, while follow up Barbara Adams is more stripped back and mysterious.

Icy hi hats tick, howling synths sound bring a sadness and the depth of stern field as sounds play out above, below and all around you is truly standout. Harriet Brown then sinks into a deeper electro groove with spangled bass, before a VIP MIX then slows things down to a dread fuelled dub wise swagger that eventually breaks out into oscillating, stuttering rave madness.
It makes for one hell of a thrilling ride and kicks off a promising year for both Yaleesa Hall and the Will & Ink label.

Ahu's debut album from 2017, 'Nord Dream', was something of an overlooked gem from that year, but its musical palette of dubwise techno and ambient sounds caught the ears and enthusiasm of many. Danny Clancy was one such admirer, and in turn brings Ahu's sophisticated sounds to his Dichotomy Records label for the 'Atlas' EP.

Collating three tracks of pure and untethered house and techno, the 'Atlas' EP shifts tempos and moods with ease, from the celestial rhythms of 'Skyway', the pipe dreams of 'Mpale' to the 909 swing and the seraphic pads of 'Searching'.

Following releases that have featured the likes of Charlotte de Witte, Oliver Deutschmann and Cari Lekebusch, the labels new release from Polish artist DEAS is another Techno stomper,
with dark atmosphere and a dancefloor focus.
This is the second release by DEAS on OFF Recordings, and he has released on a number of other labels ranging from Pan-Pot's Second State to Kevin Sanderson's KMS Records. Also
playing regular gigs in Poland and across Europe, the talented DEAS is fast becoming one of Techno's most exciting breakthrough artists.

DEAS lists influences such as Dubfire, Plastikman and Robert Hood but in his own words is never a subject to stereotypes and clichés', which allows him to think freely and create music
without boundaries.

First on the release is Mentality' which centres round a rolling groove with forward momentum,
and a sonar effect that creates a vast and spacious sound. The lead synth has a hint of
euphoria which contrasts nicely with the juddering bass stabs that shake the track's foundation.
The second track Monotheism' has a pulsating bassline and distorted kick drum that pounds
relentlessly underneath the delicate dreamscape of the lead synths melody. The hard
undertones and sort layers combine with finesse, and make this a distinctly mesmerising slice of
dancefloor focused Techno.
Third is Paranoia' and its synthesised tom drums rich with white noise and intense drama
which merge with the cosmic pads of epic proportion. With a grinding bass sound and stabbing
synth rhythm, the tracks eerie atmosphere paints pictures of alien worlds and dystopian landscapes.

Last on the EP is Kamikaze' which has a paranoid vocal sample and unnerving melody that blended with the uptempo groove, give the track a ferocious energy. With an abrupt start and
ending, this is take no prisoners Techno that gets straight down to business, and will not disappoint when played in a club setting.

Circle Of Live is a brand new, live act only event series concept and record label curated by Sebastian Mullaert to honour the values of spontaneity and improvisation.

For the inaugural release on the new Circle Of Live imprint, Sebastian Mullaert presents a joint EP with long time collaborator Eitan Reiter. The duo previously met on the 2014 album 'Reflections of Nothingness', (Mule Musiq) borne out of a week long jam spent together at Sebastian's tranquil Ro¨sta°nga studio. Following the album's release, they arranged two live shows at Ozora festival in Hungary.

For the first year the collaboration was mostly based on Sebastian's music with Eitan adding jams on top. For the second year, Eitan felt inspired to set up a more improvised live set, enabling a more spontaneous performance. Then, unexpectedly, Sebastian lost all his gear on the flight and the live show took a completely different turn. This time, the show relied more on Eitan's music, with Sebastian jamming on top. Eitan had prepared simple sketches to jam around, similar to the way in which Sebastian plays. One of the sketches, "Loop for Today", later became one song on Eitan's album called 'Give it Life'. Eitan asked Sebastian to remix this song.

Sebastian accepted the remix invitation with the request to continue honoring improvisation and creativity, but instead of a normal remix it became an adventure out to the Dead Sea after Sebastian's gig at the Block Festival 2017. Eitan invited Ben Kirschenbaum to take care of the cameras and two more friends to carry gear and PA. As a result, the remix is an on the spot jam out in the desert ... one take while the sun is going down. No time to think or plan, only the option to surrender to the situation and let creativity run its course. This is the ethos of Circle of Live in general, regardless of whether the expression is happening on stage or in the studio. Let it happen! Let it Be! Feel it.

Back in the dense Swedish woodland, Sebastian made two more remixes under his Wa Wu We moniker. For the 'Live In The Woods' remix he restructures the expansive synthwork of the original in enclosed surroundings, whilst the 'Live By The Clouds' interpretation looks upwards for a disorienting, dubbed out trip.

'The main intention with Circle of Live is to inspire people to improvise; let their life be an improvisation; a spontaneous expression of life. In one perspective this is a concept with clear visions and definitions but at the same time the core aim of the project is to allow both us, the artists, and the audience to drop concepts and habitual patterns in the creative process of dance and music.'

Ellen Allien prepares to release her first ever solo EP outside of her BPitch Control imprint and has chosen a label she avidly admires, Boddika's Nonplus.

As a DJ, producer, BPitch Control label founder and organiser of the regular 'We Are Not Alone' parties in the city and elsewhere, Ellen Allien was not only there when the techno sound of Berlin was moulded in the basements of squats all over the capital but continues to be a tireless advocate of all aspects of this culture more than ever, as indicated also by her international Vinylism event series.

'Take A Stand', her debut release for Boddika's Nonplus Records, is as much informed by all those experiences as it is by the relentless hope and passion that have driven Ellen Allien ever since she stepped up to the decks of the infamous Fischlabor in the early 90s. 'Take A Stand' is a three-part statement about (and for) the here and now.

"My own history and experiences in the Techno scene inspired me to motivate people to stand up for what they think, for their opinions and rights. A lot of people say that Techno isn't political, but why not It can be political of course." - Ellen Allien.

The title track is both a thundering call to action and a love letter to the unifying power of rave culture. While its lyrics may seem vague at first "take a stand for or against what" they unravel their mystery while the track unfolds gradually. Starting off as a sparse basement banger, 'Take A Stand' slowly escalates into an acidic anthem before subtly changing its course once more towards the end. Over the course of ten and a half minutes, Ellen Allien revives the cheerful optimism of the original techno revolution while positioning herself against the joylessness inherent to so much techno these days. This is a revolution you can dance to.

On the b-side, 'Trigger' takes us into an equally hypnotising trip down the wormhole of contemporary rave culture. Combining a hard-hitting groove with a muffled, bouncing acid bassline, it will have basements and big rooms alike dripping with sweat.
On 'Flying Objects', Ellen Allien uses her voice once more, this time to round off what could just well be the official musical manifesto for what she usually refers to "space techno" - a colourful, futurist statement that leaves no ass unshaken.

A1. sees the return of Forward Strategy Group, with their track Pet a Burning Dog. It's hard not to think 'Sandwell District' when first laying ear on this minimalistic beauty. Bleeps, screeches and haunting synth-work with some outstanding rhythm laying underneath. Following on A2 we have Unbalance picking up the pace with his track Hard Solutions; a track very true to its name. Atmospheric, yet with a healthy dose of punch.

Kicking off his favourite position on the record, on B1 we've got Dutch techno legend Dimi Angélis. He produced a self-proclaimed 'Acid Bomb' which goes by the name of Tarazed. We dare you not to dance when this one hits the floor. Closing off the EP is Liverpool based artist Binny, who produced the wobbly-banger Relax. Proper techno from a man of whom you'd expect this kind of sound.

Nordra is the solo project of composer, programmer, and activist Monika Khot, who is also half of the avant noise/prog duo Zen Mother. As Nordra, Khot uses guitar, trumpet, voice, synthesizers, and other electronic and acoustic instruments to craft exploratory, inquisitive music that is both cerebral and soulful, combining post-industrial elements with musique concrète and gently melodic ambience.

PYLON II is an original score composed for an immersive performance choreographed by Coleman Pester for the 9e2 festival of technologically-driven art. This multimedia piece uses architectural design and live surveillance feeds to probe the dynamic relationship between observation and consent. Nordra's riveting score captures perfectly the tension between the vulnerability of embodiment and the dystopian apathy of the technological gaze, subtly raising questions about control and complicity through the lens of its own deftly manipulated simulacrum.

Texas-based electronic music producer Phillip Washington aka Cygnus was on bit of a hiatus since his phenomenal "Cosmos" long play on Fundamental Records, released near the end of 2016. With this EP, titled "ne0 ge0", he's breaking the silence and we're extremely happy to see it happening through Barba imprint. The record consists of 4 cuts; "Zone Shifting", "Vertexing", "ne0-ge0" and "Astronoot" which all share common qualities of his previous work - deep, spacey, richly textured and really well crafted. "Zone Shifting" is what electro in 2018 should sound like. Deep, emotional and futuristic but well grounded in the human condition through the vocal line which seems to haunt from the distance. "Vertexing" is a slightly more paced, moodier affair with slow enveloping Vangelis-esque synth lines bleeding all over traditional electro sounding beat. However, in this case that's exactly what's needed. Title track, "ne0-ge0" is the first one on the flip side and the busiest one. Creasing of multiple synth lines and pads is done in such an expertly elegant manner that you just can't resist but play it loud on a big soundsystem and see what it does to the dancefloor. And finally, record closes with "Astronoot", and as B2 tracks usually are - it's the deepest of them all, reserved for those heady moments when you need something to bring the magic to the next level.

Having showcased his more experimental on-edge techno design with his first two ASTRAY releases, Discrete Circuit's 'Control Zero EP' marks his most straightforward installment yet. The title track gets down to business without detours by growing into a powerful drum avalanche that combines bone-dry kicks with a frenetic atmosphere - point-blank: peak-time techno for the dance floor. Ed Davenport completes the A-side with a remix from his DJ and production alter ego Inland, who adds more muscle to the lower frequencies in order to retell a darker tale unfolding a cutting groove. Although both tracks on the flip pick up the pace and intensity, they venture out into less dense, more emotional directions. The title of this first release - a reference to the date of the G20 summit in Hamburg last year - represents a period of instability for both the nightclub and Faerber, who is a booker and resident DJ there. Ongoing heavy police presence outside its front doors resulted in a lack of visitors; so much so that the future of the venue became uncertain. Despite a series of obstacles linked to the highly controversial political summit, PAL continued to throw parties, eventually reaching a point of stability through sheer dedication and a focus on experimental bookings. Lithuanian based label Sodai started its journey in 2016, making it a label still in it's infancy but making a big impression. Blackfilm, who continues to remain anonymous, is a Hungarian artist that was first introduced to us through his self-titled debut on the now defunct Spectraliquid Records. Since then, the album has been picked up by Denovali Records and repressed in 2010 on compact disc and vinyl. His dark atmospheric soundscapes and a bricolage of modern classical samples and instrumental hip-hop beats reminded me of my favorite works by Amon Tobin and Future Sound of London, for a brooding soundtrack enveloping your mind with heavy fog of penetrating sound. During the transitional period in which Coil's primary leadership, Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson and John Balance, reorganized their creative direction by taking on new membership in the group through their inclusion of Drew McDowall, Coil took a drastic turn towards the metaphysical unknown.Employing the subtle handiwork of Coil's'real life'members, as well as the cleverlyguised aliases and spiritual collaborators, the band chose to filter their identity through a the nome de guerre, Black Light District,setting the precedent of Coil's future exploration of other worldy influence.

Recorded during the Winter of 1995/96, Black Light District reflects more on their formal avant-garde pursuits and academic interests rather than their industrial pedigree resume. Starting off with an obvious nod to John Cage with their introductory 'Unprepared Piano', the tone is prepared in exactly the same way... unpredictable. Conceptually abstract, Black Light District shows Coil's old guard disregarding the pop rhythms found on previous albums, such as Love Secret Domain,and fully embracing their experimental electronic trajectory. Subtle patterns of looping melancholy and malaise are placed delicately underneath ghostly electronic timbre. Approaching their creative method as something from the beyond, another realm in which sounds blur and performers seemingly appear from the ether.

Since 2016 we've been blessed with Mike Cooper in our catalog. The first installment was 'New Kiribati', revisiting a self-released 1999 CDR in which Mike Cooper was experimenting with a lap steel, electronics, prepared guitar and live recordings, creating what he called 'Ambient Exotica Soundscapes'. In the following year, 'Reluctant Swimmer' showed an enigmatic, exotic and elegant adventure into Mike's 1920s National tri-plate lap steel guitar and his Vietnamese electric lap steel. Two pieces, two sides, each ending with beautiful interpretations of some Mike's favourite songs, 'Movies Is Magic' by Van Dyke Parks and Fred Neil's 'Dolphins'.

2018 and it's time for some new discoveries into Mike Cooper's limitless exploration in his collection of guitars. The title itself, 'Tropical Gothic' references Cooper's beloved areas of 'the South' with a Gothic, dark, remote interplay... ''Tropical Gothic includes, but is by no means limited to, a reflection on a region where European colonial powers fought intensively against indigenous populations and against each other for control of land and resources.''

In each side Mike Cooper studies different approaches to his method of uniting guitar and field recordings into a constant stream of sound, where he delivers chaos and melody - not necessarily in that order. Side A is composed of shorter pieces. Each of them offers a myriad of images and sensations, between the enigmatic and terror ('The Pit'), joy, happiness and freedom ('Running Naked') or pure contemplation ('Onibaba').

'Onibaba' runs as a fitting introduction to Side B and its 18th minute magical piece 'Lelong & Gods Of Bali'. A mix of ambient exotica music, silent film soundtrack and distorted rhythms that dance around Mike's guitar. It keeps reinventing and transforming itself throughout those eighteen minutes, summing up the dexterity and muscle of Mike Cooper's music of the last two decades.

What you'll hear isn't quite techno, house, disco, or dub, but a syrupy melange of all of the above — and then some. It's dance music for those who don't fit in — and for DJs who regard genre as a suggestion, not a rule.

For more than twenty years, Solar has been a mainstay of the San Francisco Bay Area's rave scene, hosting world-class DJs in parks, on boats, and amongst redwood trees as part of Sunset Sound System; these days, he can be found DJing all over the globe. Squirrels On Film 01 features his debut solo productions, including "Five Seconds," long a mainstay in his DJ sets. Full of rollicking hi-hats, thick basslines, and ghastly chimes, it sounds like a lost gem from 1988 — but it's unmistakably contemporary, primed to ignite dancefloors worldwide. Afterwards, "Depth Charge" goes all-in on the hazy afterhours vibe as dubbed-out drums drift to and fro beneath a darkly melodic wash of synthesizers.

On the flipside comes C.L.A.W.S., a longtime San Franciscan who moonlights as the drummer for synthy post-punk trio BRONZE.
