Rather they cut thru all fields at once to irrigate their own furrow of mutant, roiling drone which exists in a strange paradox of pulsating momentum and aching stasis, eaten away by caustic FX which bluntly work their way in like parasitic organisms.

Immersed in the early days of the 90s midwest rave scene, Bill Converse began DJing at a young age in Lansing, Michigan. Luminaries such as Claude Young, Traxx, and Twonz were key early influences. Since moving to Texas in 1998, he has experimented with analog techniques in varied studio bunkers. Early techno, noise, ambient, tape, and paranormal processing are all part of his uncanny sound palette.

'Meditations/Industry' is Converse's debut vinyl release, collecting material from a cassette release on Obsolete Future. The tracks were recorded to tape with no overdubs in 2012-2013. As the title implies, the album places meditation inside tactile sonic processes. Bill is informed by his surroundings, influenced by scenes of desolation in nature, the sea, the desert, and places of industry, like power stations, old factories, and warehouses. The songs on this full length reveal a sublime influence from Detroit techno, early Chicago house, and Acid.

The album was recorded and mixed by Bill at his home studio in Austin and mastered by Dave Alex. All songs were EQed for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. A custom-made jacket designed by our in-house designer Eloise Leigh incorporates the abstract cobalt glaciers, reminiscent of blueprints, over a dark gray background. Each copy includes a postcard with notes and a photograph of a mountain range that looks like ocean waves.

Joy Orbison and Herron. Three deadly rounds of tense, urgent, atmospheric, body-rocking techno — and something more like hip-hop. Tersely sexual, detailed but scuffed, fierce. That's young Herron on the front, with his mum.

Lena Platonos is a pioneer of the Greek electronic music scene of the 1980s. She produced and released her second solo album, 'Gallop', in 1985 that we reissued in 2015. The album is made exclusively using analog synthesizers and heavily features the iconic Roland TR-808 drum machine. Lena narrates each song, reciting her own surreal Greek poetry with unique skill. Lena says of 'Gallop', 'It's a study in the mythology of urban population of the contemporary metropolis and also a gaze into the future life of it.'

We've asked Red Axes to chose their four favorite songs from 'Gallop' and create remixes for each one. Red Axes is Tel-Aviv based producers and DJs Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi, releasing their own productions and remixes since 2009 on I'm a Cliché, Correspondant and Hivern Discs. The duo was raised on a steady diet of post-punk, new-wave and Italo-disco at fogged out warehouse and basement parties. They've transform 'Witches' and 'And We Hear 'I Love You'' into solid dancefloor tools. 'No. 9' and 'Liqueur Ruby' transport the listener to a hypnotic state tripped out in a psychedelic mist, with the latter featuring middle eastern rhythms by fellow Tel Aviv musicians The Dirty Lizards.

All songs have been mastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The jacket riffs off the original 'Gallop' cover, isolating the photograph of Lena layered on a grid backdrop designed by Eloise Leigh. Each copy includes a two-sided postcard with a manipulated frame from one of Lena's music videos. 'In an era where we are obsessed with nostalgia, Red Axes achieved something against that grain while still paying homage to the underrated greats that came before them.' - Anthem Magazine

UK techno label Timedance releases its second record of the year courtesy of Lurka,fresh off the back of a collaboration record with label owner Batu last month. It is undoubtedly some of his finest and most experimental work yet.

The A-side Beater brings a meticulous blend of clever sound design and one of the most thunderous kick/snare patterns you'll hear. Seriously tough. Density introduces a sea of rippling arps, set to a back drop of deep sub bass. It is probably Lurka's most melodic and introspective track yet, whilst still keeping his trademark percussion work.

London based DJ/Producer PAWSA is an artist on the rise who has already impressed with releases for Lost Records and Green Velvet's legendary Cajual imprint. Today he makes his MOOD debut with the 'FLUX' Ep, a trio of tracks, each underpinned by strong throbbing beats and mysterious basslines.

Opener '168' takes a spooky, brooding path with its spoken vocal and bobbing riff, before we're treated to a modern, techy tribal number in the form of the thumping 'Orion's Eyes'. Having slapped us with  the opening brace PAWSA drops us down on the final, deep and aptly titled 'Reflections', showing that the talented producer is more than able to turn his hand to a number of sound and styles. 

One of the most promising artists we hosted on Etichetta Nera returns with a massive track and we decided it had to be definitely on vinyl ! reworked by Dez , Quail (Animal Farm) and our Gez Varley aka G-Man you'll find for your pleasure !

Uno_label showcases the talent of Stefano Kosa , a young and bright producer with a promising career ahead of him. Stefano lands on UNO. with this tight and strong original track: "Siren". The title, immediately suggests the incredible power of this techno track.
While Alex Costa takes on the remix challenge, tightening the track with his thumping Kick Drum, he created a ripping groove that perfectly complements Stefano's original.

Unequal is a label founded by Anselm from Frankfurt am Main in 2015. Ranging from deep, spaced out analog techno to more droning, industrial rough sounds, the aim is to give an impression of whats going on in the FFM underground these days. Sophisticated broken beats and modular synths are essential for this project. Unequal means not to be just one specified style but an open-minded platform to express a diverse view of music within the techno genre.

With his first EP called "Gral", Anselm delivers some cold, moody techno tracks with spherical soundscapes as an connecting element. The title track on the A Side is a journey through wide open extramundane synth layers and bubbling acid drops covered by a voluminous bass. B1 is a bit more conventional one with driving hi-hats and slightly jacking beat whereas B2 is four-to-the-floor trippy stripped-down minimalism for the heads.

After a debut ep and a deep second one this time Carlo Zanelli has released a six tracks ep based upon a recording session done a couple of years before.
Every track have his unique character and the entire ep is intended more as a journey rather than a collection of different tracks making this a complete work ranging from ambient tracks to more danceable ones.

Cassegrain continue their empowering run of techno electronics with 'Centres of Distraction', their debut album on Prologue. Leading us on a 10-track expedition into a wilderness of rugged, challenging sonics, the album marks the production duo's development from adventurous new-bloods to fully fledged Techno explorers. Over the course of the last five years, Alex Tsiridis and Hüseyin Evirgen, now both firmly entrenched in Berlin, have created a heavily detailed rhythmic language of morphing synthesis, high end processing and club-chiseled production. A basis for much of their studio work, their controlled, hardware-focused live sets have brought them to a unique and respected position as showmen. A nod to the classic 90s electronic album format - spanning a wide range of tempos and genres - 'Centres of Distraction' covers a lot of ground. After the opening club-ready syncopations of 'A Study Of Splashes', itself a warm and addictive cut, the duo set out on a new exploration in purist electronica, beginning with 'Resilin'. Morphing from abstract and reduced broken beats into a stirring melodic piece, it's the most song-structured we've heard them. And so change and contrast are to continue as key themes. 'Centres' drops with its funky, off-centre lines and rattling percussion, to be quickly followed by the mighty 'Intrude - Restrain'. 'New Hexagon' charms us into a deep hypnosis with its percussive and rhythmic synthesis, highlighting the intricacies of the duo's drum programing. The serene mid-tempo tones of 'Glasshouse' create yet another dramatic change in focus as a temporal, high-pressure and high-intensity atmosphere is built and then gently deconstructed

The next release on Subject Detroit is the result of two Techno Titans joining forces. Label head DJ Bone presents a Subject Detroit first, a split-release with none other than the mighty Deetron. The two have been fans of each other's work for many years so this seemed like a most logical idea. Side D (D for Deetron) sees Deetron in impeccable form with 3 uniquely different versions of his masterpiece "The Core". The Core takes you on a deliberate journey from Deetron's Swiss roots straight to Detroit, one foot in the House realm, the other firmly planted in the funky domain of Techno. Strong, driving rhythms escort you through the vibe to an amazing crescendo and back. There are three versions to choose from, each creating a different energy for the floor. Side B (B for Bone) houses DJ Bone's "Black Patterns". Black Patterns is a true advancement and update to the Detroit Techno model. The main mix starts off in true DJ Bone fashion, hitting you right in the face, with a succession of beautiful piano stabs. A voice chanting "Black Patterns" echoes in announcing what is about to unfold. Uptempo, rhythmic, untamed drums arrive to complete this immense vibe. All three versions tell their stories and indicate that DJ Bone's upcoming album is going to be one hell of a release. If Techno, House and Jazz had a baby...his name would be Black Patterns. This is the first in a series of releases by the duo. And to further enhance their endeavor Deetron and DJ Bone will begin touring together in 2016. They will be playing solo as well as back-to-back and will debut several unreleased tracks during their sets.

Mak & Pasteman return to their label Materials with a 3 track EP that explores Techno & dark textures to new depths.
"The Whale" incorporates our love of dark twisted bass textures and driving analogue drums. Whale like noises and cinematic spoken word samples create suspense before unleashing a deep set grinding rhythm filled with twists, turns and atmospheric shots.
'Runout' see's us getting outright sinister, Pairing a twisted serial killer sample with complex textures and raw edgy drums. We like the darker side of music at times and this track gives us the chance to explore our moodier side. Mostly made with our Dave Smith gear we wanted to capture the raw gritty edge of these machines.'Artifacts' the final track off the EP doesn't let up, this is warehouse techno with militant attitude, dark vocals, suspense like strings and a vibrating analogue bass tones. Creating a track with rich industrial textures and sparse pulsing drum work.

Donato Dozzy and Neel's Spazio Disponibile keeps up the pressure here with a fine fourth EP of 2016, this time from Mike Parker. The label - which also has a party of the same name in Rome attached to it - deals in heady techno, so the Geophone label owner and New York artist Parker is a perfect fit with his always deep offerings.

Enduring and influential Detroit techno act Octave One are to release their fifth full length album, Burn It Down, in Spring 2015. The 11 track opus is a collection of the unreleased music that has been lighting up their much talked about live shows for the last few years.

Octave One are Lenny Burden and Lawrence Burden (with revolving members of Lynell Burden, Lorne Burden, and Lance Burden) and are known for their impressive and immersive, fully live shows. Their recorded output has come exclusively on influential labels Tresor and their own 430 West and has very much defined the techno trends of the day. From hard edged to tripped out, futuristic to soulful, they have done it all and then some.

This new album comes at a time when the pair are still evolving and searching out new forms. As live performers they are reaching an ever larger audience around the world and plenty of the energy they exude there is bottled up in this new LP. Made using a fine collection of hardware including bits by Roland, Moog, Dave Smith Instruments and much more besides, it follows 2008's Summer on Jupiter and proves that as individuals and as musicians we have grown with time and through our travels. Our music reflects that. Our work this time around has taken a lot longer to produce, but we feel it represents, more than anything else we have done to this point, our complete idea as an album project.

Kicking off with the rooted kicks and sci-fi, slo mo techno of 'Eighth Wonder' the album unfolds through elastic and triumphant diva house on ' Jazzo/Lose Myself (featuring Ann Saunderson)', cosmic soundscaping on 'Afterglow' and melodically enriched grooves and funky guitar licks on 'A Better Tomorrow (O1 Remake) (featuring Random Noise Generation)'. Elsewhere there is breezy and anthemic fair with 'Believer', soul kissed sounds and lush pads on 'Whatever She Wants' and then shapeshifting, industrial tinged beats and twisted techno in the later half.

Things unfold on Burn It Down with a real sense of narrative, though, and despite being a techno album never do things grow to stern or serious. Instead the mood and tempo switches up knowingly, just like an Octave One live set, and really transports you to another place entirely in the process.

Following on the success of Markus Suckut and Eduardo de la Calle previous releases, Shlomi Aber's next release is another EP of fast driven, pulsating, relentless Techno, topped with remixes by two of the most sought after producers of the past years, Truncate and Jeroen Search. On the A side, '48V' and its Truncate remix, while on the B 'Shaded In Mars' and Jeroen Search's remix of it. Another one to bag.

First LCR wax is coming out at the beginning of March, after 4 years on digital world, LCR come on the wax with his first release. On the release we will find a Unam Zetineb already on LCR family, and he has released on really good labels last past years.

AUS Music press on with what's been a stellar year so far and continue to maintain the quality and diversity of their output. Next in line is a dub-tinged collection of foggy Deep House and Techno from Berlin based Youandewan backed up by Ilian Tape boss Dario Zenker on remix duties. Whilst remaining modest and with a seemingly ineffable degree of ease, Youandewan has consistently bolstered his sound in his ascent. Typified by his latest 'Spiral Arms' EP on AUS - it is a sound that has taken on new facets and plunged to new depths since a move to Berlin and his latest 'Verloren' EP marks a further step down a colder and harder path. The title track kicks things off with a rubbery thud sat beneath a rich sandy shuffle and a buoyant analogue stab. Reverberated vocals swell through the breakdown ahead of the return of a stripped but purposeful sub pattern. Dario Zenker then does what he does in upping the pace and driving nails, clap-heavy drum patterns through a tough and uncompromising remix. 253 (Decent Mix) then melds a flexing bass pattern with neatly plotted clicks and playful drum fills before glassy pads swell into focus. Stripped and steady in its development, tension in the track never quite spills over whilst an arresting warm up tone is deftly dialed. #1 then drives a full-bodied throb under chilly synth tones and dramatic drum flashes that cap off another fine addition to Youandewan's ever-evolving catalogue and another rich and varied package on AUS.

After the acclaimed "Bats/Modal" release (OTB#004), Aggborough returns to OTB Records for the heavenly #007 with this 3 track Heygate EP. Since his last release on OTB he¹s been setting up sister label "No Real Value" and started playing his first live and DJ shows in his hometurf London.
A1 'In a Sieve' The words come from a poem by Edward Lear "The Jumblies".
It's a wonderful classic about the will to try the extraordinary. The track feels like a brooding animation bringing the words to life, ending in an absurd chant.
B1 'Traces' Perfect DJ tool based around a simple yet inventive and hypnotic percussion loop layed out in a clear structure. The kickdrum is less persuasive which makes the track live on the border of house and techno.
B2 'Heygate' This track comes closest to the unique blend that makes the Aggborough sound: Emotional techno, not too fast and pretty dark sexy. It develops towards epicness but still maintains a stripped feel. The subtle interplay of carefully placed field recorded atmospherics and percussions guide you along this thomping bass driven beast. The general impression is that of a beautiful melancholic machine.

Viennese Analog-Wizards Buffered Multiple (also known for their Electro-Outlet Microthol) deliver the followup to Buffer 01 with three outstanding tracks of deep, mysterious and mesmerizing techno.
Mark 1.12. is the track that works well in the peaktime situation, while the B-side shows their extremely detailed production skillz and knowledge about the minimalistic but floating techno. Besides their production skillz, the duo teams up for extended trippy vinyl-dj sets which demonstrate a level of knowledge in Techno which is rare to find these days. efdemin is happy to welcome the two producers back on Lirum Larum.

Here comes the eighth release in the line, pressure cooked by Christian Wunsch. Three slices of fine modern techno, but with strong roots on tradition.

Garnier, the Grand Seigneur of Techno, surprises with his first EP for 50WEAPONS.

Known as pioneer and influencer of the global electronic music scene, internationally respected DJ and the undisputed godfather of the French techno scene, Garnier is always in touch with the emergence of new artists and genres. His music career has always been about integrity. Nonetheless his release for 50WEAPONS doesn't at all sound like the 'the French touch' one would expect, but pairs the dark sound of 90ies techno icons Underground Resistance with bleepy acid lines.

Here Garnier reiterates his close working relationship with the underground and shows once again his skill and rigour as a producer.

Typical Garnier basslines flirt with the Retro Charme of Chicago and the roots of house music as well as his own. There's a reminiscence of 'The sound of the big Babou' one of his great hits, but it seams like a version stripped down to the streamlines of an underground club between 4 and 6 a.m.

And quite the star, Monsieur Garnier garnishes his EP with a B side full of conoisseur hit potential. With its shouted vocals and driving bassline H.E. Is a killer of a swinger. The EP, entitled AF 4302, is distinguished by an organic, raw, acid-flavoured techno sound. Three tracks and three different moods in which Garnier reinvents himself and takes his music to new, unchartered territories.
These tracks are razor sharp and should be handled with care!

Hallcuinator delivers their first album with 11 tracks on Yellow-Stripe Recordings.

After a huge release collection, and a lot of big labels they finally decide to make an album. This album is full of tracks that shows exacly what Hallucinator is and what are their influences since Metal, to Hardcore and obvious always having Hard Drum and Bass as a 'line'.

This album also includes a lot of collaboration with Counterstrike 'Revolver', Cooh' The Solution', C-Netik 'Drop Bombs' and featuring Mc Coppa 'Sick Society'.

Its impossible to mention only 1 track from this amazing album you have to listen and choose for yourself.

After his successful remix of Orion's "Gravity" Johannes Volk returns to Polytone with his debut EP. Two excellent techno tracks are in place and a spaced out ambient piece called "It Could Happen" describes the mysterious view from a spacecraft cockpit into the wideness of the universe. On the A-Side Volk blows the whistle of the EP's title "Asteroid Riding" with funky chords accompanied by a wide deep bassline, short samples, classic percussions and a cropped stomping kick-drum, that let you ride through the orbit. On the B-Side "Earthbound" pounds with a broad hollow kick, arpeggiated synth's, alerting sounds and a harmonically settled type of string-line that eases the element's diversity like the blue planet's gravity. Within the tracks that have been built to transport the feel of time and space, Johannes Volk again pushes himself on the cutting edge of electronic music.

The story began, when Kerem bought his first drumsticks and started to play drums. At the beginning, he generally listened and played funk, blues tracks.Also, he performed with several local bands on festival stages in Istanbul. When his high school period, Kerem started to produce his own tracks and generally, his influences were soulful and hiphop music. After that period, he applied to Miller Music Factory Contest' which was one of the biggest electronic music contest in Turkey, when he was 18 and his production won Electronic Music Production' title. His music carreer changed quiet attractively after this success and he started to work and cooperate with Kaan Duzarat who is one of the strongest producer and live performer in Istanbul's local area and be a part of Vesvese crew which has been operated by Kaan Duzarat. Kerem's influences a bit changed on that period and he started to listen and produce house music. His first EP called A Good Play' has been released by London based house imprint Apparel music on 2013 with a stong supports like Shur-i-Kan, Osunlade, Dubfire and many more...After his first precious release, live performances started to increase local club's crowd and Kerem's name known by many club addicts. Now, he's a part of Petra Digital crew and his second EP will release from our imprint as a vinyl called Life of a Party' We wait passionately to see what the future holds for this talented young man.

Taking influence from original UK techouse and techbreaks, Detroit techno, Chicago House, electro, deep house and 90's electronica, Groovepressure is about keeping these influences fresh whilst looking towards the future. Releases will include new music plus re-masters and remixes of sought-after Groove Pressure classics. Groovepressure came from the underground and had support from legends like Laurent Garnier and Andrew Weatherall with recent support from the newer school including Onur Ozer and Raresh. Usurp is an anonymous collective of European artists joining into a unique platform in order to spread their similar musical vision, including IDM and Industrial sonorous experiments, without the need of labeling it, in favour of letting the music do the talking, almost as a protest against the common club culture paradigms. Every release is based on empires' histories, and some of the turning points in their existences. After the first record released back in May 2016, inspired by the Roman Empire - its titles took inspiration from The Life of Brian, since USURP artists love Monty Python since their adolescence - its second installment 'Reconquista' is about the Moors, Islamic inhabitants of Maghreb, Spain, Italy and Malta in Medieval times. Since he was young, he has always been impressed by the sounds of the synths, electro pop and later on acid house. In the beginning of the 90ies, when the Slovenian electronic scene was still in the making, he was a regular guest in the legendary K4 and Palma in Slovenia. He was taken further into the world in 1998 when he took his first steps behind the turntables and he has been producing music since 2004. Since then, he has had quite a few releases and remixes for different record labels.He has dj gigs with huge names of the electronic scene and in large festivals in Slovenia and became the official Slovenian Hero of the future in 2007 at the Disconautica festival.He spends much of his time in his studio, where his thoughts are converted into notes and melodies, and as he often states, he finally found a style that suits him and always finds a challenge in. What is that style He doesn`t like to be defined by a specific music style, as he prefers and is influenced by many different genres of electronic music.
Alex Long is definitely a name we will hear of in the future!

I was at Warung back in 2012 discussing music with Seth Troxler. We both realized that a key factor for a good producer/DJ is to make and play interesting music, void of any arbitrary genre or labeling.

Long story short, i sent him this thing i had been sitting on called Tripi and he went on to champion that record for a good year and finally released it on his label as the inaugural release.

I was inspired by how that record resonated with a lot of Djs from all across the musical gamut. So i made a follow up of sorts and here you have it. - Sharam

Succeeding his profound and forward-thinking album 'Depth Charged' which was revealed last February, Terence Fixmer returns with 'Depth Charged Remixed' featuring Ostgut Ton's Answer Code Request and UK's underground techno hero Steve Bicknell. 'Elevation', originally the final track of the album, emotional and reflective, is kicked up a notch by ACR's Patrick Gräser by adding ponderous drum patterns making it perfect for the floor. Conversely, Steve Bicknell takes on 'Unforeseen'. With it's fast paced rolling bass it is now put into top gear shivering with feverish reverberations. Human Rays - Stockholm, Sweden producer Robin Smeds Mattila—says that the music on A Tension was made during nocturnal sessions in a studio full of mostly cheap analog and digital gear, all in one take. "I kind of let the mood guide me and just go with it," he says. The result is a gripping fourtrack´suite of emotionally charged minimal ambient that was created quickly but sounds like it was rigorously sweated over for many weeks. After a handful of releases that explored noisy, quasiindustrial techno, Mattila here deviates into a more abstract, melancholy mode with A Tension. His creative process involves experimenting "to see how far I can push a sound with a pretty lofi setup. Improvisation and limitations are part of the thing that makes it interesting." This approach yields riveting dividends right from the start on A Tension. On "Condensity," the sparse pinging and distant, muted beats commingle with what sounds like rough wind or waves, hinting at the Arctic vibes that Biosphere conjured on Substrata. It's at once chill and chilling, tranquil and unsettling. "Between The Hours" places spindly, woody beats beneath a dramatic sweep of synthetic strings, ebbing and flowing like Fripp & Eno's monumental "An Index Of Metals." "Neverendless" might be even more redolent of the North Pole than "Condensity," its severely minimal isolationist ambience suggesting Mick Harris' nonemorecold Lull or Thomas Köner's Permafrost. On "Manual Litany I," Mattila takes what sounds like a sentimental synth melody and smears it into a mantra of compelling drudgery. He notes that the track draws inspiration from William Basinski, who's famous for his series of profoundly poignant Disintegration Loops albums.

REWORK: the action of redoing, correcting or rebuilding"; that is the spirit they put in this Ep with those four House music anthems of those consider today as the father figures of this music. Without sampling, replaying all the keyboards and arpeggio, they turned thoses anthems into modern acid and techno vibe. From 1989 to 2015 Ka One & St-Sene give great tribute at Lil Louis, Mr Fingers, Kerri Chandler and Laurent Garnier.

The Argentinian based NGLY had seemingly appeared out of thin air landing on the Brooklyn based L.I.E.S. label in 2014 with an untitled four track white label ep. On this ep, the unsuspecting track "Speechless Tape" ended up becoming a cult hit with select djs in the scene (I-F, Mick Wills, Intergalactic Gary...) eventually leading to it being voted as Intergalactic FM's #1 track of the year in 2014. On the heels of his successful debut Rudolfo could have stayed the path and produced an easily digestable follow up dance record or two, instead he chose to take his time and reflect. Sitting back in the studio tweaking his live act, recording endlessly, transforming and refining his sound.
In the end we get his debut eight track lp, Cities of Illusion, a record that walks a fine line between many of the original strains of the electronic realm. The elements are all there to be picked apart, to be used, to be abused, thrown against the wall smashed to bits...played in the club or on the late night mix shows, it's magic you heard in the past and crave in the present. To say the music on the lp is one thing or another is an injustice...it pays reverence while at the same time turns a corner; held together by a loose yet cohesive thread. It is a full presentation that is unafraid to challenge or confuse, with no concern for genre imposed limitations.

Coinciding with the one hundredth anniversary of one of the most surprising works by contemporary icon Franz Kafka, The Metamorphosis (1915), Reeko celebrates the novella or adult fairy tale with his own reinterpretation of Kafka's controversial narration. The author offers a first person account of the protagonist Gregor Samsa's transmutation; a human just like any other, with a grey, predictable and routine existence.
However, this bland existence comes to an end when Gregor undergoes a catharsis, a metamorphosis that transforms him into an insect. A mutation that Reeko describes beat by beat, giving us Samsa's every single heart beat and shudder. We bear witness to his dehumanisation, we feel every trace of humanity dissolve in the cold blood of the new being that is coming to life: an insect man, a new circumstance that will affect the way he sees the reality he thought he knew and the world that seemed to him rigid and unchangeable.
Juan Rico has already demonstrated his capacity for description. With the use of his trademark dark sound - both digital and analogue, since he has mastered both worlds- his sublime double LP Finding the New Matter (Mental Disorder, 2011) took us to new and exciting places, establishing him as a reputed artist within the international electronic music scene.
The first chapter-track is 'La Metamorfosis', which provides the title for the record and is the only track with a name. From here on, there will be no more labels; the dimension we find ourselves in bears no description.

A1, 'La Metamorfosis' acts as a prologue, a prelude which describes the whole record. It is not one of four tracks, but the opening that allows for the rest of the story to unfold. Over the course of six minutes, this first track progressively penetrates an atmosphere which becomes increasingly clear and intelligible for us humans, and at the same time separates us, cell by cell, from our own species.

A2, 'Capitulo 1'. We suddenly become aware, as Gregor Samsa barely managed in the kafkian setting of the original novel, that something is happening to us. All around us, reality remains unchangeable, but our vital rhythms and the way we perceive our surroundings is.. simply terrifying. Or is it just different

B1. Side B welcomes us with 'Capitulo 2': Gregor has lost all contact with his human self and has ceased to struggle, to question what is happening and where this catharsis is taking him. In this track, sounds stop fluctuating and palpitating and acquire a cold and thorny cadence. Precise basslines and rough melodies that transport us with very little gentleness to minute 2:40, where reality turns poignant, painful and imposing. It envelops us and abandons us to a new sense of self that we still cannot comprehend and, least of all, control.

B2. The transformation or metamorphosis reaches its climax with 'Capitulo 3'. The final light of the painful experience. A light which is dark and a place, a reality that, far from reassuring, takes us and pushes us with growing strength. Now we perceive every molecule, appendage and limb (dozens of them that we will need to coordinate from now on). We feel the embrace of the shell that both protects and oppresses. And we want to regain control, assume our new reality as quickly as we can to leave confusion, panic and fear behind. Indeed, all these begin to fade.

We manage to stand up, little by little, with great pain. Nothing has changed around us, but nothing is the same either. Our perception is different. The metamorphosis, the intense sonic battle we have lost in chapter 3, is an avenue to a new life. A cold and invertebrate life, but free from the chains of the sickly heartbeat that tethered us to that false warmth when we were mere humans. Where will this new phase of our existence take us How will we survive as insects from now on

The first R&B Rec Record is born from the encounter of two artists in the gloomy Baltimore of the beginning of the millennium, after years in which their artistic roads proceeded in a very much parallel manner, without ever physically crossing paths, driven by their passion for analog instrumentation and the desire to find and create new rhythmics and sounds. It is in 2013 the two decide to join their forces to create their own personal vision of techno music and dance music in general.
Resulting in a hot and scratchy Vinyl that combines dark, percussion sounds well known from Detoit Techno, with the sought after rhythmic of breakbeat and Drum and Base, of the British Nineties. Also packed with influences of Acid-House, this record incorporates features of the so influential 80's Punk Era, finally sinking it's roots in the psychedelic currents of the 70's.
The result is a brand new genre which is difficult, if not impossible to define. A unique way of defining Dance Music, in all its aspects, which is identified under the name of Spaceship Surgery Techno.
