Through 35 hedonistic highlights stretched across three volumes, Music For The Radical Xenomaniac delivers the first ever deep dive into The Netherlands’ colourful house sound of the 90s and the under-celebrated producers and record labels whose music soundtracked a countrywide cultural movement.

Plenty of books and documentaries have celebrated the riotous raves, legendary clubs, high profile DJs and promoters who shaped The Netherlands’ hedonistic house scene throughout the 90s. Music For The Radical Xenomaniac dares to challenge these narratives by shining a light, for the first time, on those who created the scene’s kaleidoscopic, game-changing and globally influential soundtrack.

Leading the charge were a disparate group of key creators who not only forged links with their counterparts in Detroit, Chicago, New York, Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom, but also became celebrated figures on the worldwide electronic underground (Eric Nouhan, Aad De Mooy, Orlando Voorn, Stefan Robbers and Steve Rachmad). Alongside key underground imprints (Stealth Records, Basic Energy, ESP, Prime and Outland Records included) and lesser-known producers, these pioneers gave flavour to a radical musical movement via open-mindedness, unheard-of creativity and a genuinely futuristic ethos. All of these artists and labels are represented throughout the series.

So, what defined this hedonistic house sound from The Netherlands? Stylistically, it was varied – as the series so emphatically proves – but was defined by a set of distinctive sonic characteristics: emotive musical motifs, high-frequency synth sounds, mellow basslines, pulsating rhythms and more than a touch of hallucinatory intent.

Volume 3 is packed with in-demand tracks and hard-to-find gems, including a previously CD-only cut from Dutch techno originator Orlando Voorn (1999’s ‘Still’), a genuine rave classic from The Hague by hardcore DJ Charly Lownoise as Fluxland, and a killer cut from prolific producer – and genuinely influential pioneer – Aad De Mooy AKA D-Shake. He’s represented on this volume by Paradise 3001 cut ‘Surfin The Cuban Waves’, which first appeared on ESP Records in 1993.

Other highlights include Direct Movement’s ‘Natural Chemistry’, a sought-after slow house cut produced by Dennis Buné, who had an enormous impact on the Dutch house scene as Jaimy, and ‘Delphi (Rewaxed)’ by NYX, a highly regarded and hard to find single from former new wave and synth-pop producer Bart Barten, and occasional studio partner Hanz Meyer.

Packed full of forward-thinking 90s gems remastered for today’s dance floors by Alden Tyrell, Music For The Radical Xenomaniac Volume 3 is a life-affirming celebration of a distinctly Dutch musical movement, whose rich textures and melodies are still inspiring new generations of DJs and dancers today.

Garçon Voyage is the first single in French from Courrier Sud's upcoming EP on Délicieuse Records. The song paints a fresco of that special and unsettling moment at the beginning of a relationship when one of the two falls in love, but isn't sure if they'll be loved in return. Because Hold, Jack Tatum's fifth album under the moniker Wild Nothing, was written in the aftermath of new parenthood during the pandemic, it was probably inevitable that it would be searching and existential music. But during the recording process, the artist known for synth-pop tastefulness used it as an opportunity to reach for a new sonic maximalism and wider set of influences. With contributions from longtime collaborator Jorge Elbrecht, Tommy Davidson of Beach Fossils and Hatchie's Harriette Pilbeam, first single "Headlights On" features an acid house-worthy bass groove and breakbeat that prove Tatum is playing for the rafters. Tatum produced the rest of the record on his own, partially out of necessity, due to the challenges of the pandemic. The songs were eventually brought to Adrian Olsen at Montrose Recording in Richmond to begin recording drums and filling in the gaps. While largely a product of isolation, Hold also reflects the things Tatum has learned from collaborators, both on previous records and during his acclaimed work with Japanese Breakfast and Molly Burch. The rest of the record was mixed by Geoff Swan, who listeners might know for his work with Caroline Polachek and Charli XCX. Swan put Tatum's vocals high in the mix, and throughout the album, he embraces playful vocal processing like never before. Tatum moved from Los Angeles back to his home state of Virginia about five years ago in search of a scaled-back lifestyle. The relatively suburban environment - and the occasional regret it inspired - proved to be great artistic fodder. It's the paradox of modern America - the suburbs are supposed to be stultifying to art, but they are so full of human desperation perfect for dramatizing. On "Suburban Solutions", he presents an anti-jingle with an acidly bright synthesizer melody, imploring you to sign on the dotted line, put your feet up, and embrace sweet oblivion. Adding to the song's menacing cheeriness is a chorus-sung bridge, made with assistance from Molly Burch and Tatum's wife, Dana, It was loosely inspired by the classic Martika song "Toy Soldiers" and the long-ago pop craze for children's choirs, and he embraces the trend's less-than-stellar reputation. By design, Hold dwells in uncertainty and fear, but in a package that encourages meditation and a bit of fun. "In the face of the pandemic, I think being a parent really forced my hand," Tatum said. "I felt that I had no other choice but to have a positive outlook on the world. Because if I were to give in at any moment and say, "Oh, everything is horrible," then I'll feel as if I've lost and I've given up on my son being able to thrive in this world."

In Anlehnung an den psychologischen Horrorfilm aus dem Jahr 1960, der Patton zu dem Namen inspirierte, entstand PEEPING TOM in einem Modus Operandi ohne physische Nähe. Patton schrieb Songs mit einer Wunschliste von theoretischen Kollaborateuren im Kopf und hoffte dann auf eine Antwort in Form eines fertigen Tracks.

Das Album enthält auch Beiträge von Amon Tobin, Bebel Gilberto, DubTrio, Kid Koala, Dale Crover, Rahzel und einigen von Pattons Freunden aus der Bay Area, wie Dan 'the Automator' Nakamura und Jel, Odd Nosdam und Dose One vom Hip-Hop-Kollektiv anticon. "Somewhere North of Nowhere" ist ein geradliniger Prog-Song mit einzigartigem Bridge-Teil. "Underneath the Orphan Moon" ist eine düstere Ballade über ein Teenager-Mädchen, das einer schlimmen Situation entflieht. Der stimmungsvolle und cineastische Song erinnert an einen klassischen Elton-John-Song, mit echter Streichergruppe. Paisley Park Enterprises, in Partnership with Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Records, announces expanded reissue of Prince & the New Power Generation’s multi-platinum album Diamonds And Pearls. This 12LP+ Blu-ray features 47 previously unreleased tracks and over two hours of live filmed concert footage in high definition.

Following the successful release of the 1999 Super Deluxe Edition (2019), and Sign O’ The Times Super Deluxe Edition (2020), the Diamonds And Pearls Super Deluxe Edition represents the third deep dive into Prince’s vault. It includes a total of 75 audio tracks across 7x CDs and 12x 180g vinyl records.

The set offers a newly remastered version of the album, plus 15 of the incredible remixes and B-sides from the era, including the never commercially released “Gett Off (Damn Near 10 Min.)” mix. The Super Deluxe Edition also features 33 previously unheard studio gems from Prince’s Illustrious vault, ranging from alternate versions of album tracks to numbers Prince gave away to other artists, and songs recorded while on the road in 1990.

Prince & The NPG previewed the Diamonds And Pearls Tour at Prince’s Minneapolis club, Glam Slam, on January 11, 1992. The sweaty, sold-out, last-minute show captures the sheer joy and sense of endless possibility that came to define this era. This previously unreleased live concert performance has been mixed from the 24-track master and rounds out the audio content of this 12LP set.
This same previously unreleased concert is also presented in stunning 2K video on the Blu-ray disc that accompanies both Super Deluxe Edition formats, in Stereo, 5.1 Dolby True HD, and Dolby ATMOS audio formats. The Blu-ray also features Prince & The New Power Generation’s performance at The Special Olympics at the Metrodome in Minneapolis in July 1991 (also in Stereo, 5.1, and ATMOS), as well as a previously unseen soundcheck.

The Blu-ray is completed by the long out of print Diamonds And Pearls Video Collection, originally released on VHS and LaserDisc in 1993. The 120-page hardback book which accompanies the SDE set features unseen photos by Randee St. Nicholas, and essays by: author & broadcaster Andrea Swensson; Archivist and Senior Researcher for the Prince Estate Duane Tudahl; British music critic and Prince expert Jason Draper; De Angela L. Duff, an Industry Professor at NYU Tandon School of Engineering in Brooklyn; Social Media Personality KaNisa Williams; and an introduction from Public Enemy founder, Chuck D.

Available for the first time outside of Japan, the album comes in a limited edition of 500 copies worldwide with a 45 rpm cut providing full audio pleasure and an iconic record sleeve featuring the movie director and star: the one and only "Beat" Takeshi Kitano!

Violent Cop marks Kitano's directorial debut - a gritty neo-noir in which he stars as a rogue detective fighting a sadistic crime syndicate, only to discover widespread internal corruption in the police force. Poetic, minimalistic, with a superb balance between small soothing moments of beauty and vertiginous sudden violence, the film spearheaded a superb international career for the multi-talented filmmaker, actor, and comedian, which includes works such as Sonatine, Hana-Bi, and Battle Royale. The release of the soundtrack on vinyl presents an excellent opportunity for fans to explore the musical underpinnings of one of Kitano's earliest creations.
Daisaku Kume, known for his work as the keyboardist for late 70s fusion bands T-Square and Prism, showcases versatile musical prowess on the soundtrack, taking listeners on a sonic journey through a blend of genres including magnificent Erik Satie re-interpretations, melancholic smooth jazz sometimes reminiscent of Taxi Driver, ambient-classical, and modern Western atmospherics. It's the perfect setting for Kitano's stoic but tormented lonesome urban cowboy character. Raw power mixed with timeless elegance.

Violent Cop (Original Soundtrack) by Daisaku Kume follows the recent release of the soundtrack from another groundbreaking Japanese movie, Shin'ya Tsukamoto's Tokyo Fist (1995), with music by industrial visionaries Chu Ishikawa & Der Eisenrost, also currently available on WRWTFWW Records.

Die erste Single heißt „Angry“! Sie erscheint am 8.9.2023 auf Maxi-CD und 10inch mit etched B-Seite.

Sie wurde vom GRAMMY ausgezeichneten Produzenten Andrew Watt (Iggy Pop, Ozzy Osbourne, Miley Cyrus) produziert. Begleitet wird „Angry“ von einem Musikvideo, bei dem Francois Rousselet (Nike, Diesel, Pharrell Williams) Regie führte und die Emmy nominierte Schauspielerin Sydney Sweeney (The White Lotus, Euphoria) die Hauptrolle spielt.

In den letzten Jahren haben die Stones immer wieder auf ausverkauften Welttourneen Rekorde gebrochen und 2016 mit ihrem Grammy preisgekrönten Album "Blue & Lonesome" die Albumcharts auf der ganzen Welt angeführt. When punk arrived in late 1976, the scene acted as a catalyst for an explosion of independent labels which swiftly sprung up around the UK. Named after a classic track by Manchester’s The Drones, ‘Just Want To Be Myself’ boasts classic sevens on imprints such as Small Wonder, The Label, Rough Trade, Dining Out, Deptford Fun City and Cherry Red (all London), Zoom (Glasgow), Attrix (Brighton), Heartbeat (Bristol), Good Vibrations (Belfast) and Bent (Manchester).

Many of the individuals and bands featured would later enjoy success in various incarnations – for example, The Pack mutated into Theature Of Hate, The Outsiders’ Adrian Borland attracted acclaim with his band The Sound, ‘O’ Level’s Edward Ball made an impact with various acts including The Times and Leyton Buzzards evolved into pop combo Modern Romance!

Modernists loved the latest R&B, blues and soul sounds coming from US cities such as Chicago, Memphis and Detroit and when British groups started playing their own interpretations in clubs and dancehalls they gained their own mod followings, their music remaining popular on the mod scene today.

Side 1 of this bespoke collection spotlights the British R&B scene and features a founding father of British blues Alexis Korner with the rare ‘Taboo Man’ alongside ace mod tracks from The Bo Street Runners, The Others, Mickey Finn and The Blue Men (featuring a youthful Jimmy Page on harmonica) and more.

Side 2 starts with British R&B groups developing their own sound by turning up their guitars, employing distortion, feedback and fuzz pedals to take the music in a new direction. Highlights include the Joe Meek produced ‘Crawdaddy Simone’ by The Syndicats (described as proto punk because of its ferocity), The In Crowd’s snarling ‘Things She Says’ and The Artwoods’ fuzz drenched mod favourite ‘I Take What I Want’ featuring future Deep Purple organist Jon Lord on organ.

Denny Laine (later of Wings) sings with The Moody Blues calming things down with some soulful beat.

Side 3 focuses on UK soul music - Rod ‘the mod’ Stewart backed by The Brian Auger Trinity takes on Sam Cooke’s ‘Shake’, the godfather of ska Laurel Aitken proves he’s also a natural soul man with his floor filling version of The Mar-Keys’ ‘Last Night’ and the amazing Barry St. John sings the funky ‘Gotta Brand New Man’. Popular club acts Lucas & The Mike Cotton Sound and Carl Douglas & The Big Stampede would regularly bring the house down at mod clubs and also feature.

Side 4 includes mod club dancefloor smashes from The Spencer Davis Group and Rupert’s People (AKA mod group Fleur De Lys) while mod heroes The Action go psychedelic with ‘Look At The View’. A moonlighting Jeff Beck of The Yardbirds plays on John’s Children’s ‘But She’s Mine’ and there are brilliant singles revered by freakbeat and psych collectors such as Double Feature’s ‘Baby Get Your Head Screwed On’ and The Drag Set’s ‘Day And Night’.

Rarities from The Trendbender Band and The Union (featuring Elmer Gantry) appear on vinyl for the first time.

Producer Tom Thiel has worked in the medium of electronic music since the 1980s, been active in the musical epicenter of Berlin since 1987 and with the Sun Electric duo, he was already at the forefront of live / “real time” electronica since the 1990s.
Incidentally, Sun Electric are set to release an archival live set from this period on Arjunamusic later this year.
Though not everyone becomes exceptional on the basis of “veteran” status alone, Thiel’s latest work shows that he has made good on one of the main promises held out by electronic music and sound synthesis: namely, that it would also provide unexpected, novel, highly individualized syntheses of different attitudes, atmospheres, and affects. This is happily the case with Thiel’s new Arjunamusic release (his first full solo outing since his eponymous 2011 album): it’s a series of colorful, self-contained vignettes that are perceptibly drawn from an eclectic pool of personal

Two visionary maestros, Pierre Bastien and Michel Banabila, unite in their first collaborative album, Baba Soirée. The veterans of electronic music bring their unique expertise to the table, resulting in a captivating fusion of experimental styles. Bastien’s mechanical loops and experimental instrumental setups merge seamlessly with Banabila's sound design and impeccable skills of sampling collages. It's not a dance party, nor is it an avant-garde intervention. It's a soirée: a cultivated evening of sonic alchemy hosted by these two charismatic gentlemen.

Pierre Bastien is a composer and multi-instrumentalist with a background in French literature. He has spent decades crafting an idiosyncratic world of experimental sound with his self-built mechanical orchestra Mecanium. It was most notably showcased in audiovisual releases on Aphex Twin's Rephlex label. Bastien's creations are a mesmerizing combination of traditional instruments (he has a vast collection) and mechanical automatons. The violin in the track Rotomotor, for example, is physically played by one of his machines. In Baba Soirée, Bastien also plays a prepared cornet (Slow Dance, Banbas Aura), infusing the recordings with a breathy, dreamy dimension.

Michel Banabila, a sound artist, composer and producer, possesses an eclectic musical repertoire that defies genres. His seamless blend of minimal electronica, tribal ambient, and neo- classical influences has earned him a prominent place in the world of experimental music, and an impressive discography (Knekelhuis, Bureau B, Séance Center, a.o.). Banabila serves as the creative sampling editor for Baba Soirée, expertly weaving together the recordings to craft an evocative sonic tapestry.

The two share a curiosity for traditional instruments from various cultures. The instruments used in the recordings are shown in the cover artwork. A mutual admiration for each other's work paved the way for this fruitful artistic partnership of the Rotterdam-based artists: Collaborating on a single as a fundraiser for Yemen in 2022 set the stage for the creation of Baba Soirée.

For Pierre Bastien, Dada, Fluxus and International Situationism have played a significant role in shaping his artistic vision. The title Baba Soirée is an homage to Kurt Schwitters and Theo van Doesburg's "Kleine Dada Soirée" collaboration which took place exactly a century ago. There's an unmistakable stoicism and an anarchic not-giving-a-f*** attitude in these recordings by Bastien & Banabila, which resonates in the light of this Dada reference.

Die Songs wurden von Barbra als einige ihrer Lieblingssongs während ihrer Karriere ausgewählt. Keiner dieser Titel ist auf früheren Streisand-Compilation-Alben erschienen. Die für EVERGREENS ausgewählten Lieder haben nichts mit Verkaufszahlen oder Auszeichnungen zu tun. Sie wurden von Barbra ausgewählt, um ihre emotionale Verbindung zu diesen Melodien und Texten zu veranschaulichen, da jeder von ihnen einen besonderen Platz in ihrem Herzen und in ihrer Erinnerung einnimmt.

Combo Aspik is a session band project founded and led by musician, producer and DJ Magic Manfred. The bass player teamed up with some of Berlin’s finest session musicians to produce a self-titled debut album fusing live music and club culture. The tunes are heavily influenced by Boogie and Jazzfunk of the late 70s and early 80s such as the music of Bernard Wright, Don Blackman or any underground Disco gems.

Techno House Connoisseurs are back with another storming EP of various artists for dance floors worldwide. This V/A features some big hitters in Phoreski and Felix Dickinson as well as San Diego's Terry Jasinto, Seattle's Lock and Hammer and LA's Praus. Lots of ground covered here with unusual and unique stylings in the realm of acid and cosmic.

Phoreski's Kyoto Dawn leads the way with it's deep and euphoric vibe floating along leaning deep and etherial in all the right places.

Felix Dickinson follows up with his remix of Phoreski's track bringing the 303/acid into the forefront building it into a monster chugger complete with droning synths and 808 accents. Look for a sweaty frenzy at the climax of the track!

San Diego's Terry Jasinto makes his THC label debut with a tech house gem that pumps and weaves with it's dynamic drums and synth stabs. With several nice subtle layers of acid throughout, it is perfect for a high energy dancefloor.

LA's Praus continues to produce deep and complex tracks for THC records showing he has an ear for unique programming. His release, "Heedful" quickly gets your attention delivering haunting synths and beautiful acid lines in the cosmic fashion only Praus can deliver.

Seattle's own Lock and Hammer rounds out the EP with an unusual and quirky burner that intrigues and delights in a wealth of analog glory. Built for a warehouse, the artist has let loose a track that will glimmer on any loud system doing a number on your head/psyche in the early hours.

NAVEL, das zweite Album der Berliner Band Hope ist eine Übung in Verletzlichkeit. Die vier Musiker*innen wagen sich hinter den Soundwänden hervor, die sie in der Vergangenheit um sich herum errichtet hatten, und zeigen, wie sie hinter den Barrikaden sind: sanft, nah- und fehlbar.
Das hat zum einen mit einer inneren Entwicklung der Sängerin Christine Börsch-Supan zu tun und mit der sich daraus ergebenden neuen musikalischen Richtung der Band. Wo früher Wut und Wucht war, ist heute so etwas wie Ruhe. An die Stelle von Monumentalität ist Meditation getreten. Erzählte das 2017 erschienene HOPE in seinem vollkommen eigenständigen dunklen, dystopischen Noise-Sound von Zwängen, unterdrückten Gefühlen und Gewalt, stellt sich auf NAVEL nun Heilung ein. „Solace“ singt Christine Börsch-Supan mit ihrer genauso klaren wie warmen Stimme im gleichnamigen Song immer wieder: Trost, Trost, Trost.Die Sängerin, auf deren eigener Gefühlswelt die Texte der Band basieren – und damit auch ihr emotionaler Klangraum –, hat sich in den vergangenen Jahren von einer Essstörung befreit und damit von der großen Wut, der anklagenden Haltung und dem Aufbegehren, die die Musik von Hope lange bestimmten. Mit NAVEL hat die Band nun eine Art Zen-Garten errichtet. Für NAVEL hat sich die Band von der Idee von Perfektion und Kontrolle verabschiedet und damit – schönstes Paradox – ein nahezu perfektes Stück Musik geschaffen.

WEB WEB führen mit ihrem fünften Album WEB MAX II die Kollaboration mit Max Herre fort, die auf WEB MAX (2021) begann. Dabei ist ihnen mit diesem neuen Album weitaus mehr gelungen als lediglich die reine Weiterführung einer Serie. WEB MAX II ist musikalisch und emotional die wohl vielfältigste Destillation dessen, was die ursprünglich im Spiritual Jazz verwurzelte deutsche Jazz-Supergroup in den sieben Jahren ihres Bestehens hervorgebracht hat.

Es ist Mitte bis Ende 1975, was von Big Star übrig geblieben ist, gibt es nicht mehr, Third/Sister Lovers steht im Regal und Alex Chilton ist in Memphis an einem Tiefpunkt angelangt. Chris Bell verbrachte einen großen Teil des Jahres in London und versuchte, einen Solo-Plattenvertrag zu bekommen, ging aber leer aus und flog im Spätsommer nach Hause, um seine Familie zu besuchen. Während er zu Hause war, nahm Bell bei Ardent weitere Solotitel auf, von denen einer, "You And Your Sister", einen Harmoniegesang brauchte, so dass er Alex hinzuzog.

Fans haben lange geglaubt, dass dies die letzte Aufnahme war, bei der Bell und Chilton im Studio zusammenarbeiteten, aber nur wenige Tage nach dieser Session waren sie wieder zusammen im Studio, wobei Bell eine Reihe von Demos für Alex aufnahm. Chilton nahm frühe Takes von "My Rival" (später für das Like Flies On Sherbert-Album umgeschnitten) und "All Of The Time" (später für die Singer Not The Song-EP und das Bach's Bottom-Album umgeschnitten) sowie die damals unveröffentlichten Tracks "She Might Look My Way" (das zuerst auf dem 1978er-Album Losing You To Sleep von Co-Autor Tommy Hoehn erschien) und "Windows Hotel" (das schließlich 2015 auf dem Live-Album Ocean Club '77 veröffentlicht wurde) auf. Leider war weder eine Zusammenarbeit noch eine wie auch immer geartete Big Star-Reunion geplant.

Seit 2015 vergriffen, kehrt diese EP nun auf 12"-Vinyl zurück!

Ursprünglich für Big Stars kultige "Third" (1978) aufgenommen, ist "Jesus Christ" zu einem ein Grundnahrungsmittel geworden. Was gibt es Besseres, um diese Zeit des Jahres zu feiern, als als diesen Klassiker auf Vinyl zu erleben - zusammen mit dem Geschenk von seltenem Material! Diese 12"-EP zeigt das Artwork der Heiligen Drei Könige von einem Promo-Plakat von 1973 Big Star-Promo-Poster. Zusätzlich zur originalen Albumversion, enthält die LP ein Demo von "Jesus Christ", das erstmals auf der Grammy®-prämierten Box-Set Keep An Eye On The Sky erschien, sowie sowie 5 seltene Tracks. Die Fans warten schon seit Jahrzehnten auf eine offizielle Veröffentlichung von "Another Time Another Place & You", das auf dieser EP erstmals als Record Store Day EP 2015 veröffentlicht wurde.

Zwei weitere unveröffentlichte Instrumentals kamen hinzu. Eine Demoversion von "Big Black Car" vervollständigt die Playlist. Das Vermächtnis von Big Star leuchtet weiterhin, und die Jesus Christ EP wird nicht nur nicht nur eine glänzende Ergänzung für die Sammlung eines jeden Fans sein, sondern ihnen auch nicht nur das, wonach sie gesucht haben, sondern lässt sie sich auch über das freuen was sie gefunden haben.

"Bring us the Head" ist unsere Liebeserklärung an das Kino der Achtziger und Neunziger, mit dem wir aufgewachsen sind", weiß Sänger Jens zu berichten.

"Während der Corona-Pandemie haben wir viele dieser Streifen "wiederentdeckt". Viele werden das nachvollziehen können - man saß zu Hause, hatte ungewohnt viel Freizeit, und dank der Streaming-Dienste kam trotzdem selten Langeweile auf.

Irgendwann sprachen wir im Scherz darüber, dass es doch cool wäre, eine Platte über unsere alten Lieblingsfilme zu machen... gesagt, getan."

Fans von Streifen wie "Terminator", "Conan", "Army of Darkness" oder "Escape from New York" werden somit ihre helle Freude an dem Album haben, für dessen detailverliebtes Cover-Artwork einmal mehr Besil Wrathbone verantwortlich zeichnet. Auch eine Cover-Version des Ramones-Klassikers "Pet Sematary" nahm die Band für "Bring us the Head" auf. Jens erklärt:
"Da wir den Song seit Jahren im Live-Programm haben, und er außerdem so wunderbar ins Konzept des Albums passt, lag die Idee förmlich auf der Hand."

Der neue Langspieler wird am 27. Oktober 2023 über Reaper Entertainment in den Plattenläden aufschlagen.

Die letzten 3 Alben im Katalog der Band werden zum ersten Mal seit ihrer ursprünglichen Veröffentlichung wiederveröffentlicht auf 140 gr. black Vinyl.

David Bowies siebtes Studioalbum " PIN UPS" ist in doppelter Hinsicht ein besonderes, denn nicht nur ist es eine Sammlung von Coversongs, sondern zugleich das letzte, das er als sein Alter Ego Ziggy Stardust und mit seiner Begleitband The Spiders from Mars veröffentlichte. Kommenden Monat jährt sich die Veröffentlichung zum 50. Mal - das Album erschien ursprünglich am 19. Oktober 1973, gerade einmal sechs Monate nach dem legendären " ALADDIN SANE" und drei Monate nach der berüchtigten letzten Ziggy-Stardust-Show im Hammersmith Odeon, bei der er zusammen mit The Spiders From Mars die Rolle des Ziggy zu Grabe trug.

Am 20. Oktober 2023, einen Tag nach dem Goldenen Jubiläum, wird "PIN UPS" in einer limitierten Auflage als LP im Half Speed Mastering veröffentlicht. Diese neue Pressung wurde auf einer maßgeschneiderten Neumann VMS80-Drehmaschine mit vollständig überarbeiteter Elektronik von restaurierten 192kHz-Mastern der Original-Masterbänder geschnitten, ohne zusätzliche Bearbeitung beim Transfer. October Road is the fifteenth album by singer-songwriter James Taylor and is one of the few albums by Taylor to feature only original material. Well, following that line, the music contained on Loving On The Flip Side music is too damn good to be anonymously relaunched, decades after musical visionaries blended the best of heavy funk and sweet soul into a unified whole. And simply telling the stories of these vocalists and bands without allowing their lovelorn pleas to be heard again wasn’t an option. Thus, Loving On The Flip Side again offers the enthused a chance to listen to, read about and reflect on another great burst of black American creativity: the creation of the sublime
genre we like to call “sweet funk.”
It seems laughable to skip past Thomas East’s “Slipping Around” 7” for the cheesy funk of ‘Just A Trip,” or to listen obsessively to Lou Ragland’s instrumental funk on the Hot Chocolate LP and ignore his indolent-yet-stirring “We Had True Love.” Yet we did just that, until we first heard the Darling Dears and Funky Heavy’s beautiful
two-sider nearly ten years back. This was the record that set Loving On The Flip Side in motion, as the Darling Dears and Funky Heavy’s two songs precipitated the sweet funk genre: the dichotomy of Funky Heavy’s skull snapping rhythm section and the teenage Dears’ angelic harmonies didn’t sound like anything we’d heard before. That discovery set off a decade long search for the band and culminated in their discovery, the documenting of their stories, the emergence of their master tapes and the inclusion of their songs on Loving On The Flip Side.
The excitement we felt while listening to the Darling Dears and Funky Heavy’s masterworks forced us back into the field, in search of other sweet funk swooners and beat-heavy ballads to round out this anthology. The opportunity to present anew such wondrous soul music made the exhaustive process that produced Loving On The
Flip Side worthwhile, and allowed us to collect one-offs that escaped prior investigations into the deep funk and sweet soul genres.

The DLW trio has been working together for twelve years now and is now setting the tone in the modern European music scene, as the trio has long since left the boundaries of jazz behind. DLW, that is the sound-painting vibraphonist Christopher Dell, the virtuoso Danish bassist Jonas Westergaard and the German star drummer Christian Lillinger.

Time and again, the three jazz musicians from Berlin play together with artists from classical or avant-garde music. "Supermodern"
is the project that brings the three DLW musicians together with US pianist Bob Degen. This music is also unikal. It is a reverence
to the legendary Modern Jazz Quartet (MJQ), which in the 1950s was the link between chamber jazz and European classical music.
With "Supermodern," this reference to the MJQ is illuminated from the perspective of European avant-garde music, rather than
its African-American roots, which nevertheless resonate respectfully throughout.
DLW has "developed a concept based on repetition and difference. The starting point for a piece is always a single bar, which is
rhythmically interlaced and repeated trance-like until the smallest irregularities occur, which are written down and creatively
processed further. From this "superimposed combinatorics" (Christopher Dell) a perpetuum-mobile-like sound movement
develops, which is further radicalized on record by sound alienations and cut-up techniques." Thus respectfully wrote the Neue
Züricher Zeitung in August 2023.
Word has long since spread outside the German jazz scene that the DLW projects are always musically new. This is also the case
with the double LP "Supermodern 2", with recordings made in 2021 in analog at the MPS studio in the Black Forest. Together
with US pianist Bob Degen, who has been one of the creative voices of the German jazz scene for about 50 years, they play highenergy music, with sparkling virtuosity and close communication. A musical treat, further enriched by the immensely present
analog sound of this recording.
