House Vinyl New Releases - News

Respected Parisian producer DJ Deep debuts on Kerri Chandler's Kaoz Theory with four rhythmic house tracks this August.
One of the most important protagonists to emerge from the French house and techno scene, DJ Deep's status is unquestionable.
At the helm of Deeply Rooted, the reputable label owner has signed and released numerous timeless cuts from the likes of Ben Klock, Francois X, Roman Poncet, Kerri Chandler, and many more. Meanwhile, his return to production in recent years has seen him appear on a variety of credible labels, such as Rekids, Tresor and L.I.E.S.Inaugurating the release, 'Thai' fades in gently using subtle field recordings and organic drums before introducing piercing stabs and serene pads, making way for the firm kicks and open hats of 'Tuesday Record Shopping In Paris' as soaring atmospherics and various intricate elements come into effect.
The mesmerizing 'Guardian' is next, with its low-slung groove and compelling rhythm, until 'Cavalier Drums' concludes the release by rolling out complex percussion from start to finish.

A personal selection of the best house and garage from a definitive decade.

Gatefold sleeve.

Whiskey Disco Small Batch #5 welcomes the long-awaited appearance by the man sitting in Whiskey Towers, Sleazy McQueen. This three-tracker perfectly encapsulates the label boss' unique take on housey disco.
From the boogie-heavy Pretty Baby, a late night chugger which has seen an earlier version released on House of Disco to the party starting leftfield antics of SMQ's old band, Tres Gueros and rounding out with the SMQ dub of Berliner Snax' recent album, out now.

With 'Solidarity Forever Vol.2' Co´meme continues this new chapter of its own history, introducing new artwork, a new logotype and three Various Artists EPs. 'Solidarity Forever' is a motivator for our everyday actions, and a reminder of why we are doing what we do, 'Solidarity Forever' is Co´meme's commitment to the reconstruction of underground culture.

These 12's are introducing artists new to the label, new collaborations and new approaches from Co´meme members already familiar to you.
Volume Two features tracks by RIZU X (Laredo, TX/Nuevo Laredo, MX), ANA HELDER (Rosario, Argentina), VASKULAR (Santiago de Chile) and GLADKAZUKA (Medellin, Colombia). You will be able to hear deep borderline doom house, modern leftfield workout techno, a hispano-oriental acid track, and an uptempo instrumental Hip Hop adventure - here's more utopian music against dystopian times.

Vril's debut EP on Giegling.

Theomatic is back with a surprise 12-inch from the label's mainman An-2. Mint EP is a collection of four space-boogie jams spanning a variety of moods and tempos that have been recorded over the period of last couple of years. The lo-fi beats and pulsating kalimba-esque arpeggios on 'Sigint' create an instant feel of a sci-fi movie soundtrack, while an ultra-deep kick drum and a punchy bass on 'Mint' is a sure way to test your speaker performance. Things get more chilled and pensive on the flipside with 'Dusky Downtown''s brooding synthwork and rolling pads taking you on a stroll along glittering neon-lit city streets. Last, but not least, Amberflame's take on 'Dusky Downtown' is a steaming affair that uses tight compression and lush synths and to create that special euphoric dancefloor moment.

Fernando Sanz has been steadfastly dedicated to the craft of beats and breaks since he was a young sprout of 14 years in the sun baked southern Spanish port city of Algeciras. Under the imprint Orbe Records, Sanz has cultivated his own thriving techno community as artist and label head. Since 2014 Orbe Records has been lashing the block rocking techno of Sanz's comrades Eduardo De La Calle and Steve Stoll, but mostly of Sanz's own prolific moniker, Orbe. As DJ and producer Orbe keeps the mood surreal and dreamy while deploying understated drum machine patterns to hammer the platonic solids that keep his beloved community in tact.

His forthcoming 3-track 'Hohenheim' EP for the Barcelona label, Lone Romantic, keeps the Orbe buzz rolling. 'Hohenheim' kicks the record into motion with the resounding thuds of a multilayered big-room kick while bright synths and sharp edged sci-fi machinery climb the walls in obscure and narcotic patterns. 'Shimano's Tribute' is a study in the fundaments of techno that lull the listener with an extended 4X4 intro into a state of high mental absorption, just in time to drop the centre piece of the track, an eloquently ovular stutter sliced percussion sample. 'Edelweiss' sets the record on a outward course for somewhere between the hypnotic dance floor bliss of a pre-dawn Sunday morning and the impending angst beholden to glimpsing the dystopian sprawl of civilisation when flying out Monday morning.

We here at Watergate Records are ecstatic to bring you the first single release 'Do Me feat. Khan', from Tiefschwarz in anticipation of their stunning new album, 'Left'. Along with a couple of carefully curated remixes by from two of the most prolific and unique remixers working today, Roman Flügel and Frank Wiedemann, the complete package is a trifecta. The original 'Do Me feat. Khan' is fully rooted in Tiefschwarz's cryptic dance floor approach, intricately balancing the serious and the absurd through the call and response of an almost comedically vocoded voice and a smooth, slick talking murmur. Khan's voice joined with a continually climbing bassline, lush percussive melodies and infectious drums result in a cut that is perfect for, and will shine, any time. Going a different direction by barely using the vocal, but staying very true to the original is Roman Flügel. Taking the original bassline and shortening the loop to 3/4 time, Flügel has devised a hypnotic tail chase that continues from beginning to end only to be accompanied by the whip of a big hi hat and wild 909 claps. Finally, it's the Frank Wiedemann Orchestra Remix, and it's pretty safe to say that this will be one of the anthems of the year. Aptly titled, the remix is a magnum opus conducted by a master. An enormous ensemble of rich strings and delicate melodies that build and swell from start to finish.

Swiss imprint deepArtSounds strikes back with his second special limited edition produced by the label figurehead Anthony Nicholson from Chicago. 250 copies pressed.
Teaching everyone about making proper, grooving, jazzy deep house music, both tracks on here are worth their weight in wax. "Optimum", a track dominated by the superb soulful vocals by Jrod Indigo makes you feel some pounds lighter. "Destination" is a re-intepretation of the 80ies rare funk tracks with a touch of jazz!

Newcomer Arran Trax arrives with an EP of ethereal melodic house music and the first vinyl release for Madrid label Envy Music. Hailing from the Scottish Isle of Arran but long residing in Hamburg, 'Whiting Bay' and 'Ailsa Craig' draw on the mysticism and beauty of his native island. Glasgow's Tre Turner and L.A. resident Ricky Tinez rough things up on remix duty with two direct-to-tape vintage jams for the clubs.

FEATHERED SUN is the collaborative experiment from Acid Pauli, NU, Jo.Ke, Raz Ohara, Chris Schwarzwalder and Iannis Ritter. They fuse a celebration of spirit with moody atmospheric melodies, trying to celebrate moments in time through their music.
Friends for years, they hang out, with or without kids, and cook, eat, breathe, record and produce in different combinations and locations, with Berlin and Peru as their main bases. With a wide ranged sound that is at the same time familiar, they start to draw ever bigger circles, touring the world and accumulating hits, especially NU with the still topical "Who loves the Sun", sung with Jo.Ke's haunting voice.

Following the completely sold out 'Imagine - A - Nation' and 'Le Fusion' reissues, Anotherday brings you a very special release from the vault of the enigma that is Spencer Kincy, AKA Gemini - we are very proud, and extremely excited to present Gemini's first 4 releases, lovingly re-mastered and packaged together in a very limited box set!

Originally released on Relief Records; the Chicago techno label headed up by Cajmere, these releases were Gemini's introduction into the worlds of house and techno, and contain some of his most vital works.

As one of Chicago's most mysterious and revered characters, the story of Gemini, aka Spencer Kincy has become something of a myth in recent years - blazing a trail throughout the 90's, prolifically releasing over 200 tracks from 1994 to 1999, Spencer's music had shades innovation and soul few of his peers could match. Then, suddenly, at the peak of his career, he disappeared.

As before, this album has been licensed directly from the man himself, and the money made from its exploitation will go directly to him.

This box set is limited to 500 UNITS ONLY - the last Gemini reissues sold out 4 x that amount in weeks, so put in your pre orders before they're gone forever.

Vinyl only. Harry Bennett's solo debut on CCC features two tracks of sizzling, Chicago-inspired house that combine the rodeo rowdiness of his native Texas with the sexy sneer of the New York he calls home. Exquisitely-produced party bombs by a real house DJ's DJ, Ponytail and Body Language send shivers down our spine with thoughts of across-the-room glances, sexual tension between strangers, and encounters in dark places. Inspired by the sounds of Murk, Derrick Carter and Armando, the sound is 21st-century jack, with the heart of classic Trax, the blood of analog drums, and a mouth that speaks with the voice of now: sleek, modern and stripped-down house music.

Coastal Haze returns with a breezy house EP form Hugo Jay.

Passport to Paradise continue their winning streak with an exclusive release from man of the cloth, digger extraordinaire, John Zahl / Jaz. If you've seen his video for Thump, you'll know that Jaz and his works are weird, wrong and wonderful: in a word, the ethos of PTP is alive and kicking in this release. First up, Geisha chugs along in the cosmic dust of 80s synth assortments and flourishes of koto. Scatter-brained brilliance from the deepest of Osaka basements. A2, Move to the Beach, heralds a sleeker, sleazier side to Jaz's episcopal offering.

It builds itself out from a latent groove that ushers in the end of the night, carrying you to the empty seafront just before dawn, where a breeze ruffles the palm trees as you dig your eyes into the moon. Turning the page, we have a rework from the same post-Kraftwerk heritage, but this one is more potent synthpop roller, a straight-up, no frills edit for the toughest of dance floors.

The final track, Twin Theory, is a lofty affair from the outset, its arpeggiated bass holding the track to ransom: it is playful yet very serious, sublime and sarcastic. This is what Passport to Paradise are bringing to your homes and dancefloors. Don't miss out.

DM004 unveils Kresy's most experimental, analogue and lysergic side. Three tracks that describe a vibrant and timeless spiral that connects the lust of late 80's acid sound with the rusty warehouses of abandoned factories in the mining town where he grew up.

Finally repressed

Russian label Gost Zvuk (roughly translates as 'state standards for sound' ) releases its well-anticipated third record which is a courtesy of Oleg Buyanov - Moscow's underground scene veteran also known as OL. Inspired by some late Soviet documentaries exploring Russia's nature and science, this musical adventure reflects Oleg's very unique take on nostalgic post-Soviet neo-romanticism. Driven by raw and jazzy house groove, this record showcases the work from one of the high-profile Russian producers of our time. Supported by the likes of Huerco S, Anthony Naples and Madteo. Limited hand-stamped white 12''.

Two productions for today's dancefloors from Samuel. These are rough and rugged club tracks built from hardened rubber, with plenty of rhythm and a melancholy edge, and they don't sound like anything else.

This is the first time I've released another artist's music on Not So Much and honestly, I can't think of a better way of doing it. I'm very proud and very excited.

Thanks for reading and listening, Mos.

Using the stars as their guide, electronic duo SLOPE 114 give us the haunting "LOST IN SPACE", an experimental modular house jam with fantastic vocals to match. Original version is raw and wild with the ML edit on the flip geared for adventurous dancefloor DJs.

The final vinyl sampler from the Ralph Lawson Content album features some PBR Streetgang reinterpretations of one of the biggest tracks in the 2020 back catalogue, and an original track by Sacchi & Sasse.

----------

2020Vision celebrates it's 20th anniversary in style this year. As ever, the UK label will do things differently - no dwelling on times past and no back catalogue rehash. Instead, 2020Vision will release 'Content', a compilation mixed by Ralph Lawson featuring 20 exclusive new original tracks and remixes from a dizzying array of arch collaborators. This album will be augmented by a series of parties across the planet including Fabric, Sonar, Hideout, Ibiza, Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, Milan, Munich, Zurich, Glasgow, Leeds and beyond.

You can tell a lot about a label by the friends it keeps, especially when those friends include Matthew Herbert, Eats Everything, Simian Mobile Disco, Groove Armada, Cassy, Matthias Tanzmann, Psychemagik, Dense & Pika, Tom Trago, Huxley, Waze & Odyssey, Ejeca, PBR Streetgang, Doc Daneeka and Citizen among them. A formidable assembly of the world's top electronic music talent by anyone's measure, but put in the context of one album, it makes 'Content' a strong contender for compilation of the year from the tracklist alone.

The Long Now is a duo featuring Richard Norris and Finnur Bjarnason, with special guests. They mix piano, voice, string section and electronics with the sound of the Icelandic breeze. The music sits within the post ambient, electronic, contemporary classical genre, with a strong sense of landscape, mood and melody. Richard Norris One half of the Grid, alongside Soft Cell's Dave Ball, one half of Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve with Erol Alkan... Richard Norris has a thing about working as a duo. With many productions and remixes under his belt, including tracks for Warpaint, Brian Eno, Tame Impala and many more, Richard brings an electronic sensibility to the Long Now. He has a long term passion for ambient, electronic, drone, soundtrack and modern classical music. Finnur Bjarnason Finnur Bjarnason is an Icelandic musician whose background is in classical music. Having trained to be an opera singer, rst in his native Reykjavík and later at the Guildhall School of Music and National Opera Studio in London, he then pursued an international career as an operatic tenor for over a decade, appearing in many of the world's most prestigious opera houses, singing everything from Montiverdi to Wagner to modern opera. As he has become ever more interested in where the boundaries between musical worlds get blurry, and particularly how the sound world of 'acoustic' singing world could best intersect with electronic music, he has begun an earnest exploration of the 'other side'. The Long Now play the Blue Dot Festival on Sat July 21st, with more dates to follow. The performance will be accompanied by a lm by BAFTA award winning director Kieran Evans, recently shot in Iceland. The band are currently preparing an album and series of live performances featuring piano, voice, electronics and string quintet.

I am honored to release the original verson of Nude Photo by the true producer Thomas Barnett... The Truth Will Set You Free

Ride the river out of the darkness. Original piano lines lead on SaintJohn. Two Spirits, together forever. Be yourself and let me be myself. Music is forever, house forever...

Even with the first sounds, the organic structures can be heard - and felt. A crystalline crackling of the hi-hat very close to the ear, as if the black volcanic sand of Lanzarote would trickling on the metal. The echo of the samples does not point to endless distances, rather, it swings up the cochlea and enters into a special world in which sound material develops a delicate self-life.

It is the world of Denis Rodd, producer and label founder of Cochlea Music, who moved from the Canary Islands to Berlin. His first EP on Cochlea Music is Embryo. Everything stands at the beginning, also in the first track, 'Crisalida', Chrysalis in Spanish.

With the likes of Someone Else (Little Helpers), Noah Pred (Thoughtless, Highgrade), Demian (Kompakt), Slam (Soma Records) Carl Craig (Planet E), Ron Costa (Sci+Tec) among others.

The PLAYGROUND is pleased to present it's 9th release titled "ALL THE WAY LIVE EP". Originally from Australia, INKSWEL aka JULES HABIB turns in a delightfully funky 4 track EP inviting some of his friends, HENRI LE BLANC, SVEN ATTERTON & MAN MADE MOUNTAIN to join. Raw jams to make you move. Due in the next few weeks. DOPE!

The first release on Confused Machines pays respect for some of their homeland collaborators / heroes in a form of remixes. Side A present two remixes by The Models. The first one for the cult , ex Jerusalemite trio Mouth and Foot, a slow and mellow / romantic house tune (In hebrew) , while the second remix is a dark shoegazy atmosphere with harsh 808 treat for singer songwriter Bela Taar. The flip side holds an essential edit for late 80's post punk female duo - Mafatal, Mule Driver turned the original cut into a dance floor 'hit' using tribal poly-rhythmic drumming with merciless driven bassline.

"On 27th October, Waifs & Strays make their debut appearance on Skream's new imprint Of Unsound Mind. Having had previous releases on Leftroom, Madtech, Futureboogie, Resonance and Hot Creations amongst others, Waifs & Strays have slowly but surely become a respected purveyor of quality house music, and its no surprise that Skream has snapped up these two tracks for the second release on his new label.
'Free Your Soul' and 'Just Don't Know' have both been featuring heavily in Skream's sets over the summer months of 2014 and doing damage across the globe from Ibiza to LA."

A selection of four clubby reinterpretations of Red On's ambient hardware jam "Ghana". By marrying the eerie soundscapes and delicate melodies of the original recording with their particular style of drum work, A. Elm, Alex Ketzer, Te Marx Trukker and Philipp Roth push the original tracks into krauty techno and rough, dancefoor focused house music.

Every WPH Summer brings us...the WPH Summer Special! Well, some summer specials have been known to be released in the winter, with huge acclaim from the cold masses who had something to warm their hearts and souls to. So we figured we would release another summer special in the winter...
The mysterious-but-not-really Harry Baldi kicks things off with 'Something For Your Mind', a sample-ridden up tempo house workout that will also go down a treat on techno floors. Solid Yamaha bass anyone Up next we introduce a new Belgian member to the WPH family. DJ Miclem has quietly been working on his music and now it's time to let some of it out of the studio and onto your decks. This is the vintage WPH sound that got us on the map!

On the b-side WPH mainstay Kiani & His Legion are at it again, bringing you a relentless track that will destroy any club, rave or festival floor. He's got his WPH licence alright! The final wax grooves of this E.P. are taken up by another WPH classic, Maxim Lany, who teams up with his friend Audio City Soul (welcome Maks!) to bring us the slow burner 'Jili'. All in all we think it's another class WPH act.

Bodytonic Music is the new record label from those rascals in Dublin called ...errr Bodytonic . The same chancers behind Dublin clubbing institution the Twisted Pepper, boozer the Bernard Shaw, Raver Cottage , the Beatyard, Doortonic, Scribble Records, POGO Recordings, Kormac's Big Band and plenty more random and nonsensical things, this label has been started to create a home for all those variations in one record label. So expect no two releases to sound the same, or anything in general to overly make much sense - it will all be made up as it goes along.

The first release on the label is the debut EP by White Collar Boy. White Collar Boy are a two piece electronic-garage group from Dublin. Mark Cummins (the ginger one) and Gavin White (the-not-so-ginger one) met in Barcelona where their shared passion for electronic composition (and knitting) inevitably led the pair to merge their creative endeavors.

'SUUU / Tide ' comes fresh with remixes from Twisted Pepper resident Frank B (he of "Chain of Fools" fame) and Simon Bird. It drops on wax on Oct 7th and Digital on Oct 21st. You need this record.

R&S newcomer Karim Sahraoui delivers an EP of deep, emotive techno that draws on the rich legacy of Detroit while staying relevant for the modern era.

Sahraoui is a globetrotting seeker of musical truth spending time in Malaysia, Italy and Spain as well as his native France, he recorded in the early 2000s to some acclaim as Djinxx, releasing prolifically for Delsin, Cocoon, F-com Bedrock, and Ovum amongst others. In 2009 he took a couple of years out from the industry, travelling to Malaysia to find himself. In 2011 a chance meeting reconnected Sahraoui with Derrick May, who he originally met in the late 90s. May was reactivating Transmat and persuaded Karim to let him release his music, but on the condition it be under his own name. The resulting pair of 'Eternal Life' EPs in 2014 and 2016 marked his rich return to form - glorious melodic, contemplative techno in the classic motor city mode.

HIs Plenitude EP for R&S builds on similar positive themes - from the percolating arpeggios and mystic melodies of 'Spy Of The Desert', to the anthemic jazzy techo paen of 'Born Again' or the aching symphonic build of 'Before The 2nd Coming' its clear that after decades in the business Sahraoui's talent is only growing rather than diminishing.

"I wanted to give it more spirituality, musicality and roots with the choice of the sounds. Going back in the past and transcribe everything with visionary fusions," Sahraoui explains.

2017 saw the first two stunning instalments of Lone AKA Matt Cutler's Ambivert Tools series - breezy atmospheric house, stacked with 'floor ready trax, inspired by his red hot Magic Wire imprint. It also saw him present an inspired instalment for the venerable DJ Kicks series. (Mixmag number 2 compilation 2017)

Now freshening up for 2018, Volume 3 finds Lone in vintage form - 'Temples' reconciles his love of heavy breakbeats with the nagging euphoric melodies, tracer thin synth lines and angular bass for which he is so beloved. 'Hyper Seconds' once again displays Cutler's ability to channel the grooves of classic US house with a banging rhythm track and glistening gated arpeggios contrast perfectly for a rugged peak time bliss out.

With this latest instalment of 'Ambivert Tools' it's fair to say that Cutler has proved himself one of the most consistent delivers of quality dancefloor tackle that perfectly balances the need for radiant melody / harmony with tough grooves and psychedelic experimentation.

R-Time Records releases two tracks from Iceland's Sanasol, aka Thor and Yagya, entitled'Long Lost Thoughts' - originally appearing on 'Deep Thoughts' LP via Hey Babe! in '97.

Out of all of Thor's aliases, which includes OZ Artists, Flow Machine and Thor54, Sanasol - his duo project alongside Yagya - is arguably the most prolific. On top of appearances on Thor's own renowned imprint Thule Records, as Sanasol the pair have released on Fear Of Flying, Connaisseur Supérieur and Alex Azary and Pascal F.E.O.S.'s Hey Babe!, of which the latter homed the 'Deep Thoughts' album. Matt Edwards' R-Time now releases two of the long player's finest tracks, following recent revivals of timeless music by Sir Lord Commix and FBK.

'Long Lost Thoughts' begins by utilising filtered chord stabs alongside a thumping bass and sustained strings before the track progresses with ethereal pads combined with resonant bells playing a top line melody. On the flip, 'In The Sky Of Normality' presents shuffled drums with crisp hi-hats and a strong low-end whilst delayed synths pan left and right throughout keeping things atmospheric and mesmerising.
