In 2015 musician, producer, DJ, record collector and Tigersushi head honcho Joakim played for the first time at Mareh festival in Boipeba, Brasil. Like many before him and many since, he found the experience a transformative one. And why not
So many like-minded souls gathered together on a remote island in Bahia listening to the sounds of amazing DJs while dancing barefoot in idyllic coastal settings all night long. What's not to like It's quite a concept.
In the moment of that experience, Joakim vowed to head straight to the studio on his return home to try and recapture that magical vibe, which he did. And true to his word he offered it back to Mareh for release on their imprint. A musical gift from the heart.
The wonderful percussion and drums characteristic of Joakim's productions drift in and around the mix and sit gently alongside the sound of the waves. Beautiful arps reach out and capture the glittering stars at night and the first glorious sign of light at sunrise as the party continues. Underneath everything the bassline continues to punch through, blending primeval Carnival vibes with an electronic sensibility. Lovingly mastered and beautifully pressed onto 10 inch vinyl in manila covers, this limited edition release is worthy of any record collection.
It also represents a little piece of the magic that is Boipeba, and will certainly fit perfectly into those Balearic and Adriatic settings too.

After 4 years of silence, Kreon & Lemos are back with their first release in their own imprint, Equivalence. Having already a number of collaborations in labels such as Be Chosen, Resopal and We are, the duo finished a number of projects that are going to be released exclusively in this label. This first release offers two dancefloor oriented techno cuts with lots of low frequencies, modulated delays and heavy filtering.

Minimono delivers an amazingly unsuspected release from the historical Italian Cult label from Rome, Vibraphone Records. We heard Fabio Della Torre and Ennio Colaci back on Bosconi and Robsoul recently with their trademarked funky sound, but this time the Florentine duo goes for more challenging atmospherical and spacey house vibes with this solid four tracker called, in fact, "Next Step": the first track, which gives the title to the EP, is a bouncing and uplifting old-not-nu school deep house gem reminding us of some DIY or Charles Webster mid 90's works, the second track instead, called "Sailing", is definitively more faithful to some true early Italo-house with the heavenly smell of Riviera-sound magic. On the flip side Minimono drops "Suspended", probably the most conceptually modern piece of this vinyl: a deep-driving underwater and cinematic trip through subtle soulful cuts and psychedelic accents. The final cut has a romantic and deeper mood of the Deep Burnt which inspired the closing track, "Take Your Time", because it can be always the time..for a Next Step when Minimono meets The True Underground Sound Of Rome.

Trevor Jackson has been working at the forefront of audio and visual culture for over 20 years. The London based Creative Director, moving-image maker, producer and DJ's work includes countless classic record covers, and has been exhibited at prestigious international galleries/museums like the ICA, the Barbican, and the Guggenheim. Jackson's iconic Output Recordings label ran from 1996-2006 and helped launch the careers of Four Tet and LCD Soundsystem. Trevor released a classic 'DJ Kicks' album, for !K7 and remixed artists as diverse as Metronomy, Massive Attack, U2, The Cure, Tiga, Run DMC, Soft Cell and Dinos Chapman. He's created award-winning artwork for Soulwax, been commissioned to create audio visual works for major brands like BMW, Lexus and Coca Cola, and continues to work as an art director, designer and film maker - most recently for XL recordings signing POWELL and US major league beat-maker Clams Casino.PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED' follows the success of last year's multi-edition album release 'F O R M A T' via The Vinyl Factory, media praise his 'Science Fiction Dancehall Classics' On-U Sound compilation, and the 'Metal Dance' series for Strut.

Sockholm-based imprint Swedish Brandy Productions serves up a pair of sultry house numbers
with a remix from Berger & Young.

Stuttering synths and infectious clicks set the ball rolling in 'Broken' before a bouncy bass line, syncopated chord

Damien Lynch enjoys countryside a drive in the twilight hour. This is his second offering for the ESP Institute. On side A, Brunette opens with a straight-ahead techno thump of hi-hats and a pulsating 16th-note bassline—a subtle playing field composed solely with a rare 1970's Italian machine, the Godwin Drummaker 32, unearthed from the secret back room of a music shop in rural Ireland where it hid among wonderful vintage Russian synths and oddball electronics. This elegant track drips with warm and phasing pads, gentle staccato keys and beautifully simple arpeggios that blur every now and then—all affirming Damien's less-is-more ideology. With side B's Forced Relax, Damien continues to exercise his restraint, arranging his instruments in a band-like fashion, affording each player the sonic space to project their individual qualities whilst supporting an overall dialogue. There is a soft ebb and flow to every machine's role, whether the swelling of bass or the interplay of percussive keys, but when these characters arrive in one place, the result is a tranquil euphoria. These two songs will accept you for who you truly are.

Dear Earth is as fresh as the wind. Locate him in Englands capital, he is one of those guys who live for sampling. He is incredibly productive but apart from a remix for marcel Vogel's Always' Isnt Only, this his first release.

Dinamo Azari is an artist revitalised. The Montreal-born, Toronto-based musician behind the global phenomenon Azari & III presents a blinding new remix package of solo single Victim, featuring Detroit techno legend Carl Craig and Sev-erino of hedonistic party starters Horse Meat Disco.

Clocking in at just over eight minutes, Carl Craig's 'Victim' Dub pulls body shock basslines into a taught, immersive trip through industrial tech house, adorned with criss-crossing percussive highs and the low-slung vocal mantra 'into the groove' twisting through its shadows.

Severino serves up two incarnations, each exercising his minimal, soul flexing prowess for slinking, underground house. Vocals switch from vogue-ready dancefloor shapes into booming, bass confessions, 'I'm not the victim. I'm not your mother...'

Having released his new solo album 'Estranged' in March, which garnered plentiful praise for its return to the thriving underground roots of Toronto's warehouse scene, the new remix package for lead single 'Victim' continues the shud-dering pulse that underpins much of the album's raw, minimal, darker slices of disco and house.

Anonymous engineer Man Power delivers the Kiloton EP for Correspondant's 26th release, available in both digital and vinyl formats on 14 April 2014. The producer's recent contributions to the label, including a track on Compilation 02, feature corrosive riffs and irreverent stylistic mixing. Kiloton presents a tighter sound complimenting label signatures of

acid-laced, dramaturgical warm-ups and off-kilter body workouts.

Man Power opens Kiloton with Balearic beats and chugging 303 acid, summoning a Soca-style saxophone intervention, then stirring discordant synths into a sonic whirlpool. All sound is momentarily sucked into a silent plateau, before plunging back down to ride out the track with new momentum. In his outerworld rework, Hardway Bros' Brit Sean Johnston pitches down the original, swerving into low-slung 80s styling and leaving behind galactic static.

"Parenthesis" is built around samples from a '71 conversation between critical philosophers Chomsky and Foucault on the need for creative freedom in human labor. Man Power creates urgency around the tempered delivery of Chomsky's words with escalating, acid-drenched pulses, distorted echoes, and distended synths to simultaneously soporific and provocative effect.

British producer and DJ Raudive turns out a cold-blooded, high-octane rework of "Parenthesis". His minimalist composition puts a driving kick drum at the core, and the narrative is compressed down around the directive matrix of "Work" and the encircling echoes of "Repression - Oppression - Destruction - Coercion". Raw electricity jolts bones.

Haçienda Classiçal sees DJs Graeme Park and Mike Pickering, the original DJs behind the unique Haçienda sound, spin club classics in full harmony with a live orchestra, Manchester Camerata, alongside vocals from the AMC Choir and special guests. The resulting collision of seminal dance music and orchestral instrumentation has breathed new life into club anthems such as Blue Monday, Voodoo Ray, Good Life and Ride On Time. Other tracks featured in the live set and on the album include Strings of Life, Move Your Body and Rowetta's stunning new take on You Got The Love.

Sleazy McQueen, ne´ Laurin Fedora, has been one of the U.S.'s foremost purveyors of classic disco, fuzzy house, and funky edits for over a decade, so it's about time we bring him into the fold at LPH. Doing it in style and with a bang by delivering a package that includes two originals—the cosmic 'Huit Etoiles' and the bumpin' shuffler 'Galway Jam'—plus two remixes of the titular track, one by Kenji Takimi, best known as the founder of Japan's preeminent dance music label, Crue­L, one by Gerd Janson, the head honcho at Running Back as well as Lauer's better half in Tuff City Kids.

Volume 2 in Trax new re issue series "Chicago Trax", delves deeper into the archives to unearth more 'lost tracks' from the legendary Chicago house label.
Kicking off with "Dum Dum - Part 2" by Fresh (TX115 - 1986), following on from Part 1 which came out on Larry Sherman's Precision (named after his pressing plant) in 1984, and included a prototype version of what would become "Real Love" by Jesse's Gang. Its follow up, Part Two, produced by Jesse Saunders was just as basic consisting of bass, drums and the occasional squelch or stab.
Next up... Yes its him again - Farley Jackmaster Funk with "Give Your Self To Me" (TX116 - 1986). Featuring uncredited vocal performances from both Ricky Dillard and Kevin Irving, this is almost symphonic in comparison with some of Farley's previous foray's into the studio, possibly aided by the fact he utilised a producer, Danny Wilson, to finesse his efforts.
On the B side we start with Willie Wonka's "What Is House (TX122 - 1986). Dwayne Grant's name seems to have slipped off the radar, but this wasn't even his first release, having already recorded under the name Grant for Sherman's Precision the year prior to this. Unusually for some, "What Is House" is Linn drum-heavy and from memory, I believe this vocal comes from the producer reading an early piece written about Chicago house. Yet another underrated tune from the vaults.
Finally we have Radio Fashion "What You Deserve" (TX123 - 1987). An anomaly in the Trax catalogue, Radio Fashion would seem more at home an obscure Belgian label or even on Wax Trax! Although they did contribute to other house releases (like "The Jackin' National Anthem" on Hot Mix 5), vocalist Jim Romano turned up on a Die Warzau album in the early 90's doing background vocals.

Mexican duo, Zombies in Miami, make a powerful return to Correspondant, with 2 originals that manage to capture the menace, drive and excitement of their live show.

Title track ‚Black Purple' is a growling and growing full frontal assault. A high octane blend of rolling bass and motorik percussion, paired with electronic swells and an almost ecclesiastic refrain from vocalist Jenice.

The second original track ‚Shadows' initially takes a more stripped-back approach, but quickly grows into darkly anthemic proportions, with echoes and stabs eventually giving way to vocals, soaring spacious synths, and a truly hypnotic bass melody.
Italian partnership, Marvin & Guy, make their first appearance on Correspondant with their dramatic remix of Black Purple. Built around a pumping analogue bass arpeggio, the added layers of vocals and synth melodies take the track in to altogether more emotional territory, but with a booming techno pulse holding it all together. territory, but with a booming techno pulse holding it all together.

Credit 00 strikes back with four cuts between Jungle Funk and sublime Party bombs. "Tribal Rhythm Machine" starts off with subtle but effective drumming that works on the dance floor as much as it could be the soundtrack to your road trip to Utopia. Then there is "Curse Of The Medusa", a pretty rumbling track that takes full advantage of its super-funky vocal samples and almost explosive percussion action. "Voodoo Soup" fishes in muddy waters with Credit 00's distinctive drum work and tribal sounds from outer space. The final track "Snake Charmer" is building things up nice and steady. But when the hypnotizing synth melody breaks ground neither serpents nor dancers can resist. The artwork was created by Alexander Dorn a.k.a. Credit 00 himself.

Hudd Traxx call on London based US Producer Lance De Sardi for their last EP before they hit 50 Releases and celebrate their 10th Anniversary. De Sardi it seems is more than up for the task, and it's no surprise having had previous releases dating back to the 90's on classic labels like Seasons & Om, as well as his more recent Legwork Records, which he co-owns. Pariah kicks the EP off in fine style with a Deep House Monster of a track, smooth beats, an infectious vocal and lush pads ensure that this will be a big one for the heads. Although the EP only has 3 tracks there's plenty of variety. Flip for the B Side and find a tough Acidy number in Youth, and a groovy track in Race the Clock which is made for the dance floor. 2015 is already proving to be a big year for Hudd Traxx following releases from Iron Curtis & Nachtbraker, and Lance De Sardi keeps the flag flying high with this solid EP.

Japanese producer Mahal, who had his debut on RHR 006, releases his first solo 12" with the deep and dubby single - Ongaku. On remix duties are notorious Lady Blacktronika (UQ, Sound Black) and RHR regular, HVL. Both offer mesmerizing and addictive interpretations of the original track.

Benson Herbert & Leo Picking aka Voyeur stepped onto the scene in 2012 with their 'Blame It On The Youth' EP, released through Kerri Chandler's then fledgling MadTech imprint, the New Jersey legend has mentored the duo ever since shifting them onto parent label Madhouse with the 'Rain Away' EP and featuring a Voyeur remix of his and Jerome Sydenham's 'Mama' on his Watergate compilation. Here we see the pair return to Madhouse with their soul-infused sound that's seen them pick up support from the likes of Norm Talley, Nicholas and John Daly. Title cut 'Tonight' kicks off the release and sees Voyeur offer up a classically sample based cut, fusing an array of chopped up snippets with loose organic rhythms and ethereal synth flourishes running alongside analogue bass licks and hypnotic vocal murmurs. 'Don't Lie To Me' retains a similar aesthetic with dusty drum sounds running alongside lavish piano, horn and vocal hooks. Entering the latter half of the release we have 'Why' which takes on a jazz-infused house feel, employing infectious guitar riffs, fluttering Rhodes lines and a bumpy rhythmic swing.
Closer 'Philae & Rosetta' then rounds off this classy collection on a deeper tip with sparse understated rhythms while an underlying blues vibe adds a smooth and smoky feel to things.

Toronto Hustles kick their EP off with the classic house sound of 'In Your Mind'. Mr Fingers style bassline over chunky chords and a well chosen Rasta vocal sample builds an infectious house groove. 'Just Enough' is perfect terrace material and will keep those early morning deep house heads happy. 'The Raw Cut' brings a tougher groove to the EP, reminiscent of that roper mid 90's US house sound from Chicago.

'Gjørme' kicks things off with a sharp kick and tumbling bongos that gather momentum towards abrupt shifts in intensity that are certain to send the floor into rapture. 'Jorden' then drives a full-bodied kick drum through more busy bongos and a persistent, circling bass pattern that keeps tension bubbling throughout. 'Sand' then finishes up with frazzled feedback signals and a loose-limbed groove. My Other Life on Earth's wistful keys are spread thick over percussive blips and a warm and weighty bassline, then in Everything Works Backwards restless kicks dance with sad and beautiful melodics. But My Mind provides a stark but strangely fitting ending, as fitful FM waves and tones send us drifting off on a proper digital trip.
