Arnold Jarvis should be a familiar name to you if you're a fan of deep House and classic NJ Garage sounds. The unique voice behind many classics of the genre including the mighty, anthemic 'Take some time out' on NYC's cult Fourth Floor imprint from 1987 as well as lacing Satoshi Tomiie's huge 'And I loved you'. Needless to say Arnold has lived house music, he's been in the game for numerous years and has collaborated with a host of incredible artists including Kerri Chandler, Louie Vega, Dennis Ferrer and too many more to mention! Now, we flashback to London, 1994, Arnold Jarvis records a session with the UK's Ian Tregoning (aka Trego) for the label Subwoofer, a sub-label of Freetown records. Ian Tregoning is an engineer whose pedigree has seen him form an integral part of the massively influential Warriors Dance crew and man the boards for artists like Yello, Carlos Peron, S'Express, Orbital and many more. The record consisted of 4 mixes and dubs of 'The way you', a sublime deep garage groove of the highest degree featuring Tregoning's mixing desk prowess and Jarvis' soulful vocals that never saw the light of day due to some tragic events. Existing only as a white label for the last 20+ years and finding favour among the deepest house diggers 'The way you' is something of a lost gem. It's unknown how many white labels were pressed of this sleeper record but it wasn't a big quantity at all, making this a truly rare and sought after record. Luckily we at Mint Condition HQ can count Ian Tregoning as a close friend and associate and through some discussion the idea was hatched to release 'The way you' 'properly' for the first time, now in 2017. Access to Ian's original DAT's was granted, Arnold came on-board too and gave his blessing and the next thing you know we have this finely crafted, remastered and official version of this lovingly restored lost 12". A piece of mid 90's house history, made available again to a wider audience for the first time. Beautiful. Records like this don't pop up everyday at all.

Warehouse Find!

Scottish producer Austin Ato has been making waves the last couple of years having had well received releases on Futureboogie and Phonica White and this year looks to be his best yet! Remixes for Folamour on Classic, Balako on Greco Roman and an EP for Man Power's label Me Me Me will be dropping in the coming weeks, paving the way for his Delusions Of Grandeur debut double A side; Ella / Putting It In My Way.

On Ella we see Austin deliver some pure, unadulterated, house pleasure over eight minutes (although for us it feels like it could go on for days!). A filtering disco loop, synth melody, string stabs, all reinforced by punchy drums and that all important vocal chop. A simple recipe for a track when cooked up in the right way with love, passion and experience.

Flipping over to the AA, Putting It In My Way drops in somewhat bipolar fashion, a barrage of percussive beats and rolling snares building to a drop where Austin Ato skilfully switches the vibe completely, bringing in deep pads, rolling bassline and his own inimitable vocals. A totally unique track which harks back to the good old days when house music had a soulful and musical touch which connected instantly with the dance floor. This feels to us like a producer marking his arrival as an artist to watch closely for, and whose talent extends way beyond the confines of your standard four on the floor fodder.
Closing the release we have an Instrumental Version of Putting It In My Way which may well be your choice for the deeper moments, letting the groove push to the fore and the lush chords shine through the haze of dubby stabs and twisting synth line.

In those times of newfound experimental conformity, it is sometimes needed to go back to simplicity. This may be where DJ OIL is leading us to. You think you know what you can expect but common ground is not always in your head, it is sometimes under your feet.

Some more Mexican music on Quintessentials! This time from long time buddy 4004, another driving force in Mexico and already an established producer with releases on labels like Freerange, Faces, Vicario Ltd or Quintessentials. Mostly doing stuff on his own, Quintessentials 56 features a great collab track with Stuttgart's Stylus Heat. I'm not sure if we find 4004 reasons to like you Gerardo, but there are definitely two: you're a cool fella and we love your music - simple as that!

With a knack for creating tracks that not only work well on the dancefloor, but also last long after the release cycle, the mighty Shiba San returns to Dirtybird with two unique bangers you won't soon forget.Leading off the release, 'Don't Talk' doesn't need a vocal to say something. Shiba uses rhythms, beats, reverb and pitch to create an oddball, attention-grabbing techno track that is sure to be around for ages.A mosquito alarm emits a high frequency sound that can be heard by bugs and dogs. But the heavy low end bass on Shiba's second track 'Moskito', has the exact opposite effect and attracts ravers from miles around to the dance floor.

Both Anil Aras and SlapFunk Records got raised in the middle of the Netherlands in Utrecht, we managed to come to some amazing places with our music but we will never forget were we came from, Utrecht is in our blood and this release is a tribute to the place we will always love. The 12th Release from GIANT RECORDS is from BASEMENT UK - Abian Saavedra and Brando Morales are two young producers that hail from the Canary islands and both
have a massive love and respect for the early UK HOUSE & GARAGE sound - hence their name. Their track - GANGSTA - lends itself to the above mentioned sound and
could surely stand the test of time among those early classics and it reminds us of an early Grant Nelson Nice&Ripe groove, Wicked swinging drums and hats that all sit comfortably on a low sub bass and spoken word jam.

After two years An-2 is breaking the silence with his new EP demonstrating a fully refreshed sonic palette he's been in the search of. Built over a quirky synth bass line, 'Beside me' is filled with all the right melodic elements that walk a thin line between sounding baroque yet minimalistic at the same time.

Like all great music, it's difficult to pinpoint what this sounds like exactly - but Toronto's Block Univers have cited their influences to include "boogie, house music, cold wave synths, gospel vocals, 808s and moog basslines" - so that would go some way to explaining the magic here. Chus + Ceballos join New York label Nervous Records with an infectious single titled 'More I Want U' featuring remixes from house luminaries DJ Pierre and DJ Vibe.

For many years now both Nervous and Chus + Ceballos have been flying the flag for New York's house music scene. However, aside from collaborating on their 'Back On Tracks' mix CDs nearly a decade ago, the two have never teamed up for a release. Having pioneered the Iberican sound, the Spanish DJ/producer duo have indisputably earned themselves legend status as they continue topping the charts whilst headlining the globe's elite venues, not to mention the perpetual success of Chus' renowned label Stereo Productions.

A long-time platform for illustrious producers, Nervous Records is now set to release the pair's forthcoming single with remixes from none other than acid house pioneer DJ Pierre and tribal house stalwart DJ Vibe.

For the latter half of 2016 SAFT is proud to announce a release by the one and only funketeer and Pasadena based connoisseur of the true underground funk-music ''DaM Funk''. The trans atlantic collaboration between the Canary Islands based label and DaM FunK resulted in ''Architecture''. A 3 track limited -500 copies- slice of otherworldly synths, drum machines and percussive grooves that showcase the true west coast sound of modern funk. ''Break Out'' A1 is a true spaced out cut, completed with intrusive snares. Hazy melodies and vocal like rompler sounds that cut throughout. ''Hazy Stomp'' is a 21st century boogie dream that utilizes a funked out bassline that shifts and slides throughout the song and determines the atmosphere. Hazy chords and additional percussion make for a beautifully orchestrated tune that will linger through people's minds for a long time. Serge Devant returns to one of his favoured label's with his White Groove EP, delivering a pair of deep, textured tracks that'll vitalise any rigid dancefloor. Archie Hamilton makes his Crosstown Rebels debut and supplies a punchy, tripped-out revision of lead track, White Groove.

White Groove is an absorbing mix of rumbling sub bass, soft, textured percussion, and ethereal pads. Loose percussion and a tough kick carve out the initial vibe on Connect To Server. A hypnotising, low-riding synth is the final layer and helps generate even more groove into this peak time roller.

Archie Hamilton switches up White Groove, revising the bassline into a buzzing, forward pushing rhythm but retains the mystical feel of the original, bolstering the whirring pads and using intricate percussive sounds and FX.

Serge Devant hails from Brooklyn, New York and released his seminal track Fearing Love in 2015 on Emerald City. Since then he's been championed by Damian Lazarus, a firm favourite on both Crosstown Rebels and Rebellion, whilst also receiving plaudits for his releases on Knee Deep In Sound and Circus Recordings. Moscow Records, Moss.Co and Arkityp owner Archie Hamilton is one of the UK's most promising talents, consistently releasing high quality house and techno on the likes of Get Physical, Fuse London, 2020 Vision, Fear of Flying among others.

It seems like the Italians are well and truly taking over here at
Freerange these days. Following hot on the heels of releases from Stefano Ritteri and Bugsy we now present you with a brilliant three tracker from Rome-based producer Whitesquare. Known for previous releases on 2020 Vision and Toy Tonics Whitesquare has switched up his sound a little to delve deeper into the world of Afro-inspired electronic house which fits perfectly on Freerange and should appeal to fans of Hyenah, Rancido and
the Keinemusik crew. Title track Traces To Nowhere sets the tone, taking it's roots from the precision sonics and reduced approach of Berlin minimalism but infused with a warm, organic sound palette, resulting in a deep and atmospheric track which is powerful yet understated. Flipping over we have Understand, another hypnotic mood-setter which utilises a repeating vocal, percussion fills and a killer sub bass to create a track which places all the emphasis on the paired-back groove and
subtle detail. Rounding off the EP we have Suivre, a conga-heavy drum tool which mashes up live jazz drumming with a driving kick and echoing vocal to great effect. The sense of space makes this one a winner for changing things up in the mix and sounds fearsome on a big system. Three lovingly crafted
tracks which bridge the gap between Berlin and Johannesburg, bringing a fresh yet appealing sound to please dance floors worldwide.

At long last! We're delighted to present a hypnotic time-capsule courtesy of Dissmentado aka Ismael Pinkler from Carisma and Kompakt collaborator, Máximo Graesse Bondino.

Recorded during summer trips in Buenos Aires and spending autumn in Tromso, Norway between 2006 - 2010, Maximo and Ismael met several times during that period and used friends houses and studios to produce a long list of material, selecting later the best of it for this compilation.

The tracks are long and slow, with deep and moving beats and long background sounds dedicated to warm up dreamers and after hour survivors.

The elements develop their movements in a relaxed way through the tracks creating a loose feel. Every beat was played with their hands and there is no arpeggiated melodies to remind you where the ground is.

The release is complemented by a beautiful artwork by the supremely talented Glasgow-based artist, Rosie McGurn

Matt Karmil, Pional, Marc Piñol and Dandara shed a new light on Slowciety's previous record: Guru. Guru Remixes opens with a mesmerising and brooding interpretation of the self-titled by Matt Karmil, recalling the raw textures of the UK-producer's LP. Pional's remix comes next with a powerful treatment of Elephant, once again proving the dancefloor expertise of the Madrid-based producer. He delivers the shamanic experience from the original track and pushes it forward with soaring percussive elements & beats layered on a 90's-esque emotive pad. Marc Piñol opens the B-side with a groovy remix of Guru, described by the man himself as a 122 BPM after party tool. A heady bassline loop, as well as dry & twisted sounds beefed up by Karmil's work on the
mastering, lead the remix to a hypnotic ride, pure and efficient. Last but not least, Swiss producer Dandara brings his tribal touch to the sensual Utopia'. A slow melodic dancefloor piece which smoothly closes this third record.

Recorded in an ageing holiday park during off-season, Center Parcs is the debut LP by Dutch artists Betonkust & Palmbomen II; a conceptual, musical-tristesse full of lo-fi harmony, and fanciful, psychedelic-coloured modulations, with an undercurrent of saturated, outsider-house beats, all recorded to tape. With a shared passion for experimental music, and gnarled Dutch electro, the duo have crafted an LP of esoteric-electronic-pop, reflective of the time the two spent holed-up in isolation, in the out-of-time Center Parcs setting.

Palmbomen II a.k.a. Kai Hugo, is the electronic-focused, alter-ego of Palmbomen. Existing in his secondary iteration, Palmbomen II gained notoriety for his alternative, warped style, having released two LPs, both receiving critical acclaim. Originally from the Netherlands and now living in Los Angeles, his musical relationship with Betonkust stretches back several years, leading to a unique live, and studio-working symbiosis. Meanwhile Betonkust — hailing from the westerly Dutch shores — has been notching up kudos points with his Detroit-like analogue sound. Having found their studio-synchronicity, the duo have already notched up a couple of select EP releases, plus a featured track on Dekmantel's 10 year anniversary series.

'It's a weird environment, but we like it,' Palmbomen II says about Center Parcs, where the album was recorded. Originally built in the 70s, Center Parcs De Eemhof in Zeewolde provides a pseudo-tropical environment for vacationing families, with an ageing, ersatz jungle; its faux decor gradually fading to grey. Recorded during the winter, the two Dutch men took-up home in one the park's chalets with select hardware — predominately synths and drum machines — and recorded all of their progress to tape. Being the only occupants in the melancholic, somber settings, the duo made an LP that was reflective of the unpretentious surroundings. 'Some people think it's ironic, but this is not a tongue-in-cheek joke,' Hugo says about the record. 'There's sadness here that people try not to hide.'

Everything on Center Parcs was recorded on hardware, in the moment; 'real jams' as the guys describe them. No computers. It was through this in-the-present-process that led to the recondite, lo-fi shoegaze record, reflective of their shared influences — from the likes of I-F. through to Cocteau Twins. Opener '24x33', has a reverberated VHS aesthetic; 'De rust die je zocht' ('The peace you were looking for') sounds like an angelic score to a forgotten family game show; 'Nintendo Pantera' a solemn, upbeat Detroit-retroffited-vapourware melody. The album is a follow up to the Center Parcs EP - the producer's debut cassette release on Canadian label 1080p in 2016. This will be the first time that these tracks have been made widely available, and on vinyl release, and is seen by both artists as a chance to expand on the moment that they captured together - to share the beautiful-tristesse with all.

Francis Harris is a founding member of the Scissor & Thread label - a Brooklyn-based imprint established 2011 as an outlet for deeper, more personal sounds, as well as music from a range of associated artists including black light smoke, Bob Moses, Frank & Tony, DJ Aakmael, Desert Sound Colony and Aris Kindt, to name a few. Harris' own output has gone from tightly wound tech house cuts as Adultnapper in the early days, sublime deep house as Frank & Tony, intricate and expressive musical journeys as evident in his two solo-albums 'Leland' and 'Minutes Of Sleep', and ambient shoegaze with two Aris Kindt albums, co-produced with Gabe Hedrick. Most recently Harris branched out with a new label - Kingdoms - a home for his love of a more adventurous sound. Now we are proud to present his new solo single, the first since the release of 'Minutes of Sleep', 'Minor Forms'which includes two remarkable remixes by Valentino Mora. 'More We Cannot Do' is a perfect example of Harris' feel for depth and dynamics - a track that feels submerged in a warm amniotic fluid cocooning the listener in a thick subby bassline, providing much of the groove, with skittering percussion on top and intricate fragments of melody throughout leading to a wonderful moment with live vibraphone provided by New York player Will Shore. 'Minor Forms', the EP's title track is cut from similar cloth - emerging from a subtly distant place to inhabit a melancholic, beautifully evocative space - somewhere between ambient, jazz and the dancefloor. Joining Harris is Greg Paulus on Trumpet, a long time friend and collaborator adding his signature touch to an already moving piece.

After his separation from Playhouse in 2007 and the rather longish break that followed it, it looks as if Isolée has finally found their new homebase with Pampa Records. Evidence of this may be found in such unprejudiced tracks as 'Taktell", a single extracted from the album 'Well-Spent Youth' . As is tyical for Isolée, it defies any clear-cut genre classification and creates its very own harmonic setting, merging associations of pop, house and distant landscapes into a unique sound voyage. Now his second EP on Pampa is being released, and 'Allowance' doesn't leave an inch of a doubt where the road is headed. Without making any concessions to the needs of a DJ, from bar one the theme is being introduced in all its inherent necessity and then continually established until a seemingly worn-out, mainstream, pop autotune voice settles upon the cosy bass bed just like a cherry on the cake. We haven't known Isolée anywhere near as free and poppy in a very long time. A more mix-friendly version of the track will be available for digital download. 'You Could Do Your Memories' lures the listener away into a daydream, as if he suddenly found himself in an unknown place at a new-wave party that cannot possibly have happened the way it did. 'Wobble", on the other hand, leaves only few questions unanswered, the party definitely looks familiar, and just when we reach that point where the funk motif resulting from the fusion of bassline and chords is threatening to wear us down, we are being released.
