Gaining popularity by showing respect to the underground whilst fitting perfectly in amongst the islands veterans, ANTS promises to be the party on the island again in this year. ANTS presents The Mix 2014, compiled by the mighty residents themselves (Andrea Olivia, UNER and Los Suruba), truly reflects the sound of their parties and will please their ever growing colony of fans. Featuring tracks from the likes of Deetron, Mr. G, Subb-An, Sid Le Rock and the guys themselves, this compilation promises to the ANTSwer to any party this summer, on or off the island.

Full drumming, a grumpy chord sound embraced from a dark, rebelling melody line like out of the old rave days and the demanding voice from the massive track internal, which calls the "Soldier" with his name. Remixer Rolf Mulder mills with darkly digging sequences and creaky acid effects sharp edged points in the sole of the dancers, so that these also find enough hold on the slant melodies. "Skydive" makes in the matter of grooving also thick cheeks. The track rumbles more and more elegantly than stoic through the space and pulls from the propulsive combination of the vocal-hookline and the harmony changes a well-arranged serving of pop flair which cuts the darkness of the night with a flashing blade from light.

'Just Pressure' contains 80's Dark Wave/EBM inspired tracks with an industrial tinge. Citing inspiration from Fad Gadget, Front 242, Bauhaus and Sisters of Mercy, Sumerian Fleet deliver 9 songs of vintage dark electro. Their sound brings to mind rough 80s/90s Industrial dance with a Gothic tinge and a touch of bass guitar as the lead instrument. The band utilizes vintage analog gear like the Linn Drum, Roland TR-808, MiniMoog, Korg MS-20, and Roland Jupiter 8.

Jean-Baptiste de Laubier, aka Para One, has always been an hyperactive guy. He first
started as no-nonsense hip-hop producer in the mid-nineties, making beats for undeground rap
artists. His recording studio was actually his one-room apartment in Southern Paris, where MCs
were coming on a daily basis, crammed around a mic, an MPC and a battered convertible.

At the turn of the century, he began producing his own instrumental tracks and soon got in touch
with the TTC people, then at the core of the burgeoning French indie rap scene. This was the
beginning of a new exploration in sound for him : from traditional rap, Para One switched to IDM
and techno-infused beats, fizzing with 8-bits FX and deconstructed grooves.

After TTCís first LP Ceci níest pas un disque, in 2002, for Ninja Tuneís rap sublabel Big Dada,
Para produced LíAtelierís (an indie rap supergroup) album for seminal Parisian label Institubes,
with his boy Tacteel, whom with he also started a live electronic project named FuckALoop.
In 2003 came the massive ´ Beatdown EP ª, and then TTCís 2nd album in 2004, B‚tards
Sensibles, two records that definitely proved how rap attitude and electronic wizardry could be
melt into one single sound ñ an idea many people didnít quite buy at the time. In 2005, Laubier
graduated from the FEMIS film school, and found the time to start working on his first solo LP,
the critically acclaimed Epiphanie, that came out in 2006 on Institubes.

French brothers Baptiste & Pierre Colleu have been making music together since they were children. They spent a chunk of their childhood in Africa, which they say has inspired their work in the studio. That influence is submerged fairly deep on 'Dolphin Kid,' the title track for these two EPs. There's an undercurrent of eerie soulfulness and woody percussion accents running through this oddly alluring cosmic-house seducer, but its roots are more Balearic than Afrobeat.

The five remixes of 'Dolphin Kid' enhance the Colleu brothers' original in incrementally fascinating ways. On 'Coyote's Intense Mix,' the respected UK duo augment the laid-back rhythm with nuanced 303 twangs and boldface the hand percussion to magnify its latent funkiness. L.I.E.S. recording artist Willie Burns slows 'Dolphin Kid''s pace to a majestic, hollowed-out, dub-funk strut. It's unfathomably deep. Seattle tech-house maverick Jon McMillion serves up the most twisted, sinister version here, warping the main synth part into a disorienting swirl of borborygmi while intensifying the rhythmic urgency and expanding the sound palette. The second EP concludes with two masterly remixes by Black Merlin. His 'Romance in the Dark Mix' turns 'Dolphin Kid' into a chilling, Goblin-esque piece of dungeon ambience. But it's Merlin's nearly 13-minute 'Peyote Mix' that really reels in the cinematic magic, as he launches the cut even deeper into the black, adding thrusting, throbbing disco kicks and enough horror/thriller-film soundtrack signifiers to give John Carpenter a perma-grimace. Poor 'Dolphin Kid' has come to a gory, but very exciting end.

John Foxx and Jori Hulkkonen have collaborated on a new EP, featuring 4 brand new songs, 2 remixes by film-director David Lynch and a radio edit of the exquisite lead track 'Evangeline'. The other songs - 'Strictly', 'Something Is Coming Down The Avenues' and 'Can't See You Anymore' - are as dream-like and strange as anything in either artist's catalogue. For Foxx, the closest reference would be his 1981 album, The Garden but the surrealist feel of the new material is more displaced and dislocated. There's a strong sense of melancholy, loss, destruction and also romance. Perfect material for David Lynch to reinterpret and re-imagine, quietly stretching out 'Evangeline' with the sound of surf, a drum machine heartbeat and the twang of a 50s guitar. It's a beautiful, evocative remix and a shimmering instrumental version.
According to Hulkkonen the idea was first discussed back in 2010 'when John Foxx And The Maths played a live show at the Roundhouse in London with me supporting as a DJ - and I also ended up on stage to play on John's song, 'Underpass'.'
 Foxx and Hulkkonen had worked together before on two singles, 'Dislocated' in 2005 and 'Never Been Here Before' two years later, but the pair were keen to try something new. 'What I wanted to do was try a somewhat deeper way of collaborating,' says Hulkkonen. 'Creating an EP where the tracks are linked thematically, emotionally and sonically. Thankfully John agreed. Now, some three years later I'm happy the record is finally done and it indeed carries the elements of mystery and surprise it was intended to have. And the fact that David Lynch is on remix duties further adds to the conundrum that is European Splendour.'

How do you stay true to your own sound without repeating yourself How do you free yourself from the burden of wild expectations Ultimately, how do you create a 'difficult second album' that bucks the trend and sounds at least as fresh and enduring as the first Rather than searching for answers to all these questions, Douglas Greed ploughs headlong into his second BPitch Control LP Driven, leaving needless doubts for dust in his rear-view mirror. Just keep on going! Someone else can do the soul-searching, he prefers to dedicate his heart and mind to new tracks. In any case, he was never short of passion or ideas. Douglas Greed has always been driven, and his nature rarely allows him to remain in one place on the genre map for too long. With a musical upbringing ranging from hip hop jams and drum'n'bass parties to the darker avenues of pop à la Joy Division, Depeche Mode or Radiohead, his recent years as a producer and live act have always involved thinking far beyond the usual framework of techno and house. The results of these thought processes, always incorporating the hours away from the dance floor, have already been laid bare on his debut album KRL (Freude am Tanzen) and singles for labels including Infiné, Acker and Gigolo.

Javi has been DJing for more than 15 years but his production career is in its relative infancy, yet he has already impressed
With his fresh musical perspective with a few tracks already released by a couple of recognized labels. Meanwhile Remain's
Meant label has long established itself as a contemporary outlet for credible electronic sounds releasing music from the likes
Of Vosper, Rework, Alien Alien and Remain himself.
The opener and title track is a grungy piece of house with dirty guitar riffs and grinding drums setting a dark post apocalyptic
tone. Shadowy vocals and noir synth lines bring plenty of menace to this rough analogue anthem. Bohemian Groove turn in a
remix that is a little more electric and club ready, its still a moody affair with explosive synths and occult voices lurking in the
shadows, but this one is also married to a more direct and driving tech house groove. 'Motorway' is, as the title hints, a classic
bit of motoric house with a rolling guitar played bass line, crisp boom bap snares and plenty of dark wave synth and guitar lines
that conjure thoughts of DJ greats like Andrew Weatherall and Ewan Pearson. It's slick and gliding at the same time as being
delightfully angsty. Get A Room! Appear on remix duties and add in vocal traffic report musings, more disco styled synths but
also slow down the groove and allow it to spit and kick a bit more roughly than the streamlined original.
If you buy the release digitally you also get 'No Cool Night', which is a gurgling, dystopian bonus track with blurting synths,
malfunctioning machines and menacing moods all pervading from start to finish. This is an arresting EP of well made,
perfectly analogue electronic music that takes it cues from indie as much as techno and excels as a result.

Exclusive Record Store Day 2014. Special hand-picked selection of early singles as well as previously unreleased on vinyl tracks by Alexander Robotnick (aka Maurizio Dami). The first single on the record is "I Wanna Believe" which was released under the moniker Gina & The Flexix in 1985 on the legendary Fuzz Dance label (an Italo Disco sublabel of Materiali Sonori). It is a rare 12" single featuring a dance-floor stomping beat, melodic synth leads and female vocals. The other single on the compilation is the 7" version of "C'est La Vie" which was released in 1987. Most of the LP is comprised of tracks recorded from 1982-1984 which have only been released on CD in 2003 on the "Rare Robotnicks" compilation (except one track from 2005's "Krypta 1982" and one other track culled from "Robotnick Archives"). The exclusive to vinyl tracks were hand-selected and display a diverse and ever-changing sound palette yet maintaining the unique and unmistakable Alexander Robotnick style which we have all loved through the years. In Paradisum's 11th offering comes from Low Jack, who returns to the label after his collaboration with Qoso. It's a heavy EP of dense, apocalyptic sounds from the fast rising French DJ and producer that often churns along at a very predatory sub-100bpm.



Grainy, dusty, dirty and psychedelic, title track 'Flashes' is a prickly concoction for sure. The kicks drag below, white noise patterns emerge above and way off in the distance massive industrial machines seem to be working in a heavy storm. 'Your Soul' has more light in it thanks to the mellow melodies, but stormy winds still percolate in the background and the spread-apart kicks still trudge with a dark and heavy heart.



'Don't U Know' is another monster full of coarse analogue sounds, whirring and broken machines and stomping kicks. It's terrifyingly industrial stuff that will blow your mind ion the right darkened dancefloor. 'Sweet Cheater' sounds like a fruit machine gone bad, with layers of grim and dirt and cowbells and kicks all piled on top of each other into a patchwork of sound so tightly packed its impossible to ignore. Frankly, nasty noise never sounded so good!

Release Sustain can boast an impressive catalogue with the likes of Fred P, Safeword and Alland Byallo having put material out on the label. Here they welcome back Himan to the imprint, while welcoming newcomer Temme Teje who recently featured on Cocoon's 'M' compilation in 2013.

Kicking things off is the original mix of Potive from Temma-Teje, a classically deep track built upon resonant chords, an atmospheric, heavily reverberated organ hook and spoken word vocal lines.

The record puts its focus on the groove for the majority of the piece, while the latter half sees additional melodic elements eased in to up the energy. Rush Hour's Tevo Howard steps up to remix 'Potive' next, taking all the beauty of the original mix with the organ and shimmering chords, but instilling an underlying grit through analogue drums

To close Dolly / Ostgut Ton artist Basic Soul Unit delivers a gritty interpretation of 'In My Mind', the Canadian producer opts from rumbling low-end, ethereal pads and earth-shattering off-kilter rhythms, while arpeggiated synths creep into the closing stages and truly round off this package as a heavy hitter.

Gabi DelGado ist als einer der Pioniere deutscher Techno- und Electromusik anzusehen und sorgte zusammen mit Robert Görl in der 1978 gegründeten Formation DAF (Deutsch amerikanische Freundschaft) für nationales und internationales Aufsehen.
1995 gründete er zusammen mit dem Schauspieler und Musiker Wotan Wilke-Möhring das Projekt DAF/DOS.

Dilankex is a work of opposites - two versions of the same multiple events - a black and white release.

Oberman Knock's original version (white) is a laid-back affair housed within a glassy place of worship, echoing with monastic vocals, strings, wind instruments and field recordings, which are offset by synthetic beats, funk bass and entwined sleazy vocals.

In contrast Autechre's remix (black), panning out at just over 17 minutes long, is everything that you'd expect from the duo - a frantic, fractured and detailed to within an inch of it's life piece, that has no need to build, but instead unravels and mutates into what is an unmistakable Autechre crescendo.

Whilst both versions play out at opposite ends of the tempo spectrum, what connects both is that they are emotional machine music with guts and vigor.

Just pulled out his debutalbum "Amatilda" last year, Jan Driver again dished out an extra
tasty and promising morsel: This One-shot named 'Peaker' comes with a gigantic brightness in sound and is not less than
a slammy hand-clapping celebratory basher. The reverb and heavy subbasses are literally all
over the place...Jan Driver signature's for sure! It has the exact fair amount of tension a track
needs to sound excited and to infect your eardrum.

Brazil's superb collaboration Mixhell, also known as ex-Sepultura drummer Iggor Cavalera, his DJ wife Laima Leyton and long time partner and producer Max Blum, are back with their newest imprint - Exit Wound' (taken from their forthcoming debut album - Spaces'). Exit Wound sets the scene of a hypnotic space trip driven by euphoric percussion, groovy bass and smooth vocals by Greg Puciato from hardcore punk band The Dillinger Escape Plan - who gives the track a certain indie, disco funk vein. The tension grows into a mess of Puciato's screamo perfomance and drops back into the vibey space atmosphere. Everything merges into brilliant indie-electro-mash up served by Mixhell in their own inimitable style. The pack is completed with three remixes, contributed by power duo Zombie Disco Squad, Swedish bad boys Savage Skulls and last but not least by retro-disco producer Aeroplane. Zombie Disco Squad dials it down to a more minimalistic well thought out remix and focuses it on rough brooding basslines crossed with haunting vocal bits from the original. Future Techno aspirated with some slight of darkness was created here. Whilst Aeroplane spins it back to a 80s dreamy retro jam - Casio oldschool synths dipped into a funky electro beat, which gives you the feeling of driving a red Testarossa through Miami while listening to Debbie Deb. Finally Savage Skulls morphs the original to a ravey dancefloor smasher, framed by heavy stomping kicks and energetic fidget synths. A track which is built for the crowd and to destroy the crowd
