House Vinyl New Releases - News

Working out of Haarlem, Netherlands, Aleks has returned with his second release for Los Angeles-based label, Hesperian Sound Division. Different Stories features a selection of works from the multifaceted Dutch producer, concentrated in the intersection between meditative landscapes, and delicately shuffling drum tracks. Offering simplicity in structure, each track exhibits a concise yet detail-oriented approach, translating into four highly organic pieces.

The More Things Stay the Same is dego's sophomore solo LP - a collection of soulful, mid-tempo melodies laced with warm synths, impeccable beats and masterful musicianship rooted in Jazz Fusion, classic Funk and Electro.

In making the album, dego digs deep into his life experiences. From the first track to the last, his sonic signature inscribes his impressions on the duality of life. Dego says: "The More Things Stay the Same is about the state of play - truth can bring despair as well as hope. The two sit side by side. Like history often repeating mistakes, but also bringing learning and progress."

For the LP, dego leads a team of stellar musicians and trusted co-conspirators: multi-instrumentalists Kaidi Tatham, Mr Mensah and Matt Lord, as well as vocalist Sharlene Hector of Basement Jaxx fame. Hip-hop artist TY also makes an appearance on 'The Middle Ground'. With The More Things Stay the Same, dego carries out the vision of his influential 2000BLACK label and collective, formed in 1998 to continue the legacy of black music and to contribute to what makes soul, boogie and dance music great.

Undefined by any singular genre and a pioneering force in London club music culture in drum 'n' bass and London boogie, dego continues to forge dance music's intrepid yet soulful future in his constant search for the ultimate groove.

After successfully releasing the debut of EGYPTIAN NIPPLES (duo act formed by Massimiliano Pagliara and Jules Etienne) with the 5 track EP "BACK BUT HALF" Apersonal Music now reveals the remix pack for the mini-album, commissioning 4 experienced producers seeking to maintain the high quality and old school vibe of the original tracks. It was not easy to keep the high standard set by the beautiful tunes produced by Massi and Jules, but you can be sure that names such as Lauer, Jay Shepheard, Session Victim and Luvless did their homework in the best fashion possible. German producer Lauer (who is no new name in the playground with a bunch of great singles, a highly acclaimed album and lots of remixes on labels as Running Back and Permanent Vacation) selected BACK BUT HALF to remix. Maintaining the old school US vibe of the original track, house music is the name of the game here, and at its best! Jay Shepheard, usual producer on Apersonal, gave a clubby dancefloor twist to the electro gem of BOTTLE OF MINE. It will be hard not to stand up when they drop this one on the dancefloor. Session Victim (Retreat / Delusions Of Grandeur) wisely understood the coastal vibe of the original EP (and album cover) by remixing L.A. MELODY towards a Caribbean taste with a Berlin vibe. Last but not least, Luvless (Rose Records / Razor N Tape) took WEEKEND LOVER and transformed it into a dreamy sound blaster for that special moment in your DJ set. Someone said after party

Justin Robertson's Deadstock 33s released an acclaimed album in 2015, 'Everything Is Turbulence', picking up plaudits from leading press, DJs and music fans alike. Now the label behind the LP, Skint Records, offers up the first batch of fascinating remixes from a broad array of dance music talents.

Minimono strikes back this time on new born italian label Greentech joined by a remix by neverthelss than Mr Paul Johnson. This 4 tracker starts with the raw filter house banger track named "Boogie" , follwed by "Follow Me" a dirt dry funk house jam. On the B side we find the deeper and rawer vintage roller "The Difference" followed by the percussive ghetto interpretattion of "Boogie" by Paul Johnson. Solid Ep for the 1st release of Greentech Music.

With his accomplished Barcelona EP having turned the heads of Seth Troxler, Maya Jane Coles, Ben Pearce and Maribou State among many others, Church head honcho Seb Wildblood returns with a hugely assured EP that matches his nascent label's promising recent output. Side A opener Hunney is a blissful summer evening affair, offering a shimmering, reflective twist on new sounds that's tailor-made for cruising down the strip with the top down. Edmondson, meanwhile, delicately flips the script towards the dancefloor with a vibrant and ethereal remix perfect for a season of rooftops, beaches and back gardens. The A Side also features the EP's eponymous track, a downbeat, atmospheric and subtle piece that's over all too quickly and demands another listen. The B Side to Wildblood's latest release seems to possess a more timeless quality. Warm brings together a wealth of rich samples - think dreamy echoes, lush chords and irresistible drum programming - to create possibly the strongest club cut of the bunch. Church partner in crime Apes is on hand to turn in a catchy, swinging and snare-driven remix, while Kommune1 brings the curtain down on the EP with a deft reinterpretation of Come Into My House that preserves the original's soul and warmth whilst skilfully upping the intensity.

Seth Troxler and The Martinez Brothers' Tuskegee Music continues to deliver the goods behind releases from Kool D, ex-Trouw resident William Kouam Djoko and Seth himself. Now on their 6th release, Tuskegee present a new collaborative effort between The Martinez Brothers, Jesse Calosso and Phil Moffa who - operating under their new production alias 'Soundview' - piece together a tribute to Rob Fernandez.

With this being their first contribution to the label since the first release - the Martinez Brothers team up with close label friend and erudite sound technician Phil Moffa who adds to a slew of successful collaborations that have recently seen releases on Hypercolour, Plan B and The Corner. Also in on the studio session, Jesse Calasso, long-term friend of The Martinez Brothers, delivers his latest contribution to the Tuskegee catalogue following his label debut on the "Come Up" EP.

Beginning his career as a doorman at Tracks, Rob Fernandez went on to become a true stalwart of New York's scene throughout and beyond the 90's who - throughout, played a primary role in keeping the spirit and love for dance music alive in the city. Now - in keeping with the 90's indebted ethos of Tuskegee Music - Soundview present their homage to a legend in the form of the 'The Method: a 2-track EP brimming with live analogue drum work and hustling acid lines.

'Nex Legends' kicks things off with a tight, bubbling groove that glides under wildly pitched percussion and mangled vocal signals. An olio of effects drive progress forwards alongside an urgent organ stab before 'Do You Miss Brooklyn' sets a sordid acid line under freely sequenced 909 drums. A minor-key melody gently pushes through alongside trippy spoken vocals that cap off another fine addition to the Tuskegee catalogue.

Official repress that will slay the dancefloor!

Midi Mood Records is glad to introduce 'Look at me', the new EP by Manfredi Barbarossa (known as DJ Manfred), in collaboration with Sanna Hartfield's marvellous voice, with whom he had already produced the chill-house track 'City of lights' (remixed by Martin Roth, Alex Dimou and Phunx). This issue too is the result of the cooperation among three prominent producers: Moodymanc, known also as Dubble D, representative of the 2020Soundsystem. Tevo Howard, an historic American DJ and representative of the most authentic Chicago house. Marcman, a talent producer from Romania, who has published high-level releases on labels as Moan, Bass Culture, Time Has Changed, Oslo, Monique and many others. Characterized by an elegant and suggestive old-school style, 'Look at me' offers the perfect combination between voice and sound. The rhythm and the balanced style grant an unprecedented harmony that presents a waving energy around the notes. 'Look at me' besides being the real title of the sequence, it seems to be the expression of steadiness and fluidity of the voice, in a context of music balance, presenting in the first part a moderate and suggestive trend, the second one completely changes the rhythm, on different tones. Sparkling, enchanting, intense and even emotionally involving. All this makes of this EP an original and excellent new band.

mrCarter continues the tour of vinyl with TasticFunk...With an AMAZING Emanuel Satie remix we go hard into the groove mood! Highly recommended

The prolific Lay-Far has had a string of stunning 12's over the past few years and nothing seems to be stopping him either.
Aroop Roy's eclectic work as a producer has been supported worldwide by numerous tastemakers including Gilles Peterson, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Patrick Forge and Laurent Garnier.

We got in touch with Aroop after hearing his brilliant contributions on G.A.M.M. (Brazil Breakdown part 1 & 2) and on his Basic Fingers debut he continues his trait of delivering top quality reworks.

Three versatile tracks that pack a mean punch. Rare groove, steel band disco and a slice of funk - it's all in here. Come get it while it's hot!

Musashi (born Michael Alexander) is a Chicago native who transplanted to Los Angeles, California. His soul purpose in life is to heal the world through music. Pots n' Kettles is proud to present his first ever release in the form of this 3 song E.P. featuring Techy n' Deep vibes tinged with Garage sensibilities.
MISS CALCULATION
Party music: Musashi's rich and warm vocal cuts through the Moog inspired riff that starts out smooth then gets quirky in moments... Minimal New Jersey'esque drums n' sub drive the groove. The fun that was had producing this song is palatable n' makes for an easy one to get into.
DEEPEST PART OF TOWN
Jackin' Chitown beats are met with a Rhodes riff that sounds like wind chimes dancing. Deep Oberheim bass and uplifting synth arpeggiator lead into a beautiful vocal about being lost on a dancefloor. Clever drum programming and effects keep the smiles big on the dancefloor.
IT'S REAL
A Murk-inspired vocal track that will turn-on with just the right amount of glitch in the drums and just the right amount of acid in the Kool-aid to slip this heater into all sorts of proper DJ sets.

Mental Groove Records is thrilled to announce the debut release of french dj/producer Vax1 aka Marion Xavier delivering a subtle, gorgeous and much valuable house / electro e.p. for your eerie nightlife moments that will make a lot of people jealous. You know that feeling when you stumble upon a tune that will stay in your playlist for a while Introducing the Kira Neris remix! With his skilled hands he changed the original into a pure golden nugget for joyous peak time action. Having gained great responses on the dancefloor throughout last year, this could be your next secret weapon. We end with the beginning as the most important thing to build a promising dj set is to start with a strong foundation work, and for that job check for Vax1's vocal and instrumental versions. It's grooving without a doubt and when some tracks are said to be burner' this is for sure a grower". A hot, energetic, healthy, original and positive e.p. you should own..

The excellent Apparel label returns with a new reworking of the superb single 'Spread Love' from much lauded Turkish producer Sarp Yilmaz... Apparel Music has been releasing quality electronic sounds since 2009, focusing on it's own unique 'Jazzy' style that incorporates house, techno, electronica and more. Releases from label boss Kisk alongside producers such as Lopazz, Gavin Herlihy & Echonomist have helped make Apparel a highly respected label and a 'go to' for quality music. Istanbul based producer Sarp Yilmaz has been around for a few years now, but it's with his recent output, including his album for Apparel this year, that he has been gaining serious attention. Support from the likes of Maya Jane Coles, who played his music on Pete Tong's show and Osunlade, who described him as the 'best new artist around' in his Guardian interview, go to show that Yilmaz's time is very much now. 'Spread Love' featured on Yilmaz's recent album 'As If I Care' and was one of the highlights of the LP. Here it appears as a reworked version for this exclusive one-sided 12 release. The track is a superbly deep and warm slice of underground house that perfectly marries electronic elements with a subtle musicality. Rich keys and rolling bass join with the organic sounding percussion to create the perfect base for the atmospheric vocals, pure quality! There may only be one track on offer here, but it truly if something special and will no doubt further cement the reputation of Sarp Yilmaz and the excellent Apparel Music. words/ Julian Shay

You will recognize the feelings in Follow Me Home; it captures the moment between the intense,
ritualistic celebration of a night on the town and the quiet return home. In a cold world, we try to cling
to the sensations of togetherness and of belonging before the morning comes.
David Clement captures this poignant longing, this wistful loneliness, in beautiful, evocative lyrics.

Dutch contingent 'Dilated Pupils' provide the beats for the next double pack on FOF's vinyl only offshoot label. Part 2 of 2

Linea Beat is Slow Motion's latest offshoot, focusing strictly on the whacked out sounds of mid-eighties electronic disco. Long term label partner Francisco has turned his drum machines up to 11 and set lazers stun on this jacking disco 12". Side A sees Cosmo joining the fun bringing along with him the ghost of cult Italo favourites Fun Fun for a throbbing excursion into sunrise elettro. Hands will be in the air for this one for sure. On the flip side things are sleazy, breezy and pulsating with the swagger of Rimini in 1986. Take It implores you to do just that...take it...shake it...make it. On the dancefloor of course!

Keep your eyes peeled for Warm Tapes Adjustment the new project that took place between Detroit and Berlin. The two sides of the same coin bring the name of Gari Romalis and SCM. Slowtown 03 welcomes the spring time with a colorful release. One of Stown favorite fellas and admired artists Jef K (Silver Network, Paris) joins with SlowTowns label owner Rhythm&Soul to release The Groove Maker as the third release of the cosmopolitan label. With a mix of textures The Groove Maker EP goes from the smooth Brazilian house of Copacabana Blues, to the "detroitish" mood of The Groove Maker or an uptempo house dancefloor banger which is "U Know What I'm Sayin'". Slow Town track, the first cut we did for the label, and the one which named our imprint, closes the release with a magic touch of soul and paused classic house.

Razgraad is the brand new solo project by Salvatore Miele, Bologna-based electronic musician and The Water Towers is Razgraad's very first release. Under this moniker Miele designs sounds in heavily saturated structures, stratifying timbres and combining dissonances and minimal percussions with more melodic sequences.

On his debut tape Razgraad investigates cyclicity, drones and rhythmic pulses, declining the sounds of the industrial landscape through the transformation of field recordings and the use of synthesizers, in an archetypal, ritual dimension.
