'After the initial "Square One"sessions we felt that "Arpa" was less of a "teamplayer"and one that would be difficult to shoehorn naturally into position on the album. Where the album sounded more like breaking new(old) ground between the two of us, "Arpa"is the one that felt most like an expected outcome from these sessions. Purpose made for adventurous dancefloors, either on earth or in a parallel universe you'll find "Arpa"in 3 versions. The original with it's sparse BUT "all hands on the desk"arrangement, the chopped up and reassembled remix with it's static energy cranked up to the max and last but not least the "Plastikman BUT in the 60's..." version in "drum version". Once again utilizing a giant mixing desk for the arrangement, 4 hands(+ other free limbs), the percussive elements are let free to roam in what we call a "dj-unfriendly tool"'

Just in time for the end of summer Dark Leader snaps back with it's third release for 2017. For Dark Leader 004 Collins brings us 3 futuristic electro cuts for his Die Mädchen EP. It all starts off with Luna (Traum Model), a track that takes the listener to the part of the mind reserved only for very late nights and early mornings where the lines between the real and unreal become blurred. Next up is Lotte (Kampf Modell) an aggressive electro number that turns the dance floor into a battlefield from a war where humans finally overtake the machines. Finally Collins takes us on a hypnotic journey that interweaves sadness and beauty with Alenka (Trauer Modell), a track that reconnects you to memories and past experience, an odyssey that you won't soon forget. Dark Leader 004 is housed in a full color jacket featuring cover artwork by Eleanor's Mannequin Art, design by Eric Adrian Lee, and mastered by Timothy Stollenwerk.

2016 is becoming a year of many great artist's albums and the one from Jimi Jules is an outstanding example of a great house music influenced longplayer. There are so many different tracks that you can play out but without loosing their home listening pleasure. It reminds me of the time of a Motorbass or a Herbert album!

Abduction is the name of the second release of the german label Malonian. The record comes with two timeless House tracks, which were produced by Korsakow aka Dub Taylor / Tigerskin in 1996.

Man Power returned to his Northern home for one Last Waltz. This is their joint offering for the ESP Institute. On side A, Man Power welcomes us with Tistish, stepping slightly out of his comfort zone and employing a boxy breakbeat to create a dose movement. This contrasts his signature fatty bassline and together they establish a ground on which to stack layers of atonal square and sawtooth waves. About halfway through he introduces a massively seductive string lead and for the remainder of the ride this palette of sounds coalesce in dark orchestral beauty. On side B, Man Power's cohorts Last Waltz deliver Nee Shitteru, a true stomper of a track complete with in-your-face toms and off-time percussion patterns, an intense driving acid line, and aggressive shamanic chanting. Throw in some crash cymbals, sci-fi sound effects and a smattering of gamelan and it amounts to an overwhelmingly chaotic and psychedelic trip. These two songs will have you speaking in tongues.

Osage (pronounced Oh-Sage) is the electronic music making alter ego of dj/producer lil'dave, a veteran DJ on the Philadelphia nightclub scene, a member of the highly respected dj crew Illvibe Collective and the co-host of the internationally known broadcast Eavesdrop Radio. As a recording artist, he has released music under various aliases for record labels such as BBE Records, Tru Thoughts, Record Breakin' Music, Soulspazm, and First Word Records and collaborated with and remixed a diverse range of artists such as RJD2, Lady Alma, Ty, Ryat, Captain Planet, Foremost Poets, and more.The Osage sound is an amalgamation of musical influences such as deep house, samba, African rhythms, futuristic r&b, boogie, uk garage, salsa, broken beat, and soul. Built from slightly unorthodox drum programming, and layers of synthesizers, the music is focused on bringing the soulfulness out of the machines he is working with. Over the years, he has been building a solid reputation by creating a catalog of clever dance floor edits, remixes, and original tracks which have been supported by notable tastemakers such Gilles Peterson. This 12" compiles 4 of our favorite moments from the 2 EPs that Osage has released thus far on Bastard Jazz. The record kicks off with the bubbling house vibes of "I Found You" featuring Dezeray Dawn on vocals, before moving into a deeper House dub of the track from Washington DC's Sol Power All-Stars. On the flip, "Last Call" is a late end of the night anthem with Osage himself offering words of inspiration, and the EP rounds off with the "Anyway", a sparse dance cut with syncopated claps, moody synths and heartfelt vocals from Yemi.

A:
Italian producer Alessio Viggiano has been knuckling down, with releases on some well respected labels, his music is getting noticed all over the globe. 'Where Is My Drink' demonstrates his sound perfectly, showing what he can do behind the controls.
Tomas Saenz and Rodrigo DP have also been turning heads internationally in the last few months. Both their solo works and collaborations with each other have been played at many a party. We are happy to have them join the family, with their track entitled '1212Y'.
B:
Label head ADMNTi incorporates his skippy hats with some vocal cuts in his first track on the series. 'Clima' opens the B Side up for more of a London sound that continues with the last track on the release...
Jordan and Shai have been friends of the label for a while, and their productions have gone down a storm in London, Mannheim and various other cities. 'Vibrations' infuses garage sounds with modern house - a combination that can be heard on the duo's track 'Diversity' which featured on Entity:London's second release.

Chuffing Buffy is a NYC-based recording project developed after more than a decade of electronic music productions under various monikers

Following a splendid album release from Falke earlier this year, now comes a remix selection that linked friends and personal idols: Samo Dj, Vakula, Perm & Ergin Erteber (1/2 of Things From The Basement). Utilising the original stems to rebuild unique characteristic jams. 'O.N.G. - Versions' satisfies with hypnotic percussions, etheral grooves, varied velocities and cryptic 80s references.

One evening in 2005, Rollmottle and Tony Watson as 'Project Sandro' produced 'Blazer' before a night out in Downtown Los Angeles with Maurice Fulton. 'Blazer' was a vision of the city, the sun, the sand, the smog, the swimsuits and slices of watermelon.
When 'Blazer' was released it was a hard sell. It was too weird, too slow, too...something The record sat untouched for almost a year. Eventually, the boys gave one to their kind bud, DJ Harvey. Once Harvey dropped it at FK's Deep Space in NYC, people started to understand. Soon after, a Japanese distributor called and purchased all 300 copies and the record sold out almost immediately.And thus, the beginning of this record's mythos began. A few recognized 'Blazer's' impact early on — a couple years after its initial release, Gerd Jansen licensed it for Sonar Kollektiv's 'Computer Incarnations For World Peace II' and Rong licensed it for 'Rong Music Presents Non-Stop Vol. 1.' It remained largely impossible to find though, and much to Project Sandro's dismay, it started selling on Discogs for $80.
But it was always clear people wanted to hear 'Blazer.' And now for the first time in 10 years, it appears on its home imprint in a special 10 year anniversary limited edition of white vinyl. Project Sandro hopes people are ready for it this time!

Hot on the heels of his smash hit 'Get Beasty' EP released in February this year, Hot Creations favourite Patrick Topping is back with another superb release in the running to be his most successful yet! The 'Boxed Off' EP features three dance floor bombs, just as we've come to expect from talented youngster, all with that signature Patrick Topping sound yet each completely unique. 'Forget' is potentially his biggest track yet, a staple of Jamie's current sets it's truly infectious and set to be feature heavily at WMC this year. 'Boxed Off' is menacing, rumbling & dark heads-down affair whilst 'Schwicked' is another hooky as hell bomb from Patrick. Another killer three track EP from Patrick Topping, who seems like he can do no wrong at the moment!

Patrick Topping impressed us all with his debut EP 'Walk On', with his tracks being championed by Jamie Jones, Lee Foss and the Hot Creations crew. His next EP 'Any Amounts' was one of the biggest releases of the year for Hot Creations. More recently his 'Get Beasty' EP was released, receiving masses of support including regular plays on Radio 1 from the likes of Annie Mac and Pete Tong who crowned him as a 'Future Star' on his show.

Alongside releases on his home label Hot Creations he has a track coming out on the Defected Miami CD and remixes on the way for Circus Recordings and Resonance Records.

After turning heads with their first two releases Brisbane's radio show come record label Beats Of No Nation (BONN) is here with release number three.
The 'Hollywood' EP comes from BONN co-founder Jad Lee aka Jad &The(FKA Jad & The Ladyboy).
Off the back of recent 2017 releases on labels Sonar Kollektiv, 2MR, and Axe On Wax Jad brings it home to Beats Of No Nation with the 'Hollywood' EP which takes its name from the obscure samples Jad pulled from a bundle of dusty VHS movie tapes.
Londoner Deejay Astral provides a remix of the A1 'Theatrical Trailer' and he masterfully takes the bass line from the original and makes the remix into something his own.

For their Sophomore V/A, Brooklyn's Super Tuff Records dig into the batter's box and unveil a roster packed with Varsity-tier heat. At the top of the lineup, we have the Tsuba-famed slugger Luvless, delivering some powerful piano house with his anthemic Vary in Colour. Rounding out the A2 are the fresh-faced, Irish lads Long Island Sound with the soul-sampling I Chose You Because. Batting clean-up, Tommy Vicari Jnr puts one far into the outfield with Pacific Stri"ia heartbreaking tribal house track that's as funky as Mateo & Matos and as wonky as Animal Collective. For the final run, Parisian duo Mara Lakour tap into a pure, blissful piece of deep house with Akoa (Tribal Edit).

It's been a couple of years since Classic released an original artist album, the last one being Luke Solomon's critically praised 'Timelines'. This time round Classic brings a relative newcomer into the fold.
Eli Escobar has slowly been building a credible reputation out of his home in New York, releasing his first single back in the late nineties and moving more recently from hip hop into dance music. As a DJ, he harks back to a golden era of disco and early house music, graduating through the 90s during which he was brought up on a diet of underground house including Classic's early output. In recent years Classic's head was turned by his wonderful album 'Up All Night' that was released on Night People, a label from New York that Eli (pronounced 'EL-EE') has a vested interest in. Following up the album with a series of singles, the label swiftly became a cult dance classic.
'Happiness' continues from where 'Up All Night' left off, championing the disco cut-up ethos from lesser known staples. Eli also enlists the vocal talents of Nomi Ruiz and the legendary Vanessa Daou, who most notably featured on the classic Danny Tenaglia and Peter Daou's, 'Surrender Yourself' back in the 90s. Moving from straight up house party jams such as the title track, 'Happiness Pt 2' into raw Chicago work outs like 'Chaka Khan', Mood II Swing inspired deepness such as 'Winters Anthem' and 'I Need U', before wrapping it all up with straight up disco floor fillers like 'Phreeky' and 'Can't Stop Dancing'.
'Happiness' will surely solidify Eli Escobar's place as more than a 'one to watch' producer, this will take him into the realms of a torch bearer for a new generation of underground dance acts.

"Love Can't Turn Around" is a Chicago House ANTHEM! A true classic of the genre. Universally recognized and loved, it made history as the very first House record to reach the UK singles charts in 1986 and continues to find new fans today.

Inspired heavily by Isaac Hayes' underground Disco smash "I Can't Turn Around", a record that was very big in various Chicago clubs getting plays from DJ's like Ron Hardy, Frankie Knuckles and more. With "Love Can't Turn Around" Farley and Jesse re-appropriated Hayes' Disco vibe and updated it with drum machines, synths and of course, Mr.Darryl Pandy's unique vocal performance centering around the desperation of a lover who has been wronged. A truly influential track that opened the doors for many producers and DJ's in the decades to follow.

Here, for the first time, the definitive mixes of this all time classic record are available in one place.
Re-mastered and re-issued in conjunction with Trax Records this essential Chicago record lives on.

Guy Gerber returns to his own RUMORS label, with his first release since the success of last summer's 'Rumors On The Dancefloor' EP. 'Secret Encounters' is a hot doubled header of two killer productions by Guy.
Guy's RUMORS label has quickly established itself as a breeding ground for innovative and progressive techno, thanks to it's steadily-growing catalogue of high calibre productions. 'Secret Encounters' is Guy's first solo EP on RUMORS, and more than lives up to the high standard he's set for the label.
Featuring lead track 'Secret Encounters' and B side 'Full Circle', the EP strongly channels the atmosphere that Guy aims to create at his RUMORS event series and Ibiza residency; the producer previously revealed snippets of both tracks to the public in a recorded mix live from RUMORS at Destino earlier this summer.
Despite his increasingly busy touring schedule, the 'Secret Encounters' EP proves Guy's love for the studio is as strong as ever. His attention to detail shines through across both tracks, each of which fit in perfectly with the kind of dark, enigmatic house and techno that has become the hallmark of the RUMORS brand.

After a 10 year hiatus, Steve O'Sullivan's Mosaic label returns under a new guise: Mosaic Split Series. This series will be split between old school artists from Mosaic and beyond and artists from the new school. This first release sees Mosaic legend Jorge Zamacona don his Urban Sombrero for the latest installment in his "mosaic efforts" series. A deep, trippy, dirty house workout in Jorge's unique style. In keeping with the whole ethos of this project we have newcomer Ben Buitendijk's offering , "Promised Land," on the flip. An ultra-deep dub house/techno track that echoes the Mosaic sound of old with a modern twist. Melodic and atmospheric, this one deserves to be played from beginning to end.

Things have been heating up on Lee Burridge's smouldering Get Weird label in the last year. Picking up serious momentum with a consistent flow dispatches from the likes of Dance Spirit, Hauy, Superlounge, Tim Green and more, each release has been a startling jolt from the all-too-comfortable road-middle into more diverse, uncharted pastures deep in the sweet spot between house, techno and electronica.
This next release from brand new artist Kaled is certainly no exception. Get Weird Get to know...
Tunisian Kaled shows depth, range and rudiments beyond his early-man status. A deep musical spirit with a penchant for poignancy, taste for theatre and strong sense of restraint, there's a timeless evocative feel running throughout each of these three unhurried, subtly-orchestrated gems.
'The Field & The Sun' sets the scene; a palpitating progressive beat is laced with strident string strikes that build layer upon layer, creating a cushion for a goosebump-inducing late-entering piano line. 'Nemo', meanwhile, finds itself in the midst of another swooning set of strings. Ignited by a percussive pebbledash and leading with the distinctive middle eastern instrumentation, the backbone is maintained by a devilishly simple and hypnotic synth riff that holds everything together.
Quite whether you'll be able to hold yourself together during the finale 'Midnight Sun' is another question. A powerful, mourning stomper that really pulls with its pink sky melancholy, slow-burning string chords, rising synth line and subtle counter melodies, it's that unifying set-piece you didn't even know you were looking for.
Classy, measured, dramatic; 'The Field & The Sun' is a confident opening move that leaves us wanting more. Get Weird Get involved...

2DIY4 ("to die for"), the sublabel of Diynamic Music, is embarking onto a new journey. With this forthcoming release 2DIY4 is starting a new chapter in its history, turning away from the classic 4/4 House formula and towards new, outstanding and sincere Indie Downtempo Electronica music.

With a highly artistic approach, it aims to paint a holistic picture that shapes its identity with all inherent components - sonic and visual. The golden thread that runs through it all is the question "what would you die for" - creatively replied to by the artists.

The first artist under the label's new identity is Lunar Plane, consisting of identical twin brothers Emre and Mert from Istanbul. They answered: "We would die for each other, so the first thing comes to mind is twinhood." Together with LA-based October's Child on the vocals, they deliver the first of many chilling Electronica EPs for 2DIY4.

Anyone familiar with the Maltese duo will have some preconception of what's in store, Soulful, Emotive music, rolling basslines, soft pads & subtle keys throughout. The lead track ""Star Gazing"" is built around the talents of ""Alfred Debattista"" on a beautifully played sax, layered with soft pads & piano keys, perfect for the afterhours. ""Bubbles floating in the Sky"" Leans More towards the early hours, 4/4 beat patterns, warm pads & Skippy hats & the very present influence of Melchior on keys. & finally, ""Saturn"" Aimed at the Dance floor, a real head nodder, the signature warm pads flutter over a punchy kick drum & rolling baseline & skipping hi-hats, this is really the sound that has came to define Contrast-Wax. Saine & Smith consists of Jaja Saine and Leo Smith. Two talented DJs/producers from Stockholm. Both are diaspora kids - Jaja Saine's background is in West Africa and Leo's in Barbados. So their debut release is a kind of heritage reflection, with twisted elements of decadent Scandinavian dance music, which echoes generally in their sound.
A. Lord vanlig - Inspired from Afro-Caribbean traditional folk music from the 60s. A melodramatic blend of cheer and sorrow. With capturing and repetitive drums combined with a compact kick and sweet overlay of melodious keys and child laughter.

Spring has sprung... which means BBQ season is here! Our annual grill-orientated tour is in full swing and as no Dirtybird BBQ would be complete without some tunes, this year's soundtrack is 'Dirtybird BBQ: Secret Ingredients'.
