Side A kicks off with a slice of heavy Russian techno mayhem with driving acid, synth and heavy percussion. Over on side B we have two different moods starring with more heavy duty acid on B1 and completing the side with some peak time dark wave action on achromatic.

the Herkulesberg, a so called "Trümmerberg" of post-war debris in the
center of the city. This special scenery gave the inspiration for his
slowly progressing piece of intense deep techno art.

B2 Diom - Switcheroo
"Switcheroo" by Diom celebrates reduction. Hypnotic chimes and subtle
changes echo the compositions of musicians like Steve Reich and other
representatives of the minimal music scene.

Mancunian newcomer LOFT lands on Wisdom Teeth with a stunning set of dramatic, dynamic and cinematic club cuts. LOFT debuted on Astral Plane Recordings last year with the 'RA Recommended' Turbulent Dynamics EP, which featured five stylistically varied slices of experimental, sui generis club music. The EP's centre point, 'Heffalump', stood out in particular. Across 7 minutes the track rises and falls, its rhythms and melodies constantly shifting and changing, building to a fanfare coda of trance stabs and tumbling breaks. Resident Advisor, who placed the track 8th in their Top 50 Tracks of 2016, called it 'disorienting and strangely danceable' - a pairing that, on WSDM007, turns out to be LOFT's calling card. Three Settlements Four Ways picks up where 'Heffalump' left off. Dynamically and structurally, the EP operates miles outside of traditional club territory, eschewing techno's constant, linear structure in favour of unpredictable narratives that rise and falter in a series of dramatic crescendos. Baltimore rhythms and gunshot breaks build to violent peaks before tumbling into thin air, giving way to yearning melodies, romantic synths and pitch bent choirs. WSDM007 secures LOFT's place in that special class of artists - think Objekt, Bruce, A Made Up Sound - capable of creating impeccable, challenging dance music that is at once cerebral and unfalteringly functional. Terrific 12¨ purple vinyl and as Waste Editions crew are really into emotive and personal sounds ,on this occasion this new release 'Inside us ' by Old Coroner can´t be otherwise. We can´t talk about a trend since the producer from Barcelona Victor Safont ,who is the man behind this project ,started producing synthwave music in 2003. Yes siree! Powerful beats ,dark textures and touching melodies which are perfect for a diabolic dance floor or a meeting at a lodge.

After a feature on Steffi's fabric 94 mix CD (and the accompanying Dolly Deluxe 3 release), Late Night Approach debuts on Klakson with a hyper funky electro twelve. The two tracks on the A side both show machine music that's simultaneously human, whether it's the melancholic shards of melody buried under "Clarence Mews" commanding rhythmic pulsations, or the beautifully striking chords on "Luvquest". However, the b-side takes us to gloomy subterranean pastures with the uptempo banger "Primo", while A2 "Kit" crosses over into broken beats but still keeps the same shadowy atmosphere.

NYC experimentalists Sheik N Beik add to a series of successful parties in the capital as well as an extolled slew of 12's from the likes of Legowelt & Xosar as Xamiga and Jeffrey Scott with another weird and wonderful record courtesy of Sheik N Beik founder Julio operating under a new guise: Rechulski.

Also hailing from NYC and a regular at the collective's parties - Rechulski offers up a celestial 3 track EP as his debut and in doing so offers up an insight into a left-of-centre approach to production that lends him perfectly to a record with Sheik 'N' Beik.

'Jürgens' is an excersise in tense, burning Techno and kicks the EP off with powerful analogue drums rattling against cold, distant pads. Clever sequencing has the track snowballing throughout as subtle tones and shimmering percussive elements are added before Müller drives a stout kick drum under tumbling, phased melodies that are interweaved to form a formiddable wall of sound.

Rüdiger then renders a chilly lunar landscape as it suffuses gentle flickering textures with wide spread synth sweeps. A cyclical sequence gently bleeds into focus alongside sharp electronic pulses that round off a rich and varied release and another solid addition to the Sheik 'N' Beik series and an exciting insight into an auspicious new producer.

Scotland's premier electro alchemist is back on Shipwrec and this time flying solo with five shards of sharpened machine music. Beats rain down in solid sheets, a hail of drum patterns pelt and pound. Acid scorn, speeding snares and scorched sound roar and rumble in the menacing "Days of Rage." The 12" hisses and howls, sending forth a searing line of percussion as gears crank and grown. "Glasgow to Detroit" is just as fiery, scorn and sparks leaping off burning bars. Aggression is always at the surface, and behind the razor rhythms lurks a palpable paranoia, as in "Daisy Cutter" or "Uprising." The only respite comes with the complex and textured "Stones and Sticks." Harsh mechanics from an industrial heartland.

Sam Kerridge launches a major rethink of his style with the high-velocity tempos and razor-toothed bite of The Silence Between Us.
Toiling somewhere between Ueno Masaaki's Vortices for Raster-Noton, the pitching pelt of La Peste for Hangars Liquides, and the machine convulsions of Somatic Responses, he goes balls-to-the-wall with the breakneck momentum of Possession/Control, harnessing reverse-edited kicks, helter-skelter EBM bass and spectrographic noise ghouls in a surge of searing rave energy.
Flipside, those knotty, strobing pulses keen thru empty stomach inversions and bursts of tangled EBM synths on Ascension, which is effectively a snappier edit of the A-side, whilst Radical Possibilities of Pleasure sounds like a field recording from a french hardtek invaded by dildo dibble in choppers and riot gear railing lasers against any unlucky dancers.

Shanghai/Taipei-based producer Tzusing returns with (In a Moment a Thousand Hits), continuing his exploration of the seamier side of life, his music mutates from industrial and EBM roots into stranger territories. Like the titular martial arts master of his recent LP, who can only achieve invincibility by denying his own masculinity, asks if obsessive pursuit of a specific identity can only lead to its negation, the opposite of the intended image. Amidst the malevolent throat singing samples, suona-like drones, and occasional shouts and howls in Taiwanese, the music's slamming percussive weight nods towards the most reviled forms of mainstream dance music. Treating every available tool as valid, Tzusing interrogates taste, constructed identity, and the desire for power through five tracks of destabilised funk and thundering processions.

The new album of DJ Hell ''Zukunftsmusik'' keeps bringing us good news. The latest single to drop from the album, "Car Car Car," arrives with remixes from some of the scenes most enigmatic producers.
Roman Fluegel presents his own eclectic and diverse interpretation in a playful and artistic vibe, while Phil Kieran´s Autobahn remix is a straight, deep and dark version of the original track, which is featured on the vinyl too.

In electronic dance music there are a few artists with a special talent to produce tracks that in the right hands, will rock any dance floor in the globe. With his second release on Derrick May's legendary Transmat Records, Greg Gow confirms he is one of them.

For the second release in collaboration with ZCKR Records, Research and Waves present Artist Hannes Middelberg¥s installation-based sound piece Displacement. The translation of Middelberg¥s seemingly improvised, constantly rotating drawing machine onto the one-sided vinyl record makes the complexity of every automated circulation acoustically accessible.

- Umwelt's 12inch ... City' from 1999 was one of the most impressive 12inches I had at that time and I played the shit out of it. It was dark and very emotional, it was abstract but also driving at the same time. This was 1999 though, before Discogs and before Facebook and all the other platforms people have now to do research on artists they like and follow their work. At that time it was the record shop - and that was it. Nobody knew this guy though, and I didn't get my hands on any of the following releases, so in my world there was no follow-up to this record ever and I thought it would remain a one-off gem in my record box.
Until by some coincident I recently discovered he was still around and had actually released numerous releases in the meantime. I was very excited and contacted him straight away and ended up booking him for Krake Festival in the same year. Undoubtedly his set was one of the best of the whole festival! He took the roof off the place with his mix of raw electro, industrial and rave and everybody was talking about it afterwards, saying it was the highlight of the festival! Talking to him I learnt, that most of the tracks he played were his own, mostly unreleased. He produces without computers, all his tracks are single takes, there is no editing, no mixing afterwards, he only has a stereo track recording which is what it is. He owns a cutting machine which he uses to cut dubplates from his tracks, which he then plays out during his sets. This whole information about this very unique artistic approach just killed it for me, and since working with him was so nice as well, I asked him for a demo for Killekill and its labels and was hoping for tracks I could make a great 12 of. I got 14 tracks and after weeks of trying to pick the best, I finally realized I held one of the best electro albums ever in my hand - banging beats and the balls to go big and epic, subtle melodies, drama, funk - this album has got it all, and what's most important, the music on it is the exact opposite of so much other music nowadays: It is emotional, it tells a story, it is easily recognizable and it is not interchangeable. It's just Umwelt.

ROBOTS KICK ASS

Bjarki's not a fan of boxes - in fact, if you try putting him in one and he'll gleefully jump out and stamp all over it. In 2015 you probably had him pegged as a techno artist, but in 2016 he confounded everyone's expectations of his musical path (surprise breakout hit of the year followed by big room appearances playing the aforementioned hit at every set..). And instead he released three widely praised LPs ' Lefhanded Fuqs Æ' that mapped out a broad musical landscape for him - one that runs from ice cold ambient soundscapes, through melodic techno, exuberant breakbeat and on toclassic rave. His final release of 2016 'Fresh Jive' placed him firmly leading the pack of artists who in the past few years have set about re-moulding the scent of breakbeat, rave, jungle and IDM into sounds that are entirely their own.
In 2017 Bjarki opens up a record label with his childhood friend Johnny ChromeSilver, bbbbbb Records.
'My Inspiration' is a classic breakbeat jungle track, written by Floyd Dice and Acen as X-Static, originally released in1992 on Production House Records. For the new release, the B-side includes an additional version by Bjarki that was mouth-wateringly teased to the general public on last years. Trip 2 Iceland video. Bjarki's 'Sweetest Thing' Version revs up the pads, melody and vocal of the original into a spine tingling, brooding and insanely addictive bass heavy breakbeat roller.

Lok44 and Dibek are /DL/MS/, dropping a malicious four-tracker as their joint TRUST debut. The haze hangs heavy as /DL/MS/ leave straight techno by the wayside, drilling deep underground into unexplored acid break deposits. 'Rogue Intent' shakes tectonic plates, colliding grinding breaks with fierce analogue instrumentation, and the fumes oozing from their boreholes are likely to set your head spinning.

Earlier this year, Dekmantel announced the signing of Robert Hood for a new project titled Paradygm Shift. Over the course of three different EPs, which will eventually evolve into an album, the Detroit but now Alabama based legend presents Paradygm Shift. Tyrees is an up and coming, London born and bred producer and DJ with a heavy focus on breaks, bass and pads. His sound pays homage to and is an evolution of the elements that were so crucial in the UK dance music scene throughout the '90s and onwards. His love for Hardcore, Jungle and Drum 'n' Bass of the early to mid '90s is principally important to the formation of his style. Producers like Tyrees are taking full advantage of the current wave of innovative and experimental styles of electronic dance music. With great respect and adoration, Tyrees is combining percussive elements, rhythms, structures, samples and tempos from many genres and eras, creating familiar but fresh, unique and exciting sounds.Aside from electronic dance music, Tyrees is deeply interested in a broad spectrum of musical styles, notably the many sub-genres of Jazz, Soul and Funk from the '60s and '70s, Hip Hop culture which was so heavily inspired by this music, and anything else from Rock and orchestral pieces to World Music and obscure OSTs. This obsession with music is apparent in the overall sound of his productions.

Greek label and promoters Trial & Error present their first ever vinyl release Hollow Systems' by Bonebrokk - packed with a Jay Glass Dub version. A deeply personal record that's refuses to lay low, it's both tense and intimate with a driving percussive energy and empathetic hooks. Whilst the contemporary UK techno influence is easily defined, its real strength lies in its raw honesty.

Bristol upstarts Giant Swan bring their distinct brand of chaotic noise to Timedance. Fresh from a series of high profile gigs and a feature in The Wire, the duo release their first single of 2017, the most refined work they have showcased yet. The single features two assaults of frenetic rhythmic work outs, gully drops and punky vocals - cementing their place as one of the most exciting up and comers in dance music right now.

Jensen Interceptor aka Mikey Melas returns to CPU with another brutal electro storm.

The dance floor is never far from his mind with each track building upon his signature thunderous kicks and android basslines.

Melas demonstrates his meticulous knowledge of the genre on this E.P. as he jumps between aquatic synths and no nonsense UR science.

Recorded with a modest hardware setup in Geneva - one drum machine, a few synths, a sampler, plus effects - the ten miniatures on LEVELS' debut S/T are nonetheless dense in atmosphere and mood, often immensely beautiful beyond their means. As suggested by the project's name, each track has the feel of a new level on a video game, a new environment to explore, to feel around for new clues, and ultimately to conquer. Referencing classic anime, movie, and videogame scores, LEVELS' willfully minimal sound palette is designed to give the listener a cinematic sensation. The sparser and more lo-fi sounds on side A have the listener tentatively exploring futuristic new spaces, wandering hallways of ambient beds and kick drum heartbeats. However, the busier rhythms and crisper melodies of the second side tell of the action that happens next, picking up the pace for keyboard-heavy chases, drum machine action sequences, and some gorgeously redemptive emotional peaks.

Ploy follows up last years 'Iron Lungs' on Timedance with an EP of deep percussion exercises. 'Intrigued By The Drum' sees the London-based producer explore evolving rhythms and electronics. While the tone stays relentlessly tribal, Ploy variates on the theme. The opening tracks dread is balanced out by the warm, colourful strings on 'Zoom', whist 'Blow Poke' bounces with frenetic propulsion. The EP concludes with 'Bad Seed', where a sultry groove is programmed alongside the wooziest of pads. All four tracks showcase Ploy at his most subtle and accomplished, it's well worth the wait.

Vakula has been a Dekmantel label member ever since the very early days. The Ukraine based producer now drops his album Cyclicality Between Procyon And Gomeisa on the label.
'This album is about cycles, repetition and interaction', says Vakula, whose Cyclicality between Procyon and Gomeisa is the third of a series of albums and reflects a dashing experimental record that evokes the endless and captivating potential of electronic music. It creates a mesmerizing journey through various music genres, exhibiting a singular sonic experience, whilst he works through a process of improvisation and refinement.
Once again the mastermind proves to be capable of creating complex, yet diverse musical pieces beyond genres and trends. The result: an audio adaptation of his fascinating mind. 'There are two parallel processes that come together in my work: me writing music and working on the sound I want to achieve, and the energy from outside that flows and transforms into thoughts, correlations, and actions.'

The track titles relate to the source of Vakula's inspiration and connect the dots between his obsession for the vastness of our universe and electronic music. ''To wonder about the universe and to dig into mythology and scientific research discovering at least some of its secrets is what keeps me endlessly motivated as a producer.''

Overmono return to XL Recordings with their second EP in March 2017. Arla II is the follow up to last year's debut Arla EP and further crystallizes the duo's immense & innovative sound. This latest 6-tracker from Ed & Tom Russell (known respectively for their solo Tessela and Truss projects) carries things forward from its predecessor in underscoring Overmono as a fully formed & ongoing project.

nstead of searching for commonalities between their earlier individual work, Overmono combines the Russells' artistic talents in order to reach the spaces between ambient, techno & UK hardcore dynamics that few current acts are capable of reaching. Born of the brothers' collective creative impulse and staking out its own defined place in the contemporary landscape of electronic music, Overmono are firmly amongst those pushing the form into new and exciting places.

All of this is now also being explored in a live setting. Having made their debut at Krakow's experimental electronic music festival, Unsound in October 2016, Overmono will be performing a number of live and DJ dates throughout 2017.

Munich's Martin Matiske started his recording career at fifteen with his stunning ep Stars & Galaxy for DJ Hell's Gigollo Records back in 2002. Here he dons 4 fresh tracks for the Vivod label with his trademark electro sound, somewhere between Dopplereffekt, classical & wave. Kicking off the ep is Die Nibelungen, a sort of speak & spell classical piece with an electro backing track. A2 - Bayerischer Wald is a chord heavy majestic bomb in a 5/4 time signature, maybe a stretch too far for the linear techno dj but that's what makes this ep so interesting. B2 - Virtuosic Mechanic harks back to his previous work on Gigollo Records, a more club orientated track which should do some effective damage on the floor. Rounding things off is Kammermusik, a subtle electro ballad. If you like your electro with a heavy classical influence then this is your ep.

Electro meets techno EP with heavy remixes from long-time producer Umwelt and 50Weapons heavy-hitter Benjamin Damage. heart of a wild forest that grew on the post apocalyptic ruins of a shaved megalopolis in the 21st century. It was in this dark,
metallic penumbra, traversed by rays of light that dazzled the particles suspended in the air, that the procession advanced to the place of exorcism, a place which the priests called "power column."A2: The ceremony had begun and the vibrations were constantly increasing, the sound pulsations mixed with the industrial textures made the power transmitted by the priests rise - the patient began to enter the trance.
B1: The rhythmic cadence increased crescendo until vibrating the walls of this immense temple pushing little by little the patient in its most extreme psychological entrenchments. Above the building, a flood of lightning, thunder and torrential rain testified to the receptivity of the cosmos to the ceremony, Nature participating in the salvific emotional cataclysm provoked by exorcism. The cries of the patient mingled with the pulsed incantations of the priests, projecting the disequilibrium of the patient's soul into an ultimate effort to render the soul salvific.
B2: At the rhythm of the ceremonial cruise, the synchronicity of all the elements of the place reached such intensity that a sphere
of power resonated in the temple, in its bastions and in its surroundings, touching all living beings Were found, with violence similar to that of a salutary birth.

Coruscating cut-ups yanked still dripping and yowling from the belly of the beast. Dazzling and invigorating, scary and discombobulating.Psychic driving was a psychiatric procedure in which patients were subjected to a continuously repeated audio message on a looped tape, in order to alter their behaviour... often hundreds of thousands of repetitions of a single statement over the course of their treatment. They were also concurrently administered muscular paralytic drugs such as curare... The psychic driving procedure was a chronological precursor to Cameron's depatterning, involving massive doses of ECT combined with similarly large doses of psychedelic drugs like LSD. The intent was to break down the subject's personality — theoretically psychic driving could then be used with some efficacy in establishing a new personality' (Hanson Records).

Project STS-31-Spiralgalaxie (Hubble Telescope Series Vol.3) A clash of the Titans! Celebrating Solar One Music's 40th release and 10th anniverary, this split LP sees two stars under various disguises, Heinrich Mueller (aka Der Zyklus and various other projects) and German producer Robert Witschakowski aka The Exaltics, back to back in a no return odyssey through the depths of the Galaxy. As usual, the final chapter of the series dedicated solely to Hubble and all the great scientists and engineers at the NASA and ESA, comes with a beautiful cover print picture taken by the Space Telescope.

I was trying to sleep off an attack. But at 8am the tapping on the parquet was so distinct that the Veronal didn't work and I woke with the attack still raging.' Marie Williams played harp, though it was not the harp that dragged Proust from the fumes of a bedroom armed against asthma attacks, cork-lined to smother noise. Hammerings disturbed him, the banging of carpet fitters, crates nailed shut. Similar disturbances creep into his books periodically: the disagreeable' noise of a newly installed heating boiler, 'a sort of spasmodic hiccup', which nonetheless served on every re-hearing to revive images of misty landscapes caught in his memory and 'studied' during the first morning the heater began its work. From Quebec, With Love is the first EP from SLEAZY, a project from Stacy Boudreault (Marie Davidson) and Sam Paquette (Ginger Breaker). An ode to the rural and suburban Quebec experience, SLEAZY is the progenitor of Suburban Techno.

SLEAZY made their recorded debut in April 2017 with the single Que Calor, released as a limited edition cassette at a party headlined by Helena Hauff in Montreal. Sergey Sapunov aka Sapurra is a Moscow born and well known DJ in underground scene. He started playing records in mid 90's. Since then he's had releases on such labels as PRO-TEZ, Plant 74. Recently he's been losing some tech house so we picked it up.

Prototype 909 are legends of the New York City underground techno movement. They've been going through their DATs of previously unreleased gems and came up with this one, perhaps their oldest unreleased track that dates back to the sessions right after their debut release in 1993. Their sound was so unique that "Acid Kiss" sounds neither dated or futuristic... its a prototype of a sound only they can claim.

A man of many talents, projects and identities including Atom Heart and Señor Coconut, Uwe's playfully ironic and acid- tinged Atom™ moniker is perhaps the identity that most speaks to the New York dancefloors where The Bunker makes its home. J. F. Burma is a new analog synth project of Jeremy Berman, a longtime friend of The Bunker who we met via the forums of I-F's Cybernetic Broadcasting System internet radio station in the early 2000's. While living in Brooklyn, Jeremy spent many hours each week searching for undiscovered gems among the piles of records (and sometimes rat skeletons) at notorious Greenpoint crate-digging spot The Thing. Inspired and educated by the music he was finding, he purchased his first modular and started building synthesizers and modules in spite of his lack of training in electrical engineering. Currently, about half of his current Eurorack rig has been DIY'ed via trial and error.

Jeremy put out his first EP on Shaddock Records under the name Factory Aire in 2013 and it found a warm welcome from critics, DJ's and collectors. After a move to Los Angeles and the birth of his daughter, Jeremy's music production took a bit of a back seat and The Bunker New York is proud to release the Nomadic EP, his first record produced under the influence of a toddler. All three tracks have a very live feel as Jeremy draws most of his inspiration from interacting with the music machines during late night jam sessions: When I'm jamming out I tend to gravitate towards trippier vibes, which is just a reflection of my personal affinity for acid and psychedelic music.' The three tracks that comprise the Nomadic EP are the precisely perfect mystical outsider jams for those sunrises when a bit of human-modulated machine music is exactly what's needed.

Another smasher from Nous, this time courtesy of Cofaxx, AKA Joseph Magee and his boundlessly breathtaking 'Pico Vu' EP, a seven tracker that manages to cover immense ground and knowledge within a compact narrative. And each track is a mandatory component of this cleverly assembled story with startling standouts such as 'Dicey' a deep Detroity piece, layering into a Sound Signaturey space, while LA's seasoned producer Brown Irvin closes side 1 with a bolshier bash at opening track 'Tide Pool's ambient, semi-conscious swirlings. Over on the flip 'Velvet' is all golden era electronica stylings, early days Warp and Planet E on a lingering dinner date, while 'Shape to Fade in's smoky textures straddle irridescent sounds for a not-out-of-place jazzy backroom style builder.

'Great Many Arrows' is the 6th studio album from Damien Dubrovnik, the Danish duo of Loke Rahbek and Christian Stadsgaard. It is also the 200th release on their Posh Isolation label, marking 8 years for both the label and project. The label's inception came with Damien Dubrovnik's debut album, and since then the two have been inseparable. Without Damien Dubrovnik there would most likely have been no Posh Isolation, and vice versa.

'Great Many Arrows' is undoubtedly a high point in the varied discographies of both Rahbek and Stadsgaard. It is the most realized Damien Dubrovnik recording to date, and a standout in Posh Isolation's troves.

As a record, 'Great Many Arrows' manages to translate the intensity of the duo's often unrestrained live shows in to carefully crafted studio productions. Unlike the pair's earlier and largely electronic recordings, the compositions on 'Great Many Arrows' set organs, cellos, violas, wind and other acoustic instruments against the backdrop of an electronic landscape.

The new toolset is as apparent on the surface as it is in the enclosed detail, taking the project further from its noise roots than it has ever been. This is not to say that Rahbek and Stadsgaard have traded ferocity for formal constraint. It is rather the opposite. While 'Great Many Arrows' is certainly the pair's most 'musical' work to date, its veneer of accessibility might also make it their most terrifying.

The strength of the recording lies here in the interaction between the melodic, acoustic instrumentation and the bulldozing electronics. Moments of beauty and light are transfigured into utter chaos and rage, the mesmerising change an expression of the equal and opposite form's natural sway as it beckons and slips between its own passing.

'Great Many Arrows' takes its name from a historic archery competition in Kyoto, Japan, in which archers would shoot as many arrows as possible for a 24 hour period. On April 26, 1686, Wasa Daihachiro from Kishu successfully shot 8,133 out of 13,053 arrows, averaging 544 arrows an hour, or 9 arrows a minute, becoming the record holder.

Having returned from a three year hiatus with Inner Lakes's EP earlier in 2017, Vae Victis Records - the Italian label that has previously been home to music from Blawan & Analogue Cops, Chevel and Tessela - returns with a debut EP of post-internet Electro/Techno of the highest possible fidelity from mysterious collective Hype Killers.

Parrish Smith has quietly been making a name for himself over these last years with releases on Knekelhuis and Contort Yourself as well as with his projects Volition Immanent and Sige Bythos. We see him appear on L.I.E.S. in a strong fashion through four varied dense tracks. From slowbeat EBM to Belgium klang to classic Den Hague crushers this ep forges its own path taking these cues and putting Smith's unqiue spin on them. Heavy yet still possessing groove and hypnotic rhythm, damage will ensue if used correctly. Fresh stuff from this up and coming talent.

Three cuts of heady, cerebral bliss guaranteed to push any dancefloor a little further out into the interstellar,In Russell's hands, Clay Wilson's "E4" becomes a spaced-out stepper's delight. His rework of Romans' "Coptos" lets the acidic undertones of the original run free while snappy percussion holds focus. And while we're not one to pick favorites, Russell's remix of Zemi17's "Rangda," stripped to its bare essentials, is almost a purer representation of the original than the original itself, designed to lift a willing crowd into a trance state.

Hard edged metallic beat techno, Shawn O 'Sullivan picks up right we he left off on his last "This Coercion Pt.I" ep earlier this year. Again we get driving, sharp machine music not so far from the Birmingham school of the 90s sound with this latest ep. O' Sullivan has a knack with eloquently pummeling the listener as demonstrated here, the track Fully Automated being the perfect example as it airs out midway through taking a break from the punishment. Top stuff.

Coling Strange lands on LIES.. going hit hard, this one..
Collin Strange has a long and storied history in the New York City underground music scene of the nineties. From owning a record shop in the East Village, to working at distributers, to playing in bands of all sorts, to producing music alone, Strange was around at one of the most vibrant (and transitional) times in the L.E.S., just on the cusp of Guliani's culture crackdown which choked the life out of the city, forcing many to leave. Currently located in Seattle, Strange has picked up where he left off years ago plugging in the gear and churning out blistering acid cuts with a very D.I.Y. edge that brings to mind Drop Bass Network, Unit Moebius, or free party French acid of old. Coming full circle these tracks are completely at home on L.I.E.S. and will undoubtedly thrash any soundsystem in sight. Play at maximum volume for total disruption.

Born in New York and spending his formative years in the mid-West, Jake Reif has served time amongst some of the best, producing alongside both Mystic Bill as well as Reade Truth; releasing well recieved 12s on Rong Music and a break out remix on Snuff Trax in recent years. Back in the day you could catch Jake clocking hours working at Sonic Groove Records among a motley crew of heavy hitters whilst honing his talents.

Omar Di Bongo is an audio-visual project that melts video feedback from Hugo Saugier with two figures of french underground techno scene, Somaticae (In Paradisum, Tanzprocesz...) known for his dark cutting edge techno, and C_C (Small But Hard, Kvitnu...) master of no input mixer feedbacks, and savage analog industrial beats. Their music merges industrial music with tribal polyrythms, and makes us dive into a certain kind of psychedelia between hallucination and dementia. Reduced to the essence, their productions bring back techno to its core, the trance dimension, often fogotten in many modern musics of this genre.

Hainbach is the experimental electronic project of the German composer Stefan Paul Goetsch. Using modular synthesizers, tape loops and his voice Groetsch is able to excise the most haunting tones from his rig. These are laid out or the listener to peer into or to hold the shell to the ear. The sound is organic, microbial almost, rich with micro-details and texture like some sonic mold sporing out. Later some crystals form as recital of new age styles never quite realised, the fata morgana, a desert environment where the smallest gestures are noticable against such minimalism. A fragile and exquisite listen.

JASSS is an outstanding sound artist and DJ (playing resident at the Mannequin Records night in Berlin). Raw and pure, she returns with an instant-classic second single for Death Of The Machines. 'Es Complicado' is a percussive a-side driven track, a passionate industrial/futuristic wink to the past, while 'No Chanche' on the b side is opening a new path for her productions. The mind sick samples from the 1966 Bergman's masterpiece 'Persona' leave the track - as the movie itself does - in a climax wrapped by a variety of interpretations, moving from tribal new beat rhythms and ending into an acid nightmare. Titled, "The english beach" the album is a sonic portrait of the strange and barren east coast town in england, called dungeness. Known as the only desert in the uk, abandoned buildings and wreckage litter the landscape. Overlooked by a nuclear power station, it feels lost in time.

Created during time spent staying in a converted old fog singal building, situated right on the seashore of this desert landscape, this new album is the next step in the project, following the suburban hunting lp released on veronica vasickas label cititrax.

Exploring the empty concrete soul of this english beach, the
Twisted metal ruins and crumbling buildings are drenched in dread and drip with a very english desolate romance. Dungeness is almost the physical manifestation of the broken english club sound.

" Originally released in 1990 on Doremix Records, Techno Bert was the studio project of Robert Passera and Stefano Cundari, co-owner of Memory Records and mastermind behind some italo disco classic names like Hipnosis, Koto, Faxe. Stefano Cundari unfortunately died of cancer on the same year of the release.

Neue Dimensionen" was developed on Siouxsie & The Banshees's well-known guitar riff of 'Happy House', in a techno crescendo, where the duo would have enjoyed inserting as many samples as possible by stopping only when the capacity of the sampler Akai S1000 memory would be full. While Cundari cared for the sounds from the 48-channel analogue bench and assigned modular effects to the tracks, in studio there was also the musician Stefano Carrara who piloted the keyboards and the Notator installed on the Atari computer. The couple started the work by sampling the Human League "Being Boiled" groove, and built on harmony and melody inspired by Siouxsie & The Banshees with a Jupiter synth to which they added a low reinforcement obtained with a Roland TB-303. The drum set was based on Roland Tr-909 samples. The sample of the voice comes from "Herrmann Hiess Er" by Nina Hagen, cutting and pasting vocal fragments all around the track, from which they got the name 'Neue Dimensionen'.

Even though it was distributed by Flying Records, only the most attentive clubs talked about Techno Bert single. Apollo proudly welcomes the return of Gacha Bakradze (now recording under his full given name) to the fold with the 'We Must Be Woods' EP, five stunning tracks which represent his finest work since his debut Apollo LP 'Send Two Sunsets' in 2015. This has already been a great 2017 for Bakradze, with stellar releases on Fort Romeau's Cin Cin label and his own Transfigured Time imprint.

Georgia born Bakradze's music is a cinematic combination of beguiling melodies, exotic instrumentation and oceanic drones. Crafted in the autumn of 2016 'We Must Be Woods' sees a maturation and deepening of his sound - deftly programmed rhythms on vintage drum machines, eastern percussion and breakbeats underpin aching synth pads and gooey sub bass. Bakradze explores a range of tempos and moods, playing and recording kalimba, guitar and piano, weaving them into a captivating aural narrative which manages to both soothe and stimulate the imagination.

Gacha's ability to effortlessly fuse the the warm chords of Detroit techno and UK bass sounds with the dense atmospherics of shoe gaze, and the crumbling, analogue euphoria of krautrock is only growing with each release and should set expectations sky high for his forthcoming LP on Apollo later in 2017.=

Stijn Hosman and Hessel Stuut are the minds behind the exciting new live/electronica act Polynation. Based in Amsterdam, the
guys are fusing moods of drums and analog basses with techno, ambient and world music. Beside a hand full of strong productions shared on this debut EP 'Allogamy', Polynation is foremost an energetic live-act. With their set up, consisting of acoustic drums and lots of analog gear, they are always trying to start a musical conversation based on interaction with the crowd and improvisation via their live-approach.
Early 2015, Polynation released their first single 'Dew' on the XXV anniversary compilation of Atomnation. In August, new track
'Anther' appeared via SoHaSo, the rising label of the legendary DJ Nuno Dos Santos. The best of all is yet to come: this November Polynation this six-songs EP that shows all the vibes of what the guys are capable of. "Damp" is a downtempo house track with a very strong base groove and a track like 'Why You' is more uplifting, produced for the peak time moments of their live performance.

Roman producer (and a force behind MinimalRome label) Valerio Lombardozzi known as Heinrich Dressel returns to Barba with a second release for our label, titled "The Styx Swamp". Heinrich has a unique way of combining classic techno and electro sounds with elements from the beloved Drexcyan universe and John Carpenter leitmotifs, and making them come together in a manner that both moves your body and pushes your mind beyond the point of awareness. As with the previous record, "Lurking Underwater", here he pulls off the move with the same efficiency and without sounding like he's repeating himself. "Gray Slope", "Sailing The Nether Waterways" and "The Styx Swamp" are all quite moody and deep, rich with sound and thick with vibe. However, the tracks feel equally at home in 4 am techno situation and a heady afterhours affair. He truly is a master of crafting hybrids whose influences get so flawlessly embedded that it's hard to point them out. If that's not enough, "The Styx Swamp" got a treatment by Nigel Rogers aka Perseus Traxx, a multi-faceted producer and a mighty live act performer. Nigel stayed respectful to the original but made the original's bouncy groove into something more direct and reduced, while retaining the same feel conditioned by lead synth's hypnotic quality. We're known to give a little bit of extra love to our releases so (as all before) this one's pressed onto a heavy duty 180 gram vinyl and beautifully packaged in an original artwork by EmaEmaEma.

REPRESS ALERT : After landing his malfunctioning PX-4000 on the purple planet, Captain DMX steps out of the smoldering cockpit. After barely setting foot on the dusty landscape, the Captain is startled by deep thudding from over the hills. Dragging his oxygen pack with one hand and his atomizer with the other, he sets off in search of the other-wordly din. Over the hill his pupils adjust to the stroboscopic lightning and below him lies a sea of strange creatures moving together as one body. A cosmic sermon takes place under the three suns in the sky, mechanical and stuttered frequencies set a manic pace and drive the dark creatures back and forth. Captain DMX sighs a heavy breath and starts to descend into the fray....

Zomby, one of the UK's most enigmatic electronic producers, underscores his already illustrious succession of releases with his forthcoming EP 'Gasp!', released on Big Dada. Zomby's ability to effortlessly shift aesthetics across his career has firmly stationed him as a producer that can't be boxed.
'Gasp!' sees him altering his often jungle-driven sound yet again, furthering him as a sonic chameleon among an ever-increasing landscape of musical similitude. Utilising analogue equipment that was recorded live to a digital surface, he says, 'I was tired of too much digitisation and over-saturation; this is a work that represents a shift forward for me.'
The compact, three track EP is a relentless, hardware-driven behemoth of beats and breaks that fit somewhere between a chugging steel factory and a darkened dancefloor.

For the third installment of the FTP series, the tracks twist into darker genre territories. The compilation opens with Psygnosis, a nine minute acidic techno stormer beaming from the pineal gland of the reclusive New Zealand artist Matthew Brown. The track starts out with a simple hook, building intensity towards a crescendo of raining acid lines and 808 hi hats which resemble unsheathing swords, twisting form into hypnotizing insanity. On the B side, Draveng unleashes some comic mischief with Isogamous Skoliosapien, a frantic rave tune bursting out of the seams with jazzy drum hits and frantic chord stabs. It would be a good soundtrack for phantasms to dance to in a haunted place. Closing out the EP is the propulsive electro missile Nonstop, a track that whips into the air and spins like a jet powered boomerang. It is is the first release from the Finnish cyber-phreek Sansibar. Expect more to come from him in the very near future.

Over these eight tracks we get English's wide spanning take on the music touching upon elements of industrial on "Invasion Threat" darker ambient with opening track "Sanctuary" and even hints of Stinson on "Bilocation Drift". English's signature sparse and melancholic tone is present throughout again using minimal percussion and voice to glue it all together in a haunting fashion. Another engaging listen direct from the depths of the American underbelly.

Lanthan.audio, the German label founded by Christian Gerlach, now presents its fourth release with a double LP featuring Urbano. The Brazilian-born German-based artist delivers 10 tracks where he expands different facets of his production skills.
The LP contains several powerful Techno pieces to get lost in his hypnotic rhythms as in A2 'Illusion'. Urbano explores his rave-like sounds with industrial grooves in B1 and D2. C2 'Travel Inside Your Head' brings your mind into an acidic and loopy ecstasy combined with atmospheric cuts. Alter Echo / AKA Sound Secretion (Josh Derry), has spent the last fifteen years working as a dub scientist of the highest order and performed in the United States, Mexico, Canada, France, and Senegal. Creating a highly distinctive sound and collaborating with DJ Spooky, Lee Perry, Mad Professor, Scientist, Twilight Circus, Dr. Israel, and Systemwide, he often works as the 'Hidden Hand', perfecting and alloying disparate materials into completely new dub forms. Alongside E3, he was one of the founders of world-renowned future-dub label BSI Records, and has released music on ZamZam, Khaliphonic, Moonshine, Lava Lava, BSI, M Records, Six Degrees, Thirsty Ear, Sub Rosa, and Bangarang.

E3 (Ezra E Ereckson) is a producer, DJ, and co-boss of the ZamZam Sounds and Khaliphonic recordlabels. A founding member of Portland's pioneering agit-dub band Systemwide and the president of now retired BSI Records, E3 has been collecting records since the age of 13 and DJing for over 15 years. Past Portland residencies such as Deeper Roots, Bassism, and Atlas (one of the earliest and longest-running global bass parties in the US), as well as regular rotation at Various and now Signal, have cemented his reputation as a sonic tactician without boundaries, borders, or genre constraints - all of it is rooted in a deep love of reggae and dub. E3 has remixed Ishan Sound for Bristol's Hotline label, and has 7' vinyl releases on 45Seven, Bella Union, and Boomarm Nation, and has represented ZamZam from Echo Chamber in Brooklyn, New York to Subdub in Leeds, England.

Alter Echo & E3 have extremely deep roots in dub and are in high demand in the world of underground sound system music since their first 7', 'Kufic Dub' backed with 'Dub Is Not Easy," dropped on ZamZam in early 2013. Their signature productions have varied tempos with thick, heavy atmospheres, masterful dubbing, vinyl archaeology, and loads of sonic detail and intrigue. Whether floor-filling or abstract, the Alter Echo & E3 sound is unmistakable. Their second ZamZam release, 'Nubian Dub' backed with 'Warning Dub' created worldwide appeal, championed by selectors from Dub War to Joe Nice, Pinch to The Bug—and received a glowing 9 out of 10 in Mixmag. Both tunes spawned remixes on Khaliphonic from Ishan Sound, Egoless and DJ Madd. Tetrad is the dubstep and bass music project of L.A.-based musician, producer, songwriter, and DJ, Cheyne Bush. A lifelong musician, Cheyne learned jazz on saxophone and guitar in school, and punk and experimental music at home. Gaining experience as a youth, starting a band called Issue 89, playing a fusion of street punk and ska, and joining a metalcore band MidMourn on vocals and synthesizers, he turned to electronic music when he experimented with music software, tinkered with Ableton Live, and began listening to Aphex Twin, Autechre, and Boards of Canada. Cheyne spent his first year of college at Berklee College of Music and completed his Bachelors of Fine Arts in Music Technology at California Institute of The Arts (CalArts) in 2012 and a Masters of Fine Arts in Film and Video in 2015. As he developed his style and listened to deep minimal techno, a new sonic influence came from his burgeoning interest in 4x4 and 2-step Garage music -- dubstep, most specifically Burial and Shackleton. Discovering the Hyperdub and Skull Disco artists, and listening to early DMZ, Deep Medi, and Chestplate releases, Tetrad shifted his sound in this new direction. Following multiple collaborations with Brukha as Friendly Strangers in 2007 and LMNOP as Cybertooth in 2009, Cheyne started recording solo as Tetrad in 2015 and released a clutch of deep and weighty dubstep tunes Sure State in the United States and Heavyweight in the United Kingdom. Most recently, he released his vinyl début with the 7' single 'Awaken Dub' on Portland, Oregon's vaunted ZamZam Sounds label, and a follow-up 7" with newly debuting Bay Area label Material Sound with his tune "Eazy Street."

EAST4 is a crew coming from the East side of Milan, their mission is to propose a new concept of contaminated electro/techno stuff. Their influences are coming from the past, like Detroit sound and 80's breakbeat, looking forward to the new vanguard.

Moscow based Lipelis returns to L.I.E.S. under his TMO moniker this time in collaboration with producer Andy Butler. This gets straight and to the point harkening back to the Bleep days of old (think LFO or Rhythmatic as a starting point) and does major damage. Traditional 12 inch style with alternate mixes on the A and B sides, take warning this will fly.

Russian born Anastasia Vtorova is based in Berlin and makes music under the name Machine Woman. Prior to joining the Technicolour ranks, she has released two 12's - via the self-titled imprint of Swedish producer Peder Mannerfelt (2015) and UK label Where To Now (2016) - plus a handful of very limited cassettes via Sacred Tapes (2015), Tesla Tapes and Ono (2014).
