Matuss takes techno and turns it on its head. The cybernetic sound has been filled with human emotion, giving it a more organic feel than much of the music that would fall under the genre.She opens her Absence Seizure 007 EP in trademark style, with a dark jacking cut entitled Pitchureque, in which a pulsating bass line throbs alongside ominous acid swells and disorientating panning effects.Next up, Tektango takes a different route honing in on a set of live tribal tinged percussion, which sway and dissipate with hypnotic effect driven further into the depths with a bubbling synth lead and filtering atmospherics. This live percussion gives the track that organic feel mentioned earlier. Escapade kick starts the B-side with a robust rhythm, built from the ground up with resonant hi hat stabs, echoing claps and sturdy kicks which forms the framework for a deranged lead melody laced with wide open synths and emotive chords to carry the groove. Closing the package is Fonque, where flanger-tinged snare rolls work in unison with driving rhythms, delicate arpeggios and an intricate 303 bass line to create an infectious closing cut.

For his second EP as solo producer, Melokolektiv reveals three original bangers, with the first two exploring his techno side and the final track swinging more towards tech house.

Aptly entitled, the opening track Petrichor' evokes a rainy atmosphere by way of an acid infused zippy lead. With a steady, neutral groove, the track doesn't take the spotlight, but just seems to prepare the listener for the following offering. Despite popping up second in line, title track Virgo' is definitely the centerpiece of the release. With a full on submersed groove, stripped production and heavy bassline, its hypnotic groove is engaging while the punchy kicks lock it down.

Instilling a dystopian atmosphere by layering grave and ascending synths, Second Fall' is a tightly wound up piece. The tension slowly subdues after the breakdown but the overall mood remains compact, revealing an undulating percussion. All in all, a step into production maturity and an upturn from the French soundshaper.

For our 10th release we have one of our in-house artists, XPANSUL, delivering his first solo release on vinyl in a long time. Three tracks completed by two "digital only" bonus tracks.

On BENTHOS, Xpansul takes his distinctive Techno sound to the next level, exploring new ways whilst digging deep into his roots, resulting in an exciting and mature sound.

The drums are rougher, the grooves dirtier and the main dish, the synths, are carefully designed to express the emotions that inspired these tracks: restlessness and claustrophobia on BLUE VERTIGO, melancholy on OXYGEN TOXICITY, euphoria and anger on BLACKOUT and the burden of impatience on THE BENDS. To close the EP, OXYGEN TOXICITY HELIOX MIX, a dj friendly version of the original that results on a very emotional peak time Techno track.

The last and eighth release in this series opens up with Christian Wunsch's remix of "Ex Machina" on the A-side - which is all hypnotic bounce, roaring chords, cutting through the irrepressible groove.
Mørbeck's remix of "Ghost Town" on A2 is an atmospheric but tough interpretation of the original, kicking hard with jackhammered drums, coupled with metal scraping metal sounds and a simplicity that makes it a handy tool to build great tension on the dance-floor. The B-side kicks off with Jonas Kopps's remix of "Miscellaneous Pt. 1" - creatively pairing the heavy rolling 909 drums with a classic four-on-the-floor clap pattern and topped with the eroded drones of the original track. B2 is a re-mastered version of the utterly timeless and epic club hit "1969" by the mastermind Christian Morgenstern himself.

Dreiklang Records set sail in February 2016 with the excellent First Contact EP which featured OCH, Hydergine and Kelovolt, three singular artists each handing in their own contrasting take on the same source material. The Berlin-based vinyl-only label now returns with the same concept for the Loop Continue EP. For their second release Dreiklang call upon three strong figures of the techno scene, each displaying a highly distinct voice in keeping with the triangular concept of the label: Scottish veteran Edit Select and Italian purveyors of everything dark and deep, Dino Sabatini and Claudio PRC. The three tracker kicks off with the deep sub-aquatic sounds of Tony Scott aka Edit Select, who produces the original version of Loop Continue, an introspective DJ tool. The Scottish producer goes straight to the point from the very start with a dusky loop that is slowly overcome by a glistening, luxuriant drone. Claudio PRC hands in a stunning rework. A hypnotizing bass drives the track forward while tranquil chords ease in and out of focus. Finally, Dino Sabatini, a regular collaborator of Edit Select, drops in fresh from the release of his Omonimo LP. The Outis Music boss closes the EP on a dreamy piece of broken-beat where beautiful glowing drones command attention. Loop Continue is set for vinyl-only release June 14th on Dreiklang. The records will come as a 180g vinyl with handmade covers by Nils Atland, limited to 500 pieces.

This album contains four tracks, based on visceral techno oriented dance floor, with knowledge about analog synthesizers, FM synthesis, and 909 processed drums. Popping up for the first time on Figure SPC Y, it was the remarkable synth-work of UBX127 that instantly struck a chord with the label's demand for substantial techno. Now the Stockholm artist proves himself loyal and hits back twofold with a pair of EPs that further highlight his mastery of both vivid modulation and effective sequencing. Leading into this batch of new tunes are the crafty and beautifully fleshed-out synth-arpeggios of opener Han, which UBX127 complements gracefully by adding tender touches of melody. A2 cut Create and Destroy displays a new side to the producer that verges on the manic, building upon a swirling theme that soon flies into a lunatic frenzy. Soothing then are the spacious sounds of Barabrus, a crisp piece of floating breakbeats and shoving sub-bass. Living up to its name, Swells starts as a bold synth-led groove and slowly grows into a romping beast that rebels against glistening sonic whiplashes. Even in its own right Constant Permutation Part 1 stands as a cohesive and compelling record that will add to any collection. But with its equally strong successor already waiting in the wings, it is Ubx127 himself who will make a lasting impression.

Nyctophilia is the love of moody darkness and this concept is weaved into this super deep and atmospheric techno EP by Dorian Gray, where he keeps a strong focus on meticulous ambient loops moving into hypnotic techno rhythms.

In their most furious release to date, Blank Code presents the Strumpet EP. Kicking off with the distorted dirty stomp of the Original Mix, Drumcell and Material Object let loose this dark gem that thunders forth the forgotten language of noise. Crowned with explosive hi hats, Strumpet seems to tear through any speaker it touches.

The brooding Drumcell 'Desolate remix' begins with a paranoid modular synth line looping over a crisp kick drum that hits on every other beat, slowly obscured by hovering atmospheres. As the track progresses, the grotesque snarl from the original mix growls along at a slow pace as the main synth loop perpetually modulates, occasionally usurped by distorted guitar like wails.

Material Object's "Remix" gradually constructs the static smeared framework ex nihilo, building from a warm and empty beat into a screaming fistfight banger. By contrast, Brendon Moeller's "Echologist Trick" enters with a patiently subdued broken beat that struts a certain swagger with its crushing low bass. The track sulks along with a seductive deepness, occasionally flaring out with the artists' signature use of echoing delay and reverb.

Roots In Heaven is a Berlin-based act that could very easily capitalize on his past accomplishments within the world of intrepid electronic music. As a label owner, resident DJ at cutting-edge clubs, and accomplished solo artist behind a number of conceptually unique full-length albums, the conceiver of this project won't likely need any introduction to the intrepid fans of electronic music. As an extension of this artist's already solid commitment to deep sound, Roots in Heaven represents a new voyage without the help of biographical cues to his listeners: hidden behind an evocative mesh mask lined with obsidian feathers, Roots in Heaven ignores the need to provide 'social proof' or self-justification. He communicates purely through the language of concentrated sensory impression, for which reason he has titled his debut, 'Petites Madeleines,' after one of the most memorable descriptive sequences in literary history (the famous meditation on the madeleine from Proust's À la recherche du temps perdu). Built on a chassis of pure analog electronics, unaided by computers, 'Petites Madeleines' presents a single sprawling track whose immersive, meditative quality initiates participants into a realm of reversed energy currents. Using a sonic technique which, for example, drapes the listener in darkness until it becomes light (and vice versa), this piece provides a pervasive feeling of other realities opening up that complement the already familiar. The looped pulses and frequency sweeps hover and expand with all the assuredness of, say, early-'70s Cluster, but without anything consciously 'retro' or overtly referential in their presentation.

Steve Parker from the beautiful Portuguese city of Oporto makes his debut on Aussie outfit Android Muziq with one of his personal faves to date "Thea EP".

Know for a unique and distinctive style, Steve Parker's biggest musical achievements, remotes back to 2009, when 'Mexilhao' topped the Beatport charts with an outstanding 3rd place on Techno 100, and in 2012 with Escuro EP being number 1 on Beatport Techno releases.

With previous releases on quality labels like Josh Wink's Ovum Recordings, Dubfire's Sci+Tec, or Sven Vath's legendary Cocoon Recordings, he always keeps pushing things better and better, and once again proves his talents with this new release consisting of three quality deep and hypnotic techno cuts Thea, Rhea, and Rod.

Berlin's own Marco Haas aka T.RAUMSCHMIERE made an irreparable impression globally in the 00's as a sawtoothed, ANTI-rave radical thanks to his immense stage antics and larger-than-life releases on Novamute. Since then, Haas has established himself as a contemporary with emotive, dark ambient tales on his own imprints Shitkatapult/Albumlabel.
KOMPAKT's love affair with Haas goes back to our earliest days. Some of his first tracks were released on KOMPAKT in the form of two raw EP's entitled "Bolzplatz" (KOM021 - 2000) and "Musick" (KOM037 2001). These two formative releases elevated the "Schaffel" sound to raw and shameless places we never could have imagined. The results set a tidal wave in motion that to this day remains one of KOMPAKT's most infamous legacies.
In an off-chance reunion with Haas in his studio, we learnt about what he'd been doing since the "Monstertruckdriver" days. It turned out he's been ever so busy outside of the mainstream working with the likes of Dieter Meier of Yello, Caspar Brötzmann, Andreas Dorau, Fraktus, Ofrin or Barbara Morgenstern and his recent work with Ulli Bomans aka Schieres under the SHRUBBN!! monicker.

On the way out, he passed over his 2015 self-titled album - which proceeded to blow our minds. It was mutually decided that it's time for him to return home.
May 19, 2017, will see KOMPAKT releasing T.RAUMSCHMIERE's new, epic solo full-length HEIMAT. It presents another side of his work which was always there, but never got that much airtime: the artist, the author, the composer with the crystal-clear sound. HEIMAT is a stunning techno album that neither excludes Ambient, nor gets reduced to constant ass kicking. It's perhaps the best recording so far from this man who asks so deeply, so extensively, so much. And at some point even answers.

Not Tripping: Started out as a bootleg version of It's Love (tripping) by Goldtrix, but evolved into a deeply driving track using the hypnotising chord stab as it's backbone.
Stone Circle: Richard Long is built around a contact microphone recording of a flagpole blowing in a gale in Iceland. Organic techno.
Saving Bacon: Saving Bacon is a stomping housy techno groove, with a melody that brings lightness to the pulsating beat.
Talos Principle: Talos Principle was developed out of an atmospheric interlude for Aggborough's liveshow. A staggering groove with quirky sounds and fills popping up unexpectedly.


Just like the previous OTB record, 88888 designed an art stamp that will be used to produce the vinyl sleeves by hand, making each piece unique.

Rekids introduces a new vinyl only series titled Rekids Special Projects. A more techno orientated division of the label that will feature appearances from the likes of John Hester, Markus Suckut, and DJ Deep amongst others.

First up is Ohio-based producer FBK, real name Kevin M. Kennedy, who has a career spanning three decades and after a seminal release on Frictional Recordings back in the 90's recent releases have seen him appear on labels such as Marcel Dettmann Records, Barba Records and diametric.

Intricate drums and jagged synths initiate 'You Are Not Fixed' whilst a looped sample recurs throughout the mix. 'Dynamonium' then enters deeper territories as echoing stabs join a low slung meandering groove before 'Set It Free' ups the energy with rumbling kicks, distorted vocal murmurs and tantalizing melodies. 'The Final Escape' then closes the release with a syncopated drum arrangement, mesmerising chords and ethereal atmospherics.

After releasing two 12's for Lee Gamble's fledging UIQ label, Latvian artist N1L flits to Where To Now to present four new compositions of smudged, innovative, and completely otherworldly bass mutation.

'Mud Diver' begins with the aptly titled 'Chasing the Sun', at first holding all the intentions of aiming for a big room anthem - introducing itself with familiar melodic pads and focused, drop friendly peaks. Anyone who knows N1L's work though will understand that this settling for a straight forward approach is not his vibe... at drop point the anthemic nature absolutely plummets face first into the grit and accelerates away into layer upon layer of revving synth mayhem, transforming with grace into the complete polar opposite of its initial gambit.

Title track 'Mud Diver' takes us further down into the realms of machine trouble and its mechanised cyclical movements. Held together by the deepest of off beat kicks, we wade through this horrorscape of construction and collapse in search for light. This light comes in the form of 'Jaget Och Maskerna' where swathes of rapid-fire signals weave through the darkness and speed away towards the hopeful bloom, holding an escapist and otherworldly aura, a hallmark of much of N1L's work.

Submerged for 9 minutes 'Clockroach' takes us deeper and deeper down into the basin, where dubwise flutters of percussion and sparks from the breaks of rolling dread bubble around the vessel. Recalling the deepest moments of Raime, the tensest moments of Kode 9, and the most desolate moments of Demdike Stare, 'Clockroach' best embodies N1L's ability to respectfully reference a rich history of bass music, whilst injecting his own deeply experimental learnings and leanings at every turn.

Samuel Rohrer, the multi-faceted, forward-thinking percussio- nist and producer behind the arjunamusic label, the AMBIQ trio and a wealth of other musical projects, has set out on his own with a new full-length solo album Range of Regularity as a double EP set with a deceptive title if ever there was one: the sonic experience of this record is, in fact, a highly irregular one (and a highly welcome one at that). Constructed almost entirely upon electronically-treated recordings of acoustic in- strumentation, with a bare minimum of synthesizer voicing, RoR vibrates with a compelling organicism - as if old-growth Black Forest trees had conspired together to make an album of ultra-modern improvisational music. Indeed, the record feels limned with contributions from some 'other' intelligence, despite being a clear extension of the fluid, percussion-driven musical technique that Rohrer has exhibited in previous years.
Opening with the track 'Microcosmism,' the sound-forest feeling immediately takes effect, and the listener can either enjoying navigating a path through this verdant total environ- ment or just being lost in it. Sonic organisms fly in and out of your headspace here at different speeds and bring with them all kinds of different dispositions, though Rohrer's reliable propulsive rhythms are always there to help direct traffic. 'Le- nina' does not abandon this unique aesthetic, but reprises the story with a different vocabulary (in this case, deep synth-bass signals, piano runs and all sorts of hyper-real ventilations). 'Nimbus,' not at all an ambient cloudscape like the title might suggest, temporarily dials back the feeling of modular assem- blage that powers the previous two pieces, and allows Rohrer's drumkit to come to the fore, working away at a determined snare-driven beat that brings a variety of treated sound ephe- mera out their hiding places.
After the gentle - but never too precious - interlude of 'Sun- clue,' 'War On Consciousness' emerges as the album's infec- tious tour de force. As the title implies, the feeling here is of using sound to fend off some sort of invasive energy, and the epic battle that ensues features a full concert's worth of tim- bral variations and audio events. Incisive rhythmic patterns slice away like finely honed blades at an insistent mechanical chattering, while cautiously walking acoustic bass adds an ex- tra layer of defense. 'Uncertain Grace' closes the set out with an extra layer of defense. 'Uncertain Grace' closes the set out with a busy multi-layered arpeggiation punctuated with bass drum hits, from which a melodic narrative gradually emerges like a distinctly human face rising from a field of visual noise. As the drums again join in, the final exclamation point is added to a very personal artistic statement. Though fans of adven- turous music will find similarities to other progenitors of rhythmic intelligence (classic Can, for example), Range of Regu- larity stands perfectly well on its own.

R&S welcomes back Space Dimension Controller's Jack Hamill for a EP of his trademark future-funk, his first for the label since 2013.
The EXOSTACK EP marks a welcome return from Hamill to the kind of astro-boogie that made him a unifying favourite in any discerning DJ's record box.
The title track is a masterclass of wide-eyed astral disco - cycling euphoric arpeggios underpinned by dubbed out bass riffs and swooning pads. Unfurling over a sizeable 8 minutes, Hamill justifies every second with a beguiling arrangement that takes the listener on a groove excursion of epic proportions.

Tobias Freund is long established as an influential artist and has - since the early 1990s - been working as a professional producer, sound engineer, label owner and strictly live musician. Besides his early solo projects (such as Pink Elln, Metazone or Phobia) he's also been collaborating with Dandy Jack (as Sieg Über Die Sonne), Ricardo Villalobos (as Odd Machine), Max Loderbauer (as NSI.), Valentina Berthelon (as Recent Arts) and Atom™ to only name a few. With his vast experience, diverse output and interests, Tobias. doesn't tire to actively push against existing boundaries and explore new areas of electronic music.
On Eyes In The Center Tobias. sticks to this mantra. The album, instead of following a stringent musical concept, channels a certain attitude and sovereignty fed by almost three decades of Tobias. expanding his skills in music production, in their entirety the 12 songs work as a raw, unpolished collage and evoke the spirit of (Post) Punk and the more experimental niches of electronic music. Think Chrome, Residents and Throbbing Gristle - but not Kraftwerk. While Eyes In The Center as a whole can't be pinned down to a certain mood or sound, there is an underlying concept in reference to the idea of autopoiesis, meaning 'self' and 'creation, production', a system which reproduces and maintains itself. Originating from the scientific fields of chemistry and biology, applied to machine music it's intriguing - what else is a sequenced loop: a flow, a rhythm that keeps rolling, maintains and reproduces itself. Spearheaded by Chilean philosopher and neuroscientist Francisco Varela the song 'Autopoiesis' uses Varela's own reflections on this topic.
On Eyes In The Center Tobias. expands his exploration of these ideas that already informed his work with Chilean visual artist Valentina Berthelon on their joint audio-visual project Recent Arts in 2016.
As a statement of Tobias.' personal philosophy and state of mind, as a mix of science, meditation and rhythm, Eyes In The Center stands in a long tradition of electronic music, scrutinizing the self while reaching out towards the unknown, approaching sound with an appetite for the new, in the tradition of true innovators.

Qnete came to our long closed record store, Time And Place, in Bremen and worked for us at the coat check at Downtown - Grey Cities oldest gay venue - while we me made our SWEAT Nights happen. He inhaled anything about house music and electronic music he could get into his tender hands and blends all these experiences into his own events, carries it to friends and shapes it into his own kind of musical output.

Delsin's next trick is a debut double 12" from Sentomea, an Amsterdam native, real name Sander Schuurman, you might not have heard of but a real synth freak. Exclusively producing his music in hardware-based live takes, and that gives rise to perfectly imperfect stuff that feels visceral and alive. Often making music with a visual connection, this EP is full of versatile 909 beats and fizzing electronic textures. 'Relative Solace' is up first and is a frosty house trip with bell textures and melancholic strings sounding all celestial and heavenly. 'Wander' is all about a sludgy 909 groove being lit up with bright strings and icy hi hat ringlets as dissonant pads stretch and skew all about the arrangement then 'Fortitude Boogie' has classic Detroit pads, a lovely broken rhythm and a funkateer bassline that makes the whole cut dance and emotional dance. 'Fluid' is more stripped back and clean, with rubbery 909 drums plodding below watery, gurgling synth sounds up top and this most expressive and textural EP closes with the experimental FM synthesis that is 'Matter' with its raw, off beat grooves and glassy surfaces, and finally 'Reminiscent,' a horizontal, star gazing cut that encourages you to lay back and day dream in the grass.

Trevino is Marcus Intalex. He is widely known for making underground drum and bass. In 2011 he started the Trevino alias to feed his desire to get back to his roots and rekindle his 4 to the floor spirit. He was originally a house and techno dj learning his trade in the late eighties/early nineties. He was a regular hacienda punter, a huge fan of the belleville 3 and a keen late night reveller travelling throughout the UK to clubs and raves way before drum and bass even thought of. He worked his way up in the 90's via working in records shops, djing in clubs and radio, promoting events and producing some significant dnb 12's. From the end of the 90's marcus has been in high demand flying around the world peddling his love for deep drum and bass. He still does this but he now also splits his dj calendar with his other alias Trevino and his love for all things 4/4. Well most things, certainly not gabba or hard house or gospel house or scouse house or anything too happy or too cheesy or too slow or too fast or too hard or too soft....sorry i digress..

Marcus's other major passion is golf. He plays regulary, or he did before he moved toGermany, now he doesn't play at all but that's another story. The alias Trevino is named after Lee Trevino, his favourite golfer when he was growing up. Birdie, well you can guess the obvious golf reference there. There are also track titles of some his previous release that bare the names from the golfing glossary. For him it's just a bit of self indulgence. He doesn't take himself at all seriously and certainly ain't lead by image, fashion or changes in demand and music styles. He likes it pure.

So this all leads us to his current project. Entitled Front', this double ep/ album project has obvious golf connotations. The project will come in two parts with Back' to follow sometime within the next 12 months. Both will contain 9 tracks in the same way a golf course has 18 holes split into two halves Front & Back.

Marcus is keen to point out that the music has nothing to do with golf whatsoever, its just an idea he thought was a good challenge and keeps the golf thing rolling.

Rimini, Italy's Simbiosi rip out their first 12" proper on the Cosmo Rhythmatic label after leaving a wide berth since their debut 3LP shockout, Elements for Actress' Werk Discs imprint in 2015 and a subsequent appearance on Actress' DJ-Kicks mix. Berlin experimental techno duo These Hidden Hands recently teamed up with Lucrecia Dalt for a 12 on Hidden Hundred, These Moments Dismantled. The abstract sonic terrain plotted in the eponymous first track finds its logical conclusion on the B-side, where tension and release oscillate in a harrowing groove. The artwork, created by Jesse Draxler, adds another layer of apocalypticism to the package.

Lanthan.audio kicked off 2016 with its third release. Label owner, Christian Gerlach, has already delivered two powerful punches of conceptual techno by artists like Edit Select and Deepbass. This time the South African born, New York based producer the Echologist has been chosen to lead the five track EP.

Echologist, also known as Brendon Moeller, has always demonstrated his passion for hypnotic synths with intense smoky atmospheres. He delivers two original tracks that have then been remixed by a familiar name to the label, Deepbass, as well as the talented Antonio Ruscito.

With the original cuts you can expect a trippy journey into metallic loops on a spatial environment of solid beats. The Deepbass remix offers another version of the hypnotic process in 'Dead Men Tell No Tales' in a more powerful manner.

On the flipside, the Italian, Antonio Ruscito delivers two other interpretations of the original track through different paths. The B2 serves us a proper banging synthetic vibe and the last bonus track, which is digital only, is the final trip to an hypnotic and cloudy deepspace.

With this package Lanthan.audio continues showing interest on a structural sound with that artistic touch of architecture. Expect to see some more new constructions of they're new building.

Karim Sahraoui, known by releases on labels such as Transmat, Cocoon and ARTS, as well as DJ appearances on Boiler Room and on dancefloors all around the world, makes his debut on OFF Recordings. Book Of Life is a melodic techno track in Karim's signature style. Warm and emotional, albeit with a strong drive for the dancefloor, it can set a strong accent in a set. Italy's DAST created a slamming peaktime techno interpretation, which is sure to create a massive effect on the dancefloor. Syncopated chords and a rolling groove build towards an epic break. "Exodus" is aptly named as a perfect track to close the set by the end of the night. Lush and warm pads and melodies evoke a warm and optimistic atmosphere. Anton Pieete remixed Exodus with a minimalistic and more groove-focused interpretation. Altogether an EP with a timeless feel, spanning the borders between techno, house and electronica.

Swedish producer Hans Berg returns to Pooledmusic's techno-focused sister imprint Montage with another collection of uniquely esoteric techno. Known for previous work on Kant and collaborations with Johanna Knutsson, Berg debuted on the label in 2015 with the Field EP. His second outing once again provides another showcase for his intriguing rhythmic sensibilities and pleasingly askew take on the classic techno sound palette. The EP is completed by another heads-down burner of a remix from Silvershower, aka label boss Ian Pooley.

The music of Swedish producer Hans Berg often soundtracks sculptural installations produced in collaboration with his partner Nathalie Djurberg.
Working as an artistic duo since 2004, their output comprises animation, public sculpture, immersive environments and now, vinyl recordings taken from these same pieces. Berg brings his experience in house and techno music culture to bear on this cooperative process.
The first track began life as an accompaniment to the outdoor work In Dreams (2016), installed at the Wanås Sculpture Park in Sweden. A naturalistic soundscape of birdsong gives way to a wave of complex, driving synth-pop, itself a shimmering reflection of the riotous, mirrored floor that nestled in the forest glade.

Lost Soul Enterprises presents Technology = Garbage, an album by JL. Recorded to Tascam in 2015 on a variety of cheap and obsolete machines. For fans of swamp acid, cavernous drums, grainy synth washes, and reverb.

Monoloc makes his debut on Hotflush recordings, the label's first release of 2016. Following a recent single on Innervisions and an appearance on Life & Death, his latest offering 'Another Thing' marks a departure into more atmospheric soundscapes.

The murky grandeur of the title track lends itself to moody textures that build in narrative, walking a knife-edge between industrial techno and minimalist dub. 'TrySome' conjures the setting of a dilapidated warehouse rave at 5am, while 'Makeless', with its low-slung percussive elements draped over misty pads and imposing bass, draws the listener further into Monoloc's wormhole.

Sign Bit Zero's next output is Black Seed, the alternate identity of Turin-based DJ and producer Matteo Viani. The project is a showcase of his excavations into the realm of electro-tinged techno and live experimentation.
Using the sharp edges of a raw, tribalistic robot funk sound as tools for crafting rhythm, Black Seed generates unsettling yet grooving scenarios, basemental bangers of danger dunked in smoke and hypnosis.

Dark Sky represent progression. The London duo have never settled for a specific sound nor dwelled in a single niche too long. What's striking about all their releases is their passionate love for all kinds of electronic music not exclusively dance floor related. This is no different with Othona, the second album from Dark Sky on Monkeytown Records. Across nine tracks Matt Benyayer and Tom Edwards manage to reinvent themselves once more by merging contemporary techno, classic electronica and their roots in British bass music into a touching and thrilling whole.

With releases on Black Acre, 50WEAPONS, Tectonic and Mister Saturday Night, Dark Sky have numerously proved their versatility. There's the vibrant deep house of In Brackets, the colourful 2step and breakbeat excursions on Black Rainbows and the vocal-laden melancholia of imagin. Othona picks up on the sound of their 2014 debut and tweaks it just in the right spots. Matt and Tom left vocals off altogether and left the intriguing melodies, shapeshifting rhythms and heavy bass do all the dramatic work. This album reveals them as an integral part of the Monkeytown family as well as innovators in their own right.

A large part of Othona is the result of Dark Sky's touring experience. Years of putting together their live sets encouraged them to focus on hardware instruments and samplers, preferring a more hands-on approach to computer screens. The album is also heavily inspired by photos and field recordings they took of isolated structures within different landscapes. One particular location which caught their attention was Bradwell-on-Sea in Essex, which is based on an ancient Roman fort called "Othona". After visiting the site on numerous occasions they discovered a small self-sustaining community of people living right beside the structure, which had its roots in the aftermath of the Second World War. "Its early pioneers created a movement that sought to pursue reconciliation and understanding between people of different faiths, cultures and nationalities', Matt and Tom explain. "This notion of harmony between individuals really inspired us".

The idea of harmony is not only rendered in the artwork by Harry Cresswell, which was based around the location, but can be heard throughout the album. Othona is always challenging and never takes the easy route, but its tracks constantly reveal the purest form of beauty. The title track opens the album and gently introduces its musical range with emotive pads, elaborate beat programming and subtle club signifiers, which steadily develops into the epic midtempo trance of "Domes". The slightly nostalgic synth melodies and cute bleeps of "Badd" bring to mind classic Aphex, which is never a bad thing, while "The Walker" channels ubiquitous melancholy into a standout moment of euphoria. Dark Sky are never short of emotional elements, but they know very well where to put them. Just listen to closing track "Field Tower", giving the kick drum its final overwhelming appearance - no doubt that this is going to be a highlight in their new live set.

Musically, his output of experimental electronics has swayed between heavy industrial techno and noise, composed music and slow, doomy and experimental house. On this new, full lenght album 'Nobody Cares Forever' he blends all of the above. From the orchestral hit, rave fueled opener to the melancholic synths of closing track 'All Of My Heroes' and everything in between is pure experimentation and decomposing of standard house, rave and techno elements. Howling's album Sacred Ground stands for many things at once: collaboration, improvisation, simplicity, unexpected happenstance. The original track 'Howling' exploded virally in early 2012 (via Dixon's Boiler Room set), though hardly past demo stage at the time, and proceeded to climb charts and win awards throughout electronic music. The track's two humble collaborators - singer/producer/folk-electronic artist Ry X and Âme producer/Innervisions leader Frank Wiedemann - never saw it coming. Nor did they expect that a few years later, despite being from two different sonic universes and living on two different sides of the world, their debut album would be pressed in Berlin. Sacred Ground will be released in May 2015 as a collaboration between Modeselektor's archetypal Berlin label Monkeytown and Counter, an imprint of Ninja Tune.
Raised in a remote town in Australia, and now based in LA, Ry Cuming met Karlsruhe-born, Berlin-based Frank Wiedemann on Skype through a mutual friend. Ry had risen to underground-folk fame with his breakthrough hit 'Berlin' and band The Acid, while Wiedemann had long sat as royalty in the 4/4 scene.
After their 'Howling' track took off unintentionally, the pair met in Berlin for two shows, and two songs were made very quickly and intuitively in their two days of rehearsal. Session/rehearsal recordings flowed naturally from there, with songs sprouting up in very different atmospheres: a ceremony space in Topenga, CA surrounded by deep forest (hence their lush track 'Forest'); amongst the WMC madness in Miami; in rehearsals in Zurich (indeed, where their 'Zurich' track was magically captured); even on Frank's farm in South Germany at Lake Constance. Sacred Ground is a wondrous synergy of both artists, with tangible elements of Frank's characteristic sound (deep, layered, amalgamative) creeping in ever so slightly amongst the profound freeness of Ry's vocals and production. But the project takes both artists to someplace new altogether: beautiful, hypnotic soundscapes that somehow hold a sense of abandon and a sense of being found.'Our process was very, very organic. For both of us, it's just about the creation. Each song has a little journey of its own. The vision's beautiful between us because there's a lot of trust. For the second time in as many releases, we at Second State are proud to deliver a brand new artist to the label. This time it's the Techno savvy Michael Klein from Berlin and with his Drawing EP, he delivers three stellar tracks cut from a master's palette.
Starting off with the title track 'Drawing', Michael takes us on a journey deep into the celestial spaces between lush dub and four-to-the-floor mayhem. Littered with
massive stabs of solar bursts, 'Drawing' is a thrill ride at a neck break pace perfect for lifting the whole place off the foundation.
Following the opening track is 'Illusive Space' and the name says it all. Like a jet engine, the drums do all the work, propelling the ship into hyper speed while just a couple massive blasts of a synth act as shifts into a higher gear with no slowing down in sight. With the final cut 'Pattern Movement', Michael enlists the help of Genevieve Marentette to pull off a colossal grinder of throbbing percussives. Interweaving
agile drums with auditory hallucinations of provocative female vocals chant what everyone wants: 'Get it'. We couldn't be happier to have this guy on board and think you will agree with us unconditionally. Welcome to the Second State family Michael Klein!

Shadows aka AnD remerge after their unforgettable debut on Shifted's Avian imprint in 2012. The long awaited return finds its home on Leyla Records, in the form of four diverse yet cohesive experimental cuts that take the listener on a journey through the oppressive, the rhythmic, the funky and abrasive.

Fear Of The Imagination commences with a paranoid piece of intense, evolving noise and rhythmic splattering. A spellbinding sense of woozy psychedelia entrances the listener with deconstructed drums punctuating the piece. The improvisational feel to 'Leaves In The Wind' sets the precedence for the non-conformity that flows throughout the EP.

Track two, 'What If They Are Watching You' sits somewhere between Nine Inch Nails and The Sprawl, with rhythmic intensity greeting the listener immediately at 120 BPM. Masked and ominous vocals creep in and out as metallic sound design washes over the track.

Track three 'On A Mad Train' is possibly the groups most experimental piece to date. Droned out guitars and ascending synth lines create an progressive palette that maintains masterful musicality dowsed with menace.

The closer 'Lights Out' bursts with slapping synth lines and a distorted kick which acts as the frame for the bed of noise. An ideal closer for an EP that exudes originality on a label that continues to push the boundaries.
