Helsinki´s own underground powerhouse duo Trevor Deep jr. collaborates with young Berlin based and Korean born producer Wewerka. Flavourfull four-track ep is titled “KINDRED”.
Opening track “4 The Ladies” is paying homage to warehouse parties. Raving stabs and vocal samples screaming to start a riot. Followed by the second track Namu, pure deep house music inspired by breakbeats. B-side opener ”Nuna” displays the soulfull side of the producers, where African singer Nanghiti provides beautiful vocal foundation for Magic Manfred´s funk on the live bass. I guess you can call it Detroit soul.
Last track ”Spirits” is driven by soul sampled breakbeats and heavenly synths, transcending you to new hights.

Rainman EP is the first release of Iori Wakasa, our Japanese family member, on our label. He is a well known artist in the electronic scene and just released on Highgrade Records and SAW Records his last works. Rainman comes with an impulsive beat full of clear hi hats, paddy kick drums and melodic atmosphere of charming. Second track - Take U Antarctica' is the opposite of Rainman. Deep waves leads through the whole track, dark and tight drums and hi hats round it off.Neverm!nd the German duo from Berlin flavoured the remix with their own touch and Yosa a good friend of Iori put all his energy for creating his kind of remix which is awesome too. We really love all four tracks and can say that Iori Wakasa, Neverm!nd and Yosa serve us a solid EP in the end for being a perfectly driven for the dancefloor.

Following on from an excellent debut in 2019, with ‘Karoussel’, Mow Records unveils its second album. A further exploration of label head Mowgan’s penchant for house music and authentic African sounds, ‘Soya’ features percussion and vocals from Solo Sanou, an artist whose roots lie in Burkina Faso - though he’s based in Toulouse, where the album was recorded.

Comprised seven Afro house cuts that utilise organic instrumentation and Solo’s raw, emotive voice, the album is the second installment in a series of five long-players recorded by Mowgan in the space of a year. This new LP goes deep into the heart of Africa’s rich musical culture, delivering contagious rhythms, rousing atmospherics and a pure, organic, unadulterated sound that has been cultivated through electrifying jam sessions at Mowgan’s studio. Also featured on ‘Soya’ are Yoan Hernandez and Yaya Dembele who play guitar, Gauthier Djalate on bass, alongside Mamadou ‘Madou’ Dembele, a multi-instrumentalist who plays flute and ngoni, while also handling backing vocals with Adama Coulibaly aka Demsi and teaming up for a duet with Solo on ‘Badenya’. Another vocalist, Fanta, was intrinsic to this LP. The granddaughter of renowned Malian performer Kandia Kouyaté, Fanta appears on ‘Fatanya’ and is a crucial component of the album’s conception…

The story goes that Mowgan was making an album with Fanta when he realised he needed a percussionist. Fanta brought in Solo Sanou, who was very timid to begin with. Mowgan liked his style and decided to work on some music with Solo separately. As the relationship blossomed, and they recorded more music, Solo brought more and more instruments to Mowgan’s studio. During those sessions Mowgan gently encouraged Solo to try using his voice, eventually he did and, when he heard how good it sounded, ended up singing across the whole LP. So, the beauty of this album, beyond the wonderful instrumentation, is the fact that you’re hearing Solo Sanou sing for the very first time.

With all the songs recorded in his native languages, Bobo and Bambara, ‘Soya’ is an exhilarating blend of electronic production and African influences that emanates a feeling of authenticity throughout. From the opening cut ‘Adamine’, which is about Solo’s first meeting with Mowgan, to ‘Badenya’ which refers to family bonds - “There may be quarrels, but it will never catch fire,” Solo says.

There is social commentary, such as that featured on ‘Fantaya’, which is about poverty - “While some people worry about what they will eat at night, others have fun without worrying about them,” he says.

A soul-nourishing, vibrant and utterly contagious collection of raw, authentic Afro house, ‘Soya’ marks another step forward for Mow Records and a triumph for all the artists involved. Look out for further installments…

House/Techno legend Orlando Voorn is next up on California's Roundabout Sounds label. This vinyl only release contains 3 tracks, each with it's distinct flavor and time/place on the dancefloor. You may know by now the quality to expect from Roundabout Sounds...and this EP keeps the bar raised high. This is the 15th installment of Roundabout Sounds that's run by Joe 'Babylon' Marougi, co-founder of Plug Research back in 1994.

Second release on his own Quasar White label, this time the first side is characterized by a more complicate sample game. "Track 1" is a classic jazz based house track, with a gummish bassline merged perfectly in the chord sample, a set of swinged snares and some spurious vocals coming out from nowhere, while "Shadow Waltz" is a dark and hypnotic groove that builds it's structure around a myriad of sound sources, making it literally an entangled puzzle evolving in time. On the other side "I'll Do No More" looks back to the moods of the first release, especially the B side, being a spacey and introspective love based journey."

The band, having debuted at Brainchild Festival in 2018, have spent the last couple of years working on material for this stunning debut EP.

Featuring friends and frequent collaborators Brother Portrait (Steam Down) and Poppy Ajudha, the 6 track EP simmers with a potent UK energy; paying homage to the sounds of Garage, Jungle and Broken Beat all in the context of the new wave of London Jazz - of which all members of this project are key players.

Opening track, ‘No Fuss No Fight’ provides a blissed out, shuffling backdrop to showcase Brother Portrait’s toast to the dance, in which he effortlessly switches from spoken word to fast paced delivery.

At once dothing its cap to Mala’s iconic Anti War Dub whilst taking inspiration from The Street’s observational masterpiece Weak Become Heroes - this is a song with ‘instant classic’ written all over it.

Ping Pong is a Kaidi Tatham-esque workout, leading us nicely to standout track Earth Rain feat. breakthrough London Singer Poppy Ajudha. The synergy between Jack on keys and Poppy on Vocals is clear; the two have been playing together for years and combine perfectly on this sun drenched contemporary take on the so called broken-beat style.

All in all, the EP is equally at home in the club as it is in the living room, owing to it’s balance of epicness and musicality. This is undoubtedly a product of London town and couldn’t fit more perfectly with the expansive sound of Rhythm Section INTL.

pparel Music is delighted to welcome aboard one of the most talented house music producers in the scene, Goddard, who’s the protagonist of APLTD012. The twelfth release of the Apparel’s limited catalogue is a brand new 4 tracks EP called “Signals” by the Mancunian featuring a 4-hands collaboration with Harry Wolfman and a remix by Jad & The. Every single track has been chosen carefully since the beginning of the project to make this record a representative work of the artist who perfectly blends his musical knowledge with the label’s imprint. The opening track “Fourth Dimension” is a teamwork between Goddard and the above mentioned Wolfman and is the ideal start with its crunchy, slightly distorted beat, bold bassline and spacey chords and arpeggios, surely a track for the DJ’s out there to play out to a busy dancefloor. A2 is the title track “Signals” and it lowers the heartbeat, displaying all Goddard’s talent on the keys and creating an impeccable fluctuating soundscape of his musical characteristics: the beat is an oscillating, yet solid structure while the different timbres of his synths evaporate and reappear conceiving a dreamy, spacey track. Side B begins with the whimsical chords of “It’s Not So Cold In Tromso” where the artist takes the listener to a brief and intense trip to see the Norwegian northern lights; the track is made by a strong rhythm section and flighty, far-out, harmonies which really evoke Scandinavian landscapes. B2 is a free interpretation of the previous track by the Australian Jad & The who amalgamates a jungle-ish beat to Goddard’s introspective harmonic section telling his opinion on the trip to “Tromso”.

Signals EP will be released the 2nd of December on 12” vinyl and we’re more than happy to welcome Goddard to Apparel Music’s family.

Duccio Lopresto is a classic car lover and modernist in the classical sense from northern Italy. His debut on Greta Cottage Workshop was a blueprint for what House Music can be 35 years after it emerged: Funky without copying the 70s, deep without being boring, uplifting without being cheesy.

His second artist EP is now going to be released on Berlin's „Smile for a while“, coming with heavy synths, bouncing basslines, syncopated drums and hypnotizing rhythm patterns. Clearly an approach from a motor city - not Detroit though but Milan.

Back to 1996, Charles Webster's cult Remote label, one of a handful of Presence releases produced by Webster himself and a whole galaxy of deepness. This is what you currently hold in your hands right now, a 4 tracker that crosses various sonic terrains with ease that still works in the club. 'The Strength' is the title cut, here in 2 variations with the first version imbuing almost highlife-like qualities in it's melodies and construction. Minor chords, intricate drum programming and cabinet rattling basslines create a very special atmosphere, with the 2nd mix being a somewhat stripped back cousin of the first. Pure brilliance. The third chapter in the NómadaWhite series is here and, for this one, the Bogota-based band of brothers have decided to cross the pond in search of like-minded lovers of all things deep and dusty. That signature Hip-Hop- and Jazz-infused Nómada wobble, made in Europe this time.

Dug up from the deep end of the Polish party scene, Ugly Frankie demonstrates a particular penchant for vintage vocals and whirling woodwinds, delivering a well-rounded A-side with
'Don't Step' on warm-up duties, 'Jimmy' for peak time president and 'I Need To Dance' to round things up nicely. Let there be no mistake, Frankie sure does have a pretty side.

A true virtuoso on the keys, French miracle man Mangabey then comes in strong with 'Wooden Flowers' on the flip, dropping perhaps one of the most soulful and funky synth lines of the season. Continuing his steady streak with 'No Q' and 'Unless', it should come as no surprise that some of the man's most recent productions have been released by trusted astemakers like Apparel Music, Blaq Numbers and Toy Tonics.

South London poet / DJ James Massiah steps forth with his self-produced solo debut released on NTS mainstay Jon Rust’s Levels label.

Ethereal, lofty vibes delivered in a buoyant dancehall / house hybrid. In “Natural Born Killers” Massiah testifies to a newfound earthly love and guilt free living, inspired by a search for meaning in a selfish world.

All tracks on the EP were written & produced by James Massiah himself, as he continues in his mission to elude the pigeonholing of his talents (Poet, DJ, Producer, Artist). The vinyl edition features a mix for dance floors from a certain Pete O’Grady, whose support Massiah has enjoyed over recent years, with Joy O regularly weaving Massiah’s acapellas into his sets ever since the release of the latter’s Euthanasia Party / 27 collection of poems.

“144,000” on the b-side, is a dark Memphis inspired cut not to be overlooked, while “Last Dance” (available on the digital release) finds Massiah riding high on his more Chicago house leanings.

Coming from a Juno Top 1 record in 2 categorys with his "Edits Brazuca EP", APOENA makes it clear that his music will keep being versatile and wont be limited even by sucsess. "Nebulosa EP" is a spacie Deep/Tech House colection that clearly drinks from the oldschool dubness and will relate more with some of his early works. All 3 tracks are highly playable, carefully built in it's structure.

Benedikt Frey heads this latest offering from the Batti Batti label, teaming up with jonas.san for "Girl From Venus", which pair the former's signature raw drums with the latter's outtakes of muted trumpet. Complementing this, Batti Batti's own Owen Jay & Melchior Sultana lay down a typically deep atmospheric houser with a few twists and hidden melodies in the shape of title track "Tribal Roots" and the 12" is further embellished by productions from debutant Lars Behrenroth and Mexican duo Romeo C & Alhan G who have previously been featured on a digital Batti Batti release.

Chromatic Filters are back in 2020 with their fifth EP on Rebirth, anticipating the release of their first album.

The Italian duo based in London by Luca Sanna and Pierpaolo Sechi, remain faithful to their sound but evolve by exploring new musical territories. The ‘Lido Iride EP’ fuses many different elements of electronic music with live instruments: the atmospheric and spacious style gives us more to discover with every listen. ‘Eugene’ is a tasty take on deep house marked out by synth chord progressions, acoustic guitars and shuffling grooves. ‘First Impact’ has a jazz feel, with strings and cosmic synths.

The vinyl press also includes two remixes by two highly regarded artists in the Italian underground scene for some time now: Don Carlos and Luca Trevisi aka LTJ Xperience.
Don Carlos, who in 1991 made his debut with the classic 'Alone', one of the milestones of Italo House, gives us a pure deep reinterpretation of ‘First Contact’ - waves of atmospheric synths and delicate piano chords roll in, as blissful pads sway with a 909 drum.

A veteran of the national scene active since the 1980s, collector and master of the art of editing, Luca Trevisi, produces a rework of ‘First Impact’ under the LTJ Xperience moniker. An uptempo burner with his trademark cosmic boogie biz.

Rough House Rosie regular, HVL presents his alter ego - Kiyadama. The 10th release of the label coincides with its 3 year anniversary. The A side of the Cosmic Hum EP starts with two pieces of mesmerizing acid tracks and finishes with a smooth analog ambience. The B side offers even stronger acid cut 'Machine Terror' and 'There Will Be No Salvation', separated by a refreshing juke track - 'Slammbeat'.

A feisty and sassy slab of funky house from Amsterdam upstarts Makez, Elevation is twirl of saucy tracks with a toothy demeanor that will charm you onto the dance floor. The special sauce here comes from a musicality that's studied but not too clean and a bright instrumentation that evokes the golden years of Metro Area.

“Melting” is slinky post-disco for gilded, glammy digs; “Elevation” is a lightheaded pas de deux; “One 4 the Dreamers” is a rolling late-night creeper with a tickle of jazz; and “Merlot,” which features Alternative Tone Adjustment on keys, is a chunky strut down the catwalk. Designed for clubs, tuned for the radio.

Move D's 'Building Bridges' is David Moufang's latest studio album. Close friends and long time collaborators, Thomas Fehlmann, Fred P, Juju & Jordash, D-Man & rEAGENZ all feature alongside Benjamin Brunn. Building Bridges was recorded at reSource, Heidelberg between 1999-2019 except "One Small Step..." which was recorded at Thomas Fehlman's Space in Berlin

This album initially started out as an entry for the Inside Out series on Aus - based around the idea of collaborations with his nearest and dearest but when David sent me the music and wrote a few new tracks there was such a cohesive, timeless feel to it as a body of work I decided that it had to be a stand alone artist album. These tracks have been written over a twenty year period and involve 6 people but it sounds like it was written in one sitting. This is testament to David's creative aesthetic and the closeness of the relationship with his collaborators as a common feeling of warmth and smudged soul oozes out of every poor of this record. Rick Lenoir and Larry Thompson aka Black Traxx dropped several volumes of their own brand of chopped up Disco sampling, deeper side of House. From 1991 through to 1994 the Black Traxx EP's were showing up in record stores, obviously giving respectful nods to other Chicago DJ's and producers the tracks included on the EP's contained a DIY spirit and rawness that were key ingredients. Lenoir, with the technical assistance of Gary 'Jackmaster' Wallace has revisited these classic releases for 2017 and the pair have turned in some special, exclusive extended versions of some of the highlights from the series.

Kicking off the first Black Traxx sampler is 'Climaxx', a stripped back, slow burning acid cut with more than a similarity to 'French Kiss' complete with ultra slowed down section in the middle. Far from a copycat, 'Climaxx' is it's own beast, a truly atmospheric track that tweaks in all the right places! 'Doctor's Housecall' is up next, a cut-up of Disco burner 'Doctor Love', a Chicago staple for sure. This is a brand new extended version of this jam, serious heat on this one, you all know the sample by now! Undoubtedly a nod to the legendary Ron Hardy and his mythical Muzic Box club, this one hits the spot.

On side-B we get a new version of 'Your Mind Is So Crazy' lifted off Volume III, this one's a pumping, breakbeat laced party starter. Vocal samples, synths and swinging drums all collide to form a real peak-time monster of a track, pure 90's style runnings! 'Retrospace' is the last track on sampler 1, it's a melding of Chicago House, breakbeat and bleeps. If you dig the sounds that emanated from Sheffield way back when, or the you're into the early hardcore sound pre-Jungle then this is the cut for you. Fast paced and funky, 'Retrospace' is a real hidden gem of a track, featured here in it's original form lifted from volume II.

This reissue has been realised with the full involvement of Rick Lenoir and Gary Wallace and is 100% legit! All exclusive extended edits have been made by Rick and Gary specifically for this release. Don't snooze, this one deserves a spot in any self respecting House heads record bag or DJ set, classic material made available again for 2017 - You can't stop it!

Deep space techno tracks from beyond by Boston's Deviere (known from Jamal Moss' Mathematics records), approaching like a time capsule from an alien past and a bullet into that forgotten future.

Renate Schallplatten's eighth release comes from Michal Zietara with Olympia Europa. The four-track EP, the Polish-born, Bavaria-raised, Berlin-based Renate resident's solo debut features three originals plus a remix from Ian Pooley.

Opener "Mr. Joy" is a late-night uptempo jam with a punchy bassline and warm pads. Chopped vocal samples come to the fore around the breakdown, raising the tension for maximum euphoria upon the beats' return. Ian Pooley's flowing remix on the A2 is in the signature '90s filter house style. The vocals lead the way, adding some warmth to a rather stripped-back affair. It's another peak-time cut that makes you want to close your eyes and move to the music. The punchy beats and upbeat melodies return on "Euro Robot," this time paired with intricate drums, fluttering vocals, and high-pitched keys. Closer "Pink Seal" is more downtempo and pensive, centered around coherent vocals and smooth pads. The beats feature less prominently, even fading away after a brief midsection. It's a cerebral track; a moment of self-reflection in an otherwise upbeat, high-energy EP.

The EP is Renate Schallplatten's second of 2019, following Longhair's label debut. Earlier EPs have landed from Moscoman, Sebastian Voigt, Wareika, and more.
