1988 - The second 'summer of love' - The UK is in the grip of acid house fever, warehouses, sports halls, basements and nightclubs are reverberating to the new dance sounds emanating from Chicago and Detroit. Unbeknownst to most at the time this halcyon year will go down in the history books as a defining time that will shape the future of dance music. All major cities in the UK had their own scene, their own sound and their own legends. Manchester is one such city, a much storied participant with a legendary musical pedigree. Enter Annette, built around vocalist Annette Dos Reis this was a veritable all-star group featuring Quando Quango's Mike Pickering, A guy called Gerald, A certain ratio's Simon Topping and respected studio face Ritchie Close all on production. 'Dream 17' was the group's first outing on the newly minted DeConstruction label in 1988 and boasted a truly original and fresh spin on the US sounds that were dominating dance-floors at the time, so much so that most people didn't believe the record was created in the UK! Obviously it made perfect sense to draft in Detroit's Derrick May to craft a stellar remix that pushed the record even further into the stratosphere. May's remix wasn't included on the original 12" and was hugely sought after by DJ's and jocks alike. This is the first time all of the mixes of 'Dream 17' have been collected in one place, the complete package of this all time classic, a true old school transatlantic anthem available again for todays dance.
'Dream 17' has been legitimately released with the full involvement of the rights holders and remastered by Bristol's Optimal Mastering from the original DAT tapes especially for this release. 100% legit, licensed and released. Well. Where do we start with 'Deep Inside' Originally released in the golden NYC House era of 1993, this 5 tracker literally smashed everything in sight. And still does now! The epitome of an evergreen, all-time classic release. Masters At Work Louie Vega and Kenny Dope were on a major roll in this era, producing, remixing, dj-ing and everything in-between, these guys put in ridiculous work.
They are joined on this EP by a roll-call of names and collaborators, Erick Morillo engineering the title track Check. Maurice Joshua on co-production duties You got it. Vocals by Ms. Barbara tucker They're there. Killer, rock hard drums Stacks of Soul Masterfully chopped up Disco samples All present. Serious stuff. Sometimes a record just manages to capture and distill the true essence of what this is all about and 'Deep Inside' is one such record, it bears all the hallmarks of golden era MAW, all the signposts of what was happening in NYC's clubs in the early to mid 90's were there within it's grooves.
You know a record is good when it's still being, quite literally, hammered nearly 25 years later! Now, remastered, and reissued with the full involvement of Strictly Rhythm this seminal piece of NYC House history is made available again with all original, full sleeve artwork intact as per the 1993 original. With this three-cut EP, Andy Vaz pays tribute to Choutsugai, a Deep House DJ-and-promoter crew who booked him for many years of Tokyo gigs. Inspired by the unit’s love for “No Fairytale Luv feat. Detroit’s Eva Soul on Vocals.” Vaz decided to put it out as red transparent vinyl for VAZ-UP-001The two originals Tracks were created at Deutztroit Studios in Cologne, with vocals by Detroit’s Eva Soul on all three and “No Fairytale Luv” receiving a charged remix treatment from fellow Detroiter Niko Marks. The EP’s sound is classic Vaz, his own productions especially. The original “No Fairytale Luv"struts mightily, its pumping groove bolting from the gate with an acidy bass pulse, congas, and sparkling synths. With Soul draping her, yes, soulful musings over the energized groove, the gurgling floor-filler indelibly brands itself as Vaz’s craftsmanship. “U Got It Unlocked” is less urgent by comparison, this one more focused on a relaxed, funk-inflected swing given a subtle Latin feel with the addition of percussive accents. Soul again muses dreamily, though this time in a production that’s as much electronic reverie as club track. Of the three cuts, the EP’s primary house banger is undoubtedly Marks’s “No Fairytale Luv” makeover, which stomps even more forcefully. This one is a floorfiller

German techno and house composer Tim Engelhardt takes you on a deep dive into his peculiar-yet-relatable world of musical meanderings with ‘Idiosynkrasia’. True to the nature of idiosyncrasy, the album is more than the sum of its parts.
‘Idiosynkrasia’ is an ode to the inspiration Tim finds in all kinds of spaces and places: each cut woven from the same cloth of meticulously formed melodic structures and expertly crafted harmonies, gently amplified and unfettered by genre. From the opening track it’s clear that Tim has a profound awareness of rhythm and sound, his background as a pianist lending an easy fluidity to the album as it expands and contracts to tell a story which is gentle, humble and reflective.

After S3A's "Pages" double album earlier this year we asked some of our friends to re-interpret and re-construct their favorite original track off the album and deliver these fine remixes. We aimed to have a nice variety in styles on this record and hope you enjoy these tunes as much as we do!
Starting off with the live disco funk of "Lorenz Rhode" who sets the tone for a class dance floor EP and followed by the soulful deep house vibes of French master "Art Of Tones" aka "Llorca" who delivered 3 different mixes to this release. The main mix is on the vinyl and there are two bonus mixes added to the digital release, a "Beats" and a "Dub" version. Ending this brilliant first side is London's newcomer "Dampé" with that deep and jazzy electronica approach we got to love him for on his first debut Dirt Crew Recordings release.
On the flip we pick up the pace and present you the faster dancefloor tracks of Amsterdam's "Nachtbraker" with his freaky hallucinating sounds placed atop of one of these irresistible bass lines only he can come up with and leading towards an "end with a bang" in best Detroit ghetto house style by our own Icelandic fire "Felix Leifur".
Each artist perfectly transported his own unique styles into these tracks and we hope this release with its broad approach will serve any dance floor to its best!

Refusing to be outdone on his own label Sean’s ‘Wanna Be Good’ is packed with all the qualities you’ve come to expect from a no-nonsense McCabe Dub! Just enough vocal in there to keep you on your toes with a slick analogue bass & rampant chord hook to keep you right in the centre of the dancefloor. It’s another one of those closely guarded secret weapons that has had people running to the booth.
Wrapping thing up is ‘My Way’ a debut original collaboration between Sean McCabe & Dave Jones as Motion Severn (called that due to the Severn Bridge which separates where the pair live). Dave & Sean’s relationship stretches back to 2000 where Dave actually offered Sean his first DJ gigs, so this coming-together as a production duo has been a long time in the making! Paying homage to their shared love of the classic Strictly Rhythm & Red Zone Dub sounds, their work here recreates & reimagines that classic era of house music but for a new generation to enjoy, something recently shown through their remix of Solution’s ‘Was It Just a Game’ (also on GVM).
