House Vinyl New Releases - News

Harvey Sutherland's latest 12 marks the inaugural release for Clarity Recordings, an imprint established by Sutherland for modern Australian records. The first new music from the Melbourne producer since last year's cuts for MCDE, the double A-side Priestess / Bravado features his live trio Bermuda at full tilt, with an ensemble of hand clapping friends. Self-described lounge room disco burners, the record summons the groove experiments of Patrick Adams, Bill Laswell and Arthur Russell, while retaining Harvey's soulful tones and club-ready arrangements.
Priestess evolves slowly, a nine-minute mind dance that ultimately reaches a celestial state. Sutherland's piano lines bounce off drummer Graeme Pogson's unwavering four-on-the-floor, while one-man string section Tamil Rogeon travels skyward. Live standout Bravado is played with determined precision, locking into a tough backbeat that only breaks once Sutherland's warbling lead solo approaches its resonant peak.
Harvey Sutherland and Bermuda will release Priestess / Bravado 12 and digital worldwide on 4 November 2016, via Clarity Recordings and Above Board Distribution.

Talk about the legends of house and Kenny Dope Gonzalez holds one of the undisputed seats in the gallery. Since breaking out of Brooklyn as New York house began to dominate the 1990s the Dope man rose to the very top with Masters At Work, gaining a peerless reputation as beatmaker, producer and DJ. Originally brought to Strictly Rhythm as a teenager by Todd Terry, he became one of the key producers in forging the Strictly sound through releases by
The Untouchables and Total Kaos, and his work with Louie Vega on the Sole Fusion
and Hardrive projects.

Back home at Strictly with a fresh new production (for the first time since 1999), Kenny teams up with another legend of house, Roland Clark (aka South St Player) for Talk Dirty, a rumbustious, risque excursion that sees Clark delivering one of his trademark monologues over Kenny's perfect beats. It's a fitting sound for the 900 number - the landmark nine hundredth single released on Strictly Rhythm.

It's always a big moment when we welcome a new project into the Watergate catalog and this time is no exception. For our next release we would like to introduce two newcomers to the label. Both Cle and Eva Be have been at the cutting edge of house music culture for well over a decade and their work as solo artists spans an esteemed list of some of the most highly regarded imprints from Sonar Kollektiv to Poker Flat, but it was only recently the two formed LoYoTo. After a stunning debut on Marco Resmann's Upon You label,we were thrilled to release their follow up on Watergate entitled 'Lonely Young Tourist'. Over the course of three tracks the duo traverse an array of timeless aesthetics infected with a Dub narrative they have fittingly christened 'Starsprangled Dubmosphere". From the twisted, low slung vibe on 'Sheijk' to the surging intoxication of '3 Balls' and the timeless fusing of classic 'Dub' and modern perspective on 'Feel The Bumpin', LoYoTo have constructed an exquisite ride into their sonic universe and we think you will agree. Welcome to the crew LoYoTo!

Freakin909 are proud to present the first four-track vinyl EP, with tracks from Marshall Jefferson, Rhythm Masters, DJ Sneak, Doory, Sante, Full Intention, House Of Virus, Sleezy D & DJ Ides

Zen in space makes a prominent debut for Moonshoe Records with 'Yellow Jazz EP'. The record captivates the feeling of a jam session when the vibe is on point. Soaked in instrumentation, the record feels spacious. Strong percussive grooves guide the listener through a range of moods that each compliment each other effectively. Throughout the EP a combination of spoken word and soulful vocal hooks give a add a tasteful human element 'fourth&bak' features a spoken-word that whispers atop of juicy guitar licks and a wobbly sub-bass line; but it's an aching, soulful vocal melody that ties the jam together.
'Sahara Groove' is a moody chord progression layed out over a driving 4x4 groove complimented by a dancing, airy flute solo.
To top off the record is remix from Sydney native; Setwun - an imaginative and effective reinterpretation that adds a perfect glaise to an already commendable release.

Yaww Recordings releases a collaboration between Alex Kennon and the Joyfull Family trio this
August including a remix from Kellerkind.

Having amassed a back catalogue including releases on Saved Records, Snatch!, Bondage
Music and NONSTOP, Kennon has fast cemented himself as an auspicious international DJ and
producer. This summer has seen him begin his Ibiza residency for Maceo Plex's Mosaic series,
not to mention multiple dates at Insane when not appearing at various gigs and festivals
throughout Europe. His next outing, in collaboration with Nurvous and Street King production trio
Joyfull Family, marks the second release on Romania's Yaww Recordings vinyl only series.

raw, soulful and agitating: glenn astro, the humble house sorcerer from berlin, produced four tunes and a sweet interlude for mule musiq that point out: house music is still heading for the future.
with countless eps, album's and collaborations for labels like ninja tune, tartlet or his own co-owned imprint money $ex records, the dj and producer already emphasized that he thinks house counter to the trend.
his new ep shows this anew with unpolished, speedy, even techno-like rhythms and deep gentle melodies. dance music for jagged movers that have enough of high gloss sounds.
if house music is a spiritual, a body, a soul thing, then glenn astro delivers some real fresh groov-ing prayers.

an eclectic vinyl made by two young french producers, one Jazzy old school , two minimal melodious and one groovy dub house track.

Inspired by the liberating seduction of house music in the 80's, italian producer, DJ & artist Andrea Arcangeli is definitely a sound institute & technical virtuoso, presenting his Blade Of Grass Ep, OFF119.
Incipient with subtly uplifting bassline, the title track Blade Of Grass creates a big sense of tension, while wavy vocals surround the differing layers of Arcangeli's first soundspace-strike.

Second track, Sun Black , contains a lighter Bass & rhythmic-structure, but catches everyone's perception through its neat melody. A track full of atmosphere.
In a final step Pacifica, especially known for their Drumpoet Community Release & our Core Artists Melokolektiv take hand in remixing the grand originals.

Kalahari Oyster Cult presents the reissue of sought-after Kwaito album Singapore by Mpumi. Originally released in 1995 on Kariba Records, this album has been in the crosshairs of collectors for a long time. All tracks from the original LP were restored and pressed over 2LP for your listening pleasure. Kwaito fans, your attention please: this LP was crafted and mixed by the pioneer producer Arthur Mafokate. Comes with a Gerd edit, for these club situations.

Rune returns on his own Drum Island imprint, this time very ably assisted by UK House turned ambient ambassador Chris Coco
Weekend Billionaires, in its original form is a delightfully lolloping Balearic builder. The Chris Coco Sunshine mix immerses those guitar licks and synth pads in a sea of dubbed out, ultra-violet light. Already rumoured to be included on Harvey's eagerly awaited Mercury Rising comp. Anton Klint (Tryck & Ton / Public Possession) steps up on the flip with a no-less psychedelic, but decidedly more laser-lit interpretation.
Finally Alta Lab wraps things up with a pacier interpretation, Housing up the elements into a hypnotic, emotive rendition...
Quite a package

Discos Capablanca return with a record from the mysterious Detroit-based Sharif Laffrey (we know little more than his place of birth, and that he likes to ride his bike and warm weather) who brings the heat on the Turn It Up 12". Recorded in Detroit in the late 80s and released on a cassette tape compilation in 1988, the original "Turn It Up" is a long forgotten gem from the period that Electro was beginning to morph and mutate into nascent forms of Techno. Excavated by Hugo Capablanca's label, the track is presented in an edited version that stays true to the original and complemented by an Acid Dub Not Dub version that implements plenty of deranged 303 action.

It really feels like we (aka Mad Mats & Tooli) have been around way longer than 5 1/2 years with Local Talk, but it's really true what they say, time flies when you're having fun!
From what started as a somewhat simple and almost primitive urge to create a small house imprint has now grown into a much bigger affair. We really tried hard to keep the label from getting stuck in any genre (remember 90s house) and to always keep the Local Talk relevant, curious, diverse and with a healthy dose of underground mentality. From our very first release with Bassfort's excellent 'Moon Shadow' in the Summer of 2011, we had a crystal clear vision of what Local Talk should represent...House music in any way, shape or form!
Over the years we released soulful, Disco, jack, afro, vocal, deep, Jazz, tech, latin, old school, acid, UK, Berlin, New Jersey, Detroit and of course Chicago inspired house music. If it made us bump...we put it out! This brings us up to today and about +80 releases later. We thought about how we best could sum up these first 5 1/2 years and immediately the image of Blaze's classic album '25 Years Later' popped up.
Besides the fact that it's an amazing album cover it also a good representation when different musical genres fuse together. It's not strictly a house album but just as well a r&b, reggae and soul album. This fusion and variation of house sounds is something that we've tried to capture on our '5 1/2 Years Later' compilation, split into two parts. On part 1 you'll find a dark bassline driven house jam from Art Of Tones (check the mad sax!), a proper deep journey jam from NYC's DJ Spinna, a Blaze homage with that classic New Jersey sound from Sean McCabe, and a bumpy world/jazz inspired cut straight outta Brescia from wonder kid Corrado Bucci. All in all we think we got most angles covered and hopefully this album will make you spread that chalk on the dance floor and get down...Local Talk style!

REPRESS ALERT: Especial is delighted to welcome Baris to the roster. Known for his edit series of obscure Turkish Psychedelic, Rock and Disco, here he takes the producer's chair to present "200". Working with musicians and singers to create a completely original production. The song's message for equality (of the sexes) highlights the bigotry and backward political and religious boundaries his country faces and acts as a siren to the current troubles. Handed to Emotional Recordings over 5 years ago but with no label to release it at that time, now we are delighted to be able to release 200's message. The original is backed with remixed from new production duo Khidja, as well as East London's finest, The Asphodells. Teaming up with guitarist Balabas, Romania's Khidja turn in a deep and introspective interpretation mixing their own heavy eastern influences, while the B-side sees Weatherall and Fairplay don their Asphodells mantle for two renditions that firmly lay it before the ALFOS alter. With artwork (by Jamie Paton) highlighting the struggle for fairness and freedom in his homeland, we hope the release can be seen as a support for their tribulations and highlight the talent that lays East.

What do you get when you cross a Frenchman, a Dane, two Irishmen and a Swede The debut various artists compilation from Kyoku Records, of course. Gathering the producers who make up their whole discography thus far, the Melbourne-based imprint are welcoming back Dorsi Plantar, Sune, Long Island Sound and Ethyene (alongside Folamour and Marc Bianco). Translating from Japanese to a befitting "dancing birds", the Odoru Tori EP is revitalizing the elegant origami series for one last spin. The orizuru, hachidori, oumu and hakucho, that is, the paper crane, the hummingbird, the parrot and the swan are bringing the handmade array to a suitable conclusion. On the A side, the Scandinavian connection is responsible for bringing some summer heat. Dorsi Plantar sheds his usual wistfulness for a slightly moodier, more functional track with "Senorita Lolita", although still incorporating some of that playful sampling he's now come to be known for. "Californicate" from Sune takes a more laidback approach and channels the breezy and carefree atmosphere of the coastal Golden State. On the flip side, Long Island Sound follow the same recipe that made "Delusions" such a big hit with the intricate sampling and eloquent arrangement of "Ease In". To top things off, Ethyene, with the help of Folamour and Marc Bianco, close out the record with a groovy, vocal number that sees them employ their signature French Touch formula to great effect on the simply titled "Good".

Madhouse number 2 sees Kerri dropping his 4 track 'Panic EP' on us, released in 1992 the whole record sounds amazing today - As fresh as ever! Driving, funky, stripped back and with that trademark KC drum programming 'Get On Up' kicks things off with an intoxicating mix of all the above and some loopy, dubbed out sax.. this one is pure heads down late night business! 'Insomnia Again' utilises some choice samples the eagle eared among you will no doubt spot, paired with epic piano stabs and a cavernous kick-drum, slamming! Flip the record over for 'Something Wrong', a solid grooving, gospel-esque monster that hits hard, classic! Finishing out the EP is the amazing 'Love Is Over', undoubtedly inspired by the Garage and Zanzibar with it's nod to some classic cult killer Disco jams that form the basis of the track, looping, raw and moving hard, one for the heads! Rarely do you get such a well rounded EP of different versatile flavours, exactly the reason why Kerri is rightfully a legend in dance music. Essential stuff indeed.
This is the one of the first of a series of official Madhouse / Kerri Chandler reissues for 2017. Every title has been remastered by Kerri Chandler himself, from all original sources and each reissue has been legitimately released in full conjunction with Kerri and Madhouse records. And, as if that wasn't enough, all the reissues will be coming in the classic Madhouse records house bag. Snoozing not advised!

Normals Welcome is pleased to bring you Rest Corp, a brand new project formed by Project Pablo and Khotin! Their debut release "Infinity Scroll", created during a week long session at Deep Blue in Vancouver, includes 3 highly effective tracks spanning from the arpeggiated House moods of "Love it TBH" to the depths of the dubbed-out title track. The 12" is then capped off at peak intensity with the tough rhythmic basslines and high-pitched filtered freak outs of "Current Mode". We hope you enjoy the sounds of Rest Corp.

TT05 is brought by St. Joseph, an excellent Dj and producer from Cologne. The EP is split into two very different types of sounds, one presents a more rolling techno type of sound and the other, more mellow vibes.

"Real name Takeshi Fukushima, Takecha has been a key figure within Japan's electronic music scene for decades and belongs to the same pioneering crew as Soichi Terada and Shinichiro Yokota. Now in his mid- fifties, 'Deep Soundscapes' is an album encompassing Fukushima's sound with every track written by the producer between 1990 and 2013. Intricate percussion and crystalline chords set the tone in 'Deep Drive' before a funky bassline joins serene synths in 'Midnight Things'. Appearing in Soichi Terada's mix for Resident Advisor (under its promo title 'Deep Loop C'), 'Gradual Atmosphere' is comprised of a galloping beat and saccharine chimes, 'Factory 141' sees Takecha demonstrate a murkier aesthetic, whilst 'Rhodes Detox' is a definitive example of Takecha's flair for expertly balancing elements within his productions. An homage to Shufflepuck Cafe´, an old Mac Plus video game Takecha would play on a black and white 9- inch monitor back in the day, 'Shufflepuck' blends ghostly melodies with clicks, whirrs and pops. 'Calm Imagination' is a poignant affair from start to finish with its hypnotising atmosphere, contrasting to the more up-tempo 'Warm Rondo' with its soulful keys and purring low-end. Tying it all together, 'Genuine Innocence' is a cut that Takecha made two versions of; one with a solo from a pianist and another with more emphasis on the beat, the latter of which appears on this album."

'Bout time we release another long-player, right Right.

Seven tracks of straight disco-flecked, hip-hop-laced, MPC-orchestrated pulsating house. House that's speeding down the highway at ninety in the middle of the night, house that's a packed dance floorundulatingin a heavy cloud of fog, house that's fast-forwarded time-lapse video tours through New York, Tokyo, Paris, London.

Throw Gaspar Noé's Enter the Void in the DVD player, double the playback speed, mute the audio, play Vinum over it on repeat, and then some of the above will make sense, come into focus. Or maybe it won't, but we know you'll have a hell of a time doing it.

"When I first started making the drum on my MPC it sounded like a battle of drums I then added some stabs from the machines, trying to make it sound like the oldschool Chicago tracks

played by laurent garnier, wink, jimpster, louie vega, rob mello and many more
