House Vinyl New Releases - News

Glasgow's Wheelman provides the tenth iteration of DBA's Dubs series, following a series of high profile releases on Huntleys & Palmers, Studio Barnhus, and his own Stereotone label. Signal is Wheelman's most ambitious effort to date, its searing amen stabs and deep sub bass guaranteed to wreck any club, while floating pads and crystalline strings add a bittersweet moment of rave nostalgia to the breakdown.

On the flip, in line with the DBA Dubs concept of pairing a house track from an up and coming UK producer with a remix by an established techno name from across the pond, Detroit In Effect provide a cold, bleep-drenched take which raises the tempo of Wheelman's original to an almost breakneck speed. D.I.E, also known as Cybonix, were prolific throughout the late 90s and early 00s on their own M.A.P. label and more recently on Rotterdam's Clone.

To coincide with the release of the tenth edition in the DBA Dubs series the label are also making all ten original tracks available as a digital package, while all ten of the remixes from the series get their own bundle, with Wheelman and Basic Soul Unit providing a megamix of each edition respectively.

German producer Christian Burkhardt teams up with fellow countrymen Chris Wood & Meat for a three-track release on Jamie Jones' Hottrax this May.
Burkhardt has been flying the flag for minimalist electronic music for a decade now, releasing on labels such as Cocoon, Oslo and Pressure Traxx. Likewise, Freebase Records founders Meat + Chris Wood have been purveying deep and minimal cuts individually since the '00s, joining forces in 2009 before releasing on labels like Desolat, Housewax and Tiefschwarz' Souvenir. Between the three of them they've continually garnered support from the upper echelons of House and Techno, making regular appearances in the sets of names like Ricardo Villalobos, Sven Väth, Seth Troxler and Jamie Jones.
Intricate percussion and a compelling bassline make up the foundation of 'Closer 2 U' as an echoing vocal and tense strings operate throughout. Meanwhile, 'Plain' is a more downtempo cut in comparison with its dusky atmospherics and distorted spoken word samples that subtly permeate throughout the mix. On the flip, 'Trumpad' is deep and dubby whilst integrating trippy synths and mesmerizing effects for a rhythmic conclusion.

Founding member and co-creator of 'Aiwo rec.' DJ Normal 4 delivers Second Circle's eleventh release to date with the EP 'Exoticz'. Raised close to Düsseldorf in the Ruhr Area, Normal 4 grew up amongst a landscape of dusty factory skeletons and abandoned machine complexes in a formerly thriving industrial conglomerate. Bringing his signature sound of broken industrial dreams mixed with escapist rave fantasies, Normal 4 delves into the archives with two tracks 'Kalaidoka' and 'Aeo' recorded around 2011/2012, alongside a new track 'La Arabia'. Produced at Altstadt Studio Mülheim an der Ruhr, with Normal 4's good friend Anke Preuß on guitar and vocals, 'Aeo' is given the remix treatment by Phillip Otterbach on the 'Aeo (Ottertasia Mix)'. On the B side the synth freak out 'Kalaidoka' is followed by 'La Arabia' which rides the breaks into a dusty moonlit desert rave.

Mike Dunn digs deeper into the vaults to deliver the fourth instalment of his 'We R Tuesday Nights' edits, like the previous 12's, four killer disco tracks edited to perfection by the Chicago legend.

Ray Kandinski embarks on the fifteenth expedition into the exotic lands of palm trees and blue skies with the moody and hazy 'Cressida' EP for Shall Not Fade sister-label Lost Palms. Expedition fifteen features four jams packed full of dusty synth lines, spacey soundscapes and eerie vocals

The Song Says - Bruno Pronsato´s label restarts after 4 years of hiatus with a Vinyl Version of his seminal "Lovers Do"

It's been fours years since the original release of Lovers Do. For the first time now finally released on vinyl. In the meantime he's kept very busy--primarily with side projects. First there was Others, his experimental house outfit with Daze Maxim. Then came Public Lover, his duo with the French artist Ninca Leece that debuted last year on thesongsays (Bruno's label). He's continued to join forces with Sammy Dee as Half Hawaii, playing live shows around Europe and putting out tracks on Perlon and Diamonds & Pearls. As half of the duo Ndf, he coproduced Since We Last Met, a single that marked his debut on DFA and landed in Pitchfork's top tracks of the year. But while he was juggling all these different projects, one piece of music was slowly taking shape: his third and most immersive album, Lovers Do. Like much of Bruno's work to date, Lovers Do is experimental without being snobby--or to use his own term, accidentally avantgarde'-- but this one takes it further than the others. It has a looseness that's truly rare in techno, scrapping formulaic verses and breaks, it winds along like an abstract sketch, guided by intuition instead of logic. Some songs are fraught with nervous tension, others are soothing and rich with detail, from dappling rhodes to orchestral swells, jazzy drum fills and wet hand claps. Human voices swirl in and out of the mix, serving only to make things more surreal. Many of the tracks stretch well beyond ten minutes, one bows out after less than three. The album overall is delicate and subtle, but it also features Bruno's best club tune in years, the eerie and delirious Feel Right.' Brian Eno once described his own

"This takes me back! 1991... Joe, Damo and I used to hit every Biology at the docks. We were young and skint, but somehow managed to always make it to the rave. We were so up for it! The vibes were sick... good music... best mates... and the ecstasy... mannn those little fuckers (Damo from Carlton north, if you ever listen to this on here, hit me up brother!). I'm a family man in my 40s now but this music takes me back to my 20s, I close my eyes and I can still feel the rush, the heat of everyone crammed into those warehouses and the huge, stupid grin on my face.'

HOMAGE returns for their fourth release with the debut EP from Irish playboy KETTAMA. The Galway native is quickly becoming Ireland's most exciting electronic music name, known for his hard-hitting tracks laced with old school samples and classic rave sounds. The EP's highly anticipated single, "B O D Y," is making waves online thanks to Mall Grab givin' it the heavy rinse cycle, most recently to a huge crowd at Lost & Found Festival during a b2b with Mella Dee and Denis Sulta. The EP's B-side is equally as big, housing two absolute peak-hour rave weapons. KETTAMA's Bucklyn Bridge EP is one hell of a debut, and what better home for it than HOMAGE, the New York City label voted most likely to sustain themselves on bodega sandwiches.

Not content with already steering the Vigenere and Oscillat labels and appearing regularly on Will & Ink and Lazare Hoche, Malin Genie has launched his own self-titled label as a vessel for his most intriguing twists on the house and techno template. The record strides in with the tracky tones of "Hypothetical Island Of Stability," a feast of micro pops and squiggles strapped to a rock solid beat. "Fudeoroshi" is more overtly minimalist in nature, using the barest of ingredients to make a potent dancefloor cut. "Bulbocavernosa" opens up the filters and lets a little nasty acid fun and games into the mix, and then "Mer Neith It Es" rounds the record off with a soaring slice of melodic, deep techno that stands confidently apart from the rest of the tracks.

To coincide with their 8th year, Toitoi gear up for their biggest release yet with Ricardo Villalobos & Argenis Brito teaming up under 'Pol & Pox'. 'El Malekon' kicks things off in typically trippy fashion with loose percussive groove and a subdued bassline line whilst disembodied vocals swirl in and out of the mix. 'Rikileaks' conjures up more aquatic joy, this time with a more pronounced male vocal being the centre point to another beautifully meandering 11 minute ride.

Undo (Gabriel Berlanga) introduces his third album Disconnect, with ten songs written, recorded and produced during 2015 and 2016. On Disconnect Undo blends different influences using both new and old analogue gear combined with digital plug-ins and FX to create his own recognizable sound after more than 10 years on the road.

Opening track "Disconnect" finds Undo playing with psychedelic synths and singing shyly. We also hear vocals but in a very diferent mood onthe funny, funky and sexy "Computer Friends" and on "Autómatas", an electro cut that demands a reaction against the established injustice. There are vocals as well on the last track of the album, this time with an epic vocoder because at the end "We've Got To Fight". Djs will likely gravitate toward the unstoppable trance synth of "The Arptist", the chug-techno tension on "Acid Prophet", the shuffled beats and endless harmony of "Setembre" and the dreamy melodies of "Interferencias" and "Sunmachine".

Following on from the odd pair of sox that was OddSox Vol. 1, we have been busy curating our next journey and we have recruited some fine talent to guide us on this ride. We go across the globe, straddle the stratosphere before going on an interstellar adventure.

Leading the way is Switzerland's M44K. Gaining a proper reputation online for his sublime edits and lo-fi cuts (last year's E-Beamz with DJ Seinfield for example), we have caught M44K on a serious deep exploration with infectious bassline and dreamy pads. We couldn't think of a better way to lift off OddSox Vol. 2 than 'Marsone.'

Parisian, Larry Houl, follows up with 'Algerian Flag on the Moon.' Another elbow moving bassline that you'll be humming nonstop, and some sumptuous, glorious pads. Working closely with Flabaire in Secret Value Orchestra and a release on London imprint Feelings LDN, Larry is absolutely one to look out for!

Flipping over to the B, let your mind and soul wander with 'Mesta.' With a delightful release on Blind Jacks Journey and his own label dropping serious heat from Harrison BDP, Aleksandir delivers a divine blend of dream house and rough, rugged, rumbling bass.

Bringing us back down to earth is a man from Portland, who is on some serious form. Coming to our attention with his release on 100% Silk, Akasha System's deep and dark 'Astral Jam' ends the cosmic trip with a bang.

Support and love from: DABJ, Dom Capello, Eclair Fifi, Peach, TRP, Red Rack'em, Mark Archer, Marco Bernardi, Grant, Fabrice Lig, Derek Carr, Piff Records and more.

First release from the Plastik People sub label "Rhythm People". Soledrifter steps up with two club orientated garage house cuts with two superb remixes from Mike Millrain & Smokey Bubblin' B rounded off this amazing EP

Essential repress of 1992 Trax / Saber rarity. Ace & Sandman aka the mighty Virgo 4 with some ultra-deep machine jams drenched in soul. A truly unique release that across 3 tracks shows the sophisticated style and musicality that are trademarks of the classic Virgo sound. This is one for all the box-jammers, deep house heads and Chicago aficionados. You need this one. Flawless all the way down from the top. Remastered and repressed legitimately by Above Board distribution from the original source materials. Classic material.

Initially described as 'superlative 25th century electronic exotica' by Cowboy Rhythmbox themselves, the fourth EP from Phantasy's in-house trouble and hitmakers received support from top jocks including Dixon, Jackmaster and Marcel Dettmann. Now, it's dynamic lead track is rejigged, expanded upon and shot through with analogue energy by two equally inventive producer pairings. Fellow outsiders on the inside of the house of house, Israel's finest Red Axes take the first turn, coaxing the cosmos out of the original and allowing the bewildering vocal samples to lead the way through waves of more than pleasurable cosmic tension. Soon, with the timing just right, feet to pedals and strobe to hand, the pair unleash a series of distorted guitar licks that blow dust off the stacks, even throwing in a sharp blast of their trademark surrealist vocals for extra freaky FX. On the flip, Marvin and Guy zone out and hone in on the original's EBM-indebted elements to contribute a trippy, wave-riding electro rework that oscillates irresistibly. Teasing listeners with a playful, almost naive synth line, the mood shimmers instead with uncompromising acid, as the pair ultimately push the modulars into strange and hypnotic territories to get lost in.

Look we're five records deep and yes, we aren't sure which tune is on which side... But luckily, this release is as high concept as Speed 2: Cruise Control. On one side you will find 'AD', which samples an inspiring speech given by the heroic Angela Davis at Southbank in 2017. Listen to her wisdom as you play this in your front room at 7am to people who suddenly can't quite look at their hands properly. The other side "PAS" greets you with warnings of atomic explosions over a riotous jam between a Yamaha CS-10 and a sturdy analogue 808 clone. If you have a pressing need for air raid sirens, this is for you. We hope you like this West Friends Release. There will be more..

Yoruba Records is ecstatic to welcome back Hallex M with our latest release, the 'Oggun EP'. Kicking off with the title track, Carlos Mena lends his voice to give praise to Oggun, the warrior-protector Orisha, in this low end heavy and celebratory groove. Slowing things down a bit, 'Lhasa' is a more subtle and relaxing cut, teasing you with a beautiful piano melody and funky bassline. Nickodemus gets to work with his remix of the title track 'Oggun'. Giving this a treatment with a thick and stubby bass, this mix takes things to a deeper territory appreciated by discerning dancefloors. We round out the EP with 'Show You The World', a laid-back love song featuring the warm and inviting vocals of Gabriele Poso. Once again Hallex shows his prowess in crafting emotionally intelligent dancefloor tunes; we hope you enjoy these as much as we have enjoyed bringing them to you!

Producer and vocalist Kevin Knapp delivers his killer new single Blah Blah Blah, returning to the Hot Creations fold after last years vocal feature on Jamie Jones' Positive Pressure. Here, Jamie returns the favour, partnering with another label favourite, Detlef, to supply a monster of a remix.

Finding time in his hectic schedule of touring the world, running various record labels and his Paradise parties, Jamie Jones teams up with one of his Paradise residents Detlef to deliver an audacious remix, perfect for the twilight hours. Hardy percussion, acid blips and pulses meld together to form a bolshy, no-frills remix. Greek artist Detlef shot into the limelight in recent years with releases and remixes on labels like Hot Creations, Relief, Knee Deep In Sound, Moon Harbour, and Defected.

Kevin Knapp gained attention with a string collaborations with Audiojack (Gruuv, 2012), Matt Tolfrey (Leftroom, 2012) and his debut Hot Creations cut with Richy Ahmed (2013). A prolific producer and featured vocalist since 2011, Kevin has released on the likes of Hottrax, Crosstown Rebels, Dirtybird, Mother Recordings and more.

Under cover for many years, this Affie Yusuf two tracker finally sees the light of day on the acclaimed Mindyourhead imprint. Comes on a generally deep green, mixed colour marbled 12'' vinyl.

Affie Yusuf paved the way UK Acid House scene and so much more, releasing Techno and Acid throughout his career. Mindyourhead Records recognises that sometimes you need to look a little bit into the past to move ahead and has re-launched the label with this vinyl only release.

'Parrot Soup' is a fine example of just how a track title can have absolutely no relevance to the music whatsoever. This is a lovingly constructed example of how to convey images with sound; this music renders images brimming with joy and loss, icy cold chills and the warmth of the first rays of sun on a spring morning. Tight, punchy drums with crisp 808 snares and driving toms lovingly complimented with dream-like pad sequences, soul searching strings and lush bassline form a quality crossover track that will appeal to lovers of many styles of Techno and House.

The second release of Supergenius Records showcases Too Smooth Christ's houz crafts. Four mysterious Jams conceived as encounters between fuzzy darkness and brighter bittersweet melodies. Cold Sept, a short drumless tracks closes the ep.

youANDme is a duo that has long been associated with the Berlin scene and quality house and techno. They have released on the likes of Cocoon and Desolat amongst others, and run their own Rotary Cocktail label, plus Polymorph and a few other mysterious outlets. Picking up props from big name players and at home remixing the likes of Seth Troxler and Lawrence, this pair has nearly a decade in the game behind them, and it shows in their accomplished sounds.

Opener 'PPPPP (Diva Mix)' is a truly compelling house track with an effortlessly groovy feel, disco fried stabs and smooth wood block hits that glide the thing along. It is party starting yet subtle, big yet clever and has some firing vocal samples to really set the track alight.

The just as essential Drunken Diva Mix is a rework that has playful drums dropping in and out, bigger stabs and more cut up energy thanks to lots of careful tweaks. It is freewheeling and charming and cannot fail to make you move. Lastly, an instrumental version is supplied for purely physical dance floor deployment, and is sure to be devastating.

Early support coming from the likes of Dubfire, Groove Armada, tINI, Huxley, Visionquest, Jon Dasilva and more

Second chapter for "Beauty and simplicty", the exclusively project created by George Btp aka Allstarr Motomusic for Deep Explorer . Darshan Jesrani's new project Funn City continues to break open the notion of modern vs. retro and challenges the listener to categorize what is found inside. Extending the experiment in modern disco without re-treading already explored ground, Funn City offers a playful and rebellious approach to the recombination of old and new. Funn City sticks lightly to the fusion of live and electronic instruments, and heavily to its varied influences from rock and r&b to house and techno, yet casts them in a delirious, neon-lit sheen. 'All-Night People,' the project's first offering, is a relentlessly-upbeat, vivid, saturated trip of a maxi-single inspired by that liminal area of late-70s dance music which existed between shitty, bluesy rock, new wave and disco. Otherworldly, gurgling synths surf atop truncated, slashing guitar and thick, pattering congas. Taut synth sequences spar with sinewy lead lines and trashy vocals, bound together by a precise, modern sensibility, enticing you to waste your time inside a glorious, pinball machine dream. The dub on Side B works most of the same features but empties out the arrangement and infuses the mix with a bubbling, techno-inspired sequence and phaser-licked synth to create a new, more streamlined groove for the track-oriented dancefloor and style of play. Startree is proud to present this first release as a mission-statement in musical form and an indicator of things to come.

Stock find from this in-demand 2010 release! A spacier sound from GB cruising in more of an electronic club groove. "The Expander" side has the busier approach while the flip sides "The Dreamer" is well, dreamier and a bit lighter. Well recommended - Tip!

Beef Records' latest 12" brings a flavour of the underground sound of Sydney. Jaded & James Petrou are two guys behind the city's infamous party Kinky Disco and have now locked themselves down in the studio to produce two hypnotic underground cuts. 'Toni's Pain'is a moody, chugging deep house cut using a sample of Toni Braxton that twists her up in all sorts of new ways, while 'Rollin Stone' gives similar treatment to The Temptations/The Undisputed Truth's classic vocal. The title track comes backed by two of the most in demand artists right now - INXEC and No Artificial Colours. First remixer INXEC (aka Chris Sylvester) is in a white-hot streak of form at the moment with particular highlights on Crosstown Rebels and Leftroom. The second remix is by the No Artificial Colours duo who are equally on form with recent plays of their groovy tracks by Jamie Jones, Lee Foss and Maya Jane Coles. The NAC remix of 'Toni's Pain' is getting great support already and has been licensed for a future Ministry Of Sound compilation.

"These are Love Notes" from Chicago this time as the Brooklyn based label offers a platform for a glimpse into the state of the Chicago undergound. Three original tracks from Chicago man-about-town, Shmoo, and a remix from one of the brightest lights in Chicago's modern scene and one of the more exciting young American producers out there, Garrett David. Standout tracks are Sidehacker, which opens the EP and is a wild ride through swirling pads, with a bedrock bassline that holds everything together, and David's remix of Intuitive Intellect's Waste, wherein he crafts the track into a very modern sounding slice of uplifting house. Crosstown Rebels deliver their next album in the form of a masterful offering from Chic Miniature. The cosmic duo, Ernesto Ferreyra and Guillaume Coutu Dumont make a welcome return to the label with eight tracks of melodic bliss.Fourteen years in the making, a thread of mystery weaves its way through the tapestry of this melancholic LP. It's a true journey through a sublime sonic soundscape. Opening track Adormecido is shrouded in mystery, closely followed by Miso Drunky with its tribal drums and dramatic synth stabs. Kaléidoscope bubbles up next, swiftly followed by Tilt with its genteel cowbell. Then comes Año Uno the first track created back in 2004 with its impressive church-like bells. Suki Ni is twinkling and sublime that flows into the delicate groove of Let It Slide, which samples an ambient rain storm. The album closes on La Sandunga gracefully littered with plentiful percussion.Of the album, the pair explain how they were 'raised on old technology and integrated the newer technology in our everyday lives as it was developing' a fact that is clearly apparent upon listening to the album. They give a sonic hat tip to their 'love of melancholic melodies....almost always rooted in the past, but to us, no time is attached. Are the new machines dreaming about the past, or are the new ones contemplating the future that lays ahead'. The album proves their ability to fuse the new with the old to create an album bursting with timeless tracks.Ernesto Ferreyra and Guillaume Coutu Dumont's partnership is a true meeting of musical minds. Their first release was gifted to us way back in 2005- the Conexio´n Califa EP released on German imprint Raum Musik. Since then they've released on Musique Risque´e as well as a previous EP on Crosstown Rebels. Individually, they've released a plethora of music with Ferreyra also heading up his own label Loosen Up Records and Guillaume signing music to Musique Risquée amongst others.
