The Descent of Man EP is the third and last part of a trilogy on vinyl dedicated to Charles Darwin studies. This final chapter is focused on the darkest side of electronic music and his impact on human psychology. As Charles Darwin studied the evolution of physical and mental traits, we want to show how obscure, trembling and aggressive sounds generate an increasing sense of agitation and loss while mild and gloomy atmospheres can relieve the body and brain, achieving a peaceful state of mind.

Designed to appeal to DJs and House fans seeking hard, funky, and effective club weapons, Cc's sound is informed by years spent honing his skills in clubs in Chicago (as heard on the funky and direct house workout of 'Calvino Italo') and as a resident DJ for No Pain In Pop in London (the UK Garage rhythms adapted to Cc's own deep and distinct sonic pallette on 'Shackles'). Cc now holds it down in the Southern states as a resident at Atlanta's HUNGER club night and Savannah's Cape Fear.

The flip-side of the record contains 2 tracks by Golden Donna, an incredibly unique and talented producer who is following up last year's stunning debut LP for Not Not Fun with two deep, moving, and melodic cuts of some extremely adventurous and almost ambient electro. Rich, pronounced melodic textures encourage deep introspection as they collide with uncommonly fresh rhythms, making this a workout for the mind as well as the body.

If you thought in past times...what does...Pastamusik - well then, here's a short update. We had to take a creative time-out, enjoy the summer and besides of that play numerous Raves and Club nights. Label Manager was still very active during that period. Between playing gigs in Barcelona, Istanbul, London, Berlin and Brandenburg, she prepared the next ten Pastamusik records (or files) which will be released during the next couple of months.
Here we go, Winters here and it's time again for some hot music.
We start with 'Made in Space' by just migrated 'The Analog Roland Orchestra'. Space is to be explored, at least the part that lies still in the dark... A pretty ambitioned task, since Space is supposed to be pretty big.
Inspiration for his tunes was given to our analogue friend by watching stars on his terrace in the big city with the unfinished Airport.
The A-Side is dominated by 'Rominas Space Journey'. Sublim zero gravity seasoned with a shot of reverence. Take off from the ground, passing clouds, breaking through the borders of atmosphere and then ..recline and drifting on and on...
The B-Side contains two versions of 'Vertigo' Analog Roland quotes a time when Space and Science Fiction where one and the same thing, tells stories from glittering Disco-Temples, real flares and plateau shoes and of pop colored super8 mo- vies with records of epic parties from that Era.
The Remix by Macchina Nera is more straight forward, sounds more massive but not less sexy and creates a bow of sound, passing Jupiter closely to here now and today. Andrew Fox has spent nearly a decade in New York City sketching psychic spaces and emotions like a cinematographer in conversation with himself, reckoning with demons, seeking understanding. His debut four-song EP as VISUALS arrives October 27th on Nicolas Jaar's Other People imprint. Fox formed a three-piece band called VISUALS in 2012, choosing the name as an oblique reference to a debilitating ocular disorder he suffered as a child. His previous releases were a series of cryptic self-released 7 singles written in collaboration with drummer Marshall Ryan—but Fox felt further development was still needed. He went into hibernation, experimenting and playing solo electronics sets in small NY venues, and writing new songs. VISUALS' EP is a collaborative relay race between like minds. After recording and producing much of the arrangements himself, Fox handed the songs off to Darkside guitarist Dave Harrington for a final round of mixing and edits. His partner Nicolas Jaar finished the job, lending the record a distinctive psychedelic thump that fits Fox's songs hand-in-glove. Over the course of its all-too-brief runtime, VISUALS' EP pits the soulful against the inhuman, evoking everything from Broadcast's eerie, hermetic pop experimentation to Prince's minimalist sex funk. Songs like 'Solve for X' and 'Remote Control' are bottom-heavy love songs to an uncertain future, propelling Fox's cracked, weather-beaten drawl through a gauntlet of rubber-band basslines, bone-dry drum machines and deft sample manipulation. While much of VISUALS' EP is a clear product of the dog days of the early 21st century, closing track 'Fifteen' is something else altogether, a transmission from the heart of Old Weird America, all acoustic guitars, telephonic vocals and unsteady drums.

Returning after some time off, Two Dogs in a House took to a secluded studio in Stockholm Sweden during spring 2012 to record while on the road. This release is the first in a trilogy of opium den and whorehouse inspired singles entitled Mecanica. The title track is an erratic and cacophonous 14 minute masterpiece, cycling you through disorderly drum programming until you have no choice but to surrender... and just at that point, the ethereal pad melody offers you an escape. Side B's Byot is a blissed-out blur, drowned in reverb and subtly suggesting leads that may or may not actually exist—the perfect antidote to its impenetrable flipside.

Four slices of lush from Russia with love. The original track, described by MixMag as "a cross between Phoenix and Empire Of The Sun", gets heavy treatment from Swiss Future Classic and Kitsuné heroes Pharao Black Magic, who deliver a pounding yet hypnotic, bass-heavy mid-tempo tune. Lovemonk darlings Space Ranger keep it equally hypnotic, but bring back the speed and embed the melancholic vocals in some uplifting, moving yet club-banging sounds. The final touch for the digital release is for Mexico City's rising star on the house scene Rubinskee, serving up funky piece, stripped down and somewhat eerie, and therefore highly evocative.


POMPEYA is a Moscow indie-pop band founded in 2006. Their music draws inspiration from 70s disco, 80s New Wave and 90s indie rock.The successful 2011 Tropical album was followed by Foursome, recorded in LA at Bedrock. Icelandic band Bloodgroup have had their powerfully crafted brand of electronic music playing on our stereo on repeat ever since the February release of the Tracing Echoes Album on Sugarcane. The highly developed album was described as majestic ballads, grinding beats, and a pop single or three thrown in for good measure from the likes of Dummy Magazine. Earmilk (Canada) claims 'The Icelandic foursome cut icy melodies through the steam on Tracing Echoes, undoubtedly their best to date, but more impressively, one of the best albums of 2013. With its delicate vocals and gemmed synths, (it) strikes closer to early Knife or Zola Jesus than Depeche Mode. Depeche Mode's shadow might reach far and wide, but their descendants keep finding ways to push gloomy synth-pop into darker, tighter corners. Bloodgroup rips up the mold, equal parts muscle and machine, the band manages to concoct a mixture that's just as addictive as anything from Dave Gahan and company'......... And with that......we give you the new Disquiet EP.

Electronic arts pioneer, activist and researcher Konrad Becker (aka Monoton) teams up with vocalist Sela for a project with a mission: unveiling Operations in a shadow world of mediated realities. Linking 21st century technology to ancient communication practices in several directions at once the hypermedia wizard and the young Viennese singer celebrate the powers of media over matter. Sound becomes a weapon against operation systems of containment and to be buried alive by technologies of symbolic domination. Operations not only gives a voice to radical discourse - but basslines and a deep groove.

The four-track EP covers vocal tunes from the recent Operations performance series and short instrumental pieces for Theater of Operations. Based on Konrad Becker's Dictionary of Operations the cinematic live-show evokes phantasmagoric spheres of information environments with pulsing street sounds. Exploring communication machines haunted by ghosts, mirror worlds and dangerous trans-communications. Channeling voices and emanating streams of ectoplasm Sela stages a soulful embodiment of a medium in an urban ghost dance. Operations EP's imagery is inspired by vaudeville soirees conjuring miraculous wonders and 19th century spectacles of new technology as in the Theatre Houdin of Paris. Digitally recorded but designed in a 10" historic gramophone style, the record resembles artifacts from the enchanted twilight zones of circling quasi-objects. Possession an eerily deep tune grooved into side A is followed by crisply chilled beats of Enchantment; the other side unleashes scary Monsters on the Rise tailed by the convoluted noise dub Interlude.

- Possession is a 150bpm voodoo ritual addressing mediated flows, the spirits of commodities and states. Theaters of possession are the battleground for control of object and subject in information feudalism. In a setting of zombies and haunted property, offbeats trigger the coming of the Loas. Sela's voice evokes hidden channels of libidinal economies, veiled desires and the empires of terminally unfulfilled longing.

One part English eccentric, one part electronic music whizz, Feed Me aka Jon Gooch aka Spor aka Seventh Stitch (his electronica side project) prefers to do things differently. 'Calamari Tuesday' is Jon's first full-length album.

You're just as likely to find Feed Me sharing a bill with the likes of Foals, The Prodigy, 2ManyDJs or Bjork, than with rank and file EDM DJ/producers, and he sells out the kind of live venues most of the latter can only dream of (often playing multiple shows in each city). He doesn't DJ. He collaborates with bands like Crystal Fighters ('Love Is All I Got' is included here). And he'd rather do press interviews through his alter ego, a character named Feed Me from which this project takes its name.

On the live front, Feed Me sold out a 20 date US tour earlier this year, and then returned for a sell out 'homecoming' gig at London's Forum (which followed 2012's sell out show at the Electric Ballroom), where he debuted material from the album. London witnessed the kind of immense light and laser show and production that has accompanied his festival shows for Fuji Rocks, Exit festival, Reading, and Leeds - occupying the stages once reserved for the Chemical Brothers, Underworld and other live electronic music acts from the genre's 20th century heyday.

When most people envisage a futuristic interface between man and machine, they likely picture 7 foot gleaming cyborgs a la Hollywood's age-old vision. Not Gooch. His perfect symbiosis between man and machine is about 3 foot tall, green, and boasts the kind of teeth that would make Sigourney Weaver think twice. Feed Me was created by Jon and built with the help of animatronic genius, John Nolan, who's worked on projects including Harry Potter, Dr Who, Clash Of The Titans and many more.

Musically, 'Calamari Tuesday' shows that peaktime electronic music can be a thrill ride for the mind as well as the feet. It bristles and crackles with energy but shuns the default setting you'll find amongst certain plug-in obsessed peers. This album represents Jon and Feed Me's journey so far, resembling something of an aural biopic of them both to date. He says many of the lead synth lines "were created by the pair in his Hertfordshire garage and fashioned from common household goods". We suspect he might not be telling the truth, but that's Feed Me.

'Calamari Tuesday' is released on Jon's new label, Sotto Voce, which will be home to all his Feed Me exploits and releases from other artists.

New release from kitchenstudio3 On "Analog Sphere Ep", the misterious Program Raphel and Pezzo come up with three fresh releases who show their love for unexpected soundscapes and musical emotions.

With "Smile revox" , Program Raphael seems to use the same recipe used in
the mythical production of old Kitchenstudio3's friends , Poker ( Eukahouse
rec.) and Borgomanero ( marshmellow rec) during the last decade. Big bad
bassline, vocals that comes from a lo-fi cassette and a "move your ass"

After the cinematic 'Stay' serves as a blissful palette cleanser we're back on the pulse with the abrasive thuds of 'The Raven', perhaps their most stark work to date. Fake Blood's eagerly anticipated debut album, 'Cells', will be released on Different Recordings this autumn. Renowned for his hi octane, electro-influenced productions, this record is set to be one of the standout albums of 2012. Theo Keating, in true maverick style, has forged his own path as Fake Blood- a hard-hitting, multi genre artist with a cult following like no other. His previous releases, 'Mars' and the 'Fix Your Accent EP' that features the hit club anthem, 'I Think I Like It' gained rave reviews among press and fans alike, cementing the man as a leader of the scene.

Few DJs have truly trashed the rulebook like Fake Blood. When his remixes snuck onto the dance scene in 2008, he shied away from the spotlight and, like a dancefloor ninja, managed to keep his identity firmly under wraps. There were no gimmicks, no stadium-sized headpieces or fancy dress masks to obscure him, just a desire for club heads to absorb his music without any preconceptions. Four years and four EPs on, Keating is still something of an enigma. He doesn't prey on fame, he does very few interviews and he isn't part of a DJ crew: he has always preferred to let his music speak for itself. He's been in no hurry to release a record either - until now, that is. Keating has found a home on Different Recordings, which counts club crusaders like Tiga, Felix Da Housecat and Vitalic among its roster, and is finally ready to present his debut album: Cells.

The album will feature 11 brand new tracks and the first single, 'Yes /No' will be released September 17th, followed up by a second single 'All In The Blink' later in the year.

It all kick starts this week as Fake Blood releases the highly anticipated 'Yes/No' EP on Different Recordings this Friday September 21st (September 24th on Vinyl).

To coincide with the release, Fake Blood's own label Blood Music is taking over Room 1 of London's legendary super club - Fabric. A Live Stream of the Blood Music room will be taking place for fans that can't make it to the party. Awdio's Live Streaming technology will be in play to make sure Fake Blood fans from across the world can be a part of the action. The artists in the Blood Music Room are Fake Blood, Boy 8 Bit, Clouds, LeBreton and Ego Troopers.

Since its release in May, 'Tides of Mind', the second album of Oxia turned 2012´s cloudy Springs into a shining early Summer. The experts praised its deep and classy characters, while the club-goers massively enjoyed it on the dancefloors. For all, a majestic tour de force for the mind and body.

'Housewife' featuring Miss Kittin is standout track taken from the album, which did not have to be released as single to make it to specialized radioshow playlists. In one way, this track pays tribute to a certain tradition of House Music in North America, in the other way, it upgrades the good old recipes with some modern flavors. On the mic, Miss Kittin sensually sings a passionate (and almost conjugal) love song for the musical genre. The (ware)housewife achieves emancipation through relentless dancing and self-forgetfulness. Regarding Oxia´s production, needless to say vintage synths, groovy rhythms and funky bass are their best.

When it comes to musical influences, most electronic producers mention Detroit´s Techno or Chicago´s House heydays, the German electro-pop of Kraftwerk or French GRMC 'Musique concrète'. The two brothers, who compose Spitzer, will cite all together without a shadow of doubt, the post-hardcore American band Fugazi. And indeed, their productions are permeated with an incredible dark energy equally disconcerting and fascinating.

There's something magical about certain cities and their respective scenes. Whether we're talking about New York, Berlin, London or Moscow, you can always expect quality when they are mentioned in a conversation. The same goes for the up-and-coming but always interesting Melbourne. Over the last couple of years we've seen a strong increase of Australian producers dropping one great project after another. Artists that come to mind are names like Tornado Wallace, Fantastic Man, Michael Ozone and Andras Fox. Add a vibrant nightlife and a couple of young producers next in line and you end up with a city to be reckoned with.

One of those names is M5K, a young Melbourne based producer who's been creating a buzz the past year by releasing on the established Melbourne Deepcast label and doing a string of DJ gigs in and around the city. And now we have the priviledge to release his very first full length EP. And it's an absolute belter of a project.

The EP opens up with 'SKY ROAD', a fast burner clocking in just under 7 minutes. The track is filled with heavy arpeggio synths, a thumping bassline and heavy drums. In other words, the perfect peak time tune that will do justice to any dancefloor. The B side however, starts out with the more laid back 'SPIRIT LEVELS' which is a track that can only be described as 'cinematic'. It's once again very synth heavy but the song creates such an atmosphere that it's hard to miss its nuances and subtleties. To top it all off, we have the honour of none other than UK based producers Deep Space Orchestra on the remix tip of 'SKY ROAD'. Flipping the original in such a creative way but still honing in to the feel of the M5K track, this remix can only be classified as an absolute thrill to listen to. It takes the groove of the original and extends it to an incredible build up, of which we are sure will enrichen every DJ set.

Wet Play dive into the record world with 'Where Good Friends Meet #1' a show case of artists and sounds from the infamous Manchester soiree.

First up is Loge with 'E 180 Love', a dazzling, hydraulic-driven ride round west coast LA sunset. Keep those shades down to reflect the neon beams this track fires from its hardware driven body mechanics. Hear the fiery red sun melt into the square bass that simply repeats on and on....
Teleporting us straight into 5D is Skanky Magic. Crazy use of spring reverbs, darting leads and anti-gravity sonics will have you bouncing all over inner space as you adjust to the hydraulic two-note buzz. Electric, mesmerising and from another galaxy completely. Its blissful soaring through the cosmos in a technicolour haze.

Metrodome's '909 Lovin' is next. Precision built for setting dance floors alight and with an arrangement that'll twist heads inside out. Just when you think this track is burnt out another sick baseline sets the floor on fire again accompanied by one of the maddest signature sounds since Terror Danjah's 'Gremlin'. Pure heat.

Finally we get Theo's Ugly Edits and Jamal Moss's Members Only edits interpreted by a speed fuelled, level riding rogue form Manchester's underbelly. 'Edit 2 ( 2007 Version )' bumps and simmers uncontrollably riding the sample like a bitch before dropping into tripped out celestial disco chaos. If you thought only the Detroit and Chicago cats knew how to fuck an MPC hard then Ste Spandex has just brought home the bacon.

Bambule is the new Label of Dj Pierre (Pierre Blaszczyk) from Germany. Pierre is very well known since the early 90s with his Clubproject Stammheim and Labels like Hoerspielmusik and utils. Ear Spankers are Michael Kohlbecker and Ben Dewald. Kohlbecker is a well known significant producer in the scene of Mainhattan Frankfurt since the 90s. Beside commercial Audioproductions like the Soundtrack of the TV-Hit True Blood with Gabriel Le Mar is he founder of the Producer School Produzentenschmiede based in Frankfurt. When Tobi and Bastian first met they didn't really like each other. They basically never talked. Why Years later nobody knows for sure. Working together didn't make things easier. However one day, when they were forced to spend their lunch together they did talk: as it turned out both were pretty surprised how much alike they felt when it came to music. So they decided to team up and produce a couple of tracks. Bastian (born and raised in Ulm) has a straight forward musical background: he's an educated Audio Engineer and a Bachelor of Recording Arts.

As Bastian, Tobi started early with producing the musical support for his Munich-based poetry label Perplex. After a creative but very frustrating phase of combining their different musical styles (a broad variety from Drum 'n'Bass, to House, Techno, UK Garage and Post-Dubstep) they threw all of their initial ideas away and started from scratch. As a result Heitzberg Theorem now concentrates on what's really important to them: producing bassy, heavy and danceable UK-influenced house music.

Five scenes are chosen from an imaginary sci-fi film and have been engraved onto vinyl and digital formats for this very cinematic release by Scanone. A stateless trio (Japan, UK, Sweden), Tristesse Contemporaine chose Paris as their battle field. The sound of their first album, produced by Pilooski in 2011, was immediately praised among the music scene and critics - raw and minimal, catchy yet mesmerizing, both poppy and spleen-heavy. Equally inspired by the ghosts of shoegaze, krautrock and Madchester, they aimed to write the soundtrack of an era that got lost into the night. Songs like « I Didn't Know », « Daytime Nighttime », « In the Wake », or « Hell is Other People » set catwalks (Chanel) on fire and but also the music press and live venues, as much in France (where they recently opened for Pulp at the Olympia) as elsewhere, including Russia and Eastern Europe.

The Woodwork E.P. is the second episode of the Tristesse Contemporaine story. They have a new label, Record Makers, which is co-releasing it alongside their mother-house Dirty. This is a definition of their DNA in four new tracks:

Vampires : in the shadow of new wave giants, a minimal prayer to make ghosts go away.

Woodwork : sun-drenched and languid, this is Tristesse Contemporaine very own version of a praise for patience.

Low Tide : back on the dance floor for perverted, drug-induced nursery rhyme. Higher than the sun.

Placed at the very entrance of the club, Tristesse Contemporaine now waits for us. A new album is to be released in September. No one will survive.
