“My Love Will Set You Free” Final release? We see the question mark popping up over your head. Well yes, these four tracks are a time capsule, a historic cache which takes you back to one hot summer of 2019. When this care-free boy band formed and made it their goal to climb up the world’s stages to play an all-hardware live set & have f.u.n. while doing so. This endeavor went swimmingly. Festival gigs were pocketed and crowds intrigued. The stand-out track of their gigs was always “My Love Will Set You Free”, an acid-house stomper with uplifting, yet melancholic vocals from their friend ÆN.
Friends and neighbors were quick to re-interpret the song and the idea of a record took shape.
Lehult’s Lucky Charmz propels the listener into the void by upping the acidity. Closing in on a playtime of 10 minutes, we’re readily giving up our sense for time and space. Whirring drum hits meet feedbacking tape delay while riding the rock solid bass line.
Erobique liked the song so much, he quickly drew up two versions of his own. His “Disko Mix” oozes that saccharine, danceable magic mélange of days past. Warm keys, hand claps, and Aen’s intimate voice are stirred into an exquisite cocktail. You know that Carsten Meyer would never forget the umbrella on top. He’ll keep the cherry though.
The “Black Velvet Mix” closes the curtains for a slow dance. This is personal, it’s just between you and the song. Sub rosa.
In the meantime, Volker.live decided to follow separate paths of their adventure, but everyone agreed to release these songs into the world. Celebrating its 10 years label anniversary Permanent Vacation releases a top-notch package of 16 brand-new tracks by their main artists including John Talabot, Tuff City Kids, Mano Le Tough, Tensnake, Red Axes, Pional and many more. Plus special guest Joakim, who contributed the track 'Camino De La Luna'; paying homage to his classic remix for Antena's 'Camino Del Sol', the first big hit on the label 10 years ago.

But let's look back for a minute, because a lot has happened since Tom Bioly and Benjamin Fröhlich dusted off the mirror balls in Munich. Since the 1970s the city always had a reputation for being one of the world's disco capitals and Permanent Vacation took good care of this precious heritage being partly responsible for the new found love of Disco music and its variations such as BALEARIC, COSMIC, KRAUTROCK or PROTOHOUSE.
Back then Tom, who for several years had been working in the music business, was a regular at Play Records that was run by Benjamin, who had also been busy as a DJ and party promoter. Soon they became friends and discovered their astoundingly similar taste in music. The label name
PERMANENT VACATION also reflects the way the label came into
existence, since the its main concept was developed during pingpong
matches rather than at a conference table.
Already their first release, a compilation of the same name—'PERMANENT
VACATION'—, was celebrated as 'razor-sharp, pulsating, pornographic, all
fuses opening crazy pop' by one of Germany's leading daily newspaper
Süddeutsche Zeitung.
Taking off from here Permanent Vacation managed to become one of the
flagships of the new movement and had several genre-defining hits with the
reissue of Antena's classic "Camino del Sol" album (even the Pet Shop
Boys claimed it as an influence) and the accompanying remixes.
Next up was the album "Miss Diamond to you" by singer Kathy Diamond,
produced by the wild boogie wizard Maurice Fulton. This album was
followed by multiple releases worth mentioning, many of which can be
called modern day disco classics by now: Tensnake's 'Coma Cat', which
entered the UK top 40, Azari & III 'Reckless with your love', albums by
Swedish Italo princess Sally Shapiro and by Vienna heartthrob Wolfram,
Jacques Renault's remix of Midnight Magic's 'Beam Me Up', 40 Thieves
'Don't turn it off', Todd Terje's 'Remaster of the Universe remix collection'

The sixth release from Hong Kong/Tokyo label Palms & Charms sees the return of Barnaby Bruce, and starts with a tale of daring escape.Hearing the approach of a loping synth, the protagonist checks the window: mysterious people are gathering outside his house! As a somewhat Gallic groove emerges, he and his girlfriend are in his car and heading south, driven on by the swing of the percussion. Will he find his deliverance On The Continent
Next up, Ruf Dug steps in with a spacious electronic reggae-esque remix, leading up to a killer piano line which pushes the groove straight onto the Autoroute. Ces't magnifique.

As they head ever further south, they begin to reflect on what Other Worlds await them at journey's end. After releasing their Yantar LP digitally last year, Hell Yeah now serve up a much anticipated vinyl version of Richard Somerville and Craig Wilson's perfectly horizontal sounds. It features two of the superb originals with remixes from The Beat Broker and Los Gatos Escobar.

Somerville & Wilson have appeared on ISM Records, DWDK (Danny Was A Drag King), Paper Records and Music for Dreams and count the likes of Tensnake and Gerd Janson as fans of their laidback and charming grooves, and this EP is a real slab of heat that will surely sizzle souls across the world this summer.

First up, The Beat Broker proves he is on fire right now with a remix of the classic 'Melt'. from flocofloco And we still have very little info on the track that was
there. “On m’a dit…” by Floco Floco is a lo-fi afro-disco stomper hailing straight from the new ghettos created by confinement. Something had to give and we are glad that Floco Floco, whoever he is, has chosen us to ease his lockdown mind: “I’ve been told to stay at home, on WhatsApp all day long, working in the studio, reading books I haven’t read, I hope it won’t be too long, I don’t know if I can hold, smoking weed day & night, like never I have been before”.
Not a message, just a statement. The answer on the track was so good that we decided to come with more versions… We asked our friend Bufiman aka Jan Schulte to put his magic and he came with two
versions. One stellar arpeggio, with no beats but a serious drive as well as an instrumental Disco version. Gilb’r slowed down the whole affair and turned it into a cosmic nonsense vocal reprise, with a different bassline, chords and arrangement. A great summer pack!

'Wakusei' is wonderfully confusing and disorienting music, a follow-up EP to 2018’s critically acclaimed album 'Sunizm', not created specifically for life under lockdown, but nonetheless aptly suited to help release angst, guide meditation, and assist in making this moment in history more interesting if not transcendental. Whereas 'Sunizm' relied on field recordings gathered from rainforests, percussions learned from imaginary ancient civilizations, and the somehow organic freneticism of a mission control meltdown, the aesthetic of 'Wakusei' reduces this abstract instrumentation one step further to a more base-level array of gurgling synth scraps, accelerating engine friction and static-bound phonetic mistakes, all scrubbed into dust by a Brillo pad of white noise. The cliché of “great art is born out of hard times” is not lost upon us — of course the world will look back to this turmoil and its residual contributions to culture — but we see today's art as an immediate coping mechanism, and artists like Ground helping to unlock and navigate internal utopias. On "A2" we have Rwendo where Zeke really stretches his songwriting skills as the whole track manages to fuse a variety of rhythms together to create a beautiful downtempo masterpiece.
Finishing off we have the "Special Extended Dub Mix" which strips back the original and turns it into a balearic house gem made for the summer ahead.

Cardiology have already set themselves apart from the disco edit pack with their excellent previous entries, and now their fourth installment continues in fine style with another batch of smartly selected edits. You can't go far wrong when dealing with Mad Dog Fire Department's insanely funky "Cosmic Funk", which they nudge a little closer to the house side of the dance music spectrum without losing the original's killer groove. Next up is "Ms Brown", which is equally slick and bumping. Then on the flip things get smouldering with the gorgeous "We Do It" - one for contemplative wind-down moments rather than the peak of the night. "Fresh Groove" completes the set with a heavy-rolling instrumental cut to take you deep into the heart of the dance.

Bill Brown and Al Hall jr met around 1971, they were both in south central L.A and shared the same apartment building, also in the same building was Doug Carn and brownstone singer billy Wilson.
These studio sessions were don't at Paramount studios Hollywood where Al Hall jr was working for producer Art Smith a&c music.
The main distributor for A&C was Accent records. So the Soul Injections very first single "Stay off the moon" was released via Accent, as was Bill Brown's "Bip Bam" The group wasn't that
pleased with how Accent handle the releases so Bill took it upon himself to set up his own label called Brownstone records. Many musicians were called in for studio sessions these included
Doug Carn, organ; Kirk Lightsey, keyboards; Mel Bolton, guitars; Mel Lee, drums; Al Hall jr (trombones), Willaim 'Bill Henderson strings.
The label was met with some confrontation from other Hollywood labels and many of the Brownstone releases were told not to hit the shops by Mafia run labels. Later around 1975 Brownstone released a track by Everyday people feat Alexis "world full of people"....A now cult soul 45 ....We are pleased to give you our last outing for Bill and the Crew. "Dreamworld Fantasies" is a wonderful unissued 1977 modern soul disco tune dreaming of how our lives should be, flip it over and we have given you the rare previously released 1971 single of "Stay off the moon" a political message that still seems relevant today

Coladera is a merge of friendship and talent formed by Vitor Santana from Brazil and Joao Pires from Portugal. Both artists were eager to create a sound which they felt was missing in the Lusophone world: a true refelection between Portugal, Brazil and West Africa, especially Cape Verde and Angola.

With their latest Album "Lá Dôtu Lado" ("There on the other side") they created an authentic example of their dream, featuring songs which emphasizes the close musical and cultural ties within the Atlantic triangle. An epiphany on both sides of the Atlantic were the goddess called Yemajá on one side and Kianda on the other side. both are associated with the water and feminine mysteries.

LA’s Pleasure of Love edit series is back, after a brief hiatus, with an eye towards the sounds of Italodance, New Beat, and late 80s acid.

Dino Soccio takes over editorial duties and delivers a darker, playful take on early rave meets disco edits. “Chimay Groove” is a thumping new beat number reminiscent of Lola’s Wax the Van, while “Acid5 Finale” is a lighthearted, rolling acid workout.

On the B side “Bump Theme” is a peak-time, driving Italodance DJ tool for rooms big and small. Rounding out the release is “Nana’s House,” an uplifting early 90s french-afro revision.

Freshly signed artist named Ian Ash (also know as “H” and Sunny G) delivers a massive filtered boogie house track. So What U Want will also come with a Lord Funk remix which sound a bit more electro funk to blast the dancefloor.

On the flip they settle back into Balearic blissed out territory with another sunrise killer, their supreme rework of 'Wake Up Everybody' by Harold Melvin.

For their sophomore album, Chemical Reaction, Galaxians have stripped back the music and pumped up the vocals. Emma Mason's unstoppable voice elevates the group to a fully-formed musical act. This new LP is all about her voice.

Mason's powerhouse vocal on the West End Records-inspired Chemical Reaction beckons you onto the dancefloor. Jed Skinner's bright and breezy synth melodies allow the song to really breathe, whilst Sam Bell's front-and-centre conga groove (straight out of Double Exposure's My Love Is Free) and Matt Woodward's intricate rolls ramp up the track's energy and momentum. The shorter Mama Ghetto Vogue Edit is brought to life by Darren Pritchard, vogue dancer and mother of Manchester's House of Ghetto, who meets a neon wonderland in the electrifying video.

Elsewhere on the album, Heartbreaker champions female empowerment and personal freedom over a pounding boogie groove. It's a tight arrangement which drops into a delay-drenched Levanesque drum break before crescendoing back into a final chorus via one of Skinner's trademark JX-3P synth solos.

On the proto-house funk of Fight For Love, where Emma flexes her vocal chords to jaw-dropping effect, a failing relationship is thrust into the spotlight over a punchy Linn Drum groove. On the silky shuffle of after-hours jam Work It Out, which brings to mind the classic Sly & Robbie Compass Point productions, Emma croons about a lover, her voice cast in a softer, more subdued glow. Heat of the City sizzles with the essence of an urban summer, and is peppered with heart-stopping hand claps.

Third single Horizon sees the band in more reflective low-key mode, and could be their minor hit of the summer. There's some neat drum programming here, intertwined with Woodward's intricate fills and hi-hat playing.

On Not The Money, Mason's vocal shifts to a lower register in the mid-section, bringing to mind Grace Jones at her most commanding.

All in all it's a life-affirming experience, one born out of a sense of community and collaboration. Seven years on from their early explorations Chemical Reaction sees Galaxians retain sight of the principles that make their output, and dance music as a whole, so vital - commonality of experience, singular moments shared by a crowd, and rhythm as the best medicine.

Again joined by the likes of Eric Owusu and Sam Irl and their musical as well as technical skills, as well as by the lovely voice of Vilja Larjosto, the ageless beauty and intellectual brilliance of „Money“ is impossible to resist. It could have been imagined, written and recorded almost anytime in the last 50 years. Inspired or - better put - troubled by the rise and transformation of capitalist systems, fatalism, extravism, climate change and - surprise - the power, corruption and lies revolving around money, its topic is anything, but bubblegum. The music though, is ranging from powerful songs to clever synth experiments. Incredibly executed with a perfectly wonderful result. And even if Daniel writes that there is „no need to worry, I want you to panic“, we want you to listen to this album, while you do so! Hats off to Feater. „

Flip it over for a powerful pair of cuts from Bustin' Loose... the founder of London's, The Disco Express party series and a burgeoning producer with previous releases on Toy Tonics and Roux Records. 'These Ol' Days' gets us started with proper warm up tackle as a silky, filtered loop evolves and opens atop funky guitar loops and sultry vocals. Move the needle to the inside cut and we take the energy up a notch with 'Home Way Phase,' who's galloping percussion creates an urgency for shimmering strings and horn stabs to perfectly punctuate... In 1978 Patrick Adams and Leroy Burgess released one of the all time classic underground disco albums under the alias Phreek. Joey Negro takes 2 songs from the album and using the original 24 track mastertape gives them both much extended and reworked versions.

“Big Phreek” was a crazy, off kilter uptempo jam that was popular in Chicago at clubs like the Warehouse, with its chanting vocals and odd octave bassline under Adams' trademark soloing synth-work.
JN strips things back a fair deal to make a very playable energetic leftfield disco cut.

“Good Thing” is more soulful disco featuring plenty of previously unheard Burgess vocals and rich strings that weren’t on the original release. This new JN version clocks in at almost 13 min.

Take two monster tracks and apply the ‘Heavy Disco’ ethos to them. Then get on the dance floor and let the music take control. Remember – Heavy Makes You Happy.

As such, it’s with no little delight that Phantasy welcomes them back into the fold with one of their most mind- bending tracks yet, accompanied by a remix from a fellow stalwart of the underground, DJ Sotofett.

Making Covid-19-references when writing about popular culture can feel tiresome, living in the midst of it but let “Taken From A Fixed Point” by In Fields console you in this age of pandemic. This album pierces through you like sunbeams through the blinders of your quarantine-ridden apartments’ windows.

This isn’t In Fields first appearance on the label. In 2019 the artist released a collaboration with Golden bug and the exiting dynamics of that album resounds in this one. Though a little easier on the disco influences and a turn towards ambient, In Fields’ music is still “tension and release” dance music produced to perfection. In Fields characteristic sound contain contrasting elements where soft airy synth pads meet more frightening sounds dug up from somewhere deep and dark like in “Ghostnights”.

The tracks are dynamic where growing crescendos fast and suddenly fades out and you realize your mind have been focusing on a completely different part of the sound. Underneath those surprising elements sits a skeleton of well-sounding bones keeping the songs together tight and steady.

“Taken From A Fixed Point” is dance music for a dance floor in your head and triggers the muscle memory in quarantinenauts tired of hard lock-down. Though produced in a dark place, this album gives a somewhat positive vision of the future and life on the other side.

Prolific Spanish producer Rayko brings you four slices of synth-tastic nu-disco with a prog twist here. The title track is a lazy, hazy affair in which untold layers of analogue sound oscillate their way in and out of the picture. "Drive" sees him join forces with fellow Spaniard Landerground to deliver a wonderfully fluid, fluttering chunk of synth-heavy Balearica. The title is clearly a nod towards the famous movie of the same name, and many of the electronic sounds are reminiscent of the film's legendary soundtrack 'Autopower' is a tad funkier in feel and, with its sense of repressed energy, would make a great building track. But for some truly out-there thrills, head for 'Oopart', a guitar-led affair that comes on like Ripperton jamming with space rock diehards Ozric Tentacles.

New York's Will Buck is fast becoming one of the Whiskey Disco Family's most consistent artists and we're happy to present his new EP, NY Hustlin'. This time, he's brought along another Lovedancing alumni, Felipe Gordon and together, the pair deliver a stellar offering for our 15th release.

The titular track opens with slap bass loops and east-coast chants, moving swiftly into smokey chord stabs and bustling horn riffs. Shifting gears into 'Don't Wear It Out,' the energy is amped up with shuffling beats, dubbed out vocal chops and a relentless groove.

As we move to the other side, Will Buck and Felipe Gordon join forces for 'Can't Hold Me Back,' which features latin percussion and some lovely live bass from Mr. Gordon. Lastly, we have one final treat in the form of a Felipe remix for 'NY Hustlin' which sees the man impose his trademark style upon the title track and round out the package nicely.

Knight Fever is the second release on Bungalo Disco. The four songs are a mixture between childhood dreams driving K.i.t.t. and a time travel from the 80s to the 20s and back – each track on its very own way.
»Taniacid« is a Neo Italo track with some spices of acid that will make you feel like driving in „Super Pursuit Mode“.
»Trust doesn’t rust« is more or likely an Italo Disco song, hard to say when it has been created. Not even Italo Brutalo himself knows it. »Knightmares« – name is title. The psychedelic track contains just two elements. Less is more. An absolutely secret weapon on the dancefloor. »Not a drop to drink« has originally been written on a very hot summer day in the mountains of Ibiza, what you might not expect due to its dark atmosphere with elements of old school electro music.

The first vinyl release of 2020 on Nang, belongs to the Parisian producer and newcomer to the label, Kelton Prima. The veteran artist has been producing and Djing since the late 80's, also releasing under the alias of D_Tekt. Prima has released on the Belgian label Disco Praline, Chicago based imprint Mathematics Recordings, Pizzico Nobel and also has contributed remixes for Thieves Like Us and Plastique de Rêve among others. Along side him on this release features Hard Ton, the Italian artist, who released previously on NANG188. The duo deliver a cover version of Culture Club's 1983 hit, Miss Me Blind. The release sticks with a retro aesthetic, yet given a modern high impact make-over and features 4 edits.

The "Miss Me Blind" original takes you you on a voyage, straight to a dance floor worthy of the infamous New Dance Show in the late 80's. The upbeat, nu-disco grooves, with Solid bass lines (that later trans into squelchy acid affair) are counter balanced with Hard Tons sublime vocals. The Vintage drum machine sequence is perfectly matched with shimmering synths and guitar riffs.

Second on the release is the The Caribbean House "Vision". This edit takes things a little deeper with a modulating bass arpeggio, that pans across the stereo field. Spliced and pitched down vocal cuts feature in this version alongside chime bell melody and pads that creates a emotional ride.

DJ Rocca, the Italian producer a Nang Records regular, delivers a rhythmic and percussive remix. This is classic Rocca style with retro drum machine programming, and a variety of smooth and silky Italo synth patches. The final edit of "Miss Me Blind" consists of Club Domani's bouncy, bass heavy club version. This upbeat and energetic remix keeping things rolling with break-downs and snare filled drops.

Insanely popular across the Maghreb, name-checked in international spy novels and beloved of music adventurers like David Byrne, Libyan superstar Ahmed Fakroun is the most astounding raï-disco-electronica pioneer you never heard of. His 1983 album, Mots D'Amour, recently reissued by PMG, is regarded as a global fusion classic. This self-titled anthology of songs from the late 70's is an altogether mellower affair. The grooves are slower and sweeter, and Fakroun's multi-instrumentalist chops on the saz, mandol and darbouka drum really come to the fore. The album includes tracks from two of Ahmed's rarest and most sought-after 7's. 'Nysan' has an almost West Coast vibe: think Ned Doheny via Benghazi. Multi-instrumentalist/producer extraordinaire - Flevans has been on fire the last few months. With more plays across the BBC 6Music and Radio 2 than you can count on all your limbs combined, his recent singles have proved to be a huge success on the air-waves.

Following up this early enthusiasm with the stellar LP 'Part Time Millionaire' in March, the album was received very warmly by critics and fans alike.

With source material this good it was time to have some fun and at the end of March we released the undeniably brilliant Art of Tones Remix of Who's Got Me – featuring the brilliant Laura Vane on vocals. Deep delicious disco. That's how we'd describe it but don't take our word for it, listen to Todd Edwards, Bill Brewster, Kraak & Smaak, Hector Romero and Francois Kevorkian – all of whom are supporting it. Well good as that was, the fun doesn't stop there as the next instalment of remix magic has disco man of the moment Ray Mang giving the special treatment to It Just Goes (feat. Sarah Scott). He's always been a legend but his re-work of the phenomenal handclap band was THE remix of 2018 for the disco cognoscenti and he has turned in some of his very best work here.

OK, so the scoop, for the uninitiated is this - the Peech Boys were Larry Levan's group, we're talking early 80's NYC here, 1982 to be precise, around the height of the Paradise Garage as Larry was making the transition from superstar DJ to producer. He brought a sparse, dubbed out, narcotic late night feel to the overall sound of this record. This was a short-lived project, but the influence is still felt today, the Peech Boys DNA is inside the veins of modern dance music, as is Larry's. There is no underestimating what an impact this record had. 7+ minutes of electronic bliss, trailblazing stuff, and don't get us started on the dub. Do yourself a favour, BUY this classic if you don't own it already, you'll keep coming back to it time and time again. Guaranteed. Berlin Duo Local Suicide and Mexican Producer Mijo join forces to deliver two stunning original works for the latest installment of Roam Recordings. Edo Kai Tora is a uptempo main time jam with a nice vocal weaved through driving electronic stylings. Ganz Falsch has an electro boogie feel with cosmic synths and a fun vocal rhythmically tying it all together.Supporting the EP are two excellent remixes from renowned artists Sascha Funke and Simple Symmetry. Sascha Funke's elegantly dark version creeps in with a hypnotic and captivating energy while Simple Symmetry moves into party mode with pop sensible guitars and heavy wonkiness perfect for picking up the vibe at any party.All four tracks are standouts on their own and together form an outstanding versatile EP and excellent addition to the Roam Recordings catalogue.

Born out of a chance encounter in 2012 that led to a lasting friendship, Rhythm Section Int'l & producer, DJ, label boss, radio host, and record store owner Ruf Dug join forces to present 'The Committee'. Sitting somewhere between fictional band and studio collaboration, the record is the first fully in-house production for Rhythm Section, recorded start to finish at their own South East London studio and featuring vocals from label founder Bradley Zero and label mate FYI Chris's Chris Watson.

Right from the studio's initial creation, Ruf Dug felt inspired by the space's unique musical identity, jumping at the opportunity to create a collaborative record there over a two week studio residency. And between his DJ residencies at Pikes, Gottwood and NTS radio the Manchester-via-Ibiza computer game freak and renowned vinyl digger found the time to meld his wide range of influences. Having been a key driving force behind Be With's Holy Grail reissue of Bô'vel's - Check 4 U , Ruffy has more than earned his stripes as a boss level Street Soul collector, pre-empting the resurgent interest in the genre, which began in the mid 80s and is still a popular sound in Manchester today. This new release draws parallels between the DIY attitude of Street Soul labels like TSR, Intrigue, Jam Today & Elite and the modus operandi of the RS studio.

A wholly synergetic work, the project's title 'The Committee' reflects the collaborative nature of this release, as Ruf Dug states: 'Authorship is a strange concept at the best of times but this genuinely is a group effort and I very much enjoyed feeling like just one piece of a larger entity - the complete opposite to my usual production experience of being all alone in my room for days at a time.' The EP also features additional production from Rhythm Section's own Mali Baden-Powell, who DJ's and produces as Z Lovecraft and comes from a background in Street Soul music, his father was also in legendary UK acid jazz collective D'Influence. In addition, the record features a dynamic range of vocalists: sultry deliveries from Natalie Wildgoose and Sienna Mustafa, a rap from her sister Nadina, and the vocal debuts of FYI Chris's Chris Watson and Bradley Zero. 'I had been joking with Bradley that he needed to be on the record somehow and he did appear, playing an egg shaker at one point, but his singing wasn't in the least bit planned... I got back from lunch, and the next thing you know he just starts singing...So I dragged him reluctantly down the corridor to the studio and that's it- now he's a pop star!'

Also playfully melding digidub, soul, chicago house and acid jazz, the release not only marks a new chapter in the development of the Rhythm Section sound, but also catalogues a crucial turning Point in Ruf Dug's musical development. Still oozing with the cheeky DIY approach that won his own label, RUF KUTZ an army of fans, this latest Collab steps things up and opens a whole new realm of possibilities for one of Manchester's favourite sons.

LoveDancing is proud to present 'Yawumna', the new EP by Tel Aviv based veteran discoteers RaBo & SnoB. Ronen Sabo & Eyal Rob have been DJing together since the mid nineties and have been releasing their music via notable labels such as Whiskey Disco, LoveDancing and Disco Halal. Ronen, using the alias Obas Nenor has also released music on Moodyman's Mahogoni Music, Heist, and Strictly Rhythm.

'Yawumna', featuring vocals by Soma, is the fruit of the duo's visit to Ghana and the result of a chance meeting at Accra's main market while the duo were out looking for records and handmade percussions. The three quickly connected and Soma was recorded on vocals and the Kora. The result is an infectious, chantable afro stomper that feels both contemporary and rooted in Ghana's musical heritage. 20:20 Vision and Local Talk affiliate Art of Tones is on the remix adding his own signature tweak.

'Ifa' featuring Azizaa, is African house with anthemic qualities and a true club monster. Azizaa, who was introduced to Rabo & Snob via a mutual friend, packs the track with her unique vocal style and flamboyant energy. Sadly, soul diva Betty Wright left us recently, on May 10th of this year, only 66 years old.

We pay a tribute to Betty with this unique 12” release, featuring 2 of her greatest hits.

“Tonight is the night” (yes, the famous full 8 minutes live version!) appears on the “A” side of this 12”, while on the AA-side it features the 7 minutes long and easy mixable “Disco Purrfection Remix” of “Where Is The Love” by Canadian DJ DiscoCat, now however edited to perfection by Ben Liebrand at a steady 128 BPM.

”Tonight Is The Night” is taken from the (previously top10 Billboard-) album “Betty Wright Live”, which vinyl-edition will shortly be re-released with bonus tracks on the High Fashion Music label.

Reissue of the much sought after Hotbath edit series from Crazy P. Hotbath Edits Vol.1 kicks off with a rather tasty re-work of a familiar NYC disco record which uses only the beat and vocal of the original with some very tasty musical elements added.
Backing that up is the equally juicy edit which works that groove and takes it straight to the dancefloor.Changing tack for the flip we have a re-work with original elements of the acoustic guitar and the vocals are bolstered with live beats, bass, strings and brass to give a truly uplifting mix. Finally look out for the curveball edit of a certain Neptunes penned pop hit to round off this killer package!

Following a trip into the heart of Max Santilli’s Sydney studio, Into The Light Records’ ‘international’ series returns to Europe for an audience with former Peur Bleue, Versatile and Wisdom Teeth contribitor Benoit B.

The Berlin-based producer has previously won praise for his atmospheric and evocative approach to electronic music, which priorities melody, texture and vibe over form and function. “Notes of Love”, his first EP for Into The Light, was deliberately designed as a “soft journey for the ears”, with Benoit B opting to layer up only the most essential musical elements in order to guarantee sparkling, crystal clear sound and an overriding clarity of purpose.

Even so, the six tracks are still stylistically eclectic. Compare and contrast the sunrise-ready new age synthesizer melodies, bustling synth-bass, Fairlight style stabs and shuffling breakbeats of “2090”, the Vangelis Katsoulis style bliss of “Polar Nights”, the Art of Noise style ambient collage that is “Czechoslovakia” and the intergalactic, post-electro pulse of “Cowboy Dan”, whose rubbery synthesizer lines and electronic motifs somehow manage to be both funky and foreboding. Yet for all of these stylistic twists, “Notes of Love” is a coherent statement of intent from a producer whose personal musical vision remains as clear as ever.

Nebraska comes to Razor-N-Tape Reserve with a 3-tracker of soul-laden sampley goodness primed for the floor.
The title track drills deep to the depths of primal funk for an extended disco-house workout that stretches over the full A side.
On flip we have a pair of slow-burners, with Instant Pressure juxtaposing modern R&B vocal flavour over a hypnotic rhythm track, and then Keep On Keeping On takes us back to the classic soul side with its gritty and gospel-infused groove.

Psychemagik return with another freash 12 of killer edits, firstly they give Paula Cole's 'Feelin Love' a new dimension by speeding it up around 120 BPM and adding the dirtiest nastiest synth swooshes that'll have even the hardest of dancefloors bursting with sexual tension! On the flip they settle back into Balearic blissed out territory with another sunrise killer, their supreme rework of 'Wake Up Everybody' by Harold Melvin.

Their sparkly live piano solo and tight crispy drums take an already amazing track to epic new heights. Just add Yacht.

On their stunning debut album Made Me Feel, Fabrikate take a trip back to the glory days of disco, a time when love was the answer, inclusion was the only message worth spreading and everyone was invited.

Fabrikate are Francis and Chuck — two guys with similar tastes and interests digging into the past to uncover some long lost musical wisdom. Their devotion to this quest grants them laser focus, working like madmen to create bumping, neon-flecked sonic landscapes for their listeners to wander through.

Both Francis and Chuck have their own personal tie to the disco era and the forgotten magic it left with. They grew up listening to celestial funk throughout their childhoods in Montreal, an island with deep disco roots of its own. The music they produce as Fabrikate takes the spirit of disco and weave it into a modern sound, with breathtaking results.

“We both grew up immersed in disco in our own ways. The music and the culture of that era has always been a deep influence. Disco culture was very inclusive and non-judgemental. Across 14 unique tracks, Made Me Feel blends both house music and disco influences into a sound that while heavily influenced by the sounds of the past, also manages to remain rooted in modern-day dancefloors, and takes inspiration from the US, Europe and of course their native Canada.

From the very start of album opener It’s Coming Down, the tone is set: a triumphant brass refrain that drops into a fast-paced 4/4 beat and glorious vocals. From there the album kicks on in magnificent fashion with the life-affirming filtered loops of Feed The Flame and basement stomp of Into The Ground, one of the album’s most overtly house records.

Another clear album highlight is lead single Love Was Real, a joyous disco-house hybrid with a triumphant vocal, punchy drums and a brass hook that will bring a smile to even the most hardened of dancefloor veterans.

Fabrikate have an innate ability to pick out a wonderful sample and transform it into something almost overwhelmingly powerful: the aforementioned Love Was Real and the equally infectious New York City Man being prime examples of this. Years of obsessing over obscure disco records have given both Francis and Chuck a wealth of geeky knowledge on which to draw, and this album is a masterclass in how to do sampling properly.

A joyous homage to an era of which happiness and hedonism was the main focus of the music, Made Me Feel is a phenomenal accomplishment, and one that will bring joy to disco revivalists and newcomers alike.

The first of three 12”s from Jamaican duo, The Pearls. Reggae Disco Rap from 1980.

The Pearls are Stanley Shaw and Norman Watson, lifelong friends who wanted to fuse Disco, Soul and Rap with Reggae. Norman Watson worked at the famed Randy’s record store in downtown Kingston, also the base for the revered V label, where he came into regular contact with label artists Fats Domino, Millie Small and Augustus Pablo. Suitably inspired he started his label Reality Hits in 1978 and not long after came a series of singles including ‘On & On’. The Pearls soon caught the ear of Sly & Robbie and went on to record an LP for their Taxi label.

The original 7” version of ‘On & On’ leads the charge on the A1, a proper reggae disco stomper with boogie piano, super charged bass and a chorus that sounds like a lost hit. The Dub Version ‘We’ll Do It’ occupies the A2 whilst on the B side Waxist, the consummate Parisian selector and compiler Julien Minarro, steps up with an extended edit that combines elements of the Original and Dub. The 12” is housed in a disco 12" themed Isle Of Jura sleeve.

Tipped for big things, Alex Virgo presents the first release for his brand new Label 'Pomme Frite'. An imprint influenced by his love of Disco & his keen ear for sampling in House music.

The title track 'Let Me Through' builds energy fluidly, effortlessly chopping & changing. Destined to make an impact on the dance floor.

The B side features two more originals from Virgo. The first is a ruthless French house inspired bomb 'Come On Baby' and collab with new comer & long-time friend Benjamin Groove entitled 'Private Caller'. A groovy house number with skippy drums & hypnotic sax sampling.

Remastered official reissue of the hugely in demand Billy Frazier disco funk masterpiece Billy Who? Originally released in 1980, this time including on the flip side the rarest and expensive (at about 800 euros on discogs) : The Mind Blower instead of the unnecessary short radio edit.

These two killer disco classics represent huge hit on the underground scene and a staple at legendary clubs like The Paradise Garage, The Loft and Chicago's Warehouse.

Delia Renee - You're Gonna Want Me Back (Joey Negro Disco Blend):
"You’re Gonna Want Me Back” was an all but forgotten early 80s obscurity only known to hardcore vinyl collectors. Joey Negro has got hold of the original multi and has transformed what was already a very strong song into an end of the night anthem. Delia’s vocals are classic power soulful vocal disco diva, whilst JN makes the most of the parts in the fully orchestrated live backing track.

Foreal People - Shake (Dr Packer Re-Shake):
Originally released in 1999 the Joey Negro revamp of GQ’s Chic like “Shake” features David Grant from Brit Funk act Linx on lead vocals. It's back out 20 years later with a fat funky Dr Packer remix, who drops down the bpm and adds a more dubby approach to the arrangement.

Z Factor - Gotta Keep Pushin (Grant Nelson Remix):
A classic from the ZR back catalogue gets a brand new makeover from Grant Nelson, making it an instant dancefloor hit.

Four80East & CeCe Peniston - Are You Ready (Joey Negro Redemption Mix):
Brand new gospel tinged soulful house originally produced in Toronto by live jazz funk act Four 80 East featuring the powerhouse vocals of Ce Ce Peniston. It has now been remixed by Joey Negro for release on ZR. The Redemption Mix showcases the full song which harks back to the big vocal records that came out of NY and Chicago in the late 80's/early 90s.

Another indispensable ATDF 12", destined to cause waves across dancefloors worldwide.

A Salsoul classic re-worked by the masters of the remix. Unearthed from the vaults, remastered and released on vinyl in their full length, unedited glory for the very first time. With Frankie delivering a remix and dub oozing both the style and grace accustomed to Godfather of House and Morales staying true to the percussive sounds of the original production this EP showcases why the Def Mix production team have always been the leaders of the remix.

One of the undisputed kings of the remix, The Reflex works his magic on two new revisions for Salsoul Records. With a well-known ear for groove, the Frenchman takes on Double Exposure’s ‘My Love Is Free’ – crafting a layered, smooth remix that builds upon its slick guitar riff with conga rides, warm basslines and that euphoric, soulful vocal. Next up is Instant Funk to get the Revision treatment, as The Reflex re-edits and remixes ‘I Got My Mind Made Up’. This one’s got some punch: chunky, percussive breaks lay the foundation for lashings of funk, bass and some sexy vocals to boot. Always a welcome addition to any catalogue, The Reflex Revision of ‘My Love Is Free’ further solidifies why he’s the best in his field.

Halo were a late 70s/early 80s West Coast soul and funk band. When Simon Dunmore heard Horse Meat Disco drop 'The Spirit' at Glitterbox in Ibiza last summer he immediately needed to know where and who the track came from. It's no surprise that Mighty Mouse's style of production was a good match for Glitterbox, with his reputation of delivering high energy, eclectic, disco infused sets. The track went on to become Annie Mac's Hottest Record and has been on heavy rotation among all discerning disco DJs.
