After a chance find of a DAT tape containing the vocal session for the classic 'Hardcore You Know The Score' by The Hypnotist, this EP was specially commissioned.
Remixes are provided by DISINTEGRATOR, New York City based DJ/Producers Oliver Chesler and John Selway) and INNERCORE (Matt Teksteppa Wilkins).
The Digital release in 2019 will have more mixes but we decided to keep this EP as Hardcore and true to the spirit of Rising High Records back catalogue of the early 90's as possible

Soma proudly present the first in an exciting series of releases to celebrate 25 years at the top of electronic music as we turn to some of our favourite modern artists to reinvent some of the best from the back catalogue and up first is Envoy's timeless classic, Dark Manoeuvres. Originally released as part of the "Coalition EP" in 1996 (which also featured the classic Seawall), Hope Grant's instantly recognisable hit is still found in nearly every Techno DJs record box and has continually served as a beacon of Soma since it's release Four new versions are served up here as Dax J, Norman Nodge, Obscure Shape & SHDW plus Tensal all deliver fine interpretations of this Soma classic.

Dax's furious style is the opener as he uses the original chords as they were intended but all the time firing his concussive drum patterns directly to the dance floor. Ostgut Ton's Norman Nodge turns in a delectable dub version in only the way he can by keeping Envoy's original muted and delivering a subtle, introverted version. The duo of Obscure Shape & SHDW are next up and delivery one epic take on Dark Manoeuvres. The pair build the tension early, teasing the strings then unleashing an onslaught, adding their own beautifully led, string section before hammering home. PoleGroup's Tensal closes out our first Soma 25 releases, twisting and cutting the hook to suits his means as thunderous beats work away behind this solid tool.

With the launch of their white label series Haven is giving all the Keepsakes fans out there a very special treat many of them have been waiting on for a while. On 'Years Of Delirium Part 1' Haven is pressing Keepsakes' best loved tracks from his earlier digital-only releases on to vinyl for the first time.

Part 1 of this series sees the hottest tracks from his 'Stygian Concrete Works' (Sequel One Records) and 'Weapons Grade Manic' (Green Fetish Records) EPs finally available on wax. The A1 starts with 'Galso in Camo', firing off threatening synth lines, sudden drops and clanging drums in a tried-and-tested dance floor killer. The A2 follows with 'Easy Now', a hard techno and garage hybrid featuring gabber kicks and wonky bass that saw support from across the techno scene upon its release, featuring in Truss' 2014 Boiler Room set.

The B-side then turns to the best of Keepsakes' release on Australia's Green Fetish Records. The B1 kicks it off with 'Gumming', a frenzied acid banger that keeps stepping up the intensity to fever pitch with its driving drums and catchy 303 line. The B2 then ends the collection with 'Let Me See Your Teeth', another track that saw wide support across the scene, being a favourite of Bas Mooy's following its release, with it's crunchy, no-nonsense drum programming, hefty, sinister synth-line and crushing drops known to get any crowd that likes their techno hard moving.

Niclas Kannengiesser for two fresh originals and then have legendary electronic producers Swayzak and deeper than deep Greek talent XDB turn out some brilliant remixes.

Kannengiesser is a German DJ and producer who conjures up wide open and atmospheric spaces in the worlds of dub, techno and house and he has a true melodic streak that really makes his music stand out. To date he has already impressed on Sub:Circles but this new EP is another big step up.

The excellent 'Modulation' goes first and is a deep, trippy, spiritual bit of supple and soft rolling techno. Rippling chords and angelic keys all linger above a rubbery groove and thus ensure only the real heads will appreciate this one. Remixing is XDB, who has released on top labels like Dolly, Echochord and Sistrum and has a perfectly deep and dubby style. He uses it to great effect here and cooks up a fast paced and engaging dub track with icy hi hats and mysterious pads way off in the distance that suspend you in the groove.

Next up is the slightly busier, more propulsive 'Acquaintance', with soft hits, rich rolling drums and more late night chords that are rich and emotive. Its a truly classy track that is deep yet detailed and full of feeling. Swayzak then remix it twice and are a UK tech house pair who have had a long and storied carer. As well as mixing it up for the fabric series they run their own label and release on labels like K7, Minus and Rawax. Their first remix layers in more texture and pixel thin synths as well as slightly more forceful drums and the result is a real back room winner. The second live edit is bigger, slightly more brash and full of a darker, more prickly energy.

This is a great release with some fine originals and truly standout remixes from some of the best names in the game.

For this long-player, Mac has harked back to the good ol' days of analog, employing numerous vintage instruments to create a wholly electronic yet warm, soulful sound.

Marc's Detroit techno influences are ever present on this release, with more than a hint of that unmistakable 4Hero vibe. That said, there is something that makes 'The Third Adam' undefinable - is it house, is it hip-hop, is it beats, funk or electro Who knows - but that's what makes it so remarkable - it's in a genre all its own. There are few artists out there that can draw heart-warming soul from cold, dusty electronics like Marc Mac can.

Taking a brief detour from his normal abrasive distorted sound, Pinion showcases his broad spectrum as an artist with the Desire EP. The title track, Desire (Half Measure),starts out of the gate with a thunderous half beat 808 coupled with a swinging hihat pattern that slowly works ethereal vocal slices into the forefront, accompanied with a modulating synth pad that evolves into a defining melody. The sister track, Desire (Full Measure), has very similar characteristics as the original, but allowing a little more edge for the dancefloor to build on. The third original track, Recollection shifts gears quite drastically with a 135 BPM stormer with enough soul and melody to make the uncharacteristically fast tempo seem inconsequential. Last, comes Kyle Geiger on remix duties to round out the EP with a housier take on Desire, but still enough bite to fit nicely into any techno set.

From time to time, you hear an EP and instantly can sense that it s going to be significant. Sad Girl Seasonal Affective Disorder does what few manage to do - it tells us not only a story from different perspectives but describes the journey of the heart and mind when losing someone we love - the conflicting emotions when we hurt and the evolution of emotions we experience as we heal. It achieves this by using a rich and diverse collection of sounds as its vocabulary, and a brilliant integration and structure as its grammar. Also, this strategy manages to give each track its unique character, allowing them to stand on their own.

Following his 2017 solo debut EP, "Resisting in the Darkness", Tyler Dancer takes a step toward the light in his second outing for DBA, "62 Miles High".

Written in Hasselt, Belgium, "62 Miles High" finds the Shake-collaborator drawing upon his Detroit and Midwest influences to reveal another page from his sonic journey.

Side A is characterized by techno of two great Italian artists: Marco Effe who has released his music on international labels such as Cocoon, SCI + TEC, Cecille and many other, and the duo System of Survival (Fventi Music managers) which have productions on labels like BPitch Control, Rebirth, Get Physical etc.The B side is characterized by the tracks of two Vilena artists: the first is Andrea Spadazzi aka Andrea Speed, who with his "Daphne" consolidates as one of the best artists of our label, the second track has signed by Incept which closes this vinyl.

Hugely DJ-friendly 4 tracker, as Ctrls, SP-X, Jerome Hill and Bodyjack step up to the plate. Ctrls' "Breaker" is one of his most aggressive tracks to date - clinically produced, but with an energy that is about as clinical as a bull in a china shop. SP-X keeps the intensity high with the banging, warped groove of "Mine Smelter" - featuring a creaking riff that is soon met by a host of unruly lead sounds. Jerome Hill adds his trademark shuffle and synth wobble to the Chi-town workout of "Wormface", while Bodyjack slows things down, injecting house swing and snappy, repeating rhythms into the distinctly big-room "Keeping The Wolf From The Door".

Stefanik is a phenomenon! On the one side he is that crazy-cool party animal with amazing DJ-skills. His DJ-sets feature a wide variation of techno-, house- and minimal tunes all mixed up in a fresh and easy way that almost no one can escape from. On the other side he is this über-talented producer who sometimes doesn't sound like his DJ-sets at all. On his recent album for Cocoon Recordings Stefanik painted musical pictures of different moods and for different moments. A soundtrack for people living in the modern club world of cities like Berlin or London. Days of joy and sun vs. grey and cold mornings or foggy and dusty club nights, there was something for everybody and every moment. However with his new release on Cocoon Recordings Stefanik proofs how versatile he is as a producers by creating a vibe that refers more to his DJ-sets. Stefanik melts down different club music ingredients to one unique mix here. We hear influences from Detroit, Chicago and Berlin mixed up in identical quantities. Deeper house meet masculine basslines ("Signs") and pitched-up Inner-City-like-beats merge with driving hi-hats and chopped up vocal-samples before the whole arrangement receives a proper 90s UK-styled synthesizer-polish ("Illuminations"). This is big, this is pure and it breathes energy. Thanx Mr. Stefanik for this nice mix-up of 25 years of house and techno however all sounding fresh and modern. This only works with technomusic kids!

Second Release for La Chinerie's Comic Sans imprint. For this one we invited two brothers Antoine & Matthieu for a split work dedicated to the famous Tekken game.

First side is Antoine's which only ability at the game was to spam his opponent with the now very famous "dragon kick" technique

Second side is Matthieu's (aka $turmtruppen 1917) who has always been fascinated by Yoshimitsu's hability to commit suicide during a fight.

Keysound Recordings are proud to present an EP from one of the UK's most exciting production talents, Otik.
The EP consists of four original productions on vinyl 'Top Ten', 'Latex', 'Notion' and 'True Level,' plus on the digital a refix of 'Top Ten' from label co-owner Blackdown 'Top Ten.'. Collectively they are weighty contributions to the space emerging between techno and bass music currently being forged by labels such as Timedance, Hessle Audio, 3024 and Ilian Tape. 'And Keysound of course haha...' adds Otik. 'I've been very inspired by these labels'. 'I'm based in North East London but I'm originally from Bristol. I've been producing since the age of about 15 but didn't really get into UK dance music until the age of 18,' he adds. In recent times, Otik's released on 17 Steps, Dusky's label, DEXT Recordings, Durkle Disco, Push & Run, Tessier-Ashpool and Infinite Machine. He will also be releasing on Nous Disques later this year.

Club Excursionista de l'Electrònica discovers a new trail, this time featuring British producer Pliny aka James Welsh. The "Countdown EP" is the third release from C.E.E. and is comprised of four powerful and energetic tracks that demonstrate Welsh's remarkable studio talent (his social networks are brimming with videos dominated by analogue machines). The EP was produced, almost in its entirety, using instruments and hardware effects, a process in which distortion and purest 303 acid lines form fundamental elements of its structure. Welsh's method of manipulating sound is truly unique; he is capable of agglutinating house, old-school hardcore, techno and even IDM, within the same track. James Welsh is already an established figure in the electronic music scene, under his own name, through his project Kamera and as a regular stalwart for the Phantasy Sound record label, headed by none other than Erol Alkan. Welsh's new Pliny pseudonym has allowed him to explore his more melodic inclinations, while remaining attentive to dance floor needs. The "Countdown EP" represents a personal journey that is palpable in each of these exceptional tracks.

This is the 7th release on RIOT Radio Records, an independent techno label based in Scotland.

Since 1989 The Horrorist has released over 80 12" singles and four full length albums. His massive discography adorns every elite techno label including Tresor, Industrial Strength & Neue Heimat. He's worked with the biggest names in techno including Miro Pajic, John Selway, DJ Rush, Frankie Bones, Chris Liebing & Radical G, releasing so many of techno's best & most well recognized tracks.

His albums including 'Attack Decay' & 'Joyless Pleasure' are renowned pieces of art and he's currently working on his 5th studio album.

This is the 2nd of many releases to stem from our 5th release 'STAY TUNED Sampler - Vol. I' whereby each artist on that compilation will be getting their own individual release. Track A1 on this 12' is taken from that LP.

This 12' release sees his 'RIOT' track being exquisitely remixed by Taser, Dave Tarrida, Neil Landstrumm and a blisteringly apocalyptic speedcore mangling by Stickhead. The full digital release features additional remixes by Kamikaze Space Programme, Kenny Campbell, Duellist and Ayarcana.

This is a new series of tracks from the late 90's mid 2000's that went under the radar and we are bringing them back.

Featuring 4 tracks of deep Techno, the 'Circular' EP is both
the debut solo-EP from Belgian producer, and one half of
GoldFFinch, Gilles Renneson and the first release on the
pair's new label Transitional. Whilst Gilles has to date remained a character in the shadows, preferring the warmth of his studio to the lights of the scene, the 'Circular' EP reveals a producer with an unerring ear for what works on the dancefloor. Fans of GoldFFinch's previous releases will find much to love in the minimal, yet constantly evolving, electronic music on display here. Tracks like the EP's eponymous title track and 'Each of State' not only show a deep understanding of Techno but also betray Gilles' fascination with genres as disparate as dub and psyche rock, whilst 'Kontrol' nods to GoldFFinch's early UK Garage influenced productions with its taut, shuffling beat.
Completing the EP is a remix of 'Circular' by Swedish producer
Bleak whose own productions display a similar fascination with
the use of space in Techno music to GoldFFinch. The result
here is 6 minutes of chthonic dance music where spectral,
industrial sounds echo off into the night, underpinned by a
driving beat and relentless percussion. The debut release on GoldFFinch's new label, the 'Circular' EP represents a new beginning for the pair. Despite releasing acclaimed tracks on labels such as Innervisions, Dirty Bird,
Turbo, Exit Strategy and Fuse Music, and being named as one of
DJ Mag's 'Artist to Watch' in 2016, Gilles and his long time
musical partner Yoann Janssens found themselves at a
crossroads in 2017, both creatively and professionally.
Rather than just plough on regardless Gilles and Yoann decided
to completely re-evaluate their approach to music production
and rebuild their studio from scratch, investing in analogue
equipment and stepping back to re-think their entire creative
process.
After a year of silence they have now launched their own
label, Transitional, a new home to release both their own solo
and GoldFFinch productions with the first 4 12's ready to roll
out over the coming months. In addition to the label they have
also partnered with Brussels techno institution FUSE to launch
a quarterly club night under the same name that has so far
featured appearances from the likes of Ben UFO, Pangaea, A/C/
R, Etapp Kyle and in September hosts Ostgut Ton's
nd_baumecker.

I am sure that Ilija Djokovic is one of the newcomers who will have a great future as producer. His tracks always transport a special kind of feeling which touches me a lot! Soulful techno at its best. And on top the rework of Olivier Giacomotto who gave Pandora a nice driving vibe. (Monika Kruse)

JoeFarr and his label User Experience are pleased to welcome a very talented to the roster, Insolate. The artist formerly known as Miss Sunshine is a DJ, producer, label owner and promoter who has been in the business for 20 years and considered as one of the best techno artist's from Croatia. The two original tracks ride a perfect balance between groove, power and emotion. JoeFarr does what he does best and turns out a killer remix.

Jasss makes her head and body-turning album debut with Weightless, an absorbingly stark and spiky set of industro-dub concerns riddled with heavy inspiration from African rhythms, jazz and concrète electronics. After a trio of acclaimed 12's for Berlin's Mannequin and Amir Alexander's Annunaki Cartel since 2016, iDEAL now give Jasss room to consolidate and expand her grizzled dancefloor structures to a full length episode that brutally dovetails with Joachim Nordwall and co's unforgiving but compelling take on contemporary noise and industrial musics.
Very much an antecedent of Spanish industrialists such as Diseño Corbusier, Xeerox / Krishna Goineau, or Mecanica Popular/Randomize, Jasss firmly builds on that heritage with a uniquely pensive balance of percussive suss, synthetic bite and reverberating spatial dynamics that makes her music heavy-as-sin and deliciously deft with it, patently forgoing Industrial music's angry guy glare in favour of far more feminine and latinate pressure systems.
She does so with an aching, puckered patience in the opener, Every Single Fish In The Pond, escalating from a lone cymbal motif and location recordings to a pulsating darkroom boldness by the end of an incendiary scene-setter, before really getting her fangs in with the clenched but driving EBM torque of Oral Couture, recalling a spiked Toresch or CTI hovering at the darkroom's entrance.
From here on in a dream sequence of events take place, morphing from febrile, hash-induced triplet pirouettes in Danza thru the martial free jazz/industrial cut-up of Cotton For Lunch, to a definitive apex of sprung, stepping cybergoth in Weightless, with a pause for Alberich-like reflection on Theo Goes Away, but the voodoo rises once again with the druggy swagger of Instantaneous Transmission of Information, and her stoic, blunt-edged mauler, To Eat With Dirty Hands.
It's rare to hear industrial music done with such variation and individual distinction as Weightless, making it shine in a field so often associated with greyscale and monotone signatures..

All things come from and return to the same source - such is the theory of Monism; an ancient philosophy, but also accounting for the music of Jeroen Search. Dictated by an ethos of exclusively recording live takes and the only ever editing happening while a tune is being created, each finished track is imbued with that unique magic of the moment. Such too is the nature of Monism, Search's first LP in over two decades of electronic explorations and personal as well as artistic growth. As with any of his music that has been released so far, the tracks on here hold a timeless quality, existing within their own frame of reference than - that is their immediate experience. Across a carefully arranged course, the album naturally unravels its many ideas, ranging from moments of pensive ambient pieces to thick washes of dub echo and layers of modulated synths, all while providing an endless array of hypnotizing bare-bone grooves in the process. A true Figure mainstay, Jeroen Search upholds his artistic relevancy without any reinventing or switching up the formula - rather by simply keeping true to his accomplished craft.

Part 3. Phil Merrall + Traditions... Music Speaks For Itself! Underground anthem alert...

Delsin turns to this classic from 1992 EP by Random XS. Originally released by Saskia Sleger's legendary Djax-Up Beats-label. This re-release features the original a-side - a hypnotic vocal acid anthem that has become an absolute classic of the genre - remastered and re-cut, meaning that the infamous gap in the original is no longer there. The b-side has two new remixes from Lost Trax and Delta Funktionen resulting in futuristic, electro tinged, twisted versions with crashing hits and famously busy basslines bringing real warehouse energy.

The Aula Magna team presents the label's tenth release, Rom by Seph, featuring Cosmin TRG as remixer. A modern and energetic EP that showcases the artist's unique techno sound: deep, robust & daring.
Lead track Rom kicks off the record in breakbeat manner, an epic cut that twists its sounds progressively through distorted percussive and melodic riffs. This is followed by Cosmin TRG's tribal take on the title track, a mind-dazzling and hypnotic reinterpretation.
Two techno highlights from Seph's latest live sets thrust the B side even further into the dance floor. Inner warps its solid rhythmic core through swirling dub noise mayhem and P+1 ends the record with a steady synth chord that evolves throughout the track on top of a powerful, stripped down beat.

The official track has amassed 100 Spins at UK radio including plays from Danny Howard, Pete Tong and KISS FM. It has amassed over 1 million streams since launch and is growing at club with huge support from the likes of Ritchie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Richy Ahmed, Lee Walker, Gorgon City (Prospa Mix) and many more

Tech House heavyweight Deetron is hot off the heels of a jam packed 2018 touring including 19 countries over the year. He is highly regarded within the scene and has a Dj Kicks and Fabric Live compilation to boast among credits.

Prospa are one of the hottest tipped Dance acts for 2019. Their underground smash Prayer has had 48 spins at Radio alone since release and is flying at the moment. Their mix of Just About was premiered by Pete Tong on Radio 1 and this is the unreleased extended mix.
Kideko provides a huge sounding house mix of Just About that had already had 10 spins at KISS FM.

Drumcode returns with its 6th installment of the internationally celebrated A-Sides series. Renowned for fostering a shared space between industry tastemakers and rising talent alike, the careful curation that goes into each volume is a fine example of why Beyer's brand continues to go from strength to strength.

Techno titan Adam Beyer has grown Drumcode into a force to be reckoned with; the label has become synonymous with forward-thinking, functional techno and even after 20 years, Drumcode continues to find new boundaries to push, and ways to solidify its legacy as the world's number one techno label.

2017 is no exception, with Beyer's imprint hosting it's first stage at Tomorrowland, not to mention the expansion of the critically acclaimed Junction 2 where the Drumcode stage is the centrepiece and Adam plays the key role of festival director. The Drumcode phenomenon continues to grow each week, chiefly fuelled by Drumcode Radio, Adam's radio show that's broadcast in 57 countries via 86 stations and to a global audience of 16 million techno fans per week.

The A-Sides series acts as a perfect vignette of Drumcode's cutting-edge sound; functional yet inspired techno, all tracks tried and tested by Beyer himself. Vol. 6 continues this tradition with a collection of 16 multi-faceted cuts from a mixture of both emerging artists and experienced label friends.

The heart-throbbing bass in Amelie Lens' electrifying piece 'In Silence' sets the tone for the dark and dance-floor-ready energy that Vol.6 carries the whole way through. Other standouts include Mars Bill's rough'n'ready 'Mohave'. Pulsating and precise, 'Mohave' has highlighted many of Beyer's sets recently as has Wehbba's monster track 'Fake', which fans have been anticipating the release of all year.

Since opening their digital doors in 2009, Lucidflow has built up quite a following of admirers; luminaries such as Slam, Hernan Cattaneo, Joris Voorn, Vince Watson, Steve Rachmad, Laurent Garnier, Dubfire, Guy J and many more have checked in since inception to get a piece of the action. With Lucidflow defying convention and going analogue in the last year, it makes sense for them to tap into their pool of friends and admirers for the latest in their vinyl releases. Nadja Lind & Friends is a collection of works with some of the Lucidflow family and a chance for long time supporters of the esteemed Berlin based imprint to own something more tangible.

There is no finer way to kick off than with Saharan Night, a collaboration with scene legend and veteran Brendon Moeller. A veritable production machine, his dub heavy sound is a natural fit with the Lucidflow sonic template, the deep and bubbling tones an ideal counterpoint for Nadja's sharp and swinging beat programming.

Quintin Christian made his Lucidflow debut back on LF039 (MoodWarp, Quintin Christian and Vandermeer's Illusion) and gets his chance to rub shoulders with the Lucidflow co-owner on Place Of Bliss. Significantly lighter in mood than Saharan Night but no less deep, breathless tension is the theme with field samples conjuring up the mood of middle eastern twilight. This airy mood counterpointed by the deep and bassy vocal sample that runs through the track.

Staples of DJ boxes worldwide don't come recommended more than tracks and remixes from Chris Lattner. If this is a name you are not currently acquainted with then just look at the support from DJ's such as Kerri Chandler (on his recent Watergate 15), Nick Harris (head of the sadly shuttered NRK, who featured a Lattner remix on the farewell NRK compilation) and Hot Creation's Richy Ahmed (who plucked a Lattner release for the exceptionally current Rinse mix series). Here, on Drifting Elements, Lattner keeps things skeletal, swinging the beats and letting the dub chords chime out.

To tie off the release, Nadja provides a standalone moment in Berlin All Day Long. Crafted after a seriously demanding tour schedule, it is the glorious return to the mothership. The huge and cheery dub chords provide an instant hook to a track that feels both Germanic and like it is hitting the vibe of classic New Jersey house in equal measure. Smiles all around guaranteed on this flourishing 12' series.

Don't be fooled by the ominous title, it's a family affair this one! Simina Grigoriu teams up with sibling Moe Danger and life partner Paul Kalkbrenner on the Shark Island EP, with K-Paul on remix duties and a special appearance by the label's youngest member, Paul & Simina's daughter.

The title track sets the tone with throaty vocal chops that add mystery to its clacking percussion and devilish synth lead. The effect is an intense build up, with the tension gradually released in the second half, by the way of dreamy synth arpeggios that lighten up the overall mood.

Kalkbrenner applies a staccato feel that tilts towards a more bouncy version of the original. Giving the track new life through a novel melody, it evolves into a deeply affecting piece, as its pulsating rhythm keeps the energy at a constant high.

You might know K-Paul as the electrifying half of the 90's dance duo Lexy & K-Paul, a trait that applies to his production style, as well as in his remixing effort for Shark Island. With a more enigmatic, hyper-gradual release technique, this particular remix unveils jarring electro synths with brooding countermelodies.

Certain Creatures (born Oliver Chapoy) currently resides in Brooklyn, NY but has a career dating back to the early 90's. He has roots in the Miami hardcore scene that evolved into post-rock and even electronic pop (Warm Ghost). He began exploring electronics as Certain Creatures in 2013 with a 12" on Styles Upon Styles with guest vocals from Stuart Argabright which led to Oliver producing the 2014 Black Rain comeback record on Blackest Ever Black. In 2015, Oliver created a lush and enthralling LP Vipassana, also released on Styles Upon Styles. For this particular release for Transfusions, Oliver sought to step out of his production bias comfort zone by recording live takes with minimal editing and production in order to maintain a dirty, raw, haze-filled warehouse aesthetic. Mission accomplished! The 12" contains 5 tracks total of uncompromising techno which we are ecstatic to unleash on the world. Presented on classic 160gram black vinyl in our Transfusions 12" sleeve. Bryce Hackford, part of one of the most daring DJ crew in NYC (Deep Trouble), true purveyor of a certain New York club culture legacy (think Arthur Russell) and author of 2 acclaimed albums, came to Joakim's studio and after a few hours of live synth and drum machine jamming, JHACK was born. I would describe this as 'psychedelic voodoo house music'. But it's up to you really.

ESHU Records hits release number ten with a new EP from the in-house production collective made up of Jocelyn Abell, Ivano Tetelepta and Daniel Lekatompessy. Fraktur features six tracks of stripped back house and techno that are all atmospheric and heady. Opener Winter Track is a smooth and rolling dub techno number that is grainy and economical yet hugely absorbing thanks to its circling synth details and woody drums. Creating Moods is even more expansive and spacious, with gently swirling pads enveloping a soft, broken rubber kick drum. The title track is another expertly distilled, dry and heady groove with its frayed edges and warm analogue feel, then 'Hello' really flips the script with over driven Jeff Mills kicks and intergalactic synths bring a spooky sci-fi feel to proceedings. Yorubaland is then a cosmic ambient interlude with fax tones bleeping and blipping as lazy pads smear out in the background and last of all Core comes on strong with more quick and slick intergalactic techno carrying you off to some distant planet. After more than a decade of exploration, Kundi's first release remarks a new beginning of the artist, a newly born label, and a platform for merchandising music.
Hovering between melancholy and melodic hopefulness with Kundi's techno signature, Passing Strangers' unfolds into a 3-track LP. The triangular composition was inspired by "The Color Wheel Theory of Love" — a theory created by a Canadian psychologist John Alan Lee to describe different types of love.

Replacement Duty, representing a loner's longing for connection after long hours of sleep deprivation, enters with a plain sound and clean definition as the track evolves the wandering leads and progressive bass-line hits the composition.

The Color Wheel brings the mind back to more familiar, safer places. A long-awaited attempt at restoring conventional ways, its unveiling bassline puts the senses back to rest from dismays, confusions, and sparse feelings.

Los Angeles-based artist False Witness drops three rapturous cuts on E-Missions EP entitled 'Red Curtain Daybreak', featuring a deadly remix from Berlin's Henning Baer.

Real name Marco Gomez, False Witness is an artist, producer and DJ from Boston who's spent recent years making a name for themselves in New York as a respected resident at Venus X's iconic club night, GHE20G0TH1K; their own monthly series at Bossa Nova Civic named In The Dark; not to mention releases on labels like Bastard Brigade and Lit City Trax. An artist creating genre defying dance music, False Witness now appears E-Missions, joining a varied roster of quality artists such as Rush Plus, Tred, CYD, as well as label co-founders P.Leone and Caiazzo.

Featuring three very different sounding originals, 'Red Curtain Daybreak' sets out to soundtrack Gomez's experience of the new light and space movement within the Brooklyn underground. The title track is a fast and furious techno roller with relentless drums and a hypnotic lead. Named after Lauren Berlant's constitutive theoretical work on neoliberal desire, 'Cruel Optimism' offers respite from the chaos with a contemplative projection of post-euphoria.

On the flip, 'Devil May Cry' reworks the same elements of 'Red Curtain Daybreak' into a peaktime techno roller with a sinister bassline. Finally, German producer Henning Baer concludes matters with a hypnotic remix of 'Devil May Cry' featuring a captivating rhythmic arrangement.

After previously appearing on Thema's digital series back in 2016, Gabriella Vergilov returns to the label's vinyl arm with a set of distinctive hardware techno reuminations to send shivers down your spine. "Termosfera" strides in confidently with a grinding mechanical synth hook that subtly shifts around the 4/4 drum pattern like all the best wormhole techno should. "Siempre Loco" is a sparser affair that focuses on space and poise, using minimal ingredients for maximum effect. "Boring Shit" bucks against the suggestion of its title to fire off a set of rhythmical cycles that feel indebted to the vast outer reaches of space. Detroit hero T-1000 runs with this idea and pings the track into a particularly funky star system somewhere very far away from planet Earth.

Play It Say It welcome a trio of top talents in Luca M, JUST2 and Atapy for a new EP featuring four fresh dancefloor tracks that are destined for big things.
Romanian Luca M is a real techno talent who counts mainstays like Marco Carola and Richie Hawtin as fans. From Suara to Terminal M, he has released on the most vital labels and runs his own Get Funky Music in collaboration with JUST2, who he works with here on three of the tracks. A fellow Romanian of equally international repute, he can lock in a dancefloor for hours on end.

Opener 'Acid Ghetto' is a masterfully slick house track with electrifying synths and restless, non-stop drums. The whole thing races along and sweeps you up with freaky vocal sounds, whirring machines and bendy pads that are as heady as they are dance friendly. The excellent 'Restore' is a supple groover with an elastic bassline and bright piano chords that will twist and turn the dancefloor out of shape and. Next up 'Bechamel' is more stripped back, with a dynamic deep house feeling permeated by dark chopped up vocals and the sort of slippery rhythm that hypnotises the whole club.

The final track is from JUST2 & Atapy, a producer who has been making his mark since 2010 on the likes of Get Physical and working with artists such as Noir and Louisahhh!!!. Their 'Levels' is a perfectly bumping house track with rich, rubbery drums and tumbling synth chords that bring an off-kilter charm to the driving grooves.

This summer, Skint Records serve up a brilliant package of remixes of Midfield General's huge 1999 smash 'Reach Out' with Linda Lewis. The new remixes come from the one and only Crooked Man and feature vocals re-recorded by Linda in 2000 which were consigned to a draw waiting for the right person to use them. Crooked Man is that person, aka Richard Barratt, a uniquely inventive house and disco producer whose self-titled 2016 album on DFA was one of the most revered of the year. He has a knack for off-kilter greatness and has also released on Optimo Trax. Interestingly, he and Midfield General both worked together on Zebra Face, a cartoon about a hip hop obsessed Zebra and his diabetic side kick for Channel 4. The show featured voices from Kid Acne, Jarvis Cocker, Roots Manuva and Lady Chann amongst others. It also turned out that Midfield General was a huge fan of the Crooked Man album before realising who was behind it, so got in touch ask for some remixes.
The results are 2 typically unusual new dance floor bombs.
The classy Remix #2 is down and dirty, with warped bass twisting and turning underneath metallic drum hits. The vocals are more aloof here and lend the whole track a feeling of effortless cool as synths gently undulate and carry you late into the night. Another standout effort, Remix #3 is somewhere in-between. It's an airy track with driving house drums and hits, and elegiac synths that bring real dynamism and musicality to the track. It's clean and soulful in design and one to bring the whole floor together as one.
These tasteful remixes have emotion and groove to spare.

Rebar, the duo behind the >made of CONCRETE Rebar Rebar Rebar 1< sees a versatile three piece assortment with a seemingly common theme. Field recordings make ample appearances in Rebar s work and this release makes no exception: a large part of the elements were recorded in and around train stations of a famous metropolis. First of the year on Butter Sessions sees label heads Sleep D return with their first solo EP since 2017. Two unclassifiable, deep and euphoric bangers come out of the woods with elements of techno, idm and bass music.

Opening up the record we have 'U+Zone' a sweet and heart warming electro-cosmic force that takes inspiration from the deep ocean and the stark, spacious landscape of outback Australia.

Emerging on the flip, 'Centro' turns the mood to the darker side with it's eerie chords and choir harmonies, held together with a monstrous drum and bass rytm designed for the freaks and geeks out there.

Krym Mryk, a young record label based in Crimea, was started by Stas Karpenkov with a DIY approach. It all began when Stas approached Ildar Zaynetdinov (Gost Zvuk Records) with music of his own. Back then, Ildar used to host the RADIO GOST broadcast, presenting new electronic music from Russia, and Stas's music made it onto the air. Eventually he issued a 7-inch with his music in November 2016, thus starting a label of his own. And now he comes back with a new techno/ambient 12 "inch includes a remix by Stanislav Tolkachev.

It s like posting selfies or continuously crying about the good old days. But you know what, while writing this - I'm sitting here on a wooden chair at my favorite pizza spot. The sun is shining and I m eating these damn delicious pizza margherita slices. I might get some tiramisu afterwards. I don't know. Dessert first some might say. Detroit duo Ataxia offer up their 'Kodak Moment' EP via Visionquest this March, accompanied by an edit from label co-founders Shaun Reeves and Ryan Crosson.

Eric Ricker and Ted Krisko aka Ataxia have been at the forefront of the contemporary house and techno scene for some time, racking up releases on some of the leading labels across the globe such as Leftroom, Nervous, Culprit and Play It Say It, making the duo one of Detroit's finest exports in recent years. Here we see them making their debut on Visionquest, the label of fellow Detroit natives Ryan Crosson, Shaun Reeves and Lee Curtiss.

'VHS' leads the package with murky synth swells, resonant synth sweeps and fluttering square wave bass tones at it's core as shuffled drums carry the ever-evolving hypnotic groove along. The original mix of 'Kodak Moment' follows, shifting the focus over to snaking bass lines, mind-bending, modulating synth whirrs and dynamic, choppy percussion throughout.

Reeves & Crosson's 'Edit' of 'Kodak Moment' then rounds out the release, stripping things back to ethereal atmospherics and shuffled drums whilst subtly stirring in the original's hooky bass groove as the interpretation unfolds.

In 1990, raising their voices over the sound of Neuropolitique's 'Mind you don't trip' Sebastian S. and Mike DMA (Direct Memory Access) met, breaking the ice by swapping opinions on LFO and 808 State. They later went on to create the first live configuration of BWP Experiments (Bad Woofer Posse Experiments, for more info see basicmoves), and produced dozens of tracks together which, for the most part, were live takes and remain unreleased. Only
a few made it out into the world, and to this day have stayed well under the (discogs) radar:
Our Techno Theory' was put out on an 8-tracker cassette by Research and Development,
while only two productions 'Escape' and 'Pay your taxes' were pressed on vinyl for the same
imprint. Now Sebastian S. (aka Caustic 14) returns to the label with two previously unreleased tracks
found in his personal archive. 'Excalibur' was produced in tandem with Mike during the last
session the pair ever did in Sebastian's studio (Z'ha'dum) in 1996. It's a vibrant hommage to
their common passion outside of music: Sci-fi. This track refers specifically to the series Babylon
5 , which was a revolution in the genre, and the first tv series to outdo Star Trek (the intergalactic
reference since the early 1960's). The idea of being 'united against darkness' was key to the
series, and the motto remained essential for Sebastian, Mike and Deg's music productions,
collaborations, live shows and dj sets. The influence of what had been a passion since
childhood can be felt in their sound: unconsciously they had dreamt up the soundtrack to their
own space journey. The second track 'Cliffhanger', a solo production by Sebastian S., is a dig from several years
earlier (1994). The Detroit influence is strong here, yet the signature Caustic 14 "space opera"
melodies hold their ground and shine out.
We are very proud to propel this Belgian electronic music heritage out into the world.

from 2012-2017 archive, all often anonymously on air on his
own late night radio-shows broadcast from the small
country studio. A sleepy invisible bridge between outskirts
and metro-cities. All tracks also aims at telling about the
small southern IT countryside visions and sounds where Kill
Ref comes from.

Spatial Cues is a series of split singles sounding out main(void)'s and Kon Janson's shared musical space. Operating out of Berlin and London, the two artists join forces to showcase their mutual vision of techno music. CUES004 accelerates the series to 133 BPM and ramps up intensity with thumping kick drums and uncompromising arrangements that revolve around ceaseless chord stabs. With its hypnotizing chord pattern drifting in and out of arced echoes and subtle shifts in timbre, CUES004 A's haunting atmosphere radiates a surreal sense of weightless pressure, paradoxically soothing and violent at the same time.
Based on a divergent theme that contrasts upfront chord stabs and ruthless 909 cymbals with easeful pads and finespun textures, CUES004 B builds up to a transition that disrupts the deeper elements with a stripped-down pattern, fully carving out the track's inherent grittiness.

For the second release of their own imprint "Rapid Eye Movement", Memorial Home heads the way and signs an opus chock-full of profoundly personal character, high sensitivity and forceful refinement.

D.A.N.C.E. (Detector for Advanced Neutron Capture Experiments), the various artists series of the label, comes back with the italians Ness, Luigi Tozzi and the french Underjack. On the a-side with "TMB" Ness turns a robotic rhythm in a dark electric / industrial infected tunnel. LuigiTozzi's a2 Blood Meridian' strikes soft under an oppressive butterfly effect creating an intense flow. Underjack on the b-side delivers a nebulous groove that is responsible of a eight minutes of immense hypnotic techno cut with energy drums and crispy bassline.

Taking it back to the old school and manufactured in the space of 5 week, this handmade nugget of black crack beat the previous release and all it's issues.

Dr Spaventi once again provides the expert mastering to some artisanal Yorkshire electronics from Northern Powerhouse.

The full range of frequencies have been lovingly captured and set for eternity into nice and solid, hand pressed plastic before being bound in gorgeously minimal white paper "inners". Adding individual nuance to each and every record, is a stylised image of the visionary York philanthropist, Joseph Rowntree. Details of which tracks are which are lovingly incorporated into this image using a black ink to stand against Mr Rowntree's brilliance. In the studio Prototype 909 was a group that rarely agreed on a clear idea of exactly what they were trying to accomplish. The entire project was an experiment, and every time they hit record there was nothing better for them to do than to just try stuff.

Whenever it came time to put together an album they would go through what they had recently done and nd the tracks that seemed to fit together well, or that at least sounded like they were made by the same group. That left on the cutting room foor some really amazing worst that somehow just didn't 'fit" their goals at the time. At Schmer, we remember. P-909 leftovers have Schmer written all over them...

These four tracks were all recorded live in the studio in between their three studio albums 93-97. Brenecki ( half of Ontal ) provided his remix inspired by one of them.

"Hyperdrive" and "Datafash" were recorded shortly after Acid Technology was released in 93. They come from the "lets make Acid Technology Vol 2 approach'. That would have made a really cool record had they done it but they decided on making Transistor Rhythm instead. "ANOISE-NYC" aka "The Tracs that Dietrich Hates" is what you get when you let Jason go nuts on a Doepfer MAQ-16
( they never made that mistake again ). "Bobo" is possibly the most prototypical P-909 tracks ever: it took three guys making their own tracks simultaneously almost ignoring what the others

were doing but somehow mixing them into a flow to make this one, but it all comes together nicely in the end. Its amazing that they never released it before.

XGLARE (all caps), is Jessee Egan, a Brooklyn-based producer, sound designer and multimedia artist. She has released music under multiple aliases since 2011, most notably on AY Japan. Her latest incarnation, XGLARE, balances warped sound design, unearthly atmospheres and experimental rhythms that reject genre boundaries.

Representing Brooklyn in full force on the debut record, 'Morph EP,' XGLARE yields incredibly heavy atmospheres. This is a mature record showing patience, design and a thoughtfulness sorely lacking in much of the electronic music scene. Beats and dance elements take center stage alongside impossibly powerful, almost elemental transitions. Track 1, Lymph sets the tone with an updated halcyon rave sound. Imagine standing in a field in the countryside at an illegal rave at 6 in the morning as the sun is rising, wind blowing in the air. Track 2 Fossa feat ARIADNE, an Opera trained singer, immediately submits you to whisper shouting, a highlight of the album. In between more dance floor-oriented tracks, Spore and Plexus, sit two sound design gems, title track Morph with its pounding rhythmic charges and vast reverberated rooms, and Ganglia, which reminds of early Do You Know-era Squarepusher. A well-rounded EP showing off the many talents of XGLARE also comes housed in beautiful artwork designed by Egan herself.

Ukrainian producer Yan Cook steps up for his second EP in a row on Delsin Records' Inertia series, the dancefloor focussed offshoot that is running since 2011. After recent outings on Soma and his own Cooked imprint he now brings his trademark spangled techno back to the label where he appeared for the first time in 2012. Once again it's sub shaking and room filling techno madness, shuffling percussion and rippling grooves made for the big floors and smokey warehouses.

Seth Troxler's Play It Say It label opens up 2018 with another release from the highly regarded Ataxia, who serve up their third EP for the imprint.The Detroit duo impressed with their previous outings on the label, The Supertouch EP back in July 2017 and The Acid EP in 2016. Since then they have also released on Leftroom and Nervous and continued their eight year residency at prominent Detroit venue TV Lounge. Their fresh take on Motor City techno often comes with flashes of acid and makes cyber punks Ted Krisko and Eric Ricker one of the most interesting pairs in the game. Opening up the essential EP is 'Quicksand', an immediately arresting and busy electro track with real machine soul. The bassline bubbles and boils underneath crisp percussion and emotive keys bring a sense of tenderness. It's a macho cut with robust drums and is sure to win over any crowd.
The fresh 'Hot Snakes' is a deep, menacing track with dark bass gurgling beneath the airy hi hats. Frazzled synths are dystopian and brain frying, and together the whole thing takes you into hypnotic territory with an intense sense of urgency that is impossible to ignore.Last of all is the freakiest of the lot. The brilliant 'Texas is the Reason' has circling bass that is warped and intriguing and will own any club, while the drums drive on and trippy keys are skewed and twisted up top. It's a truly intense record for late in the night that is sure to become a big tune.
This is an expressive and varied EP full of contemporary and innovative Detroit house and techno sounds and marks another step in the Ataxia story.

Following the release of his Projector EP earlier this month, Daniel Avery has enlisted revered London producer Four Tet aka Kieran Hebden for a remix of 'Quick Eternity', taken from the former's long-awaited second album Song For Alpha.

Hebden flips the warm, undulating synths and crystalline percussion of Avery's original in his own inimitable style, building shimmering, skittering flourishes before a pneumatic final half.

The powerful percussions build momentum as spacey synths explode into the mix. On the same tip, 'After Glow' grabs your attention with prominent crashing claps and scattered electro synths. Following Lo Shea's industrial 'Iterations EP', Dusky's 17 Steps welcomes the mysterious Polymod to the label family with a three track EP of club tools that draw on classic acid house and techno influences.

Hooked with a vintage '88 piano loop and tightly sprung bassline, opener 'No Other' has been ever present in Dusky's sets since the autumn - already inspiring multiple posts in a certain well-known Facebook ID group, as well as causing one eager ID hunter to tweet Dusky with home played piano videos of the main loop.

For all its catchiness, though, it maintains an understated approach that plays on dynamics and contrast - a driving club tool.

Taking a darker route but maintaining the intensity, 'TX' goes for the jugular with a looping surge of acid and rolling electro rhythms.

Completing the trio is the spacious 'PG1000' that joins the dots between '90s ambient, proto-house and Detroit machine music at its most dreamy.

Mental acid techno, that Nu Style, not too speed but still keeping that kind of Tribe feeling, Mental and progressive... unformated and hypnotik. Sweet pearl ! Must Have !

Rekids celebrates 10 years of Radio Slave's 'Grindhouse' with remixes from Len Faki, Slam, Obscure Shape & SHDW, Vatican Shadow, Markus Suckut, Lady Starlight and Special Request. First appearing on a release as part of Radio Slave's iconic 'No Sleep' series, 'Grindhouse' spawned multiple remixes from the likes of Dubfire, Danton Eeprom, Terrance Fixmer and Nic Fanciulli to become one of the biggest techno records since its original release. To commemorate this fact, Len Faki has produced two different reinterpretations in the first of four heavyweight remix packages.
'I didn't plan to go back to Grindhouse. It's a monster of a record and undoubtedly the biggest release we've had on the label, but after 10 years it seems right to revisit the track and also add some new versions from some of my favourite techno producers." - Radio Slave With Danton Eeprom's vocal resonating throughout, Faki's first remix features crunchy snares, ominous chords and shuffling effects before piercing synths come into effect in the latter half. Meanwhile, the second version rumbles forward with its undulating bassline, soaring atmospherics and echoing elements to round up two solid productions exemplary of the Figure founder's seasoned abilities in the studio.

Timely re issue of Reese's cult classic 'Just Want Another Chance'. One of techno's classic basslines that inspired a generation of DnB, Garage and Dubstep producers.

Originally released on Detroit's Incognito label, this re issue on Kevin Saunderson's (Reese) own KMS imprint and has been re mastered for 2014. Contains the original, dub and accapella versions plus a whole host of 'Rhythm Tracks' written by Kevin Saunderson on the B side for creative DJ's to play with.

Very cinematic, tunnel visioned & on-going arpeggiated synth-techno in two versions by Stiletti-Ana (half of Jesse from last years Twotinos LP on Keys of Life). A-side with steady kick and feedbacked percussions riding through a deep, analogic, cloudy and live drummed landscape. B-side highlights the scope with no drums, except the ever lasting cymbals.

July sees Radio Slave's Rekids invite Britain's renowned Swayzak to the roster with a Cold War themed release entitled 'Odessa Calling' EP.A name associated with quality, Swayzak's ability to retain their signature sound whilst producing across various sub-genres has cemented them a solid reputation since their humble beginnings in the 90s. Their impressive back catalogue includes six studio albums and appearances on labels like K7, M_nus, Curle, Ellum and Swayzak's own label 240 Volts, which was relaunched in 2017. Originally a duo comprised of David Brown and James Taylor, Brown has been helming the project solo since 2012. He now joins respected Berlin-based imprint Rekids with two inspired productions. 'Odessa Calling' is a mysterious track with hypnotic synths, mesmerising pads and enigmatic vocals that combine together to create a celestial aesthetic. On the flipside, 'Numbers Station' continues with the otherworldly feel employing shimmering percussion that wanders alongside a brooding bassline for a well refined finish to the package.

After his Beatport number one acidmonster - Tweezer", Aitor Ronda needs no introduction anymore. I was already in love with his productions a while ago, happy to have him now on Terminal M. Already last year I played - Loveration on my essential Mix for BBC1, and his tune - I Am That Light is another floorsmasher.

Up next on Amsterdam's Format label is a four-tracker featuring original cuts and remixes by Matrixxman, Echologist and label boss Juan Sanchez himself.

The fourteenth Format release is definitely one not to miss out on, as it offers material from some of today's most sought-after techno heads. Up first is Expiration, a joint effort from Matrixxman and Echologist. This one combines Matrixxman's signature bass and Echologist's one-of-a-kind dub techno flavors across a very trippy canvas. Format's Juan Sanchez follows with a dark and synth-heavy rework of the track. On Fokus, Juan displays a more melodic cut propelled by a playful groove. Closing things off, Matrixxman and Echologist turn Fokus into a crushing techno track filled with sweeping fx.

Format continues with another strong release that's destined to do the damage...

The essential Will & Ink label continues to keep up the pressure with a new EP from Museum aka Anton Pieete and Jeroen Liebregts. The pair have released on vital labels like Marcel Dettmann Records and Indigo Area and make some of the most robust and powerful techno around. Their three new tracks here come with a remix from resident label artist Yalessa Hall. Opener 'Silo' is an urgent groove with warped and rumbling synth lines and frazzled textures. It's sparse and industrial as it barrels along while 'The List' is much more wild. The drums flail around, the hits are off grid and the energy is restless and rugged.

Lastly from them, '1500' has punchy drum programming and watery sound effects, sci-fi motifs and a sense of turbulence that will make a real impact in the club. The raw Yalessa Hall remix flips 'The List' into a freaky house track with smeared synths and big hits making for something incendiary and unhinged.

Hailing from a futuristic landscape where gravel, glass and steel rub up against tropical traditions passed down to street-savvy Third Culture kids, Prince Of Queens has made it his mission to synthesize NYC's trans-caribbean culture clash and turn it into something entirely unique: deep techno improbably sprouted from tropic disco; demented cumbia and merengue as imagined by a clever, glitchy robot; a nod to Detroit from a Colombian immigrant's point of view. Merecutek collects five new cuts cooked up by POQ in his Casa Del Indio studio, a dank den of blinking analog filters, resonators and sequencers that also happens to be the creative space of one Felipe Quiroz, widely known as the multi-instrumentalist holding down the low-end for Combo Chimbita, and who is whispered to have a strong resemblance to the Prince Of Queens himself. Mastered at London's legendary Carvery for massive bottom and crisp highs, this new maxi single from Names You Can Trust is positioned to turn out adventurous dancefloors and soundtrack urban headphone walkabouts. Tropical Past and Future is here now, if can you glimpse it in the shadows of Queens.

Hessle Audio's final release of 2018 sees London-based Shelley Parker debut on the label with the 'Red Cotton' EP. The tracks match skeletal breakbeats and looming sub bass with
processed field recordings from both her work with ballet dancers and echoes of Carnival fromher flat. Ploy completes the record with a signature percussive workout of a remix of 'Angel
Oak'. Released 23rd November on vinyl and digital.

Techno's arch, dark alchemist Juan Mendez rolls out a powerful 2nd Silent Servant album with 'Shadows of Death and Desire' , arriving some six years after his 'Negative Fascination' side
triggered a sea-change toward EBM and gothic sonics in a way that's never been felt more strongly. The album also features the unlikely reappearance of longtime collaborator and vocalist
Camella Lobo of Tropic of Cancer.
Over the past two decades the storied, L.A.-based producer has made his presence felt both by stealth and frequency. From his earliest work on LA's Cytrax thru his pivotal role on early Tropic
of Cancer releases and as recording and visual artist with Sandwell District, then later as the go-to-guy for fusions of post-punk, industrial, EBM and techno with DJ sets and releases as Silent Servant, Juan Mendez's myriad efforts have inarguably exerted an enormous influence over contemporary techno and dark electronics.
With his sophomore album Silent Servant presents an affirmation of his prowess with properly physical effect, wielding some of the most strapping arps, possessed vox and moody pads in his
catalogue. In contrast with 'Negative Fascination', its influential predecessor, the seven tracks of 'Shadows of Death and Desire' are defined by a toothier drive and bite, moving with shark-like
momentum thru ruggedest club functions while allowing little room for anything like beat-less reflection or downtime.
Locking in with 'Illusion', he pursues singular, writhing permutations of EBM, industrial and post punk moods; taking in slathering highlights with the agitated bruxism of 'Harm In Hand' and the rotor-jawed syncopation of 'Damage', along with the trampling drone-dirge of 'Loss Response', and the needling panic attack dynamic of '24 Hours', before drifting off centre with the glorious, swingeing torque of 'Glass Veil', and a swooning goth finale in 'Optimistic Decay' which sees mendez reunite with longtime collaborator and vocalist Camella Lobo.
Exquisitely rendered in-the-mix by Joshua Eustis, we can practically guarantee that if you fell for the first album, this one will push your buttons hard, too.

Bath-come-London party purveyors, Origins, take to channelling some of their creativity into the creation of their own Origins label. At the helm for the debut release is Bristolian up-and-comer Tommosini. Having heard Move D unleash the beauty of 'Another Dimension' at Freerotation last year, Origins knew they had to find out who the mastermind behind this deep house gem was....and the rest, they say, is history.

'Another Dimension' transports you through the galaxies via a combination of dreamy pads, crisp percussion, full-bodied bass and those sensual deep tinged vocals. Future classic in the making.

The A2 'I Don't Stop' carries on the U.S flavoured deep house with a vocal house track that wouldn't be out of place coming from the shores of Chicago masterfully intertwining a bumping bassline, soft organs and those introspective, luscious vocals.

Flip it over and you're treated to two interpretations of 'Another Dimension'. First up fellow Bristol bass badboy, Hodge, serves up a signature remix, chopping the vocals and layering them behind a pounding kick and machine gun percussion to give that bass heavy flavour he's become so well known for. Deadbeat steps up to close out the e.p. with a heavyweight techno rework of the original, complete with hypnotic bleeps, phased hats, and intermittent sub bass goodness, all tied together with a driving kick to give a real industrial feel to the remix.

If Osiris' recent releases have represented a rope that bridges the chasm that exists between various bass-heavy electronic sub-genres, this compilation of brand new material might just be the bricks-and-mortar upgrade to that bridge that marries them all into one cohesive vision. Proceedings kick off with Overlook's menacing take on Jungle — almost eight minutes of sustained preternatural tension in the shape of 'Former Self '.

Pessimist continues the journey with the sprawling 'Indigo', and moves away from his trademark pace to set the scene with repetitive, delayed stabs in the dark. Three tracks in, label boss Simon Shreeve steps into the ring, in his first outing as Mønic this year, to unveil the appropriately titled 'Stampede' — a marching, ferocious melding of industrial beats and distorted growl, pushed along by frenetic hi-hats before spiralling off the edge into a feedback-laden pit.

To close, Mønic teams up with Grebenstein. Picture the former's take on sepulchral atmospherics, married with the latter's mangled electronics, and you'll have a good indication of what to expect from this meeting of minds. 'Cutting The Ties That Bind' sees those hats return in the distance, but slows the pace for a largely ambient conclusion to this unique blends of musical ideas.
