Nubian Mindz - Somebody Else (remixes)
PSMEX004
Phutureshock Musik
12inch22.02.201722.FEB.17

HouseDeepElectroDanceFunky

For their first release of 2017, Phuture Shock Excursions venture further afield with an accomplished remix package, featuring two reworks of Nubian Mindz'(Colin Lindo) soulful house gem 'Somebody Else' - which appeared in its original form on last years 'EXCURSIONS' # 3 split EP.

On this bold occasion the Bristol imprint have enlisted the masterful talents of Cavern of Anti-Matter - the latest side project led by Stereolab co-founder Tim Gane. Having so far remixed songs by mainly indie-rock artists, the Berlin-based outfit turn their hand to the disparate realms of underground dance music for the first time. Also lending their seasoned expertise and going against the grain is Sean O'Hagan - the frontman of experimental indie-pop stalwarts The High Llamas.

Residing on the A-side is Cavern of Anti-Matter's epic reconstruction, which eschews the synth- heavy kosmische explorations they're widely known for, in favour for a more dance floor-leaning direction that takes Lindo's vocals on a funky, kaleidoscopic trip across the galaxy via 80s Detroit. Laced with crisp drum machine beats, groovy analogue synth lines aplenty and lush shimmering chords reminiscent of Gane's former groop, it sits somewhere between the raw electro-funk of Cybotron and quite possibly what The Neptunes would sound like if they made techno. While on the flipside Sean O'Hagan serves up a dreamy dub, where select fragments of the original vocals float across soothing passages of live instrumentation. Before the arrangement seamlessly flits between moments of jazzy electric piano grooves and swirling organs, through to melodic baroque pop interludes in 3/4 time - that probably wouldn't sound out of place in the scene of a Pixar animated movie. Shy of just three minutes in length, it's delightfully short and sweet, yet leaves you wanting more upon every listen.

HouseDeepChicago

Reminiscent of a time where we were releasing 4-tracks sampler every month (remember the Secret Gems From The Vault) It is naturally that we thought about a various artists sampler in order to introduce the new wild bunch.
I said new but some of them are pretty familiar, which is the case with the almighty D'julz or Raw District for an incredible update on 2007 « Fast Forward » which deserves its title, Do I need to introduce D'Julz I don't think so, one of the most sought-after French dj and producer, he never disappoints.
Then we are pleased to welcome Accatone, having several EP's and remixes released since 2008 and a full album in 2012 on labels like Dabit, Apparel, Piston Recordings, Roots & Wings, One to One, to name some, and having his work remixed by legendary Matthew Herbert or Jay Tripwire (Poker Flat, Tonality), Piek, (Cadenza, Paulatine, diynamic), Accatone is becoming a full-grown producer by conquering the likes of Dj Sneak, Laurent Garnier, Stacey Pullen, Slam, Timo Maas, Danny Tennaglia, Olderic, David Labeij, Mirco Violi, Severino Panzeta (Horse Meat Disco), Paco Osuna and many others !
Scan Mode aka Alberto Sánchez began his career in the year 1998 and has since traveled throughout the Spanish territory, performing in major venues and festivals alongside the likes of Jeff Mills, Sven Väth, Dubfire, Marco Carola and Richie Hawtin to name a few. He is regarded as an eclectic artist who has taken different professional profiles during his musical career. His music is on the edge of House and Techno with brilliant melodies and rhytmic, Kike Henriquez began editing in Alex Flatner's labels, Later released on labels like BluFin, Greenhorn and with some of the best artists from the tech-house & deep-house scene, Introduced to David Duriez by Something Different(s head honcho Jesus Pablo, Kike soon joined the task force behind this new BR100 release, Another artist to watch out.

Ment - A Kind Of Us Ep (ross From Friends // Troy Gunner // Ramu Remixes)
HGR005
Honey Glazed Records
12inch24.11.201624.NOV.16

HouseDeepFunkyJazzy

Bristol based 'Ment' steps up again for Honey Glazed Records with two cuts of melodic house that are packed with life and soul. A side - 'A Kind Of Us' sets off its warm grooves with shimmering synths and a looping melodic vocal sample. The track builds, wiggles and morphs until an infectious trumpet hook breaks out. Ments' ability to carve out warm and heart-felt melodies is clear on both of his tracks on this record. The B Side - 'My Days' - sees him use a wider array of instruments to provide a more jazz influenced track. Amongst the dipping and diving bass and masterful tinkering on the keys, he still retains the dance floor in mind. The result is a very intelligent piece of music that will still get the floor moving. On the other side of this 12inch comes three quite contrasting remixes of 'A Kind Of Us'. The emerging talent 'Ross From Friends' brings his trademark lo-fi melodic touch. He creates his own unique hook, with synths from the original only used as a backdrop. Troy Gunner - fresh from an exciting release on Monki's Zoo Music, wastes no time putting his stamp on the original. The track opens with a beefy, hypnotic bass loop. Troy's trademark driving and menacing drums soon come swirling in. He then manages to twist the originals summery, warm synths into a dark and eerie break down before ramping up the hypnotic drums and bass again. Ramu returns to Honey Glazed with a funky 303 jam over cut up synths from the original. The result is a versatile EP that caters for lots of different moods and styles, all packaged inside a sleeve designed by talented Bristol artist and frequent Honey Glazed collaborator - Rosie Carmichael.

Nicone & Sascha Braemer - Untied Colors Of Language
SVT091
Stil vor Talent
12inch20.11.201220.NOV.12

HouseDeepMinimalVocalTech

Last year's 'Romantic Thrills' album was testament to Niconé & Sascha Bramer's impressive knack for delicate melodies and soothing vocals, seamlessly woven into powerful house music thanks to the warm pulse of the kick drum. Here, on their new EP 'United Colors of Language', the duo delivers three stunning tracks to rival their previous output in both, romanticism and danceability. On the A1, the vocalist Narra once again lends her fabulous voice to an arrangement of harmonious guitar loops and euphoric build-ups. Much like 'Caje' before it, 'Rej Senhor' sets itself apart as an all-round secret weapon that will work in the club or at an open air, during peak-time and after-hour alike. A little more forward, 'Cold World' loops a fluidly rolling piano towards a break in which Niconé's own vocals bedazzle. Finally, the pair draws us into an Algerian lullaby in the form of 'Raoui', which combines the empathy and melancholy of ethnic folk music with a hands-in-the-air groove. With this standout EP Niconé & Sascha Bramer achieve what they set out to do - they prove that music is the most powerful language of all!

Red Rack'em - Self Portrait
BERGLP001
Bergerac
2x12inch16.02.201716.FEB.17

HouseDeepDisco

2016 was a huge year for Red Rack'em with his smash hit 'Wonky Bassline Disco Banger' being hammered by just about everybody all over the place. It's been one of the biggest tracks of the year so far in the underground scene with The Black Madonna professing it as her 'track for the summer' on Pete Tongs Miami special on Radio 1 and a whole host of other DJs (including MCDE, Mr Scruff, Mano Le Tough and Detroit Swindle) jumping on board it's cracked out and super fresh take on disco house.Wonky Bassline is the culmination of a producer spending years honing his craft and while the world was justifiably going crazy to it, Danny Berman was quietly putting the final touches to his first 'proper' Red Rack'em artist album, which is aptly titled 'Self Portrait'.Released on his own label Bergerac 'to retain complete creative freedom', the album is a super personal journey through the many facets of house, disco and club music that Berman has explored in his 22 years as a DJ and 10 years of releases for Philomena, Ramp, Phonica, Wolf Music, City Fly and of course on his own labels Bergerac and Nettles.Focussing on sample heavy, off kilter yet danceable grooves, it's an extended trip through the mind of a true auteur who truly has his own unique perspective of what house music should sound like and how it should function in the club.Berman says that he was working on the album over a period of 'at least 4 years' and the music has been specially selected from 'stacks of tracks' so rest assured only the best has made the cut. The artwork comes from an old high school friend Abby Smith who got in touch with Danny via Facebook and asked if she could paint him. As it was the first contact they had had for many years, it seemed like fate and created the album concept - a true musical self portrait. The album opens with 'April Fool', an optimistic, sweet jam with a sun drenched halcyon feel. Super emotional and built for those eyes closed moments on the dancefloor.'Hot Weekend' features NZ ice queen City Hayes on vocals - this is a full on Detroit influenced monster with a rolling breakbeat and vintage Planet E/Recloose vibes. Hayes sings of debauched times while the music simultaneously peaks out on a UPS. Big!'Something That I Thought About ' shows Bermans thoughtful side. Super deep yet driving with a slightly melodic techno feel. 'I want you to show me how to love you every day''Wonky Bassline Disco Banger' is present here in its full form but comes with a brand new intro constructed from a fan video. A monster of a track which drops again and again - Danny shows us just how far you can stretch the disco house formula to explore new heights.Side B closes with 'Mad House' which is a super sinister, garage influenced warehouse banger designed to wreck the discotheque. Sinister rolling hi hats and held notes build the tension while offbeat snares and staccato bass slap the listener round the head.'Tomato Pope' is another biggie which harks back to the Africanism days with its North African influenced sound. Huge swinging beats, a system testing bassline and dubby delays make for an almighty party smasher which is sure to see plenty of play. Tomato Pope indeed....

Several years ago Red Rack'em interviewed Detroit legend Rick Wade on his much loved Smugglers Inn Radio show. During the interview, Rick reminisced about his teenage years listening to music and imagining how he could present this fascinated feeling to other people in a club context. The rest is history for Rick and it's the inspiration for 'The Music'. As well as featuring Ricks spoken words on the track it's a heads down Deep House number which is not a million miles away from some of the early Rick Wade tracks which influenced Berman.

Cosmic disco house anthem alert...'Kos Mich' is a track which Rack'em has been testing out at gigs over the last couple of years and it's also had quite a lot of other labels requesting to release it as well. But thankfully, it's place on the album is safe. This is another big club track with that elusive deep yet big room feel. Kos Mich baby!

Things slow down a touch with 'Sel' but the club wrecking ball potential remains. This is Danny demonstrating his well-rehearsed beat down skills with a super swampy, bluesy hoe down of a track which is already picking up a lot of attention from recent club plays. More of a slow BANG than a slow Jam.

'You Used To Make Me Feel' closes the album with an off the wall dissection of why some people choose to have sex. 'I like to do it to unwind' professes Berman while the beats skitter and scatter before resolving into something resembling a normal beat.

HouseDeepElectronicaTechFunky

Championsound continue to blaze a trail, showcasing some of the hottest new talent to emerge from Ireland's vibrant music scene...
Following hot on the heels of the premiere release on Champion Sound in 2013 , next in line comes the work of prolific Northern Irish producer, T-Polar, whose previous releases on Acroplane, Saigon Recordings, Morris Audio, !Kaboogie Records and Rebirth garnered the support of everyone from Mary Anne Hobbs to 2562 to Boddika.
In keeping with his previous output and adding to what must surely be Ireland's deepest discography in electronic music (dating back to 2004), T-Polar (aka Gary Spence) releases Feetwork, an EP which hop-scotches genres, roughened up by the searing properties of hoover bass, teamed with tough, rolling kicks, nods to leftfield House and vintage rave, and peppered with skittering two-step grit.

The remix in the pack comes from the increasingly ubiquitous Unknown whose Youtube uploads and remixes have been setting the internet alight with speculation.

Unexpected record that seems to be coming out of no-where on this limited one sided MOM release. Craig Alexander did some excellent releases on Track Mode and Dust Traxx... but this beats them all. Catalogue Number PP018 has been work in progress for quite a while now. Wind-s originally appeared in a slightly different version as part of the soundtrack to one of Rohtheaters` plays. The track features all the typical Obalski elements we have grown so fond of in the past. Dreamy pads and odd melodies create the sort of ambient that carries you away somewhere else (Bravo!). We decided that it would be interesting to hear other artists take their turn on the material. The Japanese duo Mascaras (Chida & 5ive) transformed Wind-s in an atmospheric drum workout. Fantastically incorporating the breezy synth elements of the original into their flow of percussion. Press play - Lift off. The B-Side gives space to Nick Höppner's epic Techno groove. Meet Thorsteinssøn. The Iceland-born-Denmark-bred Gunnar Thor Viggosson better known as one half of 76-79 with Tommy Vicari Jnr and bossman at Comfortable Records and Vanity. Right now, though, we're calling him the man behind the first Pets artist album this year... Deliciously cosmic and cheerily schizophrenic, 'Academy Of Heroes' is inspired by a brilliant creative project Thorsteinssøn practiced during his years living in Amsterdam: Solar Industry Radio. A project that would begin with a made up artist or band name in styles ranging from cosmic funk, scandinavien disco to noise collages of the galaxies. A joyously backwards project that inspired a rich rainbow of styles, the content was then represented 24/7 online, collaged with strange jingles and sifi snippets. Genius. Returning to those creations, Thorsteinssøn and Pets have weaved together a full album that cherry picks from his thunderous proliferation: from the strutting west coast deep house of '1976' to the introverted electro boogie of 'N M T F R' by way of the poignant chords of 'Untitled Disco Six', the wry acid wriggles of 'Channel DISQ' and the Trans Am twinkles of 'Beneath A Steel Sky', the 14 collection acts as an immersive, timeless collage. A smorgasbord of synthetic exploration, rich in sci-fi, space and robotic sympathy, pieced together with the same spirit of his cult radio transmissions, it works just as well on the cans as it does in the dance... And it's en route with an equally alluring package of remixes. An album, a radio show for freaks or simply a journey into Thorsteinssøns world.. Whatever... He really is a creative maverick. !

Classic Coke - Blood Rite
GTI0006
Grade 10
12inch09.11.201609.NOV.16

HouseDeepTechJazzyBeatsBass

Blood Rite's A-Side comes in the form of two fast-paced tracks pulling guidance from juke, footwork and beyond. The opening bars kick-start with Blood Rite's aggressive rolling drums, all complimented with a jazzy trumpet call sitting comfortably atop of complex patterns. Huzzahh is equal parts high energy and smooth, with a keys led groove that is easy on the ears and takes listeners on a four minute journey through Classic Coke's influences.

Flip the 12" onto GTi006's B-Side and the pace slows with the vocals of Days 2 Weeks overdubbing a glitchy juke base. The multiple layers add the signature G10 rawness and depth to the third track from the EP. The final roller, B. Tru, is a twisted edit of an instantly recognisable 80s singalong combined with dancefloor ready drum snares. Blood Rite is a four-track dose of screwed vocal loop rounds and powerful BPM measures.

HouseDeepTech

Closely following the release of her critically acclaimed album 'Valor', trained musician Dinky releases the second single from the album on Crosstown Rebels. The stunning 'Slowly' also gets the remix treatment from fellow Panorama Bar favorites and Berliners Matthew Styles and Radio Slave.
'Slowly', like most of the tracks on the album is centered around Dinky's illustrious vocals. Resident Advisor said of the vocals (I can see that I'm losing you slowly) is as poignant as the song's fragile piano'
Matthew Styles is a highly respected DJ and producer who as the first label manager of Crosstown Rebels has since made his way as a producer in his own right releasing on the likes of Ostgut Ton and his own Running Back that he runs with Gerd Janson. His remix takes the song to euphoric heights with it's infectious bassline and impressive disposition. Dinky reveals that Matthew knew the song and its meaning so well that he captured its spirit perfectly.'
Matt Edwards aka Radio Slave is also back on the label since his highly celebrated remix of Aphrohead last year. Owner of Rekids, Matt recently released 'Vision', which celebrated ten years of the label. Here for his first remix he delivers a pulsating beast, intricate in its ethereal chords and vocals. For his second remix he conjures a stripped down, minimalistic version with broken percussion and fervid synths for a beautiful and compelling effect.

Vega Records
12inch23.06.201523.JUN.15

HouseDeepNu Disco

House music, nightlife entertainment and DJ/Producer virtuoso Louie Vega has proven over and over again that he's a master chemist in the studio. His latest release is an uptempo and speaker-knocking remix of Funkadelic's 'Ain't That Funkin' Kind of Hard on You' (produced by George Clinton and & G Koop) from the album 'First Ya Gotta Shake the Gate'.
The original version is nothing short of a classic, but it's as if the song had never been invited to a Louie Vega post-midnight global extravaganza. Was the song not aware that spellbound dancing and high BPMs were the standard for House Music Normally, such a blaring disregard for nightlife decorum would relegate a song to the pits of sonic hell, but we're talking about George Clinton here! The original opens up with a G-funk groove that screams Westside and lowriders. The listener is then blessed with Clinton as he adds his sage, soulful and pimpadelic vocals, complemented by Funkadelic singers asking him about the pains of the funk. The semblance of a beat that could drive the dancefloor into the morning hours is there, but in no way has it blossomed into its full glory. Enter Louie Vega.
His remix immediately greets listeners with a decadent spread of instrumentation and chutzpah. The original song's DNA populates the first thirty seconds of the remix but then an explosion takes place and the song assumes a new identity. The transcendent experience is akin to taking the elevator to a rooftop party and once the doors open- boom! The remix begs you to dance, the G-funk groove is now in your face instead of being laidback and percussion takes a front seat to take you away. The song is alive, there's no other way to describe it.
Be sure to buy your vinyl at an outlet near you! the Louie Vega remix of Funkadelic's 'Ain't That Funkin' Kind of Hard on You' on Vega Records!

A bitter-sweet, feel good song for late summer, 'She's So Untouchable' is the new track from Tel-Avi's Garden City Movement, backed with remixes by Psychemagik, Seven Davis Jr, Moscoman and a 12' edit by the band themselves.
The Garden City Movement trio of Joe, Roi and Johnny produce a blend of sounds drawn from their diverse cultural worlds, ranging from sweet hypnotic beats to bass heavy tracks to horizontally aligned vibes. When we were asked to tag the new song we placed it under "Emotional Balerica", is this even a thing It is now. As a band who tours around the world all the time it's quite hard to find time to sit in the studio and work like we used to. We try to keep it up through our journey around the world; so if its lakes in Estonia, markets from India or a cabin in the middle of nowhere - we're there sampling and recording the vibe. We can make you feel again- Garden City Movemen Since surfacing at the close of 2013 with their breakout track 'Move On', Garden City Movement have released their 'Entertainment' and 'Bengali Cinema' EPs, the 'Modern West' 12' in collaboration with The Vinyl Factory, climbed the Hype Machine Popular Chart with multiple singles, opened for Bonobo, Caribou, Alt-J and played live all over the world. The band's music video for single 'Move On' received a nomination for Best Music Video at the LA Film Festival and won 'Best Video of The Year' at the MTV Israel Music Awards. They are currently recording their debut album, set for release in 2017.
