Canadian Paolo Rocco kickstarts the New Year with his Judgement EP on Hot Creations. The first release of 2017 is an international affair, with Manchester born Trevino and one of the most spoken names of last year, Greece native Detlef on remix duties.
Initially making a name for himself through his DJing skills back home in Montreal, Paolo's productions entered the market in 2012 with instant international support. His releases on Real Tone, One Records, Saved and others were all met with high acclaims as were the compilations he mixed for Defected and Get Physical. The creation of, 'Judgement' and 'That's It' prove Paolo truly understands what works on the dance floor.
2016 saw Detlef reach new heights whilst also debuting on Hot Creations with his 'Kinky Tail' EP. He returns to the label with a devastating edit of 'Judgement' and his rolling signature sound.
Trevino aka Marcus Intalex ramps up the EP with his remix, centred around shimmering high hats and a freaky groove. A champion of how a DJ can achieve success in two different genres, Trevino has released on several of the most praised drum & bass and techno labels for a number of years.

Another day, another project here at Hizou. This time the first in our Special series of strictly-limited vinyl releases focusing on another side to the electronic music we love, yes, a little different to the classic Chicago and Detroit-inspired sounds of our main label, but with just the same passion, pride and panache. Friend of the label W&P Hgg (aka Hugo Giner) returns with Techno Is Back, a cut darker and more twisted than the timeless and jazz-influenced house he is usually associated with, while the enigmatic Ithkuil debuts with Speak My Language, a slice of truly dope deepness. The much-touted duo Gauss enhance their rapidly-growing reputation with Diversey River Bowl, another uncompromising delivery of machine funk, whilst the vastly-experienced pairing of Jaime Read and Owen Jay join forces on Aalto, a groovy, acid-inspired little number.

Hailing from the Russian city of Murmansk, AL-90 brings an all embracing dance sound perfectly in keeping with the Tape Throb Records ethos of distort, layer and rework. Littered with ghostly vocals and the blurred flush of multi layered beats, infectious bass moves the whole in rhythmic brilliance. The A sides, Cheremushki Groove and Fluid, will bring on dream of 90's VHS house with warm broken beats layered with lush vocal samples. The B side Cataract flies higher with a jungle storm waist deep in ambience and the EP closes with a distorted stomping rework of the title track by label founder The Cyclist.

Gerd Janson compiles an exciting ambient-not-ambient compilation that includes exclusive tracks by Âme, Move D, Quiet Village Marco Passarani, Roman Flügel and Tom Trago!!!
Musik for Autobahns is the result of asking Gerd Janson for a collection that starts where previous efforts left off. While Computer Incarnations for World Peace (his compilations for Sonar Kollektiv) concentrated on tipsy new wave music done by jazz-funkers or neo disco-ists, Autobahns has an
unintentionally strong leaning towards ambient not-ambient, kraut pleasers and codeine house, i.e. Industrial Ambient and Electrifying New Age. It's all new and exclusive material by people who once or twice crossed paths with the compiler. You will hear Âme with their modular slambient concept sitting next to Amsterdam's Tom Trago off peak time duties, Roman Flügel with an old DAT tape wunderkind that shares a side with Heidelberg's very own Move D in love, outsider dance from CF & Daywalker alias Entro Senestre and Willie Burns as well as a greasy sounding Marco Passarani and finally Tensnake's romantic pop appeal that is a counterpoint to Maxxi & Zeus (better known as Quiet Village) and their 'Passion' for all beauties that lie beyond.
This sometimes unlikely gathering is hopefully unified by its non-parochial view of dance- and living-room floors, ambient noise and its effectiveness as a soundtrack to long rides up and down the Autobahn.

Limited Vinyl in custom hand-stamped sleeve. FINALLY we get to the release stage of this Epic Production run. (Term not taken lightly) Belting tripped out goodness with initial pelter Dogness, intimately immersive and stunningly constrained into a sub plunging landscape Kalender days gets built on a solid jacking proper chunky as anything heads down roller of a foundation... an immaculate build up featuring the vocal craft of Alex Ookpik who's expansive influence has impacted every rhythm felt. Tragically Alex passed away suddenly in November... the collaboration work unfinished, her utterly infectious and divine presence is with us Automony collectively details thumping and brutal flinging thuds. Systematic fluidity gunks a swaying struggle Almighty and dynamic Capelulo straps on the chug tractor cranking up the epic factor, theres a faithful blues ingrained here... as it readies for the endorphins to boot in Back wall cainer in mind Ode to Hines... achingly efficient, dub wise its precise and aptly in check ... devastating tackle Grimes has had a long association with GCW. From Lyrical Swords in the FreeRo campsite, to having a Paxton Fettel EP named in his honour (Not bad for a Tenner) The concept was finally finished in Griessmuehle, plenty versions later here we are.
"Forever Or
Softrock à la Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, The Roches und Laura Nyro. Dazu nehmen sie Anleihen beim Jazz
Gesang, schaffen eingängige Refrains und beweisen enormen Einfallsreichtum im Umgang mit ihren
Instrumenten. Das Album wurde von Nicholas Wilbur (Hungry Cloud Darkening) in einer ehemaligen Kirche
aufgenommen.

Few projects in electronic music have remained at the very cutting edge for as long as Reagenz, a collaboration between San Francisco based Jonah Sharp and Heidelberg based David Moufang. Now, twenty years after their first project, comes 'The Periodic Table,' a live album captured at The Bunker New York's tenth anniversary party at Public Assembly, Brooklyn, in January 2013. This Triple LP also serves as the first full-length release from relatively new label The Bunker NY, which was launched in January 2014, so far releasing nine EPs from the likes of Atom™, Voices From The Lake, Marco Shuttle, and others...
The label say: 'Their first self-titled album 'Reagenz,' was released during a foundational moment for ambient and electronic music: 1994. At the time, Jonah's main project was Spacetime Continuum; an early signee of seminal label Astralwerks. He was also running one of the first independent electronic music labels on the West Coast, Reflective Records, recording with the likes of Pete Namlook and Bill Laswell; while David was founding acclaimed duo Deep Space Network, starting to record solo records as Move D, entering into a fruitful collaboration with Pete Namlook, as well as running his own Source Records imprint.
Following several well-received live appearances in Japan, Reagenz was reformed in 2009 for a full-length album 'Playtime' on the respected Berlin label Workshop. Since then, the project has been ongoing, touring to present live shows in both the US and Europe. There has also been a special collaborative extension of the project when Reagenz met Magic Mountain High (Moufang w/ Juju & Jordash) under the name The Mulholland Free Clinic at last year's Unsound Festival in Krakow. Moufang, working as Move D, is now highly in demand as a DJ (last year he did one the coveted Fabric mix CDs), whilst Sharp is also busy with solo gigs and a collaborative project with DJ Spun called the Loose Control Band.
Now, twenty years after their first project, comes 'The Periodic Table,' a stunning live album captured at The Bunker New York's tenth anniversary party at Public Assembly, Brooklyn, in January 2013. This Triple LP / CD album also serves as the first full-length release from relatively new label The Bunker New York, which was launched in January 2014, so far releasing nine EPs from the likes of Atom™, Voices From The Lake, Marco Shuttle, and others. To introduce the album, Sharp notes, 'I consider it a live album that captured the essence of the show. The two-and-a-half hour show was edited down to 70 minutes or so. The hard bit was selecting chunks to use.'
Recorded using a full stage of gear / all-hardware set up that included Roland TR 909, Roland TR 606, Roland JX-3P, Roland SH101, Anyware Instruments TinySizer, Nord Micro Modular, Doepfer Dark Time, Akai MPC 1000, Electro Harmonix Memory Man Delay and a Moog MidiMurf 'The Periodic Table' incorporates elements of house, techno and ambient in an organic flow that few artists could replicate. Watching the two musicians on stage makes tangible the sense of decades of shared experience between them very apparent. Moufang clarifies 'it is definitely about letting go and finding out where we can go as in terms of improvising (new) tracks.' Sharp concurs, 'Communication comes down to hearing and feeling what's going on at the time and trying to make the right decisions on the spot. Spontaneity plays a big part! '
Of course, this special adapt-and-move approach is not something every musician could do successfully. Sharp confirms, 'it's a challenge to play live dance music and make it work,' whilst Moufang sees a parallel for their approach in game theory, noting 'Live improvisation is always like a game of chess in a way—you follow and try to take the lead.'
Recorded with almost the same equipment they used to record their debut twenty years earlier, 'The Periodic Table' is a testament to the power of live electronic music, its ability to transcend time and remain, when delivered with skill and art, one of the most powerful live music experiences possible. Far from being locked into any cul-de-sac of 'dance' genre or DJ tools, 'The Periodic Table' presents a living, breathing model. Free your mind and your feet will follow.

Splendor & Squalour number 3 see's Brame & Hamo return to their rising imprint. Since the boy's Ep Lamaj's Secrets' on Dirt Crew we have seen them do a string of remixes for labels such as Kolor Ltd, Heist & their very successful remix for Harry Wolfman and Loz Goddard's Uncle Buck' on Dirt Crew. All these releases have kept a steady momentum going for the Sligo boys in the house Scene. For this ep we have a full 3 tracker consisting of all original cuts. The EP kicks off with Kebab Dreams' which takes us on a trip to the moon with greasy drums and saucy groove. Up next is the MPC workout Cert City' paying homage to their hometown of Sligo. Closing the Ep we have Retch Wretchedness' which takes a darker turn showing us the spookier side of Brame & Hamo while still keeping the jazzy touch. A peak time track for sure.

Debut solo album for the producer and DJ Danilo Seclì , titled "Reverse" and comes out on March 31, 2017 Smilax /. The symbol of the famous dj Samsara Beach Gallipoli beach doing dance and dream, looks back on many years of music has long coordinates the collective project Calls Salento Italy, with whom he released three albums and several compilations. For the first time, with this record he makes his musical personality and does so by collaborating with Sandro Cappello, German songwriter of Italian origin. "Reverse" is perfectly halfway between pop and dance. The lyrics of some songs give energy, others, it is the case of "Starlight", are true love songs, electronic sounds sometimes take a back seat. There are two covers ( "Master Blaster" by Stevie Wonder and "Sweet Harmony" of the Beloved), but even then the melodies and sounds of the past are proposed in a new way. It is no coincidence: Reverse in Italian means return and cover stands on a sort of portal in the form of R, facing the future and simultaneously towards the past. "The album is a kind of circulation and recirculation of life and music," says Danilo Seclì. "We 'a loop that tells the emotions that we all live and still live again through music. Today many DJs and even many artists prefer to be limited to the individual, but I wanted to express a concept a bit 'wider. " "Reverse" contains 9 songs and is a mix of past and future music. Melodie atmospheres and the 80/90's pop are reinterpreted by the arrangement essential and current songs. Who wants to dance or to dance can do it, but "Reverse" is primarily a disc to listen and listen carefully.

Always eager to champion new talent, Dessous Recordings unearth a precious gem from Brussels-based Lockwood, a duo comprising childhood friends Gert-Jan Haegeman and Billy Hillaert. 'Let's Talk' sets out their stall: a shuffling, shimmying groove upon which an unruffled bassline and blue-tinged jazz chords blissfully coast. This is warm, dreamy, house so deliciously laidback and soulful that it never outstays its 9-minute running time. The choppy, busy handclaps and ridiculously over-the-top squidgy bass of 'Sway' explore different territory - frenetic synth-funk shimmering with layers of synth and zingy repetitions. 'Yearning' for its part melds a tough, rubbery tick to cycling keys and choric pads. It's the bass that's the star here, bending the tune around its abrasive low-end. Meanwhile, Nils Penner underpins 'Let's Talk' with a huge, booming bassline and brings its spoken-word sample to the fore: a treatment which somehow retains the magic of the original's vibe while lending it a dark, glittering technoid edge.

DABJ favourites Denis Sulta & CT Trax make a welcome return alongside mysterious new boy Fear-E!
Denis Sulta lives in a Bedouin temple in a far off eastern land where he lounges in his imperial bed chamber surrounded by a bevy of beautiful women. These scantily-clad, exotic felines soothe his body and mind with an array of mystical massages as he lies on his luxurious ruby red, Egyptian cotton sheets. He only drinks the finest Buckfast wine and dines on delicious delicacies from far flung corners of the globe. So, thank the lord he was willing to give this up, jump down to the basement and lay down Time 4 Prayer, another fucked up dirty funk Sulta classic. Denis tags in Fear-E for his DABJ debut. Candi's Quadra is a sexy wee off the shoulder number that'll have you goggle eyed and panting for more. On the flip, CT Trax completes the mouth-watering line up to smash home two winners and lift the trophy for the All Stars.

But then again, he always has been. A pioneer DJ and producer hailing from Detroit, whose technical skills are perhaps only equalled by the upper echelons of the city's most advanced techno trailblazers, he's nonetheless forged a path only of his own. Eschewing commercial expectations, scene pressures and anything other than his own exquisite taste, Bone has earned a vital, dedicated audience while remaining comfortably and individually underground.
Despite his stellar reputation, Bone's recent studio activities have steered him towards a new, altogether more personal direction. In late 2015, Differ-Ent's arrival on Don't Be Afraid with the 'Differ-Ent(Hrall)' EP paved the way for its follow-up, 'M.O.M.:' both were forceful slabs of psychedelic outsider techno, with the latter taking on a tangible emotional resonance as it honoured the memory of Bone's late mother. 'M.O.M.' quickly became one of the label's best celebrated and widely played releases. Bone, typically self-sufficient and known to turn down remixes for huge clubbing brands, was impressed by the Bristol label's honesty and persistence. As he continued to rock parties internationally, Bone set to work on an LP embracing his deeper, darker and more cerebral side.
Not that 'It's Good To Be Differ-Ent has found Bone veering away from the dancefloor. "It's like, the natural vibe for me is always going to be funky", admits Bone. "It's going to swing, it's going to have that element of soul. But the Differ-Ent vibe is almost angrier. Determined, perhaps is a better word. I would typically just go to the studio when I had an idea. To the point where I say, 'OK, I'm going to do something, I'm going to make it happen.' But the process for Differ-Ent...it's kinda methodical. It's borderline predictable. But the thing that makes it Different is that it could go any which way at any given time. And it can be harder edged usually, or it can go in a soundtrack direction."
Film plays a significant influence on the landscape of Differ-Ent, with the record's more melodic flourishes sometimes designed to evoke the doubtlessly imaginative chase sequences swimming around Bone's mind. If Bone's usual movements are 'Do The Right Thing', his Spike Lee joint, then in his own words, 'It's Good To Be Differ-Ent' is his tribute to Paul Verhoven's 'RoboCop'.
"The only way I think the album evolved differently was the electro stuff", recalls Bone. "I was excited about that. Because that was a different type of electro as well. It wasn't a normal, 80s funk kinda electro. It completely separates you. It's still for the dancefloor, but it's almost as if it shakes you to dance, rather than coaxes you."
'It's Good To Be Differ-Ent' certainly feels powerful, mastering a mix of Drexicyan tones and drums that align more with a newer wave of house and techno experimentalists. Many of these, from Hodge to Ø/Phase, have been an influence on Differ-Ent, all sharing what Bone describes as a unique affinity with "creepy shit." It's his thunderous, occasionally paranoid but overwhelmingly positive contribution to a forward thinking European scene he has come to relate to on a par with his native Detroit.
Much of ''It's Good To Be Differ-Ent' has been inspired by Bone's frustration. Frustration with the modern political system as well as the creative conservatism of his own scene. In the studio, he has created a unique riposte. But the commercial pressure Bone has always avoided is only growing stronger. Is it harder than ever to be truly different
"It's harder for the majority of people", observes Bone. "For me, it's really easy. I've been preparing myself for this for years."

There aren't many artists that can lay claim to having put out records on labels as divergent as Rough Trade and John Talabot's Hivern Discs. Perhaps this is because few artists express such genuine diversity in their musical tastes and creative explorations as David Kitt. Since the turn of the decade as New Jackson he has mined a seam of driving, ghostly house to run parallel with his solo strand of ambient folk electronica. His debut release in 2011 The Night Mail on Pogo channeled early record collection heroes Aphex Twin and Orbital through to Drexciya and Projekt PM but had one foot firmly in the 21st century beaming in like some futuristic cyberballad. On the flip side Hussle Free had that mix of house and boogie sensibilities with dark and dusty synths and vocoder that would become a signature. This was followed by acclaimed releases on Hivern, Permanent Vacation, Major Problems, Apartment and most recently Cin Cin. His debut album set for release on All City in May was recorded in Kitt's bedroom studio overlooking Dublin bay, its nocturnal hues very much a product of the nightshift often working on headphones with the rest of his housemates fast asleep. It takes full advantage of the scope of the LP format, ebbing and flowing between deep house club ready gems and more restrained and meditative beatless moments for the morning after. The recording process yielded many eureka moments with Kitt finally nailing sounds that had hitherto proved elusive.

2nd album by Russia's Pavel Dovgal on Berlin's Project: Mooncircle label after collabo EPs with Ta-Ku and Krts. Featuring L.A. rapper Blu, Starving Yet Full (ex-vocalist from Azari III) Mujuice, Graciela Maria and Mitia Dedoni! The Aura' and the belief in it can be found in almost all cultures in one form or another. Often signifying fields of energy and spirituality, an aura is a luminous radiational halo surrounding a person or object. It is said that all objects and all living things manifest such an aura. In other respects the aura has also been described as a map of the thoughts and feelings surrounding a person.Pieced together from sounds and samples from all over the globe, the album's aim is to charge listeners with harmony and a feeling of connectedness to the world. Reflecting on his own attitude towards life and the importance of inner balance, Pavel attempts to share some of the spiritual experiences he made while traveling. The lengthy process of creation included numerous reworks of each track and intensive listening sessions in order to keep the balance between the essential details and those that are redundant to the album's atmosphere. The album includes collaborations with old friends like Mujuice, Graciela Maria as well as some newly added artists - L.A. rapper BLU, Starving Yet Full - ex-vocalist from Azari III and Mitia Dedoni, who created the haunting album cover. The Aura' comes out worldwide on limited grey-marbled vinyl (including download code).

In a whirlwind of sex, independence, honesty and darkness, rising star Bebe Black is set to release 'The Deathwish EP' on Jan 21st.
Citing Courtney Love, old-school Madonna, Siouxsie Sioux and Kate Bush as her influences, the singer-songwriter from Dorset, a former fashion student who looks as if she's just stepped off the set of This Is England, writes about love and pain on the release with the candour of someone who's seen it too many times before.
Bebe said: 'Each track on the EP is about grief and anguish, sex and love. They were written as a confession and a release, which I found cathartic. I wanted the tracks to be rhythmic and sexual sounding, but when you scratch beneath the surface you find something honest and raw.'
Remixes by up and coming Ejeca (Needwant / Wolf Music) & Subb-An (One Records).

Local Action's first single of 2013 comes from DJ Q. It's Q's second release on the label, following the vinyl-only, instantly sold-out 'Brandy & Coke', and marks the first taste of his forthcoming debut album.
Q's been a legend to those in the know for almost a decade: his past single 'U Wot' was one of the biggest tracks to ever come out of the UK's bassline house / Niche explosion, and his BBC Radio 1xtra show was a must-listen for UK dance music fans. His recent productions (on Local Action, Unknown to the Unknown, Butterz and more) showcase a producer at the top of his game, able to turn his hands to grime, garage, pop and more, and 'Trust Again', a collaboration with Brit School alumnus Louise Williams is vocal 2-step made to perfection.
'Trust Again' features the first vinyl remix in several years by Karl 'Tuff Enuff' Brown, one half of the legendary UK garage unit Tuff Jam - check Oneman's Fabric CD or Ben UFO's all-vinyl session for RBMA to see how their influence is still felt today. Remixes also come from DJ Q (4x4 remix) and a shredding take by bassline house heavyweight TS7.

Since then, Cade has gone on to release an array of solo single and remixes for the likes of Loco Records, Left'd and Black Key Records, and recently had one of his tracks featured on Michelle Owen's, Moodmusic compilation. A striking indication that Cade's mature and attentive approach to production is making waves in all the right places.
The release kicks off with title track 'Find My Way' which features exciting young vocalist, Ria Moran's heartfelt tones. Cade opts for swinging 909 drums and a hooky bass-lick as the driving force, while Moran's voice sporadically eases in and out of the groove and understated chord stabs and tension building strings fuel the musicality, resulting in a classy, deep-house workout. Up next is 'Dr. Fox', embracing a similar deep, contemporary house aesthetic, with saw-wave bass hits, cosseting pads and hooky vocal snippets acting as the fundamental elements of the cut, Cade then plays on subtle variations in the groove throughout its near seven minute duration, to maintain an evolving dynamism and enticement.
Entering the latter half of the single we have 'Ghostryder' up first, Cade opts for a more upfront approach this time, bringing busy drum programming to the forefront, alongside sweeping synth tones, a tom-driven bass line and dubbed out vocal licks.

The Lost in Time imprint has been releasing bespoke vinyl for a couple of years now. It got off to a flying start with 'The Moment' from Ralph Lawson & Chez Damier and kept up the pace with a series of releases from Ralph Lawson alongside production partner Tuccillo including 'Nightcrawler'. The track has now been picked up and remixed by Denmark's finest house music export from Oscillat and Delaphine records, S.A.M and One Records Subb-an.
S.A.M is fast becoming one of the very best producers of house and dub techno with a string of highly sought after releases on Delaphine that sell out quickly and attract heat on discogs. S.A.M manages to fuse classic craftsmanship with contemporary sounds and has created an epic and atmospheric 10 minute long re-shape for 'Nightcrawler'.
Subb-an needs little introduction as a producer with high integrity and impeccable taste. He's graced the decks at Panorama Bar, fabric, Detroit Movement, Womb Tokyo, Enter, DC10, D'Edge and of course the legendary Below parties. While he's always been busy in the studio with releases for Spectral, Crosstown rebels and 2020Vision. Subb-an strips down 'Nightcrawler' to it's very bones drawing out the classic analogue Kurzweil 2000 synth sound to great effect.
Another chapter in the Lost in Time series.
