Roy Davis, Jr.'s Undaground Therapy Muzik label relaunches after almost 20 years with Al Zanders' Guidance EP. Al Zanders approach to his first EP of 2018 is as precise as it is whimsical. Featuring 4 tracks showing Zanders sheer versatile when it comes to making music. Opened by piano-percussion track Martha's Revenge which is made so clearly for dance floors, followed by Television, a chance for a closed- eyes boogie be it on a dance floor in the middle of a set, or on the sofa at home. On the b-side, Likes For Cash's comedic title is met in contrast with a piercing synth top-line and stripped back drums, with just enough of a bassline to sit in-between the drums and synths. Closing the EP is Guidance, a reflective and a chance for the EP to close as well as it would close a dance floor when the lights come on at the end of the night.

Launched in 1996 by Roy Davis Jr. & Odell Braziel, Undaground Therapy Muzik born out of Chicago was a label that went on to help shape artists such as Seth Troxler & Daft Punk amongst many other acclaimed DJs & Producers during their early years and released some of Paul Johnson & Eddie Fowlkes earliest releases. The label championed young and new talent from around the world within House & Disco music and remains home to some of Roy Davis Jr.'s most well known records today. Now relaunching in 2018, the label still headed by Roy and now partnered with AD Music Group in London, the label will continue with the same ethos, to support new and emerging talent within House, Disco & Techno, and continue to release on vinyl, unapologetically focusing on the quality of sound production of which was so key to the labels success in the 90's.

German producer Philipp Priebe is set to release his latest work, Our Sins, on Beirut based label Fantôme de Nuit.


Philipp Priebe is a romantic and this rare attribute, at least in the world of electronic music, lies at the center of the music that he creates. The German producer combines warm, melancholic sounds with pushing elements to create a whimsical blend of organic and mechanic attributes. His first release on Fantôme de Nuit is a testament to his ability to create.


Preibe opens his latest release with 'Above You', and the leading track is an excellent representation of the German House sound. Beginning with some almost jacking drum programing, a fat bass line quickly joins the arrangement. The track continues to build over the next minute and then, like a breath of fresh air, melodic pads provide a whimsical like quality. Preibe spends the remainder of the track building and breaking it down, each time adding a bit of life to the brooding opener.


'Kyoto' is a spaced out slow burner that packs some serious punch. Lead by acid dipped keys, the track features a barrage of ambient blips that create an atmosphere deserving of only the best systems. 'Nara' veers away from its two predecessors and ventures into more techy territory. Layered with blips and
complex drum programming, 'Nara' takes the listener to another dimension before bringing them back down again.


Priebe saves the title track for last, but it's well worth the wait. Built around a single kick and a wealth of delay, 'Our Sins' slowly builds up around itself. By the time the vocal sample comes in it's too late, the listener is completely enveloped. The dubby bassline pushes the track forward and some clever chords keep it tight. And just when it should drop, Phiebe breaks it apart. Dropping the tempo, Phiebe slows the journey to a standstill for just long enough before the kick returns to keep the party going.

As part of Madhouse Records milestone twenty five years in the business the label will be offering up a selection of projects over the next year, ranging from vinyl reissues, events, new releases on Madhouse and it's MadTech sub-label, Merchandise and more.
Here we see the imprint revisit some of it's biggest hitters since its inception, delivering a selection of recent output from the like of T Williams and James Jacob, Opolopo and Roog and Dennis Quinn while revisiting one of label-founder Kerri Chandler's most loved records on the label.
Up first is Roog & Dennis Quinn feat. Berget Lewis' 'Igohart' which saw support from the likes of Sante & Sidney Charles, Shadow Child and Maya Jane Coles with it's raw swing, gritty stab sequences and soaring vocals. The 'Dub Mix' of Opolopo's 'Lowlife' follows and add a playful bounce to things via wandering organ hooks, spiralling vocals and an infectious musicality with its warm string and bright piano chords.
T.Williams and James Jacob then head back to more direct dance floor vibes with the piano-laden 'Together' fuelled by weighty 909's, string samples and smooth chords before 'Kerri's Kaoz 6:23 Mix' of Lafayette's 'Better Late Than Never' gets a 2017 remaster, bringing even more shine to the soul infused New Jersey house classic.

This release a split shared by Vancouver's ESB known for his meandering soulful analogue jams. Verdant Recordings has been lucky to sign two exquisite tracks. 'Subliminal Wave' is R2D2 getting off to an acid groove whilst 'Phayse Distance' holds a more relaxed droid after party vibe. On the other side Mihail P is back for Verdant after his debut appearance on Emerald City. Memory Upgrades features warm bumping percussion underneath a joyful hook. Since 2014 the Innate blog has been delivering high quality "slow journalism", serving up articles that shine a light on artists that have otherwise gone under the radar. Four years on, the Innate team has decided to launch their own label with the same stated aims, namely to showcase deep electronic music with warmth and soul, produced by unheralded heroes old and new.

The label's first release - a four-track, multi-artist missive - offers a neat summary of what listeners can expect to hear in the months and years ahead. The EP opens with something rather special: a sparkling, life-affirming fusion of B12 style intelligent techno and Larry Heard-esque flourishes from debutant Gilbert, a sound designer and future star from Innate's home city of Bristol. It's followed on side A by a similarly shimmering chunk of techno futurism from Freerotation resident and Cubic Space Collective member Mark Hand.

Formidable Irish producer Lerosa has previously impressed via fine releases for a myriad of high quality underground labels, so it's no surprise that his contribution to Innate 001 - a mind-altering, otherworldly jack-track entitled "Shadow" - is the EP's most robust and intense moment. Fittingly, its Innate founder Owain K who draws the EP to a close. He's long been renowned for creating immersive, ultra-deep dancefloor workouts, and "Pixeled Scenery" is amongst his most magical moments yet.

Greenvision is the collaborative brainchild of two ESP Institute artists, Juan Ramos and Luca Trentini AKA Trent, both longtime fixtures of Berlin's infamous playground known as Cocktail d'Amore. Separately, these two explore their own very personal avenues of expression, putting their time in the trenches and endlessly polishing their works (this makes Juan's third release with the label), but when their efforts overlap we're gifted a view into their uncanny synergy. Juan and Trent channel an exorbitant amount of smoke-fueled creativity, building layers upon layers into music so dense that the bulk of their studio time might then be spent navigating and formalizing their output into tangible tracks. Greenvison's collective debut with the ESP Institute showcases three intense cerebral workouts, Banana Paradiso, Rambutan and The Color Of Maracuja, an array of experiments pulling from all the corners of the duo's imagination—it is disorienting, cacophonous, introverted and psychedelic, but at the same time playful, melodic, euphoric and undoubtably arresting—guaranteed to induce hallucinations under proper circumstances. We welcome the induction of Greenvision to the ESP Institute, and with us as your guide, we welcome you to accompany on our descent into their abyss. Try not to get lost.

After an almost instant sell out last time around, London label Tone Dropout return for Vol. 5 of their series of 12"s. An acid washed EP drawing from the ranks of their ever growing family, each of the four tracks celebrates the timeless appeal of the silver boxed 303

'After The Rain' by label regulars The He-Men opens with the soothing patter of raindrops, a hypnotic acid line rising from the deluge to morph into a moody house ride drenched in its own outbursts of spectral sound.

Dawl is also back on home turf with 'Asylum', following a repress of his sought after solo EP for Pareidolia Recordings. Less about seeking refuge than losing your mind it motors along with steely intent, darkly funky bleeps, throbbing acid and industrial percussion embracing the twin legacies of Sheffield and Detroit.

Italian DJ and producer Robbenspierre launched Tone Dropout's digital offshoot with a full EP last year and makes his vinyl debut for the label with 'Quarta Vanitas'. Bubbling breakbeat house, a trancey euphoric lead and swirling ethereal vocals take you deep into the thick smoke and laser light of the 4am dance floor.

In the wake of an appearance on Tone Dropout Vol.4, Corporeal Face returns with another rave induced vision. Trapped on one, the rushing warehouse breakbeats and bass of 'Permo' erupt into waves of acid, fractured vocals and serotonin-depleted synths adding a dark edge to the ecstasy.

Changing Tides EP is the fourth release of our Kommuna Tapes imprint. The A sides features two breaky, electro-infused tracks from Undersound affiliate Chris Geschwindner, while the flipside goes back to the roots: Adam Collins, half of legendary tech-house golden era duo Omni AM, brings us impeccable groove, and early 00s deep house icon Seafoam allows us to trip up through the early evening or morning hours.Track by track, we build a Kommuna of artists who share our insatiable appetite for music discovery, guided by a certain vision of the dancefloor: deep stripped-down grooves, sometimes challenging, always with character.

Yoruba Records is pleased to welcome Dario Rosa to the family with his first release on the label, 'No Ede'.
This two-track EP takes listeners on a hypnotic journey and delivers nothing short of a rhythmic workout.
Starting off with the title track, 'No Ede' was originally a gospel song but not the type you may think. Traditional African percussion leads this track from the opening bars. Smooth stringed rhythms open up and create space as the hypnotic melody of the Kora carries you away. On the flip side we are greeted with 'Something' which is already everything. A decidedly deep cut heavily influenced by the early '90s House sound. Funky keys and an infectious bassline beg you to move as the low end keeps you locked in motion. This introspective groove is made for the late night dance floor and will bring you back while looking ever forward.

R&S welcome Dutch dance icon Maarten van der Vleuten back into the fold. - 'Outrage' is a compilation of Maarten van der Vleuten's Integrity project tracks, originally released on R&S sub-label Outrage Recordings in 1992, now remastered by Matt Colton Maarten van der Vleuten is one of the most influential figures in the Dutch scene, and also a man of many aliases - between 1987 to 2007 he racked up releases with over two dozen projects producing Detroit techno, electro, house, experimental and ambient tracks and remixes. Still highly active and inspired in 2018, R&S see the Outrage release as a perfect opportunity to re-introduce Van der Vleuten's masterful productions to a new generation, adding to his existing influential fans such as Optimo, Global Communication, Ellen Allien and Dave Clarke. During the 90s he recorded mainly dance/techno for R&S Records, as Orpheus, 48V Phantom Power and Mantrax. He also memorably released on Apollo Records (check his excellent In-Existence 'Moonwater' album), Djax-Up-Beats, See Saw and Klang Elektronik amongst others.
Van Der Vleuten's ongoing collaboration with R&S founder Renaat Vanderpapeliere saw the later set up Outrage Recordings in early 1992 to release Van der Vleuten's tracks that didn't fit on R&S Records, recording as Integrity, Zimt, Flux and Pultec.
'Every couple of weeks i would drive up to Ghent with my new tracks and meet Renaat,' explains Martin. "We then went straight to Foon Mastering where we played the DATs and decided which tracks would be cut - i had carte blanche when it came to the 'sound' of the label. Van der Vleuten's music on Outrage Recordings moved in the opposite direction of the contemporary rave and gabber scenes; while Techno became faster and shifted to a more aggressive sound, Van der Vleuten focused more on composing and arranging over danceability. This resulted in these EP's being difficult to sell back in 92 but listening now it feels vital and fresh well over two decades since they were recorded which is an obvious sign of
Van Der Vleuten's deft talent. The release also includes Van der Vleuten's collaborations with another dutch icon, Mike Kivits (aka DJ Aardvarck). The pair first met In 1989 when Kivits would sometimes play his demos on cassette-tapes at local clubs. The pair became fast friends and Van Der Vieuten invited Kivits into the studio where they found a natural chemistry that ultimately resulted in the tracks 'Nightshift' and 'Intens' which feature on 'Outrage', both written and recorded on the same day.

Absent EP produced by the Spanish musician Sendo, is the result of his lifelong passion for sci-films and the aim to translate these movies into sound. Three tracks engaged into esoteric electronic and ambient-styled music. A very adventurous trip through utterly deep soundscapes and mysteriously rattling compositions with a cinematic approach.

Unknown Label rises from the need to move away from the conventional music industry and to find a place where the music speaks for itself, where artists can go beyond their limits and fully express their potential.

First in a series of four 12' singles produced by Maurice Fulton
Today Róisín Murphy announces a series of four 12'singles produced by Maurice Fulton and released across consecutive months this summer through The Vinyl Factory, and shares the first pair of songs 'All My Dreams / Innocence'. From Moloko onwards, Murphy has always gravitated towards a deep groove. But here, with Baltimore maverick musician/producer/DJ Maurice Fulton, she's gone and made some of the most hip-twitching, pleasure-centre-stimulating music of her life. And it's being released in the only correct way for sounds so intimately connected to the dancefloor: on a series of 12' singles, with stunning graphics from Portuguese New Yorker Braulio Amado.
'Ultimately its about dancing,' says Murphy. 'My kind of dancing: all low and funky, allowing itself to be a little out of control. It's all very simple in a way but Maurice has spent a lifetime immersed in music for dancing. His experience and depth of knowledge is undeniable. I did as I was told!'
Across all eight original songs, her lyrics are intense, exploratory, probing into dark parts of her own and the listener's psyche - all the while working on the immediate, endorphin-stimulating dancefloor level too - and her voice is finer, richer, more expressive than ever. The tracks are full of the unadulterated, but deeply warped funk which Maurice has honed over his decades of dancefloor experience. This is as vivid and urgent as Murphy has ever sounded, and it bodes more than well for whatever comes next in her absurdly exciting on going voyage of discovery. 'I've got more projects on the go,' she says; 'I've got some new and exciting collaborators on board and I'm hoping an interesting patchwork of ideas and formats will emerge in due time. But for now I'm just gonna dance it out!!!'
Most definitely her own artistic-director, Murphy recently took on a bold, experimental venture, issuing a clarion call to 'dancers, choreographers, actors, dreamers' to collaborate with her at an exciting two-day residency in London's The Store X. With the purpose to create epic video work that will span the entire project. As with the stunning visuals from her last two albums all the videos are directed by Murphy herself. In her own words: "We made a rave with a purpose. In the run-up I had made several funny little adverts asking people to come and join us. Sort of "shout going out" across my social media platforms, I was astonished by the response. I have just begun an intense editing process. Incredible people came to the shoot and gave it their all for two days solid, total dedication. A most humbling experience and one of the best of my entire creative life, regardless of the outcome." Keep your eyes peeled for the 'All My Dreams' video, the first in a series of visuals, coming on May 18th.

Hieroglyphic Being / Jamal Moss visted the Moog Sound Lab in the end days of 2016. Testing the lab through his prismatic rhythmic cubism meets synth expressionism methodolgy. 21st Century Afro-Futurism to the max. Both parties expressed their satisfaction with the encounter. I believe Bob Moog was (in the late 20th century) creating his modular system 55 synthesiser for artists yet to come....artists like Jamal Moss' (Eldon Tyrell)

Next up on Ellum witnesses the salubrious Dino Lenny delivers a double-header of epic proportions on his 'It's Saturday' single.

The A Side 'It's Saturday' is a heavy as hell piece of colossal techno loaded with a kick like a mule and enigmatic vocals to boot. On the flip and we are indulged with another hefty affair 'I Am Changing', with another vocal led jacking heavy hitter with vocals courtesy of Dino again. Serious stuff for discerning dance floors, speakers beware!

Dino has been making music for since the late 90's having remixed everyone from Madonna to Underworld, and have been championed by everyone from Peter Tong, The Chemical Brothers and Maceo Plex. This fantastic Ellum debut is tantamount to his electronic wizardry.

Fusing forces from Norway and Ghana for Crosstown Rebels is Djuma Soundsystem & Yann Coppier Feat. King Ayisoba, with the expertly crafted 'Anyimo' a African infused techno beast of a track, featuring remixes from DJ and producer Ibadan kingpin Jerome Sydenham and the illusive Johnny Aux who brings his signature acid house sound.

King Ayisoba originates from Ghana and has been sharing his modern day twist on kologo music all over the world. Norwegian in origin, Djuma Soundsystem has been creating music and touring the world for over a decade on labels such as Rebirth, Eskimo and Noir. The two creative forces have combined here to create a truly unique afro-infused head turner of track with King Ayisoba superb Ghanaian vocals. The legendary Jerome Sydenham delivers two floor-filling interpretation of the original, both vocal an Ibadan dub, hike the tempo and hit the floor running. Also, Johnny Aux delivers a rib rattling techno take on the original with devastating effect..

So with that in mind, Honey Soundsystem returns to the aisles of your favorite (and least favorite) record stores with a money $hot 12 inch, four tracks that bring all dance floors into states of full release. Honey Soundsystem has been on the road seemingly non-stop, visiting foreign cities and meeting delightful characters on the way. This EP is a 'tour diary' of sorts, 4 tunes that we have been road tested to the nth degree and now we want our friends, fans, and foes to have them too.

A1 features a track by San Francisco's Sepehr - the most ID requested track from our Chapter 10 Boiler Room finally revealed. A2 is by Stockholm's Henrik Bergqvist, a tune Jackie got his hands on after a crazy night of rolling and accidentally voguing on top of Henrik's computer bag. Derrick Carter approved the use of his voice as long as it said 'Snatched from DC' -thanks Derrick! B1 is by the twink-porn worthy bio-brothers from Berlin: Morven Son - a horny moderne Electro classic featuring a secret sample from one of the more fabulous 90s movies about a sex worker. B2 is a hidden gem demo from Bogota's Lunate. While visiting Bogota to play a gig at the legendary Video Club, locals kept pointing fingers at one guy when referencing the man in town making the music we needed to hear. That guy was Lunate and this one of those beautiful and simple tunes you can play at the beginning, middle, or end of any night.

The best news about this release Everyone behind these tracks are genuine people with great hearts. The honestly comes through when listening and playing them out, you're gonna love the way you they sound, I guarantee it.

Bursting out of teenage normality in Germany, 16-year-old David Jackson is ready to release his first EP via blank. As a classically-trained musician, his unique and fresh
sounding production work reflects a life-long involvement with various musical styles, ranging from the cello pieces he has been rehearsing over jazz to the world of techno which he is technically not even allowed to experience in clubs.

For the past seven years Kornél Kovács has been busy rocking dancefloors and boomboxes worldwide as one third of Stockholm's Studio Barnhus alongside Axel Boman and Petter Nordkvist. The label and DJ trio is spearheading a new era of fearless Swedish off-centre dance music, straddling the line between the cute and the menacing. Anticipation for Kovács' debut album has been rocketing following stand out releases like 2014's wistful Szikra, last year's mad party anthem Pantalón on Glasgow's Numbers imprint and the late night groove of Space Jam on Smallville Records. On The Bells, Kovács pops open his trunk full of sounds nicked from the lost and found bins of nightclubs all over the world. From the distorted organ chords of BB to the stripped down trancehall beats of Josey's Tune and Szív Utca and the title track's cinematic romanticism, it's all of the bells and all of the whistles - further positioning Kornél Kovács as one of the most characteristic producers of modern house music. The record was completed in an intense two-week session with Kovács' great friend and great studio engineer Matt Karmil in the cold winter of 2016. Another close friend, artist Malin Gabriella Nordin, has created the album artwork together with her brother Jonas.

Lena Platonos is a Greek musician, pianist and music composer. She was one of the pioneers in the Greek electronic music scene of the 1980s, and she remains active today. Lena was born on the island of Crete and grew up in Athens. She began learning how to play the piano at the age of two and became a professional pianist before turning eighteen. Soon afterwards, she received a scholarship to study in Vienna and Berlin, where she was exposed to jazz, rock, and Middle Eastern music. She returned to Greece in the late 70's and began working with the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation. She released three collaborative albums between 1981 and 1983, but it was her 'triptych' of solo albums, Sun Masks (1984), Gallop (1985), and Lepidoptera (1986) that would lead many to call her the 'Greek Laurie Anderson' or 'mother of Greek electronica'.

Released in 1986, Lepidoptera was Lena's third solo album, which was inspired by a scientific book on butterflies she found in a trashcan one day. The Latin genus and species names were mysterious and paralleled the changes in Lena's personal life. 'My concern in this work is transformation as a metaphor, or transcendence as an existential condition,' says Lena. Compositions follow minimalistic motifs and carefully-staged soundscapes. Vocals are processed through electronic filters, and at times plays a central role. Lena's surrealistic verses are delivered in a direct fashion, touching on themes of metamorphosis, rebirth, love, and alienation. At times, she expresses tenderness; at others, a childlike innocence.

All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The jacket is an exact replica of the 1986 edition, featuring an original collage by Lena and photography by Spyros Stateris. Each copy includes a two-sided 11'x11' insert with lyrics, photos and liner notes by Lena, with English translations by Stathis Gourgouris.
